Ok Cin, so I was thinking off the top..

Was that sorta an unrequited love song 'Dianne' was singing? Or just a nice Donny song to set the mood?

Because they have been 'fun buddies' for awhile now, thus sharing some details about their lives; somewhere back in the chapters didn't Bishop reveal some snarky clues about Jackson as well?

Bertie relates Mercy to changing due to grief and Jackson not sure why mentions she is not well at the party... but either way it seems ol' girl "hasn't been well" for awhile now. Sometimes, younger women that marry older men especially much older men have unresolved daddy issues. Mercy seems fragile like she has alot to unpack.

When I looked at the dynamic between Jayce getting upset his son did as well which kinda reminded me of wolves or dogs - when one howls or barks it starts off a chain reaction. Or babies that are around other babies, when one cries the others get upset because that one child is upset. Jackson was kinda feeling his dad's distress and the vibe in the room as well in the infamous "Not now" scenes he was feeling his mother's distress in her voice and body language. Animals and kids. What sentient little beings.

Now if you'll indulge ME for a moment, this is kind of like author's privilege lol I happen to think its the greatest love song ever written so therefore, so do they lol BUT I love a double meaning so, perhaps she was singing it to Jackson in her heart? Or, you know, just a nice Donny song to set the mood.

I would have to go back and review, but the extent of Bishop bringing up Jackson was always to make Mercy feel horrible. He knows she blames herself for his passing and he also knows Jackson is a way to manipulate, control and emotionally abuse the poor woman.

If we let Jayce tell it, Mercy fell in love with Jackson because of his character which she says "grows stronger with age". We don't know much about her father, but I would say perhaps he was several years older than her own mother and maybe this was learned. However I do agree that Mercy has several pieces of luggage in her closet that she hasn't quite unpacked. And the situation she is now finding herself in (recalling past haunts) is a result of never unpacking said luggage.

I have nothing to add, only that I am SO happy you caught on to that. It wasn't just that Little Jack ran out of food, the air suddenly got heavy, the tension in the room made it unbearable and the energy... oh the energy. Little Jack was expressing outwardly what was happening to Jayce internally.

Little Jack aside, there's been a lot of response to Jay's actions over last few weeks, some good and some bad. And I get it, he fell down a rabbit hole. But its a rabbit hole I certainly would have fallen down if it meant I would find out something life changing. And if it didn't, at least I tried. I feel so bad for Jay right now who lost his hero, now thinks his hero wasn't a hero, and had to spend a good chunk of his life watching his mother deteriorate under the spell of a demon.

We should protect him.

An ARCANE Review: Adult animated storytelling at its finest and why there's needs to be more animated series like this immediately.

Alright I know I'm a bit late to the party, well about one year late. But I've been meaning to talk about Netflix animated show Arcane for a while now after having watched it for the very first time a couple of weeks ago...and Man I truly swear this series has got to be one of the best shows. Especially in terms of adult animated series that I have seen as of recently.

Everything about this show from its gorgeously detailed animation to its well-written highly rounded characters, a great soundtrack that fits so well with the scenes they go alongside, its top-notch voice acting as well its cinematic camera angles, and most importantly its fantastic mature compelling well-done storytelling is just marvelous.

And all of it is based on an online game that I barely know next to anything about except that's its a battle arena fighting game and that I've seen ads for it on YouTube. I can't say much about the game, but the show is really something.

Now about the series itself, Arcane is set within a utopian fantasy steampunk-like society where you have the prosperous technologically advanced aristocratic city known as Piltover which on the surface looks like a wonderfully beautiful and peaceful metropolis...but that’s only by appearance. While Piltover from first glance might look like a perfect city, but its has a dark shady side to it amongst its apathetic poor mistreatment of its impoverished lower levels population.  While the show has an driving main focus dealing with the growing rising tensions between Piltover and the Undercity the overall story centers on two orphaned sisters,  Vi and Powder.  Who's relationship and paths will take an unfortunately major turn of events that will alter not only their sisterhood but also the already fragile relations between Piltover and the Undercity that's slowly becoming a battle on the sides of magic and science.  With the people of the Undercity struggling to survive and resisting Piltover violent law enforcement, Slico an ruthless but clever ambitious crime lord who has the ambitions to make Undercity a independent self-sufficient nation.  On the other side of the coin, you have two inventors,  Jayce and Vikor trying to make a revolutionary breakthrough by harnessing the power of magic as a new energy source. With war seemingly brewing closer between Piltover and the Undercity, Vi, and Powder are in the middle of the conflict while the city heads to a breaking point.   Again I don't want to spoil way too much because I feel this show is still better left being fully experienced firsthand.   But for real trust me this series is most definitely worth the watch, truly the best when it comes to adult animation that isn’t your sometimes typical South Park or Family Guy-style sitcom clone. But a good mature well-made show with a equally incredible written emotional story that is such an banger to be seen. 

Seriously this show needs to be watched and Yes, it is as good as other claims it to be.

LD&R Season 3 is actually the only season where I want to rewatch the majority of the episodes. Spoilers ahead for my faves:

Bad Traveling was phenomenal, Torrin is a magnificent bastard, love what we see about this world and want to learn more, I don’t mind the animation, and the crab speaking through dead body just hits a button with me. Shares the latter part with Swarm.

The Very Pulse of The Machine was majorly trippy.

Night of the Mini-Dead had me laughing out loud.

I cried during Mason’s Rats (don’t judge me okay)

In order to accurately describe my love for Jibaro, you’d have to extract the chemicals my brain makes while watching this and ingest the resulting drug. I watched the opening dance/slaughter three times. I’m seeing some weird connections drawn between this and Spanish colonialism in South America. Real lake Guatavita vibes.

Devilman Crybaby (review)

Okay, since some people showed interest I'll start with the last one I watched as it's fresh still.

First of all I'm going to give this a major content warning for those that may want to watch it. It has graphic themes and hides nothing from view including things that may be triggering. It's designed to disgust, fascinate and leave you feeling uncomfortable as you watch. If anime like berserk, elfen lied, various hentai or music videos like DYE fantasy are something you have a hard time with it's taking that up a notch. If you like that stuff (or at least aren't too bothered) or was a major fan of Evangeline you'll probably enjoy this.

So moving on, I'll start as spoiler free as possible so excuse vagueness at times.

Animation:

The animation was... Different. It's not what a lot of anime looks like with the exception of a few movies. The style is flat and at times doesn't read very well. You see what you need to though and as the episodes progress it does improve and your eyes get used to it. It works for it though, it gives the show a very almost drugged feel or appearance which works well for this type of show. It wouldn't have worked if it was polished and sharp like most modern anime. You knew how you were supposed to feel by what was shown. The actual animation was dynamic and actually quite detailed in subtle ways... Though goofy too... I'm looking at you running animation. But it was serious when it needed to be and expressed emotion, emotion was its main goal! As said before you will see a lot of graphic murder scenes, sex scenes (among all genders and living or dead), nudity and other such themes. They did this well and it will leave you both desensitized and uncomfortable by the end.

Music/sound:

At times it was on point, at others it left you going "what?". I watched it in both dub and sub (it's not a long show) and both are decent though the engrish in the sub version can hurt... Though the Japanese in the dub version can also grate on your ears. The opening, hated it... I usually don't say that as I'm one who listens to openings typically... But I wanted to skip it. There's also a lot of freestyle rap in both English and Japanese and if that's not your thing... Well get used to it for the first half at least. The other scores and sounds were good though and didn't leave me complaining; it matched the animation style well.

Characters:

They did a really good job fleshing out the characters and making you feel for them. Main and side characters were pretty well covered and gave you a lot to choose from for favourites. The only character I felt was rushed especially motive wise was Ryo. They sort of just exist to push Akira along; but aside from seeming like they're crushing major hard, has no real motivation until the end and just character flips after learning a few things. So they felt dryer. With all that said, and major spoiler, essentially everything and everyone will break your heart and stomp on it. So be ready for that. The bits that got me the hardest were with Akira and his adoptive family. Like I was sobbing like a baby because things are unfair.

Plot:

I won't give much away if I can help it. The plot is based off a 70's manga and follows it pretty closely. There were 2 other anime series and some ovas too, though I haven't watched them to compare. I've seen clips though and they don't appear as depressing. Basically you're following Akira who starts as a wimpy crybaby just trying to get by in life. He meets up with an old childhood friend Ryo and they take him to a nightclub that is overun by demons in human skin. Ryo triggers an attack and then sacrifices Akira to become a demon himself. The next while is them tag teaming to kill non human demons.

It's fast and has pacing issues at times but considering they covered as much as they did in 10 episodes it's not bad. You won't be too confused by the overall plot, just some of the motives. The end will leave you empty though, no loose ends to tie at least.

Overall:

I liked it for a Netflix anime and would probably watch it again I'm a few months. It's not something that could air or TV or really even cruncyroll and I'm okay with that. It really grew on me the more I watched and I couldn't even take a break, sat through the full thing like it was a movie. And that's the best way to watch something like this in my opinion. I'd give it an 8.5/10 overall and recommend it to those that aren't bothered easily.

Arcane – Review2002

I had a total blast with League of Legends’ Netflix series, and all I knew about that game was it being a MOBA that exists.

You probably have read a lot of glowing reviews about the prequel League of Legends series. Six years in production, this series is visually a 10/10 spectacle that focuses on few of game’s playable characters (from like 150), particularly on sisters Vi and Powder, the latter being destined to become the crazy anarchist Jinx. Their conflict is set in Piltover, which is divided on upper and lower city. The second main plotline focuses on Jayce, a young inventor from the upper city, that wants to improve lives of people by discovering how to harness the power of magic through science.

Let’s say already this is hands down the best video game adaptation ever, maybe excluding some visual novel adaptations that I didn’t watch. But when it comes to adaptations of mainstream video games, Arcane is the undisputed king. Sure, it is a prequel, but LoL is the same type of game like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat or Overwatch – basic premise first, character designs next, any serious thoughts about lore and story only after a commercial success. Who cares today that Raiden was going to destroy the Earth, upon his possible victory over Shang Tsung? Neither you should care about things that Arcane changes in LoL lore, actually good writers are in charge now. My past most favorite video game adaptation was the adaptation of Super Robot Taisen OG2, but even that was a title that was by fans for fans, not for general audience. Thanks to its stellar world-building, Arcane is new audience friendly and to enjoy it you don’t need to know anything about League of Legends (MOBAs are not my type of game, so initially I didn’t even know about Jinx).

But Arcane isn’t just a groundbreaking video game adaptation. It’s a groundbreaking western animation that has a chance to change the landscape of the industry, and introduce to the mainstream Seinen-like type of animation. It’s a full-fledged steampunk fantasy title that touches such motives as corruption and price of technological progress, and how it impacts society and human relationships. It’s the kind of series that they tried to make with Legend of Korra, but without hack writers. When mainstream producers on the west think you can’t sell to its audience serious and mature story, without making a live action version of it, which results in butchering anime and Disney, Arcane proves them wrong by demonstrating how animation is enhancing such stories.

Arcane hits a perfect mix of being idealistic, like Disney and Avatar the Last Aribender, and gritty, like good seasons of Game of Thrones. One of major characters is a three foot tall talking animal forefather figure, this is flat-out Kingdom Hearts stuff. The series is also filled with moments of idealism and actions sequences that you can find in any enjoyable, albeit cliché, series. Only this series isn’t cliché. It can for a moment play things straight, and do everything exactly what AtLA would have done in a given situation… but moment later everything suddenly goes shit, because the most brutally realistic thing happens – something that would have happened in a good season of GoT. Finale of the episode three is the perfect example of that. It is a classic scenario where the brave inexperienced youth has to prove its worth, by saving their older mentor from his personal arch-nemesis. And it plays out that way, beat by beat, until suddenly everything turns into something else.

This is why Arcane works so well. When the series is happy, it’s colorful. When the series is bright, it’s filled with wonder. When the series is being idealistic, it’s with utmost sincerity. And when you watch action sequences, they are awesome. Because it’s an animation, where things can be exaggerated in such a way, and it doesn’t look out of place. Because it’s an animation, you let yourself to be tricked, you lose yourself in the moment, you forget you are watching a series that has opened itself with little children seeing war crimes. And then the series reminds you what you’re watching. It reminds you that you are watching a tragedy where genuine good intentions can turn completely horribly. This series plays this trick over and over again, and it always works out. When Disney movies have dark moments, like death of Mufasa, they serve to set up the triumphal victory of its heroes. In Arcane, light set ups the impending darkness of its foregone conclusion. When Disney is an animated classic comedy, Arcane is an animated classic tragedy. That’s how it gets you. It’s not an innovative story, many of its themes and character ideas were already done elsewhere. But it’s an incredibly well told story, that takes full advantage of its medium and, nowadays, really does aim higher than others.

On technical level, I’ve already said the series is 10/10 visually. Characters are constantly moving, including their expressions. Cinematography is great, directing is on point and action scenes are kickass, oftentimes stylish. And everything looks good. If the series wasn’t so good written, you still would be able to watch it for the stellar spectacle alone. Music also is good, but can be sometimes weaker.

So, how do I rate it? When I give game or a story 9/10, I say it is great. It means that it has accomplishes something great (my past 9/10 accomplished a great finale to a just enjoyable silly series), and it’s generally flawless. But when do I give 10/10? When do I call something a masterpiece? When it not only fulfills all requirement for a 9/10 title, but is also groundbreaking. When they can change the medium. And I do believe that Arcane can change western animation. Its success can show executors that you don’t have to butcher stories that work better in animation, by turning them into less suited live action. And it also shows how mature stories can be told in animation. This is why I believe Arcane earns 10/10.

However. I’d give this series 9/10, if it was anime, not western animation. And it isn’t only because anime do have more examples of good Seinens. Arcane does have flaws, although most amount to nitpicks. Even the biggest flaw I see just makes me shake my head with slight disappointment. But it’s a flaw that is related to the main tragedy, and it takes time and opportunity away from touching its true core. It’s also an example of shoehorned representation taking away from otherwise great writing, while also being an example of a plain bad writing excused by its representation. More in the spoiler section.

Just imagine either as a dude  

Caitlyn and Vi oh-so-subtle lesbian romance subplot is the weakest part of the series. If you don’t see it that way, you would have, if they were a heterosexual pair.

I didn’t read into LoL lore to check how close they are. From the barebones I get, female commissioner Gordon hired a female Batman. If Arcane took this angle and showed them respecting one another due to their differences mutually complementing them, it would be much better. If they want to develop them into a pair, that’s a material for Season 2. If they wanted to tease it more explicitly, they could have Jinx talking about knowing her sister’s tastes.

The series does establish why Vi and Cait get along better, with Vi proving herself useful to Cait’s investigation, and Cait saving Vi’s life, and then Vi saving Cait. That’s a solid foundation for bonds of friendship, upon which you can build your lesbian romance. You don’t skip straight to romance, especially when you establish neither as being into girls until their meeting. Before meeting Vi, Caitlin was romancing with Jayce. As for Vi, she was too preoccupied with her sister and getting street creed to swing either way. But sudden lesbians find out they are into each other, but things don’t work so well, and they must split. The tragedy of oil and water! Give me a break with this rushed forced nonsense.

This romance is detrimental to characters, not just Vi and Cait, but also Jinx. But let’s first focus on the pair, by demonstrating why they suck. And we can do that by imagining either as a dude.

So, Caitlyn and Vittan. The naïve proper lady policewoman, and male cynical former leader of a teenage gang, in search of his unwillingly abandoned younger sister. Caitlyn was previously romanced by Jayce, but she didn’t like a man of science and success that tried to be overly protective of her, so she found somebody who is more rough on her. He screws with her, tricks her into pretending to be a prostitute, but at least helps her to advance with her investigation. He gets stupidly injured and keeps important secrets from her, but she saves his life. Then he saves her from his sister, but remains an impulsive man that prefers to do own thing, because using Cait’s mother’s connections didn’t work. Though he still used what he has learned from her, to talk her friend Jayce into helping him out with his vendetta against Silco, behind her back. Vittan is quite an asshole, but Cait is set up to choose him over Jayce.

So, Caito and Vi. The naïve proper gentle policeman, and female cynical former leader of a teenage gang, in search of her unwillingly abandoned younger sister. Vi is driven by her guilt and knows that her sister does awful things now, but prefers to believe she does it for the sake of self-survival. She initially can’t stand Caito, so she tries to mess with him, and then finally gets rid of him. She does it in the simplest way possible, by leaving the horny man with a prostitute. Sure, Caito ends up saving her when she messes up on her own. But that blockhead not only withholds that his true aim is a stolen technology, but also ruins her reunion with her sister. Vi thinks she still has to find her sister that is under bad influence, but chooses to save Caito instead. Caito drags her to a place that turns out to be his bedroom, because for some suspicious reason he didn’t want to use main doors. Supposedly, Caito has in the council a friend with the opposite gender. And between said friend, the prostitute from the club, and Vi, Caito sure likes jumping the flower. When Vi decides to stop working with Caito, he suddenly asks “what about us?”, really quickly escalating the relationship between them. That dude sure is stupid and lustful. And maybe it’s still wrong to kill him on Jinx’s request, but somehow Vi acts all heartbroken over it and is meant to eat up his dull advances.

Lesbians in media. Isn’t it insulting for women, to write them as shut-ins that rebel against their parents and escape from them, after stealing everything valuable they have, over a piece of juvenile punk-star genitalia? Apparently not, if said piece of genitalia is a vagina – Gone Home got critically acclaimed this way. Go figure.

Anyway, the badness of this romance is also detrimental to Jinx’s character, so let’s move onto that…

Lost focus on how the monster was created

Jinx can hate Caitlyn and be hallucinating things about her, but that whole jealously over a girlfriend (or even a boyfriend, if that was the case) is distracting the viewer from the core of Arcane’s main tragedy – Jinx is Vi’s creation, Silco only accelerated what Vi had put into Powder.

And it’s a great tragedy. Powder is a result of outside influence (looking at the crows and reading into the lore, there is possibly an even more dreadful influence over her), same as Vi. They both share a tragic past and live in a harsh world. Even when Vander helped them, both with preparing them to face their harsh reality, and also ensuring some peaceful order in it.

But Vi was driven by her anger towards Piltover and its enforcers. Again, perfectly understandable, they were responsible for the situation in undercity and death of her parents. This is why Vi wanted renown and street creed. This is why she had her fuck the police attitude. This is why she was willing to rob a man that has done nothing wrong to them (and actually was nice to her little friend), just because he was from the upper city. And Vi put all that into Powder, made her idolize her being eager to prove herself (robbing Piltover without consulting Vander) and rebelliously independent (withholding stolen crystals from him). She encouraged her to her learn shooting at people. She approved of her learning to make bombs. All so Powder would make her happy by demonstrating her usefulness to her cause against Piltover.

Jinx is made out of all of those things. As a kid, Powder knew no right no wrong, but what she has picked up from her sister. And Vi’s first act character arc was learning to realize that actions have consequences, that picking a fight with Piltover will result in confrontation, which very possibly will result in Powder losing her life. Vi has learned her lesson, which is why she decided to sacrifice herself to Piltover. But things happened, Vander needed saving, Vi had no time explain her newfound worries to Powder, and then everything went downhill. Silco picked up Powder and encouraged her towards the exact same direction Vi had, just without any restraint.

Really, nails grenade. Powder always was desperate to prove her worth, even if by killing somebody. Vi was both stuck in the past and blind about past signs of Jinx forming herself.

And that could be the focus of Jinx’s obsession over Caitlyn. She was literally an enforcer of Piltover’s will, her and her sister’s natural enemy. And she intended to prevent Jinx from giving the lower city an edge over the upper city. And Vi was helping her now? Sure, anything useful to reunite with her sister. If that’s the case, Vi shouldn’t have a problem with killing the stupid enforcer woman, once she outlives her usefulness. Oh, Vi is hesitant, because the enforcer has saved her life? Suddenly not into wronging any upper city twit? Suddenly it matters when they are alright? What has changed, since we had robbed her nice to us boyfriend and blew up his apartment? Why don’t you love me when I only follow your example, Vi? Why did you want me to learn how to shoot at people and blow them up, Vi!? Did you tell her the things you were happy with me doing as a kid?! Hey, my sister’s girlfriend! Tell me – did I go insane, or was she the insane one in the first place!?!

The final song of the series begins with the words “I am the monster you created”. This is the intended core of Arcane’s beautiful tragedy between Vi and Jinx – the supposed heroic sister is responsible for her villainous sister, nobody else. Vi has failed Powder, and was constantly failing her since the beginning. Now only Jinx remains, Vi’s creation.

Nonetheless, Arcane has still done a groundbreaking job with Jinx. The show has picked up a Harley Quinn knockout, le crazy wacky girl, and has done tremendous job with turning her into something better. There is no shame anymore in Jinx being based on another character, like there never was any shame in Batman being based on Zorro. Jinx is now her own tragic figure – an unfortunate confused girl that has been corrupted by wrongs of her world, turned into a living reckoning against it. She has outgrown the wacky psychiatrist that ended up being manipulated by the Joker.

And that’s a testament to Arcane’s stellar, even if leaving a room for improvement, writing.

“Arcane”, Riot’s Literary Tragedy (Or "Why This Whole Mess is Everyone's Fault")

TL,DR - It’s not a question of “Team Vi” or “Team Jinx”. The consequences of the story are everyone’s fault, and that’s part of why Arcane is so good.

At this point, Arcane is the new darling of Netflix and has received nothing but glowing reviews. It’s a smash, in a word, and unparalleled for its time. And while you could point out the animation, or the casting, or the characterization, to name a few, as the reason for its success, but I’d like to take this opportunity to point out one aspect of the series that I haven’t heard talked about enough - tragedy. When I use that word, I’m referring to tragedy in a literary sense, a la “The Crucible” or “Macbeth”, stories that invoke catharsis. For a recent reference, I’d hold up “The Lighthouse” by Robert Eggers.

The best articulation for tragedy in storytelling was dictated by Tom Stoppard in “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” - “The bad end unhappily; the good, unluckily.” Where something “tragic” could be described as “untimely” or “unfortunate”, “tragedy” is something that you can see coming because you expect a person or a character to act or behave in a certain way. With that metric in mind, the concept of “morality” in Arcane or what team you happen to be on becomes superfluous because Arcane is a story driven by the flaws of all the characters.

There isn’t a single character in Arcane who isn’t flawed, and Heimerginder is the chief example of a character many haven’t perceived as such. Heimerdinger is flawed within the context of the story. While we as an audience understand Heimerdinger’s fear and caution is well-placed and warranted in terms of Runeterra’s lore, as well as his own, his caution and hesitance to progress is perceived as resistance and cowardice. Rare is it that we see a wizened and venerable councilor in a character get dethroned from his position of power in the way Heim was unanimously ousted. It’s profound in that WE know Heim is right since we know who Viktor, Vander, and Powder will all become, but there was no morality attached to why Heim had his “unlucky” end as a councilor.

So, when someone poses the question of “Whose fault is this?”, the answer should be “Where do you start?” It’s Vi’s fault for not noticing an “obvious” trap set just for her and for driving Powder away in her rage. It’s Powder’s fault for stealing and keeping the crystals hidden, then playing with power she didn’t understand. It’s Ekko’s fault for tipping off a gang of ambitious and hungry “sumpsnipes” to a big score and for hesitating on the bridge when he had the upper hand against Jinx. It’s Jayce and Viktor’s fault for pushing against the established institutions and Mel’s fault for enabling them. It’s Silco’s fault that Jinx eventually shot and killed him.

I could go on. Nobody gets a pass in Arcane, and that’s part of its identity and profound success.

As fans of League prior to Arcane’s release, there’s no doubt there’s going to be some bias as far as how much we like the series. However, the series is good in spite of that and nothing comes close to its quality. It’s warranted to be called some of the best television that you’ve ever seen. The only mystery to me at this point is whether or not Arcane was written as a devastatingly good literary tragedy on purpose.

The bar is set pretty damn high. I look forward to the second season.

Arcane (2021) Review:

(SOME BRIEF SPOILERS IF YOU SOMEHOW HAVEN’T SEEN IT)

Now here’s the thing: I never played League Of Legends, nor read the lore about it, I did see a few animations, but that’s it.

So from a non-fans point of view, I might see this show like your typical video game adaptation that always turns out like trash right?

Well to my surprise…. No it isn’t, and you wanna know why?

Because it’s incredible.

No seriously, Arcane is really incredible.

I mean everything about is so good, that I don’t have anything negative to say about this show.

Like literally, every aspect about this show is so good, that it’ll make you say: Wow, this is really good.

Speaking of which, let’s talk about them:

Firstly the story is really consistent and easy to follow, which is surprising considering that the show has quite a complex plot, considering that it’s not only about two sisters reuniting, but also about the effects of politics, and the discovery of magic and technology, like tell me that doesn’t sound complex on paper.

But somehow those mad lads did it, I don’t know how, but they did it.

And it’s sooooo compelling too, like Jesus it’s so good that it’ll make you so invested in the world, and the characters.

And speaking of characters, they were properly well written and developed, there’s no awkward line delivery or any cheesy one liners, or cartoonish depictions of each of the characters.

The chemistry between the characters are also well written and properly developed, such as Vi’s relationship with both Vander (her father figure), Powder/Jinx (her sister), Ekko, and Caitlyn, Jinx’s relationship with Silco (her father figure), and Silco’s relationship with Jinx as well, Viktor and Jayce’s relationship, along with Jayce and Mel’s, the list goes on and on, but you get the point.

Plus each of the character arcs are so good and compelling that it’ll make you wanna either root for the character, sympathize with them, or make you wanna boo for them.

Next up, is the soundtrack, MY GOD, the soundtrack SLAPS

Both the original score and the songs are so good, that to this day, I still listen to them, that’s how good they are, (especially the intro by Imagine Dragons, because that SLAPS HARD)

The songs here weren’t placed at random points, they were placed at the perfect place and at the perfect time to the point where when watch a seen and listening to that song accompany it it’ll make you either feel so amped, or it will make you cry.

Now I wanna talk about the ending of the 1st season because my god, it was a gut punch of an ending.

Seeing Jinx fire the nuke at the council’s office as they agree with Jayce’s opinion on establishing peace with Silco, while both Vi and Caitlyn watch, while a montage of some of the characters (i.e. Sevika all alone in Silco’s office lighting her cigarette, and Heimerdinger and Ekko working together) and seeing the nuke hit the council and cuts to credits, was so emotional and gut wrenching, that I was about to cry.

I’m sure there’s more I wanna talk about, but that’s pretty much it on what I thought about Arcane, it’s really good, and if you’re hesitant on watching this show since you’re either not a League fan or if you hate League, then I would suggest watch this, it doesn’t involve too much on fan service, and in fact feels more like an origin story to most of the characters, so yeah, would recommend.

Now this might be a little extreme, but the rating I’ll give Arcane might the only time I’ll ever give a movie or show this rating but here it is……

Arcane gets a…….

10/10

Yes, this is the only time you’ll see me rate a 10/10 for a TV show.

Because it’s so good, like….. IT’S SO DAMN GOOD.

Just thinking how Langa really went head empty, no thoughts except REKI and resultingly crashed into Reki while skating because he was literally all Langa could think about and he got overwhelmed with the strength of his feelings so much he forgets to actually steer his skating despite literally being able to get in the skating zone and barely needing to think, i.e. it's instinct to him at that point. And this happened multiple times.

S2 Ep9 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Belos and Hunter have the same exact notch or scar on one of their ears

The diagram we see in the book at the beginning of the episode shows what appears to be a humanoid sketch that looks eerily similar to Hunter

The eye color of the sketch, and Hunter's eyes are very similar if not the same as those of Hononculi, like those seen in anime (Fate Series, etc)

Belos, like Kikimora said to Raine in episode 7, said "the titan has big plans for you"

Hunter's whole existential crisis during this whole episode is that he can't justify his existence unless he's useful to papa Belos, hence why we see him digging his own grave at the "lake". Even when we see what looks like Amity beginning to reach him, he sees the key on her neck and immediately snaps back to his initial mission. 'Find titan blood, get key w titan blood, give to Belos, he'll like me again and will trust me again, otherwise there's no point in me existing.

It's kind or ironic that this boy is so worried about his existence being pointless if he's not useful to Belos when all this time he very well may be the biggest part to Belos plans for the day of unity. Whether he wants to be or not.

Recently found out that we're getting a season 2 of Arcane...

SPOILERS AHEAD! READ AT UR OWN RISK!!!

Like I'm genuinely excited to see where season 2 takes us, especially with Vi/Caitlyn's relationship and the status of the council since...well the cliffhanger they left us on🥲💀

Also with Silco gone now, what gonna happen with "Zaun", aka lower Piltover???

Are Vi and Vaitly gonna try and keep things at bay w the help of enforcers while the council try and figure their stuff out?

Now with Heimerdinger hanging out with Ekko, will there be a third civilization for the fissure people of Piltover?

What's Jayce and Mel's relationship looking like? R they gonna be like friends w benefits or like an actual couple? (If they survive the mf missile rocket Jinx shot at them, that is...)

How is Vi gonna cope with Jinx's "death", like sis literally vaporized herself to celebrate her and her sister's new beginnings IN FRONT OF said sister and said sister's girlfriend? (Aaaaand this was after holding them hostage at a tea party while playing a botched game of 'Russian Rulette'...sounds a wee bit traumatic if ya ask me.

And most importantly WTF is gonna happen with Vi and Caitlyn's relationship??? (It's obvious these girls gay af for each other, just a matter of time...and writing...time and writing😏🥳)
