Last night I was making notes for a series of rituals I’m working on for dealing with and healing trauma in my family. I was flipping through my Crystals For Healing book. The book has an index of rituals, crystals, and mediations for different situations. This one is based of on of the rituals from the book for spiritual and/or emotional cleansing and working with Loki’s family is the perfect conduit for familial healing, so I worked them both in together. The format is there. I added a bunch and changed out the mantra. I what to give credit where credit is due for the basis and format of the ritual. The book is Crystals for Healing: Remedies for mind, heart, and soul by Karen Frazier. It’s incredibly helpful and very accessible and I highly recommend it.
So here’s what was from the book:
* 1/4 cup Himalayan pink salt or sea salt in a full bathtub
* sit in bathtub and add smoky and clear quartz
*soak for 10 mins with eyes closed while repeating the mantra
*remove crystals from the tub and then drain it, remaining in the tub until the water drains out
* cleanse crystals
The mantra provided is “I fill myself with a pure cleansing white light”
(Karen Frazier does it better and there’s a bunch more good stuff in this entry. Go read it.)
I didn’t really vibe with the mantra, so I started to write my own dedicated to Loki and Sigyn and it sort of took on a life of its own. Here’s what I wrote and what I really want to share:
“May the wildfire, force of nature, God Loki of fire, Sweet Sigyn of sun, may all that no longer serves me be burned away by your love. Let your love for me and each other purify me and fill me with bright white healing light that I may love as you do. Grace of the Bowl Holder, cunning of the Trickster God, Goddess of Security, Goddess of Chaos, help me walk through this world with the healing fire of Justice tempered by the Love of all things sacred.”
I’m extra, so I added some other crystals: obsidian, hematite, rose quartz, amethyst, and pyrite/fools gold (obvi)
I also lit three candles: one for me, one for Sigyn, and one for Loki
After the bath water draining, I rinsed myself off with cold water.
It was really truly wonderful.
As I try to untangle myself from the cycles of generational trauma and the trauma that was heaped on top of it by my own parents, I want to burn like fire, but be guided by love. I don’t want to lose the scars, but I now know I no longer need to suffer. I can heal. I deserve to heal. One thing I have learned with working with Loki’s family is the depth of love and complexity there.
My family is complicated. It’s broken at every joint, all of us disconnected and hurting and traumatized in our own way. It’s a small family, but there’s a lot of pain. With Loki’s family? I have found a partner in Loki, a friend in Sigyn, a brother in Fenrir, a mother in Angrboda, and connected deeply with others devoted to these deities. That’s what healing is about. It’s about connection. I cannot try to bring healing to my own family without healing for myself.
As I continue to go deeper into this journey with this wonderful crazy beautiful family, I’ve found a safety and comfort I’ve never known in my life. I cry on my mother’s lap, I rest in my partner’s arms, I learn from my friend, I fight side-by-side with my brother and there are more I have not yet connected with. I never knew that healing on this scale, of this magnitude, was possible.
I never understood unconditional love. I fought against it in my life in this realm. My wife and I have been together nearly 8 years, married 2 1/2 and until recently, would look at her and fear that someday she will decided I am too big, too much, and she would leave. She would be one more in a long line of trauma. But she has stayed. Loki’s family has helped me understand how that’s possible. I have lived in unconditional love with my wife, but I didn’t trust it until I felt Sigyn and Loki’s hands over mine as I held the bowl over my own head and Sigyn told me that there was no distance, no where I could go that they wouldn’t find me and bring me home.
Home. Such a big and powerful word. That’s what Loki’s family is. It’s home. And that’s what I want to share, because everyone deserves a place to belong.

There's an Eclipse Tomorrow
Born of the fen dweller Like twin stars in the night sky Comets constantly trailing at rapid pace The burn of air in your lungs a blessing The gnashing of your teeth a gift Your hunger a curse
Will you meet your fate if chosen? Will your strength give out before then?
You who are destined to free the father Devour the silvery orb and let it’s rays drip like mercury Down your throat Let it’s eclipse be found in your fangs
You who are destined to free the father Devour the golden orb and let it’s rays melt like fire Through your fangs Let it’s eclipse be found in your throat
Night and day they run Endlessly trailing Eternally hungry Until that final dreadful day Where they take a bite And Devour

@florietiae asked: ❝ zagreus really doesn’t know when to quit       this little brunch is starting to go downhill, and fast. yet he's still trying. on the opposite end of things, however, melinoë's lips purse, uncertainty flickering over her features for a few, fleeting seconds. poor atreus, sitting there so awkwardly. she doesn't blame him. keeping conversation with the god of the underworld can feel a bit daunting. although, she thinks she may have an idea that might turn things around. melinoë leans over to loki and murmurs, " hey, you're doing better than you think. i have a plan. " she decides to circle back onto zagreus' eariler mention of a certain three-headed dog, and says, " you know, father, i introduced atreus to cerberus not long ago. i think he adores him as much as you do.--'' / plops this here 😊 ❞ ( random ask )
Loki hadn't been surrounded by so many unfamiliar gods since. . . well, Asgard. But gods to whom he was by all means related to? Through his father of all people? It was difficult to not be awkward, bouncing between talking all too much and sitting there wringing his hands. Melinoë and Zagreus were one thing—easier to converse with, to ask questions of—but Hades himself was more worrisome.
Tumblr media
Melinoë's whispered words brought the lifting of brows, an unsure smile sliding into place. "Really?" His eyes flicked from her to Hades, Loki sitting up a bit straighter in his seat. After all, surely she knew best if Hades was. . . taking all of this well. Her change of topic in particular brought a smile, genuine and bright, back to his face. "Oh, yeah! He's really cool—and friendly!" Much different than Loki had expected given what he heard in myths from his father and Mimir. Then again, he had been introduced by Melinoë. "You know, I can actually communicate with animals. I have a wolf about the same size as Cerberus, Fenrir. I was thinking—" And he was off.

Devotional Poem for Fenrir
Your first words to me
were more cold winter air than howl,
more silence than speech,
gentle almost, in the way of a tired soldier.
I clutched your figurine in a fist,
ready to fight, wanting to flee.
You answered the question that has haunted me
from the time I learned to speak
You whispered,
“Some things are unbreakable —
until they are not.”
I too have watched my child’s chains
grow tighter with every struggle.
I have sat with her and wept with her,
and wept *for* her
I too have bitten off
the hand that betrayed me.
When the storm threatened to take me
you said to me,
“Some things are unbreakable —
until they are not.”
Our mother sang lullabies in my ears
when the woman who birthed me
held me down
because I would not stop crying.
In fear I flung her compassion in her face.
When my heart hardened,
you assured me,
“Some things are unbreakable —
Until they are not.”
You, too, know what it is
to be tied down and mocked.
you, too, know what it is
to be called strong as they
spit in your face
and talk behind your back.
You, too, know what it is
to never be satisfied
with the scraps you are thrown.
You spoke to me then,
and you speak to me now,
“Some things are unbreakable —
until they are not.”
While I plot my Ragnarok,
I dream of washing the world
in fire and blood,
to break apart,
to tear down
to expose
to avenge
to bring honor the survivors.
It is by your example,
Oh, Great Monster Wolf,
Devourer of the Sun,
Being of Darkness and Hunger.
You stand by my side and shake yourself,
blood rushing back into your limbs
And with a growl, baring teeth
longing to tear
into traitorous throats,
you snarl,
“Come, brother.
We have work to do.”

Sköll has called me back into the folds of the pack. I have followed in the paw prints of the sons of Járnvidr before but lifechanges took me away from the spiritual.
But the signs were persistent and eventually proved impossible to ignore as mere coincidences. The wolves have welcomed me home.

Devotional writing to Loki
Tumblr media
He smiles, he looks upon me,
His features shift, again and again.
He is my father, my mother, my brother, my self;
He is in turn an illusion, a wildfire, and a breeze.
He is the source of all mystery
He is the spark behind every idea
He is the shape of the runes
He is the sound of every song.
He was given more names than language can remember:
He is Lopt, Loke, Loka,
Whose presence is a trance, hypnotizing;
He is the foe of Heimdallr,
Whose form is ever-changing, ever moving.
He is bench-mate of Óðinn,
Thief of the giants,
Father of the Ván-Monster,
Of the Miðgarðsormr;
Unclear are the outlines of his being:
He is the bound God.
And yet, he is free as the wind!
His mind is unbound, his body without limit.
For thought itself cannot be confined,
And so, the might of Loki is boundless.

Loki Deity Guide
Loki’s mythology is not as chaotic as you may think…
It’s even more chaotic than that!
Tumblr media
Who is Loki?
Often referred to as the Trickster God of the Aesir, Loki is actually the son of Fárbauti a giant, or a Jötunn, and Laufey, who was said to be a goddess. Though Loki is often referred to using he/him pronouns, can change his shape and gender at will.
While many of the old stories involving Loki paint him in a negative light, the same cannot be said for Loki’s modern followers.
Parents and Siblings
Fárbauti (Father)
Laufey (Mother), sometimes referred to as Nál.
Býleistr (Brother)
Helblindi (Brother)
Lovers or Partners
Sigyn (Wife)
Angrboda (Lover)
Children
Nari or Narfi (from Sigyn)
Hel (From Angrboda)
Jörmungandr (From Angrboda)
Fenrir (From Angrboda)
Sleipnir (From Svadilfari)
Epithets
Loptr (Old Norse meaning “Air”)
Hveðrungr (Roarer)
Contriver of all fraud
Shape-Changer
Sly-One
Wizard of Lies
Thief of Giants
Evil Companion
Kinsman of Sleipnir
Foe of the Gods
Forger of Evil
Contriver of Baldr’s death
Wrangling Foe of Heimdallr
Notes
Loki was known to be mischievous and at times malicious, but he was also rather helpful in many stories.
At some point Loki’s name became conflated with Logi, meaning “fire”, however, Logi is a separate being and is the Nordic personification or god of fire. Many blame Richard Wagner for this mix-up.
It is also possible that Loki’s name means “knot” or “tangle”.
It has been debated whether or not the Finnish "Lukki" (the name for a spider with thing, long legs) came from the same root as "Loki" ("luka" the proto-germanic word for "lock") but this is not a very popular belief and there is very little evidence to back it up.
Though Loki is part Jötunn, he is seen as part of the Aesir.
My personal favorite story of Loki is Þrymskviða, in which Loki and Thor disguise themselves as women in order to get Thor’s hammer back.
Sleipnir, Loki’s son, is an eight-legged horse that came to be when Loki had to transform into a mare in order to drive away the great stallion, Svadilfari. While Loki was in the form of a mare, the two came together to create Sleipnir who was said to be the fastest and best horse in all of the nine realms. Odin eventually chose Sleipnir as his steed.
One of the most popular tales involving Loki gets its namesake from the god, the Lokkasenna.
Loki ends up punished by the Aesir for either killing Baldr or for the events that take place in Lokkasenna. He is bound in a cave by the intestines of one of his offspring, his son Nari is turned into a wolf, and a venomous snake is placed above his head and drips venom into his eyes. Sigyn holds a shell above his head to protect him from the venom but every so often needs to empty the shell and the venom drips into his eyes once more.
In myth, it is said that Ragnarök will begin when Loki breaks free from his bondage.
Loki has been conflated with Lugh, the Irish deity due to their similar prankster and chaotic nature as well as the slight similarity of their names.
Modern Deity Work
There is no evidence that Loki had a cult or large following until modern times, so many of these correspondences, offerings, etc are going to be based on Loki’s mythology and current Lokeans’ posts.

Fenris isn’t “evil” or “bad” he’s like for me a father figure and he helps those in need of expressing their emotions/especially hurt, anger, trauma. He’s helps with your pain you have been holding on to for so long and teaches you ways to release it. He’s a great first deity to work with since I started witchcraft about 2 years ago. And I’m so happy to have him in my life and work with him.

Jörmungandr Guide
I've been posting a bit about the World Serpent and figured I should make a whole guide on him. Jörmungandr was the second deity that I began working with. And as he is a being with little information, despite having a major role in Norse myth, I find it difficult to easily devote myself to him so here's some advice for others! (Note: Most of the offerings and associations are UPG. This is what I have learned from my experience with Jörmungandr.)
Tumblr media
Name: Jörmungandr (Yor-Mun-Gan-Dur). "jǫrmun" means "vast" or "immense". "gandr" is a little uncertain in definition but generally understood to mean "magic", "wand", or "beast".
Other Names: "Miðgarðsormr" meaning "World Serpent" or "Midgard Serpent". In Skaldic poetry, he can be seen as being referred to with some variation of "Reistr Jarðar" meaning "earth-twist" or "earth-curl".
Family:
Father: Loki, The Trickster God
Mother: Angrboða, Mother of Monsters
Brother: Fenrir, He Who Dwells in the Marshes
Sister: Hel, Goddess of Death
Main Myths: Thor lifting Jörmungandr disguised as a cat, Thor's fishing trip, Ragnarök
Common Misconception: Jörmungandr is neither evil nor the cause of Ragnarök. Jörmungandr is a neutral being who is the personification of rebirth and change. He is a warning of Ragnarök beginning, not the reason. Ragnarök is a fated event, always meant to happen. It's important to note that Ragnarök is not the END but the end of the world that WE know. In the myths, there are deities, like both Odin and Thor's children, who survive and begin anew in the new world which will be repopulated. Rebirth is core to Jörmungandr and it should be noted in his myths, besides Ragnarök, it is Thor who finds Jörmungandr. Jörmungandr is described to be an ouroboros who remains wrapped around Midgard, minding his own.
Past this will be UPG(Unverified Personal Gnosis) unless marked with an *, in which case, these symbols are mentioned in his myths.
Personality: Personally, in my presence, Jörmungandr is a very intimidating being. Not because he is purposely trying to scare those who interact with him, but because he is very firm and can be distant in his words. Very forward in his wants for you, he provides advice and doesn't demand anything in turn. Jörmungandr is not one who holds your hand to guide you. He is very much a being who wants to see you take charge in life. He cares less for physical offerings and more devotional acts that are beneficial to yourself. He wants your pursuit of change, your ambitions to thrive, your pursuit of life in general. While other deities may provide a familial bond with those who work with them, Jörmungandr is very much a stoic mentor who is waiting for you to show your efforts.
What you may learn with Jörmungandr: How to set and enforce boundaries, how to be comfortable with change, how to accept change and move on, self-confidence, self-care, how to take charge of your life, learn shadow work, learn ocean magick, learn runes, healing past traumas

►Backstory:
Formerly a member of the Valkyrie sisterhood, Sigyn once held the title of the 8th Valkyrie and goddess of victory. Same goes for the goddess Freya of love and war, who used to be the 6th Valkyrie before she was killed during the attack of the giants.
Who then later to the public was revealed to be the actual mother of Sigyn and related to Hrist, though it's never specified in what way.
However, Sigyn has since devoted her loyalty to her husband and wife, Loki and Angrboda. Which means she gave up her titles and retired, eventually replaced by someone else to start a family.
Odin himself had forced her to choose between these two opinions and it was obvious what she choose.
