Garlic Beefsteak with Mushrooms and Béchamel Sauce
Ingredients:
Steak:
2 beef steaks (such as ribeye or sirloin), about 1-inch thick
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
Mushrooms:
1 cup mushrooms, sliced (such as cremini or button)
1 tablespoon butter
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt to taste
Béchamel Sauce:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk
Salt and white pepper to taste
A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Steak:
Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the steaks to the skillet and cook to your desired doneness, about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, depending on thickness.
Remove steaks from the skillet and let them rest.
Cook the Mushrooms:
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Add the sliced mushrooms and the second clove of minced garlic, sautéing until the mushrooms are golden and tender.
Season with salt to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.
Make the Béchamel Sauce:
In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes without letting it brown.
Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly to prevent any lumps from forming.
Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
Season with salt, white pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg if desired. Remove from heat.
Assemble the Dish:
Place the rested steaks on a warm plate.
Top the steaks with the sautéed mushrooms.
Pour the warm béchamel sauce over the steaks and mushrooms.
Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs.

i need a spin-off where after the events of everymanHYBRID, HABIT picks up the fitness aspect of the channel and starts coaching daily fitness things like eating healthy, exercising, etc.. although the exercise probably involves brutally murdering people and eating healthy segments have sprinklings of cannibalism in typical HABIT fashion.

I won't argue abt the nuke ending with you but I still think it's incredibly funny that they staked a major lore segment on Tommyinnit being able to accurately throw a minecraft disc onto a pressure plate a hundred feet away in two tries. Also very funny to me that Dream just built a trap. Go girl jigsaw behavior
the saw trap made me lose it bc an AU version of c!dream that my friend and i had involved this whole thing where he made a saw trap and monologued at two people in his saw trap for awhile and was generally just a dumbass about it. so having a saw trap exist in the lore was really fucking funny
look at least they gave him two tries okay

ALL OF THEM. I find it amusing how they’re all being overshadowed by Red Guy, because Steak kinda replaced him as the costumed red being for that episode and their entire thing was about replacement if you really think about it, and and and an-

Last night I made my first suet crust savoury pastry, and as I write this I'm eating part of it for lunch at work. Predictably, it improved overnight and the crust is even more delectable today.
This is the recipe that I used for 'traditional steak pie'. (Traditional, maybe, but not a historical recipe since it calls for an Imperial metric shit tonne of baking powder between the self-rising flour and additional leavening). I wanted something simple to try, and it seemed like every other recipe called for a pressure cooker (??) and/or some condiment that can only be purchased in Yorkshire.
There was barely enough pastry to cover the pie so I didn't make any decorations, but maybe next time! I guess the suet pastry can't be used for a bottom crust for a pie, although it lines the bottom of the pudding basin for traditional steak and kidney pudding. That's another recipe I would love to try although it looks like quite a production.

My one new resolution for the year is to eat vegetarian because I already consume protein as small cubes that look nothing like the living muscles they once were so a plant-based protein can accomplish the exact same thing.

Rolled flank steak makes for a beautiful presentation, with the pinwheel cuts showcasing the fillings of fresh spinach, mushroom, red pepper and provolone. This is an always impressive and secretly simply preparation!
