Here is the Art Of Abandoned Jewish Cemeteries of Hungary Zine that we worked on last year, its finally finished and ready for you to order and read it. We did a lot of research and work into this lovely little piece and we totally love it!!
You can order it here through Etsy, only a few in stock now!
Couple of words, why is it important to us, and in general: We created this zine with goals in mind – our one aim was to present and preserve at least a small part of the very rich cultural and and artistic values that we can find in the jewish cemeteries of Hungary. Our goal is to introduce the reader to the fascinating and interesting world of symbols of the jewish cemeteries, and also to preserve the memories of the former rural jewish communities of the country through this zine.
The zine’s aim also to raise attention to the state of jewish cemeteries in Hungary (and in Eastern- Europe in general). Today in Hungary there are approximately 1600 jewish cemeteries, most of them, according to some estimates close to 1200 of them are abandoned, neglected cemeteries. Due to the Holocaust and the extermination of the rural hungarian jewry, these cemeteries remained without owner and caretaker, and slowly they are going towards destruction. In many cases, these cemeteries are the only remained build heritage or sight that left of the once thriving rural, hungarian jewish communities.  A lot should be done in order to save this unique and important heritage – and this zine is only a small step in that direction.
Also please check out the Behance page of the zine:)

hi im new to the transformers fandom. i watched half of season 1 of tfa and all of earthspark and Thats It. do u think im qualified to read eugenesis??? or unqualified? or whatever will be more fun?
I mean, I can't tell you whether you're qualified or not to read a fanfic, but I can give you some context so you can decide if you want to:
Eugenesis is a fanfic written by James Roberts (JRo) who would later go to write the fan-favorite comic More Than Meets the Eye in 2012, which is set in the IDW1/IDW 2005 continuity (more info on that here).
Eugenesis was published in 2001 (being a remix of an earlier, incomplete fanfic also by Roberts) when JRo was part of Transmasters UK (TMUK). A group of fans that would distribute zines, organize cons and collectively write their own fanfic continuity based on the Marvel UK comics (the UK version being different from the US version of the comics, more info on that here)
So, ideally, to read Eugenesis with full context, one would need to have read Marvel UK and the previous TMUK stories. You can find the first online, but a great part of the later has been lost to time. @polyhexian is currently working on an archive of TMUK stuff. Luckily, you can make do without any of these (like I did at the time), because Eugenesis comes with a helpful continuity notes guide whihc you can download here, along with the main text.
I would greatly advice to anyone to read that first, even if you have read Marvel UK, because it also covers TMUK stuff. Eugenesis is still going to be a tad confusing at times, but it'll make things so much easier to understand.
As for my personal recommendation, is Eugenesis good? Is it bad? Well, it is an experience, for sure, I'm obsessed with it. I adore how depressing it is, how it has some of the most touching lines I've read followed by the weirdest description choices and oh boy, does the prose drag at times. It's an amateur work in a way that makes it very raw and I love it, it truly is born out of love.
It has value as a piece of fandom history and as a fan of Robert's later work in Transformers. A lot of concepts that JRo introduces in his comics first appear here, and it's interesting to see his influences and the way his prose has evolved.
Now, this is very important, the way the fandom talks about Eugenesis it's as something very silly, JRo writing a fic for his mechpreg kink. And yeah, I also do that because a lot of the stuff in this is premium material for shitposting. But this is NOT something that's worth reading just for the lolz.
Eugenesis is a very depressing read with a lot of potentially triggering material. Including lots of robot body horror and death, some detailed, some just mentioned in passing. Also suicide, suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. One part goes into detail about a character's mental state before taking their own life, including allucinations, but no one here is ina good mental place. There are also death camps, with torture depersonalization and detailed inhumane treatment. This is holocaust with robots. One chapter is literally titled "The Anti Holocaust". It does throw you bones at the end, but at it's core is a book about futility.
Depending on what you can stomatch, it may not actually be that bad, some even wish it was worse. But I don't know you, so I want to give you a fair warning, and I repeat, it is not worth reading just for a laugh.
Sorry for all that infodump. You may do whatever you want with this information. I hope it helps and feel free to ask any more questions!

But for all Mr. Lewis’s political idealism, there was also something undeniably invigorating about conspiracy culture. This was a scene free from the stifling hegemony of sensible mainstream thought, a place where writers, filmmakers and artists could explore whatever ideas or theories interested them, however weird or improper. This radical commitment to resisting censorship in all its forms sometimes led to decisions that, from the perspective of 2023, look like dangerous naïveté at best: Reading countercultural material from the 1990s can feel like navigating a political minefield, where musings about the North American “mothman” and experimental poetry sit side-by-side with Holocaust denial. Conspiracy culture was tolerant of banned or stigmatized ideas in a way many of our interviewees said they found liberating, but this tolerance always had a dangerous edge. Still, Mr. Lewis looks back nostalgically on days when there seemed to be more respect and camaraderie. The aftermath of Sept. 11 and the war on terror presented, he said, a threat to citizens that the conspiracy-friendly left and right could unite over. Now the rift between the two was deep and vicious. He felt as if the ideas that had first attracted him to conspiratorial thought had been “weaponized,” pointing people away from legitimate abuses of power and toward other citizens — the grieving parents of Sandy Hook, for example — and at times involved real-world violence. When I asked Mr. Lewis when he first heard of QAnon, he told me a story about a family member who’d sent him a video that began with what he saw as a fairly unobjectionable narrative of government abuses of power. “I’m nodding my head, I’m agreeing,” he said. Then it got to the satanic pedophile networks. The conspiracy culture that Mr. Lewis knew had celebrated the unusual and found beauty in the bizarre. He had friends who considered themselves pagans, friends who participated in occult rituals. “The vast majority of them are not blood-drinking lunatics!” he told me. Some of his friends were no longer comfortable talking about their beliefs for fear of becoming targets. Others we interviewed told us similar stories: about a scene that had once felt niche, vibrant and underground but had transformed into something almost unrecognizable. Greg Bishop, a friend of Mr. Lewis’s and editor of the 1990s zine The Excluded Middle, which covered U.F.O.s, conspiracy theories and psychedelia, among other things, told me that as the topics he’d covered had become more mainstream, he’d watched the vitriol and division increase. “You’d see somebody at a convention who was frothing at the mouth or whatever, figuratively, and that’s changed into something that’s basically a part of the culture now.” Joseph E. Green, an author and parapolitical researcher, described how in the past, at conferences he attended on conspiracy topics, “there’s always a couple of guys in there who will tell you after they get familiar with you that the Jews run the world.” Mr. Green had no interest in such ideas, nor did he think they ran much risk of going mainstream. But somewhere along the way, conspiracy spaces on the internet had become “a haven” for the “lunatic fringe” of the right wing, which in turn spilled back into the real world.
It used to be more fun man

you know, its eating me up thinking about homestuck fandom jewish hate. (i use that term because honestly, what's pro-semetic?)
i only know of the oven joke in homestuck proper and the jewish wedding thing.
on my knees, do enlighten us
For "official" stuff there's also the whole "Einstein is an idiot fraud responsible for the Holocaust" thing from the Skaianet lore drop
But for fandom stuff... Again, I wasn't super paying attention to it at the time because no one was really talking about it and it was primarily happening between groups that I felt it was like... Not my place to chime in on? Which is why I wish I knew of Jewish people who were around at the time talking about it (or that I could find sources of them talking about it then)
Part of it was the whole "do Jewish people count as POC" discourse when one of the black bnfs ran a... I think it was a fashion zine for Homestuck characters of color and people asked if Jewish people counted and the response was "Yeah you can have Jewish people if they're also not white" or something.
That same bnf had a panel at the first SAHcon (I just tried to look it up and I can't find it -- I don't know if it's one of the ones that got taken down or if I just didn't save it to my SAHcon playlist or what) where some commenters called them out for saying something antisemetic and they and the other bnf in the video defended the statement
God I even tried looking it up like "homestuck [creator name] antisemetism" but the only thing I got is said creator may be working on like Big Stuff now which was another issue when I think in like 2020 it was announced they were working on a not-homestuck game that was set in an area of the US that traditionally had a lot of Jewish people and yet there were no Jewish characters in the game so it really did seem like a pattern with them in particular, but also the bnfs all circled wagons around their own and most of them got hired on as WP staff or contractors at one point or another (this person as well, though I don't think their contributions ended up being much (which isn't a dig against them just the state of WP at the time))
Then there was the usual "Hey saying "Vriska did nothing wrong" is literally a play on "Hitler did nothing wrong" so what if you didn't say that" but I mean that is something that's been going around for like.... years. I don't even know when that first started, so I don't want to use it as a particular example of the antisemetism of the time.
And then there's this.... I've mentioned this in a previous post but
Tumblr media
I'm not saying this was intended as a dog whistle, but I think it highlights that this team/these bnfs were really not thinking about antisemitism (even though there was at least one Jewish person on staff/in this group iirc) because there is no way you would make this big important thread about leaving and say you're leaving the people with "14 characters" when a big white supremecist dogwhistle is "the 14 words" -- I was thinking it was strictly antisemetic but I did look it up and it's white supremecist in general and so considering how extremely into activism and BLM they showcased themselves to be you'd think they would have caught that like... it's not a good look? Again, I don't think they actually intended it as a dogwhistle, it's just extremely weird
But everything I said feels flimsy and weird because I don't have sources to back any of it up and I only half remember stuff which is why I've avoided getting too deep into it before
But this is what I, a fairly clueless white non-Jewish person noticed and remembered.

for the general strike tomorrow: consider making a piece of art for the jews. fifth night of hanukkah, light the fifth candle on the menorah at sundown because the holiday is about them; the art can be writing, drawing, filming, music — anything. make a zine about your feelings, your thoughts. write a poem about your grief. paint a picture of the way you wish the world looked. look into jewish cuisine, like latkes, matzo, sufganiyot, black and white cookies, israeli/pearl couscous, krantz and babka, rugelach, kugel, so many delicious things to choose from! surround yourself with music made by jews, from classical music to christmas music (yes, really) to jazz to heavy metal and let it inspire you. may i also ask in boosting jewish art, too: it’s a very rich, very humble culture, so you’ve got thousands of years to choose from. read stories about the holocaust and start searching into holocaust survivor stories (they’re not for the faint at heart, just a word of warning). it doesn't have to be big, even a doodle is enough. they’re afraid of your, our, voices, so speak in whatever way that rings truest to you.
also consider supporting jewish businesses or businesses and people that are supportive of them and/or of israel (e.g., starbucks, haägen-dazs, tillamook although i’m not sure if they’ve said anything they do make tasty ice cream, also yours truly). point out that what these “free palestine” fuckers are asking for is literal genocide against the jews and israelis and no amount of “but i’m not antisemitic” ass-covering is going to change this. “free palestine” is a delusional, jihadist statement calling for violence and terror against the Jews and anyone who says it is a bloodthirsty antisemite and i have a nagging feeling they won’t wake up to this any time soon.

the sunset one is a variation of the "lipstick lesbian" flag. i think the "lipstick lesbian" pride flag was made specifically for femmes, but i don't really know. anyway, the sunset variation was apparently made because the creator was "racist, biphobic, and transphobic" (claims i cannot possibly verify, as they're made by libfems/tras and the blog the claims are reportedly about has since been deleted). basically, the sunset lesbian flag is the tra pre-approved version of the flag, and as such, it may be a bit divisive in radfem/lgb spaces, since it is largely made for and by those who deny sexed realities such as homosexuality, and include opposite sex individuals in same-sex attraction and homosexual spaces.
the one complaint i do understand about it is that the lipstick lesbian flag excludes butches, though i suppose that's the point of a flag specifically for femmes.
the most widely used pride flag for lesbians in radfem and lgb-exclusive communities is the labrys, which comes from a classic lgb zine and was produced by a gay man. however, that flag is controversial due to ethics fights about the inclusion of the black triangle, which was used in the holocaust to represent "asocial" individuals. lesbians were reportedly included in that group, and it was likely a measure by a gay man to give lesbians something to reclaim in the same way the pink triangle might be something gay men reclaim the pink triangle. however, the symbol was also reportedly mostly used for romani people in the genocides of the holocaust, which calls into question the sensitivity of its inclusion.

Hello there! Thank you for pledging to donate proceeds from the Moon Knight zine to charity. That is wonderful commitment to make.
As a Jewish person and a Moon Knight fan, I am recommending that you choose a Jewish charity that has no connections to the Israeli Government. I know that Magen David Adom does not receive money from the Israeli Government directly, but it is still associated with the State of Israel.
Instead, I would like to recommend donating to a Jewish organization that does not directly benefit the State of Israel.
An example might be donating to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.
This is information from the Museum's website (ushmm[dot]org):
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum works every day to rescue Holocaust evidence, confront hatred, and prevent genocide. Your contribution will make an immediate and direct impact.
$36 Rescues Holocaust evidence
We can translate photo captions that help us honor and remember Holocaust survivors.
$50 Educates new generations
We can give a teacher the classroom resources to reach 150 students.
$100 Helps preserve the truth of the Holocaust
We can make 1,000 historic documents digitally available to people worldwide.
Thank you so much for your input! I've gotten a similar response, and the previous charity has been removed from the poll. I'll definitely look into adding this to the poll in replace of the previous!
Apologies to everyone for being neglectful in adding the previous charity.

"the images he owned were legal when he accounted them, further proof that the man was not a pedophile" Ma'am, I don't give a shit about what the States deem "legal", You're literally defending a man owning a magazine of CP.
He was using it in his controversy-seeking art with the intention to upset/shock and it was completely legal until weeks before he released the issue in question. A pedophile would have kept the magazine to themselves and jerked off to it in private, not purposely publish it with a collection of other upsetting/controversial images with the intention to disturb/upset (he didn’t publish it next to sexy pics he published it next to holocaust images and crime scene footage). He was literally the first person to get in trouble for it so there’s a good chance that he just didn’t take the new law seriously/saw it’s potential for being extended to art censorship and wanted to protest against it. That would be like if tomorrow they made a law that made gore illegal and sent Plaguedmoth and Disturbedreality off to prison for videos they covered months ago. I’m literally a cp survivor and I’d be mad as hell at anybody circulating images of my abuse but I’d be less mad about them being used in an edgy art project that was taken too far than to have it be the private wank fodder for actual pedophiles. He was an edgy boi who flew too close to the sun, not a child predator. Also it was a single image it wasn’t like he had an extensive collection it was a single image that he used with the intention of shocking/disturbing in his zine. There’s a wedge between that and wanting to fuck kids.

Gottfried’s perhaps most fabled minutes on the show occurred one late-’90s morning when he wasn’t even scheduled to appear. A German-accented woman called in from Los Angeles. She explained that she worked as a babysitter for the filmmaker Amy Heckerling, who had dispatched her to pick up Gottfried from the airport. (He was too cheap for a cab.) The woman furiously recounted how, during the car ride, she had informed the comedian that her parents were Holocaust survivors. Is it any surprise that Gottfried immediately began cracking Holocaust jokes? Such was his superpower.
Stern got Gottfried on the line. The comic sounded as if he was still in bed — but, like a samurai who has been attacked in his sleep and leaps to battle, he gamely began peppering the poor woman with more Holocaust jokes. Eventually, horrifyingly, the comic invoked the child the caller was babysitting: “Can she sit on my lap while you tell her about the Holocaust?” he queried. Like his later “Aristocrats” recital, it is a brilliant double negative: Gottfried follows one ghastly subject with something even more distasteful. The world thus gets contorted into a joke, the punch lines batting away our deepest woes.
A few years ago, I wrote about these Stern show segments for my comedy zine, The Lowbrow Reader. The essay grew from a chance encounter I had with Gottfried at the home of Professor Irwin Corey, the anarchic comedian and the other subject of the piece. Corey was deep into his 90s but, like Gottfried, emitted riotous humor in his every step. It struck me that Gottfried provided the rare connection to the fabled funny men of a much earlier era: unrestrained, uproarious and often Jewish comics who were set on gaining a laugh at the expense of all else.
