benoit blanc gets hired to solve an ongoing lover's quarrel that's turned deadly. he quickly deduces that the killer is the husband's girlfriend, but then, as they're wrapping up, another murder occurs. the girlfriend's girlfriend is killed, and there are no immediately obvious first suspects. but slowly all clues start to point towards the original murderers husband as the killer! as he's being led to the cop car, a sniper takes him out! so now benoit has to investigate that murder! it ends up coming out that his wife's girlfriend's wife took him out for revenge. but while she's in the confession room, her husband mysteriously dies! blanc investigates and learns he died by arsenic poisoning- and his boyfriend happens to work at an arsenic factory! not the most clever murder, but blanc is confused as to how it has seemingly nothing to do with the previous string of murders. he fixates on this long after the police are willing to write it off. after deep, DEEP digging he learns that the arsenic factory worker was being blackmailed by his girlfriend's girlfriend's boyfriend's husband, and had no choice but to tragically murder his boyfriend- he made it obvious on purpose because he wanted to get caught. as blanc moves in to apprehend the blackmailer, the man in questions wife is tragically murdered. benoit and the cops arrive to arrest him only to find him sobbing over her broken body, her other boyfriend holding his hand. what on earth! as they investigate they learn she had a girlfriend with an extensive criminal record- but she has a rock solid alibi and seems genuinely heartbroken. you know who doesn't though? her best friend that's in love with her and has been jealous this whole time. after MONTHS of this nonsense benoit blanc, greatest detective in the world, traces thread after thread and discovers the original murder victim hired this best friend to kill the blackmailer's wife because they were political rivals and she thought he'd be too distraught to run against her if he was grieving. her own murder was completely unrelated and lead to the rest of the strings of death, but ultimately the woman she hired to kill didn't receive notification of her death because there was so much going on and it's hard to get news circulated to you when you aren't in the polycule yourself.

"foyer fuycks sake," beniot exclaims at the end of this mess, "Ah am nevah, evah, comin' baahck tah seayattle evah a-gayn!"

I saw some people talking shit about the interview with the writer where they said the whole crew was a polycule on the basis that they did not confirm a polycule beyond a reasonable doubt. When you say shit like that I want to remind you that Jes Tom is in the writers room, and not in filming or editing. They might not get the memo on changes made later in the process and they are involved in pitching and executing ideas, they know what the characters would do better than anyone except maybe David Jenkins because they decide what the characters do.

So if a writer is saying "we want there to be an all encompassing polycule" and an actor (Vico Ortiz) is saying "we filmed a scene where three characters implied to be in a relationship were quickly putting on their clothes after having sex" but we the audience didn't get to see either of those things than maybe it's not the fault of the writer's room that we didnt get it but some other force

Like... Perhaps... The studio not wanting to show it on their network and telling the editors to take that shit out.

Basically, the point: it gets rather annoying when people knit picking looking for a reason to be a hater after Izzys death call the lack of explicit polyamory a betrayal or worse yet say that the writer is on something and dragging us along when the writer in question is literally one of us (nonbinary) and we're so clearly on the same side. The writers like us and they like the show and they want to give us the polycule and, as with most shows, it's the capitalist's fault we didn't get that. Please direct your rage in the appropriate direction. I will be treating Jim/Olu/Archie/Zheng as well as Fang/Lucius/Pete like it's canon and I will be tweeting the foursome art at the nearest HBO max exec so they get the picture. I encourage everyone to do the same.

i penciled out a polycule chart for mnmoms au last night instead of sleeping (because you know. priorities) so i decided to digitize and edit it while listening to today's episode. got a bit um. distracted from posting it XD but here it is now! a strange lil mix of hierarchical (samantha, ron, darryl, glenn) polyamory, non-hierarchical (mercedes, henry, carol) polyamory, and some guys who just happen to be there (morgan and jodie). because i do not believe in simple polycules, they do not exist.

this all happens like... a few years after the end of s1, i would say? except for the preexisting marriages, obviously, and also morgan and jodie's whole deal. that's been confusing since the trial and morgan refuses to clarify it for anyone including herself.

i think the funniest way to respond to the toh leaks would be to ignore them n not watch but to post increasingly ludicrous concepts as if you Have watched and they Are canon. unrelatedly there's an alternate future timeline sequence where a green-haired amity kisses hunter & upon seeing this current timeline!amity throws up. then the future changes and now amity is kissing willow. hunter and luz in the background are like weirdly cool with this and for a sec you as the audience think everyone's broken up in this older timeline but then older!luz cheerfully kisses willow too and amity slings an arm over both their shoulders. there is no explanation for any of this whatsoever. current!amity and current!luz are both like Weirdly okay with everything. while current!hunter and current!willow are both the embodiment of the 😳 emoji.
