i . i think that dog was born out of wedlock (pasting from discord infie au below teehee)

(based on a translation that i did myself that is likely inaccurate to a degree) I think colby jack mightve been a blue cheese manor child born out of wedlock whcih COuld have been the reason the family fell from grace because the Blue cheese manor was a noble family and such an affair being spread around could screw the entire family over. That being said, i dont think colby was strictly rogueforts assistant, maybe the manor tried covering up the affair by acting as if colby was an assistant to the family but wuhwoh that didnt work for a while and eventually the public found out, causing the family to fall from grace and go into hiding because um. Exposed for child neglect and a family member having an affair

i have a small little hc that the Blue Cheese Manor members have a bit of cat in them (especially roguefort for some reason. dont ask why) so colby being a dog. you know. erm. maybe someone who married into the family had an affair with an outside cookie is what im. saying do you get it ok sweet nice.

Being raised as an assistant rather than a child, maybe when the manor fell colby tried to do the only thing he knew how to do and stuck to rogueforts side as an 'assistant', stealing invaluable things to gain their approval (he was ruiningeverything. Also i think roguefort having an irrational fear of dogs is really funny) but that didnt work at ALL and roguefort had to send colby out on his own for multiple reasons (safety, fucking EVERYTHING UP, mainly safety but colby sucks at stealing shit)
