You know what?

I absolutely loved that in Strange New Worlds, Uhura is applauded as a genius because she can speak over twenty languages and the reason she can do that is because she's from Kenya, and learned all of those languages in order to communicate with her neighbors.

And I love that her episode was about her singing to a sentient comet that communicated through music.

Because Uhura in the old series, while woefully underdeveloped, used to sing too.

And I appreciated that they paid some respect to Uhura's heritage in a way that made sense, and also paid homage to her character from the old series, by having her singing and her language skills save the day.

Good on you, snw.

'Lost in Translation' has to be the ep I've enjoyed the most this season tbh

I love the implication that Kirk got sucker punched by Uhura and just went 'Yes, I will respect and worship her for the rest of our natural lives' cause that's just a valid reaction. It's relatable, uhura could punch me and I would thank her.

I love that the ep demonstrates her empathy, love for others and the connections she feels that makes her so good at her job. I love that it showcased her grief, her dealing with losing others and the questions that arises in a person. It was right, only she could've understood it was a message, only she could've related to the aliens. CRG absolutely kills it this episode, I'm loving her version of Uhura. Unlike some others, I can genuinely see her becoming her tos character because the blocks are there and they're done well in this ep.

Also, Spock and Kirk finally met, uhura facilitated that and they all clearly get along and it made sense and I can only applaude the ep that does that
