A Week in Altridi

In my last post I mentioned that this week will be something completely different. Well, I am following through with that as this past week I have been stationed in Altridi because, well, I don’t know! I’m fourteen, why would people tell me anything? I’m not complaining, don’t think that. Truth be told, Altridi is such an awesome place, but getting there is an absolute nightmare. Because of the magical restrictions, you have to first get permission from the Genies and let them know that you’re coming and when, then you have to meet them at the Dubai airport, then they take you to Sahara Desert Resort which takes up to 40 minutes, let the Genies do some talking, then get on a freaking camel and then follow them out in the desert for 4 and a half hours, and then you have to get off your camel and then the genie does thing where they stick the camel in the same place, then they lift the vanishing charm around the city, then you have to run through the gates like hecking fast then wait for another genie to escort you to the Genie Burrow whilst the other genie puts the camels somewhere. Among my party were Rory and her family, me, that’s literally it, just the six of us. This was a very long introduction my apologies.

Once I arrived at the burrow, I was shown to my room and I fell asleep for apparently 3 hours and would’ve slept longer if it wasn’t for Rory waking me up for dinner. Now, I just spent like 5 hours and 10 minutes travelling so I was a bit grumpy, and having such a small meal didn’t help.
Traditionally, Arab dinners are usually small, but like most Arab meals, it was a very social event that would be held with all the household; all night I was squished on a table with nine genies; one fortune teller; one siren; and four children, all six or under. Everyone knew each other and were all talking so I was just sitting on the edge next to Rory, not talking and wanting the sweet release of death.
I couldn’t even really eat. I felt a bit sick from the heat and the only dish available, Maqluba, was full of meat and yogurt. Maqluba is rice, meat, fried vegetables, and is often served with either a salad or yogurt. Luckily, the genies made a salad, but still. I was able to pick the meat out and just ate the rice, vegetables, and salad.
Throughout dinner, I was introduced to everyone and vice versa and let me tell you, Genies have no clue on how to introduce people. How simple would it have been to have all the genies organised by the colours of their outfits and just go from there? It would have been way better and easier to remember. Maeraka gave me once she saw how confused I was which makes my life better. I mean, she included relationships and family statues on the back as well?
The following dot points are each of the Genies and their titles.
Blue Female: Maeraka, Genie of Battle
Blue Male: Fawdaa, Genie of Chaos (I’m sorry, organized chaos)
Gold Female: Fan, Genie of The Arts
Gold Male: ‘Amana, Genie of Honesty (it’s so incredibly funny because he cannot tell a single lie and they can’t use him for undercover missions and according to my sources, everyone has slapped him at one point in his life)
Red Female: Hikma, Genie of Wisdom
Red Male: Eadala, Genie of Justice
Black Female: Almawt, Genie of Death
White Male: Haya, Genie of Life
Purple Female: Tharwa, Mystic of Altridi and Imam (basically lead prayer)
Purple Male: Aljania, Genie of Altridi and Imam (he’s the main bitch)
And then there was Filip, Ana, Hasna and this infant called Leilah who is the daughter of ‘Amana and Eadala. That brings it to a total of 3 gay Genies. I’m not complaining.
The rest of the day was unpacking and being introduced to some local fauna because news of my love of animals spread fast and apparently its normal to have an entire room filled with animals.

A four and a half camel ride and 35-minute car ride later; me, Fan, and Almawt arrived at the Dubai Mall. They decided that I should see the city of Dubai whilst I’m here. Apparently, a common tradition that when visiting the Genies, they make sure that you get the full experience by taking to these places in one day:
All the way up the Burj Khalifa
Dubai Mall
Mall of the Emirates
The Grand Mosque
Palm Jumeirah
Aquaventure Waterpark
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
Other cool things that they/you see along the way
Keep in mind that this was in summer, so I was the only one overheating whilst we were all running around to keep on schedule. What I found strange was that I was wearing a dress with thin stockings and flats whereas Almawt was covered head to toe in a niqab, and Fan was wearing a long-sleeved dress, hijab and thicc stockings and they both were fine,,, like how????

I went back to Dubai with Fan. This time she wanted to take me to various boutiques because I brought up how my mum really likes Dubai fashion and since I was in Dubai when it was my mum’s birthday, I decided that I should get her something from one of the luxury designer stores.
Fan took me to this store called BySymphony and there was this dress there that was really hecking pretty dress that I really hecking liked and even after going to like a million different luxury stores that Fan had discounts to (which is all of them and I will explain that later) and the dress that I got from BySymphony was this Reem Acra Off Shoulder Draped Mikado Ball Gown that is like this peachy colour. It cost like 19019.83 United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED), which is like 12041.8605 Citrine according to my converter…
This was also Monsieur Marion Stortz, Swiss Ambassador to the Vampire Confederation of Eoberona and husband of our favourite depressed, edgy, goth ballerina, Giselle Blanchard’s birthday so Fan and I went to Gucci (gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang) and got him the Black Leather belt with Double G buckle that cost 1754.39 AED or 1808.6495 Citrine.
So, Fan has a discount to pretty much every single luxury/designer store in Dubai because she is apparently a fashion designer and often gives stores designs and such that end up blowing up???
Apparently why the Genies allow this, is because it is sort of like drug front expect not really. Because the Genies use planes a lot to get from one place to another and host important people, they need it to seem like they don’t get that money illegally, because they can just conjure it up without having an actual job and if the Genies say that [Fan’s alias] is buying it or whatever and whenever the Genies go out, Fan always has to go with them because of this.
But like yeah, happy birthday Marion.

T’was a morning in Altridi and all through the town, not a creature was stirring, not even a rat, but little did they know, that beyond their magic wall, there were soldiers a-killing djinns, and hosting a brawl.
Okay, so legally I am not allowed to tell you what I did today, but I am, however, able to tell you that I kicked ass.

Firstly, happy birthday to my mum, secondly, I just found out that you can actually teleport to just outside Altridi instead of riding camels everywhere.
The reason why no one told me this was because apparently “I deserve the full experience instead of just magic all the time” mcuse me, binch?
Anyway, so I arrived back at Eoberona with Aurora, Maeraka, their kiddos, and Fan, right after lunch, just in time for my mum’s lunch break; I was able to surprise her with both coming home earlier than expected and then deliver the dress.
This week was extremely uneventful so I’m just gonna end this here because therest of the weekend I was helping my mum with work
