Here are some interesting tidbits I found in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story that I wanted to share:
During the scene of Al and Madonna making out, the mirror in Al's bedroom says "If money can't buy happiness, I guess I'll have to rent it."
Tumblr media
These are lyrics from "This is the Life" off of Al's Dare to Be Stupid album
Dr. Demento name's a bunch of movie roles that Al turns down including Indiana Jones and 007 James Bond,
Tumblr media
Al parodied Indiana Jones at the start of his UHF movie
Tumblr media
And Al did a James Bond style parody for the movie Spy Hard.
Coolio can be seen in the audience when Al is performing Amish Paradise,
Tumblr media
And he has the same hairstyle that Al parodied for his Bad Hair Day album.

Ooc: god damnit how did my funny "talk to all my hundreds of OC's blog" end up with:
Furries overthrowing a mafia as it's starting, also bringing a joke character into the spotlight, and showing people characters I have long forgotten. For some reason. EDIT: AND NOW THERE IS GAY PANIC FOR SOME REASON. GOD DAMNIT WHY DO I MAKE MY GAY CHARACTERS SUCH PUSHOVERS (@ignisuada )
Local engineer goes from dying forever in turbo hell to saving a bunch of civilians by fixing shit he was fixing back in turbo hell. (@station-3-drama )
And mx *literally fucking everything under the sun* (@f4y3w00d5 ) flirts with EVERYONE and also tries to convince the council to help them save their boyfriend. Edit: and apparently goes missing immediately after.
Hopefully that had nothing to do with us
Oh and on the topic of romance kinda, the creepypasta parody and the fucking zombie vampire slayer are dating some of @the-jester-doc 's ocs.
Usually they are tagged hyaline.exe or ghosthunter if you give a shit. They each have Spotify playlists too because my brain is weird and gay and cringe 👍
Unhinged ramblings under cut.
I mean it's fun but not what I was expecting it was supposed to be mini comics and shit.
I still want to do mini comics. Just don't have time. Yet.
Hell I'm working on one currently and it took me half an hour to make something that looks decent. AND ITS ONLY ONE PANEL. FUCK YOU CLONE 007, WHY MUST YOU BE SO DETAILED
AND WHY DID I GIVE YOU FOOTWRAPS? I GIVE EVERYONE BOOTS FOR A REASON. THEY ARE EASY TO FUCKIN DRAW!

Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers: Double 0' Chipmunk Review (Comission for RainbowSixVegasSamurai)
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy rangers and it's a new day yes it is because I got a comission from a new person. Always lovely. Longtime fan first time comissioner rainbowsixvegas samurai wanted me to take a look at some cccchip n dale, with it's 007 spoof Double O Chipmunk.
Admitely.. i'm not a huge spy fiction guy. It's just not a thing I seek out outside of mission impossible. So you'd THINK this would be a weird fit for me. And while it kinda is there is one part of it I have a small soft spot for: parodies. I watched archer for some time, I loved the film Spy, and as for the soundtrack to the musical spies are forever
Tumblr media
I don't seek them out persay, but I can enjoy them as the tropes of the genre are woven into the pop culture and they have a hightned goofiness to them most modern spy stuff, trying ot be more realistic, dosen't have. So I was fine with covering one and seeing what chip n dale brought to the table. And the premise is pretty neat: Dale watches a ton of the CND universes Bond parody and wants to try and apply that to rescue rangering and it swerves into another neat plot from there. Does it work or is it shaken not stirred? let's find out.
The setup is simple but effective: Dale and Zipper are watching a Dirk Suave, Double'O Super Spy film. And it has easily the worst part of the episode: Odd Shoe, Dirk's cowardly racist caracture of an asian person who works as his sidekick. Bond films certainly had their racisim but .. this was never a thing and I struggle to think why the writers here thought it was a good thing to ad. I'd just.. like to go one disney afternoon review that isn't goof troop without slamming head first into casual late 80's racisim
Tumblr media
The rest of the episode thankfully isn't.. anything like that and we get into the main meat nice and quickly: Dale's been watching these films a lot and Chip, as usual is just a tad pissy about it. In this case he's mad Dale didn't go with them to look for cases at the police station. Which is just a hilariously .. weird statment for me. I had to look it up and see if they really have that many human related cases and well, they do, so looking for weird crimes involving animals makes more sense than It hought. That said Chip being pissy at Dale for not going when A) he'd have to know Dale wasn't going up front and it dosen't come off like Dale lied about why he wasn't going and B) This REALLY isn't a 4 person operation. You need ONE of them at a minimum, probably 2 in case they find a case in progress and need to go NOW.
In fact having someone at your HQ when your not on a mission and your public figures with a known headquarters, is just.. smart. It's the reason the avengers in the comics have Jarvis the butler. I mean Dale could be doing something to actually help out while their there, true, but it's weird Chip assumes they all have to be there to talk to clients and set up missions. He's basically the team's leader: it's HIS job to meet with clients unless he has better buisness. It's something I can see even in say Helluva Boss: Blitzo may be a lot of things and most of those are a hot mess.. but he's not handled the
Tumblr media
Side of things exactly one episode I can think of and he was understandably worried about his sister. If Chip dosen't want to formally say he's in charge because Dale would throw a fit fine but then don't get pissy when Dale dosen't do what you'd rathe rhim do like study a crime file or something, especailly when that something DOSEN'T require him.
Not only that while Dale is spending tons of time watching movies.. he IS actually planning to help the buisness, suggesting they take the super spy tricks from the movie and apply them to their stuff. Is it the BEST buisness strategy? Not really and I get Chip dismissing it to a point: It'd be a possible waste of time and resources. I'm really more sore for Chip's reason for disliking it: it's because Dale thinks it's a good idea.
Tumblr media
So Dale naturally tries to prove chip wrong. And the how is well done in how bad an idea it is: he tries to dick around in gadget's lab and make the gadgets. Naturally this goes caca with his wrist gas grenades just falling off and his helicopter pack blowing upa nd everyone laughs at him... and the poor guy runs out while Chip is just happy to be right.
Gadget goes to comfort him but Dale's convinced becaues he screwed this bad idea up.. hes' just a screw up and no one respects him. Which is quite sadly a mood for me. Granted he did screw up but in my eyes it's not just the failure... it's the laughter. It's the fact Chip.. dosen't take him seriously. We see both sides as Chip, while annoying, does have a point Dale dicks around a lot.. but Dale was GENUINELY trying to help> He reminds me of Hank Venture: his heart is in the right place but his head is in some weird parallel dimension that only makes sense to him. It's an objectively stupid plan, but what makes you feel for Dale is what it meant for him: in a team where the others are his detective best friend, gorgeous genius crush and badass aussie, it's hard to not feel he has no real role here.
Gadget feels bad and decides to help. Her plan is an old sitcommy standby: fake a mission so Dale feels better. It's the kind of plot you've seen a million times and just gets boring. It only works here because the work is old enough. Not old enough for it to have NEVER been a trope but old enough to be before Spongebob did it better or a million other things ran it into the ground.
So as seen in the article image, Gadget shows up playing her femme fetale sister and sends dale on a mission to get microfilm. She also kisses him deeply. And this episode must be the holy grail for Gadget and Dale shippers. The attempts to comfort him, doing this whole scheme, kissing him really damn hard, even if it's for the bit. And honestly out of the two options in the main love triangle.. Dale just fits her better. He's got this loose weirdo energy that fits her spaciness. Chip just seems updight.. and also gets horribly jealous over this even though his bullying is the whole reason this game happened. As you'd expect, some real spies show up for a real microfilm, it gets mixed up, Dale finds out it's a game but still thinks it's real and plans to mess with them only to end up in a real thing. This part of the episode is ab it weak if you've seen enough of these. While using this cliche dosen't hurt most of the episode as the disguises are fun enough as is Gadget's hastily made double o gadgets for the first part, it does hurt this portion.
So our heroes end up inside a giant doomsday weapon. The spies finallyr ealize dale REALLY thinks this is a game after everyone tried to tell them that, and this is really what helps the use of this cliche and makes the episode: the fact instead of INSTANTLY getting that "shit this is real moment" the villians actually get to use this to their advantages. Our heroes escape in time of course to avoid getting blasted when Dale turns the rat's bosses super tank on, but it's still neat to see some sort of twist.
So Dale pilots a tank with his mind to chase the spies
Tumblr media
Chip apologizes, our heroes win and beat the spy. And this episode is .. alright. It's not the greatest bit of storytelling, Chip's a bit of an asshole, and the plot i've seen a billion times but it's charming. And not just because of that gadget outfit. It's got a sense of fun to it, it's not reallyt aking this plot too seriously, has a nice twist on it, and it's fun seeing the hastily made gadgets gadget whipped up. It's not a bad watch, it's just nothing incredible.

#Shezow #ThinkingAboutReviewingEachEpisode #ColdFinger #Sheviews #MyThoughts
(Images and video not mine but links are there.)
Episode 1 Part 2 Coldfinger
I really like the title cards this show has and they remind me of The Fairly Odd Parents title cards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buttwipe really be like a kid friendly parody version of this show though.
Jackass (franchise) - Wikipedia
Tumblr media
I guess the Senor Blowtadas Spicy Hot Chipadillas are like if Doritos and Takis collaborated together.
I like it that Maz was like I'm glad those old folks didn't get hurt by our marble trick and Guy was like that's cool we got those old folks doing a cheerleader pyramid trick.
I know where Guy's priorities are.
Apparently there is a one day Shezow comic con which is interesting.
Also the poster has the new Shezow plastered everywhere which is strange.
I wonder who took these images of Shezow to make these?
Because in the pilot episode Shezow was in the Shehicle with Kelly and accidently crash into the  Pushy Pirate Posse's pirate ship to "defeat them".
Tumblr media
Also guy was just about to walk away from his responsibilities but his sister is the president so she had to push him in gear.
Also Guy is spooked of bugs.
This is the I suck at answering question so here is a listening device that will mess up when you need it the most episode.
Here we go.
Tumblr media
Guy is slowing getting progressive. Like the "Come to papa." and Maz is like "Don't you mean mama?" And Guy is like "Depends on what I'm wearing." 13:58-14:06
I strangely remember that line from when I first watched this show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We finally get to see Coldfinger and I really like his design especially his ice wolverine claws he can do.
He already makes ice puns right out the gate.
He was the past president of the Shezow fan club before Kelly replaced him.
He was late on his dues and I would love to know what that means.
I would like to know more about his past.
Like was he born a ice person or science made him that way?
Tumblr media
Also seems like him and his mom have a ice company business. Good thing they are set up shop in Megadale.
He is way older than Guy but the wiki says he's 17 but I thought he was 14 when I first saw him but I'm not sure.
His real name is Timmy and he has that Big Bang Theory Mom talks off screen joke.
He loves cold cuts but I wonder it's the meat kind or just cut up ice?
Cold Finger is a parody of Gold Finger from 007.
Tumblr media
He really is the Shezow version of  Brain Freezer from Johnny Test.
Cold Finger (Character) | SheZow Wiki | Fandom

Someone on youtube said this Coldfinger face should be a meme at 19:40 but it reminds me of Professor Oak's and Imposter Professor Oak's face.

Impostor Professor Oak Concepts - Giant Bomb
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey we get Maz's first costume Meatier Man and he's got the Lady Gaga meat outfit going on that attracts not only smell but all the dogs in the tri state area.
Tumblr media
I feel bad for Cold Finger (Timmy) he just wanted to ask his question but was interrupted and skipped over.
He probably wouldn't have attacked if you just let the man tell his question Kelly.
The "We're just friends." line at 17:31. I wonder what that question was about?
My guess is for Tara.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My favorite scene. 18:07-18:13
Tumblr media
I like it how Maz just walks up on the fight to tell Guy that they won the contest.
That's pretty rude.
Tumblr media
Also the title card image pose returns at 18:31.
Cold Finger can summon snow people which is pretty cool but I guess this might be the last time we see them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like it that Cold Finger was like um actually Shezow doesn't have a sidekick.
He says "That's what he smells like." To the number two joke then says "You're dead meat pork chop." as he just pokes Maz.
Tumblr media
Finally Guy uses his laser lipstick on non humanoid enemies which is cool.
I feel sorry for the snow people but Shezow called Cold Finger a snowflake.
Tumblr media
Then the show finally explains the hair messing up mechanic that Shezow loses all powers.
19:52-20:03
Then later telling the solution later.
20:11-20:14
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We almost lost Shezow if Shelia wasn't there to tell him.
Also if his ice claws break it hurts him. Interesting.
My favorite poses.
20:21-20:24
The show just put a beating up the bad guy montage with a heavy handed super she slap like a final smash to end the fight.
Shezow says "Mine's bigger. What to play patty cake ice man?" This is after Cold Finger looks at his hands.
While causing property damage when she slapping him into the parking lot then Cold Finger makes a ice pun by himself with no on around.
20:44-20:51
I like it that Cold Finger is like going full nature then is like ooh ice cream person is here.
I like it that Maz can do a fake man's voice like he's from looney tunes and even doing a food version of a hot foot joke that cartoons do.
That blew my mind that was Maz because his silhouette was the meat costume.
21:20-21:22
I like it that Cold Finger didn't ask how much the ice cream was or even check what he just ate.
Then later checked then melted.
I guess he was born frozen.
They forgot to unfreeze Kelly and at the end she shows up drenched and if the show wasn't 22 minutes then they would have did that we forgot something joke with Kelly still frozen today or would have had Maz save her off screen.
At the end guy says a ice pun to Kelly then it just ends.
This show talks about the change mechanic where it's the danger sense that can change him or "You Go Girl" changes him then "She Yeah" changes him back.
22:42-23:16
I give this a 8/10.

My dear girl, there are some things that just aren't done, such as drinking Dom Perignon '53 above the temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit. That's just as bad as listening to The Beatles without earmuffs!” A blog inspired by the music world of James Bond
Part 1 Stirred and not shaken that was right the creation of the most successful film franchise in ciniema history
Introduction
Hello there and welcome to an expanded version of a blog I originally wrote last year devoted to the musical tastes of James Bond the original idea was to write a 5 part blog on the complete James Bond story with a Chapter devoted to each era of the franchise.
When writing and researching the first chapter called Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang I began to realise what a big task this would be and decided to change tack. I have decided instead to present an extended version of that musical blog with this being the first chapter It will aim to tell a more complete story behind the James Bond Franchise
Tumblr media
From the Book shelf to the cinema screen
Ian Fleming first wrote Dr. No as a television outline for film producer Henry Morgenthau III to promote the Jamaican tourism industry. After this project fell through Fleming began meeting with Canadian film producer Harry Saltzman about making a screen adaptation.
Although Fleming was not a fan of the "kitchen-sink realist" genre Saltzman was known for producing, after seeing Saturday Night and Sunday Morning Fleming sold him the rights to all of the James Bond novels except Casino Royale and Thunderball for $50,000. After Saltzman gained the rights for the novel, he initially had trouble financing the project. Screenwriter Wolf Mankowitz introduced Saltzman to Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli, who wanted the rights to the novels and attempted to buy them from Saltzman. Saltzman did not want to sell the rights to Broccoli and instead, they formed a partnership to make the films. A number of Hollywood film studios did not want to fund the films, finding them "too British" or "too blatantly sexual".[9] Eventually the two received authorisation from United Artists to produce Dr. No, to be released in 1962. Saltzman and Broccoli created two companies: Danjaq, which was to hold the rights to the films, and Eon Productions, which was to produce them.
Initially Broccoli and Saltzman had wanted to produce the eighth Bond novel, 1961's Thunderball, as the first film, but there was an ongoing legal dispute between the screenplay's co-author, Kevin McClory, and Ian Fleming.
This article from the Screenrant website details how Thunderball nearly become James Bonds debut adventure at the cinema and if it had been made how it would have altered the James Bond film series over the next 61 years read it by clicking here https://screenrant.com/james-bond-first-007-movie-thunderball-franchise-changes/
As a result, Broccoli and Saltzman chose Dr. No:[1 the timing was apposite, with claims that American rocket testing at Cape Canaveral had problems with rockets going astray.
Tumblr media
While producers Broccoli and Saltzman originally sought Cary Grant for the role, they discarded the idea as Grant would be committed to only one feature film, and the producers decided to go after someone who could be part of a series.Richard Johnson has claimed to have been the first choice of the director, but he turned it down because he already had a contract with MGM and was intending to leave.[27] Another actor purported to have been considered for the role was Patrick McGoohan on the strength of his portrayal of spy John Drake in the television series Danger Man: McGoohan turned down the role.[28] Another potential Bond included David Niven, who later played the character in the 1967 parody Casino Royale.
There are several apocryphal stories as to whom Ian Fleming personally wanted. Reportedly, Fleming favoured actor Richard Todd.[30] Fleming's stepson Paul Morgan claims that Fleming preferred Edward Underdown.[8] In his autobiography When the Snow Melts, Cubby Broccoli said Roger Moore had been considered, but had been thought "too young, perhaps a shade too pretty". In his autobiography, My Word Is My Bond, Moore says he was never approached to play the role of Bond until 1972, for Live and Let Die. Moore appeared as Simon Templar on the television series The Saint, airing in the United Kingdom for the first time on 4 October 1962, only one day before the premiere of Dr. No.
Ultimately, the producers turned to 31-year-old Sean Connery for five films. It is often reported that Connery won the role through a contest set up to "find James Bond". While this is untrue, the contest itself did exist, and six finalists were chosen and screen-tested by Broccoli, Saltzman, and Fleming. The winner of the contest was a 28-year-old model named Peter Anthony, who, according to Broccoli, had a Gregory Peck quality, but proved unable to cope with the role. When Connery was invited to meet Broccoli and Saltzman he appeared scruffy and in unpressed clothes, but Connery "put on an act and it paid off" as he acted in the meeting with a macho, devil-may-care attitude. When he left, both Saltzman and Broccoli watched him through the window as he went to his car, both agreeing that he was the right man for Bond. After Connery was chosen, Terence Young took the actor to his tailor and hairdresser, and introduced him to the high life, restaurants, casinos and women of London. In the words of Bond writer Raymond Benson, Young educated the actor "in the ways of being dapper, witty, and above all, cool". The casting was announced on November 3, 1961

Origin of the name
While the “Bond, James Bond” line is enshrined in cinematic history since that early scene in Dr. No, the true origin of the name itself is a bit more mundane than you’d imagine.
For the ultimate secret agent, Fleming wanted a truly unimpressive name. Looking through a birdwatching book, he found the inspiration he was hoping for. The American ornithologist Dr James Bond.
Dr. Bond actually quite liked his espionage namesake. Although he didn’t find out about it until years after Fleming wrote the first book, he met and became friends with the writer on a 1964 trip to Jamaica. Throughout the Bond films, there have been many small references to ornithology, including it being the profession Pierce Brosnan uses to introduce himself to Jinx (Halle Berry) in Die Another Day.
Shaken and not Stirred
Another key James Bond catchphrase is the way he orders his favourite drink. The famous request of a “vodka martini, shaken, not stirred” wasn’t actually said by Bond in Dr. No but by a waiter giving it to him. In fact, it’s not until the third film 1964’s Goldfinger that Connery utters the phrase himself.
It’s also not the right drink. The line “shaken, not stirred” is an invention of the books and when Bond orders a drink in the original ‘Casino Royale’ novel, he orders a martini that combines gin, vodka and Kina Lillet. This drink is now known as a “Vesper”.
Why did Connery not get a Vesper in Dr. No then? The answer is simple. Smirnoff were a sponsor of the film and didn’t want gin to be mentioned in his martini order.
Tumblr media
Meet the Staff at Universal Exports
The cast also included a number of actors who were to become stalwarts of the future films, including Bernard Lee, who played Bond's superior M for another ten films, and Lois Maxwell, who played M's secretary Moneypenny in fourteen instalments of the series.[46] Maxwell received the part after beginning to look for film roles to support her family when her husband Peter Marriot suffered from a severe heart attack and was expected to die.[9] Lee was chosen because of being a "prototypical father figure",[47] and Maxwell after Fleming thought she was the perfect fit for his description of the character.[48] Maxwell was initially offered a choice between the roles of Moneypenny or Sylvia Trench and opted for Moneypenny as she thought the Trench role, which included appearing in immodest dress, was too sexual.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One role which was not given to a future regular was that of Major Boothroyd, the head of Q-Branch, which was given to Peter Burton. Burton was unavailable for the subsequent film, From Russia with Love, and the role was taken by Desmond Llewelyn.[52][53]
Felix Leiter James Bonds CIA contact Dr no also introduced Felix Leiter  James Bonds CIA contact played in Dr No by By Jack Lord now better known for playing  Jack McGarrett in Hawaii Five-O. Felix Leiter  would appear many times in the James Bond series  not always played by the same actor.
Tumblr media
In fact 9 actors have played Felix Leiter  in the James Franchise of those 9 only 2 actors would return to the series more than once. The first was David Hedison who appeared in Live and Let Die alongside Roger Moore in 1973 and 16 years later with Timothy Dalton in Licence To Kill,  he is only the only  Felix to play the part with 2 James Bonds which is quite an achivement in itself.
Tumblr media
The Other Felix Leiter to appear in more than one film is Jeffrey Wright who appeared with Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace & No Time To Die .

Tumblr media
Ursula Andress The ultimate Bond Girl
For the first Bond girl Honey Ryder, Julie Christie was considered, but discarded as the producers felt she was not voluptuous enough.[40] Martine Beswick was also rejected for being too inexperienced as an actress while Gabriella Licudi was rejected as too young.[9] Just two weeks before filming began, Ursula Andress was chosen to play Honey after the producers saw a picture of her taken by Andress' then-husband John Derek.[11] Kirk Douglas persuaded Andress to take the part at a party hosted by Derek.[9] To appear more convincing as a Jamaican, Andress had a tan painted on her and ultimately had her lines redubbed by voice actress Nikki van der Zyl due to Andress' heavy Swiss-German accent.
The Collider website recently published an article called The Best Bond Girls: 16 Badass Women Who Defined the Franchise Honey Rider landed in the chart at number 4 this is what is they had to say about the first Bond girl.
There have been 25 Eon Bond movies released across a span of 61 years, and still, decades later, everyone still talks about Bond Girl that started it all. While much of the engrained Bond formula was finding its feet in the series’ debut feature, one thing Dr. No truly excelled at was making Ursula Andress’ Honey Ryder an enduring screen icon.
Needless to say, the character’s standing as a sex symbol was cemented the instant she walked onto that beach in the beige bikini, but she was defined by much more than just that. Fast becoming an ally to Bond, the shell diver is remembered for her defiant bravery and her resourcefulness as 007 combated the maniacal Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman).

The Names Norman Monty Norman
RIP to Monty Norman who died in July 11th 2022 at the grand old age 94 thank you for creating a classic theme that may only be 1 min 47 seconds long but it was just enough to open the doors to the world of James Bond in 1962 for Dr No.
Here is a short interview with Monty Norman on how he created that famous theme that featured on the BBCs The One Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAN7Z3iiEqE
Monty Norman was invited to write the film score because Broccoli liked his work on the 1961 theatre production Belle, a musical about murderer Hawley Harvey Crippen. Norman was busy with musicals, and only agreed to do the music for Dr. No after Saltzman allowed him to travel along with the crew to Jamaica.
Tumblr media
I always felt a bit sorry for Monty he seems to be the forgotten man when it comes to James Bond his contribution to the James Bond theme has been over shadowed by John Barry, lets get this straight Monty wrote and composed the song Barry arranged and conducted it for the films soundtrack.
As a team John Barry and Monty Norman were excellent I always think its a shame that Norman never worked on any more Bond films after Doctor No where as John Barry would provide music for 11 of the first 25 films in the Bond franchise.

How the famous Gun Barrel sequence was created
Maurice Binder created the opening titles of the first Bond film, Dr. No, in 1962. Binder originally planned to employ a camera sighted down the barrel of a .38 calibre gun, but this caused some problems. Unable to stop down the lens of a standard camera enough to bring the entire gun barrel into focus, Binder created a pinhole camera to solve the problem, and the barrel became crystal clear.[1]
Binder described the genesis of the gun barrel sequence in the last interview he recorded before his death in 1991:
That was something I did in a hurry, because I had to get to a meeting with the producers in twenty minutes. I just happened to have little white, price tag stickers and I thought I'd use them as gun shots across the screen. We'd have James Bond walk through and fire, at which point blood comes down onscreen. That was about a twenty-minute storyboard I did, and they said, "This looks great!"[4]
Tumblr media
The Gunbarrel sequence would then be followed by an exciting James Bond Mini adventure pre title sequence that sometimes may or may not have something to do with the films main plot click here for an article about 10 of the best James Bond pre titles sequences https://collider.com/best-james-bond-pre-credits-sequences-ranked/#lsquo-skyfall-rsquo-2012
As well  as designing the famous gun barrel sequence Maurice also designed 13 of the first 16 title sequences in the James Bond series. to find out more about Maurice Binder and his work click here  https://www.artofthetitle.com/designer/maurice-binder/
The Collider recently published an article titled the ten best James Bond Main title sequences  of all time ranked 5 of Maurice Binders titles sequences for the Bond films made the list you can read the article by clicking here https://collider.com/best-james-bond-opening-credits-ranked/#lsquo-licence-to-kill-rsquo-1989

Well lets start with the good points what people call a compliment sandwich the music is very good by Monty Norman with the James Bond theme being the stand out music on the film the acting on the film is also of a high standard Sean Connery is excellant as Bond.
The What Culture website recently published an excellant article on the greatest moments for each Bond film in the series and Sean Connery’s performance in Dr No was their stand out moment from Dr No here is what they had to say:
From the first second he appeared on-screen, Sean Connery simply was Bond. A charisma machine if there ever was one, Connery's sublime work created a cinematic legend with few equals, and even now, he remains the quintessential Bond for most fans.
The first film in the series also benefits from a well-written screenplay, beautiful visuals and an infectious sense of cool, but the main reason the film works as well as it does - and also why certain rather iffy scenes and the film's wildly uneven pacing are far easier to ignore - is because of its star.
Suave, badass, cooler than a cucumber yet also very witty when he needed to be, Connery really got Bond absolutely right, and even if there's a strong argument to be made that Daniel Craig ultimately upstaged him as the best James Bond, Connery is still just as great to watch after all these years.
The Movie web film website also rated Sean Connery introduction as James Bond in Dr No very highly in their article titled 10 Best Movie Character Introductions, Ranked  Sean Connery’s introduction as James Bond topped the list these are their comments
Tumblr media
The highly stylized opening sequence of James Bond movies, in which the suave secret agent is seen through the iconic gun barrel, is a cinematic signature that has become ingrained in popular culture. This iconic imagery was first introduced in Dr. No, and has since been a hallmark of the Bond franchise. As the gun takes aim, Bond swiftly turns to fire his gun, painting the screen blood red. This cinematic device has become more than just an introduction; it's a symbol one of cinema’s most successful and beloved movie franchises, instantly recognizable to audiences worldwide.
Over the decades, this gun barrel sequence has evolved and adapted, becoming a fixture in Bond films, reaffirming the character's enduring appeal. It serves as a timeless reminder of the suave and unstoppable spy who has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences across the globe back in 1962.
Sean Connery’s introduction as James Bond topped Screenrants list of James Bonds Greatest scenes ranked from worst to best who made these comments
Since Sean Connery’s James Bond influenced every 007 that came after him, it only makes sense that his screen debut earned the top spot. As simple as it might be, the first time that Bond utters the iconic catchphrase “Bond, James Bond” in Dr. No remains a high point for the series. There is a reason that this scene has been copied, parodied, reinvented, deconstructed, and paid homage to throughout countless action movies over the last six decades. As simple as it seems, Connery’s roguish delivery of the line in the first James Bond movie turned a popular literary character into a cornerstone of modern pop culture.
The Collider film website published an article called Sean Connery 20 best films three Bond films were included in the list including Dr No which was at number 14
Here is what they had to say about Dr No
Beginning what would become an immensely long-running film series in style, Dr. No was the first time movie audiences ever got to see James Bond, and perhaps the first time many were introduced to Sean Connery as an actor. It’s not an instance where the first film was the very best in the series, but Dr. No is still very good for its time, an admirable start to the series, and one of the better (albeit not the greatest) 007 films Connery starred in.
The titular character is the villain Bond goes up against here, with his evil plan involving the destruction of the U.S. space program. Many staples of the series that would become beloved as the years went on got their start here in Dr. No, and Connery himself was instantly magnetic in the role he seemed born to play… though as both aforementioned and subsequent titles will show, he was so much more than just Bond.
How does Sean Connery’s James Bond measure up to the one featured in the Ian Fleming novels and short stories ?
The film website Screenrant recently published an article called How all 6 James Bond actors compare to the Ian Fleming Iconic Book spy they said this about Sean Connery’s Bond
While Connery’s early movies stuck pretty close to the Fleming novels they were adapted from, Connery was warmer and less sharp than the author’s take on the character. Fleming himself told Playboy Magazine that Bond had "very few perceptible virtues" outside of patriotism and courage, only for the author to then question whether these were even virtues. By contrast, Sean Connery’s influential take on Bond was every bit the matinée idol. Admittedly, much of Bond’s conduct in these early movies would now be considered problematic. However, the series itself uncritically presented Connery’s Bond as a hero, whereas Fleming’s literary character was always intended to be more morally ambiguous.
Connery’s Bond was also notable for shaving off some of the more objectionable elements of Fleming’s take on the character. While his conduct with women was questionable at best, and he could be a boorish brute at times, Connery’s take on 007 never challenged the prejudices that Fleming’s 007 vocalized throughout the novel series. As noted by one Time article, Fleming’s Bond held racist beliefs about Korean people, while his dalliance with Pussy Galore uncovered some terrible views on homosexuality. Fortunately, the timeless Bond movies didn’t hand Bond the chance to damn himself by letting the super-spy share these takes on-screen.
But what about the other actors in Doctor No ?
Ursula Andress is excellant as Honey Rider giving a performance that is sensertive and full of sexual presenance at the same time Joseph Wiseman is good as Dr No the main villan of the piece but not outstanding.
There are no gadgets in Dr No but Q played by Peter Burton does give him his Waither PPK his signature wepon  you can find out more about Bonds weapon of choice by clicking here https://www.thejamesbonddossier.com/lifestyle/guns/walther-ppk.htm
This article also explains why James Bond started carrying a Waither PPK https://screenrant.com/why-james-bond-uses-walther-ppk-gun/
The Supporting cast of the film are also very good Bernard Lee as M and Louis Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny being the standouts so I am glad we saw more of them in further films the film is also well written and directed and there are some great action scenes featrured in it having said all that for some reason I don’t know why I find the film a very hard watch so I don’t watch it as much as the many other Bond films in my collection so if I was to get a rating out of 5 I would give it a 3 out of 5.

James Bond and the Tolerance Project
Why is the Tolerance project including a blog about James Bond? Well we used the James Bond theme in a sequence in the Tolerance Film the above extracts comes from the blog Thank you for the music
2mins 25  We hear the strains of the James bond theme as Robert ( played by David Smith) speeds round the Kitchen to make his breakfast Finishing with a cup of tea to highlight his independence.
He Lives in a house by himself where as Claire his girlfriend played by Claire Abbot lives with her family where she feels somewhat over protected and longs to get away
We went with the original done by Monty Norman for Dr No in 1962. Did u you know that John Barry re-recorded the theme for the single release of the same year this re-recorded version is slightly longer the original used in Dr No this version reached the top 20 peaking at number 11 in 1962. It runs close to 2 mins to quote the liner notes on the best of Bond 1992 CD.
Tumblr media
Unlike the film version which used the Monty Norman Orchestra this re-recorded version used John Barry’s own Orchestra. Barry’s own version was released in England at a time when Cinemagoers first met James Bond in 1962s Dr No, though lacking the fullness and worldwide familiarity of the Norman Orchestra version Barry’s version holds it own drive and intensity.
Tumblr media
The re-recordings of the James Bond theme by John Barry .
John Barry re-recorded the James Bond Theme in 1966 for his CBS album The Great Movie Sounds of John Barry, which features driving percussion ostinati (with a prominent role for bongos), as well as a piano and brass improvisation superimposed over the last few bars.
Tumblr media
. For his 1972 Polydor album The Concert John Barry, re-scored the theme again as part of a James Bond suite for full symphony orchestra, in this case the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This more lush arrangement was to feature in his later Bond film scores, notably Octopussy

Toku Tuesday 46 - Stephen Chow (周星馳)
Hi friends. Welcome back to Toku Tuesday.
I’m not going to write a huge amount tonight because I’m still pretty numb from losing Fall. But, in the interests of spending time with people and having something light-hearted, tonight if you would join me we’ll be watching some of the films of Stephen Chow/周星馳 (Jāu Sīngchìh) - WP says ‘Stephen Chow’ is his ‘professional’ name so let’s go with that...
youtube
Chow was born in Hong Kong in 1962, so during the long period of British occupation (c.f. TT #32). Imspired by Bruce Lee’s The Big Boss (1971) to aspire to martial arts stardom, he went straight into broadcaster TVB’s acting school straight out of secondary school, worked his way up from being an extra to presenting an astronomy program, and eventually got his break to star in over 40 films starting from Final Justice (1988), becoming one of the major martial arts stars of the 90s.
But we’re not here to talk about his acting! Because as a director, Stephen Chow is known for quite a particular thing: effects-heavy kung fu comedies such as Shaolin Soccer (少林足球, 2001) and especially Kung Fu Hustle (功夫, Kung Fu, 2004). These films are remarkable for being live action that feels a lot like highly stylised animation in its sense of timing and 2D composition.
Let’s not pigeonhole him too narrowly though! Look it up and you find that Chow’s got a pretty long list of director credits, starting with James Bond parody From Beijing With Love (國產凌凌漆, The Domestically Produced 007, 1994) about an 007-like spy defending China from a which ironically ended up banned by the CCP for its depiction of corruption; continuing with Forbidden City Cop (大內密探零零發 Imperial Secret Agent 008) and The God of Cookery (食神) both in 1996, and King of Comedy (喜劇之王) in 1999.
Tumblr media
All of these movies star Chow himself, and it sounds like they tend to be heavy on the Cantonese puns. The God of Cookery for example stars a character whose name has the same pronunciation as Stephen Chow’s, but different characters. Perhaps because this proved a little hard to translate, they were popular in China but it would be Shaolin Soccer that got wildly popular abroad, perhaps because its premise is very clear and funny (a Shaolin monk plays football shot like supernatural martial arts) and that was enough of a hook to get people in where they could enjoy Chow’s excellent editing and visual humour - plus as I recall you don’t really need to know shit about football. Same went for Kung Fu Hustle, which can be easily approached as a kind of parody of kung fu and gangster movies, although it works because it succeeds very well as a kung fu movie. (Someone with more literacy in the genre could probably write a more thorough account of its influences and specific allusions... alas that is not me tonight.)
And since then, what’s Chow been up to? C7J (長江七號) (2008) was the last one in which Chow acts as well as directs, following a construction worker’s son adopting an alien - kind of ET-like premise. It proved rather less accessible to the critics, but I’d very much like to track it down because it sounds pretty fascinating. Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons ( 西遊·降魔篇)(2013) was described to me by @mogsk as a really fun take on the story of Saiyuki; The Mermaid (美人鱼, 2016) is a romantic comedy with the amazing premise of a mermaid assassin. I definitely plan to get all of those movies on a future Toku Tuesday.
Tonight the plan is to do something light-hearted and watch Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. We’ll be starting in about half an hour so please come in to twitch.tv/canmom and get comfortable!

.50 Steel Crow
"This is the prince of mayhem, hand cannon, sword of judgement. Take this fucker back to holy land to start your own crusade. Steel Crow's .50 DS caliber insures ego, soul and body shattered with each shot. After shooting your arm might hurt and ears would ring, but it's sheer power makes it up for these issues" - Vendor talking about .50 Steel Crow
Steel Crow is a pistol chambered in .50 DS (Death Sentence). It is one of more powerful, but very inaccurate and expensive weapon. It's magazine size and price of ammo make this gun feel like a gun for someone liking precision or more close combat approach.
Background
Steel Crow was made around the start of the 80's by Hebrew Weaponry Manufacturing and later by Nitro Technologies. It uses various calibers usually used for revolvers or other hi-cal pistols. It was used in a lot of games, movies, games and even in some comics or cartoons. This gun is usually portrayed as good guy or bady guy's main weapon due to it's size and look. However, this gun is actually not that good, besides it's intergrated rails or it's big caliber tending to kill anything in front of it's barrel and behind. Nowadays there are Steel Crow pistols in a lot of configurations. Only CSF, IDF, GOE and GROM are known to use those pistols to any extent.
2. Overview
Steel Crow's main strenght is damage and fairly alright spread. It's intergrated rail on barrel allows to attach various types of sights. One can also purchase a underbarrel picatinny rail to add things like laser sights, flashlights or rangefinder. Steel Crow is very fit for close distance shooting or more slower and precise from medium ranges. One can modify it with compesator, muzzle brake or stocks. There is few models of Steel Crow as well: PF5, S-I, S-VII ,S-XIX and even Police Contractor Package. Gun fires .50 DS, which is shared with Nitro Technologies MFH, HNT Coyote Magnum (another .50 cal by them is GORE-LOT .50 sniper rifle) and AIM Hand Cannon V.
Notable customized versions:
"Major Mindblower" - owned by Karl "Marx" Magnovich. Customized with diffrent finish, stars and scythe emblems and firing .357 instead of .50 DS.
"Bodyguard Duty" - owned by Vortex. Main diffrences is diffrent, three-toned finish, Horde Sink compesator, wooden grips and uses .44 ammunition.
"Big Platty" - owned by Terry Guido. It has platinum finish with golden parts and ivory grips
"Bel Air Brawler" - owned by Jeremiah and put into his customized weapon collection. It has grey finish, Connor Compesator barrel with 'Bel Air Brawler' engraved on it and sometimes can be seen with a Onlooker compact scope. Uses .357 ammo.
"The Holy Equalizer" - owned by original Eve. Modifications include indigo colored iron sights, Long Joe barrel and stainless pink finish.
3. Behind The Scenes
-Steel Crow is based on Desert Eagle, along with HWM parodying IMI, original creator of Desert Eagle. Another manufacturer of Steel Crow is a parody of Magnum Research. HWM's name is a analogy for IMI, while Nitro Technologies is a play on Magnum Research (Nitro comes from Nitro Express, bullets used to hunt animals).
-Some Custom Steel Crows are based off various Desert Eagles made for movies or tv shows, "Major Mindblower" is based on Deagle seen in The Boondock Saints, "Big Platty" was created around custom Desert Eagle seen in Sopranos and "Bel Air Brawler" is based on Desert Eagles seen in The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, but with some visual diffrences and occasionally can be seen with a scope.
-The name of main cartridge and weapon description are reference to movie Death Sentence.
-Some unique parts are named after movies, games or other things:
Connor Compesator comes from name of Connor McManus from The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, same for Murphy Custom Silencer for Barista 92
Golden Eye Laser System is based on laser sight mounted on a Desert Eagle seen in 007: Nightfire
PF5's name is a nod to game Phantom Forces, where L5, PF5's inspiration appears
Police Contractor Package's first letters for PCP, which is type of illegal narcotics
Hawk Lighter custom muzzle is a nod to Lightning Hawk from Resident Evil and it's design is based off real life airsoft replicas when drawn in more detail
Leon Biohazard barrel is same barrel as seen on Desert Eagle Leon Custom airsoft replica
Long Joe barrel is a play on term "Long Johnson" which is a usually jokingly used term for a penis
