iZombie Pilot differences

(Well, the 2nd draft at least XD)

Just random things that caught my attention:

Olivia “Liv” Moore (27). Rose has the same age as her character while filming season 1.

She’s transitioned from bright, blonde. I wonder why they put Rose McIver natural blonde into a brunette. More contrast with the transition? Ironically, her “human” costume has Rose with her natural hair.

Clive Babinaux (30). Malcolm was 33 while filming.

Think Shaft as channelled through Jordan Peele. He's that rare combination of self-aware and super-fly. Cleavon Little in BLAZING SADDLES. I don’t get these references since I didn’t watch any of this movies, but Clive was much more serious and focused in “our” pilot.

Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (40s). Wow, Ravi was way older than our Ravi. Rahul was 30 while filming. Thankfully we didn’t have another Hollywoodesque 10 years gap with any of the potential love interests (at this point, on paper Liv or Peyton). Also, since Rahul isn’t into “brown characters casting calls” and the age, I wonder if Ravi was the original name or if they changed the name and background after hiring the actor.

Think Simon Pegg’s “Scotty” in the Star Trek movies. A high energy, enthusiastic nerd, who has a brilliant mind that isn’t equipped with a filter or an off switch. He has an endearing lack of interpersonal skills and a genuine enthusiasm for unknown and unexplained. Conspiracy theories and unsolved mysteries are his porn. I’m glad we didn’t get another Sheldon or House.

Major Lilywhite (28). Robert Buckley was 34 while filming. A bit older than Liv but better than most of media. (Yes. I fucking hate late 30s/40s actors banging twentysomethings, specially since actresses are pretty fucked up when they turn 30).

A former University of Washington strong safety turned environmental engineer. The social worker turned Lord Commander was cooler.

Peyton Charles (26). Aly Michalka was 26 while filming.

They shared a love of lists and plans and predominately socialized while burning calories. Fuuuuuuuuck that. I wouldn’t handle another pretty best friend playing fatshaming into the audience. The deconstruction of using gorgeous Aly instead of “the chick” as the more stable, serious brain of the pair for me was refreshing. Even when she was “the damsel in distress” she was because she was overpowered by far.

That’s why seeing her daughter turn from ambitious super-achiever into zombiefied couch potato. Sorry. I laughed so hard with “zombified couch potato”. I think I’m going to make this my personal motto.

Evan Moore (16). Liv’s 16-year-old brother wants to be the next Dylan which is tough when your mom expects you to be the next Elon Musk. What. I didn’t expect this.

He’s a bit ashamed that he may like his sister Liv a bit better now that she’s changed into this new version that doesn’t remind himself so much of his mother. Screaming into the void forever for all the potential wasted in the Moore family that we never got.

Blaine DeBeers (28). David Ander was 34 while filming.

He’s the wussy, polo shirt with the collar up, selfimportant jerk who makes the jump from run of the mill spoiled asshole to completely evil crime lord. Probably David gives too much of evil lord or dangerous sociopath since the beginning to make him be a frat boy. I mean, the yellow plastic jacket was too much but a polo shirt? What a disgrace.

EXT. LAKE WASHINGTON, SEATTLE - NIGHT CAMERA FLIES ACROSS THE SURFACE OF LAKE WASHINGTON toward a dozen party boats tied together in such a way that people can just step from one boat to the next -- Lake Havasu-style. Wow, that looked so cool. I suppose we didn’t get it for budget reasons. Also no Marcy/Major introductory scene.

SLOW MOTION SHOT of Liv running straight at camera trying to cross the 20 feet that mean a chance at survival, a look of determination on her face. Pilot Liv was braver than Our Liv. And also snarkier.

REVEAL LIV, still hot, but now shockingly pale with nearly white hair. Still hot? Ugh.

Peyton leads her to an EMPTY CHAIR across from where the rest of them are sitting, then takes her seat with the group. The intervention was heavier. Liv’s inner dialogue also changes a bit more during the full original pilot.

DR. RAVI CHAKRABARTI (30s, nebbish, high-energy.). The age change here again. A mistake?

She turns to find BLAINE (late 20s, entitled, wearing a “Hugs Not Drugs” shirt.) He leans in close, his mouth by her ear, pulls plastic vials from his pocket. Blaine “no personal space” DeBeers XD

Liv throws her beer in his face. Blaine takes a menacing step toward Liv when he is tackled by a zombie. Liv shrieks, looks up, and sees the rolling zombie outbreak coming at her. This Blaine is more aggressive and his zombie origin story is different.

We return to the moment of Liv hiding under the boat railing surrounded by zombie chaos. Hid under a boat railing instead a table. I suppose budget again.

The last person she sees is BLAINE who is now a zombie. He’s left a bloody scratch down her arm. Liv wrenches free, but in doing so, bangs her head against the side of the boat and slips into the water. Different than rolling backwards to the water.

Suddenly, the blackness rips open revealing the NIGHT SKY and FLASHING RED LIGHTS. She wakes up in the night instead of the day.

Liv finishes up her story. LIV So, I hung out a while, chatted with the EMT. Made sure he had the correct spelling of my name. (off Ravi’s stare) I’m kidding. I took off. Pilot Liv craked a joke instead of “The EMT was too upset about having accidentally bagged a “living” girl to ponder any other possibilities”.

RAVI So you feel normal after you feed? LIV (smirks) Feed? -- like an animal? RAVI Sorry -- poor word choice. LIV No worries. It’s probably accurate. Truth is... I never feel normal. I don’t think I’ve slept in five months... And trust me, zombie-ism has its side effects. RAVI The Tabasco? LIV Pretty much the only way I can taste anything is if it would have at least six chili peppers next to it on a menu. The Liv-Ravi conversation was different and longer.

As Liv passes the open door of Peyton’s room, she spots a SORORITY MUG FULL OF PENS on a nearby bookshelf. She grabs the pens and continues towards the kitchen. (NOTE: This is the first of several beats of Liv impulsively swiping random objects. We’re not sure why but it will become clear later.). In our pilot Peyton asked where the pens were, here we can see how she steals them.

Too long to put in here, but there’s a full Lillymoore scene deleted in which Liv gets a bit jealous, rambles about a true love relationship and sex with a zombie, another in which the vision is different and another with Liv with concerned Evan scene deleted.

KTAU news. With Roxanna Bull. Tom Vasquez. Bill Sylvester with sports and Johnny Raines with weather. Johnny Frost was Johnny Raines and worked in channel 7 instead of 11.

Ravi and Liv sit at Clive’s desk. Ravi taps away on his phone (...). Ravi was with Liv initially at Clive’s desk scene and during Johnny’s scene. Also the conversation was way longer.

Tatiana was called Paulina Wojcinski and was Polish instead of Romanian.

Some not related with the case dialogue between Liv and Clive reaching to Paulina’s apartment has been cut.

Liv turns to him, her face ashen. This is the moment she loses her Winona Ryder dour/cool/bored affect. Interesting comparison lol

Liv, looking shell-shocked, waits nearby as Clive pounds on the door to Tess’ apartment. Soul-patched neighbour Truman opens his door in a huff.

TRUMAN She’s gone. Whatever you told her, it sent her running. It’s her body, you know. Only a patriarchal society would prevent women from monetizing their own—

CLIVE Did she say where she was going? The scene with the guy was shorter.

Liv steals a wooden apple instead of eyes. There’s two cut scenes, one with Clive, another with Eva. Clive and Eva meet. Also the scene at Paulina’s apartment is translated partially to a hotel room, with a vision involving Paulina and Tess. Another scene is added involving another apartment. Another scene involving the bad guy and Clive is cut too.

Peyton exits. Liv is thrown by Peyton’s show of emotion. She looks over the stolen loot, her slovenly attire, her Cheetostained fingers as she processes Peyton’s speech. LIV - Pathetic. Liv’s awakening is different.

The scene with Johnny is shorter, another scene with Pratt was cut.

The scene with Pratt and the girls was way shorter. There are several scenes of Clive running after Pratt and Liv and Clive interacting with the girls that were cut. Liv almost eats Pratt.

A scene in which Liv gets her zombie makeup applied and wanders through the haunted mansion is cut. Most of the conversation with Major and Peyton is cut.

Life was never going to perfect and you weren’t so naïve as to believe that, however there were those perfect moments in your life that made all the hardships worth it.

Major had always been an unbelievable friend to you – no matter what he was there when you needed him, and so of course a part of you started to wonder what it would be like to be with him.

You never could have imagined that Major would actually return your feelings but when he did you were over the moon, it was one of those perfect moments.

Over the past couple of years, yours and Major’s relationship had only grown, and you’d never been happier.

The two of you had lived at his house for the past year or so and Ravi had lived there too for a little, but he’d moved in with Peyton not too long ago.

Major came in through the door with a smile on his face and immediately came over to you on the sofa.

“Someone seems cheery,” you commented.

He chuckled, nodding in agreement. “Well yes, I am quite cheery my love.”

“Am I going to get an explanation as to why?”

He sat down next to you before producing two plane tickets as his smile grew. “We are off to Paris my love.”

You gasped out of shock. “You’re kidding! I thought you couldn’t get any time of work.”

He chuckled. “Well my boss told me today that he’d give me the time off as I’d helped him out when a couple others got sick.”

“So, we are actually going away?”

“Yes, my love, a whole week to ourselves.”

To say that you were excited was an understatement.

You and Major had talked about going to Paris for such a long time, and you were unsure if it would ever happen but now you knew that it was going to.

When Major came into the bedroom later that night, he found you staring at your laptop screen with a smile on your face.

“What’re you doing staring at that?”

“I’m planning out what we’re going to do in Paris,” you answered him as he sat down next to you. “I want to do a day at Disney.”

He chuckled, putting his arm around you. “I’m already way ahead of you.”

Your brows furrowed in confusion until Major pulled out his phone and showed you the confirmation email for the tickets to Disneyland Paris.

“I knew you wanted to go so I booked them once my boss told me I’d have the time off.”

Smiling, you kissed him gently. “You really do spoil me Mr Lilywhite.”

He leant down to kiss you for a second time. “It’s only what you deserve my love.”

“I don’t know what I did to deserve you,” you mused at your boyfriend. “You surprise me with all of this, and I doubt you want to go and stand in Disney with mickey ears on your head but you’re going to do it for me.”

He smiled at you. “I’d go to the ends of the earths for you my love,” he told you in an honest voice. “So, wearing mickey ears isn’t all that bad.”

Blood & Gore: shrapnel injuries and missing limbs caused by a ship taking a broadside head on are shown. A man is shot in the head with blood splatter but no wound shown. A man’s neck is bitten through causing arterial bleeding, the wound is shown. A slave is forced to act as a suicide bomber, he falls on the bomb causing a bloody explosion

Physical Abuse of Genitals: a woman is douched by another woman using a metal syringe. She is very rough and clearly causes significant pain

Slavery: a cargo hold full of slaves is shown. A slave is shot in the head at point-blank range (no wound or blood is shown), another is threatened, and a third is forced to act as a suicide bomber

Wikipedia Synopsis:

Flint and his crew of the Walrus play a deadly game of naval warfare when they engage Captain Bryson and the Andromache on the open sea to gain precious cargo. Meanwhile, Richard forces his daughter's hand when he makes an announcement to the locals about his assets being liquidated. This causes a mob to riot against Eleanor, who seeks help from Hornigold. Rackham makes a career change for him and Vane when they become owners of the brothel. Also, Billy questions Flint about Mrs. Barlow, and Anne confesses to Max about her past with men.

This one’s got some pretty bad stuff for blood & gore so might be worth looking away or skipping those scenes if you’re sensitive to that, the sex slavery plotline is much less bad than in the previous two episodes

00:57: opening credits

21:22-23:40: Mrs Mapleton is taken to Max to douche her with a metal syringe to stop her getting pregnant. She is overly rough. Anne takes over and is more gentle. She tells Max she didn’t mean for this to happen when she handed her over to the crew, she only thought they’d kill her

31:56-37:31: The Walrus closes on the Andromache and is hit by her broadside. Shrapnel injuries and missing limbs are shown. Beauclerc shoots the helmsman, and the Andromache is forced to come alongside to be boarded. As they come alongside, a man is shot through the head. In the boarding action we see people shot and stabbed. Dufresne is forced to bite a man’s neck and blood flows out in an arterial spurt before Dufresne passes out

43:23-45:31: Bryson goes into the hold where the slaves are kept. Mr Scott is chained up there. Bryson tells Scott to assist the ship in leaving and he can return to Nassau. He shoots one of the slaves, and goes to threaten another. When the slave behind starts pleading, that slave is unchained and taken upstairs

50:17-51:49: the slave chosen by Bryson tells Flint that the Scarborough is knows where he is and is coming. At that point the Scarborough is spotted and in the moment of distraction the slave lights a bomb. He is shot, falling on the bomb, causing a bloody explosion

Summary:

As they chase after the Andromache, which is out of sight, BIlly goes to Flint to report their speed North by Northeast at 6kts, and Flint decides to discuss his concerns about Billy’s trust

“You don’t trust me do you? With any luck, we’ll sight the Andromache soon. Battle will begin. You and I will have our roles to play. We have the chance for a few minutes honesty first”

“Honesty? Men died yesterday, careening our ship faster than was safe. Men are going to die today attacking that merchant ship out there and they’ll die not knowing it was all based on a lie”

"A lie?”

"We don’t even know if the Urca’s schedule is accurate. We’re completely relying on the cook. How can you just pretend you have no doubts about this”

"Years of practice. There’s always doubt, Billy. No sane man would deny that. No good captain would acknowledge it. Take our present route for instance, we tacked north by northeast, along the Andromache’s best point of sail. If you’re Bryson, that’s the smart course.”

"Well he knows that I know that. So wouldn’t he have at least considered heading Northwest to follow the coast? Lose us in the dark? Or due East, on the chance we might sail right past him? There must be at least one chance in three that that horizon will remain bare and we’ll never see the Andromache again. That’s the truth. But what good would that knowledge do for any man on this crew trying to focus on doing his job? This crew needs certainty. And I need their support to achieve an end that is in all our best interests. So we dance the dance. Never was there a Caesar that could not sing the tune”

"Who’s Mrs Barlow”

Flint smiles to himself. “you’ve heard the stories haven’t you? She’s a witch, who pledged my soul to the devil and anoints me with the blood of infants to keep me safe in battle “

“Come on I’m not stupid”

"No, you’re not. So you can probably guess, it isn’t as much fun to tell stories about how your captain makes a home with a nice puritan woman who shares his love of books”

As Billy asks if that’s true, the Andromache is spotted and Flint smirks, going off to command the ship

Jack walks into the brothel with Anne & Vane. The madam, Mrs Mapleton (above) is talking to a sex worker about a client who did more than she agreed to. Mrs Mapleton is dismissive, suggesting that she ought to charge by the digit. When she sees Vane et al, she tells them that Mr Noonan forbad them to come in, but Jack gives her a piece of paper purporting to be a signed deed settling their dispute over Max by agreeing to purchase the brothel

She thinks this is quite odd and asks where Mr Noonan is now and Jack says he sought passage to Port Royal

“You’re telling me that Mr Noonan, who just a few hours ago had the intent of seeing your captain beaten to a pulp, that Mr Noonan, decided instead to sell you his life’s work?”

“And you expect me to accept it based on a piece of paper and your word? And to keep my mouth shut about it, when any halfwit can see that there’s foul play around?”

She clearly sees through the bullshit, but decides to play along for a raise from 3% of the gross profits to 14%

Eleanor storms into the warehouse and, after speaking to the man Scott knocked out last night tells him to get her horse ready so she can speak to her father. When she goes to her office, she finds Silver chained to Randall, having been stashed there to "stop what’s in my head spilling onto the deck of the Andromache“. Eleanor uncuffs Randall, but cuffs Silver to the couch. He asks why she seems to harbour so much anger towards him. She says it’s because not only did he steal from Flint & his crew, he also lured Max into “his selfish scheme”

“Hold on, I specifically tried to talk her out of getting wrapped up in my selfish scheme!”

Eleanor gets called outside urgently. Her father is giving a speech to a small crowd outside the warehouse, lying, saying that Bryson had known about his arrest before landing, and had been sent to liquidate their holdings in the Bahamas

"For years we’ve all profited in this place, trading on the stability of my family’s name, but unfortunately our circumstances have changed. A fortnight ago, his majesty’s navy attempted to place me under arrest. I am, since that day, a fugitive marked for execution by the crown.

Unbeknownst to me, my family in Boston learned of this, and ordered captain Bryson to liquidate our holdings here. I convinced him to leave behind the contents of our warehouse, but that is all.

To those of you owed credit, or for whom we hold goods in consignment, I leave it to my daughter to see you made whole as best we can. But once that is settled our business with you must be considered complete.

I’m very sorry. God speed to you all”

The Walrus isn’t closing on the Andromache fast enough and won’t catch her before nightfall, at which point she’ll be able to slip away. Flint orders the topgallants (the uppermost set of sails) raised but de Groot protests that with that much canvas up the backstays (which stop the masts being pulled forwards) may not hold, and even if they do, the ship will dick in hard at the bow, possibly hard enough to “shake loose the rigging entirely”. Billy sides with Flint and the topgallants are raised. After a few rough moments slamming into the waves with the bow digging in, Flint wrestles with the helm to get the ship under control as the Walrus reaches 7.5kts - very fast for a ship of this era and the crew cheer

Richard Guthrie comes in to talk to Eleanor, who is furious. He says she “let Flint seduce you into this madness about the Spanish galleon, all in furtherance of the fantasy that you can resist English rule”

"You are a child. I am fully aware that captain Flint left in pursuit of the Andromache last night, but you should know, Captain Bryson sailed the Valesca(?) route for ten years and was never boarded, not once.

Flint will be returning either empty-handed or not at all. This treasure galleon business is over.

As for our future here, I am working on a deal that will make a safe place for us among the farmers in the interior. When the pirates are gone the landowners will drive commerce here. They will be indispensable to the lords and to Whitehall, and so we will make allies of them. We will adapt. And we will survive.”

She asks how he got Scott to cooperate, and he says “we talked like men, and he saw reason”

Eleanor goes downstairs, as Lilywhite is giving a speech to a large crowd. Hornigold and his men are keeping the crowd at bay, but he suggests she announce payments to settle debts immediately. She says she can’t pay, and he presses her, trying to work out what crews will take alternate payment, but she continues

“I’m not winding things up here. My business continues.

Captain Naft of the Intrepid & Mr Walker her quartermaster, Captain Laurence of the Black Hind & Mr Harrison, and our friend Mr Frasier, get them all here now”

Hamund (above centre), the member of Vane’s crew who has been brutalising Max comes into the brothel with the rest of the crew saying “that Guthrie cunt is done”, and wondering what they’re doing in the brothel because they’ll be able to hunt again soon. Jack says that Eleanor is likely not out for the count just yet

"To assume that we’ve seen the last of Eleanor Guthrie is, well, not to know her.

The fact that she appears to have captain Hornigold and his men propping her up only adds to my conviction. Right now we’d do well to keep our mouths shut and be thankful and be thankful we have some income from this place for the moment and bide our time”

Hamund tries to appeal to Vane, who is sitting there blowing smoke rings, but he just goes upstairs, and Hamund leaves with the rest of the crew

Jack moans to Anne about things never being simple. Smirking, she offers to make it simple (i.e. kill them)

"Darling, this is a lovely stop gap, but if we are ever to hunt as a proper crew again we will need - well - a crew. Right now those men are all we have. It is unfortunate perhaps, but no less a reality”

He then suggests Anne take Mrs Mapleton to Max to tend to her whilst Hamund is distracted

As the Andromache readies for battle, Bryson is writing a log when he is told the Walrus will be on them in four hours. He seems unconcerned, his only order being to pack the china plate in their hold with extra straw, so that it might arrive in Boston unharmed

Billy is below decks with Logan (above right), the armourer, going over their stock of weapons. Unfortunately, because they emptied the arsenal before careening, they only have short stocks left as it was all that could be managed before setting sail. Billy says to take it all up top and not hold any in reserve. Either they take Bryson’s ship or they’re “fucked” (Logan supplying the last word). Even Dufresne is given a pistol, and he’s taken aback

Max’s chain is chafing as Anne & Mrs Mapleton come in. Mrs Mapleton starts douching Max to stop her getting pregnant using a metal syringe. She is uncaring about the pain she causes. Anne sees this and tells Mrs Mapleton to leave, before lubing up the syringe, and continuing much more gently. Anne tries to ask why Max didn’t leave when Eleanor beat Hamund off her, and then suggests that Max ought to stand up to the men

“Once one of them came and put his balls on my shoulder whilst I was asleep. Thought it was funny. Last time he put them anywhere. If you take it, they’ll give it”

"Why do you say these things? You were the one who threw me to them in the first place”

“I only thought they’d kill you”

She looks ashamed and leaves

In Eleanor’s office Silver suggests she’s sticking her head in the sand about the situation, commenting that when a mob turns, the ones that gave rise to it are usually the most surprised. Hamund arrives downstairs and Eleanor goes down, coldly holding his gaze. He insinuates that she’s now getting exactly what she did to them and asks how that feels, before saying he’ll go back to Max on the beach

Billy explains the battleplan aboard the Walrus using two brushes for the Andromache (left) and the Walrus (right)

"As we close the distance to the Andromache, the captain believes Bryson will tack port and set himself for a clean broadside volley. He’ll loose his guns, pay off downwind and continue running. Now ordinarily, we would either match him, and return fire, or slip into his wake and make a run at his stern. Unfortunately, we’re too outgunned for the former, and Bryson is too skilled a captain for the latter. He’ll just keep shooting and delaying, shooting and delaying until nightfall, at which point he’ll just slip away.”

Logan asks how the hell they’re going to board her if they can’t shoot at her and can’t get close to her, as the crew nods. Billy says they go straight at her (this headlong rush into the enemy’s broadside is similar to what Nelson would later do on a much larger scale at Trafalgar)

De Groot then says they’ll be sitting ducks for the Andromache’s guns, being raked bow to stern and Logan adds “we’d be boarding bow to midship. For all you virgins in the room, that’s also known as fucking suicide”. Billy says that “of course we’d need to board alongside her. We just need captain Bryson to accommodate, and bring the Andromache about for us to do so”

Billy tells the crew that “Mr Beauclerc is going to convince him”. We see Beauclerc (below centre) whittling in the corner and, as the crew turn to look at him, they seem to accept this

Dufresne tries to talk his way out of being involved in the boarding action, showing Billy the ledger saying he saved the crew a huge amount being good at accounts, and asks if any other man can say they’ve earned as much. Billy says that every man on the crew had a first time, and Dufresne is overdue, despite never having shot a pistol which he’s told is alright, because half the time they don’t even fire

Vane is watching Lilywhite rant when Idelle enters saying she was sent by Jack to tend to Vane’s wounds. She says he should pleased that Eleanor’s finished after what she did

“You hate her. I hate her. They all hate her. Look what good it’s done us.

No captain on this island’s ever known that kind of power. Power that doesn’t care how many votes you can tally, who loves you, who hates you, who fears you. Power that just is.

Truth is, none of us have any right to hate her for it. She’s strong, and we’re weak.

That’s the reality of things here, and no-one down here’s strong enough to change anything”

As he traces the scar on his chest she asks if he isn’t strong enough, and he says he thinks it’s time he found out

The crew of the Walrus are hunkered down to be ready to board, as Dufresne tries to conjure up possibilities where the fight won’t happen, saying he doesn’t think he can do this. Billy tells him an encouraging lie

"Yes you can. Listen, Listen to me! You will make it through this! No-one eats it their first time over the side. I’m telling you, it’s never happened. Not on this crew. Don’t ask me why, it just is.”

"Men die all the time, it can’t be true”

"Not first-timers. Name one. You’re gonna be alright”

Bryson gives the order to fire and we see the result on the Walrus, with men with shrapnel in their faces, and limbs blown off. Beauclerc is in the crow’s nest with several longbarreled muskets (presumably early rifles). He picks up the first, aiming for the Andromache’s helmsman, but a wave rocks the Andromache away obscuring him

The Andromache fires a second volley, and Beauclerc shoots, narrowly missing the helm, and getting spotted. Beauclerc grabs his second musket & Bryson orders the helm to stay where he is and to bear away before they lose the wind. This time Beauclerc hits the helmsman and the wheel spins free, with the Andromache turning to windward, as the Walrus need. Another man takes the helm and the rest of this volley from the Andromache misses. Beauclerc shoots the new helmsman and, as the wheel spins again, they lose their wind and Bryson is forced to give the order to prepare to repel boarders

As the Walrus comes alongside, Dufresne puts his glasses in a pocket. One of the crew is shot clean through the head. Blood splatter, but no wound is shown. We follow Dufresne with subjective shots seeing men get shot and stabbed as they board the Andromache. Dufresne tries to shoot a merchant, but his pistol misfires, the merchant then tries to shoot Dufresne, but his pistol misfires too. They grapple for a while, and Dufresne bites his neck, and blood spurts out. Dufresne falls back and passes out. Later, after the deck is cleared, Billy finds him, covered in the other man’s blood and helps him up

Eleanor has gathered Captain Naft of the Intrepid (above left, in yellow), Captain Laurence of the Black Hind (above left, with the bottle), their quartermasters (right), Mr Frasier (above left, behind the captains) and Hornigold. She tells them that she means to establish a consortium, with them as the heads. Mr Frasier has a charter from the Massachusetts Bay Provincial Authority that could be used to pass customs houses, and the Black Hind and Intrepid are the largest ships on the island, and least profitable. Captain Laurence is insulted

"My men aren’t merchant sailors, they’re hunters”

"Yes, but they’re bad at it Jeffrey. What good is that doing anyone?”

"I put this to them they’ll vote me out before I stop to take a breath”

"I’m amazed they haven’t voted you out already given the shit prizes you’ve been chasing. Your men will earn three times as much in half the time, not facing a single sword or pistol in the process. You’re telling me that you can’t sell that?”

Laurence remains unconvinced, asking Hornigold if he supports it. He says he will, if she lifts the ban on Charles Vane, saying the mob outside thinks of her as a tyrant, with this as one of her most egregious acts

"Charles Vane is an animal! As are the men that remain with him”

"Because they saw fit to punish a thieving whore?”

"And I am not about to say otherwise for the benefit of captain Lilywhite or any of the other idiots out there listening to him”

"I’m listening to him - your commitment to this place is admirable, but you’re young, and you’re rash. Show everyone your motive here is for the common good. Show them that you can be trusted to keep petty animosity separate from business. Rescind the ban on captain Vane and show me that. Do it and I’ll back you as your father’s successor here. The boss behind all trade. Until then I’m sorry, I can’t help you”

"I won’t do it”

"You have until dark to come to your senses. At that point I will withdraw my men and the business of the street becomes your business alone”

The crew of the Walrus have taken the deck, but the Andromache’s crew are stashed below, and the pirates are hacking ways into the lower decks with axes. Gates has checked the dead and injured and Bryson is still alive. The crew get into the quarterdeck bunker to find just three men inside, puzzling Billy. Meanwhile the three pirates of the vanguard are on their way to clear the cargo hold

De Groot tells Flint the rudder isn’t responding, so the mechanism must have been cut belowdecks. Flint orders the vanguard recalled, as we see them cut down by a volley of musketfire ringing out from a second bunker on the lower gun deck as Bryson’s second in command suggests it is time to send terms

Bryson goes downstairs into the hold and looks contemptuously at the cargo of slaves. He stops at Mr Scott who is chained up there with them. He tells him that if he assists in getting the Andromache away he can return to Nassau, but that he should have known there would be consequences for siding with Eleanor against Richard. He has one slave shot in the head, and goes to threaten another. A third slave starts pleading and this slave is then unchained, and led upstairs

Eleanor returns to her office and Silver urges her to accept Hornigold’s terms, asking what she cares. She feels guilty for Max’s suffering. He points out that Max had the opportunity to walk away, but she says she can’t proclaim to the world that what happened to Max was acceptable and apologise to them for ever having said otherwise. As she is on the verge of tears she asks Silver to convince her to “betray Max a second time”

“Max chose. Why? I don’t know, maybe it was spite, maybe it was strength, maybe it was who the fuck knows what, but to be perfectly honest, I don’t care. Because the moment I start making choices based on her decisions I give her a hell of a lot more power over my life than I’m quite comfortable ceding to a perfect stranger. Guilt is natural. It also goes away if you let it. And losing your life’s work, that doesn’t go away”

Vane walks out of the brothel and Jack hurries after him. Vane has requested a skiff. Jack says it isn’t his business, but they may soon be able to hunt again. Van just says that there “problem isn’t in there, never was” and carries on, jumping into the skiff as Jack calls after him, referring to him as “Chaz” (apparently this was attested this early, but I cannot take it seriously because to me it sounds way too modern)

At the Walrus and Andromache Gates tells Flint Bryson is in a reinforced hold directly beneath them at the fore end of the lower gun deck, with doors and roof as thick as the outer hull, so there’s no way for them to breach it, plus they’re right in front of a powder magazine, so they can’t blow their way in or else the ship will sink fast, and there’s no way to get the guns off as it is because anyone sent down will just get shot

"It doesn’t make sense. If Bryson wants to force me to withdraw, what’s to stop me burning the ship once we leave? We’re missing something”

Dufresne is reading the papers in Bryson’s cabin as Billy enters. Dufresne said he wanted to get a headstart looking through them before saying the name “Jameson”

“You said no man ever died his first time over the side, but you forgot about Tom Jameson, Bosun’s mate, about two years back”

“Hm. That’s right. Also, Christian Toms, Will Robins, John du Bois, that Portuguese guy with the lisp, what was his name?”

“Oh that is funny. Thank you. For doing that. It helped”

Billy spots a sealed letter labelled as from Miranda Barlow to “the Honourable Justice Addington, Thomas, the Massachusetts Bay Colony” and goes to open it as he hears a shout from the deck to get away from the hatch. He pockets the letter before stepping out

The chosen slave climbs out of the hatch as pistols are drawn and pointed at him. He asks for captain Flint and then, with one of the pirates as interpreter conveys a message from Bryson

“I’m secure in the hold below, with twenty of my men, I can wait, you cannot. Before departing, I sent a message to the captain of the Scarborough, told him where I was headed, told him where he would find you”

At that moment, the Scarborough’s sails are spotted to the East. The Slave lights a bomb and runs at Flint but is shot by Billy. The Bomb explodes beneath him, sending blood everywhere

So, when Liv turns him into a zombie after he almost died in the meat cute incident he tries to break up with you but that’s when you tell him you’re a zombie ending in lots of fluff.”

Having a secret always felt kind of bad but having a secret that you couldn’t tell the guy you loved – that was even worse.

You had been a zombie before you started dating Major, and six months down the line he still didn’t know.

It wasn’t a secret that Major had gone against Liv when he’d found out about her being a zombie and after that you just couldn’t bring yourself to tell him.

You were worried that he’d dump you over it and of course you didn’t want your relationship to end.

The meat cute incident had ended badly for all parties involved, and you already knew what Liv had done to Major but you had to pretend as if you weren’t there because you had no possible way of explaining it.

Major had practically disappeared since what Liv had done but you couldn’t blame him.

The fact that you could only eat brains was definitely something to get used to.

You’d been sat in your apartment and minding your own business when Major used his key to come in.

He didn’t look happy at all, and you could tell he was upset as he dodged you kissing him when you got up to greet him.

“I think we need to talk.”

You sighed. “About your disappearing act? Yeah we should talk about that.”

Major mimicked your sigh. “Not about that. About us.”

“About us?”

Major motioned for you to sit down on your sofa, and he followed you shortly after.

“What’s wrong Major?”

“I don’t think we can be together anymore.”

You gasped a little. “What? Why?”

“It just isn’t working.”

“You can’t be serious Major! You can’t just come back after weeks of not being around and claim that we shouldn’t be together anymore.”

“You don’t know what I have been through!”

You shook your head in frustration. “I don’t do I? Oh, how about the cravings? Or the visions? Or the fact that you are living with that person’s memory!”

A look of shock crossed your boyfriend’s face.

“I was there Major. I know what Liv did, she make you just like us.”

“Us?”

“I was a zombie before you even met me, before we started dating, but after seeing how you reacted to Liv I couldn’t just tell you.”

“Yes, you could have. We would have worked through it.”

You scoffed at his reply. “Oh yeah? Just how you were prepared to ‘work through’ you being a zombie by breaking up with me?!”

“I didn’t know what else to do. I didn’t want to ruin your life.”

It was then that you realise the hurt within Major’s tone, and you couldn’t help but step into his arms to wrap him in a tight hug.

He hugged you back and you felt as if everything could be okay.

You pulled away slightly to look up at him. “How could you ruin my life when you are my life?”

Major Content Notes:

Blood & Gore: a man is shot in the face, we don’t see the impact but we do see him afterwards with a bloody face, missing an eye including a closeup of his face

Sexual Assault: offscreen, implied

Slavery: a cargo hold full of slaves is shown. One slave is forced against a pillar by a crewman, who is then choked to death. The slaves revolt against their captors, one is shot in the chest, but no injuries are seen and he seems to survive

Wikipedia Synopsis:

Capturing the Andromache proves to be a costly endeavor when Flint loses a few of his crew to Bryson's men who are holed up in the hull. Meanwhile, Anne decides to take a stand against Hamund and his men for harming Max. Eleanor gets a visit from an unlikely ally who needs her help and turns to Silver to form a plan. Billy reads a private letter from Mrs. Barlow asking for a pardon for Flint's murderous actions aboard the Maria Aleyne, and asks Gates to confront him before the men learn of his betrayal. Vane reaches his destination from his self-made voyage.

This episode's got a bit in the way of blood and gore, but most importantly for this series of posts, it's the episode in which we see the end of Max's sexual slavery storyline. After this we're done with sexual assault for the rest of the show

01:16: opening credits

05:18-07:51: the slaves poke a rag through a hole in the side of the ship to signal their presence to the pirates, despite Mr Scott’s refusal to assist in their escape attempt. Bryson’s crew hear movement but do not discover anything

09:52-11:25: Hamund arrives at the Ranger camp and is met by Anne. Jack persuades her not to fight Hamund, and he enters Max’s tent to rape her

28:49-34:35: the woman next to Scott berates him for refusing to help. The pirates return the rag with a metal spike wrapped in it. When one of Bryson’s crew comes down to investigate the noise, Scott betrays the woman, but chokes the man to death when he shoves her against a pillar. The pirates are hacking at the top of the bunker to make noise to cover for the slaves breaking open their chains. The slaves revolt and force their way upstairs with some being shot, but carrying on. Bryson pins Scott against the entrance to the bunker and is shot in the face. Scott opens the door and the pirates overrun Bryson’s crew. We see Bryson crawling towards a barrel on which the two flintlocks have been placed, ready to blow the ship up, before the woman stabs him in the back with the metal spike. There is a closeup of his face

41:13-41:30: some pirates go to pick up the barrels of gunpowder from the bunker. We see a closeup of Bryson’s head. When they lift the barrel they set of the flintlocks, blowing up the bunker

Summary:

The crew of the Walrus are getting anxious, as there are only four hours until sunrise, after which they will likely be spotted by the Scarborough who will easily defeat them. Billy shares his concerns about how little they know about Mrs Barlow with Gates, who is setting the pirates’ new plan into action. One of the black pirates has been covered in soot and given a bomb. He is to sneak up to the entrance of the bunker in the pitch black, light the bomb, and throw it through the murder hole. With Bryson and his men choking on the smoke, the pirates should be able to then break down the door

Belowdecks in the hold, one of the slaves passes a rag forwards. The woman next to Mr Scott asks him to poke it through a hole to signal to the pirates. Scott refuses, saying that he doesn’t care about the slaves’ chance for freedom because the weapons the pirates mean to take are very dangerous to someone he loves and, no matter what, the weapons must not be returned. The woman stands up and pokes the rag through herself. Bryson’s crew hear the noise and one comes down to have a look around but heads back upstairs without noticing anything

In the tavern the members of the would-be consortium are waiting for Eleanor to make up her mind about lifting the ban on Vane, and have been for two hours. Captain Narf is optimistic, Frasier seems more grounded, Captain Lawrence is pacing, whilst Hornigold is staring daggers at her door. Eventually Eleanor comes out and nods at Hornigold who says he’ll tell Lilywhite and the crowd listening to him they can stand down and Vane can hunt again. Mr Hamund, and what remains of Vane’s crew snicker, and Hamund blows her a kiss

Hamund returns to the Ranger’s camp, triumphant. Max hears him and is clearly scared. He finds Anne waiting outside Max’s tent defiant. Hamund tells Jack to talk some sense into Anne. After Jack has a word with her, Hamund saunters past her, chuckles, and takes a swig of booze and he enters the tent. Jack & Anne exchange a look and Jack leaves, looking concerned

“It would appear that I have failed to appreciate how deeply this situation has disturbed you, but if you’re intent on following this course of action, then I suppose we should do our farewells now, because I don’t think I could stomach watching the men throwing you in that tent as well and having their way with you, which is where I fear this story ends. Unless you pull your shit together”

Billy goes into a cabin on the Andromache to read the letter from Miranda which we hear in her voice. Intercut with this are shots of her writing the letter, as well as the pirate with the bomb being sent below and creeping toward the bunker

“To the honourable Justice Addington Thomas, Massachusetts Bay Colony,

I petition you under the advisement of your friend, Mr Richard Guthrie, to bestow your favour and influence. You may know Captain James Flint by reputation, through stories of his past misdeeds, but you might not know of his desire to repent. He is a good man, a decent man, eager to renounce his transgressions at sea and seek life in a part of the world willing to accept a man humbled and penitent were such a thing possible, would such a place exist.

It is with this very hope that I write you today. I have enclosed a bill of exchange for £500 to be spent at your discretion toward procuring whatever permissions necessary.

I only urge speed. He is caught in a dangerous plot with wicked men, who will most certainly kill him when they learn of his betrayal.

Believe me, your obliged and faithful servant, Miranda Barlow”

As he pauses to light the fuse, one of Bryson’s crew moves slightly, and the beam of light from the bunker shifts. As it does, the pirate tenses, before breathing a sigh of relief. Hearing this, Bryson’s lieutenant fires, killing the pirate. Hearing the shot but no bomb, the pirates on deck are disappointed, and Flint demands Gates give him another plan. Below decks, we see Bryson working with two flintlocks (presumably from spare muskets or pistols), each with a length of string

Billy pulls Gates over to speak to him about the letter, pointing out the word “betrayal” and saying he knows about the Maria Eleyne. As they argue, Flint comes over and casually asks if everything is alright, at which Gates says Billy has come up with their next plan

“I know Flint killed those people for her. I know Morley saw it and brought it to you and I know you did nothing. He played games with his crewmen’s lives then, he’s doing it again now and he knows he can get away with it because we’re protecting him, because you are protecting him”

“Enough! You want to go to the crew with this, be my guest, but I will do everything in my power to frustrate you, know that”

“How can you say that?”

"Because we’re in fucking battle right now and I will not undermine his control of what is frankly a shitty situation based on a letter written by a woman neither of us know a thing about”

Pastor Lambrick rides up to Miranda’s cottage. When she comments that it’s later than she is comfortable receiving guests he tells her that he knows that Mr Guthrie has betrayed Captain Flint, with her help and, whilst Guthrie is safe on Mr Underhill’s plantation, she has no protection. She tells him he doesn’t understand any of this and invites him onto her porch

Meanwhile Eleanor is watching the town from her balcony and is surprised by Anne. She insults Eleanor before asking her help, asking her to kill Hamund for her, saying she would do it herself, but because the crew saw their argument she’d get the blame and get herself killed. Eleanor says that if she has Hamund killed that isn’t much better, and now it may come to her doorstep too. She says she isn’t rejecting the plan because it’s too dangerous, but because it’s not dangerous enough. Instead she proposes killing all 8 of the remaining crew of the Ranger tonight and that they just need a little help to do it

Inside her office, Flint heard the conversation and refuses to help. Eleanor points out that his plan to not be killed after Flint captures the Urca is to become friends with him by then, and that, having spent a while with Flint, he ought to have realised that he doesn’t seem the sort of man to leave a loose end like Silver hanging. She then points out that she has just managed to set herself up as fence again and, as the centre of commerce on Nassau, Flint won’t want to be her enemy, making her probably the only person on the island who could dissuade Flint from killing him

Back at Miranda’s cottage, she explains some of her past life in London, her husband Thomas, Captain Flint, and how she came to arrive in Nassau. She gazes wistfully as she mentions Thomas’ death

“I had a very different life before I came here. A life I shared with my husband. He was, a special men. A man of ideas. About the world. About the order of things. Writers, artists, men of science, they’d fill our drawing room night after night, to talk and argue, sometimes just to listen to him. In some ways he was like you. A shepherd to his flock. He would have loved to have met you”

“Me?”

“You think I can play Devil’s advocate? Thomas would have played that game with you from dusk until dawn and everything you hold sacred, he’d leave in tatters. Not from malice or hate but from love, from a desire to see the yoke of shame lifted from your shoulders”

“You think I am ashamed?”

"My husband and I were happy. But in London a happy life can often be a very dangerous thing. Something that other people simply cannot abide. Thomas learned that lesson all too well. Captain Flint was Thomas’ closest friend. And after his death he saw fit to spirit me here for my own safety”

“Flint brought you here? You’re right, I don’t understand”

“I just told you, Captain Flint is my deliverer. There’s nothing more you need to understand. Why are you here?”

“I’m concerned for your safety”

“It’s late, you knew I’d be alone, it’s inappropriate. You’re not here because you want to protect me, pastor. You’re here because you want to fuck me”

She smirks flirtatiously, pulls him towards her and kisses him. They have sex against the railing of the porch, but he does not last long

Gates proposes a new plan to the crew, where four men are suspended over the side of the Andromache with axes, augurs, and charges with the goal of making a hole in the hull big enough to put explosives through to let the pirates breach the bunker, saying he saw the famous pirate Henry Avery try it. Logan is skeptical

"Saw Avery try it once”

"And it worked?”

"Said I saw he’d tried it”

Flint asks for volunteers, but when none step forward, he picks four men himself, including Logan who objects that it’s suicide. As Flint reiterates the order, Logan repeatedly appeals to Billy, who stays quiet, eventually Gates punches him clean across the face, kicking him on the way down knocking him out and says, whilst the crew look on shocked

“Mr Logan makes a valid point, unfortunately, now is not the time.

Anyone else got a point they would like to make?

While we are in battle, the captain’s orders are the law, that is what we signed up to, that is what we agreed. Now the order’s been given. Heed it!”

A whistle is heard from the rigging, the slave’s rag has been spotted. Flint walks over to a beam off the side of the Andromache to see it before rushing into the cabin and flicks through several ledgers before finding that the cargo includes 38 slaves, and that 9 are priced over £100, and that 9 strong men ready to fight Bryson from below

"Given their current situation, my assumption is there are no 9 men on earth that wouldn’t jump at the chance for a little fight. What, have you got a better idea?”

Below decks, the woman next to Scott tells him that he will never see the person he loves so much, and that when they get to their destination he won’t be treated any differently than the rest of them

The rag is poked back through the hole, this time with a metal spike in it. One of Bryson’s crew comes down to investigate the noise again, and Scott betrays the woman. The crewman then hauls her up to her feet by the throat and shoves her against a pillar, at this point Scott stands up, and chokes the man to death with his chains. He is clearly disturbed at having killed a man

The crew of the Walrus are hacking at the roof of the bunker with axes, making noise to cover for the slaves breaking apart their chains. Bryson is suspicious and then notices the sound of chains clanking from below. He sends his lieutenant down with two men, but they are grabbed by the slaves on the stairs and overrun. As the slaves rush up the stairs, some are shot, but they keep going. Bryson pins Scott against the entrance to the bunker but is shot in the face by a pirate through the murder hole. Scott opens the door, letting the pirates in, and we see Bryson, with a bloody ruined eye (including a closeup of his face) crawling on the floor towards a barrel to which they’ve attached the flintlocks as a sort of self-destruct. Bryson is stabbed in the back by the woman and both she and Scott nod at each other in thanks, as they notice the barrel

Silver approaches Hamund as he’s pissing off the end of a pier. He says that he was Max’s partner, and escaped from the wrecks with his anonymity intact and that he wants to sell Hamund the contents of the page. Hamund takes a while to catch Silver’s subtext before eventually telling him

"We don’t have any fucking money left, you shit! Rackham lost it chasing you!”

“I fail to see how that’s possible”

Anne & Jack are in their room in the brothel when Hamund bursts in with the crew. He tells Jack that Silver told him

"Now I’m told that you gave half our pearls to the whore up front before you ever left for the wrecks, which would mean that half the pearls never went to the wrecks. It was on the whore when your bitch reeled her in leaving us to wonder, where the fuck are they now?”

“I don’t know where you’re getting your information from, but I can assure you it is mistaken”

“She threw that whore into the tent, long before we got to her”

“Yes, but the whore had no pearls! Neither I nor Miss Bonny would be so stupid as to steal from you and even if I were, I would never be so stupid as to trust a whore to act as escrow. Someone is lying to you. Tell me who it was I might be able to help you figure out why”

Throughout all of this Jack looks confused, but Anne looks on coolly. Hamund then produces a small handful of pearls, saying they found them in Anne’s tent, and that this proves he’s right. He demands to know where the rest are, and Anne says they’re buried by the wrecks. Jacks says how disappointed his in her before being grabbed by Hamund

As the pirates are hauling the cannons onto the Walrus, Flint talks to Mr Scott, saying he was surprised to find him in the hold after he betrayed them to Mr Guthrie.

"You think what she and I hope to achieve for Nassau is impossible? That I’ll be the death of her?

I lost six men chasing down this ship, nearly faced another mutiny all over again. If I had any sense I’d throw you to my crew, take the pressure of me.

But I’m not going to do that. I’d rather prove you wrong”

Gates calls Billy over, and tells him he is on Billy’s side. Billy says that then Gates needs to get them some answers. Belowdecks in the bunker two of the pirates comment that there’s perfectly good powder. We see a closeup of Bryson’s face and then, as they lift the barrel, they inadvertently trigger the self-destruct, causing a huge explosion

The pirates are knocked flat and gathering their wits, but quickly realise that the Scarborough must have seen that. Flint makes the call that they need to leave, even though there are still three or four guns in the hold. As they sail away they notice the Andromache’s spritsail brace is banging against the hull, having been sent flying by the blast, and that this will be losing them at least 2kts of speed. Billy and Flint climb the bowsprit to cut it loose. As they are sprayed by the full force of the waves, with no rail to brace against, Flint asks Billy about the letter he spoke to Gates about

"Earlier, when you and Mr Gates were having words, you mentioned a letter. What was in it, Billy?”

"Billy, what was in it”

“I think you know what was in it”

Billy finishes cutting the debris loose just as we hear cannonfire. As they are hit, Gates orders them to come about, and Flint calls man overboard as he returns to the deck, telling Gates he fell. The crew call out for him, but no sign can be seen. Gates accepts that they can’t stay to look for him because the Scarborough will tear them to pieces

Jack & Anne are leading the Ranger’s crew through the rocks by the wrecks, as Jack tries to talk her out of the plan

"Ambush I presume? Nothing out there but men with pistols and swords. I imagine those pearls didn’t just materialise though out of thin air, with whom did you scheme this?”

"The cunt”

"Somehow not surprised. Decent fellow Slade, as far as I know never raised a hand against the whore, a factor I hope you considered before you decided that he and six other men who stood by our captain in his darkest hour, men he considers his brothers be lumped with the cost of assuaging your offence in this matter. God damn it Anne. Do I not deserve a say about this?”

"You’ve had your say. Now I’ll have mine”

We intercut between Silver talking to Eleanor in her office and the ambush itself. Hamund tries to limp away, but is caught by Anne who stabs him in the belly. He tries to grab her throat but there is little strength in it and he falls down dead

"When I first met you, I pegged you for an easy mark, but now, between you and Flint, I’m not certain who I should be more afraid of”

I saw you earlier, after you lifted the ban. You were angry.

One of Eleanor’s men comes in and nods at her. We then see Max walking up the stairs at the brothel to her old room. She thanks Anne who tells her that she “didn’t do it for you”, before sliding down against the wall crying

On the Walrus the crew hold a funeral for the pirates killed taking the Andromache, with Dufresne reading their names as they are dropped off the side of the ship wrapped in a shroud and chains. They read Billy’s name last and, after a huzzah, Flint ceremonially throws his sword overboard

Jack is in the brothel as Anne comes over and pours herself a drink. Jack is cross with Anne for forcing him to betray his crew

“I hope you’re pleased with yourself. I see we won’t be speaking of this again I presume? Well, before we close the lid on this and put it in the ground, one last question if you will, just to satisfy my curiosity: when you and Miss Guthrie were plotting this little coup, when she asked you ‘well shit Anne what makes you think old Jack will go along with this plan of ours and not plead the truth to his men as he’s most certainly going to feel duty bound to do?’ What did you say?”

“I told her given the choice between them and me, you’d choose me”

"That’s very fucking touching. And the captain? The two of you come up with some idea how to deal with him when he returns and finds out about all this?”

"You don’t know where he’s gone do you? He ain’t coming back”

We cut to Vane landing his skiff by a fire in some woods where the large bald man is waiting. As he stands up, the two hold each other’s gaze before cutting to the end credits

Tottenham are moving one step closer to signing Atalanta star Timothy Castagne this summer. Spurs have been hit harder than most by these unprecedented circumstances, as major events scheduled to take place in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have been cancelled or postponed, which has led to Daniel Levy borrowing a huge sum of £175m from the Bank of England to cover the costs. Therefore, Tottenham are not expected to be busy in the transfer market, as Jose Mourinho will largely have to rely on organising swap deals, signing free agents and hunting for bargains in the summer. The Portuguese has made it clear he wants to improve his defence as the Lilywhites have leaked goals for fun all season long. Serge Aurier is the club’s only designated right-back and Mourinho will have a problem if he picks up an injury. While Japhet Tanganga can fill in if required, Kyle Walker-Peters is currently on loan at Southampton. According to Le10 Sport, as per The Daily Express, plans are in motion for Mourinho to hold talks with Castagne. Spurs are seemingly hellbent on signing the Belgian, which spells bad news for Walker-Peters. Like every other good manager before him, Mourinho will know that sorting out a solid defence is just as important as having a strong attack. Castagne has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest talents after arriving at Atalanta from Genk for£5.85m in 2017. The 24-year-old has played 21 games in Serie A, scoring 1 goal, supplying 1 assist, winning 1.3 tackles per game and earning a pass accuracy rating of 85% so far (WhoScored). He is only one year older than Walker-Peters, which doesn’t bode well for the academy graduate, who has fallen out of favour with Mourinho after taking a pot-shot at the boss on the Saints’ official website. The 23-year-old has played every single minute of Southampton’s last three games, helping Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side beat Watford and Manchester City. However, the fact that Mourinho is actively pursuing Castagne is not a good sign for Walker-Peters, coupled with the fact the head coach is willing to let him go. Well...

I think Blaine and Peyton are cute, and that she’s a good influence on him/brings out his humanity. That said, I can’t argue that she seems a little too willing to forgive all Blaine had done before. To Liv, Major, Natalie, all the other innocent people whose lives he’s ruined. Even if he can’t remember it, and even if he’s not that person anymore, he still needs to repent for that. I guess she considers him saving her to be the start of that? Though I’ll concede, he’s got a loooong way to go.

Pavi. I like them together, and I expect them to be endgame... but Ravi was a fucking dumbass. I can’t blame him I suppose, I know he let his emotions get the better of him. That talk with Peyton went so poorly though. And I suppose that’s why he decided to have a rebound roll in the hay with Kupps, but... eh.

Obviously it’s well known that Blaine is my problematic fave. He seemed so eager and excited to restart a relationship with Angus, and yes, I felt for him. Sue me. I can’t blame him for not wanting to remember his old life, be it all the stuff in regards to Angus and his childhood or his own crimes and not wanting to risk becoming that person again. Still, even if he did it because Ravi pretty much called him out in front of everyone... I’m proud of him for conceding and taking the memory restoration serum. I know people still hate him and think he’s trash and whatever. That’s their opinion. The fact of the matter is he’s been nothing but helpful to the group since he got his amnesia, and if this is the start of him atoning and starting to earn their trust? I’m here for it.

Loved the scene with Major and Blaine. Again, Blaine helping and taking some accountability. Natalie wouldn’t be in her situation if not for him, and what he did to her was honestly worse than what he did to both Major and Liv. Liv especially. I keep seeing people say ‘he ruined her life!’ and yeah he did but... he actually didn’t intend to? He was high, and then was in full on zombie mode when he scratched her. You had a zombie on drugs, just lashing out and tearing shit up and attacking people. Yes, it’s his fault. He scratched her, but it’s not like he turned her to make her one of his clients.

Major’s new friend is adorkable,and I’m fine with he and Liv getting together. They already confirmed Liv’s next boyfriend wouldn’t die, so that’s a relief. I don’t expect them to be endgame, but I don’t see why you’d deny him a shot. I’ve seen people on twitter writing him off already, saying that it’s pointless bc ‘Liv/Major is endgame~’ and... look. Whether or not that winds up true? You’re automatically discounting the African American suitor. That... can be taken in a really gross & nasty way. I’m not even going to touch the ‘Lilywhite’ jokes, bc they’re too obvious.

Major’s mother, Edith Ackles was born in New York, where she grew up and best friends with Martha Chadd. Edith moved to Illinois where she met Michael Lilywhite, who was a sergeant in the Army. They got together and had a baby boy, Damon. Damon’s father, Mike, died in the line of duty when Damon turned 3, thus crushing Edith. Edith began drinking, and had depression from the loss of her love. In result, Edith killed herself when Major was only 5 years old. Edith left a suicide note and a Will stating that she wanted her childhood friend, Martha Chadd to take care of her son. Martha lived in California, so, Major moved to LA, California.

When Major turned 14, his aunt, Ariel Ackles, took custody of him in a battle of legal rights as his only living blood relative. Major moved back to Chicago to live with his aunt. He started high school in Chicago, where would judge him or call him an outcast for not growing up in the town they were located. Ariel, his aunt, would abuse him if he didn’t complete his chores or follow her orders to the tee, so he kept that part of his life a secret, ashamed of being judged more by the other kids. His aunt was preparing him to learn how to follow orders for when she shipped him to his grandmother's when he was 21.

When Major turned 18, not being able to take living with her anymore, he left his aunt’s house, moving back to California to be with his real family. The ones who actually loved him, the Chadd's. He moved to Downtown, Los Angeles, where he decided to go to college to be in the law enforcement. He excelled in his studies and hand picked by the LAPD to become an officer of the force. He gladly accepted and was encouraged by his family to pursue the career. He worked his way up the ranks and made detective.

When he was 29, he was in an undercover case. During this case, it went south and he was shot in head, but it wasn't fatal. He healed, but he got amnesia. The doctors have no idea how long he will be without his memory, but he doesn't remember anything after the age of 22. His adoptive mother, Martha, helps take care of his wife; reassuring her that he will get his memory back and remember her. The LAPD demoted him from detective to police officer and asked if he wanted to retire, he said no. He decided to open a brewery with the help of his adoptive father, John, so he would have something to do when he wasn't working. They called it The Family Business.

Major has royal blood flowing through his veins. His mother and aunt are two princesses from a small, island country right outside of England, called Achelous; named after the Greek God of all water and the rivers of the world. The only heirs to the throne left their country to try and live a normal life without the responsibilities of running a country. If Major’s aunt doesn’t take the throne, the country will be forced to go after Major, or his kids, to take the throne and run the country if the current Queen passes away. Martha and John fears that Major or his kids will be taken away from him if his aunt continues to refuse the kingdom.

You had never imagined that your life could turn into being best friends with a zombie, helping your other best friend in the morgue and your fiancé having been engaged to a zombie prior to you.

Liv had told you that she was a zombie due to you working with her and Ravi, and considering she ate the brains of the patients within the morgue you kind of needed to know what was going on.

At first, you definitely didn’t believe her but when Ravi was looking at you with a serious look you knew that she was telling the truth.

It was strange to get used to it all, but you did and Liv was still one of your closest friends.

When you started dating Major, you were cautious about telling Liv due to their history but she seemed incredibly happy for the two of you – she even helped Major propose to you, which meant a lot.

You lived with Ravi and Major, which was interesting but also entertaining because Ravi went on a lot about having to live with a couple and that he needed someone in his life but you knew that he still wanted Peyton.

You and Major were just lying in bed, it was a Sunday morning so neither of you were required anywhere and it was so lovely to just lie in bed with each other and have a lazy day.

Major sighed in contentment before pressing a kiss to your hair “Days like these are the best” he murmured against his hair.

You smiled against his chest “I can agree with that” you told him.

The two of you stayed in silence for a while longer, before you heard ‘Eye of the Tiger’ being yelled throughout the house but coming from the bathroom.

You burst out laughing as you sat up “Oh my gosh” you managed to talk between laughing “How is he singing that loud?” you quizzed, referring to Ravi who was clearly singing whilst he was in the shower.

Major shook his head, moving on arm to rest behind his head on the pillow, “I don’t even know” he said with a smile on his face.

You smiled down at him, sitting cross legged and facing your fiancé, as he then placed his free hand on your bare legs due to you only wearing one of his t-shirts.

“Maybe we’ll have to move out soon” Major commented, his hand gently tracing shapes on your thigh.

You sighed and played with the hem of your shirt a little “I know we’ll have to eventually, but I’ll miss him too much” you explained.

Major chuckled but nodded in agreement “I’ve been living with him longer than you have” he told you with a smirk on his face “I’m not ready to leave him yet” he pouted slightly as he spoke.

You laughed, running a hand through your kind of messy bed hair “He’s like a brother” you stated “Let’s just not move out until we absolutely need to” you explained.

Major grabbed your hand and intertwined his fingers with yours “Well we’ll have to move after the wedding” he told you.

“I know that. But that’s not for another six or so months” you commented making him smile.

He lunged forward and gently grabbed you to pull you down next to him “And then you’ll be Mrs Lilywhite”

Paul Robinson believes Son Heung-min will have a major part to play when the season resumes next month. Speaking exclusively to Football Insider reporter Dylan Childs, the former Tottenham goalkeeper suggested Son’s leadership qualities will be a decisive factor on and off the pitch for the rest of the campaign to come. Earlier this week, the 27-year-old returned to training after completing his mandatory military service in his home country South Korea (Daily Mail). Sharing his thoughts on the winger’s return to London, Robinson said “it is one of the only positives to come out of this awful situation that we are all in if you are a Spurs fan. “His importance to the team has become very apparent in the last two seasons. No matter where he plays, he is a key figure. He has a big influence on the dressing room as well so he is important to Spurs both on and off the field.” He concluded “the one bright thing to come out of this lockdown is that Son had the ability to complete his shortened military service.” Currently, Jose Mourinho’s side sit eighth in the Premier League, two points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers, four points away from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United, and one point clear of bitter rivals Arsenal. Son is the second-highest goalscorer for Spurs this season, one goal shy of star striker Harry Kane, although he has created more assists than the club captain so far (BBC).
