October 1996. The thing I've never really been able to get over about BOUND is that while it's a groundbreaking lesbian thriller and Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon are great, the actual movie consists of a really disproportionate amount (like 60 percent by weight or volume) of Joe Pantoliano losing his shit. Considered purely as a low-budget crime thriller, it's fine — it's clever, and the unexpected escalations that cause Caesar to unravel are reasonably credible in context — but if you signed on primarily for the lesbians, it's pretty frustrating that you get maybe a half hour of excellent wlw content followed by like an hour of Joey Pants coming unglued while the Gina Gershon character is tied up in the kitchen, with a bit of additional lesbian content at the very end as a kind of digestif. The 1996 Wachowski film "Bound" is slated to get a 4K release soon and I hope it gets Atmos like the Matrix films did!
