It's the New Year and I'm still hating on my NOTPs such as Sasu/////Saku, Naru/////Hina and Walt/////ter x Dal/////eth. Yep. Those are my top 3 NOTPs. Holy shit. Heck, I don't even hate Ichi/////Ruki anymore. I just only see Ichi//////Ruki as a platonic pair ha ha ha.
Anyway, the tags are tagged property so don't come whining at me if you see my anti posts in the SEARCH, not the TAG. The ship names also censored for the reason.

Me writing meta about Tom Riddle: *checks the book 3 times for accuracy, extrapolates based on the text, clearly denotes things that are just headcanons not specifically supported by evidence*

More Starfire!Billy and Nightwing!Steve musing (I have given myself and @thediktatortot brainrot)
Steve heading back to his apartment after a night of patrolling only for a rogue alien prince to crash land on his balcony. Kisses him immediately to learn English and then passing out. Cue Steve having to nurse a 7 foot alien back to health
(Starfire is canonical 6'4 BUT Billy deserves to be BIG THANK YOU VERY MUCH)
Billy being clueless about human things and its adorable to think about and Steve having to teach him.
People in the superhero community that are close with Steve start to wonder what's going on. There are bets he's dating again after two years of just not. Robin just bursting into his apartment onto to see Steve being followed by a floating alien in his apartment XD
Robin: Steve...what-
Steve: um...I can explain?
Robin: you found an alien and didn't tell me!
Billy: this is the girl named after the bird right, Stevie?
Idk how to include Max in this but the idea with that Neil remarried on Tamarian (Starfire's home planet). Let's say that Billy's mom died from being poisoned by Neil's supporters in the palace and while he wants Max to be the heir over Billy. Max had an illness as a child robbing her of the ability to fly. Which is like a huge thing on their planet.
But what better way to get rid of Billy than to sell him off to a trade that keeping threatening war? Billy gets experimented on and that gives him his abilities. Course he escapes and kinda holds a bit of a grudge.
Anyways yeah, this au is probably gonna happen cause I got ideas XD
But also probably gonna write a fic about this and Billy and Steve end up alien married because of some loophole in Tamarian laws. Robin gets introduced to Billy's best friend and personal guard Heather cause they both deserve it
Robin 🤝 Steve

changing alicent's backstory so drastically was such a horrible decision to make from a writing perspective
book!alicent is power hungry and wants her family on the throne. she's working with otto, she seduces viserys, she tries to deal with the problem of rhaenyra by marrying a teenage girl to her 2 year old son. she manipulates and schemes because she wants everything
rhaenyra and alicent are both intelligent, powerful, power-hungry women fighting within the bounds of patriarchy and misogyny to try and get what they want, and alicent goes one way (knocking anyone out of the way and putting her male child on the throne) and rhaenyra the other (ignoring the patriarchy as if it means nothing and sitting on the throne herself).
in the show, alicent has been split into two characters shoved into one body. you have the book alicent who has to put her son on the throne, who wants power and glory and hates rhaenyra for what she represents, and you have the teenage show alicent who never wanted any of this at all, and was groomed and manipulated by otto into seducing an adult man for otto's goals.
all the way through the show it's otto pulling the strings, otto fighting for power, otto who wants the hightowers on the throne, not alicent. alicent reaches out to rhaenyra again and again because half of her character is the teenager who was best friends with her, but they kept in the other half, the cruel half that judges rhaenyra's choices and destroys her life at every turn
it's ridiculously jarring to watch alicent argue over the truth about rhaenyra's children, knowing that she knows that if that truth came out, rhaenyra and her children might just be put to death for their crimes (rhaenyra for having bastards, her children for being them), and then argue a few episodes later that killing rhaenyra in the chase for her own power is Bad, Actually
it's jarring to watch the young version of alicent in all the scenes where she's miserable and clearly showing all the signs of having been abused and hurt and forced, while in other scenes she seems fine and happy and reaches for viserys and seems to care very much for him
(to be clear, I do know that victims of abuse can be that way, that they can care for their abuser, and have mixed feelings when that abuser dies, but i don't trust the writers of this show to pull that one off, and they don't put enough energy into making it clear it is that way. not to mention that you don't see viserys himself abuse alicent aside from one sex scene where he checks on her and she reassures him that he should continue (i think? i'm pretty sure?). in the context of the world, alicent was old enough to get married and have children, much as rhaenrya was (although she waited until she was older because she was sifting through the options for her own suitor as a way of putting it off), and it was otto who groomed and abused her into being with viserys, pretending (?) to care for him and love him and want him. the only implication of anything untoward is when viserys asks alicent not to tell rhaenyra about their talks because "she wouldnt understand", which is a deliberate (? i think?) decision to make viserys sound like a child groomer, but it feels completely out of place when set against how viserys is portrayed the rest of the time and against the fact alicent was sent to him, he didn't seek her out or even know otto was setting them up)
I genuinely think the problem for me is that alicent feels like two different people, as i said. they made the decision to completely change her roots and motivations, but then while adapting the books kept big chunks of her actions and decisions in. it would have made more sense if she'd been secretly a black and otto was the one pulling all the strings, threatening her children and manipulating her, rather than somehow continuing to keep her being on the other side from rhaenyra and failing to balance that against her motivations
in fact, I don't... know alicent's motivations? viserys mutters something about wanting aegon on the throne, in her eyes, and...okay? and otto swears rhaenyra will kill alicent's children and she believes him? but also reaches out to her in 1x08 despite this?
alicent's motivations aren't power, she doesn't want power. she doesn't seem to want power for aegon either (she hates him, from what i can tell, and certainly doesn't trust him as far as she can throw him), all she really wants is for her children to be okay? why she married aegon and helaena to one another I have no idea? I know why the targaryens do it (to keep the bloodlines strong, give them more claim to the throne, keep the distinctive silver hair etc) but why did alicent do it, when she didn't even expect aegon to be on the throne?
up until the end of 1x08, she's anticipating queen rhaenyra? it's only when viserys hallucinates and dies that she thinks the plan has to change?
i also hate that everyone was scheming behind her back to put aegon on the throne. like, come on. the woman has absolutely no agency, both as a character and as a person
(to clarify what i mean by this: to take a character's agency away is a writing maneuver. choosing to turn alicent from personally power-hungry and making decisions based on that desire for power (seducing viserys, isolating rhaenyra, putting aegon on the throne) to someone who is simply bobbed about by the men in her life making decisions for her and scheming behind her back takes away the agency of the character.
to take a person's agency away is decisions made by otto and co to not tell her their plans. she was inconsequential. they forced a marriage on her, they forced children on her, she was used as a pawn and nothing more.
compare to rhaenyra, whose agency is taken away by viserys making her marry laenor as penance for what she did with daemon. her character still has agency: she chooses to pursue a relationship with harwin, she names (most of) her children, she makes her own decisions.
alicent the character nor the woman has any agency at all, and she should)
every time i think, "Oh no, I hate Alicent?" they switch flip her back to the other character and I go "oh no, I love Alicent" and then they flip her back. they gave her weird purity culture christian slut shamery as a reason to hate rhaenyra, then dropped it right after it reached its peak in 1x08 and had her reach out to rhaenyra despite nothing having changed (and how disgusted she was by the fact she was (allegedly) fucking daemon originally)
I love Alicent, I fucking adore her, but the lack of consistency keeps jarring me so bad I'm never sure if I love Alicent, the idea of Alicent, the young Alicent, the older Alicent or the book Alicent, because they're all so very different
i'm hoping maybe in s2 she'll be more consistent? but the decision to make a huge thing of her best friendship with rhaenyra has completely shredded most of the plot beats from the book, so they're going to have to change so much to make it work, i think?
also the idea that aemond could kill luke and then things could be okay again between rhaenyra and alicent is fucking laughable, not only because what the fuck alicent's son killed rhaenyra's son but also because alicent tried to murder rhaenyra when luke took an eye from aemond, so the idea that alicent might be like "hey, i'm sure this murder of your beloved son is forgivable <3" is so fucking funny to even consider
the girls would need a lot of fucking therapy and alicent would need to offer aemond's hands in penance at least for rhaenyra to even consider forgiveness
anyway they were so busy thinking "hey we could tell a cute lil first love semi-wlw sad little teen love story with this character and rhaenyra to make it hurt more" they never wondered if they fucking should
(and honestly, I think at least a chunk of this decision was rooted in racism. they decided to be outwardly anti-racist by making the velaryons black, which is gorgeous and i love that they did that, but then doubled down on being really racist (in my opinion!) by almost removing baela and rhaena from the plot entirely (and deleting all their scenes with their father), and by changing laena's everything so drastically and so cruelly.
they took away the fact she and rhaenyra were friends, that even when she and daemon were married, rhaenyra was often at her side, was there when she was pregnant, was there to support her, was possibly even lovers with her (replacing her with alicent in the show), and then changed her death from tragic and so very sad where she died from consequences of childbirth with her husband and her best friend by her side, sitting vigil over her, to... suicide by dragon when her child might have survived had she not had them both crispy fried? that's such a baffling and gross change of the plot and i hate it. justice for the real laena (in personality, not appearance - i love her casting so much and I wish we'd seen more of the actresses that played her))

A fair reminder that Fubuki (or rather, Fuyuki, in this case), despite being an extremely popular VTuber, didn't even hesitate to drop her Chinese fanbase, which is a major source of revenue, over supporting Coco at the drop of the hat.
Because she knows that the majority would support that decision, while the people who won't matter would stir up drama from it.
Eri is pretty much in the same boat

A shipping rant:
So, I watched the new PV for The Du///ke of Dea//th and H//is M//aid 3th season and yep, I ain't watching it fully. A certain p*do ship is still triggering. No, I don't give a single fuck about fiction =/= reality when it comes to p*do ships. Even I have my fucking limits as a problematic fanfic writer.
TW/CW: Mention of p*dophilia, h*bephilia, e*heophilia and g*ooming.
Dal///eth is a p*dophile or in this case since Wal///ter is 16-17 years old, she is actually a e*hebophile. Don't know what that term means? Look it up.It is bad as p*dophila and h*bephilia. But since she is way older than Wal///ter. Seriously, she is a 150 years old witch, so the term p*dophile fits her better since Wal///ter is still a CHILD compared to her.
I've read the whole manga so I know what the fuck I am talking about and yes, I can understand why she falls for Wal///ter but if she was HIS age and wasn't the younger twin sister of the witch that cursed his brother, then I would accept the ship, but NO. Just NO. I tried to give the canon ship a second chance, but the ship is too triggering for me to accept.
Have you ever thought that she may have g*oomed Wal//ter? The author NEVER bothers to show how they'd spend time with each other and no the scene in episode 9 (2nd season) doesn't count. Yes, people, that scene is a FILLER. And the way Dal///eth talked about his mother and how Gab///ena was married into his father's family when she was just 18, says a lot.
Dal///eth was familiar with Wa///lter's mother before he and his siblings were born.
Let that sink in for a second. (No. I will NOT say no pun intended. Wal///ter doesn't fucking own 2s and seconds)
I used to feel sorry for Dal///eth, but now, I don't. Because I don't feel sorry for p*dophilies.

Absolutely hilarious to me that during 6th year harry watches all the available memories of tom riddle and learns how important understanding his past is and how it's very hard to find info about him which is a shame bc it could lead to the horcruxes
and ginny, his supposed love interest, had extensive contact with a horcrux containing tom's memories. he could've asked her about her convos with diary!tom to see if he showed her any memories or mentioned something that could've been potentially relevant and they could've bonded over their shared trauma of having been connected to voldemort
but unfortunately he is too busy thinking about draco malfoy to think of it

so about that ship...
i'm only going to talk about this once. this isn't a post trying to call out the shippers, get anyone "canceled", stop people from shipping them entirely, any of that –– this is just a post about my own personal opinions on the p/n ship. i've been asked about it a few times on here and on twitter so i'm just going to make this one long post about it and not speak on it ever again, because i'm not trying to start any drama or fan wars or whatever.
my main issue with peter/nebula has nothing to do with my own personal headcanons or that it "gets in the way" of my own personal ship, it's that it disregards nebula's character arc throughout the first two movies and turns her into a replacement for gamora again. nebula spent her entire time growing up being constantly reminded that she is "lesser" than gamora and feeling a deep jealousy towards her, as well as a longing for just a regular sister relationship. over the course of vol 1 and 2 we see her resentment towards gamora come to a head before she gives in and admits that all she ever wanted was for gamora to be that sister for her. for nebula to be paired with a man who loved gamora first, who still loves that gamora he lost, feels like a regression of nebula's character growth as it subjects her to living in gamora's shadow yet again.
and let's be honest, peter will always see nebula as gamora's sister. that's all he really knew her as for at least four years. we can assume almost everything he knows about her past, her interests, her life in general before/during infinity war was told to him by gamora, he got gamora's side of every story first. the thing that bonds peter and nebula together is their grief over gamora, it can be argued by what we saw in vol 3 that they were the ones most affected by her death (and groot, who according to a comment james made on instagram, saw gamora as his mother). any romantic relationship between peter and nebula would just naturally feel like nebula is being used as a replacement for gamora.
which also disrespects peter's character growth as well. the peter we first meet in vol 1 is a hotheaded, arrogant, womanizer (i mean this affectionately). he is a grown man who lacks maturity due to trauma and his refusal to acknowledge his trauma. through his relationship with the guardians, and gamora especially, he's able to deal with his past and begin to heal. gamora was one of if not the most important person in his life by the time we see him again in infinity war. we see how losing her absolutely wrecks him, it's the final straw that breaks his spirit and leads to where he's at at the beginning of vol 3. for him to subconsciously replace gamora with her sister is not in line with the character we see at the end of vol 3, the man who's finally willing to face his biggest loss and childhood trauma by reuniting with his grandfather. it's far more in line with the peter we meet at the beginning of vol 1, and peter has not been that man in a very, very long time.
there are a few other points i believe could be made as to why peter/nebula gives me, for lack of a better word, the ick. and as a white woman i don't believe it's my place to comment on the treatment of gamora, who is played by a woman of color (and who is portrayed as one in the one instance we see her as a human in the comics), in regards to race and fandom and shipping culture in general. i'm more than willing to hear other's thoughts on that matter, especially related to gamora's treatment not just by fans but by canon as well. but to give a short summary of my current thoughts, p/n feels disrespectful to the relationship both of them had with gamora the same way it feels disingenuous to peter and nebula's character growth.
so that's it, that's why i don't like that ship. i'm not going to get this in-depth or detailed about this ever again, unless people civilly ask me to expand on something.
i'm also not going to go into what the actors have said (outside of chris calling gamora the love of his life every chance he gets) because that's a whole separate thing that dives more into ways p and n's interactions can be interpreted by individuals.
and again, this is not me saying you shouldn't/can't ship them. i know that's not how the internet works, i've been told i shouldn't/can't ship things and it only made me ship them harder. i'm not looking for a fight or snark or anything like that, this is just my personal opinion on the matter as someone who has loved these characters for nearly a decade.

Ok so rewatching s1 of Peaky, I got again to ep5 and the scene where Tommy puts the black star in the diary and he tells Grace about his Kimber plans. Homeboy literally tells you that no one knows what he’s telling you, not even his fam.
I remember watching this for the first time and being CONVINCED that Tommy knew in this moment that Grace was the leak. His eye shift at the end of e4 when Polly tells him the cops came had me convinced that he was looking at Grace in that scene and that him specifically telling her something “no one knows” was his test.
I can’t tell you how so disappointed I was when that wasn’t the case.
And like, what’s her plan in that situation? I can get behind her telling after she learns about the guns location, but since we didn’t see that in her two last scenes with Campbell before the faceoff, I can only assume that she reported it in as soon as she heard. So say she hadn’t figured out where the guns were when she did, and then Kimber day gets there and the police show up — you’re getting caught, your cover is blown, and you’re a bad spy.
And don’t get me wrong, of course situations and events happened so all the points are moot. But still. Was really looking forward to Tommy being smarter than his dick.
