Okay so, I’m definitely an x (y/n) binge reader and I happen to come across https://www.tumblr.com/d4suki/699427094293299200/forget-the-love-at-first-sight-give-me this post.

And that got me thinking, huh, that sounds a lot like Donnie too.

HERE WE ARE WITH SOME DONNIE HEADCANNONS WITH THIS CONTEXT~~

- Donnie. The purple themed turtle seemed to always be in his little world. He loves being in his little world.

- Donnie doesn’t like emotions. He finds it hard to deal with them. He doesn’t understand them, and has no way of comprehending them because of how unpredictable they are.

- Donnie doesn’t like dealing with emotional people, his orange brother being one of the only exceptions.

- Donnie doesn’t understand why you admire him so much.

- Or, maybe he’s just so awesome that you can’t help but stare at him while he’s working…

- Donnie received many gifts from you, he’s become fond of you and your little gifts to help with his simulation. He cherishes them a lot.

- You love helping Donnie in his lab. Frankly all you do is hand him the tools you need.

- You always listen to his rambles, even if you don’t understand a single thing that he’s uttering out of his lips.

- Donnie finds himself staring at you when you’re playing with one of his brothers. Why??

- You haven’t texted Donnie all day. Are you okay? Did something happen? Oh you had extracurriculars…

- You lightly brushed over Donnie’s side, sparks are igniting in the parts you touched. Why is this happening?

- Donnie couldn’t help but think how cute you were when you were doing school work. You were so focused and your concentration made it look like you were glaring lasers at your homework. It’s adorable. He covers his mouth to hide a small smile tracing his lips.

- Donnie has the urge to ruffle your hair once you’ve achieved anything really. Your hair is very soft.

- Oh god.

- How did it get like this?? How did he get here??

- There was no way, NO WAY, that his scientific ass was crushing on you.

- He stayed up thinking about you once.

- God he- he can’t believe he let it get this far!

- He groans every time he realizes he’s thinking about you.

- His brothers noticed he was acting odd, he locked himself in his lab more often than not.

- He said to himself that he was fine. He said he just didn’t want to stop working. He said that, if he continues working…maybe, just maybe, he’ll forget about her.

- …

- Well that failed miserably.

- He found himself making simple gadgets.

- Ones that would specifically help you in any situation you’ve complained about.

- God he was so infatuated with you.

- And God he misses you.

- He wants to hear your voice, feel your soft brushes against his skin as you pass him his tools, feel your gaze on his form, receive your heartfelt gifts.

- He sighs, he has been ignoring you for a while now.

- You tried to text him but eventually you stopped.

- His heart shattered at the thought of you not wanting to talk to him anymore.

- He tried to hold off from calling you. It didn’t work.

- Ring-Ring……Ring-Ring……Rin—

- “Hello?”

- He almost cried at hearing your voice again, but he has to stay calm.

- “Hey…”

- “Donnie?”

- “The one and only darling~”

- He tried to act as casual as possible.

- “Darling?? Donatello, you don’t get to ignore me then call me darling moments later, I need answers.”

- He wished he never ignored you.

- “Yeah, I’m…I’ve been trying to work a couple of things out. I thought isolation would work best for me to think of a solution.”

- “And you didn’t think to tell me to leave you alone? Not once did I deserve to know why I was being ignored by my best friend?”

- You sounded like you were about to cry. He wants to hug you and comfort you so much.

- “I’m…really, really sorry…two reallys.”

- he heard a sniffle from the other side.

- “I missed you, you idiot…I missed you so much…”

- His heartache had just became worse.

- “Wait right there for me, I’m coming.”

- “wha—?” He didn’t let her finish and ended the call.

- Quickly he went to Leo and asked him to portal hime to you.

- After a few teasing remarks from Leo and a promised explanation, he was in your room.

- You were sobbing, he never wished to see you so…sad. Especially because it was his fault.

- He kneeled in front of you. He brings his hand slowly to your face, he hesitated for a moment before he cups your cheeks and wipe your tears with his thumb.

- Your eyes look up into his, teary and wet, yet they still sparkles like pearls.

- He has to accept it. He looks into your eyes with his soft ones.

- He felt you lean to his hand, breaking eye contact, and you bring your own to grab his.

- You release a deep shaky breath.

- “I’m sorry.”

- You look into his eyes again, a hint curiosity and anger in yours.

- “Why did you do it…”

- He stayed silent for a moment, wondering how he would word his answer.

- “I did it…because

- …

- I was scared.”

- There goes his dignity and self preserved bad boy image, but he thinks that persona left him a while ago.

- “Scared of what..? Heh—there’s nothing to be scared about.”

- “I was scared of these…feelings. I don’t understand them and maybe I should’ve never tried to understand them.”

- You stare at him, he continues.

- “I was scared of what these feelings might do to me, so I…shut myself out in hopes of getting rid of them.”

- “clearly that wasn’t such a bright idea.” You said.

- He shakes his head, “Yeah no, never will be.”

- He smiles, and You also give in and give him a smile of your own.

- “So what, pray-tell, were those feelings, huh?”

- He stared at you nervously.

- “Ummmm maybe I’ll tell you next time?” He suggests.

- He was met by the deadpan of your face.

- “Donnie..”

- “Fine, fine”

- “Okay, so from what my scientific brain knows and my therapy sessions with Dr Feelings I’ve come to conclude that…Imayhaveamassivecrushonyou.”

- He was nervous, who could blame him?

- “A crush?? On me???” And you who somehow understood whatever the fuck he said, damn, it’s meant to be.

- He gave a slow nod confirming what you heard. He felt his face heat up increasingly as you stare at him with wide eyes.

- You’re so pretty….

- “WhAT??”

- He jumped a bit at your loud voice.

- “You mean I could have kissed you and YOU WOULDNT MIND??”

- The blush on your face was evident as you had confessed that out loud.

- A smirk graced its way to Donnie’s lips.

- “Oh? Well this is quite the plot twist Darling~”

- You felt your face heat up in embarrassment.

- “Yeah so what?? A girl can dream can’t she?”

- You tried to save yourself from embarrassment.

- Donnie’s hand came to hold your chin up to him. He leans forward, you incisively lean backwards. He then brings his other hand to balance him on top of you, your lips are inches apart and your hot breath on each other’s faces.

- “Oh she sure can, but I can make yours a reality~..”

- You felt his lips timidity touch yours, lingering there.

- You pushed yours into his, making the kiss deeper.

- It was innocent, new, and colourful.

- You felt your heart beating quickly.

- His heart isn’t beating any slower.

- He brings his hand behind your head and pushes you into a more passionate kiss. He felt like he was high on your soft lips, only wishing time would stop right here.

- Soon enough both of you ran out of air and had to pull away.

- You we’re breathing heavy, and so was he.

- “Never in a million years would I have imagined a kiss would feel this amazing.” Your hazy eyes look into his.

- He smiles at your gaze, happy that you’re finally looking at him again, only this time in a different light.

i've been sitting with this. i've been trying to think of how to answer this. and i don't think the answer is a spoiler? LMAO.

the corrupting nature of power is, i think, one of the central themes at the heart of kindred, particularly the idea of intentionally corrupting yourself for love. i don't think it would come as any surprise for me to tell you that yes, there's absolutely a path where auri succumbs to the tadpole entirely.

it's even one i toyed with as an ending briefly, haha.

but that's a theme i've always been so enamored of. becoming a monster for love - knowing you're damning yourself for love - is so tragically beautiful to me.
