Ideas for my 2009's humanstuck au:

• Nepeta, Sollux, Karkat and Terezi are close friends.(Karkat is their internet friend in common because he lives in Argentina and they live in the US).

• Nepeta is an otaku and fan of warriorcats, likes to rp with terezi and Feferi. Likes to draw and animate in her nintendo ds.

• Sollux is a computer wizard, a huge gamer (mostly plays Cod) and likes to spite Karkat and his gamer skills. He is a sarcastic king and charges people $20 to fix their computers.

• Sometimes Sollux pirates Nep's favorite animes for her and they watch them together.

• Terezi is blind in this au. She likes candy. A LOT(the reason why she wears braces) specially those cherry jelly gummies. She likes 90's fashion and watching dragon tales (couldn't be more proud about this fact)

• Feferi is a huge fan of everything sea related (coughmermaidscough). Attends to swimming lessons along with Eridan. Has a plethora of mermaid swimming tails. She also likes to take care of her fish pets, sometimes a little too much.

• Fef's mother is kind of absent, her big sister, Meenah, too. So the staff in her mansion take most care of her. Nonetheless, she always has a good spirit, even if she feels somewhat alone.

• Eridan is the typical snobby teen with straight A's and a rich family (which might be the reason for the A's). He often goes to parties with his "friends" in the academy, but really the only friend he has and understands him is Feferi. He often feels alone because his father leaves for business trips, leaving him with his excuse of an older brother.

• Eridan likes and owns all of the Harry Potter Saga (at the moment) but prefers not to nerd out in fear of rejection (only nerds out to Feferi). He is also an avid fan of greek history and mythology.

• Tavros (who is a pokémon encyclopedia) is close friends with Aradia, sometimes they trade pokémon cards and have a few matches. His family immigrated from Spain to Argentina.

• Tavros is best friends with Gamzee, they hang out often and have rap jam sessions with basic rap beats coming out of Tav's family computer.

• Gamzee is...you know how Gamzee is. He likes Porta and ICP, sometimes he ends up at the hospital for drinking too much soda. Likes drawing and making tye-dye tshirts. His father owns a huge furniture store but most people in town think the store is just a facade to hide more..criminal matters.

• Karkat sometimes hangs with Gamzee, but he's more close with Kanaya and Ter. He likes programming and playing Cod, but not as much as watching the pirated romcom cds he hides under his matress with Kan.

• Karkat also has a slight obsession with the telenovelas his dad watches(coughMaríaladelbarriocough), which are the same ones Kankri criticises for being too problematic.

• Kanaya attends a catholic school her mom is a teacher in with Karkat and Rose. She likes to buy fashion magazines and tries to copy the models with the patterns they provide. Has a small academic rivalry with Rose Lalonde, but there's also some sparks there.

• Aradia lives in the same neighbourhood as Karkat and Tavros, and is internet friends with Sollux, who she met on club penguin a few years ago. She is more of an outgoing kid, and is not often seen inside her house unless she is initiating an excavation in her backyard in search for bones. Any kind of bones.

• Aradia is also internet friends with Nepeta and Terezi (they talk sometimes in skype) they're planning to one day meet up in the future and play dnd together, with their new addition to the group, Vriska.

• Vriska lives in the US in Equius' neighborhood. She has been Terezi's friend on and off, because of differences between eachother. She also met Tavros on the online game "8 ball pool" and tries to teach him how to ace pool like her.

• Vriska is kind of the problem child in her school, a punk at heart. She skips school often and disrespects authorities. Nobody but Ter knows the reason behind this jealousy towards her older, more successful sister, Aranea (and perhaps some neglecting from her mother too).

• Vriska likes fantasy books (often where the hero is NOT weak and is VERY awesome) and likes to imagine herself in those worlds as a form of escapism. She also likes Avril Lavigne and has a pet spider, which is very demanding when it comes to food.

• Equius is the quiet but kind kid..if not a little weird. His family proudly owns a robotics company his father initiated in the 90's, Equius is the nervous heir in line.

• He is very close friends with Nepeta, to the point of having grown together. They have a small tradition of celebrating eachother's birthdays with a tea party. Nepeta likes her tea without milk, Equius prefers more milk than tea.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

It mutated partly from Therese, one of the prototype names for her. I changed it specifically because Cherise means cherry in frankish and I wanted a princess character with a fruit name as an homage to Princess Peach!

🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range)

About 2 months younger than Neville, 15 at the start of filmverse, which will progress until the characters early if not late 20s.

🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)?

Neville, our beloved

💼 - What do they do for a living?

She is a student and knight aspirant. In future she will be a full knight. In some non-magical earth human au she would probably be in public service.

🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?

Cherise loves playing with animals, horseback riding, hunting, foraging, playing with her dog, but also baking. She would consider herself a foodie.

🎯 -What do they do best?

Fighting.

🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?

Cherise loves hanging out with her friends, engaging in her hobbies, and taking in a night at the theater.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

Cherise idolizes her brother Luc and when she was younger would often cling to him when he went riding, and would usually fall asleep before they got home.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

Also as a child, Cherise fell into a hole full of tiny, newly hatched dragons, who immediately started trying to eat her. They were only the size of lizards, but she was very small, and they definitely took out some bits.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

Uhh, a lot of things. my proto-filmverse was a kind of edgy urban fantasy show partly inspired by supernatural but with multiverse and time travel (this was before they added multiverse and time travel) and she was like a warrior angel named therese (Eventually cherise became so different from this concept that I spun Therese off into a whole different character). Hard reboot as a princess character for a sort of planetary romance thing that never got any farther, then another multiverse thing...in all these instances she was a side character but as things went on I started liking her more and more as a main character and cut her out of her many lame plots and stuck her in a cohort with other good characters to make something new, primarily Neville.

🌂 - What genre do they belong in?

She belongs in chivalric romance but sadly she is living in the 90s

💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?

Cherise is cis and bisexual

🙌 - How many sibling does your OC have?

One older brother, Luc. The age difference is fairly significant so he had a hand in raising her.

🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?

Her powerful energy and optimism!

✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC?

fairly often, I use her as a stock character in rp and she features in many of the filmverse stories, one alongside neville so far

💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC?

Nah

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?

Dragons but only like, scary dragons. Film, her familiar, is too goofy and awkward for Cherise to be afraid of her.

this is Vera! he is inspired by the 'henchman/bodyguard' kind of trope where there's usually the most evil motherfucker out there who has someone (who is often coded as being romantically in love with them) as their underling they are generally shitty towards but they still have seemingly unwavering devotion. I wanted a story where that character is the MC, I also wondered about a story where the big bad dies and what becomes of that underling? they usually die and get bundled in with gay character always dies trope.

This character is inspired a lot from a certain character in Trigun, so if you don't want Trigun Maximum spoilers don't look! CW for mental illness and abuse

Story of this character being made was reading Trigun Maxiumum after watching the botched 90's anime (and then I watched the reboot by Studio Orange which I am very excited to see what they do with it in regards to the trimax content) found myself thinking a lot about Legato Bluesummers. You might even call Vera the Legato at home atp. I mean even the design is highly lifted from legato lmao.

It makes sense why Legato dies, narratively for his character and Vash's as being the first time he decides to kill despite his pacifism. But, as one does when they like a character, I started wondering what if Legato lived? What would that look like? From there I was thinking a lot about why he's Like That(tm), he does fall into the Gay Henchmen stereotype and from there I was thinking about that trope as a whole. @/d-d-disgusting's character Vince (i used to RP with tooth but idk if they're still around or wanna connect but yeah Vince is amazing and so interesting) they have a really interesting take on the "Traits Villain's Cringe Fail sidekick usually are given in media and lets examine that" its awesome) was another big inspiration for this.

Something I find interesting about Legato is that obviously Knives wants to get rid of humans as a whole and that whole thing. Legato is 1000% on board for this, frankly can't remember if this is implied because he is suicidal or that's just what I took away from it but yea. I found that interesting. He's a relatively newer character of mine but I wanted to examine with his story what would happen to make someone feel this way, the lengths they would go to just to please someone who openly has disdain and disgust for them, why they might be ok with that or even agree with that treatment

And then what might happen if that person was taken away and leaving this Henchmen Trope character purposeless. Dealing with the aftermath of it all. Vera has a TBI too frankly becuase i became disabled with my neurological nonsense right around the same time i read all of trimax over one very long shift and so my FND is tied to Trigun for me for whatever reason and even the themes outside of the work do nebulously connect to my disability for me lol

Making RP-related jokes about shape-shifters messing with Shaw made me realize.....there really aren’t that many all-purpose shapeshifters associated with the X-titles, which is weird, since it seems like it would be a common power.

There are lots of characters who can transform their bodies in various ways, but most of them are very specific transformations, like Wolfsbane and Catseye going into animal form, or Colossus’ steel form, Emma’s diamond form, etc.  But in terms of all-purpose, turn into any other person/animal shape-shifting, I would list:

Mystique, the obvious and most famous (also best)

Copycat, mostly a Deadpool character

Changeling/Morph - mostly either dead or an Exiles character, but is super versatile with shape-shifting in Exiles

Benjamin Deeds Morph - a specific kind of shape-shifting where he mimics other people, and also exudes some chemicals that cause people to automatically like and trust him - I don’t know if he can take animal form.  Barely seen in the past few years.

Random - apparently can change into anything, but most makes giant arm guns, barely seen since the 90′s

Meggan - a unique type of shape-shifter who is also empathic, and her body transforms in response to other people’s perceptions of her, as well as her mood and the environment.  She doesn’t seem to do the “pretend to be another person” kind of shapeshifting, but maybe that’s because she didn’t initially have very good control over her powers, and I wasn’t sure if she could turn into an animal, but her bio confirms that she can.  She also has elemental powers and other abilities beyond shape-shifting.

Then, there are a couple of mutants who have shape-shifting as one of many abilities, but don’t often use it, like Apocalypse or Mr. Sinister, who probably wouldn’t be considered as “just shape-shifters.”

Honestly, out of all of these, Mystique and Meggan are the only ones with shape-shifting as a primary power that are commonly used, and Meggan is still strongly associated with elemental powers and magic.  I guess writers want to put their own twist on transforming mutants rather than making a character who is “just” an all-purpose shape-shifter, but there are actually not that many out there, especially compared to the many telepaths, or telekinetics, or fire mutants, etc.  

Obviously, this just means that Mystique reigns supreme as the best shape-shifter.

Indie RP blog for Naomi Joy Sato, reclusive podcaster and caretaker of a strange and lonely library. A study in grief, found family, telling stories and learning to be loved again, through the lens of 90's/2000's children's shows. Mun is over 21, but blog is SFW. Penned by Esme. Takes place during the summer of 2023. Scary things may happen, but this is not a horror blog.

Trigger warnings: Surrealist imagery, death of family/a child (in backstory), survivor's guilt, metaphorical body horror (mild), revisiting the same nightmare over and over and over again.

The Story So Far: The world is getting bigger.

Since getting her umbrella, Naomi has had a scare involving the ditch across the road. After seeing Rags dart across the street, she chased after him, believing a familiar red vehicle was oncoming. Instead of either being hit, however, she merely fell with Rags into the ditch, and had to retreat inside to manage the ensuing shock.

Naomi now believes that the red truck is not an invention of the library, but her own memory resurfacing whenever she looks at the road. This makes things difficult, as with the Big Chair's design on pause, she now has nowhere to work on but the outside of the house.

It's not all bad news, though, as a new friend has come to the Library! Arlo is a Sandman and shepherd, who herds the sheep you count to sleep. The fact that he has the head of a ram himself is apparently irrelevant. Calm, patient and understanding, Arlo seems to be a much-needed voice of reason for Naomi, a source of stability against her own thoughts.

With his arrival, however, a change has come to Lullaby Lane - the massive Slumber Hill now lingers behind the library, which was once only woods. This does not seem to be the last change the world has in store, and so Naomi will have to keep an eye out for what's next.

Current Library Residents:

Naomi Sato, the only human resident. She has agoraphobia, and needs an umbrella in order to feel comfortable going outside during the day.

Teddy, her goldfish stuffed animal. Not alive.

About 14 dust bunnies, including Buster and Wexel; Eenie, Meenie, Minie and Moe; and 'the class', a group of 8 dust bunnies always seen together.

Willa the Wallaphant, a felt elephant that resides in a series of tapestries decorating the library building.

Ragamonster/Rags: A quadrupedal puppet made of blue, green and yellow scraps and yarn, Ragamonster is the monster under Naomi's bed. Very large but easily frightened, Rags is as sweet as he is skittish, and prefers to be close to Naomi or under a small roof.

Arlo: The Sandman of Slumber Hill, Arlo is a ram puppet/costume who wears dark, glittering robes and bells on his horns. He acts as a voice of reason and comfort, and only appears at night, right before bedtime. He is always accompanied by his flock of sheep, which you can count to fall asleep.

The Flock: Arlo's sheepy, so sleepy. They hop fences.

Current Library Anomalies:

Blue Dreams: A series of dreams in which Naomi finds herself in an enclosed space filled with matte blue something. It has since evolved to depict a strange aquarium. See Three Goldfish and Closet Mirror for more.

Three Goldfish: A new addition to the Blue Dream phenomenon, these three goldfish come in varying sizes and are noted for their solid colors of Orange, Yellow and White. It is now obvious that these goldfish symbolize the memories of her father, mother and sister respectively.

Blue Umbrella: An umbrella of clear blue vinyl, decorated with big, matte white raindrops and clouds. It appears to have no magical qualities, but is an effective aide in helping Naomi go outside without experiencing vertigo, due to its distortion of the sky.

Newspaper: A changing, self-updating newspaper consisting mostly of blocks of ink. Currently legible are the following passages: "HOROSCOPE: YOU SHOULD PICK A BOUQUET FOR THEM", a panel that says "Weather prediction: Surely it will rain eventually?", and an announcement for "FIREFLY SHOW TONIGHT, FOLLOWED BY FIRST SHEEP COUNTING OF SEASON". It is apparent that whatever entity the library is, this is its best medium for communicating through words.

Closet Mirror: A full-length mirror at the end of the second floor's walk-in closet. It depicts a strange metal lump floating in front of Naomi's chest that leaks a matte blue liquid. A particularly intense sequence of blue dreams has led Naomi to realize this is a manifestation of her (emotional) heart, and its "blue love" will continue to flood and stain everything in her life until she understands what it's trying to tell her.

Roadside Ditch: A ditch across from the library and the road leading to it, blooming with white peace lilies, morning lilies, and red spider lilies. As it turns out, Lullaby Lane wanted to grow her some flowers for a bouquet. It continues to flourish.

The Red Shape: Naomi sometimes sees a red shape far down the road, obscured by distance and the wavering of hot air. Its most recent appearance caused her to fall into the ditch, for fear of it striking Ragamonster. She now believes this to be a figment of her own memory, rather than part of Lullaby Lane.

Letterbox: A magic letterbox which can teleport any written message put through its slot to its intended recipient. It sits on the desk upstairs. (If you want to send or get asks, this is a great medium for them!)

Blue Love Poem: A poem Naomi has been struggling to write. She is starting to understand what Blue Love means.

The Story: Not an anomaly. A story Naomi tells herself but has never finished. She can very easily get stuck saying one or two sentences over and over. This followed her to the Library.
