You know how I keep saying that Eddie’s heart is Buck?
I mean, Christopher is indeed his world (often symbolized by the universe and planets on shirts and the model in his room), but his heart is Buck.
911 5x06 pretty much cemented that for me, in that Mitchell gave his heart to save his son, in 4x14 Eddie tells Buck that if anything happens to Eddie, he gets Christopher.
In this analogy, Buck is the heart, the one that will "save" Christopher, look after him if Eddie’s is gone.
In 5x06, Buck tells Eddie that Mitchell is dead, and Eddie says that his heart isn't and he needs it to stay that way so he can save Mitchell's son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Eddie says, "and I need it to stay that way." The frame is on Buck.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, when Buck runs inside to get what Eddie asks for, Eddie’s eyes linger on Buck until he disappears into the hospital.
Tumblr media
In 5x14, we also have the famous "I misunderstood the assignment" where Eddie holds the actual heart Christopher drew in his right hand, but Buck's cute 😏 heart in his left hand, on the heart side.
Tumblr media
So I ask you, what happens when that heart stops beating, even if just for a few seconds? 🥺❤️🥺

I desperately want oblivious!Buddie to play out for just a LITTLE longer so we get some “off-screen” gems. As in, absolutely bonkers events and quirks that we don’t currently know, but slowly find out before the boys figure THEM out. Such as Buddie grocery shopping together, Buck knowing Chris’ (AND Eddie’s) SSN, Chris having Buck’s phone number memorized because he didn’t have a phone when they first met and would call him on the house phone like for the Hildy prank, Chris has called Buck his dad to one of the firefam or Carla, Buck and Abuela have weekly phone calls now that she lives in Texas, Eddie is Buck’s POA (and vice versa), Eddie has a second pair of keys to Buck’s Jeep (Buck doesn’t for Eddie’s truck ONLY because Eddie is a passenger princess and if he’s not the one driving his truck then he just hands his keys off to Buck anyway), as early as late season 3 Christopher was drawing Buck into his family portraits (bonus points if it’s before the well happened), Buck has Christopher’s drawings on his loft fridge, Buck uses the family calendar on Eddie’s fridge too, Eddie specifically doesn’t buy certain foods because Buck has a food restriction that the Diazes do NOT also have (canon vegan Buck anyone?), Buck picks Christopher up from school enough to be known to both the teachers AND administration, they have a shared google calendar that Eddie hates (technophobe) but Buck updates regularly, there hasn’t been a week where Buck hasn’t stayed the night at least once at the Diazes since the lawsuit (yes, even through the divorce arc idc, let me live).
The whole “didn’t know they were dating” thing is becoming more and more appealing to me for Buddie with every passing minute, and I just think it would be funny if we got Hen or Maddie or even Christopher to call them out on little things like this that they do that they didn’t really think hard enough about to realize it was partner shit, not best friend shit. Plus, I know a lot of people want Buddie NOW because of Buck being canonically bi, but I’m still happy to wait a little longer if it means giving both characters the patience and care their stories deserve. ABC making them canon the very first season after the network switch WOULD be iconic, but given that I’ve been both ecstatic and nervous about Buddie after last Thursday’s episode, I think they should pace it. Give them both full realizations about their sexualities, a lil crisis about it for each too, maybe a different man or two before each other, the jealousy they’re BOTH now famous for, just a pinch more therapy about the shock of it all, and then somebody or something to knock their heads together and make them realize that their partner has been right there all along.
Honestly, I won’t lie and say that some of these aren’t based off of fics I’ve read, but they’re also so basic to Buddie that I couldn’t tell you specific fics, and I also definitely tried to come up with some that aren’t from fics in my memory, but claim them if you want lol, I don’t mind

the fact that the only time we saw buck's new couch was 6x12 in which he was shifting on it uncomfortably, after which we've seen eddie's couch twice— once with buck sleeping on it and once with chris. and in between these two times we got the baking scene. besties we're in the thick of it

Christopher Díaz (Gavin McHugh) and his two dads.
🤔
OK, so—wait: in 2018, Christopher was 7. That’s what Eddie told Buck.
Fast forward to 2023 and the boy is supposed to now be 12 years old.
I hope 9-1-1 does a birthday party for Christopher’s 13th, in Season 7...

Sometimes I forget that Eddie actually did put Buck in his will as Christopher’s legal guardian if Eddie dies because it’s like something straight out of a fic, but then I REMEMBER and am once again blown away by it. This man, this beautiful, WONDERFUL father, he made his best friend his son’s legal guardian in his will, like is that not like the most insane thing you’ve ever heard? The level of trust this entails? Buck would literally be Christopher’s last line of defense, the one teaching him about how to be an adult, the one fending off Eddie’s parents to make sure they don’t succeed in taking Chris back to El Paso, Buck would be the person Christopher turns to for what he needs. Eddie did That. He literally put in writing how much he believes in Buck’s love for Christopher, Bucky’s loyalty to his son, the way he’ll fight for Chris. I’m literally trembling in awe over Eddie’s decision. Not only did he ensure that Christopher would be taken care of, Eddie chose the best person in his life for the job. He really said that he never wants to leave his son, but if, god forbid, something happens, Buck will be there to love and support Christopher, just like Eddie has. This is so wild to me, this man is so crazy, I love this so much.

I’ve been thinking - I really really want the writers to give us more buddipher scenes before buddie happens - like, I need to see them just hanging out, going to the zoo etc. Show us how close they are and how much they’re already a family before buddie go canon - I need more of Chris waking Buck up from sleeping on the sofa and demanding pancakes, or wheedling them into taking him for ice cream or to the beach.
Show us what Buck and Eddie haven’t had with either Tay Kay or Ana!!!

So you know how we all knew Ana was coming back and we're asking ourselves "okay but how are the writers going to make Buck upstage her spectacularly this time??" While at the same time believing it probably wouldn't happen again?
Remember when Ana was chatting with Eddie wondering what to do to make Christopher comfortable with him dating again? And he didn't know what to do and neither did she and meanwhile Chris ran to Buck and Buck knew what to do to help Chris?
AGAIN?
Wish granted folks.

Hi hon! Just wanted to see if you’ve seen the 4x10 synopsis? I’m so angry they left Eddie out. What are your thoughts on what may happen? Hopefully we can get some domestic Buddie!? 🤞
Hello lovely anon 😊 I have seen the synopsis and I also was very irritated that they left Eddie out of it but again I guess they couldn’t just include everyone in it. The synopsis’ sometimes are so misleading so I try not to dwell too much on them. I think one of two things will occur. Either we’re going to get a very small, unimportant Eddie/Chris moment, could be again about Eddie’s dating or whatever. Or we may get a big Buddiepher moment that’s been just like the previous scenes we’ve gotten thus far. Something cute and domestic, and very on brand for the Buckley-Diaz family, which is why it wasn’t included. I don’t know what to speculate tbh bc I have no clue where they’re taking Eddie’s storyline. All I do hope is that we don’t have you know who in that episode bc I refuse to sit there and watch her trying to put in her unnecessary two cents on how to parent a child that is not hers. Sorry not sorry but we only accept Buck being Christopher’s second parent in this household 😂

Hey, thank you for the ask!! These kind of overlap but I’ve kept them separate for the sake of the list! I hope you like this! ❤️ Apologies for the lack of a cut, I’m on my phone!
The list can be found here: Buddie Headcanon Prompt List
47. Domestic Life
When Buck and Eddie get together, very little changes.
Buck already spent most of his time outside the station at the Diaz household, and this only cuts down on travel time, with the added bonus of getting Eddie and Christopher to himself.
Carla is still a permanent fixture in their lives, but less so now that Buck is there.
Eddie hates doing laundry, but Buck finds it soothing, the repetitive motion of folding warm clothes that smell of a familiar detergent.
In turn, Buck hates scrubbing bathrooms. He’s still not 100% with water and the acrid sting of bleach reminds him too much of his hospital days. So Eddie cleans those.
Buck, Eddie and Christopher love going on walks, especially just a little bit before sunset so they can see the hues break out on the horizon as they walk back home.
Cooking is a fiasco in the Buckley-Diaz household. Buck is decent at it, and after years of being a single father, Eddie can do passable things like cereal and boil water but when Buck is there, he and Christopher are always the chefs.
Slowly, but surely, they manage to get real food on the table most nights.
Their movie nights shift into things like board game nights, card game nights, all so they’re not staring at a screen right at bedtime
Buck finds out that Eddie’s brilliant at making different voices when Christopher asks for bedtime stories, and often just watches the two loves of his life, drinking in the perfect moment.
He makes Eddie read him things all the time, just to keep hearing his voice.
They fall into a quick routine, Buck and Eddie getting up for work, Eddie waking Chris up and Buck making breakfast before they all start to get ready for work and school.
Every month, they make it a point to take a family trip somewhere; a museum, the zoo. Anything Chris wants to do.
118 family nights are the best. Hen and Chimney joke about how quickly they’ve domesticated themselves to the new normal, even though their eyes shine brightly with happiness for them.
Bobby, Athena and Maddie look on proudly, happy to see the two men beyond happy with their son.
Eddie asks Maddie to marry Buck but he also asks Bobby, Athena, Michael, May and Harry, knowing that his boyfriend is such a huge part of the Grant-Nash household too.
When they get married, everything falls right into place.
53. Lazy Days
They don’t come often but when they do, the Buckley-Diaz family takes full advantage of it.
A day where there’s nothing to do but bask in each other’s presence.
After years of being in the military, Eddie’s body is virtually incapable of sleeping in. He gets up latest by 8:00am every morning, if Christopher doesn’t have school.
Buck, on the other hand, takes full advantage of his days off to sleep in, though he tries his best to be awake when its time to get Christopher ready for school.
Eddie never leaves the room without pressing a soft kiss to Buck’s forehead.
After they move in together, Buck finds that he can’t sleep without the warmth of his boyfriend at his side.
So he gets up about 10 minutes after Eddie does, drags the blankets outside and curls up in Eddie’s lap where the older man is drinking his morning coffee and scrolling through his phone, just to catch a few more minutes of sleep.
Eddie sets his phone down to absently card his fingers through Buck’s enormous bed head, smiling fondly at his boyfriend’s content expression.
It’s amusing to Christopher, who laughs gleefully at seeing his Bucky snuggled into his dad.
Buck peeks an eye open before grabbing the giggling boy and wrapping him in the blanket too, his own grin stuck on his face.
Eddie has to put his mug down lest his boys jostle the precious nectar out of his hands.
Their lazy days are full of nothing but stolen kisses and an abundance of love. Christopher wrinkles his nose but he’s happy because his daddy and his Bucky are happy.
It’s a short break in a long stretch of time, but it’s time that they both treasure together.
Christopher loves having both of them home, because it means they can watch movies and color together, and his little family is complete.
It’s always pancakes on a lazy day, warm and comforting. Christopher loves blueberry pancakes and Buck, amusingly enough, loves buckwheat ones.
He gets Eddie and Christopher semi-hooked on buckwheat pancakes too, which are an occasional delicacy.
The day Christopher discovers blueberry buckwheat pancakes is a beautiful day.
Could I love them any more than this Eddie thinks to himself several times a day.
I want this forever Buck thinks to himself, with every second they spend together.
So they make it forever.

I know, "Recovery", will be at the Diaz household. How?
Well for one, Buck does not yet have a couch.
Two, I doubt either Eddie or Christopher will want to let Buck out of their sights after everything.
Also, the Madney household is not done, plus there's a sweet but restless toddler running around the house. 😍
And since this storyline is awfully familiar to me (station 19 - Vic, anyone? 👀) Buck is going to be wearing a monitor watch to make sure his heart is not in distress, which also will have to include a lot of rest and require to have someone to watch out over him. (In Station 19, they were Vic's boyfriend and her best friend. - Eddie and Christopher for Buck? 👀😉)
Also, because there is a very big foreshadowing that has announced exactly that earlier in the season.
I am talking about 6x07 "Cursed."
The undefined relationship between Felisa and Alexis (aside from the money thing, obviously) felt very familiar.
Felisa stresses outside the crystal shop (where both she and Alexis are knocked out, btw) that Alexis is all she has.
Eddie's face says it all. He has one of those, and indeed, in the next frame, we see Buck loading Alexis to the second ambulance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She sits with her in the hospital after she's released and talks to her, suggesting a girls' trip once she's better. - Eddie is a spectator through all of this. And he gets this amazingly tender look on his face when he listens to Felisa as she talks to unconscious Alexis.
Tumblr media
Fast forward to the end of the episode, Felisa tells Eddie that Alexis is going to stay with her when she gets out of the hospital.
Tumblr media
and eventually tells him that she's going to have the house blessed just in case, before Alexis comes to stay with her.
Tumblr media
Another thing she says is that it's easier to believe you're cursed than wrong, and post-therapy Diaz is amused by it.
Tumblr media
And yet he still calls his Abuela after Felisa leaves and asks her about his future anyway.
Here, in this frame, everyone thought, at the time, that the focus on Christopher a frame later is because he will be in danger, but the truth is, that the whole of S6a even stretching back to S5b, is about Buck's connection to the Diaz boys.
Tumblr media
And as most of you saw the promo pic of 6x11, it also confirms that the Diazes are going to pull Buck even closer to them once he's awake and out of the hospital.
Tumblr media
For all his bluster and disbelief of curses in general, when Buck asks Eddie outside the crystal shop if he still thinks Felisa isn't cursed, he answers, "No, but I think I am."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, why would he say that? Because Eddie lost his wife, lost his army buddies, nearly lost his son and best friend, and nearly lost himself somewhere along the way.
He also keeps encountering couples in the making that will eventually end up together, there were the ladies from the driver's test in S5, there were Josh and Carson, now Felisa and Alexis, everyone eventually pretty much get over the first encounter and move forward together. - But not Eddie, not with Buck, not yet.
If there was ever a catalyst to get these two to, at least, talk about their shared trauma and living together in the same house, this is it.

We see Maddie and her parents once in the promo. After that it's, Maddie and Chimney, Bobby and Athena, it's Hen, and we know Christopher is going to be there, and most probably Eddie (it's just too spoiler-y to show us).
Tumblr media
But we don't see the buckley parents again.
Even the night vigil is done by bathena.
Tumblr media
Are they in the waiting area?
The parking lot?
Maddie's and Chimney's house with Jee?
Or maybe it's too much and they leave town altogether?
I don't know why, but I want to know!
Whatever happens will validate or leave us still wondering about the "ley" being covered in the firehouse.

This! This scene, with dream Christopher, it's love and sadness and acceptance.
Christopher asks Buck if he can help him find his dad.
Tumblr media
Buck apologizes and tells him that he's not real. And that he's got to go.
Tumblr media
Then he says something peculiar, I'm always going to feel guilty for that one.
Tumblr media
Guilty for what?
Losing Christopher in the tsunami and not being able to get him back to Eddie?
For letting Eddie get hurt, and not being able to get him to his dad during his stay in the hospital because of covid regulations?
Maybe it's Buck feeling that even though he co-parents Christopher with Eddie, he's not really his kid.
But then it occurred to me that Christopher symbolizes the baby that will biologically belong to Buck but won't be his.
He apologizes to the child who will grow up not knowing his biological father, and may find out the truth at some point and will come looking for Buck, the way Denny, now went to meet his bio dad, trying to figure out who he is and where he came from.
Because Christopher is already Buck's, maybe not biologically, but Buck has been helping Eddie raise him for a long time, he's always there for his Diaz boys, he's never failed them, no matter how at times he thought he did.
But this scene comes after Buck's realization that he was the game changer in Eddie's and Christopher’s life, having introduced them to Carla, so this isn't necessarily old baggage, but rather Buck acknowledging and maybe briefly mourning the loss of a kid who biologically is his, but will never be his to raise.

So I’ve been seeing many speculations about 6x10, My theory is that Buck is struck by lightning or somewhere next to him, and he gets hurt. Now, he can’t fall, because they are required to be strapped in to the ladder for cases like these (less lightning strikes more injuries that happen while working the aerial), we can see the connecting cable in the promo, so Buck himself will not fall.
In Station 19, Vic was strapped to the aerial when hit with the power line (kinda like lightning strike.) Miller went up to get her and preformed CPR up on the aerial. - Imo, we will be getting something like that.
In Chicago fire - for the dramatic effect Casey wasn’t strapped in, but didn’t fall either Gallo saved him. (but that’s mentor/mentee relationship so it doesn’t play a part here.)
Eddie is indeed thrown off the ladder truck, but as I posted before, Chimney calls for him to join them in the ambulance, so I’m banking on some sort of Eddie freaking out - maybe he will be the one doing the Miller role in the episode, or he can be the worried boyfriend, while someone else gets Buck down - Kinda like Ruiz did in the Station 19 episode. (Ruiz dating Vic - Miller had a big secret, kinda, love for her). If Eddie would indeed be hurt,  we won’t see it, until after they’re at the hospital.
But if I’m being honest, I’m hoping for Eddie to be ok, and just be frantic for Buck’s health and to get the parallel of him going home to tell Christopher that his other dad is hurt and in the hospital. And maybe, just maybe get a sweet scene of Buck waking up to Eddie and Christopher, or even just Christopher like Chimney did in 2x14, it could be such a good scene!!
Manifest with me!! 🙏✨😌

Also?? In absolutely no universe is Buck's doctor going to let him be discharged home to a place with stairs after not one, but two cardiac arrests! They'd want to send him to a rehab facility. Bobby would go green at that--Wendell still raw in his mind--and Eddie's like, 'where better than with a trained medic where he already feels comfortable being? Plus my child can keep him from doing anything overly strenuous by virtue of puppy-dog eyes'
Yes!! Exactly!! No stairs for Buck!
And Eddie and Christopher will absolutely be able to keep him in line for the duration of recovery, if only through cute smiles and puppy dog eyes, which I'm sure Buck taught Christopher to perfection.
I bet he never once thought. It would be used against him, lol.
Oh God, the fics brewing in my mind...
But I digress, yes! Indeed, there is no better place for Buck to recover than the Diaz household. 😊🤗❤️
