Ranking the Mom's of the 40 Characters!

S Tier:

Tamako Yukihira - Taught her son that making mistakes is part of success, introduced her son to a new passion for cooking, etc. Cool Mom points for sure.

Rachel Phantomhive - Even she had asthma, she tried her best for her family while she alive. Took care of her children, disciplined them when needed, and took joy when her sister played with them when she couldn't. She was even there for sister when her husband died and tried her best to cheer her up.

Hiroko Kastuki - She's a caring and supportive Mom. AND SHE'S ALIVE! S Tier for sure. :D

Hinata's Mom - Same as Katsuki's Mom. Caring and supportive. We like supportive Mom's in this household.

Nanako Hasegawa - Top Tier Mom, supportive of her son's passions and offered advice during his feed with Reki. She even asks for advice from her late husband's photo when it comes to her son, which shows how much the two mean to her.

Kie Kamado - Took care, supported, and raised of all her children while she was alive, so that counts for something, right? S Tier.

Kotoko Fujioka - Someone Haruhi tries to model after, so that counts for something.

Mitsuko Serinuma - Supportive and caring of her daughter and son, especially with Kae's biy troubles. She even supports her otaku's shenanigans without much of a fuss from what I've seen. Of course, she got worried when she locked herself in her room, though.

Senna - Cares for her child avatar or not. Supports her even though it sometimes means letting her go perform her duties as the Avatar, no matter how dangerous.

Trisha Eldric - CARED for her family and supported them even though she was mourning her husband all the while.

Sachiko Fujinuma - Known to be caring and dedicated to her son.

A Tier:

Ursa - Look, aprt from taking care of Zuko however she could, she was also part of how he remained strong after all those years and taught him that trying even though things get tough was a strength of his. But Azula. Enough said there. Plus, if you want to include the comics, then much more of a reason may be.

Inko Midoriya - She takes care of her son and supports his decisions even though it takes convincing sometimes, say how she wanted to keep him from U.A. that one time. Buuut, as much as it pains me, she did sort of unintentionally cause some issues to form in Deku the day he was prescribed as quirkless. So A Tier instead of S Tier.

Kurumi Saiki: Now, she's personally one of my favorites; she is part of why Kusuo rarely ever uses his powers for wrong reasons. BUT, she also sometimes fails to be an actual parent to both her children who were probably barely raised, if at all because of their fastmature news compared to her and Kuniharu. Not to say she didn't try, but considering Kusuke and Kusuo's sibling hood, Kurumi get A Tier. Still like her though.

Sukuyo Mankanshoku - Now correct me if I'm wrong, you guys (I wanna finish this fast, and I've hardly watched Kill La Kill before sorry), but she seems like a sweet mom. She takes care of her childern, discipline, and even makes meals fo Ryūko as if she wer her own. But she has shown to be a bit oblivious like Kurumi when it comes to the safety of her children, so that's probably one of the only reasons she's not in S Tier.

Kyoko Honda - Reeeeally wanted to give her S Tier, but even if she helped form Torhu moral compass and all that with her wisdom, she did go into a depressive state once her husband passed away leading her into neglecting Tohru and even considering suicide. So, A Tier is the least to do here.

Mrs. Kageyama - A little overworking and doesn't know that her son is hanging with Reagen of all people in all honesty(no offense to Reagen dudes), but supportive.

Kuchel Ackerman - Worked as a prostitute sooo... She cared for Levi, she did, but if only she reached out to someone to take care of him while she was getting sicker. Not saying it was without reason, but she unintentionally did leave her child to starve if it weren't Kenny. Well, I'm not giving her B Tier, but I'm not giving her D Tier either.

B Tier:

Maho Fujiwara - I didn't find much on her and I've never watched much of Love is War, but since she's diplomat, overprotective, and Chika barely mentions her, Imma say she tried her best, but could do better. Feel free to tell me if I should move her up or not.

C Tier:

Yugi/Hanako's Mother- Now I tried to research about her but... well after her son left, well she sort of-... Well, committed sewerslide. Yikes. She only gets D Tier because she didn't treat them like nothing while she took care of them.

D Tier:

Hiromi Shiota - Projected her desires onto her son by making him present as a girl so that he could live a life she wanted. Not very caring or nurturing if you ask me. Then again, she not F Tier.

Leano - Chose her appreance over Legoshi. If you know then you know.

F Tier:

Raygo: No. Just no. NO. (If you know then you know)

Isabella: Season 2 didn't do it for me, so she gets F Tier as she deserves.

Kikyo Zoldyck - Do I really need to explain this one? Do I REALLY need to explain this one? N-O.

Iruma's Mother - Yeah, if you read the first ranking of the Dad's, you know what she did. No S Tier for her.

Hello hi! Dw about seeming random, I'm certainly not complaining, I love talking about myself/my work. Thank you for liking capman reki! I'm really proud of it! And someone actually sent an ask about Rinne's partner a few days ago which is in my drafts now, I have to go post that

Anyway system update is, regretfully, on pause while I 1) recover from capman reki au 2) try to read more enstars stories to understand the characters enough to write them (just because it's Aira centric doesn't mean I wanna totally mischaracterize someone's fave) and 3) devour some romance/fantasy in an effort to remember how to actually write romance/fantasy. Not to say I'm not thinking about it and don't have ideas, I just haven't written anything especially concrete for it.

[scratches head] I guess I can talk a little bit about Rinne tho since I meant to talk about what he's doing anyway. There is a tidbit of a thing I did the other day:

It’s not like Rinne likes everything he’s done and will do. Messing with the heads of those high and mighty mages is fun, but the rest is necessary evil. He definitely never wanted to kill kids, especially not kids his brother likes, but he doesn’t have time to deal with regrets—or, he does, but there’s only so much he can waste. He has a goal and he’s already decided to see it through to the end, no matter what it takes. He's come too far. He’ll bear with the consequences after. “Ai-chan needs to go.” Hiiro will never smile at him like that again.

Rinne, Rinne, Rinne. Surprising absolutely no one, his goal as the villain is to destroy society completely and absolutely. Because what else would he do honestly. Translating idols -> mages, you can expect his backstory to be basically the same, except now with twice the magic and murder! (Isn't it so weird that enstars is an idol game but I have to say that this AU comes with more magic and murder than usual?) And of course Crazy:B is also with him. All of them have ~secret identities~ because I need them to move around without drawing suspicion as The Guys Who Tried To Murder Trickstar Last Week (or whatever it is they do in their first villain appearance idk).

I'm not sure what else I can say about him. Uhhh oh his super special exclusive magic is called Roulette because I'm unoriginal like that, he gets a new special magic every time he uses it but naturally he has no control over what it is. Sometimes it's awesome. Mostly it's stupid shit. He and Niki have argued extensively over whether the food ingredient identification magic is cool or not.

Adam: I thought it could be a little fun, but as I expected, Cherry’s just boring. I’m going to kill this man in his sleep.

It’s really interesting how you can tell Cherry is a beloved member of S. Like, the S gallery, some of Adam biggest enablers are either shocked silent, crying, and muttering about how far Adam went.

Miya shouldn’t have seen that happen, god.

Langa: *Sees Cherry almost die* So, where’s Reki?

Sk8: Here’s Tadashi’s and Ainosuke’s past! Me: *Still reeling over what happened to Cherry* Yeah, I really don’t care.

Tadashi, darling, none of this is your fault.  You were a kind child who saw an abused child and decided to give him some happiness and affection. It’s not your fault that the Shindos are classist; it’s not your fault that Ainosuke started to hurt people, and frankly, this isn’t your mess to clean up either.

Honestly? Yes, take skating away from Ainosuke, let’s find him another hobby that make it more difficult to assault people and harrass minors. I hear crochet is really popular.

I love that the group cares so much for each other. Reki feels like utter shit, but he hauls ass to the hospital as soon as he learned Shadow was injured.

Another reason I wish Sk8 was longer so we could get a full reconciliation for Reki and Miya.

Tadashi, sweetie, how often do you run people over that you immediately think to take them to a love hotel and have money on hand to bride them with?

Tadashi: Is this your first time? In a place like this? Well I sure fucking hope so.

I love how you can immediately understand Tadashi’s words about skateboarding are because of the Shindo’s conditioning.

Reki’s speech about skateboarding is wonderful, and I’m glad it got him out of his funk, but Tadashi, DO NOT let this seventeen year old boy convince you to stop doing the right thing.

So, uhh, neither Tadashi nor Reki took that packet of money, so I’m assuming the maid for that room had a REALLY good day that day.

Heyo I finished SK8: The Infinity! I have thoughts! (Spoilers below the cut)

Right off the bat- what a series! I can’t believe I went so long without watching it- it made me laugh and cry and squeal and flail and all the good things!

Favorite character by far is Langa. I just love him so much! Not only does he look absolutely amazing while skating, but his personality and character really shine! He and Reki’s relationship is so grand, their bond is truly special!

And let’s not forget about said redhead! Reki is by far one of the coolest characters I’ve witnessed! I love how creative he is in the way he designs boards and how passionate he is about skating. I was sure there’d be a moment where he went the Makoto route and altered his path in life- but I’m honestly kinda glad he stuck it out? Only love for Makoto- I liked in Free how he found a way to love swimming through different lenses. That said, Reki just loves to skate period- and I like that he didn’t give up on his passion for the sport and came to terms on who he was.

Joe and Cherry- the bickering husbands: GAH! I can never get enough- they are comedy gold! I adore their relationship as well and their history: also that moment where Adam slipped in rain and Cherry laughed his ass off? *cluches chest* beautiful.

Miya and Shadow are also incredible! I love how Shadow is so passionate in the skating world but acts so meek in his day job. He’s an absolute cutie and deserves the world. And Miya- my child! Such a sweet kid! Despite his bratty presentation, he’s a really good kid and deserves only happiness.

Adam…eh. For 90% of the show anytime I felt nauseated. Not only for his relentless flirting with Langa and other kids alike- but his incredibly toxic views of love. I understand that’s due to family trauma, but still; that’s not an excuse to constantly abuse everyone around you.

Scratch that- the man straight up tried to KILL these kids. Like dude- they’re a pair of 17 year olds skateboarding for funsies; relax.

By the end of the show…yeah- still gross. I would sympathize more with him had he not randomly start trying to kill Reki and co. (The man just gave up making it look accidental- he was literally trying to grind him into ground beef against the wall in their race; put Cherry in the hospital after swinging his board into his face, and tried to do the same thing multiple times to Langa while skating an incredibly narrow path)

His theatrics and such are top tier- but it’s kinda like glitter. Pretty at first but slowly loses it’s appeal overtime. Eventually you just find it everywhere and it causes problems.

Loved the final race though- very Castlevania like!

So yeah- overall a great series! I loved how well written all the characters were and the music! Langa’s facial expressions live rent free in my head now and yeah- 10/10! 🥰🥰🥰

This was something I wrote for whumptober but i didn't really feel like it was long enough to be a proper entry on ao3 so im posting it here lol. it was for the dazed and confused alt prompt lmao

There were hands on his face, gently cupping his cheeks. Reki couldn’t quite see who it was, vision too blurry, but couldn’t stop himself from leaning into the touch. They were warm – like furnace warm – and Reki felt like laughing at the realisation that one hand was probably the width of his entire face.

The figure in front of him was speaking, but his entire head felt like it had been dunked underwater, all sound being muffled to such a degree that he couldn’t properly hear anything. Was there supposed to be a ringing?

This was just like that time where he got tinnitus as a child, except somehow worse? He could still remember when he first told his mum, and she was so confused why he was yelling until she took him to the hospital.

The hands gently slapped his face, bringing his attention back down from the sky. He hadn’t even realised he looked up; at some point, his vision was filled with the deep, deep blue of the night sky, the stars gently flickering on and off. They had looked larger than usual, and blurrier…? Maybe he should go to the eye-doctor or something.

More slaps – he had ended up looking back at the sky.

He tried his hardest to focus on the person in front, only managing to parse out a big green blob before his eyes gave up on him. They tried speaking to him again, and Reki winced internally that he wasn’t able to answer. He tried humming in lieu of a response, but for some reason it came out garbled and wet.

Gaze falling down to his lap – head suddenly feeling so much heavier than it had done before. He could see the bright yellow of his hoodie, stained dark with… something. There was a word for it, but his head was so muddled.

Warm hands lifted his head again, and another person came up besides the green blob. They were pink this time; briefly, Reki wanted to touch it – it looked like bubble-gum or something. The second one knelt down in front of him and shined a light in his eye.

It was only for a few seconds, and Reki shut his eyes almost immediately. They said something, before giving up just as quickly and moving hands to his mouth. They were smaller than the green one’s, but very gently. They pried his jaw open, moving the light to it. Was something wrong with his mouth or something? Now that he was thinking about it… it hurt.

It hurt quite a bit actually.

Why was it hurting? Did he bail hard or something? Shit, he did, didn’t he? Mum was so going to kill him when he got home, or she might kill him when she got a call from the hospital at fuck o’clock in the morning. Maybe he should just go home; he’s had worse injuries than a broken jaw. He’ll just need to be extra careful when eating food.

“..ey, you…ere?” A deep voice suddenly cut through the fog in his head. It didn’t make much sense, so Reki just nodded (something he found kind of hard when there were hands in his mouth, but what else was he supposed to do).

“…pid… rilla… he’s… cussed,” The pink blob turned to the green one, seeming exasperated. They removed their hands from his mouth, pulling something out of nowhere, “…needs…spital.”

‘No Hospital,’ was what he wanted to say, but all he ended up doing was coughing up a bit of blood.

His head lolled back down, and he felt himself drift away for a little bit. Each blink got heavier and heavier. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to doze off…

Two hands grabbed his shoulders. There were still a pair on his face, and the pink one had stepped back for a bit, talking on his phone (his brain clocked it, so it was still functioning at least). He tried to look up, to see who was grabbing him, but his head felt like it was being dragged down by a hundred rocks.

There was a gentle shushing sound, and then a soft voice right next to his ear, “Need to… wake…eki.”

The hands squeeze gently, waking him up but only for a moment before dropping his head again. There was another squeeze, but it didn’t work, and all Reki could think about was how pissed his mum was going to be.

"I know you're worried," Langa said slowly, looking at Reki and Kojiro for help. "You don't need to be."

You scoffed, leg shaking rapidly against the stool you sat on. "What?" You laughed, Reki chuckling nervously when the orange you were squeezing trickled out with juice. "I'm not worried at all, it's just Adam you know, just a guy who's fine with assaulting people, no biggie."

Reki steps up after the orange falls from your hands, picking up the watery fruit before throwing an arm around you. "You know Langa's going to be fine, Y/n. Adam's obsessed with him, he wouldn't kill him."

The playful tone Reki gives doesn't help calm your anxiety, if anything it made it worse from the way he said obsessed. "You're not helping."

He gives a tight-lipped smile, nodding his head as he steps back the moment Kojiro stepped forward with a sigh.

"Let a pro handle this," he says confidently, placing his hands on your shoulders. "We know you're worried, Y/n, you have every right to be after what you've been through. But you know these guys, they're smart when it comes to skating. Everything else? Not so much." Reki tries to protest the blatant insult but doesn't when you chuckle.

"Langa will be fine," he says again, patting your face. "If not I'll buy you food the rest of the week." Langa and Reki deadpan at the gamble.

"Hey." Your head turns to the dope sketch entrance, seeing Kaoru, Miya, and Hiromi lurking in the front. "Let's go."

Kojiro leads you by your shoulders, walking you towards his bike while the others go towards the car. Reki waves enthusiastically before he climbs into the trunk, hoping the small action will calm your nerves more.

"You'll be okay, right?" Kojiro asks one final time, hesitantly handing you a helmet. "You don't have to go."

"I'll be fine." You answer, "As bad as it sounds, I have more faith in Langa getting by without harm than I do Reki."

"Yeah," Kojiro sighs, a small smile on his face. "Don't let Reki hear that one."

A small laugh, genuine and all, falls from your lips, dissolving all (some) of the worry that built-in Kojiro's head.

At the gates, there's a backup of cars as the guards redirect people away from the main entrance, shouting out directions and why the normal route was closed.

There's a sudden drop in your stomach when you reach the substitute route, vile rising to your throat as the large screen displayed images of the course.

"This has to be a joke, right?" You asked, blindly reaching for Reki's hand, gripping it tightly when he grabbed hold. "This course is an actual death trap."

"It's the course from the earlier days of S," Kaoru says, "It was too dangerous so it was banned."

"Rise of the dead." You mumble under your breath, rubbing your thumb over Reki's knuckles. "Those spikes are no joke." You huffed.

Reki's lips part at your words, looking back at the other four before pulling you close to him. "Is that how you got that scar?"

You shake your head, "Factory. This is the course I did against Adam when he was perfecting the love hug." He hums, watching you pull your shirt down subconsciously. "Anyways."

He opens his mouth to say something else but gets cut off by the loud cheers surrounding him, the race has started.

It's hard to watch Langa struggle to push himself to go faster, that all efforts to pass Adam go wasted. Reki found it hard to believe, mouth falling agape when Langa lost the battle in mid-air.

"Never thought I'd see someone get more air than him," Reki mumbles, making light of the situation. "It's weird."

"Adam's been perfecting his skills since he was a kid." You murmured, "It's no surprise he's got everything down to a tee." Reki makes a noise of agreement.

The two pick up speed from there on out, never slowing down, not at corners, or spikes. Adam pulled further ahead when they reached a cave, Adam lining the top to make a multitude of spikes fall.

A shiver runs down your spine when Adam slams his foot on his board to make it break, revealing a cross-shaped deck. Your eyes fixate on Langa's expression when it pans to him, furrowing your brows when he looks out of it.

"New interval record has been achieved."

Carla's robotic voice pulled your attention away from the screen, looking back at Kaoru. "Y/n, you know."

You nod as you turn back, gulping when the camera goes to a bird's eye. "The zone."

Reki looks at Kaoru before you, tilting his head and tugging on your hand to make you look at him. "The zone?" He echoed, confusion laced in his tone.

"It's a state of total concentration," you explained, keeping your eyes set on the ground. "It's like being in a completely colorless room, with no way out."

Reki turns to Kaoru after your explanation, spluttering after he nods his head at him. "How can he— is he, how can he get out of it?"

"Don't ask me," Kaoru says, "Ask someone who's able to get in the zone."

Reki's hesitant when he turns to you, not out of denial or blatant doubt, but out of caution, he doesn't want to remind you of something bad.

"I don't know either," you respond after he doesn't say anything for a second. "All I know is it's a one-way trip if you're in the zone in this kind of place."

Panic settles further into Reki's body when Langa trips over a crack in the course, gripping your hand harshly and yelling at the screen.

It doesn't get better when Adam leads Langa onto a poorly made bridge hovering over a cliff. As Langa falls, there are murmurs from people who couldn't even process what was happening, and loud shouts from your friends just beside you.

There's a buzzing white noise that drowns out everything around you, your hand fell from Reki's grip the moment the boards crumbled beneath him. It's cold.

You shake your head, you're not the one who's about to die, or well maybe you shouldn't say that. Your head spins when the camera pans on Langa completely helpless.

Was he going to die? Just like that?

Why do I have such weird dreams when I take a nap. I just dreamt that all the sk8 characters were in this weird game that was kinda like among us meets hitman meets big brother where they were all forced to stay in this house and they didn't know they were being recorded/watched by Adam, but Adam had told all of them individually that they had a target to kill, but they couldn't get found by ANYONE and all of them had to keep up this facade of it being a nice fun getaway in this big house while they are all trying to grapple with either killing one of their friends or facing Adams wrath. And I remember Reki got Langa and he was so upset he didn't want to hurt his best friend, let alone kill him, so he tried to slip away and not get caught, but when he was out running in the middle of the empty street at night, Tadashi was just standing there and held up a picture of Langa and Reki was fucking terrified so he ran back to the house and tried to sneak back in, and he knocked over this vase or dish or wherever but it was ceramic and Langa wanted to try fix it with Reki and all that was going through Rekis mind was that they were alone and this would be the perfect time to take him out but he didn't want to do that and was disgusted with himself for even thinking that so he was just sweating while trying not to give away what he was thinking and then Langa got up to get some glue for Reki, but he stopped in the doorway.. Reki looked to see what had happened and it was Adam standing there just smiling creepily and handing him the glue and then he slowly closed the door and locked it. Reki was creeped out but he took the glue from Langa and started fixing the thing while Langa stood over him and watched, and he was almost done when he realised a large piece was missing, and he looked up to Langa who held it in his hand like a blade and realised what was about to happen. And then I woke up.

...you're taking what asuna says completely out of context. she doesn't say anything about kirito leaving her, she says she'd kill herself if he DIED.

kirito tries to kill himself because eugeo died. asuna said she'd kill herself if kirito died. knowing reki, i'd be willing to bed he planned that in advance to deliberately parallel their relationships lmao.

like, neither of those things are flawlessly healthy. but these are teenagers who have gone through so much trauma it quite literally broke them. i can give them some kind of pass for it, considering they're suicidal even outside of the context of those relationships.

if you don't like kirisuna that's fine. i'm not going to force you to ship them. but saying they're toxic because of something taken out of context (asuna saying she'd kill herself) and something that's just completely untrue (saying they don't spend time with their friends)... that's not going to magically make me ship yujikiri more.

okay, so here's the thing imo: there is a correct way to like ad*m, and that's thinking he's a great villain which he is. the issue is... okay so i'll just, explain.

the main thing about ad*m is that he's a brutal skater and enjoys hurting the people he skates with as he searches for his "eve", aka someone he thinks is worthy of skating with him. anyways, so he basically tried to murder cherry by smacking him across the head with his skateboard in the middle of a race. he tried to kill reki like five times while racing (and reki is seventeen, btw. ad*m is an adult) and even said "see, i've discovered your true nature, and i can put an end to it" and "take a breath, it'll be your last" AND "i'll finish you off in a flash". like... these are CLEAR threats of murder. oh and AFTER that final beef, he was prolly about to go and come at reki again and only stopped because langa stood in front of him and joe got in the way and said “stop it. the beef is already over". and you know WHY he wanted to kill reki? because langa (also seventeen) liked reki better than him. yup. that's right. he was basically in love with langa. who is a minor. he literally had CAMERAS following langa. like... :/

not to mention he played a role in shadow getting attacked because he didn't want to race him and he absolutely groomed miya for probably multiple years (miya is twelve btw) AND HE IS VERY MEAN TO JOE which like... objectively isn't the worst thing he's ever done, but let me tell you i have SO many headcanons about how he treated joe when they were teenagers because he was just as awful to joe as he was cherry just... in very different ways.

Episode 8: The Solitary Knight

The Cobalt Knights have become the Gestapo, tracking down a man for...wanting to fuck a Grunty, apparently. And the guy is modding is swords so he, along with others, get their accounts banned publicly (I wonder how much they were paying a month for this game...). It's a whole ass spectacle too with Kamui having them shot while they're strapped to a slot machine, saying only "luck" can save them.

It doesn't.

Shugo's group, sans Shugo, discuss how the Knights are bad news and Sanjuro even says Shugo is looking like their next target. The Twilight Bracelet is an unregistered item, after all. Shugo hears them though and isn't too happy about Sanjuro's suggestion to lay low considering the situation. Shugo just runs out and nearly drowns like the tool he is. The World's Greatest Hope, everyone.

Balmung is getting chewed out by his bosses who implicitly say they are ready to throw his ass out. Reki, who's there for some fucking reason, tries to reason with him but Balmung calls him out for being a buttfucking traitor who's buttfucking his ex. He leaves and Reki is somehow surprised by his reaction.

Shugo is killing monsters left and right while looking for a clue, his group keeping a clandestine eye on him. At the gate, he happens to be in the same area as the hackers who are promptly surprised with info that Rena has awakened somewhere. We check in on her who is still lost with Aura. One of the hackers manage to get to her location...

Now it's time for Kamui and Magi (finally). Turns out she arrested Kamiya, whose face has been corrupted worse than it was in the manga. He's under suspicion for nothing and Kamui interrogates him on Shugo when he slips up about him (far from his snitching in the manga...but not too far, considering he trades personal information about him without much prompting). Kamui recognizes Shugo from the last episode...and smiles.

Back to Rena! The hacker plays dumb, saying he doesn't know how he got there (but he totally does!). He informs the others that Rena is with Aura. Aura knows something is up but the hacker logs out before she can read his data. Aura can only tell Rena they are in the Japanese server so...that's not worth anything.

Shugo is accosted by the Knights for kidnapping his own sister (most likely bullshit fed to them by Kamui) only for him to be rescued by THE MOTHERFUCKING SILVER KNIGHT FROM .HACK SIGN!

(Glad that after being such a dick in that show he's chilled out for this one.)

Shugo scares them off with a Data Drain and everything is hunky dory.

The hackers are planning on fighting Aura by modding their points to be stronger.

And the whiplash stops with Silver Knight being arrested and publicly executed. All he says is that "Those who stand above others, must have noble ideals along with the most noble intentions; anyone that cannot manage the will of the masses is not meant to be the leader of the knights. That type of justice is a lie."

He shit talks them some more before he is promptly shot to death. Next, Balmung is called by his bosses so that they can bitch him out for searching for the missing players. It wasn't his assignment so he's bad for doing it. Anyway, he's fired. Kamui herself finds out and is only disappointed that she couldn't delete him herself due to his connection to Shugo. Turns out Reki sold him out himself despite his whole "oh, why don't you trust me, eskimo brother?" spiel earlier. Pay dispute, apparently.

Rena and Aura are preparing to leave only for Aura to suddenly fade away, no doubt the work of the hackers. Now Rena is alone...

THOUGHTS

Finally, a bearable episode. Reki has become a cunt but I expected that anyway. I like the shifting focuses so I don't get too sick of anyone too quick. Four episodes left, let's wrap it up.

You know, if Adam vented by dance skating in the rain more often, we might not have the problems we have now.

God the animation of Adam’s shadow as he dances is so fucking good.

Imagine being this poor fucking tailor man. It’s early in the morning, it’s a fucking monsoon raging outside, and then a lunatic in a matador costume bursts talking about making him a suit.

Kiriko’s search warrant and subsequent raid on the Shindo household was completely erased from the narrative. Like, she had the warrant and never used it?

Miya asking Shadow about his injuries when Cherry probably cracked his skull in at least two separate places, had an arm and leg in a cast, probably some- at least- cracked ribs, among other things. Listen, if the founders are actually gods you can go ahead and reveal that, but at least acknowledge that Cherry’s injuries were far worse than Shadows.

If season two never finishes up Cherry’s hangups with Adam I will riot.

Imagine going to S, seeing a whole ass tombstone at the finish line and not turning the fuck around to go home.

Honestly, I love Adam’s second costume more than his first, but actually imagine being Langa, walking all the way up there and seeing your opponent dressed like the grim reaper talking about it’s your day of departure.

The Zone is just Adam’s way to not feel any pain- something he’s experienced a lot of in life- as he completes his child murder suicide.

While I agree that adults can learn something from children. This 100% should not have been on Langa’s shoulder (thought narratively I understand why it was).

Adam says friends will ultimately betray you, flashing back to the “I have no opinions” scene (which lol ok), but we never get a scene from where Cherry and Joe supposedly betrayed him, showing that that they never did and that Adam left them first.

Adam: Nobody understands me! They never could! No one in this world can read minds. You actually have to tell your loved ones what’s going on with you. And also, Cherry’s repeated asked you what was wrong and you tried to kill him.

You know, in previous episodes, when someone got knocked down, it was an immediate win for their opponent. But when Langa gets up from him and Adam knocking each other down, and Adam was still struggling on the ground, the match is still on. Bullshit.

This show is trying to make me feel for this man, but it’s just not possible. Like, yay, you remembered the fun you used to have with the guy you treat like shit. Good for you.

Adam almost killed Kaoru, Hiromi, Miya, Carla, and Sketchy with that parachute.

Tadashi as his boss goes to sexually harass a minor again: UWU

I want Koyomi to attend S in season 2.

Don’t worry shadow, they weren’t shown kissing, that could just be her brother or cousin for all you know!

The end scene tries to play Adam letting Tadashi believe he was going to go to jail for weeks as a positive “aw, he cares” scene, but Tadashi really believed that his life was over and Ainosuke is just like “Yeah, no, you’re stuck with me, dog.” Like, that’s a fucking threat coming from this man.

“You’ll be my dog for the rest of our lives.” Listen, have a pet kink if you want fandom. This is still an abusive relationship between a boss and his subordinate. Adam signs his paycheck, owns the house he lives, and could literally do anything he wanted to him. This is not sexy.

Summary: Songfic inspired by "The Haunting" by Set It Off. Chapter 2: After Reki leaves, Adam and Langa have a not-so-nice chat about the past.

Part 1

The punch passed through the man, pressing into the cushions that lined the back of the chair.

“Oh dear, Langa. Have you forgotten already?” Adam’s own hands reached out to cup Langa’s face. But there was no pressure from his fingers, no warmth from his skin, no sensation of anything at all. And the eyes that stared at him blazed with the very fires of Hell itself.

“We can’t touch each other anymore. Because. You. Killed. Me.”

He enunciated each word clearly, each one stabbing into Langa. That was right: that was why they were here. Why he was here. As much as he tried to remember, sometimes Adam was still too real, even after all this time.

Then again, it was also the only thing that had kept him out of prison.

"Why do you have to do that every time?" he demanded, wrenching himself away from those intangible fingers and stumbling to his feet, glaring at the ghost. "Are you still jealous of him? Even though we spend all of our time together? Can't I have at least one friend without you driving them away?"

But Adam laughed, the sound cruel as he languidly rose from the couch as well, pursuing Langa as the young man backed away. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw several orderlies approaching him cautiously, and he took in a deep breath, trying to calm down before they decided to sedate him.

"Do you think a murderer deserves happiness, Langa? After you stole that chance from me? Besides, have you considered that maybe this is what you want? I'm not real: your brain created me. Because of guilt, maybe. Or to escape reality. Or perhaps you couldn't let go of me. Either way, maybe I'm only saying what you want to hear. Showing you what you want to see."

He reached out, resting his forearms on Langa's shoulders as he smiled seductively. And then he leaned forward, whispering into Langa's ear.

"It felt so good when you penetrated me."

And Langa remembered that fateful moment when all of their futures had changed.

"My beloved Snow! A secret tryst before our wedding? How scandalous!"

“You know why I’m here.”

“Do I? Please enlighten me.” Adam spun around him, as graceful as always despite the cape that might have tripped up anyone else. And then he caught Langa’s hip in his hand, twisting around so that they were pressed chest-to-chest, gazing into each other’s eyes. Langa ignored it: he was already used to the way Adam acted.

“I want you to leave Reki alone.” He’d seen the way the man had looked at his friend after their second race. If it hadn't been for Joe stepping in, his friend might have ended up in the hospital again. Of course, it was normal to get hurt during a race—and against Adam, badly—but their race had already ended. What Adam had wanted to do was as bad as the man who'd necessitated Reki's racing in the first place.

“Oh? And why would I do that?”

“I’m skating with you. Isn’t that enough?”

“This is this and that is that. You’re still young, dear Langa-kun, so let your senpai in life teach you something: adults won’t do anything they don’t want to without an incentive to do so.”

“Okay. Let’s beef.”

Adam smiled with pure delight at the suggestion, twirling away with his cape swirling around him.

“Yes, let’s. And this time, if I win, I really get you. I’ll even give you a handicap, what do you say? One cigarette.”

Langa nodded, heading toward the dark and silent starting line. He watched Adam pull up beside him, taking out his cigarette case and pulling out one stick, waiting for the flare of flame before he took off. This wasn’t like last time, when he wanted to prove himself to the other man and fight him on an even footing. Adam was too good, and the stakes too high, to do otherwise. And in the end, Langa just barely lost.

In a last-ditch effort to stop Adam, he pulled out the knife he’d hidden under his shirt. He’d taken it out of the kitchen block before he came, just in case, out of some vague thought about self-defense. He knew that it wasn't fair, that it was cheating, but he was desperate. However, just as always, Adam defied his expectations, tearing his shirt open as he approached Langa.

"Go ahead, if you think that's what you need to do. I won't stop unless you stop me."

"You can't. Please, stop this," Langa begged, still holding out the knife as if it could somehow deter the man. But Adam kept walking, making Langa back up until his back hit the walls of the factory and the tip of the weapon rested against the older man's chest.

"The rules of 'S' are absolute. Didn't Cherry tell you that? I won, Langa-kun. So you and your friend are both my toys now.”

He reached out to caress Langa’s face before twisting his hand into his hair and leaning closer.

“And I am going to have so much fun watching him cry.”

“Please, Adam. Please.”

But he hadn’t answered, only wrenching Langa’s head back and swooping down to capture his mouth in a harsh, bruising kiss. Langa didn’t feel any love or tenderness in it, only the cruel satisfaction of a conqueror. And he panicked as Adam’s hands swept lower, his thumbs sliding under the waistband of Langa’s pants and starting to tug them down.

The first slash, shallow and hesitant, didn’t even make Adam flinch. Langa could feel hot tears rolling down his cheeks as he stabbed again and again, listening to Adam’s laughter ring in his ears as the man refused to let go, staining both of them. But gradually, his grip loosened and he began to fall to his knees, dragging Langa down with him into a growing pool of blood. And with a last burst of strength, those gloved fingers reached up again, digging into his cheeks to crush their mouths together in one final, copper-coated kiss.

“I love you so much, Langa-kun. You’ll never forget about me now. We’ll be together forever.”

Like a curse, those words had stayed with him.

In a blind terror, Langa had hidden his still-warm body, dumped it down one of the abandoned shafts, before running home to take a shower and change, throwing out the dirty clothes. And then he’d waited… waited and waited for the police to arrive.

But they never did.

The disappearance of “Ainosuke Shindo” was all that the news could talk about for weeks. Rumors swirled: he’d eloped with a secret lover, or he’d taken seriously ill and was in a private hospital, or it was all a publicity stunt before the next elections. Every time Langa saw his face on television or in the newspapers, he felt like his heart would burst out of his chest.

And when the stories about the young politician were beginning to fade away, Adam started to show up. It was only a little bit, at first: seeing a glimpse of a masked face in the reflection of glass, hearing a quiet sigh.

“You enjoyed it too, didn’t you?” Adam continued conversationally, but there was a cruel edge to his smile as he tugged the collar of his shirt down, exposing pale skin criss-crossed with still-bloody wounds. “Have you ever felt a passion as strong as you did that night? Even with Reki-kun?”

He hadn’t. As the hallucinations grew ever more vivid, he’d found it more and more difficult to keep what had happened a secret. And on the day that he’d broken up with Reki, he finally broke down and confessed to his mother.

The cops had come, then. They found the skeletonized remains just where Langa had left them. They questioned him for hours with Adam offering commentary and details that he’d thought he’d forgotten. And then they’d sent him to a doctor. And another one. And another.

And finally, he’d ended up here.

“Come on, Langa. Let’s go back to our room,” Adam encouraged the young man, insubstantial fingers brushing against his face and combing through his hair. “I know just how to make you feel better.”

Something throbbed deep in Langa’s gut at Adam’s words, and Langa felt his breath catch in his throat. Adam really did know, seemed to know his body better than Langa himself. And then Adam leaned close, until all that Langa could see were those blazing scarlet eyes. He thought that he could even feel the touch of lips, soft against his own.

“I love you, Langa.”

“I love you, too.”

A/N: Addressing a plot hole that can't be filled in because of the POV: Why didn't Tadashi know/say something? He did. Furthermore, Adam had ordered him not to interfere, and "what happens at 'S' stays at 'S'," so he covered it up in accordance with Adam's wishes. Which is why nobody found out until Langa confessed (Langa made a royal mess of trying to cover it up 😆).

This is where he meets Reki, who has ADHD & bipolar disorder; Miya, who has anorexia; Kojiro, a Mental Health Tech; Kaoru, the therapist; and Hiromi, the sassy night nurse. Hospitalized for three nights, Langa tries to figure out his problems while his relationships blossom and he experiences friendship and love for the first time.
