a/n: and here we are! the final installment of the ajf 100 arc. this takes place right after mosley lane in season five, and from here on i promise we’ll see some happier days :) i can’t thank you all enough for coming on this adventure with me, as hard and fraught as it was.
an ajf fic arc that happily stands on its own! (the pieces stand alright on their own as well, for the most part!) one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine | ten | eleven
words: 1.6k warnings: none!
summary: “let us not burden our remembrances with a heaviness that's gone.” - william shakespeare, the tempest
masterlist | a joyful future masterlist | requests closed!
“You’d never believe it, Hales. The sass on your kid these days is unreal.” A laugh leaves you as you lean forward, resting your elbows on your knees. “He pulled one right out of your book the other day with Aaron when he told him it was time to come in out of the snow...”
It’s just one of those Saturdays where you needed to talk to her. Not for any particular reason, but just knowing that if this was any other timeline, the two of you would sit out in the breakfast nook in the big house, watching the snow fall and the sun set as the February evening wore on.
There’s a crunch of snow under day-off boots behind you, but you ignore him and continue talking, just as you would if she were here.
“We miss you. I think the weirdest thing so far was skipping your Christmas present. Had it all wrapped and everything and then I remembered you wouldn’t be there.” You look up, taking a little breath. “Had a good cry about that one.”
“It is getting better though, all things considered…” You trail off, not sure what to say. Sharing silence with a headstone is a little less companionable than the alternative.
It wasn’t a lie, though. The grief didn’t overwhelm you now like it did those first weeks. It sometimes clocked you at the oddest of times, drawing a few tears (or more than a few) or a little smile.
Sometimes, both.
You huff a little laugh to yourself. “We had a really good case outcome last week. Found three kids who’d been missing, got them all back to their parents. It was just one of those that reminded us why we do it, you know?”
Aaron sits beside you without a word.
“And you’d be proud of Aaron, Haley. He’s saddling the rest of us with the paperwork and going home early, most nights. It’s kind of impressive. Though, I know it’ll wear off and he’ll be back on his bullshit soon enough.”
There’s a snort from beside you, and you finally acknowledge him.
“Tell me it isn’t true and I’ll take it back,” you say, looking over at him.
He shrugs. “Can’t. But then again, you’d never lie to Haley and you’d never lie to the dead, so we’re two for two, there.”
You smile at him for a moment, gesturing vaguely to the headstone. “We were just catching up.”
“Of course. I thought it would be one of those days.”
“Where’s the kiddo?” You look over your shoulder, halfway expecting Jack to be playing somewhere in the snow.
“Helping Jess with dinner.” He addresses Haley’s headstone. “Hear that, Hales? Your son is helping with dinner, now.”
You both pause, acknowledging the laughter you know you’d get if she were here.
Looking over at him, you wryly note, “Yeah, see, Jack might be helping with dinner, but you still aren’t. What’s your excuse?”
“I have been sent to bring you to the apartment for dinner by request of my son and my sister.”
You tut at him with a little smile “Nice to see Jess has been promoted.”
He rolls his eyes.
+++
The first time the entire team gathers at Dave’s after the New Year is a refreshing return to something that feels halfway normal.
You’ve got Henry in your lap so JJ can actually eat something. He’s messing around with one of the rubik’s-cube-like toys Spencer got him for Christmas. To everyone’s delight, the novelty of them has yet to wear off and they’ve saved the entire Jareau-La Montagne household a couple of meltdowns.
“How’s he holding up?” JJ asks between bites.
You glance over at Hotch, on the floor with one leg outstretched and the other tucked underneath him. Jack’s holding his attention, explaining some advanced maneuver with his army men. “He’s doing alright. Better every day, I think, but there will always be bad days.”
She hums. “And Jack?”
You shrug, catching Henry’s toy before it can fall from your lap. “He’s still adjusting, of course, but Jess is doing a great job at keeping up with his routines.”
“Actually, that’s really all kids need at Jack’s age, other than socialization and physical affection,” Spencer says. “The retention of a consistent routine is key to development after the toddler stages of childhood.”
You toss a grin over your shoulder. “Thanks, Spence.”
He shrugs. “It’s just true.”
JJ huffs a laugh and puts her napkin on the table. You pass Henry back to her, and he’s more than happy to tuck back against her chest.
Dave, a kitchen towel thrown over his shoulder, takes your plate. You follow him back into the kitchen, turning the water on and starting on the silverware while he tackles the glasses.
“Everything okay?” He asks.
Your brow furrows. “Yeah. Why?”
He glances over his shoulder. “Just not used to seeing you so far from Aaron, is all. Fifty feet is quite a far distance for a shadow to cover, don’t you think?”
With an eye roll: “Give me a break, Rossi.”
He raises his soapy hands as if to surrender, but you know he’s not even close to done. “I’m just sayin.’” He relents after a moment. “There’s only so much the rest of us can do for him.”
“What do you mean?” You direct your question at the dishes, remaining studiously focused on your task.
Unlike you, he pauses, turning square to face you. “For a pair of profilers...You know what? It’s not worth it.”
+++
Aaron stamps the snow off his boots and hangs his coat and scarf on the hook by the door, fresh from an afternoon of errands and paperwork at the office.
Belatedly, he realizes he missed the fort in the living room when he first came through the door. The couch cushions and dining chairs have all been arranged in an elaborate configuration, supporting the duvet stolen from Aaron’s bed and a fair few flat sheets from the hall closet. All the linens are secured with carefully knotted neckties, or pinned together with some spare clothespins you found God-knows-where.
Creeping forward, he picks up the corner of what he imagines is a door flap by design.
In the dark of the fort, he finds you and Jack curled together on your sides around the portable DVD player. Jack’s out like a light - his little hand pressed against his cheek where it rests on your arm. You’re awake, waiting for him.
Aaron finds your eyes. You smile a little and keep your voice at a whisper. “He’s only been sleeping about twenty minutes or so. He wore himself out playing architect, so I figured a quick nap wouldn’t keep him up too late.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine,” Aaron assures you in a whisper with an equally small smile. “I’m just glad he had fun today.”
“Yeah.” You arc an arm over Jack’s shoulders and brush at the feathered hair on his forehead. Returning your gaze to Aaron, you playfully (and quietly) ask, “Want to join us for another movie, or are you too old for stuff like this?”
He shakes his head, a real, genuine smile on his face. It’s the first one you’ve seen in a while and it warms you beyond measure.
When he stoops inside, he rests his head on your calf and his hand on his son. You gingerly stretch for another DVD, and Aaron takes over the logistics after you hand it over - replacing the disk, lowering the volume, and starting the next movie.
In the quiet darkness, you think of Haley. A few tears slip out of the corners of your eyes, landing between your temple and your arm. You don’t dare move for fear of waking Jack, but it’s as if Aaron can read your mind. He lifts his head just so, finding your lashes inexplicably wet in the light from the screen.
Your eyes flicker down to his and your close-lipped smile is shaky.
His eyes narrow. What’s wrong?
Nothing. You shake your head just a little. I just miss her.
You watch the inside of his lip pinch between his teeth as his mouth presses into a thin line.
A trembling breath leaves you as you refocus on the screen, your fingers playing with the hem of Jack’s sleeve as he sleeps.
Aaron watches you for a moment. He thinks perhaps you are the only person alive who understood what was between him and Haley - the love, the tiffs, the history. Somehow, you managed to see right through them, right through him, right through her, to the heart of it.
He’s sure you love his son like your own. He remembers the desperate way you held his son when you found him in that trunk. It was that day - when he saw the panic flash across your face when you realized you hadn’t seen Jack, hadn’t found him - he realized that you’d kill, risk life and limb, drop everything, for Jack.
That day tested you as well. If you thought too long about it, you could still taste the metallic tang of anger in the back of your mouth when you thought about Foyet getting his hands on Jack. It was that overwhelming flood of emotion that brought you to the same conclusion.
Now, the secure weight of Jack in your arms lulls you into a kind of bone-deep peace.
You let your eyes close, falling into the sheer comfort of the moment. After a few minutes, Aaron follows suit.

chelsea watches (read: is agonized by) “avengers: endgame”
Tumblr media
i just got home from endgame and i have a lot to say about it!
OVERALL:
i... liked it? i think? i can’t tell.
there’s probably going to be a lot of complaining in this post, yet i didn’t actually hate the movie. but there was a lot to digest, so i’m sure my feelings will change over the next couple of weeks.
this movie was edited weird and i think it gave me whiplash.
the tone was dramatic and desperate, then lighthearted and fun, and then back to dramatic and desperate before i could so much as blink. it was very jarring!
it also made me cry.
robert downey jr. has always been very earnest in his portrayal of tony stark, but he gave all he had in this one. i was on the edge of tears watching him the whole time, really. there’s definitely a sense of finality to his performance.
those last 20 minutes had me weeping a bit. when they put the arc reactor on the bundle of flowers... oh, my heart. :’(
THE GOOD:
(most of) our characters are back!
but was there ever any doubt? the stakes were made to feel high, but they never really were. you always came away with the feeling that they were all gonna make it.
no word on vision, though! pretty confused about that one. i know he was killed after the snap occurred, so i don’t think they actually can bring him back, but i always thought that he would, since they have this to film still.
it was very well made. i hope they keep bringing back the people who work on the sets, the cinematography, and the lighting, because it was all so well done.
we need to raise one for alan silvestri and his amazing soundtrack.
oh, did anyone else notice the emphasis on DAUGHTERS?
tony’s daughter morgan
scott’s daughter cassie
clint’s daughter lila
thanos’s "daughters”, nebula and gamora
to me, it felt like they were setting up these girls for potentially taking up their father’s mantles, which would actually be cool as fuck.
morgan stark is absolutely the cutest little bean i’ve ever seen in my life.
I LOVE YOU 3000!
her scenes with tony were so sweet.
that cheeseburger parallel... oh man.
really, every scene that every person shared with tony was really good. you can just feel that everybody was giving everything they had because they knew they only had so much time left to play these characters together, and they wanted to get these final performances right.
tom holland, you heartbreaker. the audience in my theater went absolutely nuts when he finally returned. but when he was crying as he was talking to tony for the last time, oh man.
“i lost the kid.” please...
THE BAD:
i still don’t really get what they’re doing with thor.
i don’t share this opinion much because this is tumblr and everyone loves this movie, but i didn’t like ragnarok, and i don’t like what’s become of thor or bruce. i wasn’t really checking on these two before, but now they’re just the comedy reliefs of the MCU.
chris hemsworth is funny, of course, and thor is a badass, of course, but they were just trying so hard with him.
it kind of feels like they’re just pulling him apart, like one group still wants him to be the noble leader of asgard and the other just wants him to be the court jester. so, rather than decide, they just mushed their ideas together.
captain marvel: i knew she wasn’t going to be in the movie much, because she would’ve done everything in, like, 30 minutes, but they really, really underutilized her. seriously, she was only in this one, at most, for five minutes.
but, in those five minutes, she got a new haircut and kicked all kinds of ass, which are both wins.
THE UGLY:
STEVE ROGERS, SIR, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
i can’t believe they hit the undo button on cap’s story.
rather than have him grow and develop in his new role in the future he never wanted or expected to receive, they just had him go back in time to marry the one that got away.
but don’t get me wrong y’all; steve and peggy hurt me so good. i live for their angst. but they weren’t supposed to get together like this!
it’s gross because peggy moved on. she was able to pick up the pieces and create something wonderful for herself by having a fulfilling career and a happy marriage with another man.
steve should’ve accepted her choice. if he loves her so much, he should’ve accepted that he lost her and, since she moved on without him, he has to move on without her.
i can almost get the poetic cinema that they were going for: after tony loses his chance at having a family and living his life, steve is woken up and realizes how much he’s been missing out on, so he decides to go out there and discover what he’s been running away from all this time.
but, rather than do those things, or literally anything else, steve goes back in time to... marry peggy.
like, he could’ve traveled the world with sam and bucky, or gone solo for a while, or even hit up sharon again.
sharon carter, what a waste. they really couldn’t commit to the idea of her and steve together, could they?
but as soon as they confirmed sharon to be peggy’s niece, there was just no way a romance could blossom. it’s kind of hilarious how in a cinematic universe where raccoons talk, characters time travel, and AIs can be 3D printed, kissing the niece of your former flame is still considered to be the weirdest thing about it.
seriously: i find it all so vulgar and manipulative.
the one good thing that came out of this was sam wilson, the only worthy captain america, receiving the shield.
i’ve read that some people are upset that sam got the shield instead of bucky. like, did y’all watch the last movie? let bucky have his plums and his goats. he’s done fighting other people’s wars.
THE EVEN UGLIER:
i got problems, y’all, and those problems have two names: natasha romanoff and clint barton.
i ship these two because everything in the avengers (2012) led me to believe that these super cool assassins who were fighting each other were actually in love with each other and it was them against the world (which doesn’t sound familiar at all, i know).
the characters had history and scarlett johansson and jeremy renner had chemistry. i saw it and i know all y’all saw it.
so, y’all can imagine how goddamn appalled i was when i first read that natasha and clint were not only not lovers, but that clint actually had a secret family, with a secret wife, on a secret farm, and that we were going to be told this with absolutely no build-up whatsoever.
but y’all could tell that the russos were as tired as i was when it came to accepting those facts!
they decided to throw caution to the wind and show some more intimacy between natasha and clint, which was delicious. finally, some good fucking food.
i mean, the necklace? she was wearing her necklace again!
to me, it seemed like natasha had fallen in love with him all those years ago, but he was either already married or had turned her down (or both?), and she was never able to act on her feelings for him. i think that clint was also in love... and perhaps knew that he could never be with her, because of their lifestyles and her past, and chose laura instead. or something agonizing and unfulfilling like that.
(i really hope her upcoming movie expands on this.)
and i do think that she loved him. like, romantically. she couldn’t stop touching him the whole movie (HER HANDS ON HIS FACE!!! she’s so worried for him i’m crying) and was shaking, she was so relieved, upon being reunited with him.
it is some consolation that no matter what, you are never able to deny that natasha and clint love each other: even when they’re not romantic partners, they are definitely platonic life partners. their mutual devotion to one another, in almost every universe in the comics and in these movies, is incredibly strong and moving.
so, rather than endure clint’s death, natasha chose to sacrifice herself so that he could get the stone and, ultimately, be reunited with his family. and, on paper, it sounds okay... except, it really isn’t.
y’all wanna know why it’s not okay?
it’s not okay because natasha was an original avenger, and we were never given the chance to spend time with her, or become emotionally invested in her journey, or to care about her reasons for making the ultimate sacrifice.
like, i cared about natasha, but i felt that i would’ve cared so much more (and that the audience could’ve, as well) had we’d been able to have a front row seat to her “atonement” arc.
because, as an audience, we sort of started in medias res: while she was not initially forthcoming with who she was or what she was doing, natasha came to be seen as a reliable and capable ally by the avengers, her second appearance onscreen. we are given no real reason to distrust her because she’s so desperate to find redemption, which she’s made apparent in almost every movie, and it’s hard to hate somebody working so strongly for another chance.
i mean, this journey would’ve been made so much more badass by us experiencing it firsthand, rather than relying on the hearsay from the directors, writers, and actors. we should’ve gotta a miniseries starring natasha romanoff as the black widow, so we could finally see what she did to become so disgusted with herself and so feared by everyone else.
this is (partially) why so many people adore bucky. we’ve seen him as the best friend, the fellow comrade, before he was forced to become a mindless killing machine. we’ve seen him kill and cause absolute mayhem. but now we’re watching bucky grow out from that and become something more (and, hopefully, something better).
basically, natasha romanoff should’ve received that same treatment. we needed to explore all of her facets, not just some of them.
tl;dr: we should’ve had more time with natasha.
it’s also not okay because natasha’s sacrifice, one that was both irreversible and absolutely pivotal to the fate of the final battle, was not given nearly the same amount of respect that tony received after his demise.
while we all owe a lot to robert downey jr. for his choice to portray, and continue portraying, tony stark / iron man, he is not the most important avenger.
it’s also worth noting that he did not have to be the one to snap his fingers. i mean, anyone could’ve been given what tony was wearing and then wielded the gauntlet. but, like natasha, he made a choice to sacrifice his life for the greater good.
yet, only tony was given an elaborate funeral. no matter how you slice it, it’s enormously disrespectful to a veteran team member. for this ultimate sacrifice to be made by the only woman on the original crew is doubly insulting.
AND ALL OF THIS IS MADE WORSE BY THE FACT that natasha’s death mirrors gamora’s. they’re identical, right down to the music that plays and how the camera focuses on their bloody bodies.
the russos were probably trying to invoke poetic cinema again here, but the scene comes across as somewhat lazy and insincere. like, they can’t even kill her right!
as terrible as this scene is, i want to give scarlett and jeremy a round of applause for it. you really got the sense that these characters were more than ready to die for each other, and that’s only because scarlett and jeremy were able to sell the emotional intimacy of the scene so well.
all of it is too little, too late, however.
allow me to conclude this rambling nonsense by stating that i also think they condensed her character arc too much. like, i know this branches off of what i was just talking about a dozen bullet points ago, but even if natasha were to receive this ending, i feel that she received it too soon, y’know?
there should’ve been more scenes in the previous films dedicated to her, and her feelings, and how she relates to any given situation, because another problem that drags this scene down is the lack of any information about natasha.
like, even when assembled with the other avengers, she feels remote.
perhaps that’s intentional, given that the character’s a spy and has been enigmatic about every other area of her life for so many years. but i think she’s been written to be too enigmatic.

Avengers: Endgame
Tumblr media
I honestly can’t get over how incredibly epic this movie was- the most perfect ending to 22 movies and 11 years of my life. It says it all that it honestly doesn’t feel like 3 hours sat watching the movie, I could have quite happily watched more!
The plot of the movie was decent and did a great job of tying back to previous movies, some in more subtle ways than others, whilst also giving us something new and providing a great ending to so many story arcs. I really enjoyed the start of the movie with the team going after Thanos right away and was pleasantly surprised that Thor went for the head within the first 15 minutes. They really kicked it up a notch with the ‘5 years later’ time jump though. It was a strange mixture of awesome and heartbreaking to see how the Avengers, and the world, had adapted after the snap. Time travel though!?!?!?! I was so here for the time travel portion of the movie. Seeing our modern day heroes back in iconic moments and even interacting with their past selves was just so cool and it was so well executed, I absolutely loved it. What followed this was probably my favourite and the most epic hour in the MCU of any movie that I have ever seen.
The big three Avengers taking on Thanos at the destroyed Avengers compound was so rewarding to see after all these years and the action involved was incredible. Thor wielding Mjolnir and Stormbreaker and charging up Tony was a personal highlight up until one of the most jaw dropping moments of the movie- the moment that cap wields Mjolnir and takes on Thanos and the whole cinema lost it was such a payoff after 10 years. Then, just when I think how can this get better, Steve is ready to take on Thanos and his army by himself and all of our dusted heroes return in the moment of the movie. Seeing all of these characters return, armies in tow, was such an indescribable feeling, even thinking about it I get chills, this is what the MCU has been building to for 11 years. Then when I’m on the verge of losing it we get an incredible team shot followed by the two words we’ve waited the longest time to hear and the most epic charging shot in history. The action sequences that followed are already some of the most iconic in the MCU and I was so overwhelmed by what was going on onscreen (in the best way)- Wanda and her ‘you will’ before handing Thanos his ass slayed my existence, Tony and Pepper fighting side by side was everything I never knew I needed, the pass the parcel with the gauntlet, Captain Marvel’s arrival taking out Thanos’ ship, the female team up of my life to help Carol get the gauntlet across the battlefield, and so so so much more. Just epic.
What makes the movie incredible though is that despite it’s crazy awesome action pieces and team moments it’s about our main Avenger characters at it’s core. Natasha had, in my opinion, the perfect ending to her arc. The sequence where her and Clint are fighting to sacrifice themselves and save the universe absolutely destroyed me (as soon as they stepped foot on Vormir I started mentally preparing because there was only one way for that to go). I will forever be sad that she didn’t make the female team up moment but she gave her life for half of the Universe and made the entire plan possible- a true hero.
Having sat out Infinity War, Clint finally got to have some pretty badass moment in Endgame. The opening scene set him up perfectly and I really enjoyed his Ronin persona and all of his moments trying to get the gauntlet away from Thanos’ forces.
One of the biggest surprises of the movie was that whilst I can’t say I particularly love the Hulk or Banner, combine them together and it makes for perfection. It was such a great decision to go the ‘Professor Hulk’ route and I’m glad he didn’t die because I would love to see more.
Thor... I feel like I do kind of like the changes that were made 5 years later, and they definitely made sense for where Thor was at mentally. Some of the jokes went on a bit long sometimes but I loved his scenes on Asgard with his mother and his cute little face when he found out he was still worthy, so I can’t get too mad. Full on Viking Thor was next level though, I completely loved it- the beard, wielding both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir together, kicking Thanos’ ass and teaming up with his bro’s for the last time. After Ragnarok, Infinity War and Endgame I really do look forward to where Thor goes from here with the Guardians of the Galaxy (and I definitely need more from New Asgard under a Valkyrie rule!).
After being criminally underused in Infinity War, Steve Rogers completely stepped up to the plate in Endgame. The fact that three of the standout moments of the movie were Steve centred says it all- Cap vs. Cap was so cool to see, Cap wielding Mjolnir which made the entire cinema collectively lose their minds and the every single MCU hero ever ‘Avengers Assemble’. I am so incredibly happy with his ending as well, one that I was expecting as soon as it was revealed Steve was going back in time to return the stones. It made perfect sense for Steve after all these years and seeing him finally get his dance with Peggy destroyed me (you could also definitely tell that Bucky knew his plan all along).
Then finally there’s Tony, who provided a lot of the emotional moments of the movie. All the Tony / Pepper / Morgan scenes were just perfect, as was Tony getting to talk with his father again after all these years. I absolutely loved Tony and Pepper talking out Thanos’ forces together during the final battle and I’m so glad they found time for his reunion hug with Peter- just beautiful. That ending though. So emotional and yet incredibly perfect. So fitting that the man who started it all saved the Universe and destroyed Thanos, sacrificing himself in the process. ‘I am Iron Man’ will now live on in infamy for another reason, I got chills listening to it, before being emotionally destroyed in the following minutes.
Every single one of them gave their all, as did the actors. I read a review that said it felt like all of the original crew knew it could very well be their last time playing these characters and were determined to go out with their best work and I honestly feel that in my bones.
Just Epic. The perfect conclusion in my eyes.

Recaps from Chat
Recap from the last chat - we went episode by episode, so all the writers should read this. I'll still start with some general comments that people had and discussions of some useful aspects from the last chat as well.
As a quick note, some of the episodes are discussed more or less than others, depending on if the writer was there or if people had thoughts or substantive comments rather than just compliments. I also removed all of the comments that were simply complimentary, but the chat was overwhelmingly positive as to each and every episode, which makes sense because they're all AWESOME. Just wanted you all to know that. Writers who weren't at the chat but want to see people complimenting them, just let me know, I can send you portions of the raw transcript.
There was a suggestion  that we post one episode posted per day rather than all at once – thoughts?
Schedule reminder: Episode Drafts due July 31; Posting to start August 15
General comments:
If people haven’t seen the last chat’s recap, the most relevant parts were: 1) the increased Queen B-Amaya rivalry and development
confrontation in 10,
more revelations in second confrontation in 13,
Amaya angsting about researching the future and whether to change what she discovers in 14
Amaya deciding not to in 15,
final confrontations in 18 and Doomworld, Amaya is stronger/less distracted because Queen B’s taunts no longer work
2) the spear
used to power the Oculus and the pieces were scattered when it exploded; as a Time Master, Rip can track the pieces down (backstory of spear revealed in episode 8 from Constantine)
the spear does not whisper or lure people in, but rather glow and change history – the more pieces, the stronger Len is as well
3) Len appearance guide (reposted below)
Episode 3 is our first appearance of blink-and-miss-Len
More blink-and-miss appearance in the next two episodes
Episode 5 (funeral) is turning point between “blink and gone” and “talking”
Episode 6 we have our first appear-and-talk Len, the big moment where Mick is taken aback and is surprise (like in canon, where Mick has to give a gruff “You’re not real”). Still only showing up briefly.
Increasingly more appearances in episode 6 through 10; Len says things TO Mick and Mick trying (and failing) to ignore him, responding to an increasing degree
Episode 10 - Len’s talking enough with Mick that the others notice
Episode 11 - Legends test Mick for hallucinations, but Len’s still there
Episode 12 - Len can’t go on the ship, but the audience finds out he’s real
Episode 13 to 16, Len should really be written as a full member of the cast just one that no one else can hear but Mick.
Episode 14 L!Len steals the piece while O!Len is around, which is when O!Len realizes for the first time that Legion!Len is around; we could have a scene with O!Len asking Gideon “WTF was that”
Episode 16, he argues with Mick and leaves to go with the Legion!Len, who he discovers can also see him
Episode 17 is the episode where he helps Legion!Len fight the Legion
Episode 18 O!Len comes back and re-joins Mick’s side, but isn’t able to convince him not to go with Legion!Len in episode 19
Episode 20, Mick discovers Len is real
Episode 22, everyone else does and Len gets resurrected
[NOTE: everyone, don’t forget that some of Len’s appearances should be with comments of bitterness about having been “tricked” into sacrificing himself anti-heroism, rather than just comments from the peanut gallery]
Black Flash should appear more - suggestions:
Episode 1 – first appearance, chasing Eobard and discussed
Episode 4 – time wraiths appear, mentioned as a threat
One episode needs to have the Legion working together to temporarily trap the BF – options include episode 6 (what the Legion is doing during the heist), episode 9 (what the Legion is doing during the American Rev section while Rip is fighting the Legends), possibly episode 11 or 14?
Episode 10 – Eobard is running from BF
Episode 16 – Eobard mentions the BF as a concern since he is stuck in the show
Episode 19 – Morgan taunts Eobard with mention of BF
Episode 20 – BF in a cage since Eobard cannot destroy it
Episode 22 – BF sees Eobard put back into the timeline and fades away looking satisfied
Episode by Episode
Episode 1
Eobard's speech be split up a bit more naturally, rather than a massive info dump
more changes regarding the spear being tied to the Oculus Stein argues to change the Holocaust but Rip loudly vetoes changing the timeline
Episode 2
No spear whispering, since it doesn’t fit with the spear as the Oculus tool
Episode 3
Awaiting updated draft to give further comments
Episode 4
More info on Chernobyl and Berlin Wall
More obvious that the “note” is a red herring and actually the Legion is going with bombs
Stein is on team “don’t change the past” because he doesn’t know about Lily (to set up his change of heart in episode 7); Nate leads the “don’t change history” camp
Inclusion of reference to someone telling Captain Lance that his daughter is alive (possible reference to Laurel promising to skype him from Earth-2)
Reference to Amaya having been introduce to the universal translator off-screen
Episode 5
Stein gets visions of Lily before he meets her – possibly subject of discussion with seeress
Gideon warns them not to use their powers too openly since this is mid-conversion (reference to angel incident), possibly as a result of Ray talking about how he can use his suit to solve the problem
End of episode Gideon will analyze the magic axe and pinpoint what year it was brought from
Episode 6
More visions of Lily, possibly a throwaway reference to a descendant of Stein’s in the future which confuses him because he and Clarissa never had kids
First big reveal moment with Len to Mick, with Mick reacting by assuming Len isn’t real
Intro should include a mention of how Eobard is already analyzing the spear pieces with science, since the Legion would have had to be located in this time period during the previous episode
Might be a good place to include a mention of how Ray has trauma from the cretaceous period: he felt helpless/useless without his tech and now that he has it back, he feels he can be useful again as a result and  thus wants to use it, or something like that
Episode 7
Stein meets and bonds with Lily; he should have an on-screen (or at least, noted by others) change of heart on the “change the past” argument as a result;
Stein could ask Gideon about Lily after he meets her, with Gideon confirming that his visions were memory flashes and also giving him information about Lily’s life (sets up how the Legends sometimes overlook how useful Gideon is, since he didn’t ask about the visions beforehand) Ray suit malfunctioning storyline to line up with the overall arc
No Flashpoint-warning-note-from-future
Reason to use nanotech: because the aliens have telepathy, if they manage to get enough of them affected, it'll affect all of the aliens thus explaining why the heroes could stop a world-wide invasion without having Barry and Supergirl implausibly run around the whole world
A few more sentences regarding Oa/Green Lanterns; possible reference to “urban legend” Batman, possibly from Oliver
Possibly a quick montage/discussion of what other places are doing to fight the aliens during the initial attack (good place to sneak in some cameos of Bruce Wayne, Constantine, others)
Episode 8
Sara should mention that she got Constantine’s name/address from Oliver, since it won’t be mentioned in Episode 7; quick montage of them being turned away from Madam Xanadu and Zatanna and having no choice but to come back to Constantine
Less emphasis on Booster, just a quick reference/back-and-forth between Eobard and Rip
Zed’s vision could be both that Rip is being hunted by the Legion and that he’s not a friend (two temporally distinct things), thereby predicting both the Japan chase sequence and the later brainwashing
Possible referencing back to the seeress’ vision – now that they know that Zed has accurate visions, they consider that the seeress’ vision was accurate as well
Longer Japan sequence – more ninjas
Episode 9
Eobard, Darkh and Queen B aren't really there without much explanation – possible place for the Black Flash scene, or make this Rip’s “audition”
otherwise all positive
Episode 10
Possibly during montage Ray tries a Bat costume but someone says “nah, that’s an urban legend”
Ray will coin the name “Legion of Doom” by attempting to insulting them and failing (i.e. "at least we’re better than your - your - your stupid LEGION OF DOOM")
More scenes with the Legion bickering
Episode where Queen B hints at Amaya’s future (no specific facts), first stand-off between the two of them; Amaya starts to become worried but doesn’t know if it’s worth looking at her own future – temptation
More lead-up for Ray trying the Cold personality – possibly Mick makes some comments that in turn lead Ray to using the cold gun, and later Mick can just take the gun off him later and give him a similar pep talk – DEFINITELY need Len to be commenting on Ray’s attempt to become him
Stein is trapped on the ship with the villains and pretends to be an undercover Brit; Stein could start singing as a distraction – some sea shanty or British song, possibly "Heart of Oak"?
End of episode, someone goes "you taught them WHAT?!" at the very last bit of the episode as the Waverider flies off and then you hear the strains of "yo ho, a pirate’s life for me" from down below as the pirate’s Waverider sails away
Episode 11
The greenpeace member will not know exactly what the spear piece is and what it does, but just knows that holding it makes things change for the better
Additional complication in the episode: set of humorous sequences in which the Legends attempt (unsuccessfully) to navigate 80s Auckland with references to a traditional welcome ceremony, someone accidentally mistaking Mick for being an Aussie (as a shout-out to Dom being from Australia), and possibly Mick getting into an argument about rugby with someone
Suggestion for the opening: possibly start by showing Mick and Len talking, then the camera shifts to Jax or someone walking through the ship and observing Mick talking to the air (see from Jax POV how Mick looks when he interacts with Len)
Episode 12
Possibly include references to Green Lantern in timeship (brief visual reference, such as images flashing on repeat)
Len’s inability/refusal to enter the time ship is revealed early, due to the time stream being warped there; possibly make it ambiguous on whether Len doesn't want to come because he disapproves of the mission or just can't come because time stream stuff
Proposed scene: there'll be extremely scratchy voices/noises on the intercom - like, we can't tell if it's male, female, or more than one person, and there's background noise; mick has been separated from the team, and he's walking alone. Bad light, strange noises, steam and the intercom keeps cutting in and out and suddenly Mick hears what almost sounds like his own name, and the intercom is telling him to get out, run, turn back (like very scratchy). Instead of getting scared he gets suspicious and goes further into the ship, walking faster and faster as the noises get more insistent - he can SWEAR he hears his name in the noises, telling him to get out, turn back, she'll kill you, you have to - and he pries open a door and other voices superimpose from within - less scratchy but still tinny, electronic " - turn back. We have to -" And it's a flickering hologram of the former crew, pleading with the captain to turn back. The captain is resolute and refuses. the crew are despondent. The captain accuses them of being traitors, but the crew are clearly in the right. the hologram freezes. Mick has gotten closer. He bangs the display and the pictures flicker out. Then, the voice, clearer, definitely saying his name, but it cuts out, and another hologram starts.....
Len is attempting to use the ship’s broken/evil electronics to warn Mick; use a garbled version of Mick's name like either "Mi-" or "*crackle* -ick!" never the full thing. Possibly later on, Mick comments that "Nick" must have been trying to escape - and then someone points out that there was no Nick
End of the episode reveals that Len is there, double cliffhanger
Suggestions for more space-horror references are welcome (Aliens & 2001 Space Odyssey already included)
Episode 13
Len converses with Gideon regarding why he couldn’t go onto the other time ship and also in a moment of bitterness requests that she not reveal him to the rest of the team (because Mick keeps saying he’s dead and Len’s annoyed by this); possibly he asks Gideon a relevant question that no one thinks to ask and then conveys the information
Second stand-off between Queen B and Amaya
Piece of the spear could be an umbrella among a lot of umbrellas
Brainwashing will be removed off-screen, possibly with Mick staggering out and saying “it’s done” or something like that, then someone asks if using his Kronos skills was hard; conversation with Amaya will involve that that the bad memories it brings up about the time masters just remind him that Len killed them all and now Len’s dead
The team forgives Rip for his actions in the same way they forgave Mick for Kronos
Episode 14
Possibly some underlying tension with Rip from his actions in the Legion left over
Feels a little thin for an episode – possibly fit in some more Black Flash references stuff, maybe a scene between Rip and Sara, or a Jason Blood cameo
Suggestion: Amaya and Jax could have their own subplot, possibly meeting some of the Black British people at court (John Blanke?) and possibly playing tennis
How do they enter into the Court, possibly with fake connections, pretending to be French, or during a masquerade? Is Catherine still at court? Possibly this is set mid-way through Henry’s courtship of Anne?
Episode 15
Lily needs to be picked up and possibly used more, maybe coordinating from the ship; she and Stein need to have the big fight over him not revealing that she's an aberration
Kakopumpkin offers her services to assist with Irish accents
Request that Carter be from Cork and possibly with the last name O’Regan, possible references to the Great Famine in Ireland
References to Mick being of Irish descent helping him bond with people possibly more prominent? Also, possible joke as addition: Gideon later confirming that Mick is descended from Sadie the Goat/Gallus Mag because they have a shared propensity for headbutting their problems?
Regarding the “Republican” joke, since the Republicans at the time were anti-slavery against the pro-slavery Democrats, possibly explain further?
Episode 16
Possibly include references to the Green Lanterns
Excellent that there’s no A and B plots, both are equally important
Episode 17
Mysterious Girl that Jax meets should be Jessica Cruz, current Green Lantern, who can show up later in Doomworld
The Legends section of the episode seems a bit short – possibly add some more shenanigans/bonding?
In the background of the bar, there can be multiple cameos – Ivy and Selina ditching Gotham for an evening, pre-Joker Harley, etc.; just the camera passing over them
Possibly someone gets drunk and tries to explain one of their missions to Derek Waters from Drunk History ("and then george washington gave him a HUG")
Ray is very hyper because his suit is being reconstructed – possibly more attention to the reconstruction process that he’s doing
Episode 18
O!Len makes a joke about the Legion of Doom being back in Rome with its “legions”; Legion!Len creepily fails to pick up on the joke or laugh; Legion!Len can be dressed in a toga or a legionnaire outfit or both
Queen B, Jax and Amaya can all be pretending to be from Bialya/Zambezi
Episode 19
Working in Ystina; someone vaugely recognizing Jason Blood in a “doesn’t he look familiar?” sort of way; more clarity that the binding of Etrigan is meant as a punishment, more lead up mentions of Etrigan (possibly Merlin wondering what to do with the demon)
The “test” portion shouldn’t be too similar to the game show, possibly a simultaneous test of character
References to Monty Python (it’s only a model!)
Legends reuse medieval clothing from Viking era, only to be mistaken for Saxons, who were the bad guys, and were initially attacked/seen with suspicion
more of Oculus!Len arguing one way and Legion!Len arguing another and poor Mick stuck in the middle of it - with Mordred, who can see both as Len is becoming more visible
Episode 20-21
More set up for the Green Lanterns (Ted Kord more obviously mentioning his connection to them) and Batfamily (more references during the earlier Legion discussion of “the situation in Gotham”)
Queen B isn’t actually in Africa, but rather in a luxurious mansion in town for the LOD meeting, just say they’re usually based in Africa (otherwise very hard with the time zones and the travelling – travelling can be national rather than international)
Darhk gets Asia because of the League; Len should get Antarctica because no one else wanted it and it fit with his theme (still weird to Mick that he didn’t aim for North America and Central)
rather than Lisa not being important, she is still important to Len, he’s just not focused on her/where she is to an unusual degree, possibly reference on newspaper to Olympic Gold medalist figure skater Lisa
Nate bursts in at the beginning like the first episode and Darhk just has him dragged away by anonymous henchmen instead of listening to him (more dramatic, less murder)
Finale
O!Len comments that Gideon could confirm it, Mick annoyed that Len didn’t mention that Gideon knew the whole time, Len forgot to do so Len and Mick hug
last-bit-of-the-season Ray going "BAMBI?!" when they see the dino

Why Captain Buggy Might Be The Most Important Character In One Piece
Who is the most important character in One Piece? Luffy? I mean, if you're a CASUAL fan, I guess I could see that. Gol D. Roger? He did set off this whole "Golden Age of Pirates" thing, but he's been dead for, well, all of the series, so I can't really place him in the top spot. Shanks? Well, he gave Luffy his Straw Hat and kickstarted the young pirate's adventure. Without Shanks, there would be no One Piece. But also no, it's not Shanks.
  It's this guy right here:
"But Daniel?" you say, figuring that I must have meant to insert a photo of Zoro or something, "That's Captain Buggy. There's no way he's the most important One Piece character." Well, first of all, you don't exist, because everyone loves Captain Buggy and no one would dare question him. And secondly, Buggy is the most important character because he represents everything good about One Piece. And what's good about One Piece? Well, for starters, the series has a massive amount of story and history that connects everything and lends every moment a sense of emotional and dramatic weight. And wouldn't ya know...
...there's Buggy and The Roger Pirates' Honorable Mention, Shanks, in the same flashback. So, yeah, Buggy perfectly symbolizes all of the interconnectedness of the Grand Line's past, meaning that when we see stuff like this...
...we get more out of it because their relationship has already been set up. But what about the relationships in the Grand Line's Present? One of the greatest aspects of One Piece is Luffy's ability to surround himself with powerful friends and allies, and the bonds that Luffy shares with his crewmates and fellow pirates often inform the themes of the series. Well...
Look at that! It's Captain Buggy aiding the future King of the Pirates (if Buggy doesn't attain that title first) in his quest to save Ace. And considering that Buggy has made allies with characters like Gaimon, Alvida, Mr. 3 and the hundreds of former Impel Down inmates that he helped rescure, we should extend the trait of "Good at befriending people and gathering support" to Captain Buggy as well. Luffy isn't the only person in One Piece with infectious charisma.
But a One Piece character means nothing unless they feel special. The best ones are usually colorful, have impressive, ingenious powers, and have a distinct personality that sets them apart from all of the other various creations of Eiichiro Oda. Are you checking off Buggy's boxes for these traits as I list them?
After Luffy dealt with the relatively mundane axe-handed evil of Axe-Hand Morgan, Buggy was one of the characters that established a template for fun One Piece villains, and in doing so became one of the most memorable ones. He's also the first villain to use a Devil Fruit in the series, so that's neat.
But a mark of a good character is usually in how they evolve over a period of time, and Buggy is not lacking in that, either. You have the Lil Baby Buggy from Roger's Crew, you have Buggy: Classic of the Orange Town arc, you have Hard Times Buggy from Impel Down, you have Marineford MVP Buggy from the Marineford arc, and then you have Warlord Buggy when he becomes a member of the Shichibukai in the post time-skip era. At the very least, Buggy's wardrobe is indicative of the care and change that Oda has dealt out to his characters over the past twenty years.
So, we've established that Buggy is an important character, but is he a star? Can he carry the weight of the franchise? Ummm, I think it's a little obvious. I mean, the dude has a starring role in the 3D2Y special and is gonna be in the One Piece: Stampede film. He's also playable in nineteen One Piece video games. Buggy isn't just a side character. This dude puts. Food. On. The. Table.
And while I don't usually like to get into arguments about who the most powerful person in the One Piece universe is, I will say this as a definitive fact: No villain has gotten closer to beating Luffy.
So what does this all mean, aside from the fact that Buggy should be on all One Piece promotional material going forward? Well, it means that Buggy, even if he isn't actually the most important character in One Piece, represents so many of the things that make One Piece a fantastic manga/anime. And he is a shining example of Oda's ability to craft characters that aren't just fun, but truly unforgettable. And if you're wondering where he goes from here, well I guess you're just gonna have to keep watching One Piece, which is available in full on Crunchyroll.
Also, it's Buggys birthday today, and I think he'd feel bad if I didn't write something nice about him.
Do you consider yourself a member of Buggy's crew? What's your favorite Buggy moment? Let us know in the comments!
