OH. MY. GOD.
A horror anthology show created by Guillermo del Toro that’s full of practical effects and so many wonderfully talented actors?
Yes, please.
This looks incredible.
I cannot wait.

Look, as much as I love y’alls theories about “what if Freddie looks just like Nandor” I wonder if y’all know who’s playing Freddie. Do you folks know what Al Roberts looks like? Bc this is him (on the left obviously)
This man does not look like Nandor. I suppose with some clever styling they could make him look a little more like Nandor but based on some of the leaked photos with the pretzel guy (who I gather we are all assuming to be Freddie now) he looks the same to me.
It’s a fun idea, but I just don’t think it’s happening.

“The Autopsy” in Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities is my favorite episode for one reason besides the amazing cosmic horror. This episode is so very human. F. Murray Abraham’s performance as a kindly aged pathologist who has developed cancer but is performing a set of unusual autopsies as a favor for a friend, is one of the most human performances in the series. His character is older and accepts his future. He apologies to the bodies that he works on. He is likable, and when he is faced by a devastating alien threat, he responds with others in mind. This episode combines cosmic horror with human drama for a truly compelling episode. F. Murray Abraham strikes again.

Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities Review
Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities Review
Guillermo del Toro is a director and writer who likes to create weird or out-of-the-ordinary types of characters and stories. His early work Chronos, The Devil’s Backbone, and Pan’s Labyrinth are prime examples of this style. His last film Nightmare Alley is a little more straightforward. He gets back to the weird and out-of-the-ordinary stories and characters with the help of some relatively…

REview: Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022) | The Autopsy and The Outside
REview: Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (2022) | The Autopsy and The Outside
I thought the first two episodes of Cabinet of Curiosities were strong, but not outstanding. Don’t get me wrong, that’s not to imply that I didn’t like them on any level, though the first, Lot 36, didn’t quite come together as well as it could have.
And in doing so, while it didn’t spoil the sauce, it did sour it oh so slightly.
Though having seen The Autopsy and The Outside, all is forgiven…
