Random Laito headcanons ||

- Laito hates coffee with a burning passion.

After making love at night, he realized in the morning that he had spent the whole night at the house of a girl he did not know, and had to sneak out of the house at 6 in the morning so that the poor girl could not find him and annoy him again cause he thinks that was one of the most godawful making out session he's ever had (be so fr rn you are having sex with a fedora on.)

- anwayss, after he sneaked out, he found a cafe nearby and wanted to start the day with a nice, warm expresso. (Dont be fooled by this tho cause bro did not even drank a few sips of expresso before in his century long life 💀)

-after he drank his first sip, he immediately puked it all up like the drama queen he is!! Didnt expected anything less tbh!!👑

-then he got out of here without paying for the drink cause he thinks "its ridiculous to pay for a sour mud".

- Laito has a very sensitive sense of smell.

- like if y'all are about to make out but you dont smell good, he can't. He literally can't.

- its such a turn off to him if someone or something does not smell good.

- he will literally break down if someone says that he is smelling bad

- because this mf literally pours the whole bottle of 'Bleu de channel" on his jacket and walks around like a little scented candle.

- he likes being the little spoon while cuddling.

- he propably won't admit this tho (his "manly ego" is just too weak)

[The Island's Tourist Section from above, it's abandoned, and looks like it has been for a few days. There's a few workers standing idle outside the the buildings]

[The camera slowly scans the area, occasionally zooming in on areas where a person could be hiding]

[An indistinct growl of static emits from Iris]

[Iris slowly moves down, movement much smoother than usual. Once reaching the ground the camera is noticeably lower than usual, before slightly rising as the sound of cables quickly wrapping around each other is heard]

Iris: [Voice is barely comprehensible beneath the static] Anything. Suspicious?

[Camera flicks over to an idle employee who's standing at the ticket line for one of the Attractions. The employee jerks for a moment before turning to look at the camera]

[The employee stiffly points to the Gift Shop across the Plaza, before lowering their arm and slightly slumping]

[Iris lets out a slight burst of static noise]

[There's the sound of cables unwinding as the camera sinks to only be a few inches above the ground]

[The camera slowly slinks towards the Gift Shop occasionally cables are seen in frame as Iris pulls herself forward]

[Moving past the main entrance to the Gift Shop, along the side wall there is a small open window. Cables are seen reaching up to the window before the camera rises to the window]

[The inside is dark, but clearly trashed. A few idle employees are laying limp on the floor. Merchandise is scattered about, displays are knocked over]

[The camera enters the Gift Shop, slowly lowering back to the floor before the sound of cables wrapping around each other and it rises once more]

Iris: [Glitchy and covered by static] I know you-re heerreee Roriiiii. I kn-ow you wanttt to lea-ve but that'ssss not allo-wed!

[There's a small crash further into the shop. Iris slowly approaches, the camera constantly flicking about]

[The sound of shifting fabric behind Iris, before the camera freezes with a jerk forward, the visuals starting to glitch]

[A small chuckle that quickly bubbles into a slightly deranged laugh can be heard behind Iris]

Malorie: Thanks for the tour of the Workshop the other day, it was really helpful.

[Iris lets out a weak sputter of static, before the camera jerks once more. The camera's visuals glitching more and more as the camera slowly falls to the floor]

Finished Malorie, have Some Thoughts

(Spoilers + Incoherent Thoughts below the cut)

Mixed feelings about the book. I still think Unbury Carol is my favorite Malerman book so far...the cuts between POVs felt less jarring when random side characters were involved because there were so many characters involved it made sense there. But like here? Why did we need a POV from Dean? From Gary? Had the same issue with Bird Box when they did that random POV from Tom and Jules (although it ultimately fit there to give some context for the world.)

As per usual, thought that the descriptions in lieu of having visuals were amazing.

I thought absolutely the heart of the story was the Malorie/Tom dynamic and Olympia was an absolutely fascinating character(and her ability made sense and was so dope here...wish I could have seen more of it.)

I'm still mixed about the ending. On one hand, these books are (and always will be) about hope and living. And like, there was something great about Tom being right and his invention working and him being able to give the world its sight back, so I'm glad there was no "aha gotcha" that had him dying for no reason. But on the other hand? I don't think we needed that segway to that town of inventors. Like, we could have had a better moment on the train itself or literally anywhere else.

I definitely teared up a bit when Malorie met her dad again. I think that and Ron Handy were the bits that got me right in the feels.

But also: OLYMPIA MY BB YOU ARE 16 AND SEEING THESE HORRIBLE THINGS MY GIRL I LOVE YOU

Anyway, yeah, read the Bird Box books....Malorie is way more interesting ad a character when she's not #girl bossing it up as Sandra Bullock

Random Malorie headcanon's ;

(because its so close to her bday and thats all i got for now 🫣)

- some of her close friends call her "mels" short for Malorie.

She prefers Malorie but she is ok with the nickname as long as only her close friend's call her that. other wise she gets kinda irritated.

- Do y'all remember when i said that this girl is half french? well you should because she flexes on this so much to the point where people get annoyed.

And the fact that she can't even speak french for shit makes it even funnier because all of her social media username's are literally "moncheriemelss"

she actually wanted to do "moncheriemalorie" but Instagram's shitty username restriction didnt let that pass so she went with "moncheriemelss" since its more short and she tought it looks more cute and unique that way (💀)

- she can't and doesn't like drinking too much carbonated drinks because it makes her stomach ache and she literally hates burping after drinking them

- she sets alarm's for almost everything but the ringtone for the alarm is annoying to her so she snooze's the alarm's and as soon as she snooze's them, she forgots their existence 😭

- she is a die-hard twilight fan and cries whenever she rewatches the movies

she also tried to convince kanato to be Edward on halloween but he refused (obviously) but she is still trying!! and she is going to make hime come in her way eventually😏 (well she hopes so...😭)

- she is a fan of horror movies. its something that people get really surprised when they hear because she doesn't seem like the type to enjoy them

- she is also really invested in watching crime cases and how to solve them. every sunday morning, she opens a true crime case video and watches while she eats her silly unicorn shaped cereals.

I would like to submit the fucked up train from the book Malorie by Josh Malerman (sequel to Bird Box). It's referred to as The Blind Train. No official (or fan) art of it, but it's described like this in the book:

"The train doesn’t glisten, it sits, most likely rusted out in parts, probably dangerously wired for electricity. There’s no way the machine has passed any safety codes, this much she knows. The windows must be painted black, and it’s easy to imagine that paint dripping down the sides of the train’s body, reaching the giant wheels. She would bet money there are boards missing, spaces along the twin tracks that lead north, yes, but not the north it used to be. Here, the train will ride into blackness, all its passengers blindfolded, even the engineer unable to look outside. And what would he see if he did? There are no families saying goodbye, no pets to be sure. And the luggage the passengers take with them are only bags stuffed with canned goods and batteries, extra shoes and black cloth," (Malerman, 114).

That is incredibly fucked up. Accepted.
