i could give a plethora of reason on why vegas dying in the finale doesn’t sit right with me, but i’ll just say this, he’s been abused and used as a mere tool by his father his entire life, has never known happiness/warmth or anything good and the minute he sees some light and finds someone who chooses him despite seeing him at his worst he dies? fucked up and senseless.

and neuvillette knew for so long furina was keeping a secret from him and it pained him to force that secret into the light, but he knew he had to in order to save fontaine, and despite that he still wanted to do it as gently as possible. to make the trial the last resort if the travelers conversation didnt work. after the final events of the archon quest, he let furina go wherever she wished, he (if im remembering correctly) gave her a nice house and enough funds to do as she pleased and live comfortably. he used his new authority over hydro to give her a vision made specifically for her, the very first vision he has given out. he has made it as clear as day that she is welcome to talk to him, to ask to have tea, to ask him for whatever or simply just to talk.

neuvillette using those actions to say “i hope you let me know who you truly are, and allow me to stay in your life for as long as you wish, but i love you so i will not force you.”

I hate that the mattrey community on tumblr is so dead now…it feels like yours is one of the only active blogs here lately :(

even though i joined the fandom during the ‘big boom’ (when mattrey started gaining popularity on tiktok and twitter), i don’t really miss that era as much as i think most people do.

i miss having more content and more conversation around mattrey, but i definitely don’t miss the people that were in these conversations. not only were a lot of fan accounts (specifically nsfw accounts) made by minors who were lying about there age, there were also large accounts who were also nsfw who knew they were minors and still interacted

there were a lot of parasocial relationships starting to form with mattrey (people at times acting like they know mattrey better than anyone else) which were, at times, genuinely dangerous to people’s mental health. people perpetuated those issues in the name of ‘better fics’ which was also a very dangerous thing to witness and i hope the people who were dealing with those issues got the help they needed

every other week there was a new drama that was somehow worse than the last and even though i didn’t like getting involved, there were things happening that i felt it’d be irresponsible to ignore. i learned that one of my closest mutuals was a 17 year old who lied about being 19 and it genuinely affected me in ways that i’m still dealing with to this day. because of that, i can’t trust most users on this app out of fear that they’re lying about their age and i’m having inappropriate conversations with minors without knowing.

i get that there was a lot more activity and i miss that aspect as well, but there was definitely more bad than good. i’m sure there are still minors in this space and that follow me who lie about their age and interact with my nsfw content and it’s made writing nsfw work more difficult for me since every time i think about posting, i think about the minors that followed me, who i thought were adults, who interacted and messaged me about those nsfw concepts (which is why it’s taken me so long to post the asks that i’ve gotten)
