Not a chance encounter - Albus & Alexei

There were certain people Albus was expecting to encounter during today’s Pride festivities. His brother, Arlo, the various collections of family decked out in rainbows and living their best lives. And there were some people Albus intended to see, people with Quidditch abs and pretty smiles. So when he flitted from group to group, smile bright and laugh infectious, he kept his eyes peeled for Alexei. First, because who wouldn’t with a smile like that?! And second because of a smile like that. When he found him, Albus settled in for a bit, slowing his social-wandering roll to slide up into the other man’s space and smile, bright and wicked.

“And here I was hoping to run into you,” he teased, a little wink and a duck of his head. He slipped hands into his back pockets and rocked on his heels as he eyed the other man. “And aren’t you just the best sight for sore eyes.” He gave a little hum and nodded towards the nearest bar. “Buy you a drink? You know, might as well pretend I’m a proper gentleman before I show just how horrid I am.”

Severus Snape gazed at the orange and yellow hues of the crackling fire in front of him, eyes unfocused and distant. Lucius sat beside him on the couch, an arm around the man he considered to be family. Both had tired faces, with red-rimmed eyes from tears. In a chair across the room, Narcissa cried too, holding tightly to her own son, young Draco, who was upset at his mother’s tears, trying to comfort her with a small hand on her cheek and head tucked tightly at her shoulder. The day had been a terrible one, the destruction of everything he loved. His son, Alexei, had been taken from him, stolen from his bed, only weeks before he was due to begin Hogwarts. The only remainder of his darling Katarina, his wife and mate, who had been murdered many years before, when Alexei was only an infant, gone. His only consolation was that he himself remained alive, as his mate was dead, he only lived for his child, so if Alexei died, so too would Severus.

GPT-2s erste Harry Potter OCs

Nachdem ich neulich einen Kurs hatte, in dem wir neural networks behandelt haben, kam mir ein recht dämlicher Gedanke: was wäre, wenn man ein neural network auf die... kreativeren Harry Potter-OC-Namen loslässt? (Vor allem, nachdem jemand das schon mit Fanfic-Titeln und Zusammenfassungen gemacht hat...) Ich hab zwar selber nicht die Rechenleistung... oder die Skills, ein gutes von Grund auf aufzubauen... aber für beides gibt es eine Colab Notebook-Version von GPT-2.

Ich hab nur knapp 250 Namen zusammengetragen gekriegt, aber trotzdem - was passiert, wenn man das darauf loslässt?

Bis ich eine vorzeigbare Liste hatte, so einiges. (Nachdem ich den Versuch schlauerweise um sechs Uhr morgens unternommen hab, war meine hochwissenschaftliche Vorgehensweise “ich pieks das Ding mit nem Stock, bis es was Sinnvolles ausspuckt”...) Da GPT-2 schon mit einem Datensatz aus ner Tonne Webseiten trainiert wurde, generiert es unterwegs gerne auch mal Sätze...

Assembly

(Another ancient wip from my docs)

Earth was first contacted by a race of aliens known as The Ennak( N-awk) in the early 22th century while in the process of colonizing Mars and Venus.

The Ennak gave mankind a warning,” Return to your world and avert your eyes from the Heavens.” then gave Humanity a test of their power by destroying all Earth based life on Mars

Humanity fought back as well as it could, but they took many heavy losses before a second Alien race appeared and attacked the Ennak. These were the Albus Nympha, or the Nymphs. One of the oldest Space faring Species in the known Universe. Once the Ennak were driven from the Sol Solar System the Nymphs offered Humanity a place in the Cosmos.

Set Roughly 500 years later Man with a prominent place in “The Assembly” are determined to end the” Ennak threat” once and for all, creating twin dreadnaught class Warships, Rome, and Athens, these ships traverse throughout both Assembly free space, Ennak space, and uncharted space, searching for anything that could damage the Ennak beyond repair and send them either back into the crevasse of Time and Space from whence they came, or straight to Hell.

They have been collecting the finest examples of Free-Species through Assembly Free Space, such as-

Markus Jones: Human Nymph hybrid, raised on a lone multirace colony in the darkness outside Earth’s Solar System, by his Nymph Mother and befriended only by the idiot Calhoun, Jones knew little of natural Light or grown food, hated for his ruthlessness( even by Human standards) Jones had no room in his heart for caring, only survival.

Jo’an( Feminine Jon) A pure breed Nymph and expert in Olympian Battle strategem and mother of Markus’s daughter

Phrynosoma- Horned Cold blooded scaled aliens with sharp teeth, claws, and a dull wit

Albus Nympha-Minor Olympian race that survived the first recorded Ennak war

Lepus- Long eared mammalian species. Highly intelligent

Human Beings- hairless mammals from the planet earth; physically similar to the Nymphs. They share a genetic history and can also be considered minor olympians, though notably more war-like, and shorter lived.

“You didn’t get me the man I asked for.” Scorned Praetor Alexei

“He’s fast, smart, and incredibly dangerous; you wanted a warrior.” General Ulms said

“And you gave me a soldier” Said the Praetor

“What’s the difference?”

“A Warrior fights wars, and a Soldier serves them. I don’t need a servant with sniper training” Praetor Alexi said

“Even if he’s a good shot?” Ulms asked

“Funny.” Alexi said dryly

“I got you everything else you demanded of me, I searched Assembly Space up, down, and diagonally for these freaks; the Genius, the Tinkerer, the Poet, and now you're Warrior; all of them with some military training and accommodations. So Jones isn’t the bullseye you wanted; he’s still pretty damned close.” General Ulms

“He had better be more than I asked for, because I’m going to put every ounce of shit I have on him.” Alexei said

“You won’t hear any complaints from me; I brought them to you. Don’t give two Lizard droppings what you do with them.” General Ulms said

“You really are a Monster aren’t you.” The Praetor said

“Praetor, do I have to remind you just how little time we have left?” General Ulms asked

“Believe me General, I am very aware of what we have, and what we do not have.”

So,I had been brought aboard the StarShip Rome, was told that this was to be my home from this point forward. I didn’t care, back then I was-as both Jo’an and Calipso have called me on separate occasions-a Sword. I have begun this project to let anyone who cares to read it understand that I was not the demon I was made out to be by Ulms. That Alexi and the other deaths weren’t because of me, or anyone on my team. My name is Markus David Jones.

Anyway, my story starts out simple enough, my father couldn’t leave the the war against the Ennak, I don't blame him. As hard as war is trying to live life outside it once it grew into you is harder than the frontline. So he did the best he could and dropped my then pregnant mother on a multispecies colony just outside the Sol solar system. I was singled out so being half human and half Albus Nympha, a Strati. So I grew bitter, and calculating. You would have to be to survive enemies that could either slice you into ribbons, or giant rabbit men that could kick you into a brick wall.

No one was surprised when I enlisted the moment I came of age, spending my years training at makeshift camps and firing stations since I was little. Mom cried, not much I can really do about that now can I?

My life once I joined followed like this, two years in basic training, five years active frontlines men. After which I was promoted to Lieutenant, a position I head for 7 years before I was taken aboard the Warship Rome. I wasn’t a soldier anymore, my training meant nothing to them. “Yes, well.” Minor maintenance is often delegated.” He said,” Agent; are you aware of what Project is for?”

I thought about this, for about 0.3 seconds,” We are going to destroy the Ennaks, My Praetor.”

“About time someone got it right, I’ve heard people say we search for a means to destroy them, that we are a division of Human Military to police the Stars and claim any Ennak tech we come across, and some others; but when it comes down to the letter we are here for one purpose. To rid the Universe of the Ennak menace.” Alexi said

I did not say anything.

“You must be a riot at parties.” Alexi told me,” What do you know about the Ennak, Agent?”

“Sir, I have seen and fought the Ennak for 12 years on the frontline, I can tell you how they operate their Fleet forward and backward. My Praetor.” I told him

“Yes, so can anyone else you spent years on the frontline and has basic tactical training, but what makes you special, what is it that you know about the Ennak more than anyone else?”

I looked at my Commander straight in the face,” Nothing, My Praetor.”

An airstrike in eastern Syria killed eight fighters from Iraq’s Iran-backed Hashed al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Force) militia overnight, a monitoring group said Friday.

“Unidentified aircraft targeted vehicles and arms depots in the Albu Kamal area, causing a large explosion. At least eight Iraqi Hashed fighters were killed,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

He said several others were wounded.

Through a spokesman contacted by AFP, the US-led military coalition operating in Syria and Iraq denied carrying out the strike.

Abdel Rahman, of the Britain-based organization which documents the war in Syria through a network of activists on the ground, said three villages in the Albu Kamal area known for housing forces loyal to Tehran have been targeted by drone strikes since Wednesday, causing no casualties.

An Iraqi security official and a PMF official said warplanes targeted two vehicles carrying missiles on the Syrian side of the border. The strike was most likely carried out by Israeli warplanes, they said, but offered no evidence.

The area struck is key to a land corridor for Tehran that links Iran across Iraq and Syria through Lebanon. The Observatory report claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had informed Syrian President Bashar Assad this week of a US intention to “close” the land corridor for good.

Explosions were reported late Thursday at a base near the Iraqi-Syria border thought to be used by Shiite militias, in what was a suspected airstrike.

According to local news site DeirEzzor24, a weapons shipment to Lebanese terror group Hezbollah was targeted in the attack. The weapons reportedly included ballistic missiles belonging to the Imam Ali Brigade, a Shiite militia under the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces umbrella.

The Lebanese Al-Mayadeen news outlet claimed that the raid was carried out by Israeli aircraft, citing sources in the field. It said the raid targeted a weapons transport.

There was also no immediate response from Israel, which does not generally comment on foreign reports of individual strikes.

The strike came amid sky-high tensions in the region, following a deadly US drone strike on Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the effective head of the PMF, last week.

In September, large strikes in the same area that destroyed major parts of a weapons storehouse known as the Imam Ali compound were attributed to Israel.

Israel reportedly believed the base, which was overseen by Soleimani’s Quds Force, was a key element in Tehran’s effort to develop a so-called “land bridge” that would allow the Islamic Republic to easily move weapons, fighters, and war materiel from Iran through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Shortly after that strike, members of a Shiite militia in Syria fired a number of rockets toward Mount Hermon on the Israeli Golan Heights from the outskirts of Damascus, according to the Israeli military.

The projectiles fell short of the border and landed inside Syrian territory.

Israel views Iran as its greatest threat, and has acknowledged carrying out scores of airstrikes in Syria in recent years aimed primarily at preventing the transfers of sophisticated weapons, including guided missiles, to the Iran-backed Hezbollah.
