“But I will dance, I will sing, and my laugh shall be gay I will charm every heart, in this crown I will sway But I long to see him then regret the dark hour He's gone and neglected this frail wildwood flower Well, he taught me to love him and he called me his flower That was blooming to cheer him through life's scary hour And my heart is now wondering, oh, misery can tell He's left me no warning, no words of farewell”
From Wildwood Flower, June Carter Cash

I love songs about horses, railroads, land, Judgment Day, family, hard times, whiskey, courtship, marriage, adultery, separation, murder, war, prison, rambling, damnation, home, salvation, death, pride, humour, piety, rebellion, patriotism, larceny, determination, tragedy, rowdiness, heartbreak and love. And Mother. And God.
- Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash and June Carter at Fulsom Prison. For decades Cash nearly always opened his gigs with Folsom Prison Blues after greeting the audience with the same introduction each time: “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash,”. On 13th January 1968, Johnny Cash and June Carter, the Statler Brothers, the Tennessee Three, with Carl Perkins on guitar, recorded a live version of the song before the prisoners of Folsom State Prison, Folsom, California.

On this day: March 25, 2014
Legacy Recordings and the estate of Johnny Cash released Out Among the Stars. This was Johnny's fourth posthumous studio album and his 71st album overall. The tracks on this album were originally "lost" recordings made from 1981-1984 with the famous country producer Billy Sherill. The recordings were shelved by Johnny's label, Columbia Records, after poor sales of the 1981 album The Baron. The tracks were rediscovered in 2012 by Johnny's son, John Carter Cash. June Carter Cash is also featured on two tracks. Country music legends Minnie Pearl and Waylon Jennings also appear on the album. The album debuted at #3 on the US Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums. In the UK, the album debuted at #4. It remained on the US Billboard Top 200 for 13 weeks.
