Together, let’s act on the lessons of COVID-19, prepare, and build a fairer, healthier world for all.
Tumblr media
COVID-19 is no longer the international public health emergency it was, but it is still circulating, and its devastating effects are still with us. Economic damage inflicted by the pandemic endures. Many healthcare systems are struggling. Millions of children are threatened by disease after missing out on routine childhood vaccinations. And three years after the first COVID-19 vaccines were developed, billions of people remain unprotected – overwhelmingly in developing countries.
When the next pandemic arrives, we must do better. But we’re not yet ready. We must prepare and act on the lessons of COVID-19.
Working together, the world must improve surveillance of viruses, strengthen health systems, and make the promise of Universal Health Coverage a reality. We must renounce the moral and medical disaster of rich countries hoarding and controlling pandemic healthcare supplies, and ensure everyone has access to diagnostics, treatments and vaccines.  And we must strengthen the World Health Organization’s authority and financing.
These efforts are making progress. The High-level meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response in September agreed a robust political declaration. This complements the negotiations on a pandemic accord in Geneva.
On this International Day of Epidemic Preparedness, I urge countries to build on this momentum by delivering a strong, comprehensive accord, focused on equity, by next year’s World Health Assembly in May.
Together, let’s act on the lessons of COVID-19, prepare, and build a fairer, healthier world for all.

is it just my eating disorder or should the agricultural society of america not have a say in how many calories the average person ought to eat per day?

I asked her to use an alcohol pad before doing it cause its not standard in the uk for some terrifying reason and she acted like it was the worst inconvenience of her life. And then she like went to find my vein and huffed and was like well NOW i cant touch it again to find it what am i supposed to do. Like girl you are a fucking adult rub your fingers with the pad or WEAR A PAIR OF FUCKING GLOVES MAYBE. And then she stabbed me really hard im pretty sure on purpose. i think it should be a rule that if a patient (or their parent, or a student or a customer or whoever) threatens you before 10am you get to go home for the rest of the day, paid of course ((perhaps double for the resulting headache))

Hey capitalist dystopia fans here’s some new fodder for your next writing romp: Every time I call my insulin pump/pump supplies monopoly provider support line I am forced to sit through an unskippable, nearly 30 second advertisement for their newest product delivered by a robotic voice before I can so much as reach a menu that might allow me to connect to a representative, and on one occasion I had this ad play TWO TIMES, BEFORE BEING ABLE TO ACCESS TWO DIFFERENT MENUS, ONLY AFTER WHICH THE SAME VOICE INFORMED ME I HAD CALLED AFTER BUSINESS HOURS AND HUNG UP.

Look, I simply believe that if a thing working properly is judged to be essential for the functioning of society and the continued alive-ness of the people in it, then the government should have the power to compel the people in charge of that thing to make sure it will continue working properly.

Surgical site infections (SSIs) are a common healthcare-associated infection, affecting thousands of patients annually. SSIs can cause significant morbidity and mortality rates, leading to longer hospital stays and increased healthcare costs.

Just saw tumblr’s little banner that it’s mental health month and
you know what I would really fucking love for mental health month?
for my pharmacy not to be out of my mental health meds with no guarantees that they will receive any more of it on a reasonable schedule.
for me to be able to ask over the phone which pharmacies do have meds in stock and not have the pharmacy tech blow me off.
for me to be able to move my prescription for my mental health meds to a pharmacy that does have it in stock without having to call my psychiatrist and beg him to write me a new prescription. apparently, because my meds are a controlled substance, they’re not allowed to transfer the script.
and most of all i would love to be able to do all of this without being accused of drug seeking behavior.
i have been in withdrawal for over a week. i cannot focus or stay awake for a normal amount of time. but i still have to go to my job (which is suffering as a result of all of this by the way, but if i say anything it’ll just be viewed as an excuse because this is not the first time my whole life has been fucked up by meds/supply chain issues causing issues for me hitting deadlines) and pay my utilities and pretend to be a normal person.
also, yes, i’ve called my doc about this, but psychiatrists don’t work weekends. and the pharmacy’s response has basically been “sucks to suck, I guess.”
so. happy mental health month. whee.
