Oh, hey! I have a worse Echo base theory!!

Mild spoilers/speculation ahead but nothing that wasn't in the first trailer.

So Fireball was revealed in the first trailer for S3, shooting at something/someone.

My nasty brain presented this:

What if the Clone HQ on Coruscant gets raided. What if Riyo Chuchi is there?

What if she gets shot at and Echo dives in front of her to take the shot. What if he dies in her arms, a heroes death, and they have to evacuate the rebellion to somewhere remote.

What if that place is Hoth, and she demands it is named Echo Base in memory of his sacrifice?

I’m so nervous for the finale, but I’m also trying to be hopeful due to them saying somewhere that the ending would be bittersweet. I’m not sure what will happen, but I’m hoping at least it isn’t complete and utter tragedy (though if anything happens to Crosshair I will NOT be okay because he’s my special guy whose character arc especially in season 3 helped me get through SO MUCH and why is it that redeemed characters always have to die like LET THEM LIVE?)

If it really isn't Crosshair in Crosshair's armor in the trailer, my best guess would be that it's Tech. He's the only other clone who is tall and thin enough to fit that armor.

But if it ISN'T Tech, what if it's Cody? I was honestly surprised to see Crosshair's armor in the trailer, because this entire time I'd been under the impression that it got left behind in that hangar on Kamino. When, during that shootout, did they have time to haul a locker of his stuff onto the ship? But if it did stay with the Empire, Cody or someone who was still there, could have stolen it.

I dunno, I'm throwing things at the wall at this point. 😂

But wouldn't it be a little poetic, since Cody was basically Crosshair's only friend from outside his batch?

So, THAT Clone X trooper...

is 100% definitely, undoubtedly Tech, yeah?

I mean, physically/literally:

His accent is different under the voice modulation

I stg those pained grunts as he lifted the stones were pure Tech

He runs in Creature Posture

The pocketses

He still doesn't give a fuck about following orders

But also narratively:

The lingering closeups whenever he's about to act in regard to the Batch. Is it consideration? Hesitation? They sure want us to wonder.

The story's repeated emphasis on Crosshair being able to anticipate his moves, and the way they match each other beat for beat the whole way down.

The fucking intimacy of the way he almost kills Crosshair. I mean the whole physicality of the fight, but especially the way Clone X had to stare into his eyes while he drowned him.

Why, as a writer, would you waste those story beats on someone who had no personal significance to the Batch? You just wouldn't.

I Apologize in Advance:

They are literally framing these CX-2 scenes the same as Tech scenes from Season 2. Either someone doesn't have a whole lot of imagination (hard to believe with the awesome creation team), someone is purposely tricktrolling us (rude!), or they're the same person - Tech. There was also the limping on Serenno and falling down the waterfall, surviving, and then climbing on the shore in the ipsium cave among others. It's almost like Tech has to relive his life, and death, to be reborn. But why? 😭

My heart broke for Crosshair when his hands were shaking with the blaster because you just know that affects his aim. Being a marksman is a huge part of him and he must now feel that's gone too and I just know we're going to see that shaking again when he has his rifle back 🥺
