Thank you for coming back

Notes: So once again, @zaana's incredible art lived rent free in my head until I put it down on paper. So here's a delightful AU where Crosshair doesn't get sent to Tantiss because guess who gets to him first? Chose to do a rescue from Barton IV because Cross is in his imperial armor in the art, and I thought "Hey, let's maybe give him a break and not make him go through torture before he's rescued?" Neat idea, right? Let's tell Jen and Brad
WC: 3K (lol this was going to be a drabble)
Characters: The Bad Batch (all of them!)
Tags: Wrecker POV (he deserves all the Crosshair reunion energy), angst at the end (Crosshair is going through it ok), hurt/comfort, giant family group hug, Crosshair and Wrecker cry, Hunter is emotional, canon typical violence, implied mistreatment by the Empire (did I mention Crosshair is going through it?), family reunion, all the family fluff I could fit into 3k words

The sound of blaster fire was becoming permanent in Wrecker’s ears. Hunkered down behind a duracrete barrier, he kept his DC-17 trained on the Imps attempting to advance on his position, blaster bolts streaming past his head.
“Seriously, who trained these guys to shoot,” he thought to himself, needing to only dodge a few bolts from the barrage while his targets fell with each pull of his trigger.
The landing platform at the depot on Barton IV was looking more like a true battlefield and less like a remote outpost with every passing minute. Two T-4 shuttles lay in smoking ruins - the first thanks to Hunter’s skill on the Marauder’s rear gun and the second thanks to an excellent detonator throw by Wrecker - and stormtrooper bodies lay scattered across the duracrete ground. So far, Wrecker and Hunter were executing their part of the plan perfectly, but when it came to creating distractions, there wasn’t much guess work as to Wrecker’s success rate.
The Batch’s intel told them that the depot, located on a desolate, frozen planet that rivaled Hoth’s  icy temperatures, normally operated as a blip on the Empire’s priority list. In fact, blip might have been giving it too much credit. The small clone trooper squad that was assigned to protection detail put in requests for equipment, supplies, and reinforcements throughout their year of service, and every request fell on deaf imperial ears. Gathered from the information Tech found during his hacking, Commander Mayday of the squad put in a request for reinforcements 40 rotations ago, citing that only five members of his squad remained alive at the time the request went in, but Tech couldn’t find any log of a response anywhere in the records. Complete silence from the Empire.
Until 4 rotations ago. The call went out for a platoon of stormtroopers to ready for deployment to Barton IV with orders to transport cargo of high importance to the Empire from the depot to the military base on Coruscant. Prior to the platoon’s arrival, a small squad of clone troopers was sent to scout and ready the depot for the cargo transfer. The squad consisted of two standard troopers and one specialized. One prickly, stubborn, unyielding specialized trooper who Wrecker couldn’t wait to see again.
When Tech caught chatter that a clone trooper shot a commanding imperial officer in broad daylight in front of an imperial depot, he initially intended to send the intel directly to Captain Rex, informing him of another defecting clone who would be in need of assistance, but after he scanned the information log, he didn’t register his datapad falling from his hands, thudding on the floor, only able to to focus on activating the comm on his vambrace, urging Hunter to get to the Marauder as quickly as possible. Because there in front of him, written across the Marauder’s main computer, was CT-9904: Defector. Charged with the murder of Lieutenant Nolan. In custody on Barton IV. Scheduled for armed transfer in two rotations.
The discussion was short - Hunter the only one remaining cautious until Tech confirmed the lack of security at the depot, even with the stormtrooper platoon coming in - and the Batch set their course to Barton IV less than two hours after the message was intercepted. The plan was easy, one the Batch could nearly execute in their sleep, even with their newer blonde addition. Create a distraction to draw the majority of security out into the open which Hunter and Wrecker would engage while Omega provided cover from the Marauder. Meanwhile, Tech and Echo skirt along the edge of the chaos, slip into the depot undetected, locate Crosshair’s location, and extract him while neutralizing any remaining threats if necessary.
Plans 5, 4, and 21. The Batch specialty.
“Wrecker, incoming! Northwest!” Hunter’s smokey voice called over the commotion.
The far gate of the depot opened, ten stormtroopers running out to join the fight. “Yeah, I see ‘em, Sarge,” Wrecker confirmed. “They look excited to see us.”
Hunter took cover behind his barrier, and turned his head in Wrecker’s direction.
“How about you give our hosts a warm greeting?” Hunter suggested, cocking his head to the side. Wrecker could feel the smug smirk under that helmet.
“Gladly,” Wrecker responded gleefully.
Reaching into the pack on his back, he grabbed two thermal detonators, clicked them live, and chucked. They arced into the air, curving in opposite directions, landing right in the middle of the oncoming troopers, and Wrecker watched as all ten stormtroopers disappeared into a beautiful burst of orange, red, and black.
“Direct hit,” Wrecker yelled, pumping his DC-17 in triumph.
Across the way, Hunter gave a quick thumbs up and popped his head above his barrier. Wrecker did the same, confirming that the landing platform was clear of imps for the moment, but they knew more troopers would arrive soon. They’d only taken out about 30 of them so far.
“Agh, where are they,” Hunter wondered, helmet trained on the door they expected to see their brothers emerge from.
“Give ‘em a few more minutes, Sarge. I doubt the Empire just left Crosshair in a set of binders on a crate.”
“They’re dumb enough to,” Hunter said. A soft chuckle came through his modulator, “Wonder how long he’d humor them until he took them all out with his hands still bound.”
“Knowing Crosshair? They wouldn’t even get the binders on him,” Wrecker laughed.
Hunter went quiet, helmet still pointed at the door. Then his shoulders fell like he was bowing to a weight Wrecker couldn’t see. “We’ll have to be patient. He’s…” Hunter paused. “He’s probably not the Crosshair we remember. There are going to be some … invisible wounds.”
Wrecker released his own shuttered breath. He looked down at the ground for a moment, and then looked back up to find Hunter looking back at him. “Doesn’t matter how long it takes. We’ll help patch those up too.”
Hunter remained still for a breath and then nodded.
The silence was interrupted by a chime on Hunter’s comm. “What’ve you got, Omega?” he asked as he activated the connection.
“I’m picking up multiple heat signatures heading our way. Looks like our little break is over,” Omega’s voice chirped over the comm.
“Copy that,” Hunter responded.
Wrecker brought his own comm up to his mouth. “What’s your count, kid?” he asked playfully.
“I’m at 4,” Omega answered, a smug tone floating through.
“Only 4? You’re falling behind. I’m at 18,” Wrecker said.
“I don’t think the thermal detonators should count,” Hunter interjected.
“What?! Did you see how perfectly those landed? Probably my best yet! Not even Tech could pull that off.”
“It’s hardly fair when I’m all the way back here on the Marauder!” Omega argued.
“Excuses excuses, kid,” Wrecker teased. Their debate came to a quick halt when the remaining hangar doors of the depot opened, revealing the last wave of the platoon. “Alright, break time’s over. Shoot good, kid.”
The platform became engulfed in battle once again. Blaster bolts peppered the air. Thermal detonators flew. Line after line of stormtroopers tried to take the advantage on the two ground soldiers and their coverage, but Hunter, Wrecker, and Omega held them back with ease. Wrecker heard General Skywalker speaking to Hunter about something called meditation once - a staple Jedi practice of centering one’s mind and connecting with the force through quiet sitting - and while Wrecker wasn’t sure this would meet the Jedi standard, he imagined this was the closest to meditation he would ever come. Surrounded by the sounds of battle. Adrenaline pumping in his veins. He’d hit a point of focus that drowned everything else out, his mission the only thought in his mind. And he was dam good at it, too.
His DC-17 sang, and he let out a jovial laugh as he took down another line of troopers. As he focused on the enemies in front of him, the squad’s comm channel chimed in his helmet, and the only thing in the galaxy that could divert his attention from the battle in front of him called through the speakers.
“Hunter. Wrecker. We’ve got him. We’re approaching the exit. What’s the status of the platform?” Echo’s voice came through.
For a second, Wrecker and Hunter turned towards each other, both chests rising rapidly with fast breaths not caused by the battle in front of them, and Wrecker knew if he could see Hunter’s eyes, they’d reflect the same bottomless relief he was feeling.
Wrecker forced himself back to the present and provided cover fire while Hunter responded.
“You’re clear to exit. A few imps left but nothing we can’t handle. Wrecker and I will provide cover fire while you cross the platform. Go directly to the Marauder,” Hunter ordered.
Wrecker’s breath caught in his throat when a low, raspy voice could be heard in the background. “No, we thought we’d take a hike in the mountains.”
A hitched breath came through, and in his peripheral, Wrecker noticed Hunter lean his helmet back against the duracrete barrier, shoulders shaking.
“I never thought I’d miss his attitude,” Omega piped in.
That broke the tension building in Wrecker’s head, and a laugh barreled out from his chest. Brain clear and ready to act again, he focused on the remaining stormtroopers trying to hold their ground.
“Omega, get the engines running. We’re getting off this hunk of ice as soon as we’re all onboard,” Hunter finished relaying the orders.
“One more thing,” Tech’s voice came through this time. “I did the scan. The inhibitor chip has indeed been removed, but only after the encounter on Bracca. Crosshair did remove it voluntarily unbeknownst to the Empire.”
“Tech kind of refused to leave the holding cells until he was able to confirm it all. Hacked records and everything here on the depot. That’s what took us so long,” Echo supplied.
“Thank the Maker for Tech, and his stubborn need for knowledge,” Hunter mumbled. He went back on the comm, “Glad to hear it. Now get out here.”
Hunter turned to Wrecker. “Let’s take out as many as we can before they get here. Once they emerge, you lay down cover fire, and I’ll take overwatch.”
“Copy that,” Wrecker replied, and they went to work.
Time that had been passing at light speed slowed to the flow of Mustafar lava. Only ten stormtroopers remained posted across the platform, and Wrecker was determined to clear as many as he could before his brothers emerged.
Another minute passed. Another. Then another. Time was taunting him.
A whoosh floated over the blasterfire. The blasted door to the depot finally opened, and there in the doorway were three bent over figures - two supporting the weight of the third in between them - hobbling onto the landing deck. Wrecker allowed himself one glance hoping it would calm his running mind. Echo took most of the middle figure’s weight, flesh arm wrapped around their waist and scomp arm securing the arm wrapped across Echo’s back dangling over his shoulder, while Tech kept one arm around the figure’s waist and kept his blaster at the ready in the other.
As Wrecker glanced at them,  it wasn’t the figure’s distinct all black armor - the armor of the imperial special forces - that identified him to Wrecker. No, it was the tattoo around their right eye. The tattoo Wrecker sat and watched as Tech gave it to them when they were still just cadets. The tattoo that represented their pride in their skill. The tattoo that told everyone exactly which batch he belonged to, front and center for all to see. The crosshair.
Flanking from behind, Tech easily took down three stormtroopers before they made their way down the stairs. The remaining seven stormtroopers barked out orders to fall back, trying to regroup due to the new arrivals, and Wrecker used their confusion to his advantage, taking out another three in one go. Realizing they were outnumbered and outmatched, the remaining four stormtroopers fell back to the hangar, shooting wildly at any target they could see.
Slower than Wrecker would like, his three brothers made their way to his and Hunter’s position across the platform. As soon as they crossed the threshold of their barriers, Hunter stood from his coverage, falling in step to provide cover directly at their backs.
“Alright, Wrecker. Let’s keep these guys pinned as we head to the ship,” Hunter said.
Jumping into position, Wrecker kept a steady pace back to the Marauder without breaking his fire on the remaining stormtroopers. Hunter hit one more as they walked, and Wrecker had his finger on the trigger to take down another when a streak of pink flew over his head and directly into the helmet of his target.
He glanced over his shoulder.
“Final count: 12,” Omega beamed down at him from the top of the ramp into the Marauder.
“Aha! Nice shot, kid! Now let’s get out of here,” Wrecker said, barreling up the ramp into the ship.
The ramp closed up as the ship made its way into the air, and the energy within immediately went still. Tech sat in the cockpit, taking over the controls from Omega once on board, but Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, Omega, and Crosshair remained in the hold.
Crosshair sat in the chair in front of the computer, slumped over, one hand on the armrest propping him while an elbow rested on a knee like that was all the energy he could muster. He was breathing heavy, chest rising and falling as if he’d just finished a training sprint back on Kamino. Wrecker quickly gave his body a once over. Crosshair had always been lithe, by far the smallest body mass of the Bad Batch, but there had been muscle underneath those long limbs that gave any regular clone trooper a run for his money. Now, Wrecker clocked only bones showing underneath the exposed areas his armor didn’t cover, and his cheekbones were sharp above the hollowness of his cheeks. Purple blotched under his eyes, and it was impossible not to notice the deep scar that covered the right side on the back of his head. The scar he received when he took the full heat of a Venator ion engine.
The same engine he tried to trap his brothers in.
“Thank you…for coming for me. I…I wouldn’t have blamed you if you didn’t,” Crosshair drawled, head bent down. Whether he was unable to lift it from lack of strength or not being able to face the current scene, Wrecker wasn’t sure. His own heart was thudding in his chest, threatening to burst out. He called on every ounce of discipline and self-restraint he learned in his years as a soldier and remained rooted in place, holding his breath. The rest of the Batch stood as still as statues, four sets of eyes on their silver-haired brother.
“You can drop me off at the closest port. You can pick. Doesn’t matter to me,” Crosshair said to the floor. Still, no one else spoke. He raised his head, glancing at each of them. His gaze settled on Hunter. “I…I’d understand if that’s what you want to do. It’s what you should do.”
The five of them felt the Marauder lurch into hyperspace, but still, Echo, Omega, Hunter, and Wrecker didn’t budge. Footsteps approached from the cockpit, and soon, Tech joined them, choosing to sit in the chair across from Crosshair. The silence grew, and Wrecked noticed the crease between the sniper’s eyebrows deepen while his eyes darted around the group.
“Well, aren’t any of you going to say something?” Crosshair asked, frustration creeping into his voice. He glanced around one more time, and finally stood up from the chair, a growl coming from his throat, back hunched like he was ready to pounce, and his gaze locked on Hunter, a finger pointed at the sergeant. “Listen, I didn’t ask you to come get me. I was ready to die on that platform after I shot the lieutenant, and I was ready to die in whatever maker-forsaken place they were going to send me. You hear me? I didn’t ask for this.” He gestured around the room, around the Batch.
“So don’t make me a burden you don’t want. Drop me anywhere. Leave me. It’s what I deserve - oof!”
Wrecker couldn’t take it anymore, and as he watched Crosshair teeter on the precipice of self-destruction, he took two strides towards his brother, and engulfed him in his arms.
Crosshair stiffened, his arms frozen mid-gesture to the side. Wrecker stood there, arms firmly wrapped around Crosshair’s back and shoulders, head dipping to rest on top of Crosshair’s head, and he waited. Eventually, Crosshair’s arms fell to his sides, but his body remained stiff like he wasn’t actually registering what was happening. Then, after a few breaths, his arms slowly rose, one wrapping under Wrecker’s arm and the other circling over his shoulder.
“Why did you come for me?” Wrecker heard muffled into his chestplate.
“We don’t leave our own behind,” Wrecker answered simply.
Wrecker felt the shaking first, then he heard the soft sobs. Tightening his arms, he held his once-lost brother as if challenging the galaxy to try and separate them again. When he felt Crosshair crumble into his chest, he released the grip he’d been holding on his own emotions, and the tears flowed freely. Tears of sorrow for what Crosshair endured. Tears of rage at the Empire. Tears of sweet relief at his family being whole again.
Wrecker felt a pair of arms sneak between his waist and Crosshair’s chest, and when he looked up, he saw Hunter wrapped around Crosshair’s back, arms crushing the sniper into the sergeant’s chest. “We’ve got you, Cross,” Hunter murmured.
One-by-one, Tech, Echo, and Omega joined in, the last squeezing herself into the middle, wrapping her arms around Crosshair’s leg, and even when the sobs quieted, they remained that way. There was a lot to talk about. A long road of trust to regain. They were about to navigate rough terrain. And the past will resurface, in old wounds, physical and not. But none of that mattered right now. In the middle of their home, a family reunited. Unsure what the future would bring them, but ready to face it all together.

Crosshair practicing!! of course he's working with Azi and Batcher is with him (people suck)!!
Crosshair's hand... What did they do to him??
Omega getting sniping lessons!!
Of course Hunter didn't want to give Cross his rifle back, I mean I get it but Crosshair working with his rifle again has to be big for his healing. Wrecker's "Omega trusts him."
Hunter's whistle!!
ECHOOOOOOO
53% I'm sobbing, this can’t be easy for Crosshair
Omega Echo hug!!
"No hug for me?" Crosshair you lil shit
Of course Echo is straight to business , he’s not angry or coddling over Cross’ return (see my Crosshair was the first to accept Echo post here)
"Without Tech." So when did Crosshair find out??? They way they all bowed their heads
Oof. The way Hunter just walks past Crosshair and Omega. (How is Hunter dealing with Crosshair being Omega's 'new favorite'?)
We finally got "I'm older than you, little brother" and of course it was Omega to Crosshair!!!!
Wrecker was the one to give him his armor back!! "It never felt right to get rid of it"
Snow planet... Hoth?? (Future Hawkins: “nope. Just pain.”)
Batcher in the snow!!
Why wouldn't Crosshair's armor fit? Was Wrecker calling him fat? lol
Oh no.... It's the outpost... Mayday I'm sobbing
"Kill each other later." Thanks Echo
"He started it." Nice.
Will hearing Mayday's story get Hunter to start trusting Crosshair again? (but that would taking Crosshair talking about it)
"It served its purpose." "Sounds familiar." BIG OOF
The heat lamp... The helmets of Mayday's men... Mayday..... Crosshair fixing the helmets I'm going to cryyyyyyyy
Of course Hunter was watching. TALK TO HIM.
"To check the perimeter." Like when he was there last time
RETURN OF THE TOOTHPICKS (were they in his armor?? They were definitely in his armor.)
Crosshair spitting FACTS, a lil harsh babes but yeah.
"Not alone." Hell yeah. Work together and love each other again dammit.
Echo is in the tower!! THE TOWER where Crosshair got blown out by the ship explosion and definitely said "fuck"
They're working as a team!!
Wrecker digging like Batcher I’m dead
Crosshair's hand, his lil shake, he's trying to hide it less and less. The rest of them have to know he's having issues, right??
"Glad you heard me properly." The snark!
He's using his rifle to break the ice... his precious rifle… Hunter matters more 🥹
The fact that they kept calling it 'the worm' was killing me, idk why.
Cross and Hunter’s lil nod of acknowledgement
Wrecker group hug!!
"I don't even see any blood this time. That's progress." I'm dying, thanks Echo
"There just might be hope for us yet."

Man, I don't know what to say about Arly's SQ, like it was pretty good and interesting and all, buy also a bit predictable due to seeing the animated short. The battle was kinda tough on me shsjssk, I didn't pick my best team and tried to do it mainly on Traveller LOL. That was a mess.
But on the other hand, that made me more convinced on pulling for her and, once again, I won 50/50! At 76 pity thou lol. Her weapon is so pretty but I cannot guarantee it so, never mind for now.
One thing I started thinking about. Freminet mentioned that he joined HotH after Clervie had died, and before Arlecchino killed Crucabena. Does that mean that, technically, Arlecchino was his big sister before? :D From big sis to father, shshsjsj.

Tumblr media
Graf von Krolock - Rob Fowler
Professor Abronsius - Till Jochheim
Alfred - Vincent Van Gorp
Chagal - Oleg Krasovitskii
Herbert - Jonas Steppe
Koukol - Alexander Ruttig
Sarah - Sandra Bitterli
Magda - Anja Backus
Rebecca - Carina Nopp
Tanzsolisten: Paolo Valenti / Andrea Giola / Kezia Coulson
Gesangssolisten: Lorenzo Di Girolamo / Simon Loughton
Ensemble: Jessie Vos, Frederik Stuhllemmer, Keny Oslen, Ian Vrolijk, Artem Salastelnyk, Demi Hubers, Nicole Klünsner, Rachel Bahler, Anne Hoth, Carina Fitzi, Chloe Lee Hill, Alice Giammerioli, Ginevra Serra Cassano
Orchester: Stage Operettenhaus, Dirigent: Martin Gallery
I had such a good time. I'm dumping my thoughts behind the readmore.
Everyone was fantastic, I was really curious to hear Rob Fowler as the new von Krolock and Anja Backus as Magda live especially.
The stage in Hamburg appeared a bit narrow compared to what I've seen online from other shows, I was a bit nervous with all the capes flying around during Rote Stiefel. During Einladung zum Ball Krolock's cape caught on the door to Alfred and Abronsius' room, but it was a quick fix with a tug lol.
I was actually really amazed Sarah took Krolock's hand towards the end of Einladung zum Ball and started to rise out of the bath. And during Totale Finsternis she went in for a kiss (that didn't happen) but holy shit, this Sarah was on it.
I really enjoyed Alfred, but it only just hit me how jarring it is to have Für Sarah right before Die Gruft. One song is about how brave he'll be, but the other how he's scared. Sure you can play it off as funny and ironic, but it tripped me up a bit this time round. It was so charming to hear Für Sarah live. And bless Vincent Van Gorp for having to crawl back on stage again during Tanzsaal to grab Abronsius' helmet he needs for the quick change.
I was trying to keep my eyes on 5 different characters during Tanzsaal, I think I missed Herbert doing something to the Vampire in the blue wig's sleeves. >.< I enjoyed this Herbert. I was a bit nervous because my mother was with me and I don't quite know her opinions, but imo this Herbert was not as giggly as some I had seen in recordings and so Wenn Liebe In Dir Ist seemed less as a joke. I know we as a fandom love Herbert and you may have a different opinion, but the whole 'make the bite attempt look like SA' as the punchline of the scene and whatever Chagal and Magda have going on are the things I warn people about when I recommend the musical.
I also liked this less screechy Abronsius. I thought the sound system could have done his fast songs more justice and it's a shame that this version of the musical doesn't have Abronsius call for Alfred at the very end any more. I love the Finale, but it kicked in so suddenly I missed some of the callback to the beginning of the musical and the tragedy of it a bit.
My mother had clocked that Sarah's family was Jewish with the Menorah during Das Gebet but she asked me if it was a recent addition. I was glad I had looked into it once. As far as I understand it, Roman Polanski (who is Jewish, that's the only thing I am focusing on here) had written 'Fearless Vampire Killers' to get back at Vampire Stories being based on antisemitic stereotypes. The Satire being that Chagal was actually Jewish this time. You want a Jewish Vampire? You're getting one, that kind of attitude. I read that the film was even supposed to have a scene in it where Chagal couldn't have his coffin in the graveyard with the other vampires because he was Jewish. Even as a Vampire he would still face antisemitism, to hold a mirror up to the vampire genre, but this was deemed too controversial by the the editors or someone and it was cut out of the film (which I have never watched, btw. Didn't really want to give Polanski more of my time than I had to, because of the Reasons). So my theory is that Magda and Chagal get pushed into the crypt in a wooden box as an allusion to this cut scene. But yes, in short, the Chagal family have always been Jewish. Whether or not Tanz der Vampire succeeds in being satirical or not I cannot judge for sure. (I had the compulsion to look all of this up because Chagal singing about it's totally OK sucking other people's blood worried me... I wanted to know what place this was coming from)
I was happy that Magda and Chagal got to sing some of the "Was ist dabei..." at the end if Geil Zu Sein ist Komisch outside of the coffin as well. It gave the performers a bit more time visible on stage.
One thing I thought was a bit of a shame was that the mirrors for Wenn Liebe in Dir Ist were rather narrow and in parts obscured by a column so that it was really hard to notice the dance double playing the reflection. We were also sat right in the middle of a row looking straight ahead to the stage. I don't think my mother noticed the dance doubles in Tanzsaal, either. I knew to look out for them, but it wasn't easy to see from the middle.
Sitting right at the back we also got the full blast of the flash lighting that happened during Einladung zum Ball, Carpe Noctem, and the second Finale. It was really unpleasant. If you are light sensitive, I'm afraid this would ruin your visit to the show. I don't know how it is in other areas of seating, but it's worth asking about if you ever do want to see it and are photosensitive in any way.
I had briefed my mother beforehand that the melody she was going to hear was Total Eclipse of the Heart because I didn't want her to be thinking and wondering where she had heard it before and be distracted from taking in the show or nudging me to say what the song is.
EDIT: I just remembered, the switch from Sarah to dance double Sarah in Rote Stiefel in this Hamburg production is a magic trick. All of a sudden there were two Sarahs and I don't even know where she came from. Super cool.
I think I mentioned everything I wanted to dump down soon after seeing it.
Oh wait, I am so glad I got to see Carpe Noctem live. Black Vampire my beloved. Grateful the dancers seem to be able to freestyle to some degree. Andrea Giola didn't do that jump where Black Vampire does the splits in mid air, and I'm grateful because otherwise my mother might have brought up when I used to do gymnastics XD
Made a shirt for going, btw. Didn't quite finish, but it was wearable ^^;;

Actually, I'm just going to add this thought here too while I'm at it: I'm just so enamoured by the fact that not all performers in a musical are native speakers and will learn the songs for their role in a language that is not necessarily known to them. When I was little, I was told if I want to do anything with languages I should become a translator and my mother kept talking about politics, being an ambassador, etc. But even now I never felt that kind of job is me. I'm not saying a musical performer's job is easy, it's very demanding and takes incredible dedication, but I'm a bit sad no one ever highlighted the language aspect to me. When Drew Sarich mentions in interviews he was sent to Germany with nothing but a lead role and a language coach and now I feel like his German sounds cleaner than mine, or Ivan Ozoghin says he only had two weeks to learn the German versions for Krolock, I'm still so impressed even though I will also learn Japanese songs I like by heart like the little weeb I am. What I am trying to say is: the arts also have space and reasons to learn another language, the musical industry is more international than I had ever thought it was, and there is more to "I want to do something with languages when I grow up" than being corporate. I now have a 9-5 office job that has nothing to do with languages, but sometimes I do wonder what turns my life could have had if my parents didn't have this vision of me in a business suit.

Overcoming Fears
Darth Vader x Reader
Chapter Eleven
-Hey guys, sorry for the wait lol, been swamped with school and stuff and a massive writers block on top of that. So anyway enjoy.
—————————————————————
Two days had passed, and you had finally received your assignments… or just when to be ready to leave for Hoth- It was a start. You and Perseus had planned to pack a weeks worth of uniforms into a very small duffel bag. No one knew how long you would be there- and really, neither did the Sith…
That Hoth Facility held the best Medics of the Galaxy. Besides the Tie Fighter accident, the Emperor had practically destroyed Lord Mira’s leg. Terra couldn’t help her, but they could.
Your boss decided to show up today, and made it his mission to aggravate you as much as he possibly could. You were tired almost all day. When you could finally leave you practically ran out of the office and to your room. Quickly showering and jumping into bed. It was hardly a few minutes before you were dead alseep. You knew you had to leave tomorrow and had to finish packing, but at this point you decided to figure it out later.
Only hours later you heard faint knocking from down the hall. Half asleep you listened to the knocking continue until the door opened. Relived the noise had been eliminated, you drifted back to sleep. Suddenly the door to your room slid open, the bright light of the hallway beamed into the room and onto your face. You groaned, rolling over towards the wall, attempting to hide from the light.
“Get up, we’re leaving.” A voice called demandingly from the doorway. You rolled back over, propping yourself up on your elbow, squinting towards the door at the figure leaning against it. “I said get up, and hurry.” Mira spoke as your eyes finally adjusted to the light. She was dressed more comfortably than normal. She had simple black robes instead of her chest plate. Only one of her sabers hung from her belt. Her cloak still hung over her arms, and white bandages wrapped tightly around her wounded leg.
“What’s going on?” You groaned, sliding out of bed.
“We are leaving for Hoth. There is a time difference and we are on a tight schedule. Lord Vader is already waiting on the ship.” She turned, pushing herself off the doorframe, “Get ready, I’m walking Perseus to the bay.” She took a step, her knee bending down to a kneel in response to the pain of her leg. She grasped the other side of the door frame, quickly pushing herself back up. “or maybe he’ll walk me-“ she mumbled unintelligibly, limping back down the hall.
You gathered the last of your things, stuffing them in your small bag. Mira arrived back to your room just when you had finished. She held onto the door frame just as always, keeping the pressure off of her leg. She had been using the force to walk to make sure she didn’t injure herself further.
“Okay,” you said, slinging your bag over your shoulder and turning back to the Sith, “I wouldn’t want to keep you and Lord Vader waiting, so I am ready.” She starred silently at you for a moment as a grin overtook her lips. “Wh- what is it?” You asked, confused at her expression.
“I don’t think the Generals on Hoth will think very highly of you wearing Pajamas as a new Uniform…” she laughed. You glanced down, remembering you had not changed into your uniform yet. Wow you were tired.
“Oh,” you chuckled, “right- I’ll uh, change then.”
She nodded, smiling again, as she turned back to the hallway, shutting the door through the force for you. Embarrassed, you quickly changed into a uniform from your bag. Ironically, it turned out to be the same blood stained uniform she had marked a few days earlier after the “Stormtrooper Explosion.” You stepped back out the door, turning back to the pad to lock it before you left. Mira leaned against the wall on the opposite side of the door, in between you and Perseus’.
“Boots, General.” She chuckled right before you could lock the door. You glanced down once again. Yep, still in socks. You dropped the bag at your side, sighing as you walked back inside, sliding on your boots next to the door. You were positive you had everything now, and if not, she would notice. You stepped back out the door, locking it behind you. The Sith stepped off the wall as you grabbed your bag, following her down the hall.
As you entered the docking bay, you could hear the low hum of the shuttle’s engine, echoed through the silent bay as it prepared to take off. Side by side, the two of you climbed the ramp. When you reached the top, she grabbed a handle next to a control panel. Perseus and Terra were already seated across from each other in the small cabin. You stepped to a seat, one away from Perseus, slinging your bag in the cargo slot overhead. Mira pressed a button on the pad, which pulled the ramp back up, locking it into place just as you sat down. She stepped back over the ramp, taking the place of the hole in the floor, sitting down in the Co-Pilot seat next to Vader.
“Alright, let’s go-“ Mira sighed, glancing up to Vader. After pressing a few buttons, and returning his hand to the control wheel, within moments you were in the atmosphere, flying at the speed of light.
The journey was quiet, besides the occasional low chatting of the Sith. Curious, and mainly bored, you decided to work up enough courage to listen to their conversation, the best you could of course. You did not wish to be caught, or sensed, no one eavesdropping on Sith would.
“The Emperor will be meeting us at the facility once we arrive.” You could hear Lord Vader announce, a few moments later.
“What!?” Lord Mira exclaimed, louder than her original tone, standing next to her seat, gazing down at Vader, hardly visible to you anymore.
“You are not supposed to put much pressure on your leg, sit down.”
“You don’t even have legs, don’t tell me to sit down.” Mira snapped. You forced your laugh back down, only letting a fairly loud exhale escape.
“Sit down,” He repeated, his voice, loud and stern, “or you may loose a leg.” She scoffed, slowly sitting back in her seat, her eyes still fixed to his mask.
“He is the reason this has happened, why is he still involving himself?” She motioned to her leg, and the beginning and end of the scar over her eye. Her voice was calmer now, and more controlled.
“Would you rather he finish what he began?” Vader questioned, “You were not the only one harmed for the General’s incompetence.”
‘Was that where the scars on his chest plate came from?’ You thought to yourself. ‘And the one across Mira’s eye?’
Vader and Mira’s conversation continued unintelligible to you anymore. Almost half an hour later the ship shifted as it existed hyperspace. The large, white planet appeared ahead of its course. Entering the atmosphere, the ship lowered into the hangar of the large facility.
Mira, followed by Lord Vader, entered the seating room that you, Perseus, and Terra were in just as the ship landed. The ramp extended into the snow as the hatch of the hanger closed overhead. The three of you gathered your things, quickly following the sith out and down the rows of awaiting snow troopers. Mira walked carefully on Vader’s right side. It was freezing. You hated it and assumed Mira did also as she was somehow limping quicker than Vader’s powerful strides. Most likely trying to hurry this interaction so she could get out of the cold.
Eventually they reached the Emperor and his red-armour guards. You, Perseus and Terra did your best to kept your distance as they spoke. Not being able to hear very much of their conversation so you couldn’t be accused of eavesdropping.
———————————————————
“Master” Mira bowed briefly along with Vader.
“Greetings, Lord Mira…” the emperor responded, practically ignoring Vader, “I hope your trip and extra individuals have not caused you any inconvenience.”
“They have not, Master.” Her voice was low, and her stance seemed uneasy. She was obviously uncomfortable and anxious.
“Good…” he replied, sensing her discomfort, yet choosing to ignore it. “Lord Vader, will you escort our Lord Mira inside..”
“Yes, Master.” Vader replied before swiftly guiding Mira around the Emperor’s guards and into the facility.
The older man stepped slightly forward, toward your misplaced group.
“General L/n… the reason we were summoned to this dreadful place.” he spoke. You had now concluded everyone here despised Hoth and the cold. He continued, sensing your confusion, “Your original strategies caused Lord Mira to loose a majority of her troops. She was then blamed by Lord Vader for your mistake…”
“I apologise my Lord, I am still unsure of what caused that.” You replied quickly. His tone along with his bright yellow eyes could intimidate anyone, especially you.
“Now is too late for apologise. Lord Vader has already informed you you will be learning from a General with less fatal mistakes than you have. We expect your skills, and those of your companions to improve on this visit.” The Emperor waved his hand to his guards as he spoke.
After bowing to the emperor, and excusing your group, the three of you hurried into the facility. As you all warmed yourself in the heat of the hallway, a mouse droid delivered Holopads to you all, which consisted of your assignments for the next few days.
Terra then left you and Perseus to go find the medical bay. As you two wandered the halls, passing numerous other generals and troopers along the way, you tried to act as if you knew where you were going. The holopad included a map of the facility which was very handy for you to use. Other officers and generals there had much different uniforms than you. Theirs was designed to keep its wearer warm in the frigid temperatures. While yours kept you cooler in the heat of Mustafar, which was the complete opposite of what you needed.
After quickly touring the facility, you and Perseus met Terra to find your rooms. Conveniently, the three were directly next to each other in the corner of the living quarters. The rooms were as large as a suite in a lodging cabin, much larger than your room on Mustafar. These consisted of a large bathroom, less cramped than the other, a bigger bed, and a small kitchen area in the far corner.
The three of you felt luxurious as you got ready for bed that night, and ready to tackle the day tomorrow.

Hello there! 👋🏽 It’s me again, the anon with comments about the Mandalorian reader 😅 Sorry to bug you once again but if so please delete this! But I agree with what you said about the Bad Batch’s interactions with Mandalorian culture and Hoth’s groups’ ties with family.
One thing that actually sounds interesting though is how the Batch would react to a Mandalorian who goes strictly by the creed and refuses to remove their helmet. I feel like Wrecker would be curious lol
I LOVE THAT IDEA I’m picturing poor Wrecker trying to share a snack with Mando!reader 😂😂😂 I think it’d go a little something like:
- “Here, Mando, aren’t you hungry? Try this- it’s choice!” Wrecker would hand them the box of snacks and Mando!reader would probably say something like:
- “Oh! That’s ok Wreck! You and Omega enjoy- I really don’t need any!”
- “Come onnnn Mando just try a bite, I heard you say you like spicy food- this snack mix is made for you!“
- “Aw Wrecker, it’s really sweet of you to offer- I would! but… I can’t take my helmet off in front of anyone, so I can’t take it off to eat in public or have a snack.”
- *shock, horror* “You don’t snack, ever????”
- *shrugs* “Not unless I’m alone, no”
- Wrecker would just laugh and say - “But sharing the snack is the best part of the snack!! - You Mandos are so weird, I can’t believe I’m related to one!”
- Mando!reader would totally laugh along with him like - “I suppose we are weird- I guess I’ve never known any different!”
later that day, Mando!reader would find a little piece of cloth wrapped up by their bunk that has an individual serving of the snack from earlier that Wrecker and Omega saved for them to try 🥹🥹🥹

Idk if you've answered this before or if you've made your own canon for ves and lana but what canon choices did ves make during her class story? Is lana introduced sooner than the revan expansion?
alllright *cracks knuckles* sith clown time!!! (art by yarpell)
Tumblr media
My OCs for each class exist in the same canon verse where my Jedi Knight, Aelirra, is the Outlander and Alliance Commander. Their stories happen in parallel with the game’s main events, with most of their paths converging during the Alliance era, then diverging after. It’s the same for Ves, except she meets Lana much earlier.
For Vestra’s canon choices, I’ll just mention the more ‘significant’ ones? (which really isn’t a lot lol)
On Nar Shaddaa, she chose to cure the plague instead of wiping out the Krayts gang, finding twisted amusement in a Sith being revered as a healer and saviour. She takes over the cult, and has it run to her specifications.
She bound all of the ghosts by force in Act 2, save for Horak-mul on Hoth. Horak seemed eager to go with her, and Ves wanted to know how it feels to bind a ghost willingly.
In Act 3, she freed the Mother on Belsavis because the machine’s capabilities intrigued her, and she wanted to win it over so that she could look into augmenting herself in future. On Voss, she gave the dream-walking Gormak, Hadrik, passage offworld, and Force persuaded the Voss who confronted her in the airlock. It was the best she'd felt in ages, her mind and body whole once more, and Lord Lenshe was feeling magnanimous enough to hold up her end of the bargain.
For the Silencer CN-12 chip quest, she retained her cult and Force persuaded the Veil into serving her. During the Kaggath, she won over Darth Achelon and Lord Skar as allies, painfully aware that her power base is small and needs to grow beyond Pyron's fleet.
For the final Khem/Zash choice, she kept Khem instead of Zash.
In the end, she gained the canon title of Darth Nox, because she leaned very heavily into the dark side during the class story. (I changed it to Darth Avriss in my fics, cos I’m picky like that) She also released all the ghosts; she was so damn sick of them by then, and craved some time alone.
As for Lana, they meet way back in Act 1. After Ves collected two of four Hord artifacts, Zash recalled her to attend a Sith Lord’s soiree - they met here and had a one-night stand. They’ll meet again on Hoth in Act 2, and have another roll in the sheets. (It’s cold, okay??) After Ves ascended to the Dark Council, they became friends with benefits, and grew closer from there.
By the time Marr asked Ves to help on Makeb, she and Lana were a couple. Ves wasn’t involved with the events of SoR and Ziost (my JK has that…traumatising ‘honour’), but she’s there to catch Lana after Ziost beat her girl down.
During the five years while the Outlander was in carbonite, and Lana’s on the run from the Empire (can’t remember if this is hc or canon), Ves basically acted as Lana’s rock and secret accomplice. The initial idea of forming an alliance to fight the Eternal Empire came from Ves, and while Lana contacts Theron to rustle up Republic support, Ves pulls on her network in the Empire. So when the Alliance is finally formed, most Imperial recruits (and a lot of the initial resources) are there because of Ves. Aelirra may be the Alliance's Commander, but Ves is its sugar mommy.

I said I would talk a bit about whenever I find Aria picking the Light-side option over the Dark-side options, so coming at you with another headcanon post! This one is less of a surprise to me, but it’s still interesting enough to make a talk-y post about so here we go: this Imperial scientist...medic..whatever guy, on Hoth. The Light-side option is to heal him and let him run off, Dark-side option is to let him die of hypothermia. Of course, in this instance, Aria picks the LS option. Not necessarily out of the goodness of her heart but purely because she is, after all, a sleeper agent and she understands that letting this guy die means one less medic for the Imperials. Therefore, healing him up and letting him go is a no-brainer for her. Also as far as the scientist guy goes, from the Consular storyline. I do headcanon that she lets him live for the same reason, although he never actually gets to the Republic as a prisoner of war, as instead Aria’s father sends someone to “intercept” the soldiers taking him prisoner so he is returned to the Empire to work under her father; because again...why kill him, or risk letting him go to the Republic where he can squeal about the Empire’s secrets to the Republic/the Jedi when Noctis can just as easily send another Sith (possibly Vano, but not sure on the timeline and how that would line up. So it might be Vano in the final draft or it might end up being some other rando depending on how that works out as I get to writing that part lol) to pick him up and ensure none of this gets to their enemies ;)

i'm kinda indifferent to the five stars in honkai star rail this patch. Undead lady is more interesting than the IRS. And I'm still not a big fan of constantly going back and forth to save Hoth over and over again. But yay, Himeko did something important w/o chapter 9ing. lol

I’m just going to weigh in here a bit about the tour differences. Because I agree with you about not comparing L and H with their shows. L’s tour is more like indie shows because that is the genre he’s moving towards. L’s tour fits that genre. It’s music based. Pop music, which is H’s genre is completely different and is more like a performance. I guess I’m confused why people don’t see the difference. Maybe they haven’t been to an indie concert before? I think his stage presence is improving but yes this is only his 2nd tour and it hasn’t lasted 2 years, so yeah let’s give him time. But, again he’s doing what is on brand for an indie show. I also think that yes, he may have cut OTB from his shows but he also set his own rainbow light show with the mega mix. That does show that maybe he is a little more in touch than what people give him credit for. L inspired fans to wave their flags and do their own light show during that song. So he actually started with his support and then the fans joined in to make it really a lovely collective experience. I think it’s also hard to please everyone with what they want for him to sing. Because maybe if you really want to hear Chicago and he skips it to play paradise for example, well you’ll have just as many fans say the opposite. I think collectively everyone loves the mega mix and waoyf, he’s kept both of those as staples to his set. Bigger than me seems pretty difficult to sing so I see why he cuts that from time to time, especially if he’s having voice issues or he has multiple shows in a row. He always gives 21-23 songs each night, except in special circumstances. Personally I like the variety of songs he chooses because that is less predictable. All musicians do that and yes, even H did that same thing. I think it’s also a very different experience to be in the audience than it is watching on a livestream. Regardless of how many times you go to a show, it somehow feels new.
Hi anon,
I recognise that Louis clearly wants to do indie, but that's not where his strenghts lie, and i can argue that that's not what his fans wants. He is funny, got good banter, is charming, handsome, sexy, cheeky and loving towards his fans. He's the perfect pop star or boyband member.
To pull off indie, that's very music focused as you say, you need stage presence, emotional delivery, a unique voice, indie songs and a guitar to play. And last but not least a fanbase who loves indie music first and ogling his ass second. That's not us lol. Louis music is a bit all over the place, but most songs can be called pop. He doesn’t play an instrument, or have any moves (other than hand on tummy) and he dosn't pull off the right indie attitude like broody, depressed or devil may care.
I agree that it's hard to pick a setlist everyone's happy with. I think cutting songs is the problem here, not adding. I wish he did like 20 of the same songs every show and added two new that he randomly chose on top of that. People would know what to expect, but also get excited to get songs others didn’t get. Also when uas ask if people prefer common people or hoth and 95% says hoth then you cut common people. It's not that hard.

It feels very cosmically appropriate that the biggest pillars of the sci-fi and fantasy genres in the 20th century, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, are both trilogies that have a superior second installment, in both cases mainly because the middle film/book has all the good fights.
The battle on Hoth is easily the best in the series, though honestly it’s partly because there aren’t that many other good contenders. The Death Star trench run is cool, but kind of… linear (literally), and the battle against the second Death Star in ROTJ is like, barely an afterthought. The only thing anybody remembers about that part of the movie is Lando’s copilot being a racist caricature.
More importantly, you have Luke versus Vader on Cloud City, which is… kind of the only real lightsaber fight in the entire original trilogy. Technically they fight again in ROTJ but neither of them really have their hearts in it, and the ‘fight’ in ANH barely even qualifies as such. Not only that, the Cloud City fight is just really great in general, and happens to include the most iconic line in the entire franchise. Plus it’s brave enough to have the protagonist get comprehensively owned by the bad guy, which is a genuinely bold choice in a franchise that’s otherwise chock full of cliches.
Then in Two Towers, you have Helm’s Deep, which is the best sequence in the entire trilogy, plus the battle at Isengard. Compared to that, Fellowship has what, the fight in the mines? A chase sequence with the ringwraiths? The battle at the very end? Nothing terribly exciting overall. And ROTK (I was today years old when I realized how weird it is those two very nearly share a name) lacks a particularly satisfying climax, which is kind of a weak point of the trilogy as a whole. Sauron shoulda manifested his scary armor form and had a duel with Aragorn or something, the Mount Doom stuff just doesn’t get the blood pumping.
Actually, while I’m on the topic of edits I’d make, I have two big ones. The first is that I’d give Boba Fett at least one good scene in Empire. He’s kind of pointless in that whole movie, except to fly away with Han towards the end, which is clearly meant to set him up as a future antagonist (which Return follows up on rather lamely). You could cut that totally pointless sequence with the Falcon crew on that asteroid and instead give them a cool fight with Boba that would set him up as a threatening antagonist whose presence forces them to flee to Cloud City.
As for the other edit, it’s less specific- I just feel like it would have been nice to see what the One Ring can actually *do* once or twice. Like, yes, I get it, it’s a metaphor, it represents power as an abstract concept, and only Frodo can carry it because he’s a goody good boy. But actually showing what its power *is* wouldn’t hurt the metaphor at all. Yeah, it can turn people invisible, and that has some practical uses, but nobody wants it because it would make them the perfect assassin, they want it because it represents power incarnate, and making Frodo sneaky (which he never even gets to use for most of the trilogy) doesn’t really sell that, IMO.
And yes, for the record, I’m aware nothing I ever write will be as good (or, perhaps more importantly, as commercially successful) as either of those two. But I don’t think they’re above criticism either. (Star Wars especially, lol)
