I will forever be salty that in Adventure Time: Distant Lands, Obsidian they showed the history of the monster instead of more bubbline couple moments during "Monster" (Marcy's song to Bonnie). Like I get it was for the plot or whatever. But like.... that was the PERFECT moment to give us bubbline moments that had happened between the end of the finale of the original series and this episode. Or even like bubbline moments before the breakup!

picked up my copy volume 41 today and flipped through it and noticed in chapter 365 they changed kageyama’s “i think... he probably has a fever” to “hinata... you’re running a fever aren’t you?”

and i know this happens a lot where translations get changed between the weekly releases and the volumes, and functionally the lines are basically the same, but the vibes of them are so different to me

i always liked the first translation because it felt almost like kageyama was realizing it in the moment, putting together the pieces of hinata’s hands being so hot etc, and he was just like voicing that realization out loud, sort of not to anyone in particular. but the new iteration takes away a bit of that sudden realization to me, and it feels more like he had more of a conscious thought about the fever sooner and is only saying something now. which, tbh isn’t THAT big of a difference, it’s just like a slight nuance that i feel doesn’t quite capture the shock of the moment as well (but also i’ve been rereading the same translation and accepted my interpretation of it as canon for the last almost two years so, i am also biased lol)

anyway whenever different translations pop up like this it makes me wonder what the original japanese was and what the vibe was there—did the first translation take the words less literally and go for the feel of the words, and the second one was more accurate to the words? or the other way around? the fact that kageyama actually uses hinata’s name in the newer translation is interesting to me too, idk why but that seems odd to me for him to address him directly, and for his name to be in one translation and not the other
