[image id: An image of @creepa-b0t-inc on tumblr's emergency commission sheet. All text is in the deltarune/undertale font. Each section end is marked with a white line connecting the white border that outlines the entire image. The background is transparent.
The first section reads "HI! I have built up the courage to open emergency COMMISIONS!!! I mainly work in Deltarune/Undertale style art. HERE ARE MY PRICES!!!! [It would be greatly preferred if you could provide any ideas or concepts for designs, because I am sadly not that good at design. I will try my best though!]" with a note off to the right side reading "!!! I SOMETIMES TAKE A LONG WHILE!!" and "!!BE PREPARED TO WAIT!!". All text is white, except for the 'HI!' which is yellow, and 'emergency' and the side note, which are in red.
The second section lists off examples and prices for commissions. The top left has white text stating "OVERWORLD SPRITES (next line) $20-$80 PER CHARACTER (next line) [depends on how many sprites you want]" with a side note in red that says "+$20 FOR ANIMATION". The bottom left has white text saying "DELTARUNE STYLE BATTLE SPRITES (next line) $40-$100 PER CHARACTER (next line) [depends on how many sprites you want]" with a side note in red that says "+$20 FOR ANIMATION". Below and to the side of this, there are 4 examples:
An image of Pibby from Learning with Pibby, a small light blue character with pink/light purple hair buns.
An image of a large sky-blue computer with a control panel and 2 rocket engines propelling itself into the air, along with two colder-blue speakers on the computer's left and right sides, also being propelled by their own respective rocket engines. The circle part of the speakers are alternative white and black circles and the computer screen is black except for a green outline of Queen from Deltarune.
An image of an angry looking robot character. it is a dull blue with light yellow accent marks and purple wires sticking out of its back. it's face is a pixelated red screen. It has thick, blue vent-hose like legs with 2 large blue, metal feet. They are accented with a caution pattern in light yellow.

There is a red bar on the left side of the screen that has white text next to it vertically reading "TP 0%" and a menu with a text box on the bottom containing Mae and Gregg, Mae with 150/150 HP and Gregg with 170/170.Mae's icon is in light blue and Gregg's is in orange. It appears as if the user is selecting what to do with Mae's turn, hovering over the fight button. In the text box below, there is white text that reads "* The cultists strike back!". The fight setting is in a grassy area in front of a red, sunken furnace with bricks surrounding it. On the left towards the top, Mae is holding a baseball bat behind herself with both hands, and below her Gregg is holding a crossbow with his right hand, his left hand in front of him, looking angry. On the right, there are two identical looking cuktists in brown, hooded robes and boots holding shotguns.
An image of a Deltarune-style battle scene with Night in the Woods characters. There is a red bar on the left side of the screen that has white text next to it vertically reading "TP 0%" and a menu with a text box on the bottom containing Mae with 150/150 HP. It appears as if the user is selecting what to do with Mae's turn, hovering over the fight button. Mae's icon is light blue. In the text box below, there is text that reads "* CASEY awaits your first move." The text is shakey, and all white except for 'CASEY', which is blue with glitching text behind it. The fight setting is in a starry sky area, with the head of the Sky Cat watching Mae. On the left is Mae in a blue color pallette entirely except for her pupils, which are red. She is holding a baseball bat behind her with two hands. On the right is Casey, a shadowy cat figure whearing a long coat. He has glowing white eyes and facial features with a glowing blue outline.
The fourth section begins with red text that states "THINGS I WILL NOT DRAW:" with a lower opacity, larger 'NOT' behind the main text to create an echoey effect. Below this is a bulleted list in white text containing "NSFW, RACIST/BIGOTED THINGS, NFTS, (and) ANYTHING I DON'T WANT TO". Beneath this is a bit of text that says "SO, feel free to message me on either Tumblr or my Discord, @creepabotinc." with '@creepabotinc' in yellow text. /end id.]

Todays rip: 13/04/2024
Locked In The Underground
Season 4 Episode 2 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume C
Ripped by Jamangar
youtube
Whaaat? More Undertale?? Say it ain't so!!
Look, I lamented it a bit over on Logan Paul's Shop, and its something you can even see for yourself by viewing the Undertale tag on the blog archive. In terms of games to have been featured on the blog one way or another, Undertale/Deltarune are leagues ahead of the competition. And I am torn on this, still. Like on the one hand, I want the blog to cast a wide net of rips, to not just cover my personal favorites, but to cover as much of SiIvaGunner's history and growth. But on the other hand...Undertale IS a huge part of that history and growth, it has been since the very beginning, and as I discussed in Your Best Nightmario and Shiny Smily TALE the game's very DNA and themes is just a perfect fit for everything that SiIvaGunner stands for. Well, there's that - and there's how rippers like Jamangar just keep absolutely outdoing themselves with how much leverage they can get from this 9-year old game's soundscape. Its rips like Locked In The Underground that remind me of WHY Undertale rips are so prevalent on here.
If you've been reading for a while or just kept up with SiIvaGunner in general to the degree I have (or are from the team!! hi team!!), you may well recognize Jamangar's name. Much like ShonicTH with Trial of the Heart and many others on the channel, Jamangar has carved out her own very specific niche in terms of what she contributes with. That niche is the same one you'll hear in World Out There and Story of Undertale: There are few SiIvaGunner contributors who have as much expertise in ripping Undertale as Jamangar. Yet all of these three rips feel quite different from one another - Story of Undertale is a magnificent journey throughout just about the entire Undertale campaign with instruments changing along the way, wheras World Out There was an incredibly resonant mashup/melodyswap, a full-on shot of nostalgia on all the senses. Indeed, Locked In The Underground follows their footsteps in quality, yet is excellent in a subtly different way - its just a flat-out banger.
I don't know what it is about Bruno Mars' music that makes it work so incredibly well in mashups. Perhaps I have BotanicSage to thank, with Pokemon GSC Is What I Like and 16BIT Magic both permanently etched into my soul ever since I first heard them - but Locked In The Underground takes on the very same challenge, and in my eyes passes with absolutely flying colors. I mean, it only takes a few seconds for the rip to sell you - as soon as you hear Mars' "oh-yeah-yeahs" followed by Undertale SFX playing to the beat, you KNOW Jamangar's made far more than a mere mashup here. It helps, of course, that CORE is already one of the most stand-out songs in the game, much like Colress' battle theme was to Pokémon Black & White's soundtrack in Light! (Potentialseeker Colress) - its hard NOT to get excited seeing a CORE rip knowing just how distinct of a sound any take on the track will have, due to the pure quality of the track underneath.
So much is done to have Locked In The Underground truly fit together. The melodyswap is fantastic on its own, having CORE's lead instrument play in tune with Mars' vocals yet rising high in volume to the song's chorus, and CORE's synthetic backing paired with the drums of Locked Out Of Heaven create such a unique soundscape to boot. But beyond that, there are tons of little flourishes - small segments where CORE's original melody peeks through in the backing, Undertale sound effects sprinkled in to censor expletives or punctuate key moments of the song...like Semi-Charmed All Star, you get the impression that Jamangar GETS both of the songs used, that she's "studied" how Locked Out Of Heaven works in order to have the mashup work so perfectly.
Really - Locked In The Underground is the kind of rip that just feels like a shoe-in for the blog, as one of the most popular rips made during 2020. Funny enough, beyond the obvious combination of Locked Out Of Heaven and Undertale, you could even read the rip's title itself to be referencing the feeling all of us had during the pandemic - sort of reframing its pleas and shouts, in a way. But then Locked In The Underground also isn't the kind of rip where I'm desperate to know more about its possible lore and inner workings: I know Bruno Mars, I know Undertale, I know Jamangar, and she made one of the season's cleanest bangers by doing what she does best. That's awesome.

Who has control when? Undertale/ Deltarune meta
Undertale and Deltarune play around with the relationship between the Player and the Player Character (PC). There's Kris, who has their own personality and can disapprove of actions the Player forces them to do, and in Undertale there's 3 people attached to the PC who could control at any one time.
So here are my thoughts trying to parse out clearly who has control when.
The Player
The Player. What are their motivations? What have they done? Are they evil? These are nonsense questions because the player is not a character, the player is a role.
The player is me; the player is you; the player is everyone who has ever played these games. When you boot up Undertale or Deltarune, you take on the role of the player. Is the player evil? I don't know, are you? We cannot talk about the player in theories or metas without acknowledging that the player is us.
(Which is why it's confusing and irksome when I see analyses that treat "the player" as if they are a character who definitely did certain things.)
So when playing Undertale or Deltarune, what do you have control over? On desktop, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to make the player character move, move the red soul in battle, and navigate menus. You can press C to open the menu, X to exit the menu (and in Deltarune you can hold X to walk faster), and press Z to select options and interact with objects.
You can save the game, reload a save, reset, close the game, and open the game.
You may be thinking those are just the controls, and yes, they are. I mean, what else did you expect? The choices we make while playing are on us.
There are times when we do not have control. For example, we don't have control in cutscenes. We don't have control of Susie during sections when we're focusing on her (tho we do have dialogue options and choices that do nothing).
Then there's the ending of Deltarune chapter 1, where the red soul is separated from Kris's body. If you try to move around, you'll see that the red soul does move, suggesting that our control of the player character is dependent on the red soul inside them.
Frisk/Kris
And now the player character, the PC, the player avatar. I feel these two have a similar level of control over their own bodies when you're involved.
(As a note, when I refer to "the player character" I'm referring to what Frisk/Kris's body does, not what they choose to make it do.)
They have control during cutscenes and have control when the red soul is separated from their body like at the end of the Deltarune chapters. (No, I'm not entertaining theories about Kris is being controlled by someone else when they're in shambling zombie mode.)
They also control how they interact with things. You can press Z to make them interact with things, but they have discretion over how that command is interpreted. (See: Kris refusing to look in the Asriel room in Queen's castle.)
Both are "silent" protagonists. Their speech is limited to dialogue options chosen by us, and we are not privy to anything else they say. If they say something we didn't tell them to say, we have to infer from the dialogue of others. (For example, Frisk telling Asriel that their name is Frisk.)
However, there's a key difference between Frisk and Kris.
Frisk doesn't show a lot of personality, and what personality they show depends a lot of what you do. They basically turn into the person that matches your choices, the person we mold them into. (See: how the narration of interacting with Mad Dummy before the fight changes depending on your LOVE)
(That narration is actually quite interesting. Not only does the narration about Frisk's thoughts change, "You feel bad [for tapping the dummy]" at LV 1 vs "[punch the dummy] Feels good" at LV8 or more, but also the actions. How the player character interacts with objects depends on LOVE, number of people killed, and the route.)
We know that Chara climbed the mountain, and it wasn't for a happy reason. In fact, it's very likely they were planning on committing suicide. Frisk and all the other children who fall into the underground are likely from the same settlement.
I wouldn't be surprised if Frisk was also planning on dying there.
If you heckle Snowdrake, there's a chance you'll get this line:
You tell the Snowdrake that no one will ever love them the way they are... | They struggle to make a retort, and slink away utterly crushed
Oof. Frisk is probably like, 10? I'm concerned where they got this from. Remember, at the end of pacifist, your options are to either travel the world as an ambassador or stay with Toriel. Going back to Frisk's human parents isn't presented as an option.
So they probably didn't have a good home life, and now they're relying on you to get them through the underground and to the end. Whether you force them to kill in order to do that will affect their attitude on killing and whether killing monsters is okay.
In short, Frisk is a very small, impressionable child who is what we make them.
Meanwhile, Kris has a very concrete personality and history, and while it doesn't show on their spite, it's clear from their facial expression, tone of voice, and the narration when you make them do something they don't approve of. (See: Basically most of the normal route dialogue choices in chapter 2 and how Susie reacts to Kris's tone of voice.)
They're not impressionable like Frisk was, and are just tolerating our possession of their body in the game. They have stronger opinions on what we should and shouldn't be making them do.
Still, neither is keen to scream at the top of their lungs that they've been possessed.
Chara
Go read A CHARActer Analysis first and then come back.
Unfortunately, the user that made that post was deactivated so here's a link to a reblog that has all the raw text and here's a link to a google drive with the original post screenshotted by @thepilotdogee
Yes, I know it's long but it's also the best analysis of Chara's character that I know of.
Now, I like the Chara as narrator theory, and considering that they tell us they woke up near the beginning and looked to us for guidance, it explains the narrator's attitude in pacifist vs genocide runs very well. I also generally agree with the conclusions made by this analysis.
However, there are a few sticking points.
For one, I think who's doing what when we as players don't have control in cutscenes is more ambiguous. Are the actions performed by the player character in genocide that we associate with Chara done by Chara or by Frisk?
Chara still mostly uses "you" to narrate what Frisk does when you have them interact with something in genocide, so Frisk still has control over how they interpret your commands. Did Frisk kill Flowey and Asgore at the end of genocide or did Chara? We have two characters who aren't us that could potentially have control during cutscenes, and the actions of one are always relayed to us by the other.
My personal belief is that Chara had basically zero control beyond narration and the UI elements. Chara isn't aware that Frisk is not us in genocide (possibly even in pacifist) because Frisk's attitude and thoughts always align with our choices.
(In the CHARActer analysis, it is explained how your actions as the player tell Chara and Asriel whether it was okay for Asriel to refuse to kill the humans when they died, and by being a pacifist you are showing them that choosing not to kill was better. Meanwhile, Frisk is relying on you to survive, and goes along with whatever you seem to think is correct. Both could've taken the initiative to do the last kills of genocide because both consider you their guide.)
...Then if you do genocide, you have to give Chara control of Frisk's soul to reset the world.
This means that at the end of a true pacifist, instead of Frisk getting the reins back to their soul, they now belong to Chara. Chara, who wants to force us to experience consequences for our actions, does the only thing they can do to affect us, which is to ruin the ending.

question can you infodump about your Little Guys (atbb) to me because ive been following for like a year and i still dont totally understand them past papyrus au. they are really cool tho
oh my god ok so. first off atbb is the acronym for my ask blog @ask-the-bone-boys that's been on hiatus for a little over a year now. it was born in 2018 out of the annoyance of everything au-centered being sans and also a way to explore how the classic "aus get stuck in the original universe" fic trope would go if it was somebody from the "original" story leaving their universe instead. and also an excuse to make papyrus miserable to be fully honest
also also im going to preface this by saying i ship selfcest and there is some selfcest in this story ok if anybody has issue with that then uh. oopsies (i can explain the way i view it at another time if anybody;s interested but im already gonna ramble like hell here so not rn)
with that groundwork laid im gonna put this under a cut lmao dont click this
for the sake of organization- part 1: RUSS
STARTING AT THE BEGINNING so some very basic backstory for this Undertale Papyrus specifically is that he and his brother are twins, they grew up bouncing around several foster homes until they decided to run away to live in the woods on their 14th birthday, where they lived in a bigass tent for three years until Papyrus got badly injured and they had to get help from the townspeople, who uh kinda unofficially adopted them and thats how "they just showed up one day"
then more time passed and around 3 years after getting to the surface Papyrus was booted out of his universe by Mysterious Circumstances. he got a very bad introduction to the multiverse because the place he landed was my own version of horrortale, undermunch. there he meets Spooks!
i have a whole side-fic where you can read in better detail how this goes but basically monsters don't turn to dust in this world and also Spooks is a cannibal, which Papyrus doesn't know until he realizes he was fed spaghetti made out of a rabbit monster. IN addition to that, Spooks has very different magic from other aus, that being it's pretty much all concentrated into a kind of blue-magic-venom that comes out of his teeth like a snake.
Long story short Papyrus has to escape from Spooks somehow, and that's how he learns he's able to move through universes by himself. It still takes him a while to learn how to without being in a life-or-death situation, but that's ok because almost every other universe he goes to after that puts him into a life-or-death situation :>
and then FINALLY he gets spat out into a variation of Underswap, where he meets Honey. this one's a bit spoilery because i haven't finished writing this fic yet BUT its ok because this will be so so so disorganized. anyway so Papyrus is scared of Honey at first because he's been getting completely fucking obliterated by the multiverse (his leg is broken and he's wearing a chest plate he stole from a different papyrus who died in front of him) but Honey is relatively patient with him and lets him stay on his couch on the surface. This is where Papyrus gets the nickname Russ!
Russ is dealing with a broken leg when he shows up in this universe, so he stays with Honey for a little over three months while he recovers from that as well as (some of) the multiverse traumas he'd been collecting up to that point. The main things that he still can't shake are nightmares, trust/attachment issues, and EXTREME food paranoia. he refuses to eat anything he hasn't prepared himself, and even that can be a struggle. Also, because of how long he spent without getting it properly treated, his leg never fully heals.
He starts getting really really homesick the longer he stays in this universe. It builds up over his whole stay, but only starts to get Very Bad after he gets the cast off of his leg. Honey's home is extremely similar to his own home, and sometimes just seeing him and his brother interacting with each other makes Russ upset.
OH I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT THE CODEPENDENCY ok so at some point Russ just starts completely clinging to Honey and Honey doesn't know what to do about it so he just kinda. unintentionally feeds into it and this turns into Russ sleeping in Honey's bed and blah blah blah eventually this becomes a problem for Honey because he doesn't know how to address Russ's homesickness and clinginess without hurting him somehow even though Honey is extremely stressed and actively burning out
Then Russ overhears Honey venting to Undyne and feels. crushed. And he reacts incredibly rationally! By avoiding Honey as much as possible! But it does not take him long at all to break down and the two finally have a chat about boundaries. They work out a plan together that Honey thinks will genuinely help and Russ thinks will get himself off of Honey's back. The plan is that they'll figure out how to control Russ's world-hopping ability and get him back home.
The idea is that if he's able to control when and how he leaves, he can control where he goes. Then, when he inevitably lands in his home, he'll pop back in Underswap and tell Honey how it went. Because he can control it! Of course!
Honey gives him one of his hoodies and a photo camera to remember him by. Russ tries to figure out what it was in the past that might have helped him jump universes, which was the desire to be just about anywhere other than where he was at that moment. So, he just, thought about going home instead!
And it worked! And he left Honey's universe! And then he realized he didn't land at his home at all! And when he tried to go back to Honey's universe, he went somewhere entirely different as well! And he never saw Honey again! Wahoo!
This is the point where he just becomes a complete mess I'm not gonna lie to you, he starts drinking even though he really really REALLY hates alcohol, he only eats enough to stay conscious, he gets into fights just for the adrenaline rush, and only stays in one universe long enough to confirm it's not his home before either leaving for the next one or collapsing somewhere and hoping he doesn't get attacked while he sleeps for two hours
then he lands in Edge's universe and this needs a part two now OOPS

Actually wait, wouldn't Secret Someone Frisk be afraid of Deltarune ending? After all, if they got kicked out of a world they were the main character in, then whats to say it won't happen again in this one. I can't imagine the cryptic (and way too unhelpful) Gaster explaining much before he added them to Deltarune.
Or maybe they fear the worse option... Kris ends up being booted. After all, they ended up being the main character and were kicked out, so they surely wouldn't want it to happen to someone else. Maybe that's their conflict with the Fun Gang, them either trying to stop the conflict from ever ending so they will never have to risk it OR trying to get the SOUL so that they can be sure only they will suffer from anything. After all, they evidently have a pretty low self esteem (judging the Sans+Papyrus+Flowey save them ask and the Prison asks) so I can imagine them being some kinda martyr, suffering so nobody else will have to.
i mean for frisk them being removed from undertale was bc of the choice at the end, the player choice "i have places to be". they're just an npc now so they probably think theyre safe here :0c but them wanting to keep A Conflict Going or wanting to get the soul to protect Kris does feel like something they'd do :'] i Am just developing this au/theory based on other people's input at this point bc i think i originally wanted to keep stuff vague so i could rework it as chapters came out Until the actual strange someone is revealed ! but frisk trying to do the good/right thing but it going wrong/ their perception of what's good/right being warped feels very. real
also frisk's thing w the soul had to do w their perceived dependency on it ! a thing I've been thinking abt ks frisk has no backstory and no other characters to fill in those gaps, they don't know why they went to mt ebott. the first thing they remember is Falling. they do not remember a point where their actions weren't dictated by the soul, and well having come from a true pacifist ending, the soul did all the right things, they got the good ending ! but now they don't have it and everything is going wrong for them. they've become an antagonist bc they wanted their happy ending. i feel like I'm just waxing poetic but idk i just really enjoy this au/theory there's Intricacies it's all very Intricate to me

@cashandprizes has handed me the keys to the kingdom and now that means I get to info-dump about EVERYTHING I've had in mind while designing each and every one of these characters. To start, welcome to...
Laveau's Redacted Design Notes: Bloodbound Edition I
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Without further delay, let's get into it.
Darlin's design incorporates elements from their pack since I wanted to visually show similarities between them and the pack by having them share tastes in clothes. It also was me solidifying my HC that the pack rubs their fashion sense off on each other. (David), Darren wears a leather jacket and a belt with a silver buckle; (Asher), they sport a choker and high waisted pants; (Milo), they also wear ripped shirts and share boot colors; (Christian), they both wear gloves.
The floral print on Sam's shirt is actually a Chrysanthemum; It's a flower that carries the symbolic meaning of devoted love, loyalty, happiness, longevity, and joy–appropriate to his role in Darlin's story. More specifically, given the color of his shirt, Sam represents a red Chrysanthemum which also represents deep love and passion. They're also flowers that have medicinal properties too!
Vincent's jumpsuit is designed specifically to reference a mechanic's jumpsuit given his love of cars. The jumpsuit is printed with a rose floral pattern which–in addition to the pearls around his neck(which is queer symbolism)–are symbols of Aphrodite, something I find fitting given the similarities he and the goddess have.*Vincent was also deisgned with the intention of him looking like a fuck boy, his blonde bangs also were meant to reference fangs
I said this on twitter some time ago but Alexis being Persian was something I wanted to run with given how desired Persian women were to the colonizers and outsiders of the country long ago (and still are today), being objectified and simplified without regard to their humanity. Much of her design choices are based on the idea of desire, her likeness to Betty Boop (a heavily sexualised character), her sweater having roses (flowers that represent love and desire), her dress, her balletcore-inspired outfit (being a reference to ballerinas–which fun fact, they used to be used as prostitutes after shows for patrons) are all a part of the larger bit. I also made Alexis a WOC for the specific purpose that anytime a WOC is presented as flawed and beautiful, they are immediately lined up to be femme fatales or villains–call that meta commentary if you want. *again, yes, I'm of the school of thought where we HC Alexis as a flawed person cuz canon ain't saying enough.
Lovely's design is heavily inspired by several gaming references; their post-inversion design includes a sweater that reads "reset", a reference to undertale and fitting regarding the fact that it's a post-inversion design; their pre-inversion hoodie reads "game over" on the front which I will admit is a morbid joke foreshadowing their turning; their color palette is heavily inspired by Raiden Shogun from Genshin Impact; the controller symbols on their sleeves in the pre-inversion design is an obvious playstation reference, and the "NPC" on the sleeves of their post-inversion design is a small nod to the fact that Lovely, at the time of designing, did not feel like a very active listener (still don't, to some degree) so I threw that in there!
Bright Eyes is heavily inspired by the Magical Girl genre of anime; her bikini top has a reference to Senketsu from Kill La Kill and a ribbon tie that resembles a part of Usagi's Sailor Moon uniform; her hair and choker are also inspired by Usagi and her color palette is based on Panty from Panty and Stocking. She is prime black magical girl material™️. *Her design also incorporates eye imagery due to their namesake and the fit is heavily inspired by Aliyahcore.
Tumblr media
Quinn's design is littered with Christian religious iconography. His choker and earring are all upside down crosses which are typically regarded as signs of evil, his other hoop earring was intended to draw close to halo (but ehhh, not really) and all of them being silver was a decision based on the facts that A.) Silver is regarded as a pure and holy metal and, B.) Silver is traditionally the weakness of a werewolf–which when contextualized with his involvement with Darlin can be read as him maliciously equipping himself with silver to hurt them or be seen as him being their weakness in some way.
Tumblr media
William's design is purely meant to communicate the fact that he is rich, elegant and powerful. For those of you who don't know, braids (especially well done braids) can be a sign of wealth because them shits ain't cheap to put in and best believe, Will has his done by the best in Dahlia. Speaking of symbols of status, use of the gold accessories and ruby are intentionally put there to emphasize his status as the Solaire clan's king. Additionally, Rubies are associated with blood, power and youth as well as acting as talismans of protection.
Sam's alternate design is actually based on a rattlesnake! The many fang shapes in it, the rattlesnake-skinned pattern on the band of his hat, the beads in his hair and the snake tattoo were pretty much dead giveaways. The choice to base him on a rattlesnake was all set in stone by the fact that rattlesnake venom also has healing properties in addition to being dangerous which I found fitting for Sam! *Fun fact: I kept thinking of rattlesnake Jake while I was designing him. That was also the reason he was based on a rattlesnake. LEAVE ME ALONE–
Tumblr media
Quinn and Darren both share thorn motifs but in different ways. Quinn's motif is meant to play on my interpretation of him being close to that of a cult leader, someone who reels people in at their most vulnerable and brings them under his allegiance, thus his use of the thorn motif was to be presented as a martyr/anti-christ figure. Darren's use of the thorn motif specifically ties into their guarded personality and affections towards Sam (a rose with thorns). The best part is that the shirt's thorn design, while alluring, also adds to the pattern or scars on his body and on his neck where Darr bit him. They fulfill the idea of both hiding and blending in with his scars to somewhat embolden them in my HC where Quinn uses his pain as a point of pride for attracting others whilst not being vulnerable enough to actually let them see his humanity behind the image he's built up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alexis and Darlin share rose motifs solely based on how they presented their affections to Sam. Alexis being having roses as she simply put herself out there as an option for Sam (queue the bachelor reference) and Darren being a rose with thorns (see above). Interestingly enough, Alexis and Vincent have this in common as well as two vampiric royalty who turned their royalty and presented their affections openly towards the people they prospectively were interested in.
Quinn, like Darren, wears a choker and while this initially was meant to push the image of a priest/cult leader, I also used this as a visual similarity to Darlin given their shared history.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the designs contain references to Greek Mythology. Vincent's pearls and rose jumpsuit are symbols of Aphrodite similarly to the patterns on Darren's pants and Alexis' top. Darlin however more so represents Aphrodite Areia/ Aphrodite the Warlike which was Sparta's epithet for her as a war goddess. Lovely's peacock earring is a nod to Hera which becomes interesting when you consider that Lovely's hair is shaped like lightning bolts which is Zeus's symbol.

requests are open!
but this time there are some guidelines and changes 🔽🔽🔽
i will only be taking certain requests. anyone can suggest any type of board that does not have media attachment, like name stimboards, animal / bug / sea creature, plant, fungi, etc stimboards, themed stimboards like kidcore, glowcore, cottagecore, etc, and only from media i am familiar with!
please be as descriptive as possible if you have preferences for what you want to see or what you do not want to see in your request (i.e only slime, no long nails, only pink and blue for colors, slow moving gifs only, no hands, plushies, etc)
(i am also very hyperfixated on bugs right now, specifically butterflies, moths, and mantids, but i will make a board for any bug! please just include the common name and the scientific name or perhaps even a picture so i can get the correct bug, and this goes for sea creatures, plants, and fungi as well!!)
don't be scared to send in a request, regardless of what it is, but just bear in mind i will only be able to take the ones i feel i can confidently complete in a timely manner. i also will not be completing requests in the order that i receive them, because i feel that fudges with my creative process.
i also still take requests for oc stimboards! the guidelines are located at the bottom of this page on my carrd ^^

✿.⋆Welcome! Pick a table to sit; whether it be inside, outside, or at a window, pull up a seat and I’ll get to serving you as quickly as I can!~♡

❀.⋆Here’s the menu, luv!~♡
✎.⋆About Me and This Blog⋆.➳
This is a Giant/tiny writing blog for both fanfics and original works with my ocs!
This is a side blog, my main blog is @selfshipping-shapeshifter where I chat with mutuals and gush about my f/os!
I have a few other writing blogs:
@self-shipping-selfcare where I write x Reader oneshots and headcanons (my main writing blog)
@letters-from-your-fo where I write exclusively letters (typically but not limited to love letters) from your f/o to you
@your-yandere-darling where I write exclusively yandere oneshots and headcanons (with fictional characters, my ocs, and/or just a yandere character type)
@fnaf-edits where my friend and I post exclusively Fnaf (he does edits, matchups, and kin assignments and I write oneshots and headcanons)
I go by Amber and Jonas and I’d really appreciate it if you used both names for me! I identify as genderfluid and a trans man; male, female, and nonbinary; and my pronouns are He/They/She. I’d really appreciate it if you mix up my pronouns/gendered terms when referring to me (ex: “Where are they, I saw them a while ago? Actually, I think he might be in his room. She’s always on her computer writing something.” or “He’s in here, but they’re too busy on her computer writing something.”) but if you must refer to me with one set of pronouns, I prefer they/them or he/him rather than just she/her
I’d also appreciate it if whenever you request something you make it seem like you’re ordering something, like from an actual cafe. For example you could say; “Could I order a Giant (Character/Oc) x Tiny Reader with extra fluff and a bit of spice?” or something like that based on your request? Of could you don’t have to, it’s just a fun thing I’d love to see and appreciate it if you played along :3

Some of the weird fetishes
✎.⋆Fandoms I Write For⋆.➳

And maybe more I can't remember at the moment (please don’t hesitate to ask me if there’s a certain fandom Ill write for, because I believe I write for more than this but I can’t remember all my fandoms)
✎.⋆Other Rules You Should Know⋆.➳
If you’re requesting something from Call of Duty Zombies, I’m still learning the lore and everything and I only write Richtofen as of now
For Danganronpa, I’ll write for the games only. I haven’t seen the anime yet, reason why I can’t write for it. I’ll also write for any character except Celeste and anyone from the anime and Ultra Despair Girls. My favorite characters to write for are Teruteru and Hifumi
For the Super Mario Bros Movie, I’ll only write for Bowser for right now
For Villainous, I haven’t seen the show yet but I have seen the shorts so I won’t write for anyone from the show only yet
I have the right to reject a request for whatever reason (I think I can’t write it, it’s not a fandom I’m in, I’ve already written something too similar to it, I’m uncomfortable with it, etc) and I might either answer your ask politely rejecting your request or I just delete the ask
If I'm obsessed with a certain fandom I'll be more focused on writing for it but I don’t mind if you request something from a different fandom (though I prefer if you request something from the fandom(s) that I’m currently obsessed with)
I’m a lazy procrastinator who fears I won’t be good at interpreting the characters well. It might take a while for me to finish your request because I either procrastinated, didn’t know how to write the character you requested, or both. Another reason why I wouldn't finish a request quickly is because I had a lack of motivation and/or inspiration which has been happening a lot recently, so if your request takes longer from that then I sincerely apologize
Please be specific when requesting something, if you aren't specific I'll assume you're fine with something random. And for polyamorous relationships, please specify the relationship (ex: Is Character A and Character B dating each other and the reader or are they simply friends who are both dating the reader?)
Crossovers are welcome here, the only rule is it has to be in my list of fandoms. You can still ask me if I know a certain TV Show/movie/video game/book/anime. If you request anything anime, chances are I don’t know it since I haven’t seen a lot of anime. I want to watch more, though (at some point)
Please be respectful and I hope you enjoy your time here!
✾.⋆I hope you enjoy your stay~♡

Adding on to the Undertale I guess-
Um, Grown up AU! Don't ask why they're all similar ages, they just are. In the Au, da kids did too many resets, glitched the timeline and somehow pressed the reset button all at the same time. Somehow, all of them became corporeal and most of the characters have been age-swapped! (As in the kids are adults and the adults are now kids) They now have to adapt to the new environment but don't worry, they're adjusting well...mostly
Chara is NOT the captain of the royal guard in this AU. (I'll let you guess who it is) but they ARE Asriel's right hand and know very well how to fight.
Frisk is the diplomat between humans and monsters (I think the barrier gets broken at one point in the au idk) but don't underestimate them cause, while they prefer to use words, they still know how to kick ass.
Blow the trumpets and make way for the king of monsters...KING ASRIEL DREEMURR!!! (If you couldn't already tell, he's kinda my favourite-) Mans has his cool glowing swords and fireballs but sadly does not have his lightning, comets or giant blaster skull thingy. Mah furry boi can still smash your face in though. Btw, on his shirt in the middle pic, it says: 'King Fluffybuns Jnr.' that you bet Frisk & Chara got for him.
For Frisk, I'd figured they'd be more adventurous with their style (they can absolutely rock feminine and masculine) with some more sporty wear but main style is still comfy. I wish I could've made their work wear more detailed, but I still couldn't think of much. I headcannon that they like to buy a bunch of pins and patches to just stick on their clothes. They get the others some pins and badges to but they're not that into it. They still wear some badges though.
In the game its kinda a trend that kids wear striped sweaters and I gave the stripes to Frisk since I think they're the most childlike in this au. Nothing derugatory, just more excitable, cheerful and playful.
As you'll probably have noticed, I gave Chara an Undercut and long hair. I just wanted to give them a different look to Frisk and I really like the beanie but again, they look almost too much like Aimsey. There's nothing wrong with that but looking back, I feel like the two have similar asthetics and the beanie made them look way too similar. I gave them combat boots cause that's cool and a different pattern on their sweater? Overalls? Overshirt? Idk.
I didn't really do much with Azzy other than give make him taller, give him a silghtly yellow beard, made his horns much bigger and gave him a different pattern on his sweater. I imagine him taking care of the flowers now and gave him a less armour heavy king outfit that his dad cause I'd assume he'd be less likely to go to war on the humans.
Chara and Azzy kept the same colour palette cause I think it might take them even longer to adjust. I mean, these two were dead for centuries, one was an apathetic flower who committed mass genocide and the other was basically forced to commit mass genocide. I'm not pinning the blame on anyone but I think these two in particular still have a lot of trauma to overcome.
But they still have each other don't worry.
Umm, in terms of my style, I tried thicker lineart in some areas. It's most prominent in Azzy's design I think so let me know what you guys think.
Will I be drawing the rest of the main cast? Idk, probably not but who knows?
Idk what to name the au, maybe you guys can leave an idea?
Until next time my lovely marshiemallows!

Cyv Reads Homestuck - Act 4 Wrapup
... So I just finished Act 4.
Ummm..... How do I put this ... ....
I genuinely do not know how to put into words the intense feeling of excitement and satisfaction I am feeling. But I guess I'll try.
Let's just get it out of the way right away, best end of act animation yet, like hands down. The level of artistry, the dynamism of the camera and the animations, the excellent Toby Fox track, (I see now that bro knew how to use a recurring motif even before Undertale) it was just perfection. What an incredible way to finish off an incredible section of this story.
I'm going to hold off on going in depth into things like theories and predictions, because I feel I do plenty of that on my smaller liveblog posts and frankly it's getting so complex that if I were to lay them all out in a sufficient manner this post would be entirely too long for my liking. I would like to talk about some of what this act made me feel, however.
Something that was present in small doses previously but in Act 4 has been fully assimilated is the elevated way that everything is presented. Cinematic, I suppose, is one of the words I could use to describe it. But I feel it's more than that. It feels as though the team who put this together - obviously Hussie, for the greater proportion, but also those he worked with - had, by this point, entirely gotten a grasp on how to tell a compelling narrative with this particular format. The obtuse references and forum humor have been stripped back and toned down, not to the point where they are gone entirely, but enough that everything feels a bit more accessible, existing more as a part of its DNA, rather than its backbone. Instead, that space is filled with more authentic and illuminating characterization than we've seen at any part of the story so far.
In the way that a voice actor may settle into their role after a few seasons, by this point Hussie has mastered his already impressive knack for writing the unique voices of these characters and letting them just kinda bounce off of each other in ways that, despite being entirely silly and in the context of a science fiction epic, just feel so real, dude. Like, fuck, I love these characters. I didn't feel that way until this act, really. Sure, they had many funny and charismatic moments in the past, and I've gradually warmed up to them over time. But in this act, the veil (lol) really gets pulled away more than it has before, and what gets revealed is genuine connections between these friends, friends that are snarky and sarcastic and snippy with each other, but friends who care about each other, and are interesting, passionate people. Even the trolls, who could have easily remained joke characters and nothing more for this entire act without basically any issue, have been treated with the dignity of allowing more than one aspect of their personalities to peek through, surely to be explored further later in the story. For fucks sake, the faceless adults, only seen from the context of the kids before this point, have even begun to receive some genuinely compelling revelations. I love these characters. All of them.
The lore/world aspects of Act 4, as I mentioned, are far too complicated for me to fully get into here. But what I will say is that this part of the comic has fully sold the grand scale of the overarching narrative. Whether its the greater knowledge brought forth by the trolls, or the ability of the animations to showcase how many moving parts are at play here, things have been set up with an astonishing amount of style. Getting further glimpses into this strange system of planets has been beautiful and fascinating, and the twists and turns in the development of Jack Noir as our apparent main protagonist have been enticing. Jack is certainly intimidating, and ruthless to boot, so the story has done a great job of setting up a looming threat to build toward, especially taking into account the ominous revelation of The Reckoning. On top of this, the time fuckery has hit an all time high, but despite that, its integration into the story has felt more natural than ever, and maybe it's just me getting used to this bullshit, but it's honestly starting to feel easier to wrap my head around. And even if not, it's extremely fun to watch pan out.
All this said, I remain super excited to continue. Again, if you enjoy hearing what I have to say about any of this, whether you're an old fan or maybe even joining me for your own first time, please, talk to me about it! Lemme know what you think, or what you thought, about all this crazy shit. I absolutely love having discussions and hearing from people who are veterans to this world compared to me. It makes my day to see that someone can reinvigorate their interest in this through my experience. I gotta go to bed (writing this at like 3 am) but man I wanna start Act 5, and of course will post more updates when I do. TTYL <3

HALLOWEEN RECAP
-Went inbox trick-or-treating and got a cool ice cream from @solsono
Tumblr media
I put this in my imaginary Sans Undertale pumpkin bag to keep it safe :) Thanks, Sonne :). You made a neurodivergent minor very happy (hope that wasn’t weird to say, Idk I tend to overthink while making posts…)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(You don’t have to keep reading from here, but it’s okay if u do)
-Next I MADE THE GRAVE MISTAKE OF WEARING HEELS
I was getting some boots the day prior for my Frisk costume but wasn’t paying attention to which type so… you can see how it went from here…
NEVER AGAIN
(I got some new boots later!)
-Then, I went to epic school dance and I was trolling with people to get them to dance with me cuz y not. And there was this one girl who we practiced dancing with together! I saw her later while trick-or-treating for the last time. I think I raised her confidence to dance.
There was also this one very athletic boi and I was the most athletic girl in my class so I wanted to dance battle him so I screamed
“DANCE WITH ME YOU COWARD”
I did that
I front of everyone
///^_^\\\
And someone was filming…
So I’m probably a viral meme somewhere…
I also got a picture of me at the dance but I kinda don’t wanna show it cuz of privacy reasons.
-And now it’s trick-or-treating time in IRL
Got some new boots, meet up with friends, got candy, traded all my Twizzlers (hope I spelt that right), met Sans, it was pretty fun!
Conclusion:
This was an EPIC Halloween! Although this is my last year trick-or-treating, hopefully I can get my GODDAMN INBOX TO FUCKING WORK and leave it open next year for my fellow inbox trick-or-treaters
Anyways that’s all cuz I somehow got 14 notifications from my friends within a minute wtf…
(15 now…)
Happy Belated Halloween!

Dunked on: a collection of thoughts reguarding sans
I like how sans just cheats. Specifically at the end of the genocide route. When you get there, youre expecting a fight, be it from asgore, sans, or whoever. When it finally starts, youre braces for it to begin, you know the rules of the game, youre prepared with your highest healing items
And then sans goes first. You arent expecting it, it hasnt been like that the entire game, and youre not even familliar with the mvoes hes using. You know how the blue soul works, assuning you played pacifist beforehand, but noones ever been able to physically move your soul. And then theres the gaster blasters, more moves you know nothing about. Everything flies at you so quickly, you almost instantly die. And the whole time youre confused as to why youre taking heaps of damage with what looks like poison chipping away at your health.
Your invcibility frames are gone, mentally youre thinking "thats not fair". And it isnt. Sans doesnt let you go first because you dont deserve to be fought fairly. Youre a mass murderer with too much unchecked power, noone in their right mind is going to want to fight you fairly. So sans cheats
Immediately after the first attack, you may fight, but by checking you find out how sans cheeses the game. "The weakest enemy, can only do 1 ATK". 1 ATK sure, he can only deal 1 hp of damage, but with the absence of your i frames, now replaced by the KR meter, 1 hp adds up. And it adds up fast.
Now maybe after checking him, you decide to try out your new weapon. But you cant. Sans knows you'll kill him in one hit, so he does something no other monster has until this point. He dodges. He dodges your attacks, breaking the rules of how the game is supposes to work. Monsters dont dodge, theyve never been able to. Sans doesnt care. This isnt a fair fight, and he never intended for it to be one. Everything he does is to get you to give up and stop playing, because that means you cant hurt anyone else. And playing a game thats unfair sure as hell wont want to make you play anymore.
Sans's attacks are unlike any other in the game. He plays dirty. Sometimes theres a pattern to be followed, sometimes there isnt, and you have to think on your feet in order to not get killed. His attacks dont give you any breathing room to speak of, you have to jump through tight spaces, inch your way between bones, its always at 100 and wont ever not be.
Then the turning point happens. Something stressed in undertale is that your goal as the player is to see what happens. You kill almost everyone just to see what sans will say, or to see how things play out. Its always you wanting to see whats next. So when sans presents you with the option to spare him, some might give into that desire, and click the button. This is tied for sans's biggest act of cheating. He puts you in a box, shoves it full of bones, and gives you nowhere to run.
Youve been dunked on. Sans says so himself. In an attempt to get you to stop once more, he says that if you really are friends, you wont bother coming back. Hes a sore winner, and he tells you to never boot up the game again because youre just that bad.
Now once you come back, and decide not to spare him, his attacks get harder. The screen blacks out, youre unprepared for what happens next, and the gaster blasters ramp up in intensity. And to make matters worse, he gets more blatant with his cheating. He begins attacking you during your turn, in the text box, in your menus, not enough to kill, but just enough to chip your health down to 1. Reminding you that this isnt a fair fight. It never was, and it wont get any easier.
The fight keeps getting harder, you only learn how his very first attack works now instead of when you needed to, and the quick attacks get quicker. All the while, sans appears to be getting more and more tired. So he issues one last attack before his so-called special attack one thats a combination of almost all of his attacks so far, and if you manage to survive all of that, he just grabs you and throttles you around the room like youre nothing. It doesnt kill you, but it does rub salt in the wound.
Then, after youve made it to the end, sans tells you what his final move is going to be. Nothing. Aboslutely nothing. This is the biggest act of cheating sans displays. Its as if you were playing chess, and the opponent means to win by never moving. Sans is going to keep having his turn forever. It doesnt matter how long you stay there, hes not going to give up. It never becomes your turn. Sans has won by initiating a stalemate.
At least thats how it is before you decide to play along.
The only way to beat a cheater is to cheat back. You do something youve never been able to before. That being having your turn during sans's you push the text box to the side, and then down, and press the attack button. Sans, still keeping up his cheating streak, decides to dodge again. But at this point you dont care. Mid sentance, you issue your first and final blow. Sans falls, bleeds, and realizes hes lost. Then, he simply gets up, and walks off screen. If he cant beat you or cheat the system, the least he can do is take away the satisfaction of seeing you die.
So yeah, sans cheats. He cheats a whole bunch. And i like that. Its such a frustrating fight, and i feel it was at least partially designed to be. Story-wise it also makes sense because why would anyone plal fairly against you, a murderer?
Im not sure how to end this off, so i'll just reiterate that i really like how sans cheats against you, and i hope hes drinking ketchup in undertale heaven.

A weird AI drawing exercise I did
Preface:
Let me preface this that I don't recommend this exercise as standard practice, largely (1) due to the [lack of] ethics surrounding AI-generated images as of late and (2) using AI-generated images as references is just a really bad idea (as they say: garbage in, garbage out). I just thought it would be interesting to talk about my overall experience.
The exercise:
Sometime before dream.ai became an app, I played around with it to see if I could prompt it to get a reasonable looking "Mettaton", the leggy robot from UnderTale. Since the character comes in three different designs (box, EX, and NEO), I had to do add the word prompt "bishounen" to get dream.ai to generate something that resembled Mettaton in the EX form or NEO form. But none of the generated images could correctly capture the fact that he has a heart-shaped core in his abdomen (left: The sprite from the game; right: AI generated image):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought it would be an interesting exercise to try and "correct" some of these images while still staying somewhat true to the design the AI spat out.
Tumblr media
I found it to be actually be somewhat difficult, because the AI was adding in a lot of small details to the point of excess, leaving little room to add in the iconic heart-shaped core. In the process, I ended up simplifying a lot of designs.
Results:
Tumblr media
These two best captured the likeness of the AI's output.
Tumblr media
For some reason, the AI generated capes in some instances. My sense is that it is mistaking the wings in the NEO form as a cape, or it may be picking up on fan-generated content where Mettaton has a cape (such as alternate universe designs of OceanTale or OuterTale). I did like some of the pointy boot designs, though, they somewhat reminded me of anime mecha designs.
Tumblr media
More capes. And one of them has a cane for some reason.
Tumblr media
Last batch. In one of the images, the arms were not in full view, so I decided to cheat and give him the iconic tube arms you see in the EX form.
End Discussion:
Although I was amused by the aesthetic looks of the AI images, the designs reveal themselves to be rather crappy when putting pencil to paper. Most of this is due to the heavy emphasis on difficult-to-replicate details over practical character design.
Maybe the only positive learning I got out of this was playing around with the hairstyles. :P

So for those of you who read The Flowers Are Blooming, my unfinished Undertale fic ... here's where it was going to go.
I have to put out a HUGE thanks to @derangedchameleon. They recently read through the entire It's Raining series and left a ton of comments that made me revisit the story properly for the first time in years - which made me realize, hey, I've got notes on the rest of the series, maybe someone would be interested in reading them!
So here you go. This is the chapter summary for the rest of The Flowers are Blooming. This is NOT the end of the series, however - that will come with the plans for EXP, originally intended to be the final story in the trilogy.
Content warnings: intense violence (including vaguely-described torture), hints of suicidal thoughts, past torture and abuse
If anything doesn’t make sense, please feel free to drop me a message! I’ll do my best to add more details.
Chapter 12: Sans walks back to the lab, thinking about his relationship with this Papyrus and how he doesn’t know how to confront him about any of his questions—why is Papyrus friends with a flower, and why is a little white dog following him around—without spilling the beans on the fact that he’s the wrong Sans. When he arrives at the lab, he can’t find Alphys and goes downstairs to the True Lab, where he discovers the Amalgamates. Alphys finds him and is forced to explain what she did. Sans is horrified to realize that she used Gaster’s blueprints to do this. Then he realizes that Alphys must have pure SE—which he might be able to use to power the machine. He brushes off Alphys’s concern and leaves, with plans to come back for the SE later.
Chapter 13: Flowey is torturing Papyrus and getting bored with it, even as Papyrus begs him to stop and says he can help him. Flowey is frustrated that Papyrus never fights back properly and resets, greeting Papyrus again for the not-first time. He has apparently killed Papyrus fifty-five times now, but Papyrus has never killed him in return. Papyrus asks Flowey if he’s okay and Flowey lies, saying he is, before snapping that Papyrus never kills him. Papyrus says that Flowey is his friend, and when Flowey presses, Papyrus says that he believes being true to himself is strength, and so is always recognizing that you have a choice—looking uncomfortable when Flowey asks if he knew someone who didn’t think they had a choice. Flowey runs off.
Chapter 14: Flowey searches Snowdin for information as to where Papyrus came from. He asks residents and finds that no one knows where Sans and Papyrus lived before they appeared in Snowdin. They apparently showed up right around the “accident” with the Core—which no one seems to know much about either. Flowey then spots Sans heading to his personal lab and glimpses Sans’s notes, seeing something about parallel universes. He realizes that Sans and Papyrus might have come from another universe, and decides to tell Papyrus about his brothers secret.
Chapter 15: Sans visits Alphys in the True Lab again. He’s been working on his machine—and sneaking SE from her stocks—and since he’s keeping her secret, she doesn’t question it. He brings her some dog food for the Amalgamates, even feeding one himself, wondering what kind of life it used to live and trying to comfort it in its pain. He finds himself exhausted by everything he’s been doing lately, as well as keeping all this from Papyrus. He boots up the machine that measures timelines and finds that there are a lot more, and a lot closer to each other, than anything he’s ever seen—showing that someone is actively creating them. He thinks it must be a human.
Chapter 16: Flowey is asking Papyrus a lot of questions, and Papyrus is a little confused by all of them. They’re talking about Hotland, and Papyrus brings up the houses there, referencing his own house. Flowey points out that he said he grew up in Snowdin. Papyrus corrects himself, but feels lost and unsure, saying that his old house “moved” and he isn’t sure where it used to be. Flowey keeps pressing into his past. Papyrus talks about having Dr. Japer, but again, gets lost in conflicting memories. Finally, as Flowey doesn’t let up, Papyrus gets very uncomfortable and changes the subject.
Flowey asks about Sans and gets Papyrus to admit that Sans is secretive, then brings up that Papyrus doesn’t seem sure about any of his past. Papyrus finds that he can’t remember a lot of details, including about Dr. Japer. Flowey suggests that he and Sans are from another world. Papyrus tries to deny it, throwing out reasons why that couldn’t be true, but Flowey keeps pointing out that things don’t match up that well—particularly Undyne and her lack of memories of their apparently-shared childhood. Flowey again points out that Sans doesn’t tell him things, suggesting that Sans thinks he’s an idiot. Papyrus tries to refute this and says that Sans is trying to protect him. Flowey suggests that Papyrus ask him. Papyrus says that Sans is happier if he thinks he doesn’t notice things, but Flowey still insists he try.
Chapter 17 (I actually finished this chapter!): Papyrus walks back home, thinking about everything that doesn’t make sense but also thinking that there has to be some kind of explanation. His memories are mixed up, and he thinks that his house could have been in Hotland, Waterfall, or even the Capital before Snowdin, but he doesn’t know why. He remembers Sans, though, always. When he gets home, he asks Sans, “WHERE DID WE COME FROM?” Sans is shocked and tries to brush off the question, clearly uncomfortable. Papyrus asks if he’s lying, saying that he thinks Sans knows the truth. He says that he knows there are things Sans doesn’t tell him; that he doesn’t tell him anything, and there must be a good reason. Sans tries to say it isn’t important, but Papyrus says that if it wasn’t important, Sans could tell him about it. Sans, again, says it doesn’t matter, then Papyrus says, “WE’RE NOT FROM SNOWDIN, ARE WE, SANS?”
Sans keeps trying to dodge questions, but Papyrus points out that Sans isn’t from Snowdin, at least, and that they’re the same age and he remembers them growing up together, but he also remembers other places. His mind gets foggy, and he thinks it’s been like that for a while. He tries to get Sans to tell him the truth, saying that he talks to him like he doesn’t know anything. Sans says, “i’m doing this for you, papyrus.” Papyrus says, “HOW CAN IT BE FOR ME IF I DON’T WANT IT?” Sans says he’s keeping Papyrus safe, and Papyrus asks what he’s scared is going to hurt him. Sans shouts, “everything!” and says that he can’t let something happen to Papyrus again. Papyrus tries to get Sans to tell him what happened, and when Sans tries to say that they’re happy here, Papyrus says that Sans isn’t happy. Sans calls Papyrus “Pap,” which Papyrus suddenly remembers, searching his memories and, again, finding them foggy. He says he doesn’t know what he remembers, and it scares him. He mentions Flowey, and Sans asks who he’s talking about. Before Papyrus can reply, Flowey reloads.
The world restarts to Papyrus coming up to greet Flowey. Flowey, internally, realizes that he’s been missing out on two of the most interesting people in the Underground, and that finally, he won’t be bored. As the two begin their training, Flowey hears a faint, high-pitched bark.
Chapter 18: Flowey watches the brothers for the next week, but gets no more answers. Flowey is talking to Papyrus, and Papyrus tells him how he thinks Sans puts on a show for him, and wonders if there are any people he’s honest with. Flowey asks if Papyrus wishes Sans told him things, and Papyrus says he wishes it didn’t make Sans sad to tell him things—but that he would rather be worried than Sans be sad, because Papyrus is strong enough to be worried, but Sans is “ALWAYS A LITTLE SAD.” Like he misses someone but won’t say who. Papyrus wishes he could be there for Sans and that knew what he was missing. Flowey asks if Papyrus is upset about Sans not telling him things, but Papyrus says he can wait until Sans is ready. Flowey presses, asking what if Sans is never ready—what if Sans thinks Papyrus is too stupid to know the truth—and Papyrus is uncomfortable, but says Sans will tell him someday. Flowey thinks that Papyrus seems to have come to terms with Sans’s lying like he didn’t in the previous timeline. Papyrus seems to have partially remembered another timeline, and that the only other person who seems to retain a hint of memories is Sans.
Chapter 19: Flowey continues to do experiments on Papyrus: killing him, saying different things to him, and so on. But Papyrus always bounces back, and Flowey gets no more useful information—Papyrus doesn’t remember the bad things Flowey does, or at least doesn’t speak up about them, but he does remember the hints he got about Sans. Flowey finds Papyrus hanging out with Undyne, who he hasn’t talked to in quite a few runs. Papyrus sees Flowey and invites him to hang out, too, but instead, Flowey attacks Undyne. Papyrus thinks that he’s just playing, but then Flowey kills her. Papyrus cries over her dust, and Flowey wonders whether Papyrus will finally fight back, now that Flowey has killed someone else. But Papyrus stays there, mourning his friend. Flowey, angry, gets Papyrus’s attention, asking whether he’s going to kill him in return, but Papyrus just asks why Flowey killed her. Flowey says he did it because he felt like it, and the only way Papyrus can avenge her is by killing him, too. Papyrus says that if he kills Flowey, Undyne won’t come back, and Flowey will be dead, too. He doesn’t want more people to die. Sans approaches, and when Papyrus hears him, he looks to Flowey, silently begging him to run away before his brother sees him. Flowey does leave, but just feels more frustrated.
Chapter 20: Flowey doesn’t check in on Papyrus again, and instead reloads to a few days earlier. Papyrus comes to meet him, and Flowey asks for a tour around Snowdin. Flowey attacks the bunny shopkeeper, slowly torturing her, then invites Papyrus to “show the lady what you can do.” Papyrus tries to convince Flowey to let her down, but Flowey kills her. He then goes on to kill more people, then Undyne. He goes on a rampage while Papyrus runs after him and tries to convince him to stop, but Flowey keeps going, determined to make Papyrus understand that he won’t change, and to give up on him. He finally snaps and shouts at Papyrus, telling him the only way to make him stop is to kill him. Papyrus says he doesn’t want to kill Flowey, and Flowey asks if his life is worth more than everyone else’s. Papyrus says he wants to help Flowey feel better. Flowey screams at him that his friends are dead and he has to kill him. Papyrus asks, “DO YOU WANT TO DIE, FLOWEY?” When Flowey is silent, Papyrus asks whether he’s not happy being alive, and whether he’s hurting people so they’ll hurt him back. Flowey tries to argue, and is about to kill Papyrus all over again, when Sans shows up and kills him with a blaster.
Chapter 21: Sans knows something is wrong, but not exactly what or how to solve it. He’s been having something like deja vu, feeling like he’s lived one day a hundred times. He thinks about when he attacked Gaster and did more damage than his attacks should be worth, but hasn’t revisited that since—now, it feels like it could be important. He takes another look at the timelines and sees that while some of them curve or taper off or merge, others suddenly stop. Some have already ended. He the machine ahead a few months, further than it can usually view, and sees it splitting into millions of different lines. The line they split off from is his current timeline. Alphys interrupts him, and he leaves, stopping her from seeing what he’s doing. He takes the last of the SE from the lab and goes back to his home lab. He adds the SE to the SE core, but finds it not even half full. Not enough to make the machine work. Sans attacks the walls around him in desperate grief, realizing that he truly is stuck here. He tells himself that he has to accept that, and protect the brother he has left.
Chapter 22: Papyrus is talking to Flowey and tells him he’s glad they’re friends. Flowey, having grown frustrated with Papyrus’s determined hopefulness, laughs at him, saying that Papyrus is lying to himself in thinking they’re friends. He’s only here because he’s bored and Papyrus is entertaining. He says that Undyne doesn’t take him seriously, and when Papyrus says that Undyne is training him and sees potential in him, Flowey blurts out that she’s stalling, and he’s too fragile to handle the truth about the Royal Guard. He says that Undyne thinks he’s an idiot, and so does Sans. Sans hides everything from him, thinking that he’s not strong enough, thinking that he’s too mentally young to handle it. He says that all Papyrus has are people who feel sorry for him and won’t push him away because they’ll feel bad, and that Papyrus isn’t worth friends, or anything at all. Papyrus says that he loves Sans, and Undyne, and Flowey, too. He asks whether it’s bad to lie to the people you love, bad to tell them you’re okay when you’re not to stop them worrying, bad to say it so much that you almost believe it yourself. He wonders if Sans would be mad at him if he knew. Flowey is taken aback. Later, he focuses more on Sans, seeing that Sans knows something is wrong but doesn’t know what to do about it.
Chapter 23: Sans practices his KR abilities and keeps researching the timelines. Alphys has made Sans a sparring dummy that will show him how much damage he inflicts so he can improve, though she doesn’t know what it’s for. Sans is walking through Waterfall, on the way to do more readings, when he sees a door in the wall where the room holding the machine used to be. Hesitant and scared—knowing the machine is no longer there—he reaches for the door, but stops before he can open it, determined not to drag himself or Papyrus back into this mess. He runs away, and in the corner of his eye, he sees a small, white, furry shape nearby. He runs back into his house and collapses against the door, sitting there until Papyrus finds him and carries him to bed.
Chapter 24: Flowey goes on another murder run, less out of anger and more out of letting his curiosity take over, and he kills mindlessly. He avoids getting caught, simply so he’ll avoid being stopped. He runs into Monster Kid, who doesn’t recognize him as the killer. He gets to ready to kill them, only for MK’s sibling, an almost identical monster with slightly different features, to approach. MK calls for help, and Flowey continues his torment. MK then yells for them to run and get help, and though reluctant to leave, the sibling finally does so, running back through the Core. He kills MK by throwing them into the Core, and resets shortly after. When he goes back, he looks around for MK, but can’t find a trace or mention of them. But he can find their sibling, who is now known by the nickname of MK and doesn’t seem to be missing a sibling at all. Flowey is confused but fascinated.
Chapter 25: Sans wakes up to Papyrus yelling at him, which is familiar at first until he realizes that Papyrus sounds afraid. He finds Papyrus crying, saying something is wrong with Flowey. He says that they have to help him because he’s killing people—he’s already killed Undyne, and is trying to kill everyone else in Snowdin. They both go outside and find Flowey. Sans wants to run, but Papyrus stays, and Sans stays with him, properly seeing Flowey for the first time—at least that he remembers. Papyrus tries to talk Flowey down, saying that they can figure out what the problem is and fix it. Flowey tries to kill Papyrus with a vine, but Sans knocks him out of the way. Papyrus’s leg is broken, but they’re both alive, and Flowey starts ranting at Papyrus that everyone in Snowdin is dead, and he’s going to keep going. Sans interrupts him with a blaster, and Flowey is shocked to find his HP dropping quickly. Sans shortcuts him and Papyrus out of there, and is horrified to find them in front of the door in the Snowdin forest. He pounds on the door, begging the lady to let them in. He doesn’t think she will, since she’s never opened the door, but just as he starts to pass out, the door opens, and the last thing he sees is Toriel’s face.
Chapter 26: Sans wakes up tucked into a bed with Papyrus next to him. He cries with relief, realizing that even though this isn’t his Papyrus, he’s still his brother, and Sans was terrified of losing him. The door opens and Toriel comes in to greet them. She checks on their well-being, explaining that she healed them both. Sans is surprised she came to help, but Toriel says that he’s her friend, and worth more than her vows to stay in the Ruins. She gets them some food while Papyrus keeps sleeping. She asks what was attacking them, and Sans says a flower killed everyone in Snowdin, and was going to head on to Waterfall and beyond. Toriel is horrified and silent for a while. She then says that she’s been in the Ruins for a hundred years, and she told herself she would never leave again because she lost hope for monsters. She couldn’t stay with them while they became the same sort of people who put monsters underground in the first place. She thought monsters were still like that, until she met Sans, who changed her mind.
Before they can say anything more, Papyrus briefly wakes up, saying Flowey’s name. When he falls asleep again, Toriel spends a minute caring for him, and Sans watches, briefly wondering if they could stay with her. But then Toriel gets to her feet, saying that she’s going to stop Flowey. Sans begs her not to leave, saying that she’ll die out there. Toriel says that she’s willing to die to save her people. Sans continues to beg her, and when Toriel says that people are dying, Sans says, “who cares about them?” desperate not to let someone he cares about die. Toriel goes anyway, and Sans can’t bring himself to leave Papyrus. For a while, he just sits there, before he decides to go look around the house. He thinks about the fact that he’s been making knock-knock jokes with the lost queen for six years, and how this house looks like something his Papyrus would have made, if he’d had the chance. He finds himself regretting what he said, realizing that he sounds like Gaster, and realizing everyone who he was willing to let die. Then Flowey pops up beside him and Sans fires a blast, but Flowey doesn’t look surprised. Before the blast can hit, Flowey reloads.
Chapter 27: Sans feels, more deeply than ever, that something is wrong. Nothing has changed in the timeline readings—except for a nearby timeline that has wiggled, changed, and faded. His scientist history tells him he can’t trust gut feelings, but his experience tells him it’s important—though he still doesn’t know how to figure any of it out. Sans goes to the lab and takes out the determination—concentrated SE, focused on one attribute. He’s vaguely horrified by what Alphys has created, and starts seeing similarities to Gaster until he stops himself. He takes out a syringe and, even though he knows that this might be a terrible idea, he injects himself with some of the determination. It hurts terribly, but the pain slowly fades, and as he goes back to normal, he sees a flash of a memory of Gaster, having just finished injecting him with SE.
Chapter 28: Flowey has let this timeline run for longer than any other, having reset several times since the run where he almost killed Sans and Papyrus. He still doesn’t know why Sans is so hard to kill, and why he can apparently teleport. He doesn’t think that Sans can actually remember resets, but Sans seems to know more than he should about the resets regardless—and this time, Flowey can tell that Sans is acting differently. Papyrus breaks Flowey out of his thoughts, asking whether he ever thinks that someone is watching them—someone they can’t see. A person, who isn’t like other people, who knows things about them they don’t know themselves, and who makes them do good and bad things. Flowey sees a flash of a white dog before he asks Papyrus what he means. Papyrus says he gets that feeling sometimes, accompanying him, nudging him along. Flowey, frustrated, wonders why he’s been spending so much time with Papyrus, then decides he can at least run one more experiment. He attacks, but doesn’t kill, Papyrus, then runs off.
Chapter 29: Sans is just getting off a call with Undyne where she shouted at him for leaving his post. He’s hesitating before actually heading there when he hears Alphys scream and runs over to her. Alphys, panicking, manages to tell him that Undyne is dead—and so is everyone in Snowdin and Waterfall. Sans demands to know if she’s seen Papyrus, but Alphys hasn’t. Sans runs out of the lab, searching Waterfall, finding dust mixed in with mud. He realizes that he’s seen this before—not like he experienced it, but like another him did. He considers what happened when the Core overloaded, how Papyrus and Alphys had glitched and faded, but Sans stayed himself. Then he remembers the determination that he took. He starts to see the world differently, but pushes the thought aside and keeps going. He trips over a small white dog when going back into Snowdin and can’t find any evidence that Papyrus is gone yet. Despite that, he knows that Papyrus will likely be next on Flowey’s list, and heads after Flowey to stop him.
Chapter 30: Flowey thinks that a dead world is quieter than he expected. He knows, with an instinct he can’t explain, that everyone is dead except for two remaining souls. Asgore and Toriel are both gone, and he felt nothing killing them. He picks the judgment hall to meet Sans in, and the two of them fight, Sans killing Flowey over and over, just like he does in the game. During the fight, Sans seems to master his use of KR, determined to stop Flowey from finding and killing Papyrus. However, Flowey finally finds an opening and kills Sans. Before he can properly enjoy the victory, Papyrus runs in, horrified at his brother’s death but desperate to stop Flowey. Flowey attacks him anyway, but before he can kill him, the world begins to flicker, then almost stop—like pausing a videotape. Papyrus’s image begins to shift, until it isn’t Papyrus there, but someone else: a tall, thin skeleton, seeming to melt together into semi-solid goop.
The skeleton accuses Flowey of hurting his sons. He says that he tried to help, but Flowey kept killing them—and the skeleton let them get hurt before. Hurt them himself, so many times, and ruined everything. Flowey begins to feel afraid when the skeleton says he “won’t let it happen again.” The world seems to skip, breaking into lines of code, and the skeleton goes on, saying he “found a way in. My boy … bright and happy, light of the world …” Flowey begs him to stop, but even when he tries to load his save, nothing happens. The skeleton continues to stare at him, and Flowey gets more afraid. The skeleton says that Flowey will do all this again if he doesn’t stop him. But before he can kill Flowey, something flashes in the corner, and they both see a small, white dog by the wall, watching them. After a long pause, the skeleton threatens Flowey: “Leave them be. Or I will find you. I will stop you. I will not let you go.” Flowey opens his eyes to darkness, overwhelming and smothering, but then wakes up in Asgore’s garden, at his original save point.
Chapter 31: Flowey doesn’t do anything of note for two weeks after he wakes up, thinking instead on the skeleton that he saw before he died. He knows that someone must have made Sans and Papyrus, but Flowey doesn’t remember anyone who could have. He remembers the world breaking into lines of code, glitching and shifting, like a computer, or a game. He starts thinking of his saves, reloads, and resets, and wonders if his whole life has really just been a game. A programmed loop on repeat. He wonders if that means he’s the one playing the game, but then wonders who was playing it before him. He doesn’t understand this, and can’t decide whether he hates or loves it. But he keeps going.
After a month, he introduces himself to Papyrus, but just observes instead of trying to change things. He finds himself being careless, and one day, Sans finds him. Flowey tries to greet him casually, but Sans just says, “that’s a nice little speech you got there. how many times have you used it so far?” He says that Flowey let people see him with Papyrus, and Flowey asks and confirms that Sans knows him. Sans says that Flowey is the anomaly and has been causing the fluctuations in the timelines. Flowey, happy at being found out, asks if that’s what he calls him. Sans asks if he’s been having fun, and Flowey says “some, here and there.” Sans replies, eyelights dark, “w i t h m y b r o t h e r?”
Flowey accuses Sans of not keeping a close enough eye on Papyrus, and Sans tries to attack him. But Flowey is experienced now, and easily fights back, saying that it doesn’t matter how hard Sans works: no one can win against Flowey. Flowey waits for the new skeleton to show up, but he doesn’t. So he taunts Sans, saying that he hasn’t figured out what will happen if he dies first—instead of Papyrus—and wonders how Papyrus will react to losing him. Flowey gets ready to snap Sans’s neck, but before he can, everything burns, and he flies back. He recognizes the pain as a blaster, but definitely not Sans’s. He turns around to see Papyrus, having attacked Flowey to defend his brother. He tells Flowey not to come any closer, and that he won’t let him hurt Sans. Flowey is so shocked by Papyrus actually fighting back that Papyrus is able to grab Sans and run away.
Chapter 32: Sans and Papyrus go back to their house, because they can’t think of anywhere else to go. Sans watches for Flowey, but when he doesn’t see him, he turns to Papyrus, who has broken down in tears. Sans then realizes that Papyrus used blasters—which only his Papyrus was given by Gaster. Papyrus just shakes his head and says that he didn’t want to hurt Flowey, but Flowey was going to hurt Sans, and Papyrus couldn’t let that happen. Sans asks if Papyrus has used the blasters before, or if he remembers where he got them, and Papyrus can’t decide whether he remembers—but when they showed up, he knew how to use them. He thinks he remembers using them, but it also feels like that never happened. He asks why he remembers things that didn’t happen, but still feel real. He’s scared. Papyrus starts to reach out for a hug, and Sans immediately hugs him back. They hold each other for a long time.
Papyrus says that Sans knows things that he doesn’t tell Papyrus. Sans agrees. Papyrus asks why he doesn’t tell him, and when Sans can’t respond, Papyrus says that it feels like Sans has always been sad—but sometimes, he remembers him being happy, with people he’s never met. Sans asks whether Papyrus remembers coming to Snowdin, and Papyrus isn’t sure. Sans tells him that he used to do research on parallel universes, where things were different—including their dad. Papyrus asks if their dad was good, and Sans—remembering the good moments, but also how everything went wrong—says “he was good enough.” Papyrus says that their dad isn’t here anymore, and asks whether he liked him. Sans says that their dad loved him.
Papyrus says that they’re not from the same universe, and asks what happened to the original him. Sans tries to brush it off, but Papyrus insists, saying that he has memories he can’t explain, and he just wants to know the truth. He cries, and Sans apologizes for lying—saying that he didn’t want Papyrus to leave him, because he failed him. He tells Papyrus that Gaster stole him from another universe, babbling about how he knew he wasn’t his brother but couldn’t bear to let him go, that he loves him and just wants him to be happy, even if he goes back home in the end. Papyrus tells Sans that he is home. He’s confused and scared, but he’s with Sans. Sans says he’s the wrong Sans, and Papyrus says then he must be the wrong Papyrus. Sans protests, and Papyrus says then they’re both the right “each other.” Sans says Papyrus deserves so much better than this, and Sans failed him. Papyrus says that Undyne said you can only fail if you stop trying. Even if she’s not the Undyne he remembers, she’s still Undyne, and Sans is still Sans. Papyrus remembers many different lives, but in every one, he loves his brother. Sans says he loves him, too.
The two of them talk for a long time, sharing what they remember and what happened in different universes. Sans realizes that, when Papyrus flickered back at the Core, parts of all Papyrus’s—including his own—merged together with him. After a while, Papyrus says that Sans seemed happier when he didn’t know things, so he pretended he didn’t—but he doesn’t like lying. Sans keeps talking about all the details, all the science, even Dr. Japer—who seems to make Papyrus nervous. Finally, Papyrus falls asleep, but Sans stays up, waiting for this all to disappear. He thinks about why he remained stable, even as Papyrus merged with his other selves, and thinks it must be related to the SE. He keeps waiting, but the world around him remains.
Chapter 33: Papyrus wakes up an hour later and hugs Sans again before making “breakfast spaghetti.” They spend a bit more time together before going to their sentry posts, and for the next few days, things continue like that. They get to know each other better, sharing parts of their lives, and it’s very bittersweet. But one day, the two of them look for Flowey, and finally find him. Instead of attacking, they sit down and talk. Sans asks Flowey about the resets, and when Flowey points out that Sans knew, Sans says that he just knew something was wrong and had the means to look into it. Flowey says Sans is useless for letting Papyrus die all those times, and though Papyrus tries to argue, Sans doesn’t. He says that he knows no matter how hard he tries, nothing will help, because nothing he does matters. He says that Flowey is going to reset and make him forget either way, and he’s not sure whether it’s worse to remember or worse that he can never make any progress.
Flowey asks what both of them are, saying they don’t make sense. Sans brushes him off. He says that he knows things are going to end, in at least some timelines, and once they end, that timeline stops. Flowey says that he wouldn’t do that because it would mean killing himself, which he already tried and failed to do. Sans asks who ends those timelines, if it wasn’t him—Flowey says no one. Sans points out that Flowey isn’t the first to control timelines, and he won’t be the last. He says that in the timelines Flowey left behind, his brother will go on, and everyone else is still happy. Papyrus holds Sans’s hand in silent reassurance rather than trying to argue, and both of them tell Flowey he can reset, because they’re ready. Flowey asks why, when they could still spend more time together in this timeline. Sans says that one version of them will stay here, together, even as Flowey moves on, and they can keep making things better—but another Sans and Papyrus have to go. Flowey finally gives up on arguing, and as he resets, Sans and Papyrus hold each other tight.
Chapter 34: Sans wakes up to Papyrus shouting at him and heads off to a normal day in a new timeline. Over the next few months, Sans sees someone is manipulating the timeline from the machine, but feels like he’s somehow learned this before—and forgotten it. This demotivates him, thinking that there’s no point researching further if he’s just going to forget again. He helps Papyrus make his battle body and hears about his new friend, who is apparently a talking flower. All the while, a small white dog makes more and more appearances. In the final scene, Flowey visits the Ruins, thinking about everything he’s done, the experiments he’s run, everything he’s learned and all the questions still unanswered. He thinks about the other skeleton and who he might have been in relation to Sans and Papyrus. But before he can think further, he hears something fall nearby, and finds that a human child has fallen from the surface. He smiles to himself, ready to welcome them underground.
