and this is long but just because you mentioned the engineering : do you know that type of modern art sculptures that have moving parts and look like mechanical constructs? maybe it would be fun if his engineering was more like those or like Rube Goldberg machines and Da Vinci's inventions or those elaborate puzzle boxes, something that isn't based on formal education in engineering but rather things he figured out from scratch with all sorts of odd unusual materials and mechanisms? that would also make his contraptions more difficult for Bruce to solve since Bruce might at first look at them from the pov of someone with a formal education in STEM instead of the out of the box creative thinking necessary to solve them and it could push Bruce to get more creative. a kind of 'by all means this should not work but Ed somehow cobbled it together in such a way that it does' type of engineering? and this is a small thing but what's your thoughts on if instead of modern high tech robots he built ones like those by historical artists and goldsmiths that work with cranks and clockwork mechanics etc. and were meant more for entertainment and art than practical use? he dresses like a neon colored version of an Edwardian gentleman after all (did DC ever make a reference to his first name fitting with the time period his costume is styled after? because imo they should. ik he canonically only invented his last name but if he came up with his first name himself too that would be a perfect reference for it) so why not give him a more timeless or somewhat historical vibe instead of just being a modern futuristic hacker or engineer? oh, sorry if this ask was too long

I think what you are refering would be kinetic art. Now this is a form of art related to moviment as whole that includes both optical ilusions and actual moving parts by sometimes unusual material it also can involve applied calculated use of physics theories.

I think both kinetic art and Rube Goldberg machines would be a huge influence for his constructs and of course by your description I cannot stop imagining his inventions as somehow a form of steampunk. The unusual materials and victorian aespects. Delicious.

Also your definition of: "by all means this should not work but Ed somehow coobled it together in such a way that it does" fits the concept of gambiarra. It's a brazilian concept - though not an exclusive brazilian fenomena - to refere to creative and unusual ways to build something using whatever you already has, it's specially common in low income househoods. Wich could mean that his engenering skill cames both from art but also for growing up in a low income and negletifull househood where even as a kid he had to do with what he had and with little help. The heater broke? Twelve years old Ed had to find some way to fix it because they coudn't freeze to death and no one was going to do ot for him. So his skills are artistic and pratical and not really academic. Wich means Bruce the rich boy with no care for art has to really go outisde of his logical and academic bubble to understand Ed's plan. The two rules to defeat Riddler became: the classical don't play by his rules but also the fundamental but go to his world.

THE SEVEN SHOES OF THE PRINCESS

(Brazilian Tale)

Once upon a time there was a kingdom where a princess who worned out seven pairs of shoes per night. Then John, a young man who leaved his house with father's blessings, camed to the kingdom and heard of that mysteryous case. The king would give the hand of his daughter in marriage to the person that discovered the truth. But if the person failed, his neck would be send to the chopping block. John went to talk with the king, combining to sleep in a room close to the princess chambers. The princess ordered a maid to put a sleeping potion into John's tea, but the young man was witty, and didn't dranked the tea.

Pretending to sleep John found a box under the princess's bed. By midnight, he heard the princess's voice calling:

-Calicote! Calicote! It's time!

From inside the box jumped a little devil.

-Yes, it's time! It's time, princess!

The princess dressed up and putted in the box six pairs of new shoes (that made seven with the ones she was wearing in her feet), the little devil tooked the box and acompanied the princess to a carriage that tooked then away. John jumped into the carriage's back to follow. They passed by fields of extraordinary flowers, made of bronze, silver, gold, diamond, rubi and emerald. John picked one of each flower and hided then in his pocket.

They arrived at a rich, bright palace, full of servants, guests, music and festive movimentations. They went all to the dinner room and John hided himself below the table, putting in his pocket the bones of chicken and turkey that felt on the floor. The ball beggined and the princess worned out a pair of shoes in each dance, replacing it by new ones. Calicote would trow the old shoes out in a corner and John would take posession of the ragged shoes.

Around 2:00 p.m, the princess sayed:

-Calicote, it's time!

-Yes princess, let's go!

They returned the same way they leaved. Calicote went to inside the box, the went back to bellow the bad. In the morning the king asked John for the enigmas solution, and the young man asked for a banquet to be given, with the presences of the bishop and the princess. The banquet was served and, at dessert time, John asked if there in the royal gardens existed flowers of bronze, silver, gold, etc., while one by one showing the ones that he picked during his noturnal journey. And he showed the golden bones of chicken and turkey; the princess was geting more and more pale; finally he showed the worned out shoes; making the princess faint. Running to the chambers, John camed back with

the box and asked the bishop to bless it. The bishop so did it and the box exploded, releasing in the air a smell of sulfur that no one could bear. The princess opened her eyes, returning to her senses, and exclaimed filled with joy:

-Thank God, I am free!

She was released of the bad fate that a hellish faerie had given to her when she was twelve years old, envious of her great beauty.

John married the princess, and everyone lived happily and content.

So, in Brazilian politics, deputy Alexandre Frota, former member of president Jair Bolsonaro's political party (Social Liberal Party, or PSL), has said that there is literal physical bunker where so-called "Bolsonarist digital militias" (which coordinatingly promote attacks to opponents, start hashtags, boost fake news and disinformation, flood social media with bots defending the president, etc). That group is led by blogger Allan dos Santos, according to him. Frota has said he aims to locate and reveal the bunker, and suspects there are two cabinets in the Chamber of Deputies behind the virtual attacks. He said he aims to star movimentation to take the country's current administration down.

Mastozoologia

A mastozoologia é o ramo da biologia responsável por estudar os mamíferos, e o biólogo que estuda esse ramo é chamado de mastozoólogo. O termo relaciona à principal característica que distingue os mamíferos dos outros animais, as glândulas mamárias. Mastozoologia vem da junção de três radicais: masto = presença de glândulas mamárias, zoo = animais e logus = estudo, sendo assim “o estudo dos animais que possuem glândulas mamárias.

No Brasil, nós temos mais de 700 espécies de mamíferos, colocando-o como um dos países com a maio diversidade desse grupo no planeta. E como a biodiversidade é grande, os métodos para estudar esses animais também o são, afinal o mastozoólogo deve se adequar às características de cada grupo se quiser entendê-los melhor.

Os mamíferos são animais bem difíceis de serem estudados, uma vez que ao contrário das aves, que podem ser encontradas pelos cantos, ou até facilmente avistadas pousadas em cima de galhos ou voando, os mamíferos são mais discretos e geralmente não emitem sons com certa frequência (a não ser pelos primatas), tornando a sua localização um pouco mais trabalhosa.

Métodos de estudo

Existem várias formas de se estudar os mamíferos, sendo os cinco mais relevantes descritos abaixo.

Armadilhas fotográficas

Um dos métodos mais utilizados, as armadilhas fotográficas, são câmeras sensíveis à calor e à movimentação. Mamíferos são endotérmicos, ou seja, a temperatura corporal é regulada pelo próprio metabolismo, fazendo com que sejam animais de “corpo quente”. Isso associado ao sensor de movimentação faz com que essas câmeras fotografem tudo que tenha temperatura alta ou se movimente na frente delas. Sendo assim, os mastozoólogos instalam essas câmeras em estacas ou mesmo em árvores no meio das matas e deixam elas ligadas durante o tempo que quiserem, assim conseguem fotos de vários animais que ali habitam e que seriam difíceis de serem avistados.

Avistamento

Apesar de as armadilhas fotográficas fornecerem uma boa base de dados, elas estão limitadas aos animais terrestres e que passem em sua frente. Um outro método utilizado é o do avistamento, que consiste em andar por trilhas dentro das matas procurando os mamíferos. Esse método é muito utilizado para animais arborícolas, especialmente primatas e bichos-preguiça, uma vez que esses animais não costumam descer muito ao solo tornando-os muito difíceis de serem registrados pelas armadilhas fotográficas ou outros métodos que falaremos mais adiante.

Procura por vestígios

Esse método é uma verdadeira “brincadeira de detetive”. Você já deve ter ouvido falar que por onde você anda deixa um rastro, correto? E com os outros mamíferos é a mesma coisa, por onde eles andam deixam rastros, pegadas, fezes, pelos e até marcas de unha. O mastozoólogo procura esses vestígios para descobrir, através deles, quais mamíferos os deixaram, Através das pegadas, é fácil identificar várias espécies apenas as olhando. Fezes e pelos, muitas vezes podem precisar de uma posterior análise laboratorial e as marcas de unha (alguns animais arranham árvores e troncos para marcar seus territórios, especialmente os grandes gatos), são evidências fortes de que ali vive uma onça-pintada ou uma onça-parda. Alguns pesquisadores utilizam cães treinados para farejar e encontrar esses vestígios ou mesmo os animais.

Rádios-colares

Esses equipamentos são pequenos transmissores de sinais via rádio e/ou satélite acoplados em colares que os pesquisadores colocam nos mamíferos. Sendo assim, é possível monitorar os passos desse animal à qualquer distância, uma vez que, no caso dos rádios via satélite, o sinal será emitido direto para o computador do pesquisador.

Captura com armadilhas

Utilizada principalmente para pequenos mamíferos, as armadilhas são instaladas em locais de passagem de fauna, como trilhas, galhos de árvores. São colocadas iscas nessas armadilhas para atrair os animais, geralmente uma pasta feita com bananas e amendoim. Essas armadilhas tem que ser revisadas constantemente para evitar que os animais se machuquem. Em casos de morcegos, podem ser usadas as “redes de neblina”, que são redes bem finas, onde os morcegos são capturados e o pesquisador pode estudá-lo melhor.

Esses estudos podem nos ajudar a entender como os mamíferos se distribuem, quais as principais ameaças e qual seu papel na natureza. Ultimamente, já sabemos que os mamíferos são fundamentais para o reflorestamento e manutenção das matas, trocas gasosas no ciclo de carbono, enfim, processos ambientais importantíssimos para a manutenção da vida terrestre.

Sombra has been a big presence in Brazilian rap since the early 00s due to his work with SNJ. This is old school rap made with some amazing musicians and a message that stills ring true about Brazil’s problems with inequality and corruption. Opening track “Rap do Brasil” is genius, showing that here Sombra is the equal of Jurassic 5, The Pharcyde, Wu Tang and the best that US hip-hop had to offer in the 90s and 00s. Seguing into a bouncy reggae-tinged chorus it’s a real gem. “Movimente-se” and “O Homem Sem Face” are just of the other tracks that ensure that this is a bonafide classic. Treino GAP: Como dá certo? Não há mesmo desculpas pra não frequentar uma academia. Há atividades para todos os gostos. Se você ama dançar e odeia máquinas de musculação, temos as aulas de zumba, dança do ventre e algumas. Se você ama exercícios focados para surgir ao corpo perfeito, talvez um treino GAP seja a tua praia. Neste instante são famosos há mais de uma década. Mesmo que você não tenha ouvido pronunciar-se do treino GAP por aí, talvez neste momento tenha até participado de um entretanto não se lembra.

Após ler nosso post completo, talvez tenha ainda mais desejo de fazer! O que é o treino GAP? O treino GAP consiste em exercícios para glúteos, abdomem e pernas, citando o porquê da sigla. Esta aula tripla e mais completa surgiu nos anos 90, no momento em que a mulher independente começou a ter cada vez menos tempo disponível para malhar. Os moldes convencionais pediria um dia pra cada bateria de exercícios e trabalho em uma musculatura, portanto se trabalharia no máximo pernas e abdome. Com os novos exercícios em tríplice, fica mais fácil se empenhar a ao que importa. Afinal, quem não busca uma bacana academia pra esse grupo muscular, não é mesmo?

Especialmente pernas torneadas, o sonho de numerosas mulheres. Pode ser feita todos os dias, porém o melhor é deixar a musculatura descansar, sendo assim sinaliza-se trabalhar com GAP 3 dias por semana só. A maior quantidade das academias possui um programa alternado, com aulas às segundas, quartas e sextas ou terças, quintas e sábados, no entanto a toda a hora alternando. Porém nada evita você de fazer de segunda à sexta, especialmente se teu objetivo é queimar calorias e cortar medidas. Aula de GAP emagrece?

O grupo de exercícios de GAP listados pra uma aula é composto por movimentos para tornear as pernas que ajudam assim como a definir a musculatura do bumbum, malhar braços às vezes e abdominais aos montes. Não são difíceis e muito menos cansativos. Há quem não use nada para começar a formar resistência corporal e somente depois busque resistência pra somente depois raciocinar no tornear. Para que pessoas nunca fez aula vai cansar um pouco, dessa forma forçar no peso não é uma interessante pedida.

Comece de suave, sem caneleiras mesmo e depois você vá aumentando aos poucos. Qual é o Questão do Treino Gap? O questão dos exercícios de GAP é a repetição. Ao menos três séries de cada exercíco, com intervalo de menos de um minuto. Isto garante uma musculatura melhor trabalhada. Você tem que atravessar os quarenta minutos de aula ou mais movimentando o corpo, e isto gera uma queima de calorias. Logo, o GAP emagrece. Cada atividade que movimente o organismo e gere queima de calorias emagrece, vale informar, por menor que possa ser. Você sabia que apenas o ato de varrer gera uma queima de calorias?

Dependendo do tamanho da moradia, varrer utilizando uma vassoura comum queima de 150 a duzentos calorias! Confira este artigo pra saber mais sobre atividades domésticas que queimam calorias. Ed totally would be into surrealist art, too, I think. Magritte's The Treachery of Images/ ceci n'est pas une pipe is about semiotics as are other surrealist artworks and the installations Ed sometimes makes in canon like idk a giant interactive typewriter to solve puzzles on are very modern art so I could totally see him leaving elaborate clues in the style of surrealist paintings ala Magritte, he's certainly weird enough for it- it would even fit with his outfit, the three piece suit and bowler hat, cause that's the time period that clothing style was from and him choosing his costume because he is a fan of surrealism and Magritte's numerous surrealist paintings of men with bowler hats could be very fun I think! I agree. Surrealism has the perfect mix of absurdism and meaning that would undoubtly attract Edward and Magritte speacilly fits his style (though he can obviasly appreate the classics like Dali and Miró). I would also add Dadaism into his favorite artistic moviments specifically for the existencialism in an art that tries to defy art itself and denounces both logic and the capitalistic society (now Eddie is a logic person but he has enought encounters with magic and other absurds to show that - with the exception of Gotham Ed - he more often then not see logic as only a part of how the wolrd works, an usefull tool instead of the absolute truth, so I think it fits. I have no reason for the anticapitalism outside of cartoon Riddlers and Unburied but projection never killed anybody).

For last just because I can and because Edward would be interested in wordly knowledge and appreciation I will consider him a fan of brazilian surrealism and as so an enjoyed of Tarsila do Amaral and Maria Martins).

No wait. I have another final coment: the idea that his suits are related to his appreciation for Magritte is completly genius and I have no idea how I forgot to say that on the start of this post. Nos dias 11, 12 e 13 de maio, a Marina da Glória recebe a 6ª edição do Green Rio, evento que reúne representantes da economia verde e do setor orgânico, reconhecido como plataforma para negócios sustentáveis. São esperados mais de 3.000 visitantes no evento, que estarão em contato com expositores do Brasil e do exterior. Em 2017, o Green Rio terá como tema central o crescimento da bioeconomia. Segundo a Organização para a Cooperação e Desenvolvimento Econômico (OCDE), a bioeconomia movimenta no mercado mundial 2 trilhões de euros e gera cerca de 22 milhões de empregos. A bioeconomia estabelece um novo patamar de desenvolvimento para enfrentar os desafios do mundo moderno, como escassez de água potável, produção sustentável de alimentos e de energia, mobilidade urbana e mudanças climáticas. A bioeconomia é reconhecida como a “economia do século XXI”. O Green Rio vem se firmando como evento internacional e a edição de 2017 com a participação de Alemanha, França, CEAL (Conselho Empresarial da América Latina) e do Banco Centroamericano de Integração Econômica é um indicador deste posicionamento. Golaço: Ronaldo Fenômeno vira sócio de time brasileiro de League of Legends - A Notícia do Dia

Ícone no futebol brasileiro e mundial, e um dos atletas mais renomados do país, Ronaldo Nazário parece ter um faro aguçado para negócios nos esportes desde que resolveu pendurar as chuteiras. Um exemplo disso é que, há alguns anos, o ex-atleta resolveu apoiar o MMA, cuidando da imagem de nome como Anderson Silva, Júnior Cigano e outros lutadores no UFC. Agora, de olho em um mercado igualmente promissor, o Fenômeno decidiu investir nos eSports ao comprar parte do CNB e-Sports Club – uma das organizações mais tradicionais do setor.

Apesar de o negócio que faz com que o eterno R9 se torne um dos responsáveis pela empresa ter sido fechado no Rio de Janeiro durante a semana, o anúncio oficial do projeto só foi feito neste sábado (21), data em que tem início a nova temporada do Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLoL). Mesmo sendo mais conhecida pelo seu elenco no famoso MOBA da Riot Games, a CNB já teve times nos mais variados jogos competitivos e ainda hoje conta com uma equipe no Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

A carreira de empresário do Fenômeno agora cruza com os eSports

O objetivo é transferir um pouco mais da adrenalina que rola nos campos de futebol para dentro dos eSports

“Os jogos eletrônicos são tendência no mundo inteiro e, no Brasil, são uma febre. Na final do Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends 2016, mais de 15 mil pessoas compareceram ao Ginásio do Ibirapuera para acompanhar a final entre a INTZ (que foi campeã) e a CNB. É um movimento impressionante!”, exalta Ronaldo. Ele acredita ainda que, na condição de atleta, se identifica muito com os ideais da CNB e que o objetivo da empreitada é tentar transferir um pouco mais da adrenalina que rola nos campos de futebol para dentro dos eSports.

Vale notar que, além do antigo atacante da seleção canarinho, o novo quadro de sócios da CNB também deve contar com outros nomes importantes, mas de uma modalidade bem diferente: o pôquer. Isso porque André Akkari, campeão mundial do jogo de cartas, e Igor Trafane Federal, diretor-executivo do Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP), se juntam ao Fenômeno no comando de 50% da empresa. A outra metade do negócio continua nas mãos dos fundadores do clube de esportes eletrônico, os irmãos Cleber Fonseca e Carlos Junior.

Segmento em pleno crescimento

Os sócio-fundadores, aliás, vem com ótimos olhos a chegada de um elenco tão estrelado na liderança da organização. “A administração continua a mesma, comigo e com meu irmão, o que muda é que agora temos dois campeões mundiais conosco, o que agrega bastante para a nossa imagem”, explica Carlos no site de notícias do grupo. “Acho que é um alavanque de negócios para conseguirmos explorar novos mercados, como o do futebol e de outros jogos eletrônicos”, completa.

Segundo a página, o “namoro” entre Ronaldo e a CNB começou ainda em 2016, quando o ex-jogador sondava uma entrada no segmento dos eSports através da própria CNB. A primeira conversa a respeito de uma possível sociedade aconteceu logo depois das finais do 2º Split do CBLoL e em agosto o acordo para venda de parte do negócio foi firmado – com o restante do ano sendo usado para acertas questões contratuais.

Os números do setor são bem atrativos

Não é de se estranhar que o Fenômeno já estivesse de olho nesse mercado. Além de lá fora a pratica de artistas, empresários e atletas apostarem no esporte eletrônico ser relativamente comum – como é o caso de Shaquille O’Neal e outros jogadores de basquete, que possuem parte da NRG e-Sports –, os números do setor são bem atrativos. Em uma pesquisa de 2015, a estimativa era que esse negócio movimentou mais de US$610 milhões, atraiu 70 milhões de espectadores e cresce ano após ano. É o que dizem: não tem bobo no futebol!

Olá, blumers!

Além de os blumers – como são conhecidos os fãs da CNB – de coração corintiano ou cruzeirenses poderem comemorar a chegada de Ronaldo Fenômeno ao pedaço, a organização como um todo parece se preparar para mais novidades em 2017. Um exemplo é o anúncio que a equipe acabou de se tornar a primeira do mundo a contar com uma arena multiuso e que transmitirá no local todas as partidas do CBLoL. O espaço conhecido como CNB Arena, em São Paulo, tem capacidade para 150 pessoas, computadores, telão, lanchonete e showrooms.

Today is the day brazilian became a republic and to ceoebrate it I'll do something my ancestors were problably trying to stop having to do: explain brazilian history to gringos.

Beforhand in gringo is not a slur. It's used to define non-latinos, specifically the white ones and I don't think a slur can be used to refer to an ethinical marjority.

Anyway: my point here is to explain how the country of Brazil choose the wrong date to celebrate the democracy. So here it goes:

The first is today. Now of course not being a monarchy is a good thing. I'm not one of those weirdos who think the Braganças were great and everyrhing started to go wrong when we sended DP2 in a no return cruise to France. They sucked - DP2 less than his deadbeat dad but still - and becoming a democracy is definitivaly the way to go. But it's a lie.

The moviment that ended the brazilian short lived monarchy was controlled by the elites, a fight for democracy without any participation of the people wich is very contraditory, not only that but what they really institutioned was not a true democracy but an oligarquy with a fancy costume. Elections were decided by fear and manipulation to keep the candidates of this oligarquy winning. They divided in two partys and alternated in power from year to year until Getúlio Vargas decided he was done with it and became a ditactor because of course he did.

My pitch is that instead of celebrating a phony republic from 1889 we celebrate a real one for 1984. The end of the Diretas Já moviment and the end of the militar ditactorship with the first elections hold by the people. It was not perfect because god forbid things go well on brazilian politics but it was a genuine effort of the people who brought a real democracy. A fair one. A democracy were we can still win against a president with military and paramilitary support simply by voting. So we should celebrate the end of the Diretas Já in april instead of november's oligarquy.

So Brazil is having protests in favor of democracy (our president defends the militar ditactorship [he rly choose legalized torture as his "facist past" - a term which here means the idealized fake idea of a past used by altright and others facist leaning goverments to sell retrograde ideals and to represent the "values" that where "lost" by civil right moviments], he also is doing the whole Trump thing of implying vote fraud since he is losing in the pols and he is running for reelection this year, there are otuer detals but I can't explain it for non brazilians). And I'm at the same time sad that the small town I live in didn't had the protests and feeling proud of my country for the first time in a long time (sure when "independence day" comes and the programed pro-goverment protests start this feeling will go away but still noice).

P.S: there is nothing weirder than to see the main brazilian media outlet defending the protests while trying to sell them as apolitical, unrelated to the upcoming election and just a good neutral thing. It isn't neutral. People didn't just woke up and decided to say "hey ditactorship is bad actually", is a direct response of our president saying it isn't!!

I may or may not have be waiting for this moment my whole life (and yeah that is a hiberbole) but I finally got the oportunity to talk about two of my favorite subjects: Brazil and Julie e os Fantasmas, not Julie and the Phanthoms, the original brasiliam version of the show. 

So, my jorney started when I was talking online with my cousin and we got on the discussion about the differences of the two series what ended with us looking through american articles about the show and talking/discuting and ocasionaly laughting at them.  There wasn’t many articles, but there was enough to make the conversation flow and them my catalisys happened - kindda of - I found an Screen Rant article about the diferences between them.

It was a short article and most of it was pretty basic stuff, I didn’t agree wth everything and honestly found the way they made some comparissons unecessary - they didn’t need to drag the brazilian version down to put the american up! both are already great shows - but like whathever. Them... them it came a sentence that annoyed me a lot : the figurine talk.

Now I don’t think it was on purpose or anything like that but it had some misinformation. It started pretty solid with the article stating that since the bands (Apolo 81 and Sunset Curve) were from diferent timelines (the first from the 80′s and the former from the 90′s) they dressed diferentely. What yeah. It’s a good point. 

Even the picture about the cd and the disco show it perfectly. They are not the same band. They are not from the same era nor from the same country and as so they are not so similar in most ways. It is a extremely good point on a comparison.

So why it bothered me so much?

Well, cause what came after it. 

After conquering my respect with a really good point the article managed to lose it and make me angry on the next sentence. For absolutely no reason the Screen Rant people decided that it was important to coment that the figurine in Julie e os Fantasmas was “strange” and a mere “ early 00′s view on the 80′s without real proximity”. None coment was made about Julie and the Phantoms figurine at all.  And of course it was wrong in three points.

 The exclusion of Julie and the Phantons in the text. Don’t get me wrong while nostalgia and the fact that I identify myself more in the original for cultural reasons make me preffer the brazilian version, I like the american one and find it really weel made. But the phatoms don’t dress 100% like the 90′s. And no. This is not a mistake. Doesn’t matter how acurate it tries to be any portrait of a diferent era will still have touches of the vision that our era has of it and that is just how it is. Yeah, the brazilian figures have some inspirational on the emo culture and bands like MCR and Green Day (alongside with some brazilian bands who were popular in the 00′’s) but it’s natural that it happens just like it’s natural that Julie and the Phatons have some inspiration on 20′s culture.

The relation of the figurines with the plot. In the brazilian show the way the phatons died it’s super diferent. They had they first important contract and would make a debut album soon. The four (yeap four) members of the band decided to take the photografy to the album cover by themselfs and to made it be just like the Abbey Road cover, as they get ready the newest member of the band decided to go take his shoes (so he could look like Paul McCartney) and while he did that a truck lost control (probably trying to stop after seeing the boys on the road) and kill the three of them.  Why is it important for the figurine discussion? As you probably know the clothes you die on will be your only clothes as a gosth. That means that the Apolo 81 died dressed up for an album cover and not in “casual day to day 80′s clothes”. 

The cultural diferences. And here is the most important point. The 80′s in U.S and latin america - especially Brazil - were very diferent times. Now it’s time for a brief history lesson: the 80′s on Brazil was a very important era marked by a huge economic crise, the end of a 30 years ditatorial regime and a cultural clash. While it only ended oficially in 1985 the brazilian militar regime started to decay a little early with new laws being aproved to garantee forgiviness to the political prisioners, the people who were forced to get out of the country, the rebels and the dictators (yeah, a bunch of torturers, rapists and murderes were forgiven too). Also was in the 80′s that the censorship started to disapear and as consequence a lot of movies, music and litature (beside other cultural and entertament forms) from the 60′s and 70′s was only now getting in the country.

On the other hand the end of the regime showed a sad reality: the economic “miracle” that the country was living was a facade based on a bunch of loans with foreing countries in a tentative of promove the ditatorship and as consequence Brazil was full of debt and pretty broke (we only finish paying the debt in the 00′’). This crise made the young members of the middle class - who were already a strong force against the ditartoship cause of the abuses they suffered on ditactors hands for dooing teenage things - even angrier. They were sinking. And so the punk rock came to Brazil. Well more less, brazilian punk rock has influence of other genres like pop, classic rock, some brazilian moviments like tropicalia and bossa nova and even jazz, so not so punk, but still pretty punk. After all Brazil was finally reciving the news. 

Thanks to this whole background the brazilian bands were pretty unique - they still are - and so had they own dress style with a lot of foreing influences and honestly a lot of diferent options (also the queer liberation and the AIDS crises came almost the same time to Brazil giving the bands, most made by queer (some closeted) people even more reason to be angsty and mad about).  So the style, the personality and the figurines of Apolo 81 members are actually mostly accurate, having similar references.  

Yeah, the references. In the show besides the obvius influence brazilian pop rock band NX0  had on Julie’s band, the influences of the Apolo 81 boys are more implicit (though the lider Daniel is a clear fan of Beatles and The Doors and the other members also talk about the Stones and The Who) but it’s preaty easy to see the similaritys with some brazilian big rock bands of the time. I will show some pictures of them and for last the fictional band of the phatoms.
