Happy Blessed Birthday to Clifford Smith Jr., better known by his stage name Method Man.

When Interviewed on his thoughts of Aaliyah, he said:
"The word in the hood was, she had a cockeye. Cause she always wear them shades, yahmean? But the next album came out and it was like, Whoa, she killin it on some real warrior shit. I didn’t see anyone doing what she did. I mean, Britney Spears tried but I laughed at that fuckin video. It was hilarious, yo. I liked that song Britney bit, where Aaliyah had the snake [“We Need a Resolution”]. It was deep.
Aaliyah was our pop princess. To be associated with R Kelly in any way at that point in time, that was street credibility. Some people just have that “it” factor, where it doesn’t matter where they’re at, they appeal to both sides. White kids adored her; that’s a hard bridge to cross right there, man, but she had a lot of talent. And when you meet the girl there’s a level of comfortability I can’t even describe. Her and a friend of mine were best friends, so we used to hang out. We went to Universal Studios [to a photo booth], you know those little corny sticker pictures? We used to go do stuff like that. I remember watching a home movie of her and her friends portraying the Spice Girls, that was kinda kooky. It was like being around your little sister. It wasn’t Aaliyah the big superstar. It was just Baby Girl.
I’ve always said that a comedian ain’t funny to me if he try too hard to be funny. Same shit with sexy. Aaliyah didn’t have to try hard. She was a total package as far as singing, dancing and entertaining. She was killin all that, and it was a relief to find out she actually ain’t cockeyed. And her moms was mad peace but very stern, remind me of my bougie aunts and shit. Not bougie in a bad way, but you know, Nigga I ain’t havin it. "

Method Man was part of the Rap group Wu-Tang Clan.
DID YOU KNOW: Wu-Tang clan wanted to work with Aaliyah (who was at the time a high demand artist)? RZA wrote Gravel Pit for Aaliyah.

Meet Damon X, the emerging addition to Yonkers' often-overlooked hip-hop narrative. "The Drive" marks Damon X's first release after his name change and featuring on Tanner Peterson's single, "Break the Spell." Inspired by car culture, Damon X employs a continuous double entendre on the word "drive." Boasting an increasingly urgent lyricism over a smooth beat, "The Drive" includes themes of competition and social justice to tell a story of the self-determination required to reach one's dreams.
Hailing from Yonkers, New York, Damon X is the latest in a surprisingly long line of hip-hop/R&B artists from the "Sixth Borough." Like fellow Yonkers artists (e.g. DMX, Mary J. Blige, and The LOX), Damon X couples his phenomenal songwriting, rapping, and singing skills with an inextinguishable drive to be recognized by the pinnacles of the music world. Some may describe this as a chip on his shoulder. Damon X prefers to see it as reflecting the essence of the city of Yonkers. Being the son of a former Miami DJ granted Damon X an upbringing constantly filled with an eclectic music collection. As a result, some of Damon X's first influences include the likes of Gil Scott Heron, Bob Marley, Erykah Badu, Joni Mitchell, and 2Pac.
However, as a young listener during the famous "Blog Era" of hip-hop, Damon X's first inspirations in rap were J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T., and Kendrick Lamar. While many - to devalue the genre - enjoy distinguishing hip-hop and higher education, Damon X graduated from an Ivy League university. Staying true to his studies, Damon X brings a sociological lens to creating music. Much of his approach to songwriting focuses on themes such as race, class, life, death, love, and loss. To Damon X, the point is not just to make art; it's important to make art just.

Ultramagnetic MCs - Funk Your Head Up (17/03/1992)

A dedication piece to remember 2020’s last middle finger- MF DOOM’s death (July 13, 1971-October 31, 2020)
One of the MCs and artists that supported the true artistry of underground rap scene and Graffiti art. If only people can utterly understand the greatness of this man’s debut with Operation Doomsday way back in 1999 that is literally from Marvel Comic’s Dr. Doom. His brother died, whatever left that they produced was rejected by the record labels, destroying his advocacies and vision. Then, he rose from the ashes like Jesus Christ as MF DOOM after a 3-year hiatus and being pretty much homeless and sleeping on benches of New York to seek revenge on the music industry with the whole ‘DOOM/villain/rap game terrorist’ persona. He never revealed his face, kept his life private to stay genuine like Dr. Doom’s character for years.
“WHEN YOU COME TO A DOOM SHOW, COME EXPECTING TO HEAR MUSIC, DON’T COME EXPECTING TO SEE.
EVERYTHING WE DO IS VILLAIN STYLE”
- Your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper, A Rolling Stone interview (2009)
This man even made the Halloween his own doomsday. A real villain.
…AND JUST REMEMBER, ALL CAPS WHEN YOU SPELL THE MAN NAME
"I came here to meet somebody...Don't know who it was, but I'll know when I see him. And I came here to give him a message. And that message is Jesus loves them." - DMX
DMX had a significant impact on hip hop music and is considered a legend in the genre. He "defined 2000s rap" and was "among the most prolific rappers of his era". He broke and set numerous records.
#OnThisDay April 9th, 2021, DMX lost functionality in multiple essential organs, reportedly his liver, kidneys, and lungs, and was pronounced dead shortly after at age 50. It was revealed on July 8 by the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office that Simmons' official cause of death was a cocaine-induced heart attack.
As many of you are with your loves ones today, not everyone can share that same happiness.
