#SORRY IT TOOK ME A WHILE

Prompt- Steve sending Eddie a bouquet of black and red roses every Valentine's Day since corroded coffin performed in the talent show.

Secondary prompt- Possibly leaving one at his bedside during Eddie's recovery from the bat bites, or maybe leaving them by his grave...

The first thing Eddie noticed when he woke up was the soft beeping noise. No more the loud screeching sounds of the bats or Dustin’s cries next to him as he was dying on the cold ground of the upside down.

When his senses started to come back, he knew he was laying on something soft. A bed, probably.

Definitely.

He slowly opened his eyes and the brightness of the room shocked him which made him vince. He tried to move his hand to rub his eyes, but a shocking pain shot through his body and he groaned.

Suddenly there was rustling next to him and soon someone was next to him, touching him and Eddie tried to look up to who it was, but his vision was still a bit unfocused as he felt dizzy.

”Eddie? Eddie?! Oh my god, you’re awake, jesus, I-I need to-”

Eddie couldn’t understand the most of what was said, but he could recognize that voice from anywhere.

It was Steve. Steve, who was sounding like he was on the edge of crying with how his voice got so high and shaky.

As Eddie’s eyes finally started coming to focus, he looked around the room, a hospital room and his eyes landed onto a bouquet on the small table beside the door.

”…a bouquet?” Eddie questioned, voice raspy and deep and he felt really fucking thirsty.

As he looked at it closer, he was hit by a realization and… familiarity. They were roses, both red and black, neatly put into a vase where they looked fresh as ever.

He had been getting those same exact bouquet’s of roses ever since he played at the talent show on Valentine’s Day during middle school.

He still remembers when he had gotten it after the show, a teacher of all people giving it to him, saying ’This was left for you, Munson’ as he handed the roses with an awkward grunt.

Eddie had thought it had been a joke, but when he read the small note on the roses that called him really talented and cute, he felt like tearing up with happiness.

He put that note into a safe place at home and read it whenever he needed it the most.

But it never stopped there. Every year, every Valentine’s Day, he always got it. The same bouquet of roses.

Sometimes it was hanging on his locker, on his seat where he sat during DnD, on his van… But he never found out who left them for him, even when he tried his best to find out.

Steve looked like he was seconds away from crying, eyes big and glossy, but he gave Eddie a soft laugh and glanced towards the bouquet.

”Yeah… It’s um.. It’s from me.”

Eddie’s eyes snapped wide.

His heart monitor must’ve picked up, because soon Steve was next to him, like right next to him and touching his forehead and fuck did it feel good.

”Shit, Eddie. You need to stay calm! You went through hell and if your heartbeat picks up too much you can—”

”You…” Eddie rasped out, moving his hand to wrap it around Steve’s wrist even though it hurt like hell. Steve froze, staring down at him with big eyes as he let Eddie guide his hand down from his forehead to his bandaged chest.

”It was… you?” He got out finally.

Steve’s pretty face had this soft blush on it and if Eddie wasn’t in so much pain and bunch of painkillers, he would’ve stood up and picked the man up into his arms.

”Steve—”

”Yeah…” Steve answered, voice sweet like honey as he interrupted Eddie, ”it was me. Always has been.”

If Eddie had never gotten hurt or had never gotten those roses on his hospital room’s table and Steve being there when he woke up, he doesn’t think he would’ve found himself four months later laying in bed next to Steve, who was giving his scars soft kisses while Eddie held him close to his chest.

At least getting almost eaten by the demobats had one positive thing coming out of it.

Human Steven had a bead of sweat drip from his temple down the side of his cheek. He was afraid she would have mentioned that alternative. He tried to make it seem like he wasn't already over whelmed by the very thought of screwing up such a simple task to most people but he could already feel the nausea welling up in his core, nearly to the point he could smell the phantom scent of hair dye and hear the screams of the teenage girl screaming that some how he had turned her hair some sort of disgusting shade of chartreuse, or he caused her her hair fell out because he did something wrong.

The human's face started turning a slight pink around the cheeks and the bridge of his nose glowing a bit around the edges and in his eyes that seemed to have a 1000 yard stare. He knew that Eris has been through it while she was away and she was seemingly comfortable at home, but the looming threat of him messing it all up felt ever present even when Eris didn't seem like she wanted to leave, but she didn't seem like she wanted to leave before but she still did. As she mentioned that he was held up here in his room it reminded him that they were very much having a conversation.

He let out a nervous chuckle. "Right, right. Of course... dying hair at home is the cheaper option compared to having a professional hair stylist do it." He was having trouble trying to hide his stress about the whole thing. "Let's tackle the whole food situation first though, then we can get to your hair situation... if that's ok..." "maybe Gem Steven will be home by then and he could take care of it, or maybe Connie could... but then again I don't wanna rub the fact she lost her romantic partner when mine also died but she's pink." Human Steven thought the last part to himself.

(i'm going to limit myself to one jeff song despite pretty much listening to only his music since july)

1. Stranger by Jeff Satur - this song has had a chokehold on me since it came out. the first time i listened to it was the day it was released. my spotify is still on my home country's timezone so despite living in a country where it's an hour earlier, i could listen to it on spotify at 11pm instead of midnight. i was on a call with my best friend who still didn't have access to it so i played it on my laptop so they could hear it too. we spent the evening listening to it on loop until we went to sleep.

2. Doing This Again! by Bears In Trees - even with my newfound obsession with Jeff, they were still my top played artist in 2022, which says a lot. their music just speaks to me. the amount of times i've screamed this specific song at the top of my lungs at 6am in the morning is,,, well. it's a lot.

3. Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen - a classic of course. i grew up listening to my dad's cassette tapes of Queen, i don't actually remember if this song was on one of them or not but this is a song that always has me dancing and cheers me up no matter what mood i'm in.

4. IF NOT FOR YOU by Måneskin - a new favourite! first time i listened to their new album was the day after it came out when one of my best friends texted me about it. we spent an hour listening to it together and commenting it and we agreed that this song is a favourite for both us.

5. Car's Outside by James Arthur - since my best friend and i are long distance and goodbyes are always incredibly hard (and they keep getting harder), this song is something that we decided is our song. it never fails to make me cry.

6. Drinking Song for the Socially Anxious by The Amazing Devil - they're another of my favourite music artists! their vocals are amazing and their lyrics speak to me. this song especially. just give it a listen, you'll see why

My opinions didn't really change, so there's no need to go too deep into it again. Basically do whatever you want, just as long as you're honest about it and not trying to pretend to be someone else cause that's fucking weird.

5. dash commentary

Dash commentary is cool, I guess. I am just not here often to do much of it myself so I never have much context or care of what's going on. On a rare moon, I might comment on something but not often. Again, I'm not here a lot to say more than the surface level with dash commentary stuff.

17. fanon interpretations

First off, I am sorry if I sound all over the place. At the moment I was filled with nothing but anti-depressions, ginger ale, carrot cake, and no sleep lol.

But basically, I feel like as long I like the mun and how they write how they interpret the character is their own thing. However, I do always have the mindset that if the idea of a fanon take of a canon character differs so much that the only thing they have is the namesake well they're just an OC thing in my opinion but again that's just me. However someone wanna deviate or change a canon character is up to there and if I'm chill with how they write I don't really say nothing. I know some get hot about it how a character should, but I acknowledge changes, OOCness, and other things without getting feelings involved and just enjoy writing.

29. blocking

Lastly, I don't understand what the fuck soft blocking is. Where all this soft and hard blocking talk came from, I thought we just blocked. If you don't want to talk to someone at all you just block the fucker, simple. With that said though, I do hope people are blocking because it makes them feel more comfortable and safe and not for petty reasons though at the end of the day I can't really judge what reasons someone have anyway.
