* .  ♡             looking back at it  ,  ellie would say that having a one night stand on risa had been the best thing to happen to her.  it had been a solid six months on board the enterprise  -  with the same group of people to greet every morning.  it had started to get a little old (what with ellie shifting every few weeks or so).  her ability had seemingly disappeared all of a sudden  ,  she was unable to do so anymore  ,  even when she was least expecting it.  like the universe was trying to tell her that she was MEANT to be here on this star ship  -  that was just starting on their journey into the stars.  it had frustrated ellie to no end.  what with only a handful of people knowing her predicament  -  the capatain (it was him that she had appeared out of nowhere in front of).  the science officer (because who else but the resident vulcan on board).  the chief engineer (for some reason or another).  and the chief medical officer (for obvious reasons).  they had made ellie feel welcome  ,  as much as they could  -  gave her a back story (the poor chef was a little put out when @dreamedbeyond​ had said she would be helping out in the kitchen) and well the rest was history.

                      it wasn’t hard for ellie to fit in.  her cooking was enough for her to win pretty much then entire crew over with.  especially the captain.  it was almost like fate that they had hit it off so well  -  maybe it was because of the dog.  ellie almost woke the entire ship when she realised that the captain’s dog was a beagle (she may have screamed).  that night had ended up in a long conversation in the mess hall about her own beagle back home.  whom she missed dearly.  which meant that she had every right to spoil porthos to no end.  but then it would turn into conversations about her adventures  -  where she had been before she ended up on the enterprise.  late nights chatting in the mess hall  ,  the kitchen  ,  then turned into his quarters.  she knew the human race so well that it wasn’t a surprise when rumours had started to float around the ship.  hoshi was the one who actually told her about them.  though  -  it made her a little fuzzy inside.  the young australian knew that the tension was there  ,  she would have had to be blind not to see it  -  but they were both professional  ,  they promised they wouldn’t act on it.

                                                  until the night that they did.

                       “ look - ” ellie had started before she even got all the way into his quarters. porthos was immediately on the bed yipping at her for attention  -  tail wagging a hundred miles a minute. “ what ever trip said - ” she continued hand reaching out to pet the beagle on top of his head. “  he was the one to be mugged not me  ” though she never got to say anything else when jonathan had cut her off. his lips placed over hers  -  her legs stumbling backward ever so slightly.  if he hadn’t grabbed onto her waist  -  she was certain that she would have fallen over.  her own hands reached up to grip onto the collar of his uniform.  she pulled away  -  teeth biting down on his lower lip before letting go. “  ... what ...? ” who knew that bragging about the alien she had sex with on an alien planet would have moved this along very nicely. “ what happened to not doing anything about it ? ” this certainly was a first kiss to remember.
