I often hear and agree with the take that the DS era (and Emerald) was the peak of the Pokemon franchise, but imo, I feel we're getting close to peak again with Legends Arceus and SV + its DLC. I really loved the story and characters in both, and especially the gameplay in Legends was a fun change of pace. SV was mostly just held back by the technical issues, it perhaps just needed a few extra months in development to work out some of the bugs. (Still had a lot of fun with it tho. The characters, storyline, and exploration were a lot better than SwSh was for me.)

I also have pretty high expectations for ZA, mostly from a story/character standpoint. (Tho that's definitely because we waited over ten years on some sort of follow-up to Kalos, and how they mishandled a lot of the story/character aspects in XY is my biggest complaint about those games. I also really want more of AZ, since his backstory was really interesting.)
