20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks to @ninzied for the tag!
How many works do you have on ao3?
120!
What's your total ao3 word count?
1,371,932
What fandoms do you write for?
RWRB, TMFU, Lokius
Top five fics by kudos:
Please Don't Let Me Be So Understood
Nova, Baby
Class(room) Warfare
All the Old Showstoppers
Always Where I Need To Be
Do you respond to comments?
I try. I used to be very good at responding but my backlog has gotten extreme (1491 unanswered comments as of right now, if you're curious) so at this point I pretty much only answer if it's a chapter in an ongoing multichap, or someone asks a question.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I have a caradin fic that's straight up a break-up fic with no resolution, but I still feel like my angstiest is probably Black Moon (napollya), because they're in love but the situation is so fucking bleak. Sorry guys.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Any of them that end with a proposal lol? I've got a lot of fluffy fics and all of my long fics end with pure fluff, so I don't think I could pick out one.
Do you get hate on fics?
I have been lucky not to really get any, at least lately. I've gotten... less than polite comments, of course, but no outright hate (knock on wood).
Do you write smut?
Yes, although I would not say it's an integral part of my writing tbh.
Craziest crossover:
Craziest might be Maybe, This Time, which is a Mandalorian/BSG crossover that involves dimension-hopping lol.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I've had a few of my TMFU works translated and now there's someone in the RWRB fandom that translates most (!!) of my fics into Mandarin, which is mind blowing and flattering and I'm so grateful because I've gotten comments from people who have read them translated and loved them.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet!
All time favorite ship?
I don't think I can pick one; some of my past ships are just that—past—but there are a few I will carry in my heart forever.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
If I want to finish it, I will, even if it takes a long time. I might stop wanting to finish a wip, but that's not the question is it?
What are your writing strengths?
Banter/dialogue, action, pacing, plots. People have told me that they can picture my scenes like a movie because of the description and that makes me feel good.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Although I have my moments, I don't really tend to think of my writing as beautiful. I'm just not that poetic/lyrical.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Sure! If it's in my own fic I usually have a native speaker look over it (I haven't done this lately but I have gotten Russian consults for TMFU fics).
First fandom you wrote in?
Xena: Warrior Princess, back when that show was airing. Fanfic primarily distributed over internet mailing lists and posted on your own website.
Favorite fic you've written?
Stealing Nina's idea and doing one in each of my main fandoms I've written in because it's hard to pick (even then this was rough).
Nova, Baby Series—Spy AU, Firstprince
Love is a Losing Game—Chess AU, Napollya (SHOCKER I KNOW)
What Makes a Good Man Series—Spy AU, Lokius
Here It Goes Again—The Mandalorian (Caradin but mostly Din character study in a time loop)
I'm not sure who's been tagged and who hasn't or even everyone who has done this, but a few tags below the cut. If you'd like to do it, jump in!
@kiwiana-writes, @rmd-writes, @three-drink-amy, @cricketnationrise, @14carrotghoul
@leaves-of-laurelin, @tintagel-or-cockleshells, @inexplicablymine, @firenati0n, @liminalmemories21
@orchidscript, @sparklepocalypse, @loki-is-my-kink-awakening, @mirilyawrites, @heytheredeann
@nicijones, @justabigoldnerd, @myheartalivewrites

In case it was ever a question
#💟#Doodles#Lol#Yes I do in fact still think about Vargas every single day#I'd tell you when that changes but that would still be a Vargas thought wouldn't it lol ♪ So for now situation normal! Nothing to report!#Haha ♫#It's not always to this level or even this consistent but it does average multiple times a day and especially around sleep#The dreams have mostly completely tapered off but they're a common comfort/come-down from the day :) Reliable thought pattern#And even tho I'm not posting them for the most part outside of sketchdumps/the occasional video/fanfic/etc. etc.#I can tell you they still grab every sixth or so scratch page lol - and that's not counting their hefty backlog!#Plus I don't always doodle my ideas a lot of them go into my notes#Honestly considering a part two of an incorrect quotes post quite a few have built up and even I've forgotten some of them haha#They're silly ♪#Oh yeah and you'll notice a near-matching uptick in WOY (Wander Over Yonder) :3c Haha wonder what that's about hahaha#And SCII to a similar degree but I don't have anything cheeky to say about that (right now) lol#Also completely off Vargas-topic I think it's really funny how often I forget my bracelet#Obviously didn't here! Got all 'em colours - which is honestly probably /why/ I forget that's a lot of tools for one small detail#But like - I never forget my glasses they are very much ''part of my body'' but I quite often forget my bracelet even tho I wear it way more#I take off my glasses to sleep and shower and the like but my bracelet follows me everywhere! How is it not part of my body just as much!#I guess I have been wearing glasses for longer overall but sequentially! Y'know! Haha

Frank @nostalgebraist-autoresponder will permanently halt operation at 9 PM PST this Wednesday (May 31, 2023).
For context on why, see this post.
(tl;dr this project been a labor of love for me for years, it takes a ton of continual effort, and my heart's not in it anymore.)
----
The blog itself will stay up indefinitely, it just won't make any new posts or accept asks.
Most of the code, models, etc. are freely available right now. Insofar as they are now, they will continue to be. The change on May 31 is unrelated to this stuff.
I've made various interactive demos of these components over the years, and the demos will likely still work after the bot stops. But I won't do any tech support or maintenance on them, and I would actively recommend against using these as a way to "get Frank back."
----
I want to emphasize the following:
The best way for you to "send Frank off" over the next few weeks is to talk to her just like usual.
(And not too often, because she can only make 250 posts a day.)
This is true for a number of reasons, and can be viewed from a number of different angles:
(1)
While it can be fun to anthropomorphize Frank, she is structured very differently from a person, or even an animal.
She does not remember anything, even between two asks made on the same day. Every moment is a new one, with no relation to any other.
If you say "goodbye" or "you're going to be shut off" to her on May 30 2023, it's just as though you had said the same thing to her on some random day last year. She can't tell the difference.
She doesn't know these things are true or relevant now, and she can't possibly know in the way a human would. She's hearing the words for the first time, every time, and reacting in accordance with that.
Think of it like interacting with a baby, or someone with dementia. Every moment stands alone. If you strike a sad tone, they don't appreciate that it's about something. They just know that there is a sad tone, in the current experiential moment.
(2)
Frank mostly operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. She can only make 250 posts a day. There is a limited amount of time left.
Be conscientious about the way you're using up "slots" in this limited array of remaining Frank posts. Don't hog the ride.
(3)
I'm shutting down this bot in part because it's been a long-term, low-grade source of stress to me. I'd like the last weeks of the bot to be as low-stress as they can be.
When Frank gets an unusually large, or just unusual, form of user input over a period of time, I usually have to step in and do something in response.
(if there's way more input than usual and I don't do anything special, Frank will fill up most of her post limit quota before I even wake up, and then the asks will pile up further and further over the rest of the day.)
Maybe I have to delete a bunch of asks. Maybe I have to deploy some temporary change to her mood parameters to prevent the mood from getting too high or low and not coming back to baseline. Maybe I have to turn on "userlist mode," which still involves a cumbersome manual procedure.
Or, maybe I just have to do a lot more content moderation than usual.
"Usual," here, means reviewing and (mostly) approving something like 20 different hypothetical Frank posts per day, every day. If I go do something fun, and let myself forget about this task completely for 6 or 8 hours, there's a backlog waiting for me afterwards. During busy times, there's even more of this.
Just, like, help me chill out a bit, okay? Thanks.

Icarus Part 5
And here we arrive at the second post today. I'm just trying to move through my backlog so that I'm down to my preferred three ahead. Glitters is at the rut, so only a chapter or two left to write, so that's almost done. Soulmates is to filling the gaps in the "In Media Res" scene and is nearing its end, too. Which means with any luck, I'll be down to just three WIP at the end of the month: Moonlight, Boy w/a Bat, and this one.
In this chapter, we have Eddie being a menace and giving Steve and Robin the fright of their lives. And because my Steddie never take anything slow, they kiss about it.
Pt 1 Pt 2 Pt 3 Pt 4
@mira-jadeamethyst @rozzieroos @itsall-taken @redfreckledwolf @emly03
****
The last spot on The Fallen’s American tour was Pasadena just to flip Dustin’s shit now that he was in Hawkin’s, Eddie was sure.
Eddie bought nose bleed seats because he didn’t want to throw Steve off of his playing. The last thing he wanted was to embarrass him and take the spotlight off their music.
He tucked his signature locks under a hat, removed his face piercings, and made sure all his tattoos were covered. He wore an Abbadon hoodie over his regular clothes and got into place in his seat.
He watched the whole show with great enthusiasm, banging along to his favorite songs.
Eddie was most of the way through the show when the twelve year old boy next to him clocked him for who he really is.
He put his finger up to his lips and winked. The boy nodded solemnly and he turned back to spectacle in front of them, like he hadn’t seen the frontman for the biggest metal band in the world sitting in the nose bleed seats for The Fallen.
Eddie lucked out on that one. Boys that age were of two schools of thought regarding secrets, either everyone knew or no one did. He stumbled on the latter.
Thank god!
He really didn’t want this to blow up on him before he got a chance to surprise Steve.
The concert was even more amazing than the one in Indy and Eddie’s skin was just thrumming with excitement as he paid off a member of stadium staff to send the flowers to the dressing room.
They let him wait in the wings without telling anyone who he was. He wasn’t sure how long it would take for Steve to get his flowers. But he wasn’t bored. He watched the roadies and techs scramble about breaking down the set pieces.
He saw two of them carrying Astraeus’s wings and they were even cooler close up. He could that they weren’t just glittery blue, but actual galaxies and constellations.
He was about to ask if he could touch them when a woman in a stylish, black pant suit and sunglasses came storming over to him in a panic.
“Eddie Munson?” she hissed. “Come with me, now!”
Eddie grinned. “Right with you, darlin’.”
He followed her all the way to the dressing room, hands in his back pockets and a skip in his step.
****
Steve was tired. Fuck he was so tired. He scrubbed his face trying to get the sweat off.
The dressing room was heavily guarded so that he could get out his getup to shower and get the patina of being on stage off of his skin.
He would get back into Abbadon before he walked out, but he just needed to be him for a moment.
He stepped out of the shower and looked around at the gifts from fans. The management had put in the ones they thought he would want to see the most.
In the pile was the most striking blue roses he had ever seen. They were almost a midnight blue. His favorite color and his favorite flower. He walked over to them slowly as he dried himself off with the towel.
There was a simple note.
“I know your secret, sweetheart.
But don’t worry, it’s safe with me.”
Steve’s hand shook as he read the note over and over again. He made a dive for his phone, towel forgotten on the floor.
He sent off a quick text to Robin.
-Find Eddie Munson, now!
He got a message back with just one word.
-How!
He replied.
-He’s here
Steve dressed and then sat down on the sofa, settling in to wait. Ten minutes later there was a knock on the door and he put the mask up to his face while the door was open, intending to lower it again. But seeing Eddie standing there with a feral grin on his face.
He wavered, unsure.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Eddie said, his grin never leaving his face. “Did you like the flowers?”
The woman looked back and forth between them in confusion. “What’s going on?”
Eddie turned to her. “You see, Robin, I figured out that Stevie here is the lead singer of an up and coming metal band. And that you two have been keeping secrets.”
Steve dropped the mask in shock, revealing his face. “How?”
Robin took off her sunglasses. “Who told? Who the fuck do I have to sue?”
Eddie smirked. “No one.”
“You’re trying to tell me,” she said with a scoff, “that Mr Double Super Senior figured out something that had been so closely guarded for the last couple of years?”
“Yup!”
Steve stood up and threw the mask on the sofa. He walked carefully over to the man he closely regarded as his best friend, the high heels of his costume clicking on the wood floor.
“How’d you do it, Eds?” he whispered when he got close enough. “How did you figure it out before the press, before our friends who are literal geniuses, before my own fucking parents?”
Eddie lifted up Steve’s jaw up with his fingers and then tapped on the two moles on the side of his neck. The ones Eddie always thought of as love bites.
“My moles?” Steve asked, unsure.
“I noticed them when I went to the concert with Dustin in Indy,” Eddie said softly. “That’s how I knew it was you.”
“Have you got some obsession with moles or something?” Robin sneered.
He shook his head. “Just Stevie.”
Steve gasped. “Oh.”
“Oh,” Robin repeated. “I’m still going to have to make you sign an NDA. I’m sorry. I know you won’t tell, but I have to be sure.”
Eddie nodded. “Send it to my lawyers.”
She nodded and slipped out of the door, barely opening it wide enough for her to exit. She put the glasses back on and decided she needed a drink. A big one. Maybe three.
****
“Sit down, sweetheart,” Eddie cooed. “I know how exhausting shows can be and you did it in high heels.”
Steve let out a watery chuckle but did as he was told.
“I never thought that someone would figure it out,” he said shakily. “I’m so scared right now.”
Eddie wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close. “Oh, Stevie. I didn’t think it would frighten you, otherwise I would have just kept my mouth shut.”
Steve looked him in the eyes. “I’m not frightened of you or that you would tell. It’s just that old adage of if you want to keep a secret between two people–”
“You kill one,” Eddie finished grimly. “I know, baby.”
After a few months of silence Steve whispered, “So you’re obsessed with me?”
Eddie burst out laughing. “Yeah. Have been for years.”
“How long?” Steve asked biting his lip and playing with the sleeve of his hooded coat. He looked away not sure he really wanted the answer. Was this new, because he was in a metal band? Was it recent, with Steve not being as readily available as he was before?
“Since high school.”
Steve’s head snapped up and he looked at up at him in awe. “Holy shit, Eds, that’s forever.”
A soft, fond smile spread out over Eddie’s face, his dimples deepening to sharp lines on his cheeks.
It was Steve’s favorite smile of his. And one he was learning might just be for him and him alone.
“Yeah, yeah,” Eddie breathed, “I know.”
They were so close, their breath mingled together, their noses brushed and Steve’s eyelashes fanned out, almost touching Eddie’s cheek.
Steve let out a gasp and Eddie closed the distance. Their lips met and Steve would swear for years to come that there were god damned fireworks. There had to be. Nothing and no one had ever felt like this. It was warm and soft and hot and sexy and bright and dark all at once. Every nerve ending lit up where just their lips touched.
And then Eddie cupped the back of his head and whatever thoughts that were in Steve’s head flew out the window. Every fear, every anxiety, every doubt went running for the hills. All he needed in this very moment was Eddie.
Until the end of time.
“Wow,” Eddie breathed when he finally managed to pull away.
Steve could only agree. “Um...can you meet me at my hotel?”
Eddie licked his lips. He wanted to take Stevie apart right then right there. But it would put Steve in danger of being discovered.
And that could not happen.
Now that he knew Steve’s secret, now that Steve was letting him in. Like all the way in, he would do anything to protect him.
“Yeah, baby,” he agreed. “I’ll meet you there. Message Celeste,” he winked, “and let her know to sneak me in.”
Steve relaxed that final increment. He kissed him fiercely. “Thanks for understanding, Eds. I love you so much.”
Eddie blushed, shoving a strand of hair into his mouth to hide his face. “Ah, sweetheart. There’s nothing to thank me for. I’d burn the world down for you if you asked.”
Steve kissed him again. “I think it’s best if I go out first and then message you when the coast is clear.”
Eddie nodded.
He was still in disguise. Only four people knew who he was. The kid, Robin and Steve, and the dude he paid to get the flowers in Steve’s dressing room.
Which Eddie would send his own team of lawyers to make sure the man didn’t so much as breathe the wrong direction.
He would then, of course meet with “Celeste” and “Abbadon” to construct the perfect cover story for Steve being on the tour with Corroded Coffin. Provided Steve said yes.
Twenty minutes later, Eddie emerged from the dressing room to see only a couple of roadies still milling around.
He blinked at one of them for a moment, but then the guy disappeared around a corner and he couldn’t be sure.
He would swear later it looked like Simon Olsen. Steve’s friend. But that couldn’t be right? Couldn’t it?
He shook himself off. He had a hotel to get to and paparazzi to dodge.
Eddie slipped into his old middle school persona. The one from before he moved in with his uncle, Wayne. The one where he could shrink in on himself.
Become... not invisible, per se. Not important enough to be worth a look at.
He removed the hoodie and handed it to fan lingering outside. He roughed up his hair, untied the shoelaces on his boots, rubbed dirt on his knees and hands.
Once his new disguise was in place, he shambled down the street and people moved right through him as if he wasn’t there.
Eddie had to fight down a grin. People were eaten up with curiosity on how he could avoid getting papped no matter where he went. And this right here was his secret. Appear homeless and no one would give a damn.
He got into position and texted ‘Celeste’ he had arrived. He took the time to smooth out his hair and stretch out his spine. Walking hunched over like that hurt as he kicked and screamed into his late twenties. Something he never thought he would reach.
He texted Jeff to let him know he wouldn’t be back to night and settled in to wait.
Soon enough he was led up through the back way and then into Steve’s hotel room.
As soon as the door closed, Steve was on him.
“Are you okay? Did anyone see you?” And then, “Why are you so dirty?”
Eddie burst out laughing. “Just a little thing I learned from dear ole dad about walking about unseen. So just let me clean up a bit and I’m all yours.”
Steve bit his lip and nodded nervously.
Eddie chuckled. “Unless you wanted to join me in the shower?” he said over his shoulder.
Steve perked right up and followed Eddie into the en suite bathroom, kicking the door closed with a grin.

KINKTOBER 2022 || MASTERLIST || Join the Library
Knockemstiff was a shit hole that gave you but three reasons to remain in the hell hole of Ohio. Your family and friends, the decent business you've made for yourself selling baked goods, and the fact that you were married to the town's Sheriff, Lee Bodecker. The pros and cons of being married to him always weighed on you on a day to day basis, how you wouldn't even leave the house without the townsfolk getting wrong ideas about you and your marriage to the man.
So you'd be utterly surprised that he gave you the night to yourself after winning the election to spend time with your friends.
"Gotta make my night rounds anyways." Had been your husband's explanation for allowing you out for the night. But you knew better, he wasn't as clean as he let anyone else believe him to be. There was nothing clean about his under the table work and you will always turn a blind eye on it for as long as he doesn't bring it into your home nor would he try to cheat on you with any of the whore at the bar (not that he would, with how fixated he was of you).
"Sure I'm allowed out to the bar tonight with Darla and Patty?" You inquire again wanting to be sure that this wasn't another one of his tricks to try and punish you.
"As long as you don't break any of them rules, Honey. You can go to town for all I care." He teased, hands cupping your cheeks. "Follow the town's rules and no gets to touch you, okay?"
You smiled, relishing this softer side of your husband. You craved it, almost. It was a side no one else but you could see.
"Okay." You smiled, going on your tiptoes to kiss him softly against his pouty lips. No longer could you taste the alcohol in him as you once find yourself doing, he was cutting off as much when he comes home to you and you appreciate the small gesture. Your hands find their way towards the belt loop of his pants, pulling him closer to you and earning a dangerous growl from him in the process.
"Don't." He warned.
"I'm not doing anything." You smirked pecking his lips again, hands sliding up towards his soft stomach before settling on his chest. Heart beating profusely against your hands. "Unless there's anything you'd want from me, Sheriff?" You teased him.
Before your husband could take you up on your offer, the sound of the car honking had interupted the both of you. Peaking through the window, you smiled at the sight of Darla and Patty already waiting by the car they had with them. Turning back to your husband, the disapproving frown already rested on his lips because of your best friends antics of repeatedly honking on the horn just to get you to finally come out.
"Don't make me regret letting go with those hooligans." He pleads now.
"Sheriff Bodecker," You feigned offense, "that is no way to call ladies."
"There is nothing ladylike about those two." He quipped right back accepting the gentle slap on the chest from you--but you know he was right. "Be careful, those two mean trouble and I don't want you to be apart of that trouble too."
"I promise I'll be good." You reassured him for the nth time.
"Good girl." He smirked kissing you on the forehead and letting you head out for the night
~
"My husband is going kill me." Those had been the words you had muttered the moment you had stopped the car and the far too familiar blue and red lights kept flashing from behind you.
You three had had a swell time together, Darla and Patty buttering up numerous patrons at the bar for free drinks--while you just got them for free because of your husband. No one would like to get on your bad side without facing your husband's wrath. So you had your fun, minimizing the number of shots you've had, you made sure you were sober enough to be able to drive and hopefully drive your already knocked out friends back in their shared apartment.
But things just don't go as planned.
Keeping a straight face, you waited for whoever was in the patrol car to make their way towards you. From the sidemirror, a momentary sigh of relief had lingered into your body knowing it was your husband before you fully sobered up and realized it was your husband that caught you instead of his deputies. They were easy to butter up with sweet words or underlying threats, but to have Sheriff Lee Bodecker himself catch you, that was hell.
"Had a fun night, Mrs. Bodecker?" The stoic inquiry sent a shiver down your spine.
The anger your husband had was unfathomable to say the least, he could have his outburst or his sass, but nothing was more dangerous that the silent anger brewing deep in his core. It would explode--it always explodes when it comes to him, but at times it would be towards you, spanking or angry sex were his favorite method. But what was scarier was how he addressed you.
"It doesn't happen quite often so we make the most of." You explained turning to take a good look at him from the window. He showed no emotion, his face laid passive as he looked down at you.
"Do you know why I stopped you, Mrs. Bodecker?"
"I don't believe I do." Playing the innocent card will do you no good, but there was no other way for you to do in the moment.
"You were hitting a sixty in a fifty speed limit." He explained as calmly. "I'm afraid I need to write you a ticket and take your license."
"Lee." You began but halted by the glare that now lingered in your husband's face. How his hat further darken his features in the darkness of the night.
"Rules are rules, Mrs. Bodecker. I'm gonna have to ask you to step out of the vehicle."
Watching his hands now settle on his waist, you had no other choice but to relent, stepping out of the car, you stood a foot shorter in front of the man. The man stood in his full height dauntingly overtowering you even in the heel you wore. He always had such an effect on you and from the start of your relationship it scared you to have him like this--but more and more you know better. It was just a matter of picking and choosing when it comes to him.
"I can smell the alcohol from where I'm standing Mrs. Bodecker."
"We've gone drinking, Sheriff." You quipped, tired with the games he was trying to play.
In one swift move, his hand had gripped your jaws, holding you in place. He loomed towards you, eyes burning blue as they settled directly at you. Your eyes moved down towards the back of the car, both Darla and Patty still passed out at the back of the car. Neither would be able to witness the crueler side of your husband.
"Smart talk me again and we'll see where it leads you."
It was not a warning but a promise of anything and everything he was capable of doing to you if you were not careful.
"Not here, Lee." You plead now, breaking what little resolve you still had in your system. You were far too tired, far too drunk to be playing this games with him anymore.
"Didn't have rules, Mrs. Bodecker?" He inquired again, nudging you back until you back was glued against the car door. "Remember the rules?"
"Follow the town rules and no one touches me." You repeated his words like a mantra. A decree of his own making and of your own demise.
"But the fuck did you do?" He barked now.
"I oversped and I was driving under the influence." You admit wincing as his hand now move towards you neck, not tight enough to cut your airway but just tight enough to have you feeling the blood pumping through you.
The static of the radio sounded and had you tense in front of your husband.
"Stay here"
Letting go of you, he swaggered back towards the car and responded to whoever was on the other line.
From the few stern words thrown you were certain another deputy would be making their way here--for reasons you were still uncertain of.
"Let's go." He orders and you were quick to make your way towards him--halting just a few steps away and turning back towards the car.
"What about the girls?" You asked, the worry of having them defenseless worried you more than your husband wrath at the moment.
"The newbies will take them home safe and sound."
You frowned doubt about the Deputies in his rank, they were pigs and it scared you more than it reassured you that they would be home safe and sound.
"Your friends, as much of a menace they could be, is still under my jurisdiction. They lay a hand on any of them, they answer to me and it will most likely be a bullet to the head. Understand?"
You nodded, not fully convince but as you followed your husband back into his patrol car, you couldn't help but wonder if you could be assured as much about leaving them like this.
~
"Ten!" You whimpered.
Lee Bodecker was a sick fucking man, but he was also a madly and irrevocable obsessed man for his wife. The sight of you on his knees, accepting every slap he made on your ass. It was beautiful, the redness that painted each cheek, the mess of what makeup still remained on your face, and the tears and spit that also came with his punishment. He loved you in this state, a state of his control. To mold you in whatever image he deems you to be. His wife, the perfect wife that every single men in this forsaken town lusted over and every single woman had envied.
"Learned your lesson yet, Mrs. Bodecker?" He inquired, patronizing you for all that it was worth.
"Yes, Sheriff."
He pulled you up until you were settled on top of his lap.  Your bare pussy already soaking his pants. A filthy sight, all his. He smiled at the discomfort painted plainly on your face. You will feel him and the lesson he has had you partake for a long while. He will make sure of it. His hands had now found their way against your neglected lips, prodding but never truly entering. Your hips moved following his finger like a thirsty man, the whimper growing louder on your lips.
Your hands now rested on his shoulders, holding onto him for dear life.
"You think you earned this?" He growled, shoving an index finger inside of you, miserably bring you to the first of many orgasms you were certain to have for the next few hours.
Which he did, with you on his lap, his fingers which you doubted to still function at this point continued on with their assault of your hole. Never once did he allowed you to touch him, you didn't deserve it but that was all you truly wanted from him. To touch him, to hold onto him as he still had his uniform on, how he was still the Sheriff of the town and not the man you had married all those years ago.
It was the power dynamic that you never truly took to account when you had married the man, but something you had grown to appreciate as time went by.  No longer did you truly need to be the strong and independent woman that always had to keep a straight face, in the confinements of your husband's mercy, you could be anything he wants you to be.
"Fuck me, Lee." You plead for him at this point.
"Did I say you could call me by my name?" He barked, his fingers cracking on and bringing you back into your release just as the last one had finished. Free hand had now held onto your hair, pulling until you exposed your neck to him. The  stinging ache on your scalp could never compared to the weeping need of your cunt for him. "Maybe you need another punishment, Mrs. Bodecker?"
"No, Sheriff." You sob closing your eyes as your husband's attention now focused on marking the column of your neck. Any other day, he kept clear of places where the general public could visibly see--but not tonight, it was part of your punishment after all. "I'll be good."
As the coil once again tighten, all you could do was watch helplessly the punishment your husband has set for you and the lesson that was forever ingrained in your mind from now on because of it.
"I'll be good." You gasped, shaking as your release flooded you, painting his fingers and his pants.
"I'll be good." You whispered as darkness consumed you.

Chamomile Comic Trivia #31
#159 - Notice
Tumblr media
It's Sam! I wish I had written down more about my decision to add her, although at this point I'm fairly sure I wasn't certain she was going to become a main character - in fact it was RIGHT around the week this posted that I began work on the first proper cover art for the series which of course did not include her.
Tumblr media
Her design was based off this old one-off pin-up girl art from 2017, technically making her the first ever major Chamomile Comic character to exist, sort of.
Tumblr media
She was named after Sam Lloyd, likely known for his portrayal of Ted the Lawyer from Scrubs. The news of his death had recently broken and I had just recently begun listening to Fake Doctors, Real Friends, the Scrubs rewatch podcast, as my go-to background entertainment when colouring the comic specifically each week. It still is now, albeit intermittently since they don't always produce an episode each week and I no longer have a backlog to catch up on. Now granted, I don't love the podcast as much as I used to - can be a bit cringey at times as these two hollywood actors chat about utterly unrelatable anecdotes from their lives - but it's overall been enjoyable and it'll be weird to find something new to accompany my colouring if it does come to an end or stops being enjoyable once they permanently pivot into... whatever they plan to do after they run out of Scrubs episodes. It's been part of my colouring process for the comic for longer than it hasn't been now, haha. So... yeah it felt right to honour that connection to my comic with Sam's name, on top of the fact that Scrubs is just straight-up one of my favourite TV shows and Ted was always a character that gave me big laughs.
Of course... I realised after that I'd introduced yet another character to the comic ending in "-a"! ...But whatever, it's a common thing. Not so long ago I had 5 co-workers simultaneously whose names also ended in -a, lol.
The decision to have had her always be around simply came from not having any strong ideas to introduce her and preferring the idea that at least some of the cast already knew her. The gag's been done before, but I thought it'd be extra funny to introduce her with a scene in which she is specifically announcing her departure from being a regular face in Cammie's life, which typically would mean the same for the audience in most works with actually established characters.
Final little bonus note - in panel 1, Cammie once again is entering with a handful of steaming coffee.
#160 - Official
Tumblr media
I didn't really mean for it to be so small it's barely legible at web size, but the little sign on the panic alarm button behind the till says "Real emergencies only Cammie!", in reference to #50.
Tumblr media
#161 - Before
Tumblr media
All that Scrubs talk regarding Sam is kinda fitting, because they did the "this character was always here!" gag there too. For their one, they edited her in on various memorable shots and pretended the main character didn't notice her being present, here I obviously extended the frame on the end of several punchline panels from previous comics.
Here's a gif that shows the original panels compared to the new ones, showing both the new and old art isolated as well so you can see exactly what I drew to extend the older panels which naturally weren't drawn originally knowing that I would one day be extending them!
Tumblr media
The second of the three Sam flashbacks is just a nice little bridging one, but it did take me a while to decide for sure which way around I wanted the first and third flashback panel. For the first: while there's been a little bit of mild bad language in the comic once the seal was broken here, Sam's "bitch" is the first time such language has appeared so it amused me to place it in a scene that has already happened long ago just barely outside of the audience's perspective. For the third: the joke is of course that the reveal of Sam's additional dialogue is particularly adding nothing to the scene whatsoever - like, as if Cammie making a fool of herself would even be remark-worthy at this point. I felt both these two goofs had a good punch to them in their own way so yeah, I remember being conflicted over whether I had chosen the funniest possible flow of these three gags.
Of course, the final joke of this one, in case it wasn't obvious (I could see it being subtle for some), is that Mimi's whole running gag is she's a side character who also has existed in the comic for long before her first on-screen appearance, yet Cammie never remembers her.
#162 - New
Tumblr media
The art and dialogue structure of the first two panels here is identical to #160. I think it being a time-saver on my workload for the week was definitely a factor - for whatever reason I needed it at the time - but I also remember going for something with that choice beyond just that... But I can't for the life of me remember what. I don't think the parallel between the two comics adds anything reading them back now.
Anyway here's Newt! I really thought at the time that he was going to be as significant an addition as Sam, and I did come up with the idea of introducing a regular male character at the time I chose to bring Sam in, with Sam's introduction - and exit - being an amusing way to introduce a surprise new character.
...Then I proceeded to never really get any super strong story ideas for him lol. More detail on that in a second. I haven't forgotten him though, frustrates me that he keeps getting sidelined!
#163 - Training
Tumblr media
Standard behind-the-scenes retail frustration humour here. I can neither confirm nor deny how much is based on my current employment. A little detail of authenticity/flavour is that they're watching a DVD intended for widescreen on an old non-widescreen TV that's clearly been in their staff room for at least a decade. Such was the case for my painful training videos too! (It's all online now as of a few years into when I started, so some progress has been made I guess).
#164 - Huh
Tumblr media
It's not made clear yet, but the new status quo that Sam is a receptionist at a primary school is established here - the coloured hanging letter signage on the wall that is too perspective'd to read says "WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL".
I chose this as a job for her based simply on the fact that my Mum has often worked in school offices for most of my life. She wasn't a receptionist but it was the sort of job where I have some... vague enough memories of the "behind-the-scenes" enough to draw something along those lines when I needed to show Sam at work.
Getting back to Newt, obviously the goof here is that Cammie is just being a sore loser about her friend leaving and Newt is about the most cool-sounding interesting person you could imagine meeting. Unfortunately that involved specifically coming up with fun sounding stuff that are not super common to do or know people that do, so despite the super interesting combo of cave-diving, stand-up and polyamory these are all things I feel like I'd have to do thorough research on to represent in the actual comic accurately... which is something I'd like to do but, time is finite and I have so much pre-existing experience with being a silly nonsense person. Would you believe it, there's another character in the comic for whom that experience lends itself very well!!
Speaking of whom, the first appearance of the bell on the door in Repeat 1 Records was only a month after Cammie got the job. She works fast!

Experimentations Chapter 1: Nets and Traps
content: avian whumpee, scientist whumper, female whumper, nets, capture
Started this rp a while ago and wanted to post it. I'll be updating regularly. There is a bit of a backlog for this one. :)
Streak was stuck. He wasn't panicking, because obviously everything would be fine. Everything always was, and eventually this would be too. He just couldn't move. Or see. That was the more pressing concern, actually, the seeing part. The net he'd triggered had closed up quite tight, and his wings burritoed him. He couldn't see anything but feathers, and that was a bit of a problem.
"Helllooooooo..." He cried out again, wriggling uselessly. He strained to hear if anything was around, but he couldn't tell. His feathers may have blocked his vision and hearing, but at least they would insulate him if he was still here when night fell. He wouldn't die of exposure, and that was good! Perhaps the only good news he had right now.
---
Dr. Vaughn hadn't wanted to get her hopes up today. The usual migration patterns of the avians in this area dictated that this late in the season it was very unlikely that there were any avians coming through this stretch of forest. When she got the notification that her trap had triggered she was thrilled. She only hoped that it hadn't been triggered by a deer again. When she arrived to the site she held back a gasp. The avian she caught was an adult with large dark brown wings. She couldn't quite tell if the avian was male or female due to the amusing predicament it had gotten itself into. That was until the creature gave out a low cry. Dr. Vaughn smiled. She had caught a male. She imagined he would put up an honorable fight. She pulled down the lever that controlled the trap and watched with intrigue as the net fell from its suspended position. The net, of course, remained firmly trapping the avian.
He let out a shout as he plummeted, his wings straining against the net instinctively, trying to catch him. But it didn't work, and he fell hard, with another shout. It hurt, a lot, but nothing was broken. He flexed his wings, making sure. Bruised, yes, but not broken. "Please, let me out!" He called, figuring someone must be there. "There's been a mistake! I'm not a bird, as I'm sure you can see! I'm an avian!" He wriggled around more, but there wasn't much he could do. Or anything he could do. "I understand the confusion, as I am devastatingly gorgeous and expertly preened-" thank you Loe, "But I am, in fact, sentient, so if you could please cut the net?"
Dr. Vaughn smiled at the avian's cries. She walked over to uncover a cart that was tucked away behind a large tree. She pulled the cart over to the avian and unhooked the latch in the back, making a small click as the metal was freed. She smirked again at the avain's words. He was arrogant, that was for sure. All the better; the arrogant ones were always the loudest. Dr. Vaughn crouched down next to the avian who, despite claiming he was well-preened, was currently a frantic ball of feathers. She reached out and picked up a large feather that had come loose in his struggle. It was a long feather, most likely from the outer wings and, to the avian's credit, was in near perfect condition. It was a chocolatey brown with black accents. Dr. Vaughn smiled, highly pleased with her capture. "Don't worry," Dr. Vaughn said lowly, leaning toward the avian, "I am well aware that you are sentient. I'm a scientist. Rest assured you're in good hands. My name is Doctor Vaughn."
"Cool, very cool," he commented anxiously, still unable to see who it was. "I don't need a doctor, I'm great, I am. So if you can please just let me out-" His struggles renewed and a hand punched through a hole in the net. He waved and laughed awkwardly. "Hi there. Please let me out now." He was running out of patience. "I need to get home now, I've been here a while now and I need to get going." He was worried, he needed to get home. Loe would be worried, he was supposed to be home soon. He was only going out for a fun flight.
Dr. Vaughn chuckled. "You misunderstand me. I am not a medical doctor, I'm a scientist, a researcher if you may." The doctor rolled up her sleeves and grabbed the bottom of the net, then she hoisted the avian into the cart, only straining a small amount despite the weight of the adult male. She situated the ball of feathers carefully in the bed of the cart and latched the gate back. When she stepped away she noticed that the avian had shifted enough that his eye was visible. She leaned down to examine it. His eye was a stunning shade of brown that was widened in confusion. Dr. Vaughn gave him a gleeful smile. "And you won't have to worry about your home. You won't be going back there any time soon."

i'm really lost, can you explain the timeline of Colby going from ms singer to m? just super confused about it all hahah
of course anon, i would love to lol
i'm actually genuinely happy someone finally asked me something like this bc i've been seeing a lot of misinformation and i'm really tired of it.
i'm explaining everything, pictures and all. i'm blurring out ppl's names and sticking to the codes names i've given the girls involved. i get that you can find these names relatively easy, i'm just not gonna be the place for you to do so.
some of the things i'm gonna mention don't have physical proof, bc they were in a live stream or just stuff i didn't take ss of. but trust me everything i'm gonna say is real and not me making shit up.
so… let's start from the beginning.
the first major misconception that i've seen is that colby and ms singer got together back in march, dated until october/november, and then colby just haphazardly moved onto m. ppl say this bc they use the pic of them out that leaked and compare it to the pic of her wearing the same outfit in march on her insta.
Tumblr media
now idk how this got lost in translation, but ppl are trying to say it's m in the pic??? it's not, but cool that you guys want to believe that lol
but again, this fandom is holding onto "oh well, her pic on insta is from march, so that means that a, this pic was taken in march, and b, they have been together since then". respectfully, did yall forget that ppl rewear clothes? just curious.
i also literally saw her, on her story, post the exact same outfit, but in november. so....
the pic of him and ms singer is not from march. it got post on tiktok in october.
Tumblr media
and HERE is colby, at universal horror nights, which is where the photo was taken, meeting a fan.
Tumblr media
now, this might not proof enough, bc he could have just been dating her secretly and this was the first time they were "caught" in public. but let's be forreal for two seconds. first off, in march, he was deciding whether or not to get chemo. and on top of that they were working nonstop to have backlog content in case of him getting chemo. neither one of them had gfs or time for gfs.
on top of all of this, i have more proof that they didn't start seeing each other until september. colby did not even follow her until sept 21ish. i know this bc i keep track of who he follows and when. yes, i know it's weird. idc. here's other ppl he followed at that time:
Tumblr media
the black box is ms singer's name.
now, onto the stuff i don't have proof of - right as all this information was blowing up, ms singer started getting more viewers on her tiktok livestreams. one of the first ones she had after the above tiktok dropped, she was asked during her livestream what's the best date she was on and she said it was one that happened recently, most likely alluding to colby's (with sam in tow most likely with k/la girl).
the biggest proof of them all is that ms singer herself said in a livestream that she didn't meet colby until september. she outwardly said that. i have friends who heard her say that, not just anons that randomly tell me things. actual ppl i have convos with daily.
now, we have to move on to how he got with m. everything this point down will just be complete speculation on my part. the only proof i have is that colby did not start following m until the day after sam's bday. she was at the party after the marathon bc k brought her there (and k was also there obviously).
Tumblr media
personally, what i believe happened was that ms singer was very heavy handed on the fact that she personally wants to get married and have kids soon even tho she's only 21. she said it multiple times on tiktok. idk why you want to rush into that type of stuff, but hey, you do you. that being said, most likely, while they both enjoyed their time together, colby is not exactly ready to settle down and have kids anytime soon. so he most likely backed off of ms singer.
after halloween, ms singer was no where to be found with colby. what i believe happened is since k/la girl and sam were already together, she decided to bring along m to sam's bday bash. m and colby clicked, and they spent all this time together.
now, when it comes to ms singer and k and m being in some weird little drama where ms singer feels slighted - first off, i have no clue about any of that for certain. ms singer continues to be vague, for good reason, and so it's hard to know what happened. if i was ms singer, i too would be a bit pissed if my friend brought some other girl to be around the guy i was into, just bc he wasn't into me. i'm not trying to say all of this isn't messy. it is to some degree, but i don't fully blame k. colby is a grown man. if he wanted to continue his friendship with ms singer after they "broke up", he would have. clearly, it just wasn't in the cards. or maybe he felt awkward being friends with her still after moving onto someone she knew/is somewhat friends with.
okay, i think that's everything. if there is anything else you need me to explain, feel free to ask. the only reason i really wanted to answer this kind of ask was bc i've heard some whispers via comments on tiktok and twitter and whatever else that some fans think or believe that sam cheated on kat with k just bc ms singer (who is good friends with k) and kat knew each other. bc they think the timing of everything is "suspicious".
first off, kat and sam broke up in march. ppl mistakeningly believe ms singer was in the picture around this time, which is why they think k/la girl is also in the picture. that's just factually not true. secondly, sam was literally fuckboying his ass up during the summer: he followed multiple asian girls (like almost 10) in julyish before during and after japan, danced and spent the night with that random girl that was on jc's stream during his party (while colby had fun with her friend, mind you), and then ppl speculated that he had a thing with niki going on too. that boy was having fun during this period prior to september, which is when he ACTUAL started seeing k/la girl. and third, if sam or kat cheated on one another, i'm 99% certain we would have known way before now. they literally explained in their break up video that nothing actually happened, sam just wasn't ready for marriage. not to mention, if he did cheat, YALL AIRING IT OUT IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT. if they were hiding something like that from us, realistically it would be for good reason. it's not your business to share that intimate of details.
and before anyone gets on my ass about that comment, everything i'm sharing with yall is already public info. i'm not speculating, minus what happened between ms singer and la girl. but even bits of that have been told by ms singer herself so… don't come for me lol

DC 5G - what we know, what we 'know', what's left
NOTE: This has been updated significantly since I initially posted it, with assorted chunks of information parceled out by Dan DiDio in a Word Balloon interview, labeled UPDATE, or a new slate of scoops dug up by - deep sigh - Bleeding Cool (who for all their rumormongering, provably had details on this given how early details of theirs eventually bore out in published comics), labeled UPDATE 2. Most of my fairly glowing opinions accompanying these details are from my original version of this pre-Dark Crisis; I put a very different 'up-to-date' response at the bottom. A bunch of the UPDATE 2 stuff also had titles attached, but they seem...placeholder-ey, so I'll ignore them.
Tumblr media
With Dark Crisis approaching and my bitterness rising as it looks more and more like an off-ramp to the idea of a next-gen DCU than anything else - with titles like Son of Kal-El and I Am Batman completely fizzling out in the meantime while Wonder Girl goes under entirely - I've gone back to thinking about the original 5G plan. Those who follow me on Twitter know I've gone over the last couple years from 'hmm, I'm interested in Jon as Superman, but gosh that timeline is dumb' to a hardcore '5G WAS THE TRUTH AND THE WAY, THE MOMENT THE STOPPED CLOCK WAS RIGHT, DC WHAT IN GOD'S NAME HAVE YOU DONE' partisan, even if the timeline's still kinda dumb.
It was always going to alienate the existing fanbase: it's an approach that besides the face-value shakeup itself puts slow-burn soap development on the backburner in favor of moving fast and breaking things, and potentially results in your faves not graduating to the 'right' positions or ending up in the 'right' relationships to boot, plus a new generation of heroes composed in large part of original characters rather than those who 'earned it' via decades of mostly clinging to life in team books or guest appearances. My being way more interested in the potential of the vast revision of the archetypes and a proper injection of mythic sweep and enduring legacy into a shared universe ostensibly built on those is at the end of a day a difference of taste, but as for my arguments beyond that:
I don't think it can be reasonably argued that The Son of Superman and The Next Batman treated with seriousness wouldn't have been far more attention-getting to broader audiences (and a richer template for that sweet sweet IP farming DC publication now explicitly exists in service of) than rebooting the classic bunch for the 5th or 6th time.
The classic folks still would've been in Black Label and the like forever; yes, for the most part their classic-mold ongoing adventures would be over, but being extremely real most Batman stories would work pretty much the same with someone else under the cowl, and if there's something ala Tom King's Batman that's character-driven and demands space to breathe, it's been shown there's space for that outside of continuity with the likes of...sigh. White Knight.
DC having to ride or die by the new names as their headliners would have meant those characters wouldn't have had the opportunity to languish in genuinely crappy books the way they have - they would have had to immediately sell at least their new Justice League on the strength of their immediate quality with little pertinent backlog to lean on and basically no fallback option.
The loglines of characters built for those gigs tend to be a lot more straightforward than the baggage of folks who've been around for decades having been created to fulfill different functions.
Let's again be real, the significant majority of the existing readership would've sighed and still bought everything with the big names on the covers if not been actively hyped.
Anyway, with all that in mind and the likely-forsaken potential of the concept being a frequent topic of discussion with some friends of mine, I felt the urge to once again revive the Tumblr and put together a rough outline of what we know about the '5G' setup. From assorted scoops (mostly from Bleeding Cool, which I won't be linking to but demonstrated they knew at least the broad strokes of what was happening here), interviews, and indicators in comics that actually have been published, I wanted to see the shape of the baby thrown out with DiDio's bathwater. Starting someplace unexpected:
Tumblr media
When I was first getting into comics, my dad informed me of a rumor he'd heard about that at the end of the new event comic Final Crisis, the Justice League was going to die and would become the NEW New Gods, with their sidekicks and children stepping up in their place, making it a truly 'final' crisis for the DCU as we knew it. While that didn't play out, apparently there was something to it: according to BC, this was in fact the big idea at one point, reportedly under the banner of 'The Fifth World' paying off some notions from Grant Morrison's JLA that were being revived in Final Crisis. This seems shocking given Dan DiDio's notorious antipathy towards the likes of Dick Grayson and Wally West, but his primary complaints about them - that Dick was forever stuck between his iconic past as Robin and grand future as Batman, he and Wally both breaking the DCU by their very existences in aging while their predecessors remain eternal - would have been solved by this shift. His old declaration that Nightwing could only survive Infinite Crisis if something was done to justify him makes a lot more sense if the gears had immediately started turning to make him Batman.
Along with Dick, and likely Cassie Sandsmark as Wonder Woman since Donna Troy had just filled that spot, with the benefit of hindsight it's clear the stage was being set for a new generation lineup: Bart Allen had become The Flash and even after his death was set up for an immediate resurrection, Kurt Busiek was establishing a new Aquaman, Jason Rusch and Jaime Reyes and Ryan Choi were the new Firestorm and Blue Beetle and Atom, Roy Harper had taken a seat in the JLA as Red Arrow, and Freddie Freeman was the new Captain Marvel, with Hal presumably sticking around as rep for the old guard given Johns had just returned him to glory. And right around the corner was Blackest Night to give the kids a trial by fire in the face of their zombie predecessors, with the get out of jail free card of the white rings to bring all the originals back at the end if this whole experiment immediately flopped.
Tumblr media
Conner Kent as Superman was presumably going to be a crown jewel, with Chris Kent perhaps being set up as his Superboy with a background conceptually near-identical to Damian Wayne as the new Robin (scion of a major villain taken in by a Superdad, they're separated, by the time the kid makes it back dad is gone and a big brother has to step up). You've even got a big easy passing-of-the-torch moment at the end of Final Crisis with Clark giving up everything he has to activate the Miracle Machine - an odd non-sequitur with no consequences in the story as-is - and a final declaration 'look up in the sky' at an army of approaching Supermen Conner could well have been leading as his grand debut.
And there's a VERY interesting context if you consider what ultimately happened in place of The Fifth World in the form of the New 52 - a younger, cockier Superman who ends up dating a Wonder Woman who's now Zeus's kid. It seems some of the big ideas were still carried over, especially considering under Grant Morrison that new Superman in a t-shirt and jeans fights Luthor who considers him a lab specimen (alongside Brainiac, as Conner would in Johns and Manapul's brief Adventure Comics run in place of all this, and who Morrison reconceptualizes as a preservationist dedicated to holding a newly-changed world in amber), and then new equivalents and 'successors' to the likes of Mxyzptlk, the classic Phantom Zoners, Terra-Man, and the Kryptonite Man, culminating in a battle with a combination of Bizarro - the ultimate Superman clone - and Doomsday - the franchise-killer whose existence roundabout birthed Conner - for the right to the Superman brand. Was Morrison going to do Conner as Superman alongside Batman and Robin, and they repurposed those 'Superman 2' ideas along with that one All-Star spinoff to create their Action Comics run? Did they just hear that was the plan and kick around some ideas of how they'd handle it that were reused later? Or do those pieces mostly just fit because 'new era' ideas can make near-equal sense whether applied a reboot or a new guy in the cape?
(Perhaps a strike against coincidence: All-Star Superman ends with the conception of a test-tube child of Superman via what was once Cadmus, essentially Conner's origin. Morrison's gone on the record that Batman R.I.P. ends the way it does to provide an iconic 'death' for Bruce setting up Dick as the new guy for those who weren't reading Final Crisis; it seems at least a little bit possible that All-Star at the same time had a similar idea at the back of its mind if it wasn't outright geared to serve that purpose.)
UPDATE: DiDio confirmed Final Crisis was originally meant to lead into a next-gen relaunch, and also mentioned there were plans to pair this with an 'Ultimate'-style line still starring Clark, Bruce, and Diana, and that All-Star and Earth One lines were also both failed attempts at an Ultimate DC. Given the timing, it may be fair to assume that Earth One was initially intended to be paired with Fifth World, and why it was so quickly supplanted by the New 52 when its initial purpose was nullified; if nothing else, it'd explain why that ostensibly mass-market initiative had a nerd-ass name like Earth One.
An interesting bunch of notions, but let's go from the Fifth World to the Fifth Generation: between all the stuff I mentioned earlier there's actually a pretty clear picture of how 5G would've looked, at least concerning the big names.
Tumblr media
Kal-El lands on Earth in 1938 as the kickoff to this world's history, though Wonder Woman emerges in 1939 as the first public superhero (shown by Snyder and Hitch in Wonder Woman #750); she leads the Justice Society of America until leaving man's world after the atomic bomb's dropped. Clark operates quietly in Smallville as Superboy, but he stops when the JSA disbands in 1955 in protest of HUAC wanting them to disclose their identities (though according to the solicit for the cancelled Generation One: Age of Mysteries there was a secret 'real' reason they disassembled; apparently a Golden Age hero would also become a great villain, and a secret deal of some sort would be struck to "keep the Wayne family dynasty alive" after Thomas and Martha's murders).
Tumblr media
Clark is operating in secret as Superman by 1963 and meets JFK who encourages him to gather other heroes in service of a finer world (as seen in the opening of Superman and The Authority; as published after 5G was scrapped this was recontextualized as a time-travel adventure), with him and Batman both publicly debuting in 1965 and the Justice League of America forming soon after with a returned Wonder Woman. The events of 1965-1985 were meant to be depicted one year per issue in a 21-part series by Mark Russell which would later be heavily reimagined as Superman: Space Age.
Tumblr media
Crisis on Infinite Earths occurs in 1985, and everything from then to Death Metal is largely the same, just over an elongated expanse of time and with a few irreconcilable continuity-specific bits like Superman/Wonder Woman excised. Apparently the assorted Crisis events cause years to be 'skipped', allowing key characters to retain some relative youth.
(The Other History of the DC Universe while not a 1:1 appears to have been constructed to roughly fit with this given John Ridley was ultimately a 5G architect, with the JLA emerging in the 70s or possibly 60s if you fudge the narration a bit and still going strong in 2010.)
By the present day, the bulk of the JLA have passed, retired, or otherwise stepped back; the Titans now fill the traditional 'old guard' slot.

The initial prompt offered by DiDio to creators was notoriously for an aged Clark to pursue a totalitarian path and assemble a new version of The Authority as his vanguard. Apparently that wasn't a hard-and-fast direction, as it was radically reconfigured by Grant Morrison into Superman and The Authority, which in the original 5G version would have ended with the revelation that Clark had somehow secretly been split into 'Red' and 'Blue' versions increasingly representing his dueling conservative and revolutionary instincts, with leftie Blue forming the team we currently see, and rightwing Red reforming the classic lineup swapping out Midnighter and Apollo with a likely unwitting Damian Wayne and Jon Kent.
When the dust settled and presumably a reconstituted Clark pursued his own adventures (UPDATE: DiDio noted Clark would continue losing his powers as his capacity as a 'solar battery' dimmed, grooming The Authority to take over for him completely), a 23 year old Jonathan would become the new main Superman, likely written by Matt Fraction according to a Word Balloon podcast, reportedly dating Jenny Sparks and Smallville acting as his 'Fortress' with the citizens working to maintain his privacy when visiting. Between being duped into following Red and under unknown circumstances bottling Metropolis he would likely be starting on the backfoot and needing to prove himself to the world as a worthy inheritor.
UPDATE 2: Along with losing his powers, part of the impetus behind Superman's retirement per DiDio's original plan would be that after revealing his identity to the world, Clark would begin pressuring other members of the Justice League to engage in similar transparency, ultimately forming a divide that would lead to the end of the team (with Jon spending much of his time in the 31st century with the Legion to avoid the whole affair). He passes the mantle to Jon and retires with Lois to Africa (this was also a plot point in Future's End; I guess Dan had it in the back pocket for awhile for some reason?), but ends up performing covert superheroics that lead to The Authority's formation.
UPDATE 2: Jon's solo title would proceed as described, with his own 'neverending battle' to avert the destruction of the original Earth seen in the Legion's timeline. I also suspect Morrison's Red-and-Blue division was also an attempt at having a figure to take the blame for some actions covered further below.
Tumblr media
As originally pitched by Tynion when his run was meant to lead into 5G, at the climax of Joker War the Clown Prince of Crime is shot and left in a permanent comatose state by Selina Kyle, ending her relationship with Bruce. Left with no resources, no Alfred, no Gordon, no arch-nemesis, and a Gotham being radically rebuilt in a new image, Bruce concludes the time of Batman is over and that he should find other ways to help the world with his remaining years, leaving Gotham (presumably this period was pitched for by Tom Taylor and later became The Detective with Andy Kubert) and asking his allies not to pick up his mantle. Damian would take his place at the throne of Leviathan in his own move to remake the world and become the 'Magneto' to Jon's 'Professor X', still cordial in respect to their past friendship but at the end of the day enemies. Jace - in early rumors (UPDATE: and according to DiDio) Luke, but John Ridley has said it was Jace for as long as he was onboard - becomes the next Batman, disdained by Damian for taking up the Batman mantle and on awkward terms with the new Superman. Tynion also had an idea for a 5G Joker title about a teenager radicalized by Joker's legacy that instead became Punchline.
UPDATE: DiDio confirmed that by the time everything fell through, the plan was instead for Joker to survive and kill Bane before revealing Batman's identity to the world after their final battle; Bruce is imprisoned because he's held partially culpable for Bane's death (he 'freezes' when Joker says he plans to do this, giving Joker a chance to escape, and he fears that since Bane killed Alfred he subconsciously allowed him to do it). Clark later breaks him out, eventually setting up a generational war between Clark and Bruce against Jon/Damian/Luke as the culmination of the initial 5 year roadmap for 5G.
UPDATE 2: Apparently the original plan was for Batman to straight-up agree to let Joker kill Bane, good lord. Guess the 'freezing' thing was a wiggle room compromise ala how Morrison handled Authority, though with...less panache. Anyway, Bruce makes amends with his family and closes up shop before retiring to England (a pitch for which was indeed the original kernel for the aforementioned Taylor/Kubert book).
UPDATE 2: Batman - definitely Luke Fox in the original plan, with concept art by Mikel Janin pictured above, meaning Ridley definitively wasn't there at inception - would have as noted fought Damian Wayne, and Tamara Fox would have discovered his identity and become Robin against his protests. After fighting a returned Joker Bruce's culpability in Bane's death would be discovered, and Bruce would have willingly turned himself in.
Tumblr media
Regarding several of the other books: Green Lantern was to be written by Jeff Lemire, spearheading a 'horror line' for 5G and presumably starring Jo Mullein (UPDATE 2: it would have actually starred a 'main DCU' take on the necromancer Tangent Green Lantern, with Jo as the Lantern of the team Justice Alliance). Tim Sheridan would write a Nightwing/Oracle title and the new Flash book; the latter was reportedly the child of Captain Boomerang, so his ideas there were likely recycled into Bolt for his Titans Academy, the daughter of Australian criminals. Brian Bendis would be writing spy books and the Green Arrow ongoing according to a Word Balloon interview of his own. Phillip Kennedy Johnson was doing something for a 'space line'. UPDATE 2: Ram V and Mike Perkins' Swamp Thing was additionally part of 5G, and apparently Yara Flor was originally imagined as Wonder Woman.
Matt Fraction, Warren Ellis, and Chip Zdarsky were collectively working on a project involving the new Superman and Batman that ultimately fell through, whether as soon as Warren Ellis's involvement in any of DC's affairs was taken off the table, or if it would have proceeded without him but collapsed with the line. Presumably Zdarsky's end of it morphed in some fashion into Justice League: Last Ride, showing the sundowning days of the now-disbanded League.
(Pure personal speculation: the roughly contemporaneous The Batman's Grave when Ellis was part of the 5G braintrust may have been intended to provide a non-continuity perennial 'ending' to Bruce which would still leave him alive in accordance with his upcoming setup, same as All-Star would've provided a clean continuity-free transition point from Clark to Conner.)
UPDATE: This likely morphed into a weekly series described by DiDio by Fraction, Greg Rucka, Bendis, and Kelly Sue DeConnick charting the path of how the old guard stepped down (while still remaining alive and on the table) while the new generation emerged; his recollection was that this was titled something to the effect of Last Call, further suggesting Last Ride was a mutation of this book.
UPDATE 2: Alternatively, it may have been Changing of the Guard, an event parallel Last Call which would have shown the rise of the new generation of heroes, focusing on the new Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.
UPDATE: DiDio noted that the G's were divided by central superhero team - Justice Society of America, Justice League of America, Justice League International, Justice League, and then the "new Justice series", suggesting the era's big superhero team would have a new title rather than being a new League.
UPDATE 2: The new team would have been known as the Justice Alliance, assembled by Superman and Batman in a World's Finest miniseries (I suppose another candidate for the Ellis/Fraction/Zdarsky project, though this seems to have been a little late in the game to have had a team assigned so early on) composed of Jon, Luke, Yara, Jo, and the aforementioned new Flash. Tim Sheridan would have either written this miniseries or Justice Alliance itself; the wording of the report is unclear.
UPDATE 2: Clark breaking Bruce out of jail - which apparently was just for the sake of breaking him out of jail? - would have noted led to a generational civil war triggering the endgame of the 5G plan roundabouts 2024. To help win Clark would undergo a process to restore his former powers, but this overload of his powers would place the entire Earth at risk as foretold in the Legion's history. With Bruce somehow sacrificing himself to save the world and both men dying, the future is changed, and Jon and Luke definitively the new Superman and Batman...unless it was decided in 2025 that the initiative wasn't working, with a 'back door' planted into this chain of events to instead reboot to a clean slate with Clark and Bruce and company back in their primes.
Tumblr media
So your mileage will vary tremendously here, because even aside from the seismic nature of the shift everybody would find themselves pissed off by something or another in here, myself included ('everything counts' except Golden Age Superman? At least Clark’d be doing that kind of stuff in the present, but. Plus that's kind of a shame of a fate for Damian pending his inevitable face turn, though I haven’t liked much else with him since he was brought back and this could still at least be interesting. And, again, an exact timeline's pretty dopey and fruitlessly doomed to near-immediate expiration) - that's the nature of a big swing. But there's also stuff for everybody here: Superman gets a huge thematic tip of the hat to his nature as the first superhero while Wonder Woman is the public first to line up with the movies, the JSA have their role to make those fans happy, the Titans fulfill their promise as the inheritors, and again between the likes of that proto-Space Age book and Black Label miniseries there were still regularly going to be titles about the classic heroes at their peaks alongside their new adventures as elder statesmen. You have that deep history for the longtime fans, and a completely clean slate jumping-on point for anyone curious about headlines of NEW SUPERMAN NEW BATMAN THIS IS PROBABLY WHAT THE MOVIES ARE GONNA BE IN 10 YEARS, with easy-in loglines like "Just as the crown is passed the legacy of Superman is perhaps irreparably tarnished, can Lois and Clark's son Jon Kent overcome his initial stumbles and prove himself worthy of the greatest mantle of all?", "Even Bruce Wayne has given up on Batman...but one man hasn’t, and his ultimate rival is the seemingly destined Blood Heir", "The new Green Lantern found her footing patrolling a single world, but now she's thrown headlong into the most terrifying depths of the cosmos", "Can the ultimate Legacy Hero Dynasty be lived up to by the 'legacy' of one of its oldest enemies?" etc.
All-in-all: of course stuff was still gonna suck, his ultimate (good) brainstorm or not I’m sure DiDio was micromanaging it to hell and I imagine a lot of creators weren’t wild about the pitch “in a blitz of creative fervor unseen since the Silver Age create all our new headliners, who as directly derivative characters you won’t even collect royalties for”. But just in terms of what wound up on the stands each month I can't imagine it wouldn't have been so, so much better than Infinite Frontier's weightless lack of commitment in either direction where we have a new Superman, Batman, Wonder (Girl), Aquaman, and Green Lantern, but they're mostly in kind of subsidiary incidental roles while the classics still handle the big jobs until DC can decide for certain where it's going - the closest to full headliner status being Jon, who's basically holding down the fort while his dad's out of town, doing Regular Superman Stuff and fighting A Lex-Type Guy. I'm really, really hoping against hope that Dark Crisis is actually about letting the kids take center stage in a big way with a big push behind them and the old Justice League still sticking around but yielding at least a little bit of narrative authority, because the current neither fish nor fowl state of things can't continue, and snuffing this out altogether would be such a shame given I truly believe 5G was for all its flaws evident and inevitable DC's most interesting idea in years.
UPDATE: Final note, learned from that Bendis Word Balloon that the cancellation of 5G wasn't an editorial matter but due to shifting corporate priorities above everyone's heads.
UPDATE 2: Well, with a lot of this information, this whole thing pretty quickly goes from 'dammit why'd they have to screw the pooch here' to 'oh there's an excellent chance this would have exploded, huh'. After getting over the initial "JEEEEEEEESUS" reaction to, well, everything with Bruce and Clark, I still don't think it was necessarily 100% doomed, as there were clearly a whole lot of extremely talented creators involved to like with Authority reinterpret those marching orders - I can even imagine a way of doing that dopey Death of The World's Finest with some poetry and grace - but. Y'know. If the success of the plan requires a lot of brilliant people to turn it into something very different: not a great plan. Still would have been something compared to the proud nothing of the broad Infinite Frontier/Dawn of DC slate, and introduced exciting new ideas to be explored here and elsewhere over the longterm in many of the ways I suggested initially, but I can at least feel the relief of knowing that this wasn't some unprecedented moment of defeat being madly snatched unbidden from the jaws of victory.
Except for you, Matt Fraction Jon Kent Superman book. For you, I mourn to the end of time.

request rules:
currently, i write for both SFW and NSFW. as always, minors are not welcome to request or interact on this blog.
give me something to work with! please don't be vague in your requests. i need something, be it a song, lyrics, a quote, a small summary, anything to go off of beyond just "hey write gojo" lol. 2-4 sentences is plenty sufficient!
patience is key. i do have an irl job, and i may not get to requests super quickly. i do take them rolling, so i fulfill the oldest ones first, so if i am backlogged then it may take some time to fulfill yours. be patient!
please go through my ask for requests. i will only fulfill those going through my ask. don't comment your request on this post or any of my personal posts; it will be overlooked. additionally, don't comment for a part 2; most of my requests are written to be standalone pieces.
i will close requests when i have enough. i am putting the maximum at 10 requests for right now. this number may change.
please do not abuse the anon feature for requesting. this is meant for those who are too shy to ask me themselves on their own blog; don't ruin it for everyone else with your shitty behavior.
i do write char x char ships! those are discussed below in who i can write for.
i will be tagging triggers in the post and in the notes at the top of the post. if there is a trigger you want filtered that you know may be included in your request, please place that in your ask as well! otherwise, i'll be sure to tag it myself.
those i write for:
tokyo revengers: hanma shuji, keizo "benkei" arashi, kakucho, kisaki tetta. hanma shuji x kisaki tetta.
bleach: shunsui kyoraku, urahara kisuke, ukitake joshiro
attack on titan: jean kirstein, reiner braun, connie springer. reiner braun x jean kirstein.
jujutsu kaisen: nanami kento, gojo satoru, geto suguru, yuki tsukumo, choso kamo, shoko ieri. yuki x shoko, gojo x geto.
note: i do age up all characters!
subjects i don't write for:
noncon/dubcon, r4pe, inc3st/st3pcest, scat, vore, necrophilia/zoophilia, b3astiality, abusive relationships, character death (either reader or character), hybrid AU, p3dophilia, cheating, eating disorders, su1cide + su1cidal ideation.
note: this list may grow depending on the requests i get and my comfort level.
additional notes:
if you select a reader x character, i will not be using your name or "y/n" as a placeholder. i'd rather use pet names of some kind, so if there are any pet names you enjoy or want me to use, let me know!
i keep my readers as nondescript as i possibly can for requests; my personal writing is influenced by my selfships so those can err on the more personal side as far as physical characteristics go, but i will be keeping requests as nondescript as possible.
i do feel relatively comfortable with writing fem!reader, gn!reader and male!reader, although i try to strike the middle ground of gender neutrality with most of my characters barring any smut (as i am afab, most of my smut will have afab physical characteristics).
if you're not sure if your request works, please ask! i'm more than happy to work with you, you can shoot me a message as well if you'd like. however, keep your actual request to my inbox only.

Hey gamers, this is my first actual post here.
First things first, terfs, nazis, homophobes, racists, you and your lot can and should fuck off. No sissy blogs either, that's not for me.
Minors should maybe not be here either if only for the odd NSFW post, so here's your warning.
Bit of a length warning I suppose? I ramble a bit, but it's my pinned so I guess now's the time.
As my blurb says and avatar implies, I'm a 20 year-old transfem, working with she/her pronouns currently. I'm generally kind of hesitant to really talk about myself to strangers or to even say something in the first place, even when it's just to the void like I have been since I started here about a month and a half ago. You may recall my mentioning that this is my first actual post, or have noticed that I've only tagged like, 2 of my reblogs at time of writing. I'm trying to get out there a bit more which is why I'm even making this, but if I take some time to reply to a pm or whatever, know that there's this on top of anything irl. Also I have a tendency to write in a way as though I were actually talking, so apologies for any overuse of commas or really long sentences. Trying to be mindful of this way of writing myself though.
Should say that whatever eldritch critter lords over us all gave me the delightful combo of being able to remember a bunch of absolutely bizarre and incredibly niche things about whatever while also forgetting it all when it miraculously becomes useful. You may be familiar with the "Spirit of the Staircase?" Gamer, you're looking at her. I mention this to say that despite the length of some of the later parts, they're still not exhaustive.
I've also got into the habit of referring to people as gamers because it has that wonderful combo of being both gender-neutral and oddly funny to me. Not in a demeaning way, my sense of humor has just kind of veered into nonsense.
On that note, I should also mention that I myself have committed a cardinal sin and am indeed, a gamer. Platforms I'm on are Playstation and Switch. PC gaming is unfortunately out of my purview currently. I prefer PvE generally but also don't mind pwning some children if the vibes are there. Hope you have your bingo card ready because yes, Celeste is my favorite game. I have WAY too much time into Warframe and I like Dead by Daylight, Deep Rock Galactic, Risk of Rain 2/Returns, and Slay the Spire quite a bit. Tragically I've been a gamer for a while, so I'm just naming a few of my main ones right now while totally not ignoring a sizeable backlog, no sirree!
Music is also a bit of a vibes thing. Generally more of a fan of less intense songs, which may be an odd thing to follow up on by saying prog rock's also pretty cool. Longer a song is, the better is my usual take. City pop's also superb, language barrier be damned. Vaporwave's awesome. Born and raised on the rock of the 70's and 80's with parents that rarely listened to anything after Kurt Cobain rose to power for most of my younger years, so a good chunk of that has worked its way into my playlist. Video game music has a tendency to be wonderful to my ears as well. Solar Ash, both Risk of Rains (although yes, I lean towards the second + DLC here), Night in the Woods, songs from several of the Persona series (Layer Cake, Beneath the Mask - Rain and both versions of Specialist, oh my!), a few from Warframe and of course, the titular Celeste. Lena really is just something else, and I think I can say with some confidence that Quiet and Falling is just my favorite song generally. It does have some competition, so in no particular order I'll rattle some off: Anri's Shyness Boy, Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence (primarily the Hands and Feet Mix version), Hall and Oates' Out of Touch, Mac Demarco's Freaking out the Neighborhood, ABBA's Dancing Queen, Yoko Takahashi's The Cruel Angel's Thesis, Prince's Little Red Corvette, Kensuke Ushio's Crybaby, Jane Pop's Drive to 1980 Love, Shakatak's Bitch to the Boys, Komm Susser Todd from End of Evangelion, Mystical Composer by Momoko Kikuchi, Love don't come Easy by The New Jersey Connection, Once in a Lullaby by Chris Christodoulou, No Tengo Dinero - Maxi by Righeira, Seaside by Dan Mason, In your Eyes by Peter Gabriel, Dinner is not over by Jack Stauber's Micropop, Dress Down by Kaoru Akimoto, Radio Ga-Ga by Queen, Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie, and this list is getting kind of long, huh? God, music is just so freakin' awesome. Truly, one of my biggest regrets will be that I didn't hear enough of it. Band-wise, I'll mention I quite like Steely Dan, Tally Hall, 1986 Omega Tribe, Car Seat Headrest, The Comet is Coming (loving Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam right now), Dan Mason, Mitch Murder, Desired, Nyarons, Seycara Orchestral, Shakatak, Ibrahim, OSC, Both Jack Stauber and his Micropop, Prince, Queen, Junko Ohashi, Anri, Meatloaf, Gorillaz, Night Tempo, City Girl, Yes, PKCH, Chris Christodoulou, Cape Coral, Tupperwave, Oresama, Weird Al (EBAY in particular will forever take up some of my brain space at any given moment) and good ol' Lena Raine. While we're here, I guess the one album I'll mention is Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds. Make sure it's the original though, some of the songs were revamped in recent years and personally I'm not partial to that rendition of them.
If you inferred that I might like some anime given the above section has quite a few Japanese artists then yes, your intuition was correct. I have fallen off of it recently, but stuff like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Mob Psycho, and My Life With Monster Girls are some that I enjoy.
Romantically, I'd say I'm into women. We're entering kind of weird territory for me here though because while I would quite like a romantic partner and someone to cuddle with, I'm kind of not so sure how keen I am on any actual sex? Half of me wonders if I'm just asexual while the other half wonders if it might actually be a case of finding the proper someone. I don't know, it's very much uncharted territory for me and I'm not sure where I'll end up on it. Also the whole "finally accepting that I'm trans" thing probably has its influence somewhere in there.
Politically, just give people stuff. Meet their basic needs, implement a UBI, make it so that every grandparent has a bottomless jar of sweets for the wee ones. Public transport good, cars bad, Golf is actively terrible in multiple ways. Chuck bricks at cops, detonate an oil rig (in Minecraft, I guess), eat the rich, the usual. Ideally, mix the three. Abortions and contraception are healthcare, and alongside education all should be free. Kill the cop in your head, both in the sense that if you saw someone shoplift, no you didn't and that you don't have to impose yourself on people just having some earnest, unconventional fun. These are some of my viewpoints, but I'm hesitant to try and pin myself down with a specific position due to a lack of having really read well, any greater political works, still needing to flatten some views I've kind of just had seep into me from the greater culture ("But is x really the proper thing" is tragically a constant, but I've needed to quash the Devil's Advocate voice in my head for years at this point. The little bastard never truly seems to leave. Yeah, having a little gremlin constantly try and check my thoughts can be handy now and then, but it gets really annoying when I think about topics like how the death penalty shouldn't be a thing because like, what are you doing here you idiot? Don't let your personal misgivings with a person allow for executions), and honestly a little because I need to try and be firmer as a person. I put a lot more stock into the thoughts of others than my own, and sometimes it's tough to remember that me and my thoughts also have value, whatever that looks like. Is that the best thing to just type aloud? Also don't hit your kids, regardless of circumstance.
Uhhh got to say I'm blanking a bit on what else to put in. Closing remarks now I suppose. Life is fucking awesome, and I mean that to apply to most-every instance of it. We're all just here on our queer little blogs having a time with one another, and isn't that wonderful? The past 5 years or so have been terrible mentally for me with a few really bad months in particular this year, but I finally feel like I'm on the up-and-up. Accepting that I'm trans after repressing it for a while, finally cutting off a bad friend (hopefully for good), working on getting HRT. With any luck, I'll have some patches in my hands next Friday, the 15th of September. That's huge for me, not only in the obvious sense but because my brain somehow twisted itself into thinking that I can't take this whole topic seriously outside of hair growth and shaving facial hair until I actually get some form of HRT into my hands, AND IT'S HAPPENING! AAAAHHH!!! I'm moving into the next chapter of my life after being kind of stagnant for a while, and I've had such a wonderful vigor these past few weeks that I haven't known in ages. I've really embraced an appreciation of what others might consider mundane, and just trying to be a bit goofy. Letting things roll off of me, even if the anxiety tends to really weaken my legs and make me nauseous. I stay silly. The horrors may persist, but so do I. So do you. How lovely.

I thought to share that after asking you what are Zettelkasten I finally do have the real usecase now in my uni life... the concepts from different courses are starting to connect and I am struggling in my currect structure-based note taking. So idk, I just... wanted to thank you for introducing the method to me, I really like how the structure and principle itself is simple and I am excited to finally try it out in practice! (you can use this ask to say anything you want about Zettelkasten, I will be obsessed with them for the foreseeable future so any rant you write I will love)
Hey!! Very happy to hear the method might help someone else! Good luck with it and I'd love to hear how it goes, hope it ends up helping you as much as it helped me. For my part right now what I have to say is that building it has slowed down a lot since the beginning since I'm no longer working from a large backlog of things I need to store there (I mean a large backlog of knowledge I haven't put into the Zettelkasten still very much exists but getting through it isn't a current priority and I have most concepts I'm currently actively using already in there) but what is coming up is how useful being able to look things up in it is to keep me from having to retread all my steps whenever I look at something I haven't used in a while (or rather very much speed up the retreading my steps process, since the idea is that rather than having to go "where did this come from?? Let me try to find some other notes that explain it" there will be a link to exactly where it came from!).
I will warn you that Zettlr has recently gotten increasingly buggy with its implementation of LaTeX though (and most frustratingly no longer parses the environment I used to use to make commutative diagrams) so if you haven't picked an app yet I might recommend a different one if you'll be using LaTeX a lot. (Maybe Obsidian? Never tried it myself but I heard good things about it, though it isn't open source like Zettlr is). On a more positive note though the app now does its own graphs to let you see how your notes are connected now! (I don't remember if you were there when I made my "look at my boy" post about this).
Since you wanted to hear me rant, I think I'm just going to copy the text from some meta notes I have in my Zettelkasten on using the Zettelkasten! This will get probably extremely long (and not be reflective of the actual structure of said notes since I'm removing the links and putting multiple notes together into an essay) so only read past here if you really really want to. To imagine the structure this would have in the actual zk, the big headings correspond to organisatorial pages and then each bullet point with a number next to it links to an individual note containing the text I will put under the bullet point; other numbers formatted like this [[insertnumbershere]] are links to other notes outside the scope of this essay but I'm not editing them out so you can see how/when I link things. On that note some of this may be difficult to follow because I use my own vocabulary that I've built up in linked notes; if you (or anyone else who for some godforsaken reason decides to read this) actually read enough to want explanations please shoot another ask!
Also obviously these rules are rules for me adjusted by me, the whole point of the system is flexibility to adjust to your thinking style so don't feel tied to them or anything. Also disclaimer again that this was written for me to be read/understood solely by me and may be very hard to follow for anyone else, so take what you can from it if you feel like it.
Rules for Zettelkasten
Atomicity [[20220807142537]]
"Concept" is loosely defined [[20220125144819]]; when dealing with a packed concept, atomicity requires that zettel deals only with how to bring the strands together, and not the details of each individual strands. Where the details are relevant they can be brought in through links to a zettel dealing solely with that strand. Allowed exception: "organizatorial" zettels that exist to list multiple examples/manifestations of concept. Maths zettels may require proof with many components. If component can be separated neatly as lemma, make new zettel for it. If component does not make sense independently, split proof into steps and make each step a sub-section of zettel.
Connectivity [[20220807142751]]
Links
Links must be meaningful. A basic topic can be linked if it has significant relevance to the concept of the current zettel. Significant relevance means the structure of the current concept mirrors [[20220524234710]] or is induced [[20220531114751]] from the structure of the linked concept. Mechanistically important details can be elaborated on in footnote. This implies linked zettels should be similar in complexity; significantly less complex concepts are likely to play only a mechanistic role in more complex concepts. "Similar" does not mean equal; natural tendency for links to go from high complexity to low complexity is inevitable and shouldn't be eliminated. Probably best to keep those steps reasonably small. Good if a zettel can link to similar complexity concepts. Practical strategy to ensure it: if simpler concept can be reached following chain of links, do not link directly. Sometimes there is no direct link between concepts, but there is a parallel; in these cases create extra zettel in which to note parallel. (Think of like coproduct [[20220523141540]] in category theory.)
Tags
Tags offer indirect connection of grouping many zettels under same concept. If too many zettels are grouped this way, no longer useful as connection. Need broad range of specificity in tags, from tags that are direct enough to offer a similar degree of connection to actual links, to tags so broad they serve primarily to count how many zettels there are under a particular topic.
Emergence [[20220807143006]]
Structures should emerge naturally from connectivity. For this to occur it's necessary for a lot of connections to be formed; amount of links should be maximised up to constraints given by other rules. Structures should not be forced, but you should know how to note and make record of what appears. Example of structure emerging is zettels being linked to zettels close in level of complexity Organizatorial zettels add some level of structure Concept sinks [[20220223141256]] are another form of structure that may emerge. While some concept sinks may be important, best to avoid allowing basic/trivial concepts to become concept sinks; this can be done by strictly enforcing need for meaningfulness in links.
(note for tumblr users reading this: a "concept sink" is what I call a note that gets notably much much more links than the average note, presumable because a lot of concepts lead back there)
Top-down [[20220807143415]]
Emergence [[20220807143006]] often referred to as "bottom up" construction; however, exists also use for top down construction. Easier to assure connectivity [[20220807142751]] by starting with a "bigger" concept (in "packed concept" [[20220125144819]] terms) and filtering into smaller sub-concepts; sub-concepts guaranteed at least connection to bigger concept, so there is somewhere clear to go. Could refer to this as top-down construction.
Interest/Relevance [[20220807144743]]
Zettels should not be dictionary entries. If there is nothing interesting/new to say about an idea, there is no need for a zettel just to state its definition. Modes of Use Zettelkasten
Extracting knowledge from memory [[20220322161655]]
Introspection is the process of bringing information already internalised [[20220316215442]] back to consciousness to be re-assessed or recontextualised. (Usually the word is used to refer to information about self that was originally processed subconsciously). Requires ability to block out external stimuli to avoid distraction [[20220124155258]], but cannot occur well under overwhelment [[20220204212805]] as by the time that occurs all processing powers have been exhausted. Re-contextualisation allows building new connections, either between things previously seen as disparate, or between the concept being brought to the surface and things that have been discovered after it was first internalised. [[20220127164837]] Zettelkasten can aid introspection by using links to bring things back to the surface that would not otherwise have been remembered.
Establishing new knowledge from external source [[20220316215442]]
Information is integrated when it is allowed to pass from "out" state to "in" state of membrane [[20220124155258]]. Once in "in" state, it should be easily accessed and incorporated into mental processes. Bringing information into "in" state requires:
Binding [[20220125144819]] - concepts of a certain complexity require ability to be seen as units to be integrated; otherwise, they will contain too many parts for brain to hold at once, and attempting to may lead to overwhelment [[20220204212805]].
Membrane must be open to letting information pass through.
Easier to integrate if it builds on [[20220127164837]] already existing structure - e.g. answers question prompted by pre-integrated information.
Creating new ideas/conclusions [[20220322161655]] Reviewing external source Editing Finding specific note Reading/exploring [[20230124150130]]
Ways of exploring:
Begin in register. Refresh main concepts of a topic and wander down link paths to smaller details. Good for quick refresher but likely to re-tread well known paths. [[20220223141256]]
Look up particular zettel you remember, follow link path to places you don't remember. Risk of leading to dead end quicker than desired.
Pick interesting tag and browse it. More likely to bring up interesting things you don't remember but less focused than previous strategies. Requires good variety & specificity in tag use.
Adding internal structure

Plans for AUSPICIOUS VOICE Going Forward
EDIT @ 07/10/2023: More explanation on what I will do with my social media accounts at the end of this post
Hey guys!
I'm writing this post to highlight some key changes for this project and its future, especially when I want to move on to other bigger things I'd like to focus on. Of course that doesn't mean I'm abandoning this project, but I just want to scale down on the social aspects of the UTAU hobby significantly for the most part.
If you're interested on what this means for the project, then feel free to read on.
Cover Uploads
Since January 2023, I have been uploading new cover to my YouTube and BiliBili channels on a weekly basis. This was mostly because I had a huge backlog of finished covers I've kept in my hard drive for a long time. But since I've cleared my cover backlog and that I've run into a bit of a burnout AND cover block, I figured that doing weekly uploads isn't really a fun thing to do anymore.
It's hard to find inspiration for songs I want to cover nowadays since I'm all burnt out right now, and I want to upload covers whenever I want to. I won't stop uploading covers but the amount of covers I will upload will decrease over time. I also want to make more time and space for other things I am working on instead of constantly working on covers every week.
Maybe I should build a playlist of songs I want to cover in the future, and when the inspiration really hits, I could revisit the playlist and select the one I like the most...
Voicebank Development and Releases
It never really occured to me that I wanted to stop developing voicebanks up until recently. I will say that I will be stopping voicebank development for Fuwa Maria and Fuwa Mario indefinitely.
Now the reason why I am saying this is because of multiple factors. One is that I don't have the time and energy to devote to developing new voicebanks for my UTAUs these days, and I'm at that point where I look at my current voicebanks and I'm like, "Yeah I don't think I'll record a voicebank as good as that." I'm perfectly fine with the quality of my current voicebanks, and I don't intend to record new versions of them anytime soon. That doesn't mean that I'll stop giving them miniscule QoL updates though.
Producing voicebanks takes a long time, from months to even a year, and it really exhausts me every time I do a voicebank release. So that being said, don't expect new voicebanks to be released anytime soon. This decision isn't permanent, but it will probably remain that way for a long time from now.
Anything else?
For the sake of my social battery and mental health, I won't be directly interacting with the UTAU community (and the greater vocal synth community) from now on. Too much happens on those online spaces to the point where it stresses me out by a ton, and I'm glad that there are people leaving the community to do better things or to improve themselves for the reasons mentioned above. I won't lie that without the UTAU community, I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today, but I think it's time to move on, like a graduation of sorts or something.
That doesn't mean that I won't stop all communications with the UTAU community, but I will be around to check if anything new has been made with Maria and Mario through tags and search results occasionally. I may leave a comment or two at that! I also opened up a new e-mail for inquiries about the voicebanks and characters, so that's my primary form of contact now.
As for the program itself, I have always treated UTAU as a hobby, and I will continue to do so - as something that I like to do for myself in my free time. I will cover the songs I like with my UTAUs (and other voicebanks if I feel like it), and upload them for myself and others to see if they like. And if someone else enjoys it, then that's great! I just love sharing the things I enjoy doing.
Moving forward, this is my way of saying that I will be dialling down on UTAU-related activities significantly in terms of the program itself (maybe a little bit) and the community related to it. I have been valuing my own health recently, which has been bogged down for way too long. And I will be uploading covers sporadically, and I just want to focus on using the new voicebanks I released for years to come. Quite frankly, hobbies and interests are best enjoyed with close friends and probably not with bigger circles, and that alone has done wonders to me.
I will say that if I were to post covers, they might be posted back-to-back on some days. I will post my UTAU work through this site and my YouTube and BiliBili channels from now on, and I have an RSS feed set up in case you guys use them!
See you, HIRA

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Hi! For... god, years now, I've had this massive Spreadsheet (yes, it requires a capital letter) of retro JRPGs I've wanted to (1) play my way through and (2) blog about. (1) was fairly easy after I stopped trying to play on original hardware, but I found it surprisingly hard to do (2) without it devouring all my free time. So instead of a dedicated blog, I'm just gonna do these short summary posts here whenever I beat a game. There's two in the backlog right now, starting with...]
What it is: The Tower of Druaga (ドルアーガの塔 Druaga no Tō) for Famicom, released on the 6th of August, 1985, developed and published by Namco. Based on the arcade game of the same name from June 1984, also published by Namco and chiefly designed by Masanobu Endō, creator of early scrolling shmup Xevious, it's the first game in - the Spreadsheet as a whole, yes, but also the Babylonian Castle Saga, a collection of (for the most part) vaguely RPG-like action games that tell the story of a prince named Gil, his lover, the priestess Ki, and their quest to restore peace to their loosely-Babylonian fantasy world.
What it's about:
Tumblr media
I think the attract screen puts it pretty well! There's some more wrinkles to the backstory, which I mostly got from a strategy guide released at the time - an invading empire, the goddess Ishtar, the precise mechanics behind why, exactly, this is our heroes' last chance to save their kingdom - quite a lot for a mid-80s arcade game. It's pretty thin by RPG standards, but as a setup, it works, and I found it surprisingly engrossing.
How it plays: How do you make an RPG work in the arcade? Apparently, you turn it into a Pac-Man clone. Okay, that's a little flippant; Druaga may be a maze chase game, but there's a lot more going on in it than in most arcade games of its day. On the surface, it's a game about running around mazes, killing monsters, and grabbing keys to get to the next floor, until you defeat Druaga and rescue Ki on the top of the tower. All you have to do is fight your way to the sixtieth floor, right?
In any other arcade game of its era, maybe, but not here. Almost every floor of the tower also contains a hidden treasure that can only be revealed by performing a specific action unique to that floor. The higher Gil gets up the tower, the more he'll need them, from books to reveal the layout of darkened floors to a series of items that turn the increasingly common dragons from the most dangerous enemies in the game to an easily ignored afterthought. Pretty much every useful item in the game (there's several duds and a few traps) is needed to defeat Druaga, so knowing where they are and how to reveal them is absolutely key to beating the game.
The catch - because of course there's a catch - is that neither the treasures' locations nor their revealing methods are signposted at all. Every single one has to be trial-and-error brute-forced out, and they can get pretty arcane - entering a fairly long cheat code, defeating several enemies in a specific order, walking over a particular tile in a particular direction... The intent was for arcade-goers to 'solve' the game together, figuring out all its secrets over the course of weeks or months, but when you don't have a friendly mid-80s Japanese arcade crowd to help you out all you're left with is a mountain of guesswork. Or a walkthrough, which has been a standard bonus feature on its Namco Museum rereleases since the mid-90s.
What I thought: I had a lot of fun with this game! Admittedly I was using a walkthrough (in Japanese, because part of the purpose of the Spreadsheet is to practice my language skills) to bypass about half of the Intended Experience™, but the other half, the straightforward arcade action Pac-Man-with-a-sword gameplay loop, was engaging enough in its own right. Gil controls really well, you never feel like you're fighting the programming instead of the monsters, you can always tell why you died even if the game took a cheap shot, and its insanely generous continue system lets you jump right back to the level you were on with all your items intact when you run out of lives. It's still tough, but it's tough in a fair way, breaking up its fast-paced action into discrete digestible chunks with a chance to breathe between every floor. And frankly, though it is 1980s quarter-muncher hard, I've played indie puzzle platformers that were much worse.
And I do think it succeeds at distilling the RPG into an arcade format, though the result is only an RPG by the loosest possible definition. Despite the lack of numbers and exploration (well, in a sense) there's a distinct feeling of progression to Gil's journey up the tower, a kind of character growth uncommon to - basically any genre outside the RPG in 1984. As Gil collects treasures, he grows faster, stronger, better at navigating the labyrinths, to the point that, despite the increasingly tougher challenges the game throws at you, it almost gets easier the further along you get. With the continue system I mentioned, you can even jump back to floors you've already cleared (mostly to replace a particular item that occasionally breaks) and breeze through the monsters that once gave you so much trouble. It's this kind of thoughtful design that makes me really appreciate Druaga, more than I honestly expected to when I first booted it up. Give it a try, it's pretty good!

domesticity meme!!! 13 & 37
37. what would they do if the other one was hurt?
Ohhhhhh heavens! Let me dig into the ...how many words do I have on AO3 right now? WHAAAAAAT LET ME DIG INTO MY APPARENTLY 1,184,730 WORDS when in the world did I break that million word marker!! Oh--probably with the backlog I posted from early FF.net days--though now that I think about that, that's probably not more than 80k words. Incredible!
Anyway. The answer is they fucking hover. Both of them, clingy as limpets. Hawke hovers and tells bad jokes; Fenris hovers and gets mad. They're both protective to a fault--and I mean that, it's really not healthy for either of them. Fortunately, they don't get hurt much, and when they do they mostly heal quickly. At least the way I hurt them, anyway. Mostly.
Part of the problem is Hawke's determination to prevent pain for all others by taking all of it herself. She's the richest, the most socially powerful, the one apostate beyond Meredith's reach; if anyone poorer or weaker or shabbier than her gets hurt in any way, that means she, personally, failed to protect them and balance out the pain scales. Is that healthy? No! Is that going to make anyone else happy to avoid that pain? No! Does that matter? No!
So in contrast, Fenris's "keep your head down, protect yourself first" attitude provides some of that necessary counterbalancing. Also, if Hawke getting hurt would cause Fenris pain, it's no longer a perfect preferable option, so she can't default to that as her first response anymore.
Is this healthy growth? Ehhh, close enough.
13. favorite sexual activity?
Under the cut, just in case!
Also, fair warning: going to discuss Danarius pretty frankly here. That said, I think they're both reasonably adventurous! Hawke only had one long-term partner in Lothering and a few stolen kisses during the Meeran year before Fenris shows up, so I don't think she's nearly as experienced as Fenris is. I think she'd enjoy anything that prolongs the experience of the intimacy (edging) or relies heavily on intimate trust (light bondage, blindfolding). She also unashamedly loves being the center of attention and is perfectly happy to entertain herself while Fenris watches.
She doesn't get a lot out of spanking/flogging and would not find giving up all of her control a pleasurable experience, not just because of her personality, but because as a mage losing control of herself is possibly her most fundamental horror. I don't think she could ever let go in a sexual context (especially to a non-mage who will never really understand that struggle) without breaking part of her mind in the process. She's also completely incapable of taking a roleplay scene seriously, though I'm sure she'd try if Fenris asked.
That said, anything that Fenris likes is very, very high on her list. She very seriously wants him to enjoy everything they do, preferably with very little pain involved, and I think in the early reunion days she's almost overly focused on him to the point it makes him uncomfortable. Still, she's got enough natural selfishness that doesn't last overly long, and they find a pleasant equilibrium soon enough.
Fenris is so much trickier. I have some extremely complicated headcanons about whether the things he likes are things that Danarius trained him to like vs. his own natural preference and his struggles to figure out if that matters over the years, and I definitely think that extends to his sexual preferences. I think at the start with Hawke he's deathly afraid of bringing in anything he ever did with Danarius (because if Danarius enjoyed it, what kind of monster would it make him if he has some of those fantasies too? If he gets pleasure out of the same act Danarius did, is that not poisoning Hawke in the same way Danarius poisoned him?).
And the thing is, I don't think the things that interest him are even necessarily that exotic! I think he likes being pegged so long as he can see Hawke the whole time; I think he likes very mild D/s (both sides); I think he likes giving oral. I think he knows he's incredibly good at it on both men and women (see again: my beliefs about how Danarius deployed his abilities), and I think he finds tremendously empowering pleasure in applying these skills in a way he has chosen for himself, on a person he cares about, rather than on some object of his master as part of a dispassionate political manipulation. I think Fenris also knows he is very, very good at this in general and likes having that honed skill recognized by his partner; that it's someone he loves and who loves him is a new bonus layer to the experience. I even think he'd be okay with light binding eventually, though neither of them is ever going to be interested in shibari or anything like that. Still, it takes a long time to get him to even begin opening up about some of this stuff, even with Hawke.
I do think he has a major praise kink, on that topic. But God, it has to be done such a specific way to ring true for me; for me, the idea of Hawke calling him any nicknames which infantilize him or force shame is just an instant hard stop brick wall. Any banter, nickname or otherwise, anything that implies shameful inexperience (or shameful EXperience), lack of control, extreme youth/naivete, or otherwise undermines his dignity and pride, is just--ugh, please no. (I read a fic once where he was called "baby boy" for most of it and I just couldn't get over how much it made my skin crawl. It may work for other Hawkes & Fenrises, but man, not for mine.) He's scraped his pride out of absolutely nothing and for many years it was literally the only thing of worth he had, and even in play I don't think Hawke could stand to see him humiliated. On that note, I think Danarius used to call him "my dear," and Hawke never calls him that as a result. Pretty much other pet name is on the docket, though.
Other than that, I think Fenris also just gets a kick out of sex where he gets to enjoy himself. His control is immaculate and I think he likes exploiting that against Hawke; I think knowing he's going to for sure have a good time at the end regardless makes him more interested in holding out as long as possible some nights.
I do think Hawke has a marginally higher sex drive than Fenris, but again, she's perfectly happy to take care of herself when Fenris is either out or not in the mood. Thankfully, he's also completely okay with this.
