Hi!! First of all, I have to say that I loved the episode because Buck is an amazing character and Oliver was incredible as an actor.

But not gonna lie, I’m a little bit disappointed (probably my own fault, too much fics consumed…haha!) about how they handled the Eddie content… I know he was affected for the chance of losing Buck, but at the same time, it felt like something was missing (don’t know if I’m explaining myself correctly)

What I’m trying to say is that at this point, I cannot really see buddie being canon, not because another love interest is going to appear or something like that, just because I think the show runners are not brave enough to do it.

Sorry for bothering you with the message, not my intention to annoy anyone with my pessimism. Maybe I’m just tired after a 24h shift and tomorrow I will see things differently ;)

Oliver was phenomenal!

I loved this episode for him! He was so good!!

I think, even if we didn't read and write fics, we would have still been disappointed.

Because in other shows, the focus is on the reaction of the people most close to you on a daily basis, (for those who watch Chicago Fire, and Station 19 and similar shows, all those characters have families, some closer than others, but the focus is often on the reaction of the people inside the firehouse, of those closest to them.) They don't outsource the drama to random characters unless there is a fundamental reason for it.

Like Vic's parents restaurant set on fire, or Travis' father being closeted gay who cheats on Montgomery's mom.

Or Casey's mother sprung out of jail in Chicago Fire, or Severide's dad showing up to stir the pot and Severide trying his damnedest to not be his old man.

There is a reason, but the injuries, the worry, the angst, the aftermath is always told from how it affects the firehouse and its people, the chosen family.

Vic recuperate with her boyfriend and her best friend, Andy helped Gibson through his hard time.

In Chicago Fire, Casey and Severide roomed together on two different occasions, helping each other through hard times.

So, really, it's not just the buddie thing. It's the firehouse and chosen family thing.

The showrunners, they lack conviction, they're waffling, and I think that's what gets us.

Because if it were two women, no one would have thought twice about getting them together.

Here, there is some psychological barrier that prevents the showrunners from following through on what they got rolling.

And I get the frustration and the crisis of faith, because it's all fucking there, but no one has the pair to make a definitive decision.

I'm waiting to see what comes next, I haven't lost hope in buddie yet, but something better give soon because it is kinda getting ridiculous.

just finished episode one. i'm not particularly attached to brands, or easter eggs, or anything like that. i'm used to carving out my own fun from games most people wouldn't find particularly good. i'm not the sort of person who gets a kick out of a reference because i happen to recognize it. that is to say, i went into the show open-minded, but i think understandably cynical giving the current climate of media and streaming. i think video game adaptations are going to be the next big thing, and that we're going to get sick of them. i'm telling you all this preamble to make the point that i am extremely willing to not like it

I can't help thinking about how the casting of Be My Favourite, which at first (and second after the recast) felt so odd, could actually be very cleverly intentional.

When the first trailer was presented at GMMTV Live 2022 we all collectively lost our shit at the casting of Krist and Mike. Not only for the backlash Krist (potentially wrongly) received after SOTUS but also for pairing him with Mike. Two actors who had been in bl pairs before but not for a while and who weren't predicted to do any again soon.

But then Mike got replaced (for whatever reason), and by yet another person who no one saw coming, Gawin. Again, an actor not shy of a few bl pairings but who hadn't lead a show yet and who seemed pretty reserved and not the obvious choice to do another bl.

And looking at Krist/Kawi and Gawin/Pisaeng sat together at the end of ep 7, it hit me that they don't seem like an obvious paring.

And they're really not. They've not even worked together on a series before (as far as I could see on mdl) let alone built up a friendship/relationship on the 'promotional circuit' compared to other newer pairings (I'm thinking Ohm/Nanon before Bad Buddy, or Perth/Chimon going into Never Let Me Go and now Dangerous Romance, who it's easy to picture together from the get go.) And also compare this to Krist and Aye, who have worked together in three other series prior to filming Be My Favourite - and recently too.

So it feels like the show wants us to see the Kawi/Pearmai pairing as the obvious one - just as Kawi does.

It wants us to see the Kawi/Pisaeng pairing as a little odd, or unimaginable - just as Kawi did (and is kidding himself that he still does).

And I love that because, as it's taking time for Kawi (and Pisaeng) to get used to the idea of them as a couple, we also get to do the same thing at the same time.

Their pairing is growing for us as it's growing for them.

And in some ways it's making me feel closer to their journey.

Meaningful Highlights from Sasuke Retsuden:

When Sasuke interrupts his own reconnaissance to untie a fellow prisoner who's being bullied, putting his mission in jeopardy to help a stranger.

When Sasuke is struggling to stand and falls backward into Sakura's arms and she catches him, the same way he caught her during the war arc: Without the strength left to even turn around, Sasuke fell backwards, and a familiar warmth caught him. “I got you, Sasuke.” It was Sakura’s voice.

Sasuke being so detailed-oriented with his friends and comrades that he knows their preferred method of picking a lock, and acknowledging he got his way from Kakashi: Kakashi often used the heat of Fire Style to melt the metal part. Shikamaru inserted a long, thin shadow into the keyhole to turn the cylinders. Naruto would make it move with a very small-scale bit of turbulence. Given that he excelled in Fire Style, Sasuke often followed Kakashi’s example and melted the lock itself.

Sasuke's narration putting how he feels about Sakura and how he copes with distance from her into words, both in narration and out loud: Even if they couldn’t always be together, the fact that Sakura was his wife and his family was never going to change. He was able to think like this thanks to a lesson from a good friend a long time ago. The most important thing was the bond they shared. He had a connection with Sakura that not even distance could touch. Even if he couldn’t see her every day, she was his precious partner.

The revelation that Sasuke was waiting for pink blossoms on a tree to bloom because he missed Sakura: “He used to sit here and stare out the window all the time. But he hasn’t been doing that lately. Not since you came. I always wondered what it was he was looking at, but now, I finally get it. He was wondering when that tree was going to bloom.”

Sakura being literally crushed in the crumbling foundations of a building but still being so selfless that she is concerned about not causing rockfall on someone else, and wishing she could be there to defend the prisoners. And, at the same time, Sasuke desperately manually digging through rubble to pull Sakura out, and being the one to heal her.
