While I absolutely love both BBC Sherlock and Sherlock & Co, Sherlock & Co definitely depicts a more healthy relationship between Sherlock and John.

For starters, on BBC Sherlock, Sherlock and John are both co-dependent on each other. John was implied to be suicidal before he met Sherlock. Sherlock relapses without John by his side. Even with Mary to substitute the void in his heart and help him find purpose again, John would never move on from Sherlock. If anything happened to John, it wouldn't end well for anyone, especially Sherlock.

On Sherlock & Co, one of John's only problems after returning home from Ukraine was that he couldn't afford a flat on his own. He seemed to be very excited about life, going on dates, couldn't wait to start his podcast. He was genuinely happy to see Mike.

Sherlock could easily manage on his own without John. He doesn't need to be reminded to eat, he doesn't need an assistant for cases, he doesn't need someone to take care of him. His only problem is that he needs a flatmate.

Although John and Sherlock both need each other to afford rent, they don't need each other for anything else. They want each other's company, they don't need it. They aren't two halves of a whole, they are two wholes coming together. That's how it should be with all healthy relationships, platonic, romantic, queerplatonic, or otherwise.

It also helps a lot that Sherlock isn't a complete jerk on Sherlock & Co. He genuinely treats John and everyone else with a kindness that while I believe BBC Sherlock is capable of it, he rarely showed it. When John's PTSD is triggered, Sherlock asks John if he'd rather sit out that case. He then asks John if he wants to hold hands and discuss his feelings. In part one of the Blue Carbuncle, Sherlock complimented, actually complimented John. That kind of scene just never happened on BBC Sherlock. John was doing his "That was fantastic! You're amazing!" and Sherlock said, "You flatter me, Watson. But you did awesome too! You should have seen the way you did that! It was brilliant!"

John seems like a much more well rounded happy person in general. Just listen to any of his viewer discretion warnings. "Greetings you handsome devil! This episode will contain a bit of the old swearing, a bit of violence, some drug use. Oh and a bit of duck poo!" I hate to make this comparison, due to how much it will sound like an insult. But he acts like the quirky Disney Princess personality that every Disney Princess from the 2010s has and I mean that in the best possible way. It's my favorite thing about him. He's so adorable.

In the Blue Carbuncle, John has a moment similar to ones that you've seen many times before on BBC Sherlock. John has plans that mean he won't be able to help with the case. He is going to Berlin to spend Christmas with his old army friends. It's going to be his first boys' trip in years. But then he gets so sucked into the case that he's almost late for his plane and decides to just stay with Sherlock anyway because the case is just so fascinating he can't leave. On BBC Sherlock, John has abandoned his plans, his job, his girlfriends, for a case because he couldn't stand to be without Sherlock for so long. Also because Sherlock would often crash is dates, ruin his relationships, just so that John could assist him on cases. On Sherlock & Co, Sherlock was happy for John that he was going out with friends, even though it would mean spending the holidays alone. And Sherlock LOVES Christmas, so it's sad to think that he would have to spend it alone.

Where BBC Sherlock would manipulate or guilt John into staying, Sherlock & Co Sherlock let John go and was genuinely fine with going it alone for a week or two, even if it meant being all alone on Christmas.

I love BBC Sherlock, toxic co-dependent relationships and all, and I always will. But Sherlock & Co gives a little something different and I am happy that my boys are happier.

“Oi! Oi! Tranquilles!” Hakimi neared him, holding up his hand as a sign of good faith and took the article from his hands. He started reading it himself while Kylian paced around the room in anger.

“It’s not the first time this man has attacked me-” he started “he always has an opinion and never seems to be satisfied with anything-”

“He’s written things about me and Leo as well. I recognize the name. Don’t take it personally it’s just an angry journalist, there are a lot of those-“

“An angry journalist with views and reads. It’s like fucking gossip girl for football and why is it always about me-”

“You’ve watched gossip girl?” asked Hakimi raising his eyebrows. Kylian paused at his question, like he had confessed to a crime or something.

“My girlfriend used to- why do I have to explain this?” Hakimi shrugged, waving away his previous question. Although Kylian was certain that he would probably bring it up again at some point. “Can we please get back on the real issue?”

“Which is?”

“a fucking random guy who has probably never even touched a football in his life. Who the hell even is he-” Kylian snatched pack the article, searching for the name of the author. “JW” he read “is that even a real name”

“Ok!” Hakimi grabbed back the article, throwing it on the nearest table “I think you need a break.” He pulled him by the hand to drag him out on the training field.

“Im telling you it’s not a real name-”

“No, I bet it’s not. Let’s go.”

Kylian was grumpy for the rest of the training. Kicking the balls and imagining it was JW, running as fast as he could around the field to take out his anger and tackling even his teammates. When he was over, he sat on the bench in the changing rooms, a towel around his waist and nothing to cover his broad chest. He was holding the article in his hands, reading it again and again. His phone next to him was buzzing with messages and when he opened it his Twitter feed was spammed with the same article. J.W. didn’t have any of his personal information on his website or his socials. Following no one, liking nothing, there was nothing to connect him to an actual person but there were theories about him being a girl. Kylian laughed when he read one of them, it actually brightened his mood, like any girl was bold enough to write such harsh and-as much as he hated to admit it- on point reviews for football players and especially him, who was every girl’s favorite according to… well himself. No, that was just an asshole that was jealous of him. An asshole that probably couldn’t play football or get any of the girls he liked, so he had his fun ruining others. “Typical” he mumbled and shut off his phone but not before typing back a quick respond under his latest tweet “get a life”.

Taylor JW's House / London — Night

“Oh no he didn’t!” Taylor’s mouth dropped when she saw his tweet. She got up from the couch, stumbling on the blankets she was covered with and falling on the ground.

“Oh my god, are you ok?” Yelled Trish while eating her popcorn on the other side of the small living room, leaning forward in her seat to look at Taylor, who was now laying with her face planted on the carpet.

“No!” she said putting strength in her hands to get up, groaning as she did that “no I’m not ok! I’m angry” she sat on her knees, staring at her phone “he’s such a cry baby!”

“Who? Oh god Tay, is it your ex again? Didn’t you block him?” she was still eating her popcorn.

“its not Alex! It’s Mbappé!”

Trish mouth remained closed. Her eyes opening wide. She left the bucket with the popcorn on the couch while getting up to get to her friend, sitting on her knees to look at the screen “the hot one?”

“Oh-” Taylor’s hands dropped and she let out a deep sigh of annoyance, looking at her friend like she was done. Trish shrugged her shoulders and got hold of the phone. She began to laugh, trying hard to keep it in so Taylor smacked her in the stomach, getting her phone back.

“What? I’m sorry! It’s funny!”

“It’s not funny!” she finally got up from the floor, untangling herself from all the blankets, throwing them right and left, one of them falling on Trish’s head. “He doesn’t even know me.” She walked over to her computer was, opening it quickly.

“I mean” Trish threw away the blanket she had thrown on her and got up as well “you don’t know him either but you’ve been writing about him every week, judging him-”

“I’m not judging him. I think he’s great! I’m judging the way he plays. Last night he missed 4 chances and ruined 1 because he didn’t want to pass the ball over to Junior-“ Trish had already lost interest but she let her go on for the shake of it “—I’m telling you There’s a difference, and also, it’s my job-”

“It’s not a job, it’s a hobby! Did you even finish that article about the sales, Miranda asked you for?” Taylor looked up from her computer screen slightly. Her eyes betraying her. Trish sighed, shaking her head “you’re unbelievable”

“There was a game last night- I had to watch and write a post. My fans are very demanding.”

“Fans aka creeps on a screen obsessed with football”

“Hey!” she pointed at Trish “I’m one of those creeps”

“Why don’t you just get a job at sports magazine?”

Taylor laughed, while moving the pad to get on her website. There were so many comments on last update about Kylian, it seemed she had really hit a chord. “When you find me one that doesn’t treat women like shit, I will. People find out you’re a woman in this world and suddenly your opinion has no place in their columns. It’s in fact, annoying.”

“So is staying without a job, which is what will happen if you don’t write about those goddamn sales in two hours.”

“It will only take 10 minutes, it’s fine!” she waved it off, hitting press on the new post tab but before her fingers met the keyboard, she got an inbox. She opened it quickly, it was a message from psg, one of their employees. “No shit” she mumbled, barely able to function.

“What now?”

“Galtier wants to speak to me.”

“Who’s that?” Trish walked over to her, a confused look in her face.

“It’s the coach of PSG.”

Trish stood next to her reading the message

“Dear JW.

My name is Julie Blanchet. I work for the PR of Paris-saint German.

The coach of our team, Mr. Galtier, would like to get in contact with you, so I’m tasked to arrange a meeting with you and him in Paris. Please send us an email we can communicate with or a phone. Below you’ll find my personal ID CARD attached so you won’t doubt for the authenticity of this message. Thank you very much.

Have a good day.”

She paused “well send the email what the hell are you waiting for?”

Taylor was frozen. She was thinking of all the possibilities, fearing them even. Her heart sinking.

“What’s wrong with you?”

She looked up at her friend, desperate. “Any time someone has asked to meet me and I go, they minute they see me they think I’m the assistant and they don’t even believe me when I tell them it’s me. Do I really want to fly all the way to Paris just to get that same reaction?”

Trish bit her lip and kneeled down next to her friend, giving het a sympathetic look. “Just prove to them you are better than any man they could have wished for, no matter the hell they give you. I think it’s time for you to stop hiding, chase what you actually love and put your foot down. You’ve been wasting away your time in things you don’t love for years” She smiled “in the words Kylian Mbappé-”

“Don’t- don’t you fucking dare-”

“Get a life!” she finished the sentence and Taylor jumped on her. Play fighting with her on the floor. She was actually considering it, leaving everything behind in London and chasing something new in Paris, maybe. Or just the opportunity of seeing psg playing live, well that was enough to make her quit her day job and do something spontaneous for ones.

PSG TRAINING CAMPUS / PARIS – DAY

“he hasn’t stopped coughing ever since Saturday. You know how many days is that Ky? 5 days- 5 days off listening him cough his lungs out-“ Kylian wasn’t really listening. Not that he didn’t care about Hakimi and his baby, who apparently was sick, but his mind couldn’t focus. He was pulling on the sled drags and slowly coming up. These exercises were usual for him, he did them every day but today was different, he had this heavy feeling on his stomach. He stopped and released himself from the sled drags, nudging his friend.

“Let’s go have a run.” He said quickly and was already sprinting on the open field. Snatching a ball on his way there and throwing it back on the grass, kicking it. He did a few tricks, kicking it up in there and then pushing it with his head on his friend who stepped on it and kicked it back to him.

“You ok bro?” he asked, while they exchanged passes at each other.

“Sure. I may had overreacted with the JW thing.”

Hakimi laughed “No kidding.”

“I don’t know. There’s something awfully annoying about him-“

“GUYS!” Neymar Jr. ran about to them, out of breath like he had been running from the other side of the stadium. Kylian noticed he had a weird look on his face and ducked down to get the ball while Hakimi was approaching him “I went to see Linda, you know, new secretary, upstairs. Looks very pretty today by the way-“

“To the point Junior!”

Neymar took in a few more breaths, pointing up at the offices of Galtier. “JW is here. You know, football writer, he has a website-“

“Yeah we’ve heard of him- Kylian where are you going? Kylian-“

Hakimi rushed behind his friend, who was walking very fast down the hallways. Kylian heard him yelling but he wasn’t going to stop, he wanted to meet that fool even if it got him in trouble with Galtier, see if he had the balls to say all that he was writing on his face. He brushed passed a few people who called his name until he reached the upper floor where the offices were. Linda, stood up when she saw him and walked towards him to stop him- “Mr. Galtier is in a meeting-“ The moment she said that the door opened, Galtier coming out first, Kylian moved closer to him, angry. Hakimi had just reached him, to hold him back.

“Is it true? is that fucking fool here. Where is he? Scared to come out-“ he went quiet quickly when he saw a girl coming out, no older than 25 years old. Brunette hair, hazel eyes. Holding a pile of folders in her hands. She looked small next to Galtier, she looked nervous. Kylian laughed, rubbing his face “He couldn’t even come here himself? He had to send his assistant? Who the hell are you-“

Galtier went to speak “She’s actually-“ but the small girl raised her hand to stop him, faking a smile.

“I’m Taylor. Jo’s assistant.” She answered, reaching her hand out for Kylian to shake. Kylian looked at her hand suspiciously before accepting the offer.

“Your boss is a coward, isn’t he?”

She laughed, taking back her hand. “Is there a message you want me to give him Mr. Mbappe. Except of course the one you already sent him yourself.”

Kylian backed off, placing his hands on his hips “Tell him he should keep his nose out of things he doesn’t have the knowledge on. And he was unfair for Friday’s game-“

“So you didn’t actually avoid passing the ball to Number 10 who was unmarked across from you because the defenders were occupied with the golden child, that’s you by the way, and instead chose to go with an impossible kick for the net which of course resulted to you missing a golden chance.” She spoke so quickly he could hardly follow her rhythm. She gave him a smile at the end, like she knew she had already won the argument.

Hakimi got close to him, putting his hand over his mouth and whispering repeatedly “abort, abort, abort.” Kylian had to slap him on the chest for him to stop and getaway.

“My boss writes what he sees. If you don’t like what he writes, you have to change what he sees.”

“Yes, of course!” said Galtier, in an attempt to cut the tension. Kylian was staring at Taylor like he was going to attack her any time now. “Your presence here, I’m sure will help with that.”

“Her presence?” Kylian raised his eyebrows, he could feel his anger raising as he realized what the situation he walked in on actually was.

“Yes, Miss-“

“Taylor” completed the girl, like Galtier was gonna go ahead and say something different.

“Taylor, yes. She’s here to journal your trainings and your games.”

“In what capacity?” Asked Kylian narrowing his eyes. “This doesn’t make any sense.”

“Well she’s-“

“My boss wants a better look at the team of the guy that insulted him on social media. Maybe he really was wrong. But before he gets here to apologize, we wanna make sure he won’t be wasting his time.”

“Waste—” he laughed “wasting his time? Are you boys listening to this?”

“On top of that. He is writing a special article on the website. A month with Paris Saint-Germain.” Galtier explained. Giving him the true reason of her arrival.

“Yes, of course, there’s that too.”

Kylian could understand just be her look that she only said the first part to piss him off and in all honesty she had succeeded. He walked closer to the girl, looking down at her. “He shouldn’t have sent a poor girl like you down here to clean his mess.”

“You’ll find I’m not easily intimidated sir.” She shot back “But very easily provoked.” Kylian let out another bitter laugh. He backed away, if it was a man standing across him this conversation would go a completely different way but it was just a girl. So he turned his back on her, leaving. Deep down knowing nothing about her being here would be easy and this next month would be the worst.

Here me out, secret agent/spy AU where Natsu is a field agent and Lucy is his support, basically feeding him his Intel through a piece in his ear while he's on missions. They rarely ever spend time in person, rather they bond almost entirely through banter while on missions.

Honestly, this reminds me of Healer—a kdrama where the guy was also kind of like a field agent and he had this woman (no ship or anything, this lady was way too older) who was his partner through the ear thing. She would arrange his missions, get the information for him, all through the computer BUT!! They didn’t know each other personally, he didn’t even know how she looked like, only she knew him physically because she would always see him through the computers and everything.

Now lemme drop some headcanons for that:

•Lucy’s office is a mess. Scattered books, manila folder, and files all over the place, a map with red strings pinned to her wall and ceilings, book shelves attached to the wall like a whole fvcking library, the place is always dark as she sits in front of the computer, being the only source of light in the room. She always wears skimpy outfits and likes to chew gum a lot, which drives Natsu insane when he can hear it through the earbud, not to mention he has super sensitive ears. She wears glasses sometimes. She’s one of the youngest in the organization Fairy Tail (lolol, can't think of any other name) because of her hacker skills and her tactician brain, and she gets paid very well, but she doesn’t have a fancy house or anything because she’s just horrible at being responsible with her money. She just buys lots of pink cars, pink motorbikes, and books. And just recently, she purchased different types of whips, and a set of latex. And she doesn't have any idea why she bought them, let alone where and when to use them.

•Anyway, quick background. Basically, Fairy Tail is a home for missions, agents, retired CIA, military or whatsoever. Their main vision is to destroy rings, auction and underground markets that sell women and children for -----graphy and blood rituals. They also take requests from the government, sometimes helping the paramilitary from destroying the terrorist. They also once unraveled the dirty secret of the previous government, some of them funding rings and auction. The previous gov can't overthrow their org since they're worldwide 🤷, and has several co-org like the Sabers, Lamia, and Mermaid. Has several warehouses and hq where they can take care of their saved victims and give them shelter and protection before reuniting them with their families. If they don't have one, FT gladly takes them in. Their org is invisible. The main hq, which is sitting in the middle of the busy city, is a tourist hotel. Some of their hq(globally) are restaurant, boutique, arcade, hotels, resorts, apartment, and etc. It takes any form and names, but they are all in one org, to not look too suspicious in the eyes of rivalry and corrupt gov. With Mira as the receptionist of the main hq, when someone slides a gold coin with intricate insignia of their org on her counter, she knows who they are, what is their position and rank based on the carved symbol on the back of the coin, and she exactly knows what to do with them (just watch John Wick. But the coin in JW is not exactly the way I describe it above) And Lucy is not working in any of their hq, she decided to have her own apartment and make it her own workplace instead. But from time to time, she would pay a visit. Only Mira and the manager (of course, Makarov) knows the faces of their field agents and hackers. While the agents themselves didn't know their support (their hacker partner) faces and identities, their support exactly knows who they are. Some field agents didn't even know that they already bumped their support in the middle of the street.

•Natsu's first meeting with Gray, and they almost killed each other. They didn't know each other, and didn't even know that they're co-field agents of FT. It just happened, you know, bumping into each other's shoulder in a banquet while they were in the middle of their own mission when they started throwing punches. Got them punished by the second arm of the manager, Erza. And finally learning each other's identities, they would still be at each other's throat. But seriously, they started to have a drink in an exclusive club after their tiring mission. They wouldn't admit it to themselves but they became the best of best friends. Still trying to kill each other, tho.)

•Natsu is a mess. Literally, a mess. He could look like Natsu with his hair down (idk, I like him more if his hair is down or wet🤷), but his role as a secret field agent forces him to use a black wig sometimes and other things, which he hates—no, loathes since it reminds him of Gray. He didn't have any other choice. With his unusual hair color, he'll be doomed if someone recognizes his trademark. Have this intricate dragon tattoo in his back. So whenever it's his duty, he needs to cover it with full coverage cream, can't take the chance of the enemy catching a glimpse of his tattoo if he ever ruined his attire, especially if he was wearing a tux.

•One day, he has this very difficult urgent mission and Lucy sends him a box, with a letter neatly folded inside, "Use this attire for tomorrow.” (Sometimes, field agents are obliged to wear a dress code like for example a tux, camouflage, waiter uniform, etc., according to the higher ups orders). So when Natsu opens the box he sees the female clothes: a tight sexy ass dress, heels, blonde wig, some makeup, full coverage cream to cover his tattoo, skin tone silicone gloves, fake silicone boobs and butt, a flash drive, and some special firearms with silencer. Fresh from the bath and with only a towel wrapped around his hips, he curses under his breath and brushes his wet hair back. He picks up the earpiece from his nightstand, and puts it in his ear, ready to wage war with her. It's not like it's her fault, it's the higher ups' order, anyway. Becoming a bait.

•Because she needs to hack the cameras of the building or whatsoever to keep track with him, whenever Lucy sees Natsu fights and manhandle someone, she can't help her mind but to wonder what would it feel like to be manhandle or headlock by him. And Natsu would literally yells at her because she's not answering him.

•They like to troll each other. But Lucy is in different level. She LOVES to troll Natsu as she talks to him through the intel earbud, in the middle of their assignment. When he has to talk to some people to get information, she would sometimes tell him the things he has to say, and sometimes she says random shit like “Fix your uneven eyebrows” or "I fvck with your mom" and since he's obedient as a fvcking dog, he would literally say it. Out loud.

•Like I mentioned before, they have never met personally. Natsu always complains and whines about the fact that she does know how he looks, but he doesn’t. After a mission is over, they *insert romantic ballad from kdramas* have some cute talks at night while Natsu wanders the nights of the city by himself. There are moments when they just stay silent...not really knowing what to say, and Natsu can’t see that Lucy is repressing a smile, and sometimes it’s like “Uhh, uhm…okay, so… I guess we’ll talk tomorrow". And Natsu would be like, “Oh, s-sure, yeah, if I need anything, uh, I’ll call you”. Lucy: "Don’t bother me too much, it’s really annoying having to listen to your whiny voice 24 hours at day. I'm done.” Natsu would snorts, and then she ends the call with a smile sjhsfkhdjghsddgja.

•Natsu smokes sometimes, but he's not a chain smoker. He just smoke to calm his nerves or if he's stressing the fvck out. So whenever Lucy see him through the camera or hear him inhaling the cancer stick, she will raise hell. She will constantly reminds him not to smoke nor litter. And guess what? He will listen, grumbling something under his breath as he crashes the stick in his fist before flicking it right to the trash can. He has this whole pack inside his drawer, and when Lucy got tired of scolding him, she said she hates the smells of it and hates people smoking it. He throws it all away in a heartbeat. Literally, emptying his drawer and throwing away all of his lighter.

•Natsu always tells her that one day he will take her out for dinner or for stargazing because she had mentioned before that she loves staring at the sky covered with twinkling star, and Natsu know some spot perfect for that. Lucy makes fun of him, but at the same time she feels a little bad because for some weird reason, the policy of their org doesn’t allow the field-agent and their support to meet personally? Who knows, but that increases their frustration when they are starting to like each other. Natsu has never seen her, so he literally ends up falling in love with her voice only. Sometimes, he spends time talking to her about how he thinks she looks.

"Brunette?"

"Nu-uh."

“Ginger?”

“Nope.”

“Uh, are you tall?”

“Jeez, are you really expecting me to be a super tall ginger or brunette porn star?”

“What? I wasn’t—!”

“I'm super short, you would probably have to look at the floor to see my face.”

•And he makes fun of her and her height, which ends up of him eating her series of curses and screeches before she cuts the connection.

•One day, he asks her if she has big boobs, big butt and wide hips. Lucy dies in embarrasment and ends the call.

She just disappears and their organization is very dangerous (they’re spies, so they get into trouble with other people quite often) so he’s always scared that something bad might had happened to her. She then returns telling him that she’s fine, that she just got sanctioned for answering back or something. He then gets super mad at her, and she would give her rebuttal, "You're no better than me, idiot! Don't tell me you've already forgotten about the last month issue? YOU GOT SANCTIONED AS WELL! AND WORSE PUNISHED BY HER!!! BY ERZA!!!" And he would be like, "Oh, yeah? Then let me tell you something." And then they stays up late all night bickering and annoying each other. But once they're done and finally cuts the connection, there's a smile on their faces as Lucy laid her head on her pillow, while Natsu blows out a thick icy smoke from the cold as he rest his arms against the bridge railings, and looks up at the dark sky.

•Natsu once picks up a strange blue cat while still in the middle of the mission. Literally holding the poor blue cat close to his chest as he bangs his assailants' head against the table and wall. And he can hear Lucy's little cheer through the ear piece. They become fur-parent for this blue cat (we know who it is).

•Lucy also gets a bit salty when he’s on a mission and he has to flirt with a girl to get information, or when the girl starts flirting with him. Natsu doesn’t know how to flirt, so he’s always asking her to tell him things to say to the girls. As a little revenge, Lucy says “Tell her that her hair smells like spicy chicken salad". And oh boy, Natsu thinks that the smell of spicy chicken salad is really good, he loves that food, but the girl in front of him takes that as an insult and ends up slapping him. Lucy giggles at the other side, even if that will get her into trouble with the organization for not helping Natsu in the mission.

•I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Lucy gets in trouble one day like one of their enemies storm her work place and abduct her to get information out of her, and Natsu's next mission is to retrieve her.

•Well, you know, the night before the retrieving-Lucy mission as he prepares, he gets anxious. Literally freaking himself out. And itching to inhale his old addiction (after meeting Lucy and becoming his partner, she became his new addiction, tho). And now that she's gone, he can't help but to light the devil. With only a first puff, he immediately regrets it. With the cigarette stick resting in between his lips, he can hear her in his ears. Angry adorable voice scolding him. He grits his teeth, nearly crushing the stick between his lips, before he chuckles softly and forcibly pulls out the stick out of his mouth and throws it away in the river under the bridge. He looks up at the night sky(his usual spot) and whispers, "I'm sorry, I littered again. Please, come back home. It's getting lonely here."

•Just imagine trying to stay calm as he infiltrate the enemy's base. But he can't help but be brutal to them. Silently yet brutally ending them with a bullet, and not giving them any mercy. He will stare at them dead in the eyes, asking them with only one question in his head, "Where is she?" And probably his eyes will be the last thing they see as he sends them off dead when they can't give him the answer.

•Imagine him first time seeing her personally. (well, he has already seen her in the picture before the mission). After an agonizing two weeks without hearing her voice, he finally hear her calling his name. She's here, in the flesh. Her in a not-so-good situation, tied up, black and blue bruise, blood, but she's putting up a fight. And him going in a rampage, sending someone in hell with his death burning glare. Insert dramatic kdrama OST.

"There is no way he is going to avoid the premiere of BKW , the interviews and appearances that come with it for it the next 2 weeks. " oh but HE WILL 😭😭 after the lack of promo he did for barbarian, clark, jw, and now bkw I've lost hope he'll promote his films the same way he did for IT. i know bill has always been private and that's understandable but he truly became a hermit when it came to his work after 2020. prior to 2020 he looked so eager and had such a drive to promote his films and now it's crickets. it's crazy because his co stars have been promoting it by going to cons and signings.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate just for this one:

-Barbarian came right after the pandemic and he was not the main character so I'll give him a pass for that.

- Clark had promotion but only in Sweden. There are some interviews about it and he went to the premiere, he couldn't not go.

- John wick 4 was a big oof, yes, it looked very bad he skipped everything and did just 1 or 2 interviews with channels I've never heard of , on top of that he looked tired and bored ... But again he may have thought it wasn't necessary for him to do anything because "it wasn't his movie " ??

His schedule was crazy then too so ok , he gets another pass, the last one from me.

Now , BKW , the crow , Nosferatu have his name IN BIG PRINT ON EVERY POSTER... There are no excuses to skip anything, especially with The crow movie , he has to charm the audience so it doesn't flop and keep his name intact so people later go to see him for Nosferatu.

This year could help him to regain that IT momentum he had years ago but only if he plays his card well.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - My Thoughts

So March has been a pretty good month for movies. JW, Shazam, Creed III, Scream VI, 65, and now D&D have all been fun to watch to some extent or another. I am not a D&D fan, in that I only know some generic things about the game, but have never played myself. But I am a fan of Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Hugh Grant and of the fantasy genre so I was looking forward to it. And it is every bit as fun as the trailers suggested.

The film is genuinely a blast from start to finish, but it also has an emotional core which works. At the center of the movie is the co-parental and BFF dynamic of Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez. I loved the fact there is absolutely no suggestion of romance between the two. There is just genuine friendship. Also, the dynamic of both of them with his daughter is what makes the heart of the movie. The film does a good job establishing Pine's character motivation and it is heartfelt and identifiable. The film also has a fun ensemble with everybody contributing uniquely to the movie, both in terms of story and humor. The film moves at a quick pace. I can tell that there are a lot of references to things that D&D fans would recognize that I didn't but the film doesn't depend on people knowing D&D to enjoy it. For a fantasy fan, you get pretty much everything. There is magic, different creatures, dragons, treasure etc.... Its a genuine fantasy adventure. The humor also works really well.

When it comes to weaknesses, I would say the main villains are a little weak. I feel like they could have actually spent a little more time deepening some of the backstories of the main characters and the villains. Some of the CGI is a little noticeable. But apart from that, there are no major complaints.

The cast is excellent across the board. Chris Pine and Chris Evans are usually tussling for the top spot for my favorite Chris. I would say Pine is probably the best actor. He's effortlessly charming and sincere and can be funny without feeling like he's trying too hard. Michelle Rodriguez is also fun and her dynamic with Pine is my fav part of the movie. Justice Smith, who has grated on my nerves in other movies like Detective Pikachu and Jurassic World 2, is actually quite fun. Sophia Lillis is likable as well, and her character's power set is put to good use, especially in a real fun tracking shot. Rege-Jean Page is a scene stealer in a sadly short role. You wish he was in the movie more but he contributes a fair bit of straight laced humor. Hugh Grant seems to specialize in playing enjoyable smarmy villains now. He's terrific. Chloe Coleman as Kira and Daisy Head as the main villain are solid. All the cast seems to be having a blast and it shows on screen.

All in all, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley do a good job. I enjoyed their previous film Game Night as well, so they clearly have a knack for comedy. For me, this is a 8.5/10.

I take it you didn't like JW-Dominion too much?

Yeah no, I belong to the group of people who think Dominion is a mess, but for a slightly different reason than everyone else. Saying that, it’s great how everyone can enjoy different things so don’t let yourself be discouraged by negative reviews and simply like what you like.

Spoilers under the cut for Jurassic World Dominion, Jurassic Park and the entire Jurassic Franchise in case you haven’t seen the movies yet.

Alright, there are two main reasons why I dislike Dominion. It’s because the dinosaurs are too dangerous and because the dinosaurs are not dangerous enough (yes, please bear with my rant, it might make sense eventually. Lol)

The dinosaurs are too dangerous:

In Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs were so dangerous that the human characters had only two choices once the dinos got out of their enclosures. To either flee the island and get to safety elsewhere or to stay there and be eaten. It had these horror elements of the dinos being highly aggressive monsters who took over the top of the food chain and reduced humans (and animals) to mere meals. Was that biologically accurate? Nope, at least not entirely. Dinosaurs were simply different breeds of animals, so chances are high that they acted similar to “our animals today”, too. Meaning that they didn’t care about potential food walking by if they’d already eaten.

Now, did we care about that? No. Because Jurassic Park wasn’t a nature’s documentary but an action flick from Hollywood and we wanted humans to be eaten… Besides, the dinosaurs weren’t animals made by nature but in a lab and who knows what genes were added or tweaked. BUT the thing is that they were made too dangerous for humans (and animals) to co-exist beside them. When they were stuck on some islands that was manageable. Humans and most animals simply didn’t live there, maybe aside from some birds and critters. (I mean, the only bigger animals we saw in the first movies like the famous goat in Jurassic Park was brought there by humans). There’s a good reason, after all, that most animals we know today only thrived once the dinos went extinct.

Of course, then that stupid decision in Fallen Kingdom happened and the dinosaurs were let loose on the mainland, which was the worst decision in the franchise since creating them in the first place. I remember reading back then how many fans said that so many humans would die as a result of that decision. But I also remember that I thought “who cares about the humans, what about the animals?” And I was right to some extent because you don’t see the carnivorous dinos eat the herbivorous dinos in Dominion. You only see them chewing on humans and deer and foxes and rabbits and so on – which are much easier prey because they lack the armor but also a tiny snack compared to a Triceratops. Not to mention that “our animals” in Dominion acted so stupid. Why would a deer (a flight animal) just stand there while a dinosaur is stomping around and slashing it open? And I guess some animals like dogs don’t exist at all anymore? Cause just think about taking your puppy for a walk and seeing a raptor in the woods – yep, that’s gonna end well… And saying that, why isn’t every human in Dominion carrying a gun on them as soon as they leave the house? You know, to kill the dinosaurs who want to eat them at a distance instead of using tasers and knifes which would bring them into chomping-range?

The dinosaurs are not dangerous enough:

Saying all that, the dinosaurs of the Jurassic World movies are way too tame now. To explain what I mean with this, let’s all remember the greatness that was the original Jurassic Park (which is still in my personal top three of the best movies ever made). It was suspenseful, atmospheric and had you at the edge of your seat the whole time because it wasn’t just one random action scene and one random dinosaur after the other.

First there was the T-Rex, which was built up so great with the vibrating water in the cup and the “where’s the goat-line” and the knowledge of ‘it’s coming’ before Rexie actually appeared. The fear was ramped up so masterfully and you had this sense of ‘it can’t get any worse than this’. But then it DID get worse with the Velociraptors who were not only hella smart but working together in a group.

Now, what’s left from that in the newer movies? The raptors were basically turned into trained dogs in Jurassic World, who would obey Owen because of a treat as well as the magical hand. (And don’t even get me started on that ridiculous magical hand!) Also, back in the days of good movies there were actually some characters eaten and hurt and you never knew who it would be. Meanwhile, in the World movies you just sit back relaxed and are like “yeah, whatever, you’re all gonna survive anyway” when the characters are hunted by another apex predator. The plot armor is so thick by now that it really takes away all the excitement. And not only aren’t the characters not dying, they aren’t even injured. I mean, let’s take away the dinos for a moment. In Dominion, there was a plane crash (and why did Claire have to eject herself from it to save herself when all three were just fine in the end?), there was a car rolling over and over and Owen was taking a dip in an icy lake (and how did he get out so fast cause that isn’t humanly possible – is he turning into Frog-Man or something?) People die in these sorts of situations or are grievously wounded. Add to that a few dinosaurs intend on eating human flesh and it’s actually laughable that all the main characters are standing around at the end and chatting with not even a scratch on their bodies. Come on, you somehow managed to make the dinosaurs less dangerous than a tiger or crocodile…

The writers could have gone either way with this movie:

They could have made it go back to its roots were the dinos were actually scary and would take over the top of the food chain on the mainland, with people only surviving in little groups in bunkers or on remote islands (kinda a reverse Jurassic Park situation). The main story line could have been one of these groups needing to get somewhere else to safety or needing to rescue another group. And they even had the right dinosaur to make that interesting!! And no, I don’t mean the Giganotosaurus, who did nothing for me or the movie. Dear writers, we don’t always want bigger (and it wasn’t even that much bigger than Rexie?) cause that’s a very one-dimensional way of thinking and ultimately lazy writing. But there was the Pyroraptor right there, that feathery raptor at the ice lake, and it had SO MUCH potential to star as the main threat in this movie which just wasn’t used. Cause they didn’t only give it feathers but wings! Scientists aren’t actually sure if (or how well) it could fly, soar, climb, swim and dive, but Hollywood never much cared about accuracy (they already made it much bigger than it actually was anyway). So just imagine this group of people escaping this Pyroraptor which could do it all and every time they thought it couldn’t follow them, it surprised them again and they’d be like “alright, we’re officially dead now…”

Or the writers could have made the dinos tame and portrayed them like any animal. Which would mean that the characters could just walk by a T-Rex that had just eaten and be like “hey, what’s up buddy” and he would just blink and take a nap. In that case, the end sequence might even make sense. But then again, no, it wouldn’t. Because why would horses and elephants and birds and whales and so on agree for dinosaurs to walk/fly/swim amongst them - dinosaurs that could easily trample them to death or eat them?!

In the end, neither of the two happened and we got this weird middle thing where the writers didn’t know what they wanted. And it just didn’t work for me. The only good thing was to see Ian Malcolm again who is hands-down the best character of the whole franchise. But then again, he's also in Jurassic Park, which is a much better movie all around, so I’ll just go back and enjoy that one for the hundreds time…

At sunset, Nashville's rooftop bars reveal a gleaming new skyline that is primarily made up of hotels.

Nashville Yards is a brand-new mega-development that is anchored by the 25-floor Grand Hyatt, a 21-story Luxury Collection hotel dubbed The Joseph, an 810,000 square foot, 33-story JW Marriott with 533 rooms, and the Thompson, which casts shadows over the low-rise Gulch neighbourhood. All have been newly built, most since 2020. The Graduate Hotel, which is close to renowned hot-chicken eatery Hattie B's and brims with Southern charm, or the megawatt Soho House are examples of smaller launches with outsized personalities that are not included in the list.

The development of the W, a mirrored tower with 346 hotel rooms that are partially cantilevered over a 26,000-square-foot retail complex, cost $191 million, which is a testament to how quickly things are changing. In October 2021, only five months after it first opened, it was sold to new owners for $328.7 million, or $950,000 per room.

Almost every luxury brand is descending: Nashville is anticipating an inflow of five-star hotel brands over the next three years, including 1Hotel, Edition, Conrad, and Ritz-Carlton, as well as a complete renovation of the city's historic landmark, The Hermitage, which first opened in 1910. The Four Seasons, which is expected to debut in a 40-storey tower with 235 hotel rooms and 144 homes with access to a seventh-floor pool deck that seems like it could have been plucked from Beverly Hills, will likely be the most opulent.

Dean Stratouly, president and chief executive officer of hospitality investment business Congress Group and a co-developer of the Four Seasons, compares Nashville's economic future to that of Austin. He adds, "We first started looking in Nashville around 2016 and I was astounded by what was percolating," citing the city's hospitable tax-base structure, a state government that is aggressive in luring industries, and quickly expanding infrastructure. These are some of the same factors that led major firms, like Amazon and Oracle, to relocate their headquarters and construct sizable offices here recently, helping to spark a wave of urban white-collar worker migration from both coasts.

But on top of all that, there are really uncommon draw cards for investors in the hospitality industry. Notably, practically every significant US city, including Los Angeles and New York, is within a four-hour flight of Nashville. According to data from hotel industry researchers STR, Nashville has routinely seen increases in both occupancy rates and average daily prices that have helped boost statistics countrywide. Nashville has been one of the five best-performing metropolitan markets during the pandemic.

While bachelorette parties contribute significantly to the city's reputation as a tourist destination, they only account for 1 per cent of tourism-related revenues; corporate travel, which typically generates steady business, accounts for 40 per cent of these, giving the city longevity with a broad range of visitors. Despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding meetings and conventions, Nashville expects to welcome more tourists in 2022 than it did in 2019. This is even with the record number of travellers passing through Tennessee to reach the Great Smoky Mountains.

According to Butch Spyridon, president and chief executive officer of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation, "Nashville's [Davidson County] annual hotel revenue in 2022 is projected to be 187 percent higher than it was 10 years ago." Spyridon believes there are currently no indications that the growth is slowing.

According to Spyridon, Nashville's development began in 2004 when the city changed its moniker from Music City USA to Music City and began to forge a distinct identity that wasn't just based on Americana and country music.

However, the campaign's focus went beyond a simple name. Nashville has subsequently held events, including the NHL All-Star Game and the 2019 NFL Draft, thanks to the $623 million it set aside for the building of Music City Center, a 2.1 million square foot convention centre that opened in 2013.

The city's rapidly expanding supply of hotel rooms has been filled as a result of the continual inflow of tourists attracted by such events. "We had 4,200 new hotel rooms open during the pandemic, and another 3,100 are under construction to further strengthen our market," said Spyridon. Nearly all hotels were completely booked for the return of the Country Music Awards in early June. "We've been on a 12-year roll of positive momentum."

Of fact, not all indicators reveal the same picture; despite an increase in room counts during the pandemic, the city and every other travel destination experienced reductions in 2020. Even still, Nashville and Tennessee's statistics weren't as bad as they were in other regions of the nation.

And Nashville has experienced the opposite, as opposed to other markets, when the inclusion of additional inventory results in a decline in rates. "In the first four months of 2022, Nashville city hotel revenue was up by 10.5% compared to the same time in 2019," says Spyridon. Despite the fact that business travel has not yet fully recovered, according to forecasts for the entire year 2022, Nashville "will sell 900,000 more rooms than in 2019, delivering a 20 percent increase in hotel revenues."

The majority of Nashville's high-rise construction was previously concentrated within a one-mile radius of the city centre. Soho House, which debuted in February in the historically warehouse-heavy Wedgewood Houston neighbourhood, five minutes south of downtown and on the other side of I-40, is one of the recent boundary-pushers. Despite the neighborhood's continued industrial aesthetic, it has been welcomed by neighbourhood businesses, including hip coffee shops, art galleries, and vintage shops, as well as a sizable Live Nation presence, which has attracted a full-time, skilled labour.

One of those who recognised Wedgewood's potential before it was hip was Ben Weprin, who owns more than $1.3 billion in real estate in Nashville, including the aforementioned location of his own rapidly expanding brand, Graduate Hotels. In 2015, he purchased the May Hosier Sock Factory building and quickly notified his friend and Soho House CEO Nick Jones about it. Jones believed Nashville had potential in 2014, but it was too early in the city's development for him to make a decision. Recently, it was simple to sell.

The 47 hotel rooms, a Cecconi's restaurant, two stages for live performances, and a 74-foot-long outdoor pool are now all part of the 97,000-square-foot, four-storey Soho House. The atmosphere is laid-back but chic; even during the workday, it's crowded with individuals eating lunch and relaxing with laptops.

A new hotel called Southall will debut this fall in Franklin, 25 minutes south of the city, with 62 rooms and 16 cottages situated on a working farm. It will be a more accessible, more affordable alternative to the always booked-out Blackberry Farm, which is three hours east.

“With Nashville booming nearby, I saw an opportunity,” says Southall’s owner, Paul Mishkin. “We initially toyed with the idea of a B&B, but as we talked to more and more people who lived in the area for years, we were strongly encouraged to go bigger—and that we did!” he says.

Like Southall, the majority of Nashville's newest luxury hotels are promoting the city's upscale dining scene rather than its history as a country music mecca. Sean Brock, the winner of the James Beard Award, has a restaurant at the Grand Hyatt, while Tony Mantuano, formerly of Chicago's renowned Spiaggia, relocated permanently to Music City to manage the ambitious, pasta-focused Yolan at the Joseph.

Luxury companies follow where boldface chefs succeed: Even Kering has stated that it is considering expanding in Nashville, particularly for its Gucci and Balenciaga boutiques.

Nashville is now much more than just Music City, which begs the question of how much luxury Tennessee's capital can sustain before losing its distinct personality. Nashville lost 11,000 citizens in 2021 after a decade of continuous expansion, according to figures from the US Census Bureau, signalling that the extraordinary population boom sustained in 2020 has already peaked.

However, the city is not only interested in Americans who can work from anyplace. It unveiled a six-year, $1.4 billion airport improvement plan in early June, concentrating on the infrastructure required to attract more transatlantic and long-haul flights. In other words, Music City is already planning its next performance—on a bigger stage around the world.

SH Spring '24

so yet another rather serious bout of post-holiday blues that needs some pen therapy to soothe and ease the mind and soul back into the daily grind.

so to sum up - it feels way beyond awesome/-add any positive word here-, to be back in this city which I fell in love with at first sight when I landed circa Sep '19 for a week of work at the Portman.

this time round feels so different (and less stressful, well maybe there is some stress present in the form of 'visiting the places I want to visit before time is up') - most places seem oddly and strangely familiar but unfortunately, i'm not the one to get my bearings within a snap of a finger until i scrutinise the map on my phone during the little moments of free time in between and realise 'oh, it's nearby.' and too many times i've passed by a cafe i been too, a street i was on 5 years back. so yes, i could just about conclude that in the right company of friends, much of SH is quite achievable within 1 week as a tourist.

then of course, i wouldn't be typing all these if it were just about reliving 5-year-old memories.

so i was introduced to Y, L's bridesmaid come June, so she intended it as a sort of 'get to know one another better before you both meet again 2 months later'. then there was M, a friend of L and C, and again - 'just to make a new local friend who works in another industry (because i've grown to realised these connections can be really useful to have.)'

but I think the one person who really left 'an impression' on me was B. so we met 5 years ago when she popped by with her then-boyfriend (now history) and then it was post-work supper courtesy of the then-bf (again), and then it was also visiting her at her new bar back then (as it had just opened) so there was an exchange of contacts and nothing much else after. then leaving native - so i sent a note telling her i was leaving to take on another project and then we agreed to keep in touch/visit one another soon. then covid came and went - there was a brief conversation about linking a local friend to her as she was visiting SH and looking for bars. then after the next time we spoke was - 'hey i would be in SH during this time, hope to see you around and i'd love to visit your bar too.' so an initial coffee session was postponed cos of timings but subsequently rescheduled on a more relaxed day for the both of us. the funny thing was she couldn't recall who i was at the entrance while i was looking for the entrance to Flask but i recognised her outside, having a quick smoke with a client. only until i was seated inside and she popped by to ask about 'when the rest would be coming' and whilst waiting, 'maybe i can add you on WX so we can keep in contact.', then i said 'oh actually i already have you on WX' > sends a 'hello' text > and all comes to realization, she LOLs and said 'wow, i couldn't recognise you at the door. you look like you've put on a lil weight (oops).' then subsequently everyone else came order > freebies came > some of my drinks were comped > she came the 2nd round with JW Black cos 'out of respect' (and the first round was rum but poor me couldn't recall which) and i went home in a semi-high haze but not forgetting her reminding me of our meet-for-tea on Sunday (okay?) as we were about to leave.

so Sunday came, met her for coffee and some small bites. in between she soft 'insisted' i went out for a smoke with her. after a brief cough when i inhaled too much, she told me to stop but i said i was ok and went on. chatted, ate, sipped, while i was secretly admiring her features and how she kept toying with her braids in a playful-shy sort of manner. then we split for dinner but promised to link up later on after dinner 'if you have nothing on/don't mind'. so it was off to foot massage + super filling dinner so i texted her as i was about to complete my meal. reply came (asking for 'help' to help her down shots haha) > so hurriedly went (thankfully in time to change course in the mrt network) and ended up at where she was pretty quick. at this point of time, we have texted enough until i couldn't help but notice the constant 'tickling' on WX which i eventually also played along. but upon arrival, 'official matters' meant i was 'isolated' for a long moment, trying to determine my return flight timings until a screenshot and phonecall made me realized i've been fooled by some pretty decent photoshop work by my best bud LOL. then it was back to conversations and small shots of Templeton Rye 4YO with the sales manager and the boss of the bar. tbh, i wasn't expecting the conversation to take a turn towards the life and relationships side. and another surprising thing was (well actually i took the 'initiative' to move my stool a little closer to her) and then was pleasantly surprised when she started playfully touching/making brief physical contact to emphasise a point during the conversation and yes, the braid toying didn't stop, and her laugher was so cute! ok, i think at this point of time, i was really getting smitten by her.

so the convo topics, being with her, the brief moments of physical contact, that playfulness really got into me by the time i got into the cab home, but not before giving her a playful high-five (which she read well) just so it's a form of touch. (if the other 2 hadn't been out waiting together, i would have attempted a hug but oh well, let's see how this goes down the road).

so now there is C, then Y, then B.

bud actually dared me to do a confession for April Fool's to B, then hide it as an AF joke if it failed. but i think some things only he can pull off with aplomb. mine will sink to rock-bottom for sure with this one especially.
