Trope: Whumpered and alone

Fandom: Tangled: The Series / Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure

Timeline: Pre-season 1 of Tangled

Ages: Quirin (42), Marcellus (16) and Varian (13)

Quirin exits the house to talk with the villagers to see how he will improve some of their choices, after the sudden death of his wife, Quirin's life drastically changed forever. He often and will do all of this alone as well as being a single parent who will have to take care of his now teenage son, Varian. While outside of his house, Varian was left inside. Quirin does his usual leader of Old Corona way of talking with the people here. It was usual villager problems that the man would deal with and talk but then, someone rushed towards his place. It was Elwisia, one of the women of the village who was breathing heavily.

Elwisia: "Quirin, we had to talk about this." she puts her hand on her chest, "There was a boy with albinism named Marcellus who got abused and barely fed by his parents. I got a hold of the situation when while he was "punished" for arriving home late, I witnessed this and reported it to the king of the kingdom where four guards arrived at the place and flung the door, they weren't ready to see this. They saw Marcellus with torn clothes as his skin was filled with blood, whip marks, wounds and bruises as he was tearing up whilst his right leg was cut off. They soon arrested his parents, while he was taken to the infirmary but his parents weren't able to get away with their crimes and got arrested for it. So, now they were prohibited from seeing him but even then he was surprised his parents didn't lie at all cuz they lied all the time in the past when he was reporting them to the king of Corona but now once I exposed their true colours, they won't be able to lie anymore and instead, if they do. They would just fail again and again, at least the guard had some common sense and didn't believe them even if he was no longer with them. He would have nightmares and flashbacks of them abusing him, he just couldn't get over his past...He just can't, he hid his amputated leg ever since. He does, however, have a prosthetic leg after the incident where the doctor gave him one so he won't feel upset about losing a limp but got to do physical support to actually walk again." the tears streamed down her face as she wiped her face, "So I arrived here to tell you that no one adopted him and that's why I thought maybe you have the possibilities to adopt him." as she rubs her shoulder.

Quirin: "Oh, so the poor boy, Marcellus. It's heartbreaking to hear of his plight. I am deeply sorry for his suffering at the hands of his parents. I understand that adopting him may not be an easy decision, especially considering my own situation with my son. However, I am willing to discuss this further with you and see if there might be a way for us to help him. Let me gather some information about him and consult with my son first. In the meantime, please do not mention this to anyone else in the village until we have come to a decision. I will get back to you as soon as possible!"

Elwisia: "Sure, Quirin! And I am so sorry for rushing in and putting you on the spot like that. While I just couldn't help but think that maybe he could find a better life here with you and your son."

Quirin *Slightly nods*: "It's okay. I accept your concern and compassion. I will gather the information you've given me about Marcellus and I will go and look for him. Maybe I will probably find this boy and adopt him legally from my old friend who was in Corona. I do respect your patience while we consider this matter!"

Elwisia: "I just hope he'll be alright."

The man exits the town to go around the woods to look for the boy with albinism. After a while of searching, he finally finds the boy with albinism who was just walking alone in the woods. His once-pale blonde hair was now dishevelled, while the male's pale skin was slightly bruised and scratched with darker circles under his eyelids. Besides his left leg was missing, but the male with albinism continuously attempted to make a crude wooden prosthetic to help him walk.

Marcellus: "..."

Quirin: "Marcellus? I'm sorry to startle you. My name is Quirin. I am the father of a young boy named Varian. I have heard about your situation and I am here to see if you would be interested in coming with me and being my son once I adopted you. I am not here to force you to do anything you don't want to do, but I am willing to help you if you let me."

The male with albinism slowly looks at the man suspiciously.

Marcellus: "Who told you about me?"

Quirin: "A woman named Elwisia," he answered.

Marcellus: "The woman who witnessed this," said by Marcellus, motioning to his missing leg.

Quirin: "Yes, Marcellus."

Marcellus: "So, are you adopting me?"

Quirin: "Well, I am open to the idea of adopting you, Marcellus. I agree that it might be a big change for you, but I promise to take care of you and make sure you have everything you need. I do have a son named Varian but he wasn't born with a condition like yours and does indeed have melanin, but I do believe the two of you could become good friends and brothers at some point."

Marcellus: "But you have a son who does have melanin…What if he doesn't like me because of that? He might not want to be my brother, or be friends with me…"

Quirin: "Marcellus, I accept your concerns. However, I believe that Varian is a kind and compassionate boy who would accept you for who you are. You see, your condition does not change your heart or your spirit. It's just the way you look. And I am confident that Varian would appreciate having someone like you in his life. He might not understand everything at first, but with time and patience, I am sure he will grow to love you as a brother."

Marcellus: "But…I don't want to be a burden to you, or to your family." he slowly lowers his head.

Quirin: "Marcellus, you are not a burden. You are a person with a unique set of challenges, but you are also strong and resilient. I believe that Varian could learn a lot from you. And as for my family, I think you would be an incredible addition to it. We would all grow together, and learn from each other."

Marcellus: "…"

Quirin: "I understand your fears, Marcellus. It's natural to be cautious about such things. But I promise you, you won't be a burden. We will all take care of each other, and I will make sure that Varian treats you with the respect and kindness that you deserve. And as for your safety, I will do everything in my power to protect you and make sure that no one ever hurts you again."

Marcellus: "Fine, you will adopt me."

Quirin: "That's wonderful news, Marcellus! I am truly happy to hear that you have decided to join our family. I know it won't be easy for you, but I promise to always be there for you and to help you adjust to your new life. As for Varian, he will be overjoyed when he hears the news. We'll get you settled in as soon as possible. In the meantime, is there anything you need or want me to bring with you?"

Marcellus: "Heh, I do have my bag around me so no."

Quirin: "Okay, we'll go and talk with Frederic."

Marcellus: "Who is Frederic? I do know and remember that he was the king of Corona who knew about the situation."

Quirin: "Frederic is the king of Corona, but an old friend of mine as well." he pats his shoulder.

Marcellus: "Oh, wow." he slowly looks up at the skies and sees that the dark clouds grew ominous as thunder rolled in from the west and rain began to fall.

Quirin: "Have you eaten anything, lately?"

Marcellus: "...I ate a cupcake," he shrugged. "Someone gave me a cupcake to eat during my profession as a winemaker in Snuggly Duckling where a guy named Flynn Rider gave me a place for me to work and it was my dream job, I skipped breaks. I kind of overworked and burned myself since I was worried that I would be called lazy if I ever took a break, even though the people who work here are reminding me to relax and take a break or two from working but I-"

Quirin: "You do need to take a break or two, the people who you work with are on point. You looked so overworked with skipping breaks giving you a hard time, contributing to workplace burnout and making you worse at your jog and causing fatigue in the process as well as faster burnout and higher stress levels."

Marcellus: "I don't wanna be lazy."

Quirin: "Marcellus, it's important to understand that taking breaks doesn't make you lazy. It actually makes you more productive in the long run. You can't keep burning the candle at both ends like that. It's not healthy for you, and it won't help you be the best winemaker you can be. Trust me, I've been there. Constantly having to deal with people's problems and overdoing it without a break, that's the reason you have to at least relax for a bit."

Marcellus: "Well…Okay. I guess I could take a break or two."

Quirin: "Let's continue the walk."

As Marcellus exhaled deeply, following Quirin who was taking him to Corona to be legally adopted by the King of Corona. He slowly listens to the man's rambling, knowing that this man will adopt him eventually. As Marcellus grabs something from his bag before he pulls out a book to browse through the pages, the man slightly turns his head to see the boy.

He directs eye contact with Quirin and closes the book.

The male with albinism just follows the man through the forest and into Corona, it was a long walk through it but eventually, they arrived at the place. He wasn't new to this village since he often goes there or even communicates with them but Old Corona will probably be new to him, as he slowly paced through the direction. Quirin and he continued to walk before they arrived at the castle, the male with albinism gasped. While he just followed the man, they entered the place. He exhaled deeply as he slowly listened through the rambling before Quirin stopped.

Marcellus: "Oh."

He slightly opens the door to come inside the throne room as Quirin is slowly following him. The king noticed Quirin, but he brought someone with him and that is Marcellus. Frederic took a step closer and began to say something:

King Frederic: "Good to see you, Quirin. I see that you just brought Marcellus here."

Quirin: "..." he bows to the king, as well as Marcellus. "I arrive here to talk about having Marcellus as my son legally."

King Frederic *Smiles slightly*: "Oh, that's wonderful of you old friend. I just heard about this boy a whole lot and." his smile disappears, "I just wanna say that his parents should rot in the dungeons of my own castle because I can't bear seeing people like them trying to justify abuse as discipline. But here, they just punished him for being different. Which is a whole lot of worms to dig into, I am thankful had enough for a villager to report the incident and the parents not once lying since these people who lie to me and my guards that they are nice when clearly behind doors. They are massive discriminative, narcissistic and abusive individuals. And-" he took a deep breath, "I won't even get started with the orphanage because at least with him having to deal with 4 years of the pain that he will have to live through with his parents before the truth was revealed about them but the orphanage Itself...He's been there for 7 YEARS, and not to mention how they put on fake sympathetic faces to justify that they are only doing this because he was "bad" when clearly they are delusional for hurting someone for being different..."

Quirin: "I only heard about his parents," he frowns. "And the villager just reported them."

King Frederic: "Maybe because the villager only informed about his parents as abusive but the orphanage...Well, no one reported about it and no one said anything remotely related to it...Almost like they are scared to even talk about the mistreatment in there towards Marcellus. And I can't blame them, it's like hearing a horror story."

Quirin: "Yeah, it's kinda like that."

King Frederic: "So, you have the legal right to adopt him." his face softened.

As the man slightly bowed his head, as the king slowly looks at Marcellus. As the male with albinism slightly looks up at Frederic.

King Frederic: "Promise me, Marcellus that my old friend isn't as bad as the people who made you go through all of this."

Marcellus slightly nods.

As the male with albinism slowly looks down at the floor while Quirin waves goodbye at the king albeit in a bowing fashion and they exits the room.

Queen Arianna: "Who was it, honey?"

King Frederic: "Uh, my old friend who wanted to adopt the troubled male with albinism."

Queen Arianna: "So, it wasn't the guards looking for our daughter."

King Frederic: "Sadly no."

As the two couples just stood there silently.

Meanwhile, the male with albinism just followed Quirin throughout the walk. The weather wasn't changed much as the howling of the wind frightened them all while it was a cold grey afternoon with a dull sky and threatening rain as lightning and thunder raged with fury, while Marcellus took steps around the town. He saw children playing around here, as he slowly glimpsed at them.

Marcellus: "..."

The male with albinism slowly began to smile at the children, but it was a sad smile. He had always wanted to be like them, to play and laugh with them, but his life had always been different. He remembered when he was younger, that he craved that one day he would have a happy ending that wasn't about the orphanage or his parents…But it's tough to say since he got that in his childhood, and even when Quirin just adopted him. He only did it because the villagers felt bad for him, wanting him to have parents who would cherish him and not be like his biological parents. The wind picked up, causing the male with albinism to shiver. He wrapped his arms around himself, trying to stay warm. He glanced over at Quirin, who was walking a few steps ahead of him. He seemed to be deep in thought. Marcellus just wondered what he was thinking about. Maybe he was wondering how Marcellus would adjust to his new life? Or maybe he was wondering if Marcellus would be happy with him? And the fact that the village of Corona only has people with melanin, and he's going to stick out like a sore thumb, and they are all going to see him as a monster.

He didn't want that.

Marcellus just wanted to be accepted, to be seen as normal like everyone else.

But, maybe this is his chance at a new life. Maybe Quirin will be a good father to him. Maybe he'll find a place where he belongs. He took a deep breath, trying to push away the doubts and fears that threatened to overwhelm him. Or maybe, just maybe Quirin's son will be at least nicer than his brother. Varian's dad finally noticed that Marcellus was lagging behind and turned to face him.

Quirin: "You alright, Marcellus?" he asked with concern. "Is something bothering you?"

The male with albinism slowly nodded and slowly shook.

Marcellus *Forced smile*: "I'm just…taking everything in, sir." his shoulders slumped as he slowly looked down. "And, it's hard to call you dad or father since I do have memories of my own dad doing horrible things to me, and I-"

He gently placed a hand on his shoulder.

Quirin: "Marcellus, you don't have to call me anything right now. Just focus on getting settled in and feeling comfortable. Plus, we'll talk more about it later when you're ready." he paused, then slowly added, "And please, call me Quirin. I'd much rather you feel comfortable around me."

Marcellus: "Okay, Quirin." his lips quivered.

The two continued through the path until they arrived at Old Corona.

Marcellus: "Is that how Old Corona looks?"

Quirin: "Yes, and I said that I am the leader of this town."

Marcellus: "The town is pretty well-built."

Quirin: "Because I often help out with people's problems."

Marcellus: "Oh."

Quirin: "And now that we arrived, how about we go inside? That where you'll be able to see my son."

Marcellus: "..." he slowly nodded.

As Quirin knocked on the door of his house.

Varian: "Who is it?"

Quirin: "It's your dad." he answered.

Varian: "Oh," he unlocks it. "Hi, dad." he waves at him.

Quirin: "Hi, son."

Varian: "Who did you bring here?"

Quirin: "I brought a male with albinism since I legally adopted him, his name is Marcellus."

Varian: "Oh, hi. Marcellus!"

Quirin: "So, this is how my son looks?"

Marcellus: "So, he isn't born with albinism but still is different."

Quirin *Directs his eye contact at Varian*: "My son shares some resemblance to my wife's features like the colour of his eyes and freckles, and he does have recessive genes which means he was born as a black-haired baby but the hair stripe is just him doing alchemy even though I am brown-haired and my wife is auburn-haired. But still, he is my baby!"

Marcellus: "So, would you like to be my friend?" asked Marcellus towards Varian.

Varian: "Sure thing, Marcellus."

The male with albinism enters after Quirin has already come inside the house, Marcellus gasped because this place is seriously like a mini castle.

Quirin: "Varian, will you introduce him around here?"

Varian: "Sure, Dad."

As the alchemist grabs Marcellus's hand and walks through the rooms to show him around here since Marcellus will be staying more since his father had just now adopted him. While Marcellus just shrugged, Quirin couldn't help but smile at his son.

Comparing the Text of the "TANGLED: Before the Ever After SERIES BIBLE" and the "Tangled The Series: Series BIBLE"

I wanted to compare the text from the two Tangled bibles from the Disney leaks since there seemed to be a lot of overlap in the language and I was interested to see what had changed between the initial BEA bible(2015) and the TTS series bible(2018).

I'm in the asoiaf fandom and we do this with old George RR Martian drafts and manuscripts all the time, a sort of literary archeology. I took the plain text of both documents and ran a comparison to see what had changed between the two bibles. ((My dumbass put the 2018 TTS document as the original and the 2015 BEA doc as the "modified" one. So the Struck through text is actually the older/original/BEA.))

So obviously, the TTS bible was far longer since it was created and modified far later into development and even after wrap. It encompasses waaay more material. So naturally, all the S2 material outside if a brief synopsis was not in the BEA.

S1 Characters that do not appear in the 2015 BEA bible, but do in the 2018 TTS bible include: Angry, Red, Sugarby, Monty(even though his episode was), WRECK MARAUDER (Same as Monty), Fidella, and surprisingly: Stan and Pete.

And most surprising of all: the Captain didn't have a character profile in that initial document even though I could swear he has more episodes than characters like Lance, Varian, Quirin, and Xavier who all do have profiles in the 2015 BEA one.

I wonder if this indicates the order in which the characters were developed, or if they had different initial plans to use certain characters with more frequency and that didn't work out.

And as I sort of mentioned, in the BEA document, there were only summaries of six episodes after the special; "Challenge of the Brave," "Rapunzel's Enemy," "Cassandra Vs. Eugene," "In Like Flynn," "Under Wraps," and ""Fitzherbert PI."

It's fascinating to me how most of these are Cass and Eugene focused eps, with only one truly Raps focused one.

Anyway...

First big difference in the text:

By far the most common and consistent change between versions was Cassandra's job.

In 2015 in the Before Ever After pitch, she was consistently referred to as a "handmaiden" and then as of the 2018 TTS series bible this was changed everywhere to "lady in waiting".

I always wondered about this shift. At first I wondered if the change was to distance the show from the wildly successful, but thematically dark/adult "Handmaid's Tale" which came out within like a month of TTS, but now I'm wondering if it was more to align her thematically with her later characterization of "the Lady in waiting who is sick of waiting." It's probably that latter option. But I did kind of prefer the handmaiden angle since a lady in waiting is still comparatively powerful nobility. And imo a "maid" taking on a Kingdom is way more sympathetic than a lady doing so. It could have just added that extra layer of class conflict, but oh well.

No matter the reason, "Handmaiden" is out, "Lady in waiting" is in!

Attila got a little fleshing out between versions! Though this never seemed to materialize. I almost wonder if someone needed to hit a word-limit or something. I would have liked to see an ep showing Attila more and more integrated into Coronan society. See his progress from S1 to S3.

It seems the decision to have the full entourage outside of the main three on the mission might have been a later addition. (Alternatively the 2015 bible might have just had need to be more short and concise with the S2 details.)

It did seem(unfortunately) like the spare 5 didn't contribute much to the overarching plot, so I wouldn't be surprised if that were true. (And I'm including the Hookfoot filler episodes with that.) It would have looked pretty different, but might have been more character focused if they had gone in that direction.

Seems the Lorb episode was originally REALLY different...

The idea of them being mythical leaf people was a later addition, as well as the island aspect of the setting.

And it looked like the human "distinct tribe of people" were originally going to be worshiping Rapunzel and not Pascal. I can certainly see why they changed this so much.

It would be hard for Raps to beat the Demigoddess allegations and maintain the everyman vibe, plus the God Guise/Cargo Cult tropes are awkward as hell in that context.

No but really, no distinct mention of Adira or someone in her role. I wonder if the idea of discord/disagreement among the Brotherhood members didn't come about until later.

This is pretty cool! I didn't know that "Plus Est En Vous" seemed to be the initial name for the special! Then it got changed and used for the finale.

It also looks like "Cassandra vs. Eugene" was a pretty different episode initially as well.

It looks like originally, the scavenger hunt was not intended to lock them in the dungeons, and the Stabbingtons weren't involved.

I'm kind of of two minds on this one since on the one hand I like when decisions are deliberate and not just a matter of coincidence gives the characters agency. Plus I like the Stabbington's as villains and was glad to see them. But on the other hand, Rapunzel locking people in a cell when being locked away against her will is so central to her character and no one ever calling her out for it was so off-putting to me. Plus it made the Stabbingtons much less threatening.

I almost want to see that original version of that ep. I wonder if it would have been more character-focused.

And the last little changes I noticed were to "In Like Flynn" where they changed the word "crime" to "scheme" in the description and dropped the "King" for just "Frederic" probably just to convey the lighter tone of the episode better.

Oh, and one more!

The "Moonstone" didn't seem to be named as of BEA and there was some intentional(?) ambiguity about Edmond and his title and origin.

Overall not a lot of big differences. But it was a bit surprising what elements and characters where emphasized compared to what ended up manifesting in the show.

Ohhh my god how am I just now realizing this? If Edmund had the Flynn Rider books, then there’s no way he didn’t bug the rest of the Brotherhood about how great the books are.

Like Eugene mentions Flynn Rider and on the inside Hector’s just screaming. Adira sees his personal heirloom set and just blinks as 50 different flashbacks happen at once. As soon as Varian starts to get into it Quirin just sits down and groans because why god, why, he hasn’t heard the name of those books in 15 years

I was kind of shocked that Quirin would even let his son be around Eugene, considering his rep as Flynn at the start of the series, and later Lance. If he was so protective, I feel like Varian wouldn't have even been able to be in the series as much as he was, but I guess Quirin wasn't really "present" either, especially after he was rendered immobile... but even before that, it felt like he was more concerned with Old Corona.

Quirin wasn't "protective" of Varian, he was scared of what Varian was going to do to himself and everyone else by messing with things he didn't understand. There is literally no indication that he didn't want Varian to experience life or make friends. By the time Varian meets Eugene, he's also hanging around Rapunzel who is, by all accounts, an excellent influence. Besides, we also don't have any evidence that Quirin thought Eugene or Lance were untrustworthy, just because of their former lives.

Not to mention, Varian wasn't exactly known for doing what his dad told him to. Even if Quirin told him not to hang around Eugene and Lance, do you really think Varian would listen?

Hello, everyone! So the next chapter of Tangled In Texts is more about world building than comedy. This is partly due to writer's block, partly because I wanted to convey more on the functioning of the app the characters use to text each other. The corresponders are really starting to take shape in my head now, more than I thought they would when I first started writing this chat fic. This has prompted me to ask some questions.

I don't intend to give up the comedic elements of this fic - it's driving force is still to make myself and others laugh - but I wanted to know what you guys would think of having some more serious chapters? This would serve to move the story forward, allow for character exploration, and convey the inner workings of the system Varian has constructed. I don't plan to add any OCs or characters from other fandoms, but are there characters from the Tangled universe (or VAT7K, which I admit I don't know anything about currently, so they may not appear) that you would like to see? They can be anyone from an established character like Quaid to someone who appears in one frame throughout the entirety of the show. There are some characters who already have at least one confirmed appearance - the brotherhood (Edmund, Quirin, Hector, Adira), Cassandra's father, and I WILL find a way to get Lady Caine in there, but is there anyone else you would enjoy seeing?

I will hopefully be back to writing chapters regularly after Cassandra gets her corresponder back (in every single chapter without her in, she has ended up mentioned - I'm trying to avoid that for this last one without her), since I won't have "avoid your favourite character" on my mind anymore XD

au where varian manages to escape jail about a year after he's sentenced and runs to his house, to mourn and gather his equipment and his fathers horse and runs away from corona,

he becomes a pirate or simply resides in a village and takes up some of his old reputation (before he became a criminal) where the citizens don't know him and think he's some sort of sorcerer

and all throughout the years he is working tirelessly to find a way to break his father out from the amber

if he's a pirate i think he'd go on a vat7k adventure where he inevitably meet hugo, yong and nuru on the way, except he's still a criminal and he's like twenty odd

he's travels the world on a flying pirate ship, not too dissimilar from the pirate ship from treasure planet, and he's travelling tirelessly around the world searching for an answer (becoming a criminal in several more countries because he keeps. breaking. into. castle. libraries to ransack them for information)

however if we go with the second option, as i mentioned, he takes up his old reputation, where he's talked about by the people in the village as if he's a sorcerer, or a witch, and adults advise them to stay away from that house

until there's a kid who like, decides to break in and see all the fuss is about, and he learns that there's just a twenty year old guy who looks like he hasn't slept a day in his life and his only companion has been a raccoon.

he looks closer at what he's doing and is amazed at it and wants to learn more so he just asks him.

varian is shocked. because. again. his only companion for the last.. six years has been a raccoon and he's also supposed to be in hiding. the kid asks if he can be teach him any of his "spells" and varians too shocked to like. correct him, and tells him yes.

so varian starts teaching this kid science. and then more kids come. and he teaches them science. and it all becomes to a point that he becomes yknow. more involved in the village. and the village love him. because he's so helpful. (unlike the village in old corona)

and thats basically all ive got so far.

in both versions he is working tirelessly to find his father, pirate!varian as I've mentioned becomes a criminal for breaking into castle libraries and libraries and also places in castles where people are not. supposed. to. be. he gets his own crew of misfits and social rejects or other noble kids who have been rejected by society. he rules them with love and compassion and its just a little family. in the beginning of that he was jaded and work focused but they. started to get him to open up and he began to be more like his old self. ruddiger is happy.

in the teacher!varian version, he has some of the amber with him, he managed to replicate the formula of the amber and now he has never met a moments of peace because of that amber. he's living in a constant cycle of nightmares and really does his best of trial and error over and over and over again till he gets some sort of result. ruddiger is very worried.

in both of these versions i do see it going to a vat7k way, but again, where varian is still a criminal and its much further in the future so all the characters are older, like, hugo is 21, varian is 20, nuru is 16 and yong is 14

i havent decided on what the corona characters are doing. it could follow the same events but without varian things are at a stand still, since, yknow, he's the only one who can understand demanitus' handwriting,

if you wanna go super angsty, have rapunzel release quirin from the amber, but i wouldn't go that route and i personally don't like that route because can you imagine how devastating that would be for varian, that all of his tireless journeys have been for naught and that rapunzel was the one to free his father.

(4/10) Adult Ulla - Part 14

I forgot to tell the details I imagined before and after Ulla married Quirin before disappearing

Donella came back to Nesdernia and found no Faber family, and then, she selled weapons to the royalty of the place, (of course, after Cyrus selled weapons to the invasors, haha, round businesses) , the war ended as soon as the weapons were finished and delivered.

Then Don researched for Ulla in order to ask her to complete the trials together, but on the way, she and Cyrus would delay making their business get higher and make their fortune.

Meanwhile, Ulla and Ulf keep working on Pittsburgh, their natal land, a little desmotivated , both feeling like their love interest turned them down for too long, what if they never marry?

What if they are not as interesting or lovable as they thought?, well, mom and dad, they know they are proud, but yet, they feel unsatisfied and incomplete.

What if both, convincing their most recent knowledge, search for the love of their lives with divination? Instead of that Demanitus offspring like they did long ago.

They do, and they go to the location, the 7 trials no longer their interest, Holda and Tenax (their parents, now more old) give their approvals.

And OmG!, In Corona kingdom, Ulla finds Quirin as the love of her life, this looks like only a confirmation, but why him? If their last relationship didn't worked out, why it should now? Or is she destined to live as he showed her? She escapes

Quirin finds her, and speaks about what he is now, a man who is loyal to his death past, but loyal to his future and present, his ex-king gave him freedom, and his current king gave him a whole town to build and take care

Even with this new responsability, the current king asked him to pick a bride and live the joy of having a child, unlike himself and the sadness of getting his baby princess kidnapped.

He had no other women in mind than Ulla and her love she offered and he rejected, if she wouldn't come back, he wouldnt search no other, also he didn't searched for her, he doesn't deserve a new chance, but her visit to Corona is like a shooting star, Would she grant his imposible wish to marry her and have a family?

She said yes, and they renew their romance, she couldn't hold her emotions of feeling found (instead of Lost, the meaning of her name, why did her mom named her like this?), Quirin would be serious but lovely.

Ulla and Quirin were truly in love, but, Quirin would keep his way to act, so, the wedding would be a secret, she couldn't invite any of the friends she made, due to Quirin making not close friends, she couldn't invite her parents, due to Quirin having not parents.

Brothers? Maybe, but, his "death past" should be keept as secret, so...

She insisted al least her parents should come to that secret wedding, he agreeded, but the parents shouldn't talk about what happened.

They came, and they tried to bring Ulf, but postal service was not fast, and he was unreachable in time, at least, he would know the date of the wedding... Oups, why didn't they obeyed the "secret" part? , no postal service should had been involved.

Faber family explained the letter didn't mention Quirin, just Ulla, if there was ever a spy on the postal service, they can't find him, nor his location.

Donella wanted to find Ulla but couldn't find her in Pittsburgh, yet, she would waste no time,she set a war between the royal members with daftness and other body sickness against the "not sick" royal cousins with menaces of insurrection.

The she went back to Ingvarr, the business is flourishing on the server caves, she even has some clients who will transport her to the Baron headquarters near Barbados and Corona

In Ingvarr, she tries to find again her "not friend" but client who has a mansion-hospital, but , there is no one, she trespasses easyly, there is no security, all is stained with dry blood and hints of a battle on the walls, lots of walls, even hints of explosions.

Then she had a bad feeling, so, she used again that Ulla invention to scan paths on the soil and floor, and she found a secret room, she worked her way to that subterranean path.

There was a room locked, she opened it, and Don attached the thing that "jumped to assault her" but that dropped to the floor, the odor of death was there, at least, 5 deadbodies tried to open this very door from inside but they had not acid like Don, Don actually, so, they couldn't, and they died, the cause of death? Donella doesn't want to find out.

But looks like her initial shout had a delayed effect because after a minute, she herd a weak baby wail inside that room, her guts and disgust for this place's odor told her to leave, but she came back.

Don made her way and found the baby wailing, thin and dirty, there were 5 water bags of leather empty near him, maybe they got filled with maternal milk, how many time was this baby here ? And why was him the only one clearly chosen to stay alive?

No other baby had this opportunity, here there were 5 women and 4 babies deadbodies, all blondes, maybe the mothers noticed the person with the key to this lock was never coming back, and there were no supplies, were they left here because of a surprise attack?

Yep, the brothel client Donella had also hadn't been seen by the people in town, they may gad done a ridiculous not strategic warfare and both parties died, the bodies were retrieved except on this secret room.

Donella carried the baby outside this place, and leaved him outside an orphanage, she can't offer any milk to him, but the nuns will, yet, she may come back for him once he is older, she this time feels remorse, a little, deep inside, her outside is indifferent as ever.

Of course the mother of this child died because a war she created between people who didn't even meet before, she made a fortune, but she never took a look to the victims of the crossfire.

Donella wrote a paper with a name she picked for the baby, "Hugo", put it on the basket at the entrance of the orphanage and left, he was soo unhealthy thin, he may not survive, but she will visit again to know.

I went back to rewatch the Brotherhood scenes and grab some screencaps, and honestly I was quite surprised that this line was from Quirin! I had misremembered it as one of Hector’s

I love it though. Quirin’s role in the Brotherhood is criminally underutilized a little bit of a mixed one between Hector’s stark loyalty and Adira’s dissatisfaction with the current state. On the one hand, Quirin has by all signs seeming left the Brotherhood - he’s settled down in another kingdom, started a family, is happily living a farmer’s life.

But at the same time - he has been doing his duty behind the scenes. He’s the one who finds the Sundrop and while he seemingly breaks his oath to warn Frederic about removing it, for all we know he never mentions the Moonstone or the DK - just that removing the flower is a Bad Idea because this scroll says so. (and given that both the scroll & Corona’s ties to Demanitus, I wonder if that’s what led him there)

He probably chose to settle in Old Corona because the flower was removed to keep an eye on things. Probably lots of regrets about the Sundrop being real all along, only for it to be immediately lost. (I wonder if he told Adira)

Then all is quiet for 18 years. And then a year before BEA, the rocks suddenly appear where the flower was (really wonder what the catalyst for this is). Then 6 months later, the lost princess appears. Then 6 more months later her magic hair is back. And the rocks are spreading.

He’s the first one aware of it and.... he does nothing. Says nothing to anyone, just asks for more land when the situation gets bad enough. I think there’s a combination of things preventing him from speaking, but I’d like to think that at least one is him being lawful stupid - He is a knight of the Brotherhood. He will not reveal anything about the Moonstone ever.

Quirin and Adira were both present when Edmund tried to destroy the stone and nearly died. Hector was not :D #no clue where he was but that must have been a hell of a thing to come home to! :D

Adira: You really think so.

Hector: Nope, never in billion years.

Quirin: So, what Varian would never grew a inch or something.

Hector: No, it's not like that. And I get that it's about growth spurt, but seriously. To be similar height to you, that's ridiculous.

Quirin (Facepalm): As adult, Hector. But for now, he is beginning to grow a little taller due to the growth spurt like you mentioned.

Adira (Smiles): All Hector was saying is that a growth spurt is a short period of time when your child experiences quick physical growth in height and weight. Growth spurts are a normal part of your child's development and occur at different stages of their childhood until they reach physical maturity.

Hector (Crosses his arms): See, that's exactly what I say about Quirin's son experiencing some kind of change but he says like his son is going to be like him when he grows up by being tall and such which confused me.

Listen ik Adira knows about Varian because she mentions him in the great tree but i think it would be really funny if Edmund knew Quirin had a son before Adira and Hector did, probably through Eugene mentioning him.

So after the last battle, everyone's getting patched up, the brotherhood are sitting all together making sure they're all alive and not too injured. Then they hear a kid calling for their dad. And Quirin responds to it. And then this scrawny little guy comes running over and tackles Quirin in a hug. Hector and Adira are just completely stunned like- "you have a son?????" And it basically goes-

Adira: you have a son?? How old is he how long have we been unaware of this???

Edmund: oh, this must be Varian :D Horace has mentioned him, they're very good friends

Adira: you knew about this?????

“Victor is not Carla’s biological father.”

I am all for fan theories and respect any and all headcanons that you have for fictional characters. However, I will not tolerate fan theories that are based on ignorance. I do not expect everyone in the fandom to be a genetics expert. Nor do I expect everyone to even care about genetics. I am not an expert myself, but I have delved into it in the past, and have been doing so more recently. So this, combined with the passion and love for these characters, has motivated me to make this post.

WARNING: If you feel uncomfortable with mentioning of reproduction or have not learned about the process from your parents or in Biology class, than I advise that you skip the beginning of this post or avoid it entirely.

A baby is created when a man’s sperm and a woman’s egg meet. The moment the egg and sperm meet, the genetic material of the child is formed. Everyone knows that a child inherits 50 percent of a parent’s DNA. 50 percent from their mother, and 50 percent from their father. However, Inheriting half of a parent’s DNA does not mean that you inherit all of one parent’s genetic material. It means you only inherit half of their DNA, and the other half of their DNA you did not inherit. And what gets passed down to you and what gets left behind is completely random.

Now, let’s pretend that Varian or Carla had a sibling (a full sibling, not a half). Even though they would share the same set of biological parents, the genetic material that gets passed down to the sibling might vary and differ in contrast to what was passed down to Carla or Varian. They might inherit genes that Varian and Carla didn’t, or lack genes that Varian and Carla have. As such, It’s possible that this sibling might bear a stronger resemblance to Victor or Quirin than Varian or Carla do. But that wouldn’t make them any more or less related to their fathers than Varian or Carla.

This means that the genetic material that the two same sets of parents passed down to their other child differed in what they passed down to Varian and Carla. But it all comes from the same gene pool. Unless you and your sibling are identical twins, than the DNA that you recieve from your parents will be very different from the DNA that your sibling inherits from the same parents. So if you think of triplets like Bruno, Pepa and Julieta from Encanto or even fraternal twins like Amber and James from Sofia The First, yes, their DNA would be different too, even though they were born minutes apart from the same parents.

If we were to say that every child that bears a significant resemblance to one parent but not the other, cannot be related to that one parent just because they do not look like them, than you would be saying this about many children who don’t physically resemble their parents, yet are biologically related to both of them. There are multiple genes that influence our appearance, and not all of them are fully understood. The way our parents genes combine to create our genetic material and appearance are so unique, that it’s completely possible to look nothing like your biological parents at all.

I personally love shows such as Elena of Avalor that put careful time and effort into the physical appearances of characters and their relatives. There is a clear resemblance between them, without making characters clones of their parents or even grandparents. And the fact that there are some characters that look nothing like one, or either, of their parents, only adds to the realistic resemblances in families.

And Varian and Quirin and Victor and Carla love each other so much. Why would you not want them to be related to one another?

So yes. Victor is Carla’s biological father. Quirin is Varian’s biological father. End of debate.
