Finding Serenity AMIDST STARDUST
Celebrity Makeup Artist Mary Wiles
Beyond the dazzling world of celebrities and Fashion Weeks, British makeup maven Mary Wiles enjoys the quiet charm she's found in Sutton.
"I love how quiet and calm it is here despite being in NYC," she beams. "I also love the park at 57th by the water, and the new esplanade is stunning." It's been her serene spot since May 2019, finding a peaceful respite between the city's hustle and her whirlwind career. Mary's a regular at Tenz Coffee Shop on 1st. "They make the most amazing lavender flat white. It's the best in the city, or anywhere in fact," she gushes. "The carrot cake is also divine."
With over 25 years of experience in the makeup industry, Mary's professional journey spans across continents — from London to Paris and now in the heart of New York, for fashion week. "I work mainly with celebrities, so I will be working with clients going to the shows and sitting in the front row," she explains. From dazzling runway shows to rubbing shoulders with A-listers at star-studded movie premieres, her career reads like a glittering Hollywood script.
Celebrities like Naomi Watts, Sadie Sink, Demi Moore, and Diane Keaton pepper her client list, highlighting her remarkable journey in the world of glitz and glam."I love keeping it varied and working with all people of all walks of life," she exclaims, emphasizing her deep appreciation for diversity and individual stories. As much as Mary immerses herself in the world of beauty and high-profile events, her quest for balance and grounding is evident. "I try to be present and have a good balance," she reflects.
Her goals are simple: be present, remain content in her work, and find a good balance. Sipping lavender flat whites in Sutton and cherishing moments of tranquility amidst the city's chaos, Mary epitomizes grace and composure.

ANURADHA
Anuradha, the 17th nakshatra in Vedic astrology, is a constellation marked by depth and nuance. Influenced by the stern but grounding Saturn and the benevolent deity Mitra (friendship), people born under Anuradha navigate life with a blend of practicality and idealism.
A core strength of Anuradha natives is their talent for building strong relationships. They value loyalty, honesty, and fairness, fostering a sense of harmony within their social circles. Their diplomatic nature makes them adept at bridging divides and creating a sense of unity.
Tumblr media
However, this desire for connection can mask a deep well of emotional sensitivity. While they project a composed exterior, Anuradha individuals can be quite attuned to the feelings of others, sometimes to their own detriment. This can lead to a tendency to be overly invested in relationships, requiring them to develop healthy boundaries.
The influence of Saturn brings a dose of realism. Anuradha natives may face challenges and setbacks early on, but they are equipped with remarkable resilience. This perseverance allows them to overcome obstacles and find solace in self-discovery, often through intellectual pursuits or spiritual exploration.
Tumblr media
Anuradha's symbol, the staff, hints at their potential for wielding knowledge and navigating complexities. They may have a natural curiosity about occult subjects or hidden patterns. This, combined with a logical mind, can make them skilled researchers or analysts.
Their inherent empathy allows them to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, making them valuable friends and colleagues. However, their sensitivity can leave them vulnerable to emotional overload. Their inherent selectiveness in choosing friends underscores their awareness of this vulnerability and (hopefully) allows them some measure of protection.
Ultimately, Anuradha is a nakshatra of transformation. With their unwavering dedication, empathetic nature, and thirst for knowledge, Anuradha individuals have the potential to become charismatic leaders who champion social causes. Theirs is a journey of uncovering the hidden light within and a testament to the potential for growth that exists even in the most obscure places - just like their symbol, the lotus, that blooms from muddy waters.

Anne Morgan (daughter of J.P.) speaks at a meeting of the American Women's Association at her townhouse in Sutton Place, November 3, 1927. The AWA, which Morgan helped found, was a social club where working women could develop leadership skills and network. She was also, among other things, a union activist who actively supported striking female workers in the city's garment industry. In 1915 she established a help organization on the French front, including a health service that still exists today.

O2. The “Hosts”/ Proxies
Synopsis: One step closer to heaven, but falling down to hell after tripping.
General Content Warning: cannibalism/ gore/ cults mentioned in EJ, and abuse /BRIEFLY/ hinted at in Toby's.
Notes: I GOT TO YAP ABOUT TOBY, TODAY IS A GREAT DAY PEOPLE... (I love this man so much)
One step on the moon, one leap for Tobias Erin Rogers, or whatever that guy said.
Kate is still a WIP because I need to replay Slender: The Arrival and check up on her story again to get a gist of her character, and Brian is a WIP because even though I watched Marble Hornets I was not paying attention whenever that man was on screen. (I'm just a girl who was trying to see Tim Sutton play a character who is NOT having a field day.)
I didn't add Kate because the only thing I have on her is "the third to join" 😭, I CAN'T LOOK LIKE A COOL AESTHETIC CREEPYPASTA BLOG IF I CAN'T EVEN WRITE A FULL SENTENCE ABOUT MY INTERPS !! 😡😡🤬. (I'll add her once I finally manage to get more of an idea of her character/ where she is in the story and manage to write a full sentence about her.)
The “Hosts” of The Operator consist of:
Jeff The Killer
Tim Wright/ Masky
Brian Thomas/ Hoodie, (WIP!)
Tobias Erin Rogers/ Toby
Kate The Chaser, (WIP!)
Eyeless Jack, (in the process of becoming a “host” is more heavily influenced than the others due to The Operator needing to rely on him more since he's the only one around with adequate medical experience to tend to wounds.)
Jeff The Killer
The fourth to join, after killing his family he fled to the woods in seek of refugee from the cops where he ended up abruptly being forced to succumb to “Operator Sickness” the longer he had to stay/live in the woods.
He is sadistic, cruel, apathetic, selfish, and quick to anger. He is /not/ kind or sympathetic to anyone or anything, He does not feel bad for life or taking it away, he kills for the adrenaline rush of it all to see somebody’s misery/ suffering as he takes life away and for the /joy/ of it all. If you try to plead a sob story with him or how much you “relate” to him he’ll just laugh in your face and play with your emotions before eventually killing you off.
He used to play with dead cats and would kill small animals in their yard when he was younger, but Liu and his family would just brush it off as Jeff being a weird little kid- even when he began to become weirdly obsessed with forensic science and the study of murder and even gave Liu a dead cat once, they just brushed it off.
He likes the attention of fangirls and finds them amusing, (and they give him a /major/ ego boost.) But doesn’t care for them enough to spare them at the end of the day. He’ll kill anyone he runs into contact with, and fangirls aren’t the exception. He’ll just toy with them and flatter them, making them feel as if they're worth something- as if he cares about them before mocking them /cruelly/ in the process of doing so before eventually killing them off. The only reason why Nina is still standing is because she had a good enough survival instinct to run away before he could end her, making him /hate/ her.
I HC that he struggles with Intermittent Rage Disorder, ASPD (Anti - Social Personality Disorder), and narcissism. So he is /extremely/ quick to anger, and his rage isn’t just a brooding teenager screaming at his mom to get out of his room- it’s a Molton, seeping, hot rage that genuinely kills/ threatens the lives and well-being of anyone in a general vicinity. He manipulates people who show interest in him to do his bidding before eventually cutting them off abruptly, dropping that he never cared for them in the first place. He’s selfish and only thinks about himself in every aspect of his life, including relationships and social interactions most of all.
If he approaches you, it’s because he sees something that /he/ can gain from the conversation- not because he wanted to just out of good will. He doesn’t care or spare other people’s feelings, only thinking about the joy/adrenaline rush /he’ll/ get out of something. He has a "bit" of a superiority complex of sorts, assuming he’s the most beautiful of them all. And that even if he carves into somebody to make them beautiful like /him/, he’s still the most stunning of them all.
Don’t even think about changing him, he doesn’t want to be changed- he knows what he’s doing is wrong, /he just doesn’t care./
He lives in abandoned cars in the woods, not really caring about settling down and finding a home- only on the run/ adrenaline rush that killing gives him.
He has nobody close to him, and he doesn’t care for relationships- only himself.
He hates The Operator and has fought against him countless times and will still do so, having not learned his lesson yet. He doesn’t like the feeling of somebody else having control over him, especially with how “powerful” he is, so even if the memories he brings back make him feel /hurt/ with an ache in his chest occasionally, he’ll continue to fight.
He’s generally around 28 in my au/interp, (to make him fit into Nina’s story. I originally was going to make him mid 30’s- but eh, fuck it we ball.)
Tim Wright/ Masky
The first to join, during the set of Marble Hornets he was practically struggling with the “Operator sickness” (the influence/disease caused by The Operator), and infected Brian in the process due to them being best friends and now also being forced to be around each other due to filming. His licensed schizophrenia not making it any better/ and making it easier for him to fall under the influence.
Masky is an alter ego in a sense, Tim is not conscious at all of whatever Masky does when he “fronts”/ takes over. He struggles with Dissociative Amnesia which means he completely forgets what happens in the time Masky “fronts”, he forgets the murder he committed and is left with the afterglow countless times- forced to look down at bloodied hands with shaky breathes and widened eyes.
Masky was made in a way to sort of cope with Tim being a “pushover” various times throughout his life/ when it came to Tim easily accepting his fate under The Operator. Tim didn’t bother to fight, he was scared and just let The Operator slowly take over him and form, thus making Masky form in a rebellious manner to “combat” against The Operator- just to be broken down psychologically and forced to work under The Operator.
Neither Tim nor Masky like The Operator or “obediently” work under him, they both loath/ hate him and just work under him in fear of what the being can do to them/ fear of completely losing a grip of themselves. They don’t like working for him, they just fear what would happen to them both if they didn’t and pulled themselves out.
Tim isn’t nice, he’s sympathetic to a /certain/ degree- but he doesn’t show it, /at all./ He’s socially awkward and keeps to himself in the internal fear of affecting anybody else to succumb to The Operator Sickness like he did to Brian, to /everyone/ on the set of Marble Hornets. He blames himself for what happened is practically filled with self-loathing, but hides it well by a rough exterior- barely even flinching at any gore as he lazily smokes on a Marlboro Red.
He’s cold, but awkward all the while- and cuts straight to the point, ending any conversation as fast as possible efficiently with a /severe/ resting bitch face. He can be snappy and quick to anger, not bothering to yell/ start an argument.
He doesn’t have anyone close to him, only co-workers and enemies, and he’d prefer to keep it that way.
Masky is /cruel/, sadistic, and apathetic. He doesn’t spare any sympathy and is cruel and teasing/mocking while doing so, he doesn’t shed tears with pleading victims- he only finds a profound /amusement/in their suffering. He’ll happily grin and laugh in your face if you’re pleading for a sense of sympathy or crying about your dead family.
His tactics are /brutal/, he’ll use anything he can get his hands on as a weapon- he’s self-sufficient in that manner and he won’t even bat an eye if some intestines come spilling out. He is /not/ the “host” you will be getting a sense of humanity from, he treats your suffering like a toy he finds great entertainment in and finds genuine satisfaction from hurting people.
He’s like a robot completing a mission, and /nothing/ will make him stop a mission once he picks it up.
Unlike Hoodie, he kills just to kill without meaning.
He lives in a busted-down Cabin that’s a part of the inner woods/ depths, as close to The Operator as humanly possible without him going insane so he can be at The Operator’s every beck and call- The Operator relying on him more considering he’s the first of the group that The Operator “influenced.” He doesn’t like it and complains about it, but can’t do anything to fix it.
He is not friends with Hoodie/ Brian, the duo after having a fallout after Tim pushed the man out of a building/ window/  nearing the end of Marble Hornets.
He’s in his mid-30s and has a beard growing from months of not shaving due to guilt/ depression.
Brian Thomas/ Hoodie (WIP!!)
I’m good at reading Hoodie’s character, but not so much of Brian’s yet. So unfortunately for the time being I’ll go more into depth on Hoodie’s part, I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
He’s second to join shortly after Tim, being quickly affected due to him being best friends with the man- especially since he spent so much time by the man while he was being affected.
Brian hates the idea of Tim/ even the mere topic of the man being brought up, and Hoodie is the same way and feels the exact same way about Tim/Masky. The memories are too bittersweet, he hates Tim for what he unknowingly caused and misses the life that they had before The Operator happened- but still misses the man. They were best friends, after all.
A sick part of him feels like Tim is the only one to understand where he’s coming from, and he might even try to make contact with Tim when he feels like this. But then pauses and remembers how much /damage/ Tim/Masky caused and stops himself and goes right back to hating him. It’s a miserable cycle he goes day by day, but he can’t find himself getting a clear grip on his emotions anytime soon.
Hoodie hates The Operator, and so does Brian and they both do anything in their way to rebel/ go against The Operator. Their only goal is to kill Masky or at the very least Tim.
Eventually, Hoodie was forced to give up after a particularly grueling fight that cost him his life and he was forced to begin working directly under The Operator. And although he is still plotting against The Operator, he isn’t as open about it.
Hoodie is /manipulative/, he doesn’t speak and is generally a selective mute. But if the situation calls for it he knows just exactly how to turn on that Southern charm that makes anyone /swoon/ into talking too much and giving him the information he needs. He isn’t empathetic, and although he is a /tad/ bit sympathetic- it isn’t generally enough to make him care about what happens to you at the end of the day.
He's an instigator, he gathers as much information on you as possible and follows you around to tip you on the edge of paranoia before handing out anything he gets on you to The Operator. He doesn't kill unless The Operator asks him to and is more so just there to push the victim further into The Operator Sickness/ just to let the victim know that they're being watched.
THAT’S ALL I GOT- I’M WORKING ON THEM STILL. I’M SO SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!
Tobias Erin Rogers/ Toby
The last to join, he’s just 26, verging on 27 in the present day. He succumbed to the “Operator Sickness” during the weeks leading up to Lyra’s death, only to become easier to be influenced the longer the weeks stretched by after Lyra’s death. Eventually, when he snapped and killed his father- he was already too far gone and completely affected by the “Operator Sickness” and succumbed to being a “host” easily the second The Operator showed up to save him from the fire.
He isn’t kind, he’s /extremely/ hard to get along with. He’s not waffle-obsessed, “Hey Masky!” Childish idiot who somehow managed to become a “host”, he’s /brutal/, analytical, and is a genuine threat to anyone who comes across him.
When he was 17 and freshly joined the “Hosts”, he was naive, I’ll admit that. He genuinely believed that he could gather The Operator’s praise as long as he did what he wanted and thought that he could consider The Operator as a father figure. But upon working for him longer, he soon slowly begins to realize that The Operator doesn’t care for him at all and can easily replace him- slowly making him loathe and eventually form a hatred for The Operator.
He hates how dumb he was, he hates how The Operator stole away his past and he can’t remember anything about it. But when he /briefly/ remembers his past because The Operator /wanted/ him too, he hates it and just desperately wishes to forget it all again.
He doesn’t like working under The Operator, but he stays working under The Operator due to fear- fear that he’ll be forced to remember everything again, he /wants/ to remember, but he can’t ignore the array of emotions he feels when he finally does remember and he /hates/ that.
He hates feeling weak in general, after possible years of feeling weak- for once he wants to be the top dog, the brute that everybody fears.
In his teenage years, (17-19) he was childish, dumb, and playful- but as the reality of the situation began to dawn on him and he realized just exactly how The Operator couldn’t give a shit about him, he began to change. He began to become more cold, realizing now that he could die at any second and he could be easily replaced- the fear dawning on him as he began to harden and grow to be more /brutal./
He’s /crude/, sadistic, and playful- but being oh-so-/cruel/ while doing so. He treats it like a cat and mouse hunt, and the cat /always/ wins- he’ll tease you and play along about not your hiding place, already knowing he knows /exactly/ where you are. It’s just one big game to him.
His sense of humor is morbid and dark, he’s awfully sarcastic and sounds /mocking/ while doing so- he doesn’t care if he hurts your feelings or not and might even snicker like a little shit if he sees you shedding a tear as he continuously /mocks/ you for every single thing you do. Sure, he’s a /little/ bit more empathetic than the rest of the “Hosts”, but not by much. He might narrow his eyes with a twinge of his brow as frowns upon hearing you vent about your abusive relationship/ friendship and will seem generally sympathetic but he won’t do much to help save you and will still kill you at the end of the day.
He’s hard to get along with, and if you say something in even the slightly wrong tone he’s quick to start an argument. And it’s not a rebellious teen's anger- no, his anger can parallel Jeff’s from how /enraged/ he gets. It only gets worse if he feels like you’re teasing him for it, after all. He screams and yells until his voice cracks and his throat aches, he swings his hatchets around like a madman- bloodthirsty and maniac as he looks at you as if he wants you dead.
He does this because he doesn’t like feeling /weak, he doesn’t like the feeling of being picked on- he doesn’t like being seen as anything else other than a big dog. He wants to feel /worth/ something, so he does it by feeding into a power complex that he’s only worth something if he’s strong or a top dog in a big power ring.
So even if he doesn’t like lashing out like /somebody/ he can’t even remember and practically physically recoils at the memories, he can’t help himself from lashing out when so overwhelmed by the feeling/ emotion of being /weak/ he ends up getting lost in his emotions while doing so.
He’s generally a loner and prefers to stick with the friends he has and doesn’t care or need to make more. He likes the friends he has already and wouldn’t bother changing them. (Not to mention that he isn’t a fan of socializing either). He wants to be loved, and he yearns for it like nothing more- he just can’t get it because of his mindset of acting like a rabid dog to the hand who tries to help.
He already went through too much, and he can’t be changed because of it because it permanently altered his mind of thinking. He literally /can’t/ change because it’s all he’s been taught.
Even if he doesn’t remember his past, the damage is still there and done- and even if he can’t know or remember /why/ he exactly acts this way. But all he knows is that he /needs/ to act like it.
He has a cabin deeper into the woods of Rosewood Park that verges on the line of The Operator’s territory, but he usually just ends up crashing at Clockwork’s place anyway because it’s “nicer.”
He does NOT like having to live around The Operator 😭😭‼️
Sorry, I couldn’t help yapping about Toby- he’s my favorite, ugh.
Eyeless Jack
The fifth to join, he was originally just an “influenced”, but the more proxies The Operator started to gain, the more he realized he needed somebody in the medical field to tend to his proxies who just kept on getting hurt on missions. (Especially Jeff, despite the man /refusing/ any help- his ego too big to admit somebody great like /HIM/ needs to depend on anybody else.)
Eyeless Jack was the first for The Operator to rely on, the man having been majoring in human physiology and having adequate experience before the “incident.”
The more he hung out around The Operator and his “hosts”, the more he got affected by The Operator's sickness- eventually resulting in him where he is now, slowly but unknowingly turning into a “Host.” (He’s aware, he just decides to bury it down and not focus on it too hard in denial about the whole situation.)
He is controlled by the demon inside of him, not the other way around. I repeat, /he literally cannot control his own body./
I HC he’s possessed by the demon/ entity of a Wendigo, his hunger is literally /insatiable/ and he’s always hungry and greedy for more. He’s not one to be around, especially if you’re just a mortal because nine times out of ten he’ll eat you, or at the /very/ least get a nibble out of you or an organ to feast on later.
Even when he’s himself and isn’t /completely/ bloodthirsty, he needs to have an organ supply on him 24/7 (especially when tending to a “Host”) or else he will eat everyone in the room and even bits of himself if he can’t solve for his hunger quick enough.
At random times, he can become /very/ bloodthirsty and hostile seemingly for no reason at all. He can be hanging out with you, silent as usual before all of a sudden tackling you and ripping off your ear for just a /small/ nibble to tend to his insatiable hunger.
When he isn’t bloodthirsty though and is more so of “himself”, he’s a loner and tends to stick to himself. He’s quiet, calm, and collected- nonchalant and straight to the point and wants to get most social interactions done as quickly as possible. He can come off as monotone and bored without even trying it, and even if it isn’t his intention- it just sort of happens, not that he cares about it.
He doesn’t care for making friends and genuinely doesn’t want to, he finds solace in his life when it’s quiet- and although he does find himself lulling occasionally about how /nice/ it would be to have somebody there, to feel /human/ again, he knows internally that he can’t have it due to his hunger. So he avoids the topic completely or ignores it and buries it deep down.
He lives in a busted-down abandoned cabin somewhere along the North front of The Operator’s territory and is 28 years old.
He doesn't really have a sense of sight and it's all muddied/ thermal location, so he has to rely on hearing for the most part. He can see /slightly/ better at night, but it's still not good.

"The second night of TIFF was a busy one for Armie Hammer. He and fellow actors Dev Petel and Nazanin Boniadi are in town to premiere Hotel Mumbai, director Anthony Maras’s debut feature, which focuses on the Mumbai terrorist attacks that took place 10 years ago.
For Mr. Hammer and his wife, actor Elizabeth Chambers, this was one of three stops on last night’s social circuit: earlier in the evening at the pre-world premiere party given for director Tim Sutton’s new film Donnybrook at RBC House, the pair made an appearance in support of friend Frank Grillo, who alongside Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley star in the film. [...]
Night two culminated with the annual hot-ticket HUGO BOSS-hosted soiree, which this year, hosted alongside Amazon Studios, served as the world premiere celebration for Felix Van Groeningen’s greatly anticipated Beautiful Boy, staring young man of the moment Timothée Chalamet, Steve Carell and Amy Ryan. Mr. Chalamet, who wore a Haider Ackermann embroidered suit, breezed into the party and headed for the second floor of the club where he was later joined by party hopper Mr. Hammer, making for a Call Me By Your Name reunion of sorts."

Born in Covington, GA - Maddie is the youngest child and the oldest daughter to Scott and Andrea Donovan. Her older brother is 5 years older than her.
She was a social butterfly in school. Friends with everyone, on the cheerleading team, captain of the soccer team, on the homecoming committee, and in the yearbook club.
She had always dreamed of leaving Georgia, and seeing the world - but got cold feet when it came time to pick a college, and ultimately, after a breakup she decided to take the leap and move to New York City, where she attended NYU.
She spent the next four years studying business management, before graduating with a business management degree.
After college, Maddison took a job at a local gym chain, working her way up to regional manager in the New York area - she kept her small studio on the upper east side, and during her off time she traveled the world, checking off her bucket list with each place she visited.
Six months ago however, Theo called her to give her the news that their mother had stage 3 Leukemia, and without a second thought - Maddison packed up her small studio apartment, and made the move back to Georgia.
Now, she has opened a Yoga Studio downtown and rented a two bedroom apartment close by.
In between the studio, and caring for her mother - Maddison is getting reacquainted with the small town she left behind so many years before.
headcanons .
Maddison never settled down, and never wanted kids - the idea kind of terrifies her, which is why she hasn't had a serious relationship since college.
Bear is five years old, and her best friend. That dog goes everywhere with Maddison.
Her mom is the parent she is super closest with, and her being sick has really affected Maddison more than she would like to admit.
Aside from owning the yoga studio, she often teaches classes. Usually in the early mornings - since she is a early riser.

history of names of situational mutism
in 1877 sm was first described by German physician Adolph Kussmaul (who was also the first to describe dyslexia, calling it ‘word blindness’. He called SM ‘aphasia voluntaria’ (voluntary/choice)
in 1980 Torey Hayden identified 4 subtypes of ‘elective mutism’, which are no longer recognised and are not part of diagnostic use. Only one subtype is still sometimes used: speech phobia, to descibe SM people with no clinical social anxiety. ‘elective’ suggests refusal to speak.
in 1980 the DSM-3 first identified ‘elective mutism’, listing predisposing factors like ‘excessive shyness’, trauma, maternal overprotection etc.
1987 it was revised (DSM-3-R) to specify that it’s not related to social phobia.
2000 due to Sue Newman of the Selective Mutism Foundation, the DSM-4-TR recognised it as ‘selective mutism’ not elective. ‘selective’ was intended to refer to the selective situations, but has been misinterpreted as a choice. Newman is also the reason the disorder is described as a ‘failure to speak’ not a refusal or choice.
in 2013 the DSM-5 moved SM from the childhood disorders category to the anxiety disorders category. The DSM-5 also drops the reference to trauma as a possible cause of SM, and indicates that SM has equal gender distribution, whereas the DSM-4-TR had indicated slightly more females than males.
People thought the DSM-5 would subsume SM into SAD, but this didn’t happen due to the uncertainty surrounding the relationship between the two disorders. (high comorbidity, some argue SM is an extreme version of SAD; some argue SAD causes SM; others argue vice versa).
people with SM have since recognised it as ‘situational mutism’ to avoid the misunderstanding that sm is ‘selective’ or a choice not to speak; and they consider it an inability to speak in certain situations (people, places, settings). but this name is still not enough in my opinion, because it still focuses on what is considered the biggest problem for OTHER people, rather than for the person. sm is not just mutism (inability to speak); it affects all forms of communication. 🌹🌹

"The construction of screen time as the moral evil responsible for this fall figures screen time and offline time as two sharply distinct and yet internally homogeneous categories, bound in direct opposition to one another (screen time is passive and introverted; offline time is active and social).
The absence of analysis about what exactly we are doing online or offline — as well as the ways that screens and “real life” blur together — lend this discussion an almost magical quality:
It is as if the mere presence of a screen becomes a kind of radiation, triggering irreparable mutations that lessen our humanity.
Like earlier anti-television campaigns, within contemporary “digital detox” movements the toxicity of screen time and the detoxifying benefits of the offline are conceived in terms of both moral and physical health. Theodora Sutton — whose research looks at “Camp Grounded,” a digital detox retreat that takes place in the Mendocino forest — has written about the way such retreats invoke a parallel between technology and food.
“Consuming” digital content becomes equivalent to other forms of addictive, harmful consumption (alcohol, junk food) while the face-to-face encounters that take place in the “offline” are compared to a nutritious snack.
Before the internet, escaping to the wilderness was touted for the health benefits of clean air, clean water, an absence of chemicals and smog — qualities that, in restoring the body, would supposedly also restore the soul to its purest state. Now, the abstract category of technology — metonymically represented by the more tangible substances of screen light and digital noise — is frequently added to the list of bodily harms to which wilderness offers a remedy. This sets up the assumption that a healthy relationship with the digital (short of total disconnect) looks like retreat and re-immersion, or detox and retox; a pattern that has its origins in the idea of wilderness."

“Poltergeists, ghosts, spirits—they are our secret fears and unfulfilled dreams, each the echo of one who died. They are the audience for our secret pains and guilty pleasures.”
BASIC.
name: amara sutton
age: (endlessly) thirty
zodiac: aries
pronouns: she / her
sexuality: pansexual
occupation: bartender at filthy fenrir
faceclaim: phoebe tonkin
HISTORY.
amara sutton would have led a normal life had she not suffered her fate. she grew up in a fairly typical nuclear family. her father was a businessman and her mother was a housewife. while they never coddled her, she wasn't entirely left on her own. amara was taught the principles on how to be a kind person, how to be independent, and most of what she needed to survive, really. it wasn't too heartbreaking to lose them both in a fire by the time she was thirteen but had she known her destiny afterwards, she would have mourned more.
unbeknownst to her, amara had an uncle and he became her newly appointed guardian. he was a rather strange man, however -- always talking about the things that go bump in the night. he talked of monsters as if they were real and of the darkness that liked to feed. amara never saw what he did. maybe if she had, she'd be more prepared for when it engulfed her.
moving out was unceremonious save for the fact that her uncle warned her constantly to be careful. not really heeding his warning, she started living her life -- a normal one in which she focused on making something out of herself so that she would no longer need to rely on anyone else. she worked late nights as a waitress or a bartender and early mornings as a barista just to get herself through college and then post-grad when she finally obtained her undergraduate degree. she didn’t have much time to socialize but she’s made quite a few friends she was able to hold dear. the one that actually stuck around was liam. and through liam she met him.
he was liam’s room mate and he was the most interesting person amara’s ever met. even if he kept most of his past a secret, he was charming enough to seem intriguing. it wasn’t a surprise that she fell hard; fast; willing. their love flourished and as quickly as it burned, it soon turned into a raging inferno the moment eloise came into their lives. it was perfect. they were supposed to be happy. but one day he just left. no explanation. no reason. just gone.
liam stepped up because he’s just that type of person and amara adored him all the more for it. he definitely was the best friend she’s ever had. they were to be wed because they wanted eloise to grow up in a loving family but before they could start on their happily ever after, amara’s life was taken.
she still doesn’t know how or what happened but she knew it was a mistake. she couldn’t have died. she still had to raise her daughter. she still had to make liam her husband. it was all wrong. for a couple of years she stayed in the home she was supposed to move into with liam, a specter in limbo: one foot on either world. amara scared away anyone who tried to occupy the space since her fiance obviously didn’t want to use it anymore. those that told ghost stories dubbed her the forgotten bride.
once liam moved, she wanted to follow, but she’s anchored to this place. besides, eloise is here and she’d rather be where she is. amara found the midnight underground (or more like, it found her) and made it her home. her goal is to reverse this curse she’s put under, to right the wrongs and finally get her life back on track.
HEADCANON.
she was once featured in an amateur ghost hunting youtube video. she made the flashlight turn on and off for funsies.
amara is prone to her rage mainly because she’s in deep, deep denial.
DYNAMICS.
Chloe Li : her best customer but, really, more than that. despite amara’s better judgment, she’s formed a bond with her. not just because alcohol lets loose lips flow, but because chloe actually listened to her when amara felt like her voice couldn’t ever be heard again.
Colden Ó Braonáin : he’s so fucking annoying, he makes amara wants to tear him apart limb from limb but she would sooner cut hers off first before letting anyone else harm him. they’re the cool kids in the back of the bus listening to my chemical romance with the neon pink earbuds.
Connor Talbot : one of the reasons why amara hasn’t entirely lost it. the bridge between eloise and her. the update giver, the watchful eye. the only person -- outside of karlha, obvs -- who even knows about eloise and her connection to amara. she doesn’t know what she’d do without him, honestly.
Elias Hart : when amara moved back into her old apartment, she didn’t think she’d have a roommate. but if she’s being honest with herself, she knows that she wouldn’t have picked a better one. she likes the kid, really. is even a little protective of him. but don’t tell elias. amara wouldn’t want him to think she actually cared (she does).
Eun Yeong : they make her dead heart flutter and amara hates / loves it all the same. he spoils her in the best way possible and she is so fucking grateful for it. when everything was topsy tuvy, he turned it upright and gave her a rundown on what she had / has to deal with in this new home of hers.
Karlha Whitlock : because liam wasn’t eloise’s biological father, he wasn’t able to save her from being put in the system. he worked on the paperwork, even went to court, but it was a slow moving battle. luck turned its course, though, when eloise was then placed under karlha’s care somehow. at least this way amara knows exactly where her daughter is.

Exploring the Intersection of Gaming Communities, Live Streaming, and Parasocial Relationships
As a result of both technical developments and the increasing number of people who like to play games online, the online gaming industry is thriving in today's digital world. As a people, we live in what academics call a "gameful," "ludified" civilisation, where gaming cultures are essential manifestations of our culture (Walz & Deterding 2015; Sutton-Smith 2001).
Gaming has always been social, encouraging players to meet in person and share experiences, from the first days of arcades to the emergence of local area network (LAN) parties (Newman 2012; Jansz & Jansz 2005). It seemed, though, that the social component of gaming waned as the medium shifted towards being played more alone in people's living rooms. However, a new channel opened up with the introduction of video game streaming, reigniting the communal fibre of gaming culture.
According to Ritterfeld, Cody, and Vorderer (2009), pp. 67-82, video game (VG) communities have evolved into active online gathering places where people come together for common interests and form groups voluntarily, without any official oversight. These groups go beyond the internet and combine the virtual and physical environments to form what academics call "third spaces" for socialising (Handberg 2015; Bourgonjon & Soetaert 2013). The ideas of personal connection and shared information sharing are fundamental to this dynamic and help to characterise VG communities as places where people may come together to learn and socialise (Ritterfeld, Cody & Vorderer 2009, pp. 67-82). Participants not only discover common ground but also participate in instructional activities similar to those of learning communities within these online settings.
Tumblr media
With live streaming at its core, this convergence is all about gamers broadcasting their games for others to watch and engage with in real time. By allowing streamers and watchers to form parasocial ties, this activity has brought back the social spectating aspect that is inherent to gaming. In this Tumblr post, we explore the complex dynamics of gaming communities, live streaming, and parasocial interactions. We look at how these phenomena impact gaming culture today and how they change the way people engage online. Come with me as we explore the intriguing junction of human connection, community, and technology. 🎮✨
The Emergence of Live Streaming: Gaming Communities and Interactive Media
With the massive influx of consumers to live-streamed gaming sites like Twitch in recent years, the online entertainment landscape has experienced a dramatic change. Reasons for this meteoric rise in popularity include people's insatiable need for interactive media experiences, the abundance of user-generated material, and technological developments (Sjblom & Hamari 2017). Twitch and similar services have had meteoric rises in popularity, with the number of users tripling annually and reaching over 100 million monthly. As of 2023 (according to Advanced Television), Twitch had a staggering 74% market share, demonstrating its continued dominance in the global streaming audience, even though the number of streamers has fluctuated.
The live broadcasting aspect of video game streaming facilitates a unique relationship between content providers and consumers, which is at the core of this phenomenon. In contrast to conventional modes of media consumption, live streaming provides a dynamic exchange platform wherein the conventional viewer assumes the responsibility of generating content while engaging in extensive dialogue (Cha et al. 2007).
Platforms such as Twitch, Mixer, and Afreeca TV have made live streaming more accessible, enabling users to share events and interactions in real time with audiences all over the world. There has been a meteoric rise in the number of people watching streamers, especially those who play video games live and engage with their viewers (Ferchaud et al. 2018).
Tumblr media
The combination of high-fidelity audiovisual information delivery with low-fidelity text-based conversation is what makes live streaming so unique; it's a dynamic and engaging experience for everyone involved (Hamilton, Garretson & Kerne 2014). Live streaming, which was once only available for game content, is now a staple of contemporary gaming culture and has grown to include many other types of broadcasting (Li et al. 2018). Live streaming services, such as Twitch, encourage participation in communities where users share interests, learn from one another, and build relationships—a phenomenon that has led some to call these spaces virtual third places. A sense of authenticity and closeness is enhanced for numerous individuals through live broadcasting, which provides access to the unaltered lives of streamers (Tang, Venolia & Inkpen 2016).
Younger age groups, specifically, incorporate live streaming into their everyday schedules as a method of connecting with acquaintances and engaging in social interactions (Lottridge et al. 2017). People watch live streams for a variety of reasons, including enjoyment, socialising, learning new things, and satisfying social needs (Hilvert-Bruce et al. 2018).
The importance of parasocial relationships in livestream enjoyment is highlighted by Wulf, Schneider, and Beckert (2018). Elements like the anticipation of game results and participation in the chat function contribute to this satisfaction. As the analysis of parasocial relationships in live streaming progresses, the complex interaction between content creators and their audience becomes more apparent, significantly influencing the framework of online entertainment.
Tumblr media
The Role of Parasocial Relationships in Live Streaming
One reason live streaming is so popular is that viewers have an inherent desire to learn new strategies for playing games by watching the shows and listening to the host's commentary. Conversely, individuals who watch televised sports and entertainment programmes have "an inherent desire to establish interpersonal relationships" (Hoffner & Buchanan 2009).
According to Dibble, Hartmann, and Rosaen (2015), a parasocial relationship (PSR) is an intimate and one-sided bond that develops between a media personality or celebrity and their audience as a result of their frequent interactions in mediated reality. The potential for audiences and media personalities to engage in parasocial interactions (PSI) is enhanced through the interactivity provided by online environments, which is facilitated by functional properties (Labrecque 2014).
Tumblr media
Reinforcing PSR can also be achieved through cultivating mutual awareness. When a game streamer recognises and/or mentions viewers during broadcasting, it may increase the perceived mutual awareness, in contrast to passive entertainment consumption. The ability to converse with viewers in real-time gives live-streamers like YouTubers and others a leg up when compared to more conventional celebrities (Hou 2019). Therefore, compared to other forms of digital media, watching live-streamed games is more conducive to the development of PSR (Lim et al. 2020).
The Intersection of Digital Citizenship, Live Streaming, and Parasocial Relationships
Having fluidly moved on from the topic of parasocial relationships and game live streaming, we now explore the fascinating confluence of digital citizenship, live streaming, and parasocial relationships. This fusion effectively illustrates the manner in which digital platforms reshape our emotional experiences and redefine our social landscapes. Within the domains of online gaming groups and live-streaming platforms, there exists an intriguing concoction of virtual relationships and human emotions.
A fascinating focal point in the dynamic realm of digital citizenship is the phenomena of live streaming and the complex interplay it has with parasocial relationships. The multidimensional nature of gaming communities is shown by the fact that games can be enjoyed both actively and passively, as explained by Sjblom and Hamari (2017). Live streaming systems such as Twitch also adhere to this principle, allowing viewers to establish relationships with their favourite streamers even though the interaction is inherently biased.
Gong et al. (2019) emphasised that people traverse complicated social dynamics within these digital environments, developing tiny friendship groups and affiliating with virtual communities. A fundamental human need for association and camaraderie drives the desire for socialisation and group-referent behaviours (Tsai & Bagozzi 2014). People feel more connected to themselves and their communities when they spend more time there, and the social and informational factors they encounter there only serve to strengthen that feeling (Dholakia, Bagozzi & Pearo 2004).
In the following figure, we can see how users, small friendship groups, and virtual communities are connected:
Tumblr media
The rise of live-streaming platforms has intensified parasocial ties, in which viewers create close bonds with streamers and frequently feel affection and camaraderie towards them (Bagozzi & Dholakia 2002). Even if they take place in a virtual setting, these connections still satisfy a basic human desire for social connection. Nevertheless, a darker subtext can be observed in the digital realm, as highlighted by the YouTuber "Glink": an all-encompassing feeling of isolation. Paradoxically, people are becoming even more isolated as they seek refuge in the fleeting connections provided by live streaming platforms, despite the internet's once-heralded role as a means of escaping reality.
youtube
Conclusion
There are a lot of moving parts in this complex web of parasocial relationships, online citizenship, and live streaming. In light of our exploration of the internet, it is crucial to approach the consequences of our online engagements with a discerning eye, bearing in mind the precarious equilibrium that exists between interconnectedness and seclusion. At the end of the day, we can all benefit from healthier, more fulfilling online communities—not just gaming communities—by learning about and encouraging meaningful digital citizenship behaviours.

The Doctors Criticize Annemarie!
Tumblr media
It’s fair to say that Annemarie Wiley isn’t exactly the breakout star of the season. She wasn’t in this week’s episode, thank goodness.
But it turns out that the damage she has caused in just three episodes has been enough for the other medical housewives to give their opinions.
The way Annemarie interrogated Sutton Stracke at her event was so uncomfortable to watch.
She abused her medical knowledge to embarrass Sutton.
That was a giant red flag to me. And the other medical housewives have reacted to the scene as well.
Annemarie was questioning Sutton about her issues with her esophagus after Kyle Richards insinuated that she has an eating disorder.
And the only reason Annemarie chose to quiz Sutton about her esophagus was because she wanted to embarrass her.
There’s no other agenda for her interrogation.
And Dr. Tiffany Moon from RHOD took to social media to support Sutton:
“The whole scene was kind of cringey to me. I don’t know what made her go at Sutton so hard, especially when it was her party. I found that to be incredibly rude but, yeah, let’s not weaponize our medical knowledge to come at people, especially when you’re wrong.”
“Especially when you’re wrong.” But Annemarie was weaponizing her medical knowledge to embarrass other publicly.
But she also seems like the person who likes to talk a lot and claim that she’s right even if the world tells her that she’s wrong.
Dr. Nicole Martin from RHOM also gave her opinion on Annemarie’s poor behaviour too.
“It does not matter where you fall on the spectrum — all the way from being a tech to being a doctor. You joined the profession to be an advocate for patients, and as such, it is not our place to belittle, question or demean a patient’s symptoms or diagnosis.”
Annemarie tried to spread doubt about Sutton’s condition and was making comments about her mixing alcohol with her medicine too.
Was Annemarie set up by Kyle to go after Sutton’s health issues? A little bit.
But Annemarie, as a nurse, should know better. It was unethical.

Chapter 2: The Covenant Model | Gary North -- Specific Answers
Sutton presented the covenant model in this form:
1. God (transcendent, yet immanent)
2. Hierarchy
3. Ethics
4. Sanctions
5. Continuity
A reader recommended this restructuring:
1. Transcendence/presence
2. Hierarchy
3. Ethics
4. Oath
5. Succession
The acronym is THEOS, the Greek word for God.
In my 1980 book, Unconditional Surrender: God’s Program for Victory, I instinctively adopted the first three: God, man, and law. In the third edition, published in 1988, I added time. In the 2010 edition, I completed it by adding sanctions. I hope that this is the final edition. Here are the five inescapable components of covenant theology.
1. God
2. Man
3. Law
4. Sanctions
5. Time
This structure is visible in the structure of the Pentateuch.
1. Genesis (origins)
2. Exodus (authority)
3. Leviticus (law)
4. Numbers (sanctions)
5. Deuteronomy (inheritance)
I put all this into one short (for me) book: God’s Covenants (2014). [http://bit.ly/5covs] I also discussed the five covenants in history: dominion, individual, family, church, and state. This laid the foundation for my identification of the five inescapable factors in all social theory.
1. Sovereignty
2. Authority
3. Law
4. Sanctions
5. Succession
B. Economics: Five Points Times Four
I begin with God. Here are the theocentric judicial principles of economics in 15 words.
Judicial (theocentric)
1. God owns everything.
2. God delegates ownership.
3. God prohibits theft.
4. God evaluates performance.
5. God mandates growth.
God designates men as His trustees. As trustees, they are authorized to act in God’s name as judicial representatives. Here are the rules of trusteeship in 15 words.
Judicial (representative)
1. Owners are trustees.
2. Trustees possess authority.
3. Trusts are binding.
4. Trustees are accountable.
5. Trustees designate successors.
There are also economic aspects of delegated ownership. God requires men to act as stewards. These are responsibilities of property management. Men must act on God’s behalf. They must put His interests above their own. The laws governing men’s stewardship are structurally the same as God’s laws of ownership, but suitable for creatures. Here are the rules of stewardship in 15 words.
Stewardship Laws
1. Purpose precedes planning.
2. Priorities structure planning.
3. Ownership involves exclusion.
4. Owners evaluate performance.
5. Owners designate heirs.
Trusteeship has two aspects: judicial and economic. The judicial aspect is a matter of guardianship. The economic aspect is stewardship. This distinction goes back to God’s designation of Adam as His trustee over the creation. The garden was Adam’s testing place. God told Adam to dress the garden and keep it (Genesis 2:15). [North, Genesis, ch. 9] Stewardship was economic. Guardianship was legal. Stewardship involved increasing the value of the property. This is the meaning of “dress.” Guardianship involved defending God’s property from unlawful invasion. This is the meaning of “keep.” Other translations translate “keep” as “work.” Stewardship is trusteeship on behalf of. Guardianship is trusteeship in the name of. Both responsibilities are aspects of ownership: God’s original ownership and man’s delegated ownership.
Ownership is an inescapable concept. It is never a question of hierarchical ownership vs. no hierarchical ownership. It is always a question of who is the supreme owner. This structure of ownership leads to laws of economics. These laws are not autonomous. They are the results of God’s covenantal ownership. These laws govern the structure of production. Here are these laws in 15 words.
Economic Laws
1. Owners adopt purposes.
2. Prices provide information.
3. People prefer more.
4. Scarcity imposes costs.
5. Growth reduces scarcity.
