Cherry Blossom Battle Ax

The latest Azur Lane update is wonky as f*ck. Like, it’s not bad, mostly Quality of Life stuff, not a major event, but I'd be lying if i said this didn’t feel like filler to me. I do enjoy the addition of Swirling Cherry Blossoms in War Archives. I genuinely like Noshiro so having the opportunity to unlock her without burning Cubes or wasting a Wish, is pretty dope. The Rising of the Ship Heroes mini event was fun. You didn’t really get to do anything but i liked the old school game feel. Plus, the new costumes for the Starters are adorable. I am particularly fond of Laffey and Z23′s new outfits. Manjuu also dropped a brand new Iron Blood boat; Little Spee.

Baby Spee is a point accumulation reward. I don’t know how these Pursuit thing work, I've never really paid attention, but i do know you can immediately equip her as an NPC, send her into battle, and stock up on Trust Points. Oddly enough, she’s locked between not only the Points wall, but a time lock as well. You need to get a total of one thousand points in order to actually have her added to your dock permanently, but that’s not even an option until, like, the nineteenth? Bro, i was able to get those points day one, strictly based on my EXP grind. I’m working toward banking enough EXP for my Elite Iron Blood ships, already finished for my UR and SR boats, so just doing my daily was enough to secure Lil’ Spee. Little Spee was a bonus in a lot of ways because, the gem for me this update was the inclusion of the new ships purchasable in the Merit shop, one of which is actually a huge favorite of mine.

Imagine my surprise when i was reading through the Patch Notes and came across the new additions, Hibiki and Kinu. I already have a Hibiki but not Kinu and i f*cking NEEDED her! Kinu, Shimakaze, and Akagi are my unicorns for the Sakura Empire so actually having the opportunity to grab one is everything. And grab one i did. It took a few days, and A LOT of shop refreshes, but i was able to purchase my darling Kinu this morning and immediately went to work. I had a ton of EXP packs banked up and blew through them, not all but a lot, in order to level her all the way to 120, obviously Awakening along the way. I had more than enough Universal Bulins to, not only fully Limit Break her, but also complete that Retrofit in one go. This gave me enough milestones to actually complete her Memory, too. Well, almost fully. That’s right, within half an hour of unlocking Kinu, i was able to max her out fully. I still need to raise that Affection level and finish learning her all of her Abilities but she is all but complete at this point. All that’ left is the grind and i am all about that anyway so it’s whatever. All i know is, another of my favorite Nihon girls is in my dock and i feel pretty good about that.

Overall, i am pretty happy with this update. It’s not my goddamn Orthant Rerun but that’s okay. That one will come in time and I'll get my missing Iron Blood girls. In the meantime, i am not mad adding a new Kraut boat here and there, or interacting with little fun moments like the Ship Heroes event. Those costumes are dope and i love anytime we add a mini-event to the war Archives. This sh*t is a wild frustration for me because The Enigma and the Shark (the mini event whee you unlock the only other KMS boat i don’t have, U-110) might, eventually, find it’s way there. The reality is wildly more frustrating because that sh*t is already available in the Archive, just on JP/CN servers. It’s like Manjuu is blue-balling me on purpose! That disappointing reality aside, I was able to finally add Kinu to my dock and that, in of itself, is a boon. Kind of wish there was more to do but, what we got, is actually pretty satisfying.
