Thinking about MAG 101 again, specifically the line “He cared for her, he trusted her, and she fed him to me.” Like !!!! The fact that this story is being narrated simultaneously by the monster and the person being consumed by the monster, the fact that you can hear Michael Shelley in that line, and you can hear the Distortion, but neither of them can tell their own story because what they’re describing changed them so fundamentally that they don’t exist anymore in the same way they did at the beginning of it. Am I making any sense?

I just realized something.
If Michael hadn't "died", the dynamic between it and Jon could have been so interesting.
Jon made it feel human. Telling him its story allowed it to literally accept who he was. Allowed him to make peace with his past.
But also - Jon was still the Archivist. The successor of the person Michael had hated most in the world, of the person who had inflicted all this suffering on it. Michael had spent so much time hating Jon for what Gertrude did, this hatred building up over time until it became so strong that it distracted the Distortion from its actual plans, from its own nature.
Michael hated Jon. But he also sort of anchored it to humanity - although the Distortion had never been human.
If Michael had stayed Michael, but hadn't managed to kill Jon for some reason - i would have loved to see how that could have played out.

"It's earlier than I had hoped, but that's life I suppose...your life!"
Sorry if you were expecting more fluff, I'm doing something scary next 😅 two shots left on this one, and it's Michael's scary laugh entrance.

Thinking about Jon’s time with the Circus again. Thinking about what a month spent in a refrigerated warehouse would do (because it would have to be refrigerated, wouldn’t it? it’s meant to store waxworks), just how cold his skin would be. Do you think it even still felt like his skin? Do you think his fingers brushed the skin of his arm and felt only the inhuman chill of wax, and his arm received the touch of his hand and felt only the dead press of plastic?
Thinking about how thoroughly his time with the Stranger would have made him a stranger to himself.
