I love you goofy looking aarakocra, dragonborn and tabaxi. I love you hiring bridgerton guy just to be hot and untouchable and having his first major scene staged so that one tiddy is always artfully exposed. I love you well choreographed fight scenes and a beautifully chaotic representation of six seconds of combat. I love you compelling plot point of attunement requiring a successful role with your spellcasting modifier. I love you solving puzzles by shoving round p(ainting)egs into square holes. I love you forcing Justice Smith to do a British accent for no reason. I love you level 20 NPCs who can’t help the party against the big bad for ambiguous reasons. I love you bigby’s hand slap fights. I love you Nat 20s on potato attacks. I love you owlbears, mimics and gelatinous cubes. I love you dragons, I love you dungeons. I love you dnd movies that love dnd.

These are the chapter house stairs in Wells Cathedral. Someday I’d love to do a supercut of every time these show up on screen. Apparently a lot of filmmakers think they’re perfect for their hero to race up or down while escaping the castle, or to have a swordfight on. They’ve appeared in every other Robin Hood movie or TV series, and anything else where they want a medieval castle feel and some derring-do.
I first noticed them in 1984, when Robin of Sherwood ran up them, took a sharp right through a doorway, and met Maid Marion for the first time. I saw them most recently in Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves - and sat up and went “Aww!”, because they might be 700 years old, but they’re also old friends by this point.

If we ever get another D&D movie and have some actual play peeps cameo in it, I would want Brennan, Aabria, and Matt cast as “trio/quartet (if we could get Jasmine too) of arguing wizards”, and anyone who’s seen the Game Masters of Exandria Roundtable immediately understands what I mean.
Brennan would probably be interrogating some nonsensical illogic surrounding the behavior of a person and/or organization, which, on a Doylist level would be him examining the worldbuilding.
Aabria would be starting BEEF.
Matt would be exasperatedly trying to mediate and deescalate.

Okay I have been searching for someone to say it BUT IT'S GOTTA BE SAID
My favorite thing about D&D: Honor Among Thieves is that Edgin is ABSOLUTELY the character whose player *intended* to be the Slutty Bard when he rolled his stats, but ended up accidentally becoming Team Dad over the course of the campaign when he kept having to motivate and herd his team like a bunch of chaotic cats.
If that isn't the most D&D shit I've ever sEEN

As much as I'd love the DND movie sequel to be with the same characters
What if they had the same actors playing different classes/characters. It'd be a fantastic acting challenge and I know some of them would absolutely relish the swaps and go wild with them

Words of affirmation
"Edgin, the way you defeated that monster was remarkable. Your lute, crashing down on its derriere, produced a heavenly melody, proof of your talent both as an adventurer and as a musician."
Edgin rolls his eyes.
Failure.
Acts of Service
"Xenk, you didn't have to make soup."
"I gladly obliged."
"No, you really didn't have to. It's burned."
Failure.
Receiving gifts
"What the hell is that."
"The Stone of Deep Sleep. It makes you sleep for three consecutive days."
"Xenk."
"You said you had difficulty falling asleep."
"Xenk."
Failure.
Quality time
"Hey, Xenk, what are you doing here?"
"I felt the need for your companionship."
"Xenk. Uh, here again."
"I felt the need for your companionship."
"Here he comes, straight ahead."
"I felt the need-"
"Ugh!"
Failure.
Physical contact
"Can you tell me what the hell is wrong with you?"
"Having difficulty expressing my sincere romantic devotion towards you, I did some enlightening reading discovering that love has five languages. I was trying to figure out which one you express yourself in so-"
Edgin's mouth crashes into Xenk's. Edgin's entire body also crashes against Xenk's.
"The language of idiots, that's the one," Edgin mumbles.
Finally, a success.
---
This time I cheated a bit and wrote a double drabble of 200 words. Prompt was "Xenk reading about love languages and trying to discover Edgin's ones" by karamazovsister. All my xedgin drabbles are on ao3.

I really liked Dungeons and Dragons: honor among thieves but I did wish that Doric looked a smidge more Tiefling like

After rewatching Honor Among Thieves I couldn't help but notice that Kira is still warm and affectionate towards Holga while thinking that her dad abandoned her for riches. But they were both on the heist, and both were gone from her life for two years while locked up in jail, so why does her dad get the brunt of the bitter emotions?
You could theorise that Kira and Holga had a stronger bond to begin with that it was harder for her absence to dent, but Forge also had two years to turn Kira against both of her parental figures, and yet it seems like he only bothered to lie about Edgin. Why? Did he position Holga as collateral damage in Edgin's terrible plan, and that's why Kira doesn't see her as culpable? Did he bother to mention her at all?
When Edgin accuses Forge of setting a trap for him and Holga, Forge corrects him by saying that the trap was for him and Simon. So did he not see Holga as a threat?
