SABEZRA WEEK: Extra Gift

Before Sabezra Week 2022 wraps up, I'd like to present something special to one of our most talented fellow shippers.

@meldy-arts is a fantastically talented artist who drew some spectacular fanart of Rebels during its run. Though she was a little late to the shipping party, Meldy's work included some wonderful Sabezra pics that includes a group of fankids most of us are very familiar with. To commemmorate the end of Sabezra Week, I offer up my renditions of what Meldy dubbed her Bluebean Babies;

Some Jonah Wren-Bridger Headcanons

Jonah is, as you probably know, part of the Miraverse - the largest of @meldy-arts‘ incredible AUs. Her art is great and you should check it out and commission her.

Jonah identifies as a Mandalorian first and foremost.

He’d consider himself to be Lothalian too though - he might be Mandalorian, but Lothal is his home.

He wasn’t entirely planned - with a mysterious “First Order” becoming an increasingly real threat and growing numbers of children going missing all over the Outer Rim - bringing another child into the galaxy was a harder decision than the previous two.

They don’t regret him though. Not ever.

He doesn’t have any significant Force sensitivity, beyond a very vague idea if his dad or sisters are trying to check if he’s okay through the Force.

He can seem a tiny bit distractible at times (especially when, as a teen, cute people are involved), but this isn’t always a bad thing.

He was a big fan of things like finger painting and such, when he was tiny. His sisters have joked he’s never really stopped painting since!

He says he’s nowhere near as talented as his mother or grandfather - but that doesn’t mean much, since they’re both amazing artists!

He wears his full armour the most out of his siblings - a good suite of sensors in his helmet helps him out in a household full of force-sensitives.

Rona, despite being firmly not a Mandalorian, helped her younger brother a lot with various armour designs and integrated technology.

Vambrace mounted shield emitters, repulsors and grappling lines all benefited from Rona’s study of power distribution and the like - just like it benefited her lightsaber.

Jonah was on his own to try and make his jetpack shoot multi-coloured flames though!

He’s not a fan of a fair few Wrens - the ones that act familiar with him, but insult his sisters behind their backs.

Holidays on Krownest are still really fun, though.

He isn’t a huge fan of the shaved ice dessert (that @amaximinalist came up with), since Krownest is already rather cold, but adores any of the deserts with spiced fruit in.

As well as painting and sparring, he spent his free time helping to teach and train the kids that were rescued from Luke’s academy. He helped a few of them design an extra garden by their large house, and still likes to help them grow and maintain it.

Who are you?

Hera took Jacen back to Lothal to actually meet Sabine this time. She came home, with Ezra. Sabine did offer for Ahsoka to stay but she had other matters to attend to. Hera landed outside the Ezra's former tower. Jacen was extremely excited to finally see his Auntie Sabine and Ezra. They walked up the stairs and saw Sabine, Ezra and a few kids that they didn't recognize.

"So you are seriously from another Universe and your our kids?" Sabine pointed to the three younger children. One girl had long dark blue hair with one brown and one blue eye. The other girl had curly blue hair with blue eyes, and the boy had brown eyes and brown hair.

"Yup! And those two are our 'Aunt' and 'uncle', Dawn and Kai Jarrus." The older girl responded with a grin. She then pointed to the female and male Twi'leks, the girl had blotches of tan on her green skin and the boy was fully green. Sabine and Ezra glanced at each other with shock. Jacen and Hera looked in with the same expressions.

"I can't believe this." Ezra started rubbing his forehead. Jacen walked in and everyone looked at him.

"Oh hi Jace! Didn't know you were in this Universe too!" Dawn called out.

"Huh?" Hera also walked in, her eyes wide.

"Oh hey Mom!" Kai waved at her while Hera just stood at the door frame.

"What is going on?" She asked with an annoyed voice.

"Oh I forgot this is another Universe. I'm Mira. Those two are my little sister and brother. Rona and Jonah. This is Dawn and Kai, they are yours and Papa Kanan's kids. We are Sabine and Ezra's kids. Jacen is also in our universe, but he didn't come." And Mira just kept smiling through the whole little Speech.

"What the kri-" Hera started but Ezra cut her off

"There are Children here." He whispered. "But I seriously thought you two would be happy to see me."

"We are! But this is kinda strange. Your seriously from another Universe?" Jacen asked.

"Yeah. Recently we have been going to different universes. Last one we went to had a girl with purple hair and she was also our sister. Her names's Reybel." Everyone but the kids were surprised.

"Where's dad?" Kai asked. Hera looked down and held back tears. Jacen looked at them with a depressing face. Dawn and Mira caught on but the others didn't. Dawn whispered an "Oh." But Kai just looked at her.

"What? What is i- oh. Oh." He then realized and so did Rona and Jonah.

"Yeah. My- our dad died before I was born." Ezra, Sabine and Hera remembered that night. The the kids could sense their pain, so they decided to change the subject.

"Have you ever met Ben Solo? Or Poe Dameron?" Mira asked. Poe was one of her best friends at the academy. He wasn't a student but he came by now and then, he also stood up to Ben when she couldn't. That was rare but it happened. Ben would always yell at her because of her dual heritage, he thinks a Jedi and a Mandolorian shouldn't be married, Let alone have kids. He doesn't taunt Rona and Jonah much because they only identify as a Jedi or a Mando. Mira identifies as both.

"I've met Poe and his parents before. Shara and Kes had a similar experience with having a kid in the Rebellion so we talked alot. But I don't know who Ben is. Maybe he's only in your Universe." Hera responded.

"Maybe. But he's General Organa and Solo's son. He's pretty rude though. He doesn't like our heritage."

"What do you mean?" Sabine asked. She was obviously interested in this.

"He thinks a Jedi and a Mandolorian shouldn't have kids or be married. He doesn't pick on Ro or Jonah Because they don't really see themselves as both. I do and he thinks that's wrong. If he isn't in this Universe your lucky. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to pick on Jacen." Mira huffed and pulled back her hair. They sat there for a moment before Dawn got up and went outside.

"Hey ez?" She called.

"Yes?"

"Was Lothal always like this?" Ezra went outside with her and looked out too while everyone watched.

"No. I guess it did at one time but I never saw it. It looked alright for a little while but a little before I left it was all scorched. And now... Now it looks much better. I'm glad Sabine took such care of it." He looked back at her and she smiled.

"It was nothing. Just trying to restore an entire planet."

"Is this them flirting?" Jacen whispered to Mira.

"Probably." She said back, giggling. Mira was surprised every one seemed to accept them so fast. Even Mira thought it was pretty weird that they could travel to other Universes.

"What did you mean by that Ben would probably bully me too?"

"Oh. Since you are a hybrid he'd probably notice it and say it's 'Wrong'. Kai and Dawn look full Twi'lek and you don't. You look human but have ears like a Twi'lek and you have patches of green. It's like me having one brown eye and one blue. You look more like a mix, and Ben doesn't like that." Jacen looked at her and noticed her eyes. He wanted to change the subject

"Why are your eyes like that anyways?"

"Mommy tells me it's a mutation. It's called Heterochromia. I think it's because I have duel heritage. Like I'm half Mando and half Jedi." She smiled, but it faded soon.

"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to grandpa Kanan?" Jacen was almost scared to tell her. Mostly because Kai and Dawn were next to her.

"He saved me. Me, mom, Sabine and Ezra. There was an explosion, and he kept them safe. Mom doesn't talk about it much though." They were once again silent, Mira was thinking about how hard that would be. Seeing someone you love so much get killed right in front of you.

"Was this before you were born?"

"Yeah. I think mom didn't even know she was pregnant yet until after. But I've seen him, I've seenMandolor"How?"

"His force ghost." Jacen said nothing after that. Kai and Dawn were listening too, while Rona and Jonah were inside talking.

"I've answered your questions, can I ask you some?" Jacen asked.

"Of course."

"How did you get here?" Mira raised her eyebrow but then realized he meant how she got into this Universe.

"Not exactly sure. I can't remember."

"Alright. What's it like in your Universe?"

"Pretty good! The Empire has been gone for a while now. I live here on Lothal and sometimes on Mandalore. I hear the empire is gone here too."

"Yeah, it was a few months ago. Mom fought the battle of Endor and I stayed on Lira San. When she came back she told me we won. It was a good day." He smiled. They talked for a few minutes, while the others also interacted. But before long Mira started to sense something. She looked around and saw a bright light within The tower.

"Woah. What's that?" Ezra was heading to it but Rona grabbed his arm.

"I think if you go into that you will come to our universe and things will get messed up."

"I'm pretty sure that's why Jacen didn't come with us." Jonah finished. They said their goodbyes- Mira asked Sabine and Ezra If she could exist in this Universe too and Hera started laughing- and they left. Jacen turned to Sabine and Ezra who where still blushing.

"So... Will Mira exist here?"
