When somebody tells you that a certain view of a deity or certain method of practice is wrong or historically isnt relevant you should always remember that modern paganism is NOT ancient paganism. The beauty of paganism is that it changes very easily throughout time, it changes from household to household. It's very difficult to assume exactly what ancient people believed in, particularly because those beliefs changed rapidly over time and geographical location even within the same civilization.
So do what you like, take history as a guide if it helps, learn from it and love it, but try not to think of it as gospel, it's just the way things were at one point and it's ok if they're different now.

Hello! Any advice or suggestions for prayers or offerings to ask Lord Apollon for healing or temporary relief from pain? (ie period cramps, joint pain) have a wonderful day/night! <3
Hey there!! I hope you're doing okay <3 I totally understand needing some help with chronic pain and such. I have chronic migraines, and sometimes I pray to Apollon and give him offerings, as well!
For me, I do the offering part after the chronic pain goes away. When the pain hits, it's hard to move to be honest. So, most of the time, I'll pray and promise an offering later!
I've looked around a lot for any specific prayers to do with chronic pain, healing, etc, and I can't find like, anything. Sooo instead of giving you a real prayer, ima give you some tips!
1- The structure of a Greek prayer is invocation, argument, petition. The invocation part is basically calling out to the deity, using their name and any specific epithets/qualities you want to address. So for Apollon and healing, you'd use Apollon's epithets for his healing aspect. The argument is just justifying why the deity should help you. For example, "If I have ever offered you (example), set up an altar," and any other thing you've done for him. The petition is what you're asking for. Here is where you'd say, "Please help me with my joint pain," or something to do with healing.
2- For me, prayer is laid back. I use formal prayer a lot, don't get me wrong, but I also just talk to my deities. Apollon is completely fine if you just say- "Apollon, I need help. Please can you make this stop/go away?"
3- it's also totally okay to write down the prayer and read it! You don't have to memorize anything.
4- if you're in pain, you don't have to do the whole posture thing when praying. The gods understand, I promise :)
As for offerings, anything you usually give him is fine! Once you receive your answer from the prayer (hopefully the pain goes away!!!), you can give him anything from water to jewelry to crystals to whatever else. You can also do a devotional act in honor of him! It really does not matter what *kind* of offering it is, as long as it's an offering made with good intentions.
I hope this helps!! Take care of yourselves 🫶

THE BASICS OF LEARNING MAGIC
Tumblr media
If you want to learn magic but aren't sure where to start, this post will cover what I consider to be the basics of what you should research.
Eventually, most or all of these will be links to posts we make, this is still a work in progress!
Some of these things are considered essential, while others are more optional. I have put things fundamental for safety at the top of the list, as they should be researched first.
This list may be updated as I think of more to add, but I consider this a good starting point for now.

a needed reminder:
it is okay to say no. it is okay to rest. do not feel guilty for it. it is not selfish to put your needs first. relax your shoulders. take your medicine. eat something. big or small and it will help your meds go down easier. breathe in slowly and exhale. it is going to be okay. drink water or something you have. wash your hands if taking a shower is too much right now. you are not defined by what other people say. you do belong here and you are loved. do not feel guilty for choosing yourself. your own happiness matters the most.

Mabon apple pie recipe
In celebration of Mabon next week, I am sharing my favorite apple pie recipe. I chose to share this a week in advance so that those who want to make it can prepare the ingredients. All ingredients can be plant-based, for those who are vegan the egg is not necessary (you may need to add a little more butter)
Witchy tips during baking:
Mix clockwise and say your intentions for the cake out loud, this could be "I welcome abundance into my life with open arms.", "I embrace the blessings of the harvest and celebrate the abundance it brings." or if you plan to share the pie with friends and family: "May this pie nurture the bonds of love and friendship among us."
When you sprinkle the spices into the cake, do this clockwise and say each correspondence out loud as you do this: Cinnamon: for love, and warmth Cardamom: for attraction and harmony Nutmeg: for prosperity and luck
Carve sigils of choice in the bottom of the pie before adding the filling.
Ingredients For the dough: 500 grams plain flour 1 sachet (15 grams) baking powder 150 grams of white caster sugar 50 grams of light brown caster sugar 150 grams of melted butter 1 egg Pinch of cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg
For the filling: 1-1.5 kilos of apples 100 grams soaked and patted dry raisins (optional!) 1 tablespoon cinnamon (or more, until all apples are nicely coated)
To brush the dough before it goes into the oven: To give the cake a beautiful golden color, I recommend brushing the cake with 1 beaten egg OR a dash of milk of your choice before putting it in the oven.
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees celcius (374 F)
Peel and cut the apples into wedges, sprinkle with the cinnamon and the raisins that you have pre-soaked and patted dry.
Mix all the ingredients for the dough together until it becomes a crumbly dough (it should be able to stick together and not be too dry, if this is the case I recommend adding more butter to the dough!)
Grease a baking tin with butter or oil and line the bottom with baking paper.
Divide the prepared dough into 3 parts, and put 1 part over the bottom. Press this with your hands or a spoon with a little flour on it so that the dough does not stick.
Then take 1 more part of the divided dough and press it onto the edges around the baking tin. You can roll this out with a rolling pin and cut it to size, I think this takes too long so I just press the dough along the edges (about 0.5 cm thick)
Put the apple filling in the pie and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle the last remaining part of the made dough over the pie to get an apple crumble pie, if you want a lattice top: make a ball of the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin. Cut strips from the dough that are 1.5 cm wide and long enough to cover the pie. If you are making a lattice top, brush it with egg OR milk of your choice to give it a nice golden glow. If you have a crumb top this is not necessary.
Bake the pie for 40-50 minutes, but keep an eye on the pie because every oven is different! You know the pie is ready when you insert a toothpick or skewer into it and the apples can be pierced and the dough does not remain wet around the stick.
Let the pie cool down for fifteen minutes before removing it from the baking tin.

I’m thankful for Hermes and travel, and I feel him when I drive, or am at the farmers market.
I’m grateful for Apollo and music, philosophy and how he shines through each rhythm and beat in the music I listen to.
I’m appreciative of Artemis and the independence she brings me, strength and the courage that passes through when standing up for what I believe in. The connection with wildlife and instincts, the empowerment I feel from her as a woman, all of it I owe to her.
The Gods look at us worshippers and smile, knowing they are treasured.

☀️Deities☀️
I see so many people criticizing others over their relationships, or lack thereof, with their deities, so here are some reminders:
Not having deities is okay.
Having just a devotional relationship with your deities is okay.
Having a working relationship with your deities is okay.
Playing games with your deities is okay.
Harmless jokes with your deities are okay.
Doing fun things with your deities is okay.
Doing devotional offerings for your deities is okay.
Giving physical offerings to your deities is okay.
Not being able to do certain offerings for deities is okay.
Having an altar for your deities is okay, no matter the size.
Not having an altar for your deities is okay.
Laughing with your deities is okay.
Crying with your deities is okay.
Having genuine conversations with your deities is okay.
Being unable to hear/see deities is okay.
Being able to hear/see deities is okay.
Not being able to communicate through divination is okay.
Using divination as a key element in communication is okay.
Not calling on deities during spellwork is okay.
Asking deities to help during spellwork is okay.
Asking deities for help in general is okay.
This is your relationship with your deities in your practice. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do. 🫶
It's 2am, please forgive me if there are any mistakes!

friendly reminder that the gods are not stagnant, they're not 2-dimensional, they're not simple. what they are is complex, complicated, and well- rounded beings. a lot of the time they're only viewed for their "good qualities" and what have you. i don't care if i sound like a broken record, acknowledge the divine are complex and inexplicable.

GROUNDING AND CENTERING
Tumblr media
grounding in a spiritual sense is the practice of connecting to the environment around you and releasing unwanted energies. centering is the act of clearing your mind to focus on the task at hand.
you may feel "out of balance" and unable to concentrate sometimes, this can be a sign that you need to practice grounding and centering. below i will list some ways to practice spiritual grounding and centering, but feel free to come up with your own ways as well!
note that the correspondences listed at the end are my personal correspondences, you may have different ones and thats okay!
GROUNDING AND CENTERING WITH BREATH
breathe in and out slowly, focus on the way that it feels. visualize (or alternatively, if you cant visualize, just think of) the unwanted energies and thoughts leaving you with each breath out and the thoughts of the task at hand coming in with each breath in
GROUNDING AND CENTERING WITH MEDITATION
try meditating and clearing your mind of all unwanted thoughts, focusing fully on whatever you need to be focused on. focus on the environment around you. what do you hear? what do you smell? what do you see, if your eyes are open? if you have trouble with meditation, there are guided ones online
GROUNDING AND CENTERING WITH VISUALIZING
try visualizing (or thinking about if you cant visualize) all the unwanted energies leaving you and you connecting fully to the environment. you can do this in many ways, but a common way is to visualize ( / think of) breathing out the energy for the release and roots connecting you to the ground for the connection. visualize ( / think of) the wanted thoughts and energies coming in
CRYSTALS FOR GROUNDING AND CENTERING
hematite
black tourmaline
smoky quartz
red jasper
carnelian
malachite
obsidian
fluorite

Mabon pumpkin soup
Today it is the autumn-equinox, so I decided to share an delicious warm pumpkin soup that you can make to celebrate this turn of the wheel!
Ingredients:
1 Pumpkin cut in pieces
3 Garlic cloves
1 Carrot
1 Onion
1,3L of vegetable broth
1 tbs of olive oil
* Toasted bread
*Pepper
Cut all the ingredients in pieces.
Fry the onion and garlic on medium fire in a big stockpot.
After sautéing the onion and garlic, turn the fire low and add the pumpkin in the pan. Slowly pour the vegetable broth in the stockpan en mix with a wooden spoon clockwise while saying:"As Mabon's magic fills the air, May abundance flow, and love be shared."
Let the soup simmer for 30 minutes until the pumpkin and carrots are mushy/or can easily be mushed when pressed on.
Turn the stove off, and place the pan on a wooden cutboard or cork pad, puree the soup until velvety smooth.
Toast some bread and sprinkle some pepper on the soup when served, enjoy!
Blessed Mabon
