Final Form/Perfect Cell x Reader
Word Count: 4,277
cw: slight noncon, rough sex, blood, creampie, cum eating, face fucking
AO3 Version | Masterlist
Summary: AU where reader finds Cell’s egg in the woods and he’s just an alien instead of an android. (AKA my idea for Cell if he used a particular human as a surrogate ‘mother’ instead of eating people to reach his other forms). Meant to be scary/creepy so heed the tags for stuff you’re not comfy with but it is Cell after all so I hope I do it justice :D (chapters are in the same order as Cell’s forms.)

  Four Months Later
You had remained on the edge for the last week of the month following Cell's visit  expecting him to reappear like clockwork and have his way with you again. It was something that left you in a state of horrible anticipation and dread. You'd only realized how much you'd wanted to see him again when he didn't show up. Not even when the next month was halfway over or the month after that did he make his appearance. The whole experience had faded into a repressed area of your brain while life went on and the rest of humanity had no idea that some alien fucking monster had used you as a vending machine.
You had considered telling someone a few times about the encounters with Cell but you had no real evidence that any of it had ever occurred. You would just end up being sent away to a shrink for evaluation which was the last thing you needed. You had certainly learned your lesson on defying Cell's orders to stay put and wait for him so that's just what you did.
Your daily life had turned into a slow pull of the band aid when all you wanted was to tear it off and get it over with.
You twirled a strand of your hair not understanding the letters on the screen of your pc. A single paragraph was all you had written and the deadline was tomorrow morning.
Thank God it was Friday.
"Fucking hell," you muttered trying to rub the tiredness out of your eyes.
To hell with this, you thought, I'm going on a picnic this weekend.
With that in mind you let out a heavy sigh and resumed typing.
Almost half a year later and you were back where it all started. Your most peaceful spot next to the lake with your snacks unpacked on the blanket next to you. You stared out across the water letting your eyes unfocus and mind go blank feeling yourself relax almost completely for the first time in recent memory. Just for these next two days your weekend would be only for you.
Or so you thought.
You couldn't stop your eyes from wandering to the spot where Cell's egg had appeared and you were beginning to get the unnerving feeling that you were being watched just like back then. You could feel something that you couldn't put into words exactly. Like a pressure at the edges of your mind or a flicker of movement that was just outside your peripheral vision. It was energy radiating like a small sun that signified there was another in the woods with you.
You had the same feeling occasionally from your coworkers and people you passed on the sidewalk or at the grocery. It was as if you could feel people's auras even before you knew they were near although you had no idea if that was the right term for whatever it was. It was a lingering side effect of Cell's venom that, as far as you knew, was permanent this time.
You let out a shuddering breath you didn't know you'd been holding allowing your eyes to drift shut.
"How nice if you to come to me this time."
It isn't surprising to you, you're long past that, when you open your eyes to find Cell standing a few yards away. He was something far beyond what you could have ever imagined compared to that first night when he'd been born in your kitchen. Sculpted as if he were an ethereal forest spirit, maybe he was you had no idea, his features were entirely human now. It was a disturbing contrast to the rest of him which remained similar to that of an insect right down to his wings reappearing.
"What do you want?" you asked softly.
"A little late to be asking that isn't it?"
"Sorry I was a little busy the last few times I saw you."
He snorted, "And if I said I intended to reduce your little world to atoms just because I can? That you had eagerly helped me to attain the power to achieve such a thing, what then? Hm? Could you handle the responsibility of damning your entire race to oblivion in your final moments?"
You narrowed your eyes, "I don't believe you."
"Is that so?" Cell took a step closer, "Then what do you think I want?"
"I-I don't know. I don't even know what you are."
"I'm an amalgamation of different races passed on through previous generations determined by what type of surrogate they chose to complete their metamorphosis. In short, I'm an alien," he drawled out the last part at your blank expression.
"How did you get here? On earth I mean? You have to start from somewhere, right? You were an egg when I found you."
"Are you asking me how babies are made?" Cell's smile was pure evil as he intentionally ignored the rest of your question.
The questions kept pouring out of you like a flood afraid that at any moment Cell's accommodating mood would shift. Yet, he answered them all without anything worse than the occasional sarcastic remark. Cell didn't know how he'd ended up on earth but he believed that he'd been in stasis for a long time before you had discovered him. Possibly decades if not centuries buried in the soil only surfacing once his genetic match was born and matured enough for him to 'harvest' as he put it.
Cell explained that nearly every living thing gave off something called 'Ki' and that he had sensed yours one day around the time he had gained awareness. You hadn't believed him when he'd told you that he had only ended up in the forest entirely by chance where you liked to have your picnics but since he was being so open about everything else there was no reason for him to lie. It was a strange mixture of fate and his own biology that had brought you together on that day and it left your mind reeling.
It seemed that he also gained the knowledge of his surrogate race and that was why he had such a comprehensive understanding of your language and culture. That extended to your memories because Cell wasted no expense in teasing you about how many times you'd thought about him fucking you in the absence between his first and second forms during that part of his explanation.
"So this is your final form? You don't need to.. do that anymore," your face must have been dark red.
"Why? Could it be that you're disappointed?"
By then the sun was setting, it's oranges and pinks reflecting within Cell's eyes making him appear even more demonic, a single sharp canine poking out from his curled lip.
You hesitated a little too long without answering and the alien cackled at your expense, "You are. Fret not, little human. I still have a purpose for you. I did mean what I said before. About fucking you that is. I want to test out this form to it's full extent. I'm having many interesting new urges that I don't fully understand."
"You are?"
You gulped.
"I dreamed of you often while I was beneath the earth," Cell was close enough that you were looking up to meet his eyes while he spoke, "Before you were merely a means to an end but now I find you to be quite distracting as you take up a great deal of my thoughts. Even now just the scent of your skin is making me restless."
Cell lowered himself to one knee on the blanket resting his arm across it in a way that reminded you of a prince kneeling before his princess right before he confesses his love to her. This was certainly a fucked up fairy tale you'd landed yourself in.
He's so handsome it isn't fair.
You wanted to touch him, rest your fingers along his jaw, and run your thumb over his plush lower lip. Instead you bit the inside if your cheek trying to hold onto your reason left paralyzed by your indecision to fight back or give in. You didn't protest when he reached for a strand of your hair that had fallen loose from it's ponytail taking it between his fingers. Vulnerable wasn't the right word for the way Cell was behaving. Nothing about him was vulnerable from his tall muscular form to his cold eyes that would always make you feel like prey. It was the way that he was too human in his mannerisms, it felt wrong somehow, like a doppelganger mimicking unfamiliar behavior.
Cell was never gentle with you before, he didn't give a shit about your limitations, and had just openly admitted you were a means to an end, so it should have been easy to hate him. It was also easy for you to close the distance and press your lips to his just to remind yourself of what he was. The last kiss you'd shared was a vulgar imitation of his tongue violating you with no interest in your enjoyment; a mockery of your own weakness towards him.
So why then, when you timidly pressed the tip of your tongue against the unyielding seam of Cell's lips, did he allow you access as naturally as any lover you'd had before. He didn't grab you and force himself on you this time, instead, slowly deepened the kiss to the point that if you'd been standing, your knees would be weak. When you pulled away breathlessly he didn't try to stop you remaining motionless as a statue.
"Why?" you whispered.
Why won't you fuck me, use me, and leave me alone already?
"Do you still not understand?" Cell asked, "You're a match for me just as much as I am to you. That is the nature of the bond we share, girl. Whatever I am now is what you desire in a mate. My Perfect form is decided by your predispositions just as much as my lineage to ensure that my species will continue."
Your eyes widened as his words sank in.
"You want this too. There's no point in playing coy. It's obvious from your accelerated heart rate and how much you're leaking between your legs. You find me attractive, yes, but it excites you that we're alone and I could do anything I wanted to you. Whether you want me to or not."
It was appalling just how right he was.
The bond you shared with Cell was a violation that you'd never asked for, the deepest parts of yourself had been exposed, entirely without your knowledge or consent. It was worse than rape. It was unfathomable to imagine and it made you dizzy at the implications that he was practically grown for you. Because of you. This thing knew more about you than any human ever possibly could.
"Is that it then," you said, your lower lip trembling dangerously, bordering on hysterics, "I'm just some fucking alien incubator from now on? I quit my job and stay at home laying eggs for the rest of my life?"
"No. You would have a normal pregnancy for the first stage and then the child would develop a chrysalis after some time had passed. It would go through the same process as I did and not become aware unless it's genetic match were alive at the end of it's development."
That was a relief to hear when all your mind's eye could conjure up involved wriggling larvae covered in slime and it made you feel ill. Not that the idea of inflicting what you'd gone through on someone else was anymore appealing. You were responsible for furthering a race of parasites.
"What do I tell the people I work with.. oh fuck, my mom."
You could imagine the horrified expression she would give you if you turned up with a fat belly and no father in sight.
"I should also mention that the child will be quite small and would be barely noticeable if that's your concern. There could be a slight weight gain but nothing to draw attention. This wouldn't be ideal for me either. If too many people started asking questions I would be forced to act."
"Forced to..? What are you saying?"
"I would kill them, naturally."
You gasped in shock, "What the fuck."
Cell gave you the most simultaneously handsome yet evil smile, "That's enough talking. I've waited long enough to have you, y/n."
The sudden use of your actual name for the first time caught you off guard enough that cell easily had you pinned beneath him on the blanket with a single fluid movement. He was still smiling when you met his eyes nervously, "I thought you were letting me decide."
"I changed my mind."
Your complaint turned into a whine from Cell's suggestive grind against your clothed groin, the protective chitin there borderline painful, but you couldn't control your breathing after a few more movements like that against your increasingly soaked core.
"Fuck, Cell.."
"Hmm?"
You hated how composed he was. Outwardly unaffected while you were left squirming and on the verge of a heart attack.
 Does he ever fucking blink?
You don't see, but rather feel it happen, when Cell opens up between your legs and something big and heavy slaps against you. The most impressively terrifying organ had revealed itself from within Cell's body and you can't stop yourself from staring. With it's many ridges and bumps it was enough to make even the most seasoned Bad Dragon employee blush.
Cell let out a low rumbling chuckle at your approval, "See? You want this too," he gripped your pants and underwear in one hand dragging them down slowly, while keeping both of your wrists pinned above your head, "Even knowing what it means for you, you're already this wet for me, wanting me to fill you with my offspring."
"No," you said, the end of the word trailing into a moan when Cell's fingers circled your clit slipping lower and collecting your wetness before bringing them up close to your face.
"What's this?" he accused, as if you were a disobedient dog that had pissed on the carpet and he'd caught you in the act. Your eyes had barely focused on the transparent strands before he shoved those fingers into your mouth. You tasted clean and salty as he rolled the digits across your tongue in an unspoken demand for you to suck. So you did, not having much choice, not stopping until there was nothing left and his fingers were thoroughly coated in your saliva.
Cell immediately slid them all the way inside your swollen folds, circling and stroking against your most sensitive spot, preparing you for his cock. Satisfied that you wouldn't try to escape he let go of your wrists and dragged up your shirt, your nipples pebbling in the chilly night air, bringing a hungry look to Cell's unrelenting gaze at the sight of your exposed breasts.
You couldn't control how your body clenched around him remembering how you'd felt during his feedings, and his motions inside you grew rougher, forcing your tightening muscles apart. You mewled and bucked your hips against his hand trying to reach your climax faster only for Cell to pull out of you altogether. You practically sobbed from being left empty when you were so close but your disappointment was short lived.
Cell took his cock in hand lining up the sharply flared head with your entrance and your legs spread apart automatically just needing him inside you.
There was no wait or letting you adjust, just every ridge and bump splitting you apart all at once with a single press of his hips, turning everything inside your head white. Your orgasm was immediate from the sheer size of him and the over-abundance of texture stimulating every inch of your walls to the point of pain. Your mouth was open but no sound came out as your body violently fluttered and tensed.
Cell didn't allow you to recover, already starting to move, and it took every ounce of your willpower just to tolerate it.
Your mind was numb to everything but the feeling of Cell's cock brutally fucking into you, thinking back to the times before they were nothing compared to this. If you could think which was proving to be impossible aside from desperate pleas for Cell to fuck you harder, more, yes, yes, yes.
"Tell me you want me to breed you," Cell's grip was on your chin forcing you to meet his intense glare.
"Yes, fuck, I'm going to come again, please. Don't stop."
"Say it," he hissed bringing his thrusts down to short unsatisfying stabs that reminded you beneath the pleasure you were actually really sore already.
"Please, Cell, come inside me. I want you t-to breed me."
You screamed when he grabbed your legs and pulled you all the way down onto his length before filling your cunt to the brim with his release. It left a milky ring tinged with pink around the base of his cock that inspired him to violently use your limp body a second time, spurred on by animalistic instincts, flooding your insides to the point of it leaking down your ass and all over the blanket.
Cell stayed inside you for several seconds trapping his come to ensure the highest chances of putting a baby in you before he pulled out, still hard, and lifted your head up by the hair. The pain was already starting to set in and it made you feel sick to your stomach from the deep rooted throbbing low in your abdomen. Cell's cock bobbed in front of your face and you didn't even think about it, just set to work licking his come, cleaning him thoroughly while barely registering the metallic under-taste.
"Open," he ordered you, aroused by the sight of your little pink tongue working so diligently, he wanted to have your mouth next.
You thought your jaw would dislocate when he forced the head past your teeth while you struggled to sheathe them behind your lips. You hated to think what might happen if you accidentally bit him but he didn't seem to care. Not when your teeth scraped him or when your throat constricted trying to force him out. He just rocked his hips continuing to open you up to him until drool was hanging in thick strands from your chin and splattering your breasts.
Each time you gagged you felt more of Cell's come being forced out from below and it made you feel dirtier. You were handling him as best you could until he pushed in harder than before blocking off your throat and your air. You began to panic finding no mercy in Cell's face when you begged him with your tear soaked eyes to let you breathe. It was then that he came again inside your throat, leaving you no choice but to swallow it all or suffocate, feeling some of it come out of your nose.
It was idiotic to think that he would be gentle with you this time as you shoved back off of his hips coughing and choking on the remnants of his come.
You shot Cell an annoyed glare made ineffective by the come dribbling out of your nose and you angrily wiped it away.
"What's with that look?" he drawled, amused, "This is what you want. Anything I do to you is entirely your fault. You're quite perverse for someone so outwardly average I have to say."
 Asshole.
Why did he always have to be right?
                                                             ⛧
It's been almost one year since that day in the woods and true to his word, despite being very near to giving birth, there are barely any signs that you're pregnant. You told yourself that you wouldn't become attached, this wasn't a situation of your choosing after all, you were just giving Cell what he wanted so he wouldn't eat your head or something.
You hadn't already thought of a name if it was a girl (or boy). You hadn't developed the recent habit of talking to your stomach in a ridiculous voice throughout the day when you were alone about whatever you were doing at the time. And most importantly you didn't find yourself drifting through the maternity section when you went to the market looking at baby clothes and furniture with a sickening longing.
"Do you think we should have potatoes or beets with dinner, tonight? I think both would be good, don't you?" you started to dig for the peeler in the drawer, "Dam-, I mean, dang it. Where is this thing. I swear I see it everywhere when I don't actually need it.."
"What are you doing?"
You screeched grabbing a wooden spoon and turning with it raised in front of you only to find Cell in the middle of your kitchen, arms crossed, giving you The Look. The one he always gave when he wasn't impressed with something you'd done which was pretty much most of the time. Since getting pregnant Cell had developed the annoying habit of appearing inside your house randomly.
"Jesus Chr-," you coughed, "I told you to stop doing that."
"You did," he said, not moving or caring.
It was strange to think that you were practically used to having Cell around by now, not at all unnerved with him being this close to you, as you put the spoon away and returned to preparing dinner.
"How are you feeling?" he asked eventually, "Any pain?"
"No. I'm fine just like yesterday and the day before. You know I can tell that you're close by right? I can sense your Ki or whatever you call it. If something goes wrong you'll know."
Cell hummed noncommittally, studying you without your knowing, gauging how close you were to giving birth. Judging from the activity of the baby he would assume another day at most.
"You know if you're just going to stand there the least you could do is help out," you turned finding that Cell had already disappeared leaving you to scowl at the empty space on the tile, "Of course, now, you leave."
What does he even do when he isn't here anyway.
You felt a light flutter in your lower abdomen as the baby moved inside you as if it were agreeing and you smiled fondly resting a hand over it.
After dinner you followed the usual routine, shower, brush your teeth, and then stay up for at least an hour later than you should reading a story off of your phone out loud. You could tell that it liked when you did this, it always moved alot during the interesting parts, showing that it was listening. You wondered if Cell's mother was like this and why he'd ended up in the forest on earth as you drifted off to sleep.
You awoke before the sun was up upon hearing a strange noise, flipping on the bedroom lamp expecting Cell, instead discovering a tiny creature curled into the blankets next to you.
You stared.
And stared.
 Oh my God.
When it's eyelids fluttered and it looked at you for the first time with familiar pale pink eyes you knew.
"Hi," you whispered lightly touching one of it's chubby hands barely bigger than one of your fingers. It was a girl with much softer features than Cell, although she had the same chitinous body, she was mostly humanoid with a skin tone that matched your own. At the sound of your voice she gave you the most adorable smile, grasping at your fingertip, and your heart melted. Your daughter was the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen and just for those precious moments you forgot about aliens and all the weird shit you'd gone through in the past year and a half.
You only had three days as it turned out until the baby's transformation began and on the morning when you went to check on her finding that familiar purple chrysalis in her place you locked yourself in the bathroom and cried for an hour.
Through all of this Cell didn't appear until you returned to the tree in the woods with a shovel in hand starting to dig in the same spot where you'd found his own chrysalis. You tried not to cry in front of him and failed miserably while you flung dirt a little harder than necessary in his direction. He said nothing to mock you as you buried your child in the earth, cheeks wet, and heart aching as if some deep rooted part of yourself had been torn out instead.
"Three years," Cell said, as you passed him heading back to your car, wordlessly.
"What?"
"It takes three years for the first stage of development to complete. If the surrogate is here and viable you may see her again in three years."
"Really?" you sounded pitiful, broken.
Cell was gone when you turned leaving nothing but the freshly disturbed soil and the sounds of the ducks on the water behind. Truthfully, you didn't want to see his face right now, he was the one who had inflicted this pain on you. You needed something to blame for what you were feeling and he understood this too. Of course he did.
 Always fucking right.
If it was three years you could wait.
You softly whispered her name and said your goodbye before getting back into your car and leaving the forest.

I. New Characters
5-Star Character "Physic of Purity" Nahida (Dendro)
◇ Gnosis: Dendro
◇ Weapon: Catalyst
◇ A caged bird secluded within the confines of the Sanctuary of Surasthana who can only see the world in her dreams.
◆ Elemental Skill "All Schemes to Know"
◆ When tapped, Nahida sends forth karmic bonds of wood and tree from her side, dealing AoE Dendro DMG and marking opponents hit with the Seed of Skandha. When held, she enters Aiming Mode, which will allow you to select a limited number of opponents within a limited area. When Aiming Mode ends, this skill deals Dendro DMG to these opponents and marks them with the Seed of Skandha. Opponents who have been marked by the Seed of Skandha will be linked to one another up till a certain distance. After you trigger Elemental Reactions on opponents who are marked or when they take DMG from Dendro Cores (including Burgeon and Hyperbloom DMG), Nahida will unleash Tri-Karma Purification on this opponent and all connected opponents, dealing Dendro DMG based on her ATK and Elemental Mastery.
◆ Elemental Burst "Illusory Heart"
◆ Materializes the Court of Dreams and brings forth the Shrine of Maya. The Shrine provides different effects depending on the Elemental Types of characters in the party, as follows:
• Pyro: While Nahida remains within the Shrine of Maya, the DMG dealt by Tri-Karma Purification from "All Schemes to Know" is increased.
• Electro: While Nahida remains within the Shrine of Maya, the interval between each Tri-Karma Purification from "All Schemes to Know" is decreased.
• Hydro: The Shrine of Maya's duration is increased.
If there are at least 2 party members of the aforementioned Elemental Types present when the field is deployed, the aforementioned effects will be increased further. Even if Nahida is not on the field, these bonuses will still take effect so long as party members are within the Shrine of Maya.
4-Star Character "Fantastical Evening Star" Layla (Cryo)
◇ Vision: Cryo
◇ Weapon: Sword
◇ A Rtawahist student who specializes in Theoretical Astrology. Heavily prone to somnambulism and locked in a grinding war with sleep deprivation, the problem of restful slumber is a most troubling one to her.
◆ Elemental Skill "Nights of Formal Focus"
◆ Puts forth a shield known as the Curtain of Slumber, dealing AoE Cryo DMG. The Curtain of Slumber's DMG Absorption is based on Layla's Max HP and absorbs Cryo DMG with 250% effectiveness. While the Curtain of Slumber is active, it will create 1 Night Star that will be attached to it every 1.5s. When a character protected by this shield uses an Elemental Skill, 2 Night Stars will be created. Night Stars can be created once every 0.3s in this way. A maximum of 4 Night Stars can be accumulated at any one time. Once 4 Night Stars have been accumulated and there are opponents nearby, these Night Stars will transform into homing Shooting Stars that will be fired off in sequence, dealing Cryo DMG to any opponents hit. If the Curtain of Slumber's duration ends or it is destroyed, the Night Stars will disappear. If they are already being fired off as Shooting Stars, these Shooting Stars will last until this wave of shots ends. New Night Stars cannot be created until the previous wave of Shooting Stars has been fired completely.
◆ Elemental Burst "Dream of the Star-Stream Shaker"
◆ Unleashes a Celestial Dreamsphere that constantly fires Starlight Slugs at opponents within its AoE, dealing Cryo DMG. When a Starlight Slug hits, it will generate 1 Night Star for nearby Curtains of Slumber. Each Curtain of Slumber can gain 1 Night Star this way every 0.5s.
II. New System
New Serenitea Pot System: "Replication"
In the Serenitea Pot, Travelers can generate Replicas to record the Furnishings arrangement of the corresponding area in your realm via the Replication System. Each Replica has a corresponding Replica ID. By using a shared Replica ID, other Travelers can replicate the arrangement of the corresponding Furnishings in their own Realm. If the Replica ID used contains indoor Furnishings, you can reproduce the arrangement of these Furnishings in the same mansion.
Note: To use the Replica ID, you need to unlock the corresponding Realm Layout area and have the required Furnishings. The owner of the Replica ID can choose to enable or disable the Replica sharing function at any time.
If your friend enables sharing of their Replica, you can go to their Serenitea Pot and generate a Replica to record their Realm.
◇ Unlock Criteria:
• Unlock the Serenitea Pot System and complete the World Quest "A Teapot to Call Home: Part II" to unlock the Replication System
III. New Equipment
A Thousand Floating Dreams (5-Star Catalyst)
Party members other than the equipping character will provide the equipping character with buffs based on whether their Elemental Type is the same as the latter or not.
• If their Elemental Types are the same, increase Elemental Mastery by 32.
• If not, increase the equipping character's DMG Bonus from their Elemental Type by 10%.
Each of the aforementioned effects can have up to 3 stacks. Additionally, all nearby party members other than the equipping character will have their Elemental Mastery increased by 40. Multiple such effects from multiple such weapons can stack.
◆ During the event wish "Epitome Invocation," the event-exclusive 5-star weapon A Thousand Floating Dreams (Catalyst) will receive a huge drop-rate boost!

RAPS + CRAFTS #21: Andrew Mbaruk
Tumblr media
1. Introduce yourself. Past projects? Current projects?
I’m Andrew Mbaruk, a Black poet living in Vancouver, Canada. I make "literary lo-fi rock rap," drawing from my diverse reading of poetry and classic literature for the "literary" aspect; – it’s "lo-fi" due to the imperfect sound quality, "rock" as the music predominantly features electric guitars, and "rap" because, if I had to use just one genre to categorize it, it’d be rap–I’m obviously rapping in the songs.
On one of my songs I describe my style as “assistant-professorial and janitorial”--it’s a blend of literary, academic, and philosophical elements with a touch of real-life experiences, viewed through my postmodern/modernist collage aesthetic.
Some of my recent albums are Why I Am Not a Painter (a 2023 song anthology), Black Squirrel: A Memoir (an autobiographical album through Extraordinary Rap), and Oiseau=textual: the flying rap album (centered around birds). Collaborations include Affect Theory and the Text-to-Speech Grandiloquence with Rhys Langston, Papier-Mache Chalet with Th’ Mole, Ultraviolet Flamingo with Vellum Bristol or Jouquin Fox, and Hip-Hop, With a Twist of Lemon with Mantis the Miasma.
Currently, I’m working on a series of lo-fi rock rap albums, each titled Abolish Canada. Abolish Canada [1] and Abolish Canada [2] are already available on my Bandcamp page.
2. Where do you write? Do you have a routine time you write? Do you discipline yourself, or just let the words come when they will? Do you typically write on a daily basis?
I write whenever I’m awake and in the mood, which is often at home. This could be in the middle of the night or just as frequently in the afternoon. Currently, I find myself in the writing room...surrounded by books... On my desk are three old dictionaries and a book of selected poems by Wallace Stevens, alongside an energy drink can and crumpled papers... Scattered throughout the room are various poetry books, and books on theory and philosophy, from Marx and Hegel to Frank B. Wilderson III and David Marriott... These books are mostly on a couch doubling as a larger desk, and atop an old synthesizer from the 1980s... On the floor stand an electric guitar and amp, alongside pedals and tangled cords at my feet... Two walls are giant windows, one of which is usually open even in winter (I’m often smoking). I’m undisciplined, though I still write almost daily – though there’s the occasional lapse, like these past few days...
3. What’s your medium—pen and paper, laptop, on your phone? Or do you compose a verse in your head and keep it there until it’s time to record?
During 2017-2018, I primarily used pen and paper for my writing. But, since then, I’ve transitioned to typing most of my raps on a computer. Occasionally I’ll compose a verse while walking, relying on my Android. The inconvenience of keeping verses in my head until I can write them down...that’s a problem I face during work shifts – cleaning Vancouver’s streets, e.g....and one song I crafted mentally while washing dishes at a burger bar. Using a recording medium like paper or a word processor is best though – it allows me to carefully consider connections between different parts of a verse, because I have the entire composition visible on a page or on a screen.
4. Do you write in bars, or is it more disorganized than that?
I used to have a more disorganized writing style, especially in the first few years of this rapping project... Initially, I didn't even see my work as a part of rap. It was only when I started collaborating with other rappers and producers that I began to structure my writing in bars.
While there are still moments when I write in a more formless manner, I stick to a more regular form these days, lines that last four beats. Typically, I'll create four lines that rhyme (using slant rhymes) entirely parallel to each other:
(e.g., “abnegating dactylic hexameter his vacation, a trip with dead passengers the Latin pages of literate Sapphic verse as the painting's acrylic red flags ablur”),
followed by another set of four, or maybe a couplet or two
(in this case, “as heroin mixed with the China White terror, his literary dynamite exposing the Pindaric champion; explosions, the thin shards of glass in him”),
and then another quatrain or couplet, or sometimes a set of six or eight rhyming lines, or sometimes more...and so on.
I never thought I'd become so formal or strict in my approach. I've always been inclined towards poetry that adheres to (for example) Charles Olson’s "projective verse", but surprisingly, weirdly, this structured approach is working for me now.
5. How long into writing a verse or a song do you know it’s not working out the way you had in mind? Do you trash the material forever, or do you keep the discarded material to be reworked later?
It’s different with every verse and song. Sometimes I’ll finish the entire thing and throw it out/delete it. Usually some part of the aborted material returns in a new form. I work in a "collage" style and see my rhymes as Deleuzian rhizomes, so I can easily connect my rhymes like Lego... It’s totally acceptable within my project to incorporate disparate fragments – unless the lyrics are focused by a constraint, as on my album about birds (Oiseau=textual: the flying rap album) or the one about the Iran-Contra scandal (The Iran-Contra Project).
6. Have you engaged with any other type of writing, whether presently or in the past? Fiction? Poetry? Playwriting? If so, how has that mode influenced your songwriting?
I’ve written poetry, fiction, a screenplay... The rapping basically grew out of my experiments with print poetry – I started making poems called "phonotexts," recorded poems, in 2014... I made a spoken word album called Phono=textual: a novel in mono... It took about three years for these "phonotexts" to become rap songs.
7. How much editing do you do after initially writing a verse/song? Do you labor over verses, working on them over a long period of time, or do you start and finish a piece in a quick burst?
I try to edit as I write, then I'll record the thing, sometimes using some instrumental that I'm not actually going to use – just to hear it, so I can edit it some more. Then I record the song immediately. It usually takes a few hours or an evening.
Sometimes I work on a song for a few days.
8. Do you write to a beat, or do you adjust and tweak lyrics to fit a beat?
I begin with the words and a rhythm usually... I write lyrics, then I make the drums, then I record the verse or verses, then finally I'll add guitars and synthesizer and whatnot.
9. What dictates the direction of your lyrics? Are you led by an idea or topic you have in mind beforehand? Is it stream-of-consciousness? Is what you come up with determined by the constraint of the rhymes?
I usually begin with one small idea, just a line or a few words, and I grow a verse or verses from the one idea through free association, playing with meaning and rhyme. I’m often propelled by chance, but just as often propelled by a thematic goal, and this can change midway through writing.
10. Do you like to experiment with different forms and rhyme schemes, or do you keep your bars free and flexible?
I’ve sneaked sonnets into my raps, and I’ve invented something called “rhyme chiasmus” (a rhyme scheme where two rhyming sounds are repeated in a chiastic pattern for many bars) but I’m usually freer.
11. What’s a verse you’re particularly proud of, one where you met the vision for what you desire to do with your lyrics?
The song "Electrons," track 01 of Abolish Canada [1]...though it goes on a bit too long I think, the bit right at the beginning is very good maybe. That song, and in fact the entirety of Abolish Canada [1]... That’s where I’ve most closely achieved much of what I intend with my words.
12. Can you pick a favorite bar of yours and describe the genesis of it?
My lines make their meaning through the relation to other lines. So, my favourite passage in my writing – "the human soul stuck in your body / fluent in post-structural ornithology” – is shaped by what surrounds it.
The song is called "Under the Oiseau=text." It’s about reading and about birds. And about reading birds as signs, an ancient practice.
I thought of these words because a bird, a pigeon, rose flapping before me as I walked along Commercial Drive in Vancouver. I decided to make an album about birds in that moment, and began writing "Under the Oiseau=text" as soon as I got home. Here’s the lyric in its context:
sans serif, these words upon my gravestone bearing the withered flower tossed - the Baudelairean inner albatross, the human soul stuck in your body fluent in post-structural ornithology . . .  . . .his words draw you a map of the geographer perched upon a branch in the binoculars, this scholar of math as it pertains to flight, the neurographer mapping the brain with light
13. Do you feel strongly one way or another about punch-ins? Will you whittle a bar down in order to account for breath control, or are you comfortable punching-in so you don’t have to sacrifice any words?
I shorten lines and always try to do verses in a single take.
14. What non-hiphop material do you turn to for inspiration? What non-music has influenced your work recently?
Afropessimism, John Ashbery’s poetry, nature, the congressional report on the Iran-Contra scandal, and the letter N. Also, I collect and read dictionaries.
15. Writers are often saddled with self-doubt. Do you struggle to like your own shit, or does it all sound dope to you?
Some of my stuff I dig especially, other stuff I’m okay with, most of the stuff I don’t like no one can hear anywhere. Grand Lunatic I’m not crazy about, Andra Mbalimbali I’m not crazy about, Neuro=textual: a novel of ideas is not my favourite of my albums. From late in 2022 and throughout 2023, that stuff I like – though I’m on the fence about some projects like Black Squirrel and The Iran-Contra Project. The earlier stuff evinces potential realized by Oiseau=textual: the flying rap album and Abolish Canada [1]... That’s how I see things.
16. Who’s a rapper you listen to with such a distinguishable style that you need to resist the urge to imitate them?
Rappers who depend less on rhyme and just say really interesting shit, like AKAI SOLO or my friend Jouquin Fox, I can’t do that. I tried using a little less rhyme on The Iran-Contra Project, my concept album about Iran-Contra, and I’m sure I can’t do that. The constraint of rhyme is essential to my style.
17. Do you have an agenda as an artist? Are there overarching concerns you want to communicate to the listener?
Yes, I am trying to communicate many things to the listener. I am saying nothing specifically, and consequently saying many different things. (Any one of these different things I could write about at length, but it has been recommended to me that I just leave it at “I am saying nothing specifically, and consequently saying many different things” – nice and succinct.)

Jump Leads launches at 8am pacific tomorrow!
The series is six episodes of science-fiction comedy. It's Doctor Who meets Red Dwarf by way of Sliders, and I am insanely proud of it.
Jump Leads follows two trainees in the Lead Service - a sort-of self-appointed reality police - as they travel to parallel universes on their earliest field training exercises. Chaperoned by the eccentric but charming Captain Lucas, they soon learn that there's more to travelling to parallel worlds than their training textbooks might have covered.
The show features an amazing cast, including Austin Lee Matthews (Final Fantasy VII Remake, Pokémon Revolution, Megaton Girl) and Dino Andrade (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bidoof's Big Stand) as well as guest appearances from Connor Andrade (We Baby Bears, Shenmue III, Spider-Man), Lemar Harris (who recently appeared as the DM in Rhett & Link's "We Hired an Exorcist to Play D&D!"), and Will Overgard (Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed).
It also features:
Six (mostly) standalone stories, one of which is entirely about character development take that prestige television!
Two diametrically-opposed characters stuck together through circumstance!
Queer lead characters!
At least two different types of robot!
Two mid-credits scenes that are just for jokes and don't serve to set up spin-offs of some kind!
Theme music by Professor Shyguy!
A subtle, hidden reference to the seminal 1991 cinematic platform action-adventure game Another World!
Captioned versions on YouTube!
I've said this a billion times, but I am so, so proud of how this show came out and I really, really hope you listen to and enjoy it a lot. You can find the show in your podcasting app, or by selecting one of these handy-dandy links:

Animation Night 159: Armitage III
Good evening animation devotees! It is once again Sunday, the day of animation.
Apologies for the late start this evening. It’s been tricky to run everything while I’m in Glasgow, but on the other hand, tonight’s subject comes at the suggestion of my wonderful host. Since it’s so late, no lengthy intro today... by my standards, anyway x3
Tumblr media
So, 1995 was a big year in anime. Ghost in the Shell happened. The story behind it is fascinating and I barely told any of it back on AN39. Production I.G. had recently come into existence, the synthesis of anime studio I.G. Tatsunoko  and the Headgear collective, which had come together on the Patlabor movies. It managed to bring all its elements together to create a really novel synthesis of all its elements: deeply atmospheric, exceptionally animated, and with enough of the crazy autistic passion of Shirow’s manga shining through to give it a dimension missing in the drier Patlabor movies that came before. It became a reference point for just about anything even vaguely in the vicinity of cyberpunk to come...
And Evangelion happened. The impact of Anno’s unification of psychological drama, body horror, conspiracies and robots is maybe even greater. Even beyond its direct aesthetic influences, or inspiring the word moe, its sekaikei plot became a template for anime stories in all sots of genres. I wrote a bunch about Eva back on AN18, but of course there is so much more to dive into.
Tonight our subject is another cyberpunk robot story from 1995, a project of AIC - veterans of the world of OVAs. They’re behind the invention of hentai anime with Cream Lemon in 1984 (AN69), they made the iconic 80s robot ova Bubblegum Crisis, and at the start of the 1990s, they were the place where The Hakkenden experimented with the devices that would become the core of 90s animation (AN 122).
Tumblr media
Armitage III is another cyberpunk robot-focused anime - but when we say cyberpunk it’s in the literary sense too, with overt allusion to Neuromancer. And also Lovecraft. It’s a Pinocchio-type story about the line between robots and humans, set on a Mars colony which has recently discovered the existence of ‘third type’ robots which are superficially identical to humans and gone a bit nuts about it. ‘Armitage’ refers to protagonist Naomi Armitage, one of a duo of cops who are trying to contain the chaos - but Naomi is herself one of these third type androids. There’s some rather wacky gender shit with Earth having a ‘feminist’ society motivating more men emigrate to Mars, and also robot pregnancy which is a subject rarely touched on in these sexy robot stories.
But also it’s mostly a chance to bask in that 90s anime aesthetic. Like its contemporaries, expect something dark and moody and full of fascinating designs and intricate mechanical animations. Character designs are detailed and volumetric, but there’s also an element of the spiky stylisation of e.g. Gunnm, especially as our protagonist starts to take on some upgrades.
Tumblr media
Rather than write more, I think I’d best just hurry up and get the ball rolling while it’s still technically Sunday.
Tonight the plan is to show the four episodes of the OVA. They got compiled into a movie (Poly-Matrix) but I hear it is overly compressed and hard to follow. There’s a sequel, Dual-Matrix, but I generally hear it’s not great and since it’s so late, I’m just gonna watch the original OVA.
We’ll be going live in just a minute at twitch.tv/canmom. I’d love to see you there!!

Final Fantasy (1987)ファイナルファンタジー

Date: December 18, 1987 Platform: Game Boy Advance / MSX / PlayStation Portable / Nintendo Entertainment System / PlayStation / WonderSwan Color / Wii Shop / PC / iPhone / PlayStation Network (PSP) / iPad / Android / Windows Phone / Nintendo 3DS eShop / PlayStation Network (Vita) Developer: Square Enix / Squaresoft / TOSE Co., Ltd. Publisher: Square Enix / Squaresoft / Nintendo / Micro Cabin Co. Genre: Role-Playing Theme: Fantasy / Medieval Franchises: Final Fantasy Also known as: FF1: Final Fantasy I / Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood / Mobius Final Fantasy / Final Fantasy XIV Online Type: Crossover
Summary:
Final Fantasy is Square Enix's longest running and most popular role-playing franchise. First premiering on December 18, 1987 with the original Final Fantasy, it has only increased in popularity over the last 35 years. Inspired by Enix's Dragon Warrior, he took the last of Square's money and developed the game. It sold 400,000 units, kicking off what has become one of the best-selling video game franchises in history. This series has had several spin-offs, some of which are Final Fantasy Adventure (which went on to become the Mana series), Final Fantasy Tactics, a series of turn-based strategy RPGs, and even several games starring the Final Fantasy mascot, the cute, ostrich-like chocobo. Additionally, the first few games of Squaresoft's SaGa series were given "Final Fantasy Legend" titles when they were released in North America because of Final Fantasy's recognizable name.A Chocobo
Since its inception, the series has branched out into portable games, action spin-offs, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, and even games for mobile phones. Originally, each new Final Fantasy game introduced to players an entirely new world, storyline, and set of characters. However, since Final Fantasy II the games have each shared a number of motifs that fans have come to look for. For instance, there has always been a character named Cid, who is usually connected to flight, whether as a pilot or engineer (though he has also been known as a political figure from time to time). Chocobos appear frequently in most Final Fantasy stories, and are usually used as mounts for the player. The teddy bear-like Moogle is also very common to Final Fantasy games. Cactuars often appear as enemies in Final Fantasy games, but have been known to show up in doll-like form.Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection
Final Fantasy IV was the second game to be released outside of Japan and introduced many key elements that would stick with the future titles of the series: Save Points, Active Time Battle System, theatrical cutscenes, character leitmotifs, etc. This game was known as Final Fantasy II in North America and the forthcoming Final Fantasy VI was renamed to Final Fantasy III in North America. It wasn't until Final Fantasy VII that the series retro-actively changed it's chronological naming for the North American releases.
More recently, Square Enix has begun to extend the most popular Final Fantasy games beyond their initial release. Characters from numerous Final Fantasy games have made appearances in games like Kingdom Hearts, Ehrgeiz, and Dissidia. Several specific main series games have also received direct sequels or spin-offs which often occupy different genres. Final Fantasy X saw a sequel, the appropriately titled Final Fantasy X-2, which directly continued and concluded the original game's storyline.
The wildly popular Final Fantasy VII has seen numerous related releases, including the PSP action RPG Crisis Core, the PlayStation 2 third-person action game Dirge of Cerberus, a mobile game released only in Japan called Before Crisis, and in 2020, after much clamoring for it from fans, Final Fantasy VII Remake was released for PlayStation 4.
In a similar vein, Final Fantasy XIII had a trilogy of games released within the same world, include Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Mirror Maze
Although there were no immediate sparks between Dikottir and me, we continued to chat on Hinge. Unlike many of the other men I chatted to, Dikttori wasn't very consistent in his messages over Hinge. Occasionally, a day or two would pass before I'd receive a response from him. Supposedly it was because he'd draft a response and forget to send it through or Hinge would glitch on his android phone.
Whatever the reason, he wasn't consistently spamming me with messages, which was a nice change of pace because I'm often playing video games or writing up blog posts or editing my stories, and leaving my phone far away from me. Something that most would regard as abnormal for a Millennial, but the only time I take my phone is when I'm dying of boredom and don't have a convenient book lying around. In fact, my mother uses her phone far more than I do and you can see it in the battery health.
Still, I thought it best to get to know Dikottir a little better. After all, I'm a slow burn type of person. It's only when I've become friends with someone and known them for a quite a while before I start to properly open up.
While they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, I find the opposite holds true when you're first trying to get to know someone. Shocking, I know, coming from an introvert who never seems to leave the sanctity of the house.
So, when the the PowerHouse Museum featured the Kaleidoscope exhibit, I asked Dikottir if he was interested. This was, after all, the man who had suggested checking out Oh! Bento and who had earlier gone twice to an Air Crash/ Seance exhibition at the PowerHouse.
Thankfully, Dikottir hadn't been to Kaleidoscope just yet and was open to checking it out. After arranging a date amenable to the two of us, we bought our tickets online separately.
I arrived early to the date, mostly because I needed to roam around the city a little in order to buy a Father's Day gift for my stepfather. Kyndaris, I hear you international readers ask, wasn't Father's Day in June? Well, no. In Australia, it's celebrated on the first weekend of September. Which was when Dikottir and I went on our date to the Kaleidoscope.
Given the fact that my stepfather and I weren't on talking terms, I wasn't certain how much effort I ought to put into present buying. But I knew I wanted to do something better than buying him a pair of underwear like my mother. After all, I'm a pretty observant individual (at least I like to think so) and knew he had an interest in taking photos. Whether the photos he took were good or not, I couldn't say. It's not like he showed me.
And it was the easiest of his hobbies to buy for as his ones included playing sport, reading online stories or playing mahjong on his phone.
By the time I rocked up to Kaleidoscope, I'd purchased a cleaning kit and a strap for my stepfather.
Along the way, I stopped by Anime Kaika. From the name alone, it should come as no surprise that the store is where people can anime merchandise. Inside, three Nenderoids caught my eye: Kingdom Hearts III Riku, Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth.
While I was tempted to buy at least one of them, in order to add to my collection of figurines (which, albeit isn't very extensive), I withheld on the purchase. After all, I am a woman with a mortgage and limited funds. I am, as well, a responsible adult who spends her money on normal adult things. Like groceries, books, video games, books, work clothes, books, video games and other necessary items.
Anyways, after a quick jaunt through the city, I arrived outside the Kaleidoscope exhibit near the PowerHouse museum. It wasn't long before Dikttori joined me and the two of us entered the mirror maze. Almost immediately, I discovered a trick to help differentiate the critical path and what were a series of reflections: staring at the ground and seeing where the bottom of the mirror was. Dikottir, impressed by my talents, informed me I'd no doubt be an excellent competitor of the hit Netflix show Squid Game or its final survivor.
Something I very much doubted because some of the games played were pure luck rather than skill. And I'd no doubt die in some gruesome manner one way or the other.
Not to mention the fact that I'd probably also be one of the first to turn into a zombie if the world descended into a zombie apocalypse.
After a good thirty minutes where Dikottir and I were thoroughly turned around, we managed to escape Kaleidoscope, taking photos of what it looked like in the daytime and the impressive evening light show.
From Kaleidoscope, we hoofed it to World Square where we enjoyed some Ippudo ramen (it was a cold September night) and chatted about the upcoming Voice referendum (which by the time this post goes up will have ended) and other social causes that we believed strongly in. After filling our stomachs with ramen, Dikottir tried to locate a Thai dessert place. But unlike most men I knew, he was surprisingly terrible at directions, and I had to step in to slowly guide him to Mango Coco.
Unfortunately, the line there was huge so we abandoned our initial plans of dessert and headed for a bubble tea place on George Street instead. As we walked, we talked about work and our lives, before we stopped by a busker playing anime, game and classical music on his portable keyboard.
Just like that, the night was over.
Did I think Dikottir and I were a good match?
Well, he certainly had a decent job and we shared similar sentiments when it came to politics (which, honestly, probably isn't something that should be raised during dates but there it is), but I can't say if I felt anything for him beyond the fact he seemed a decent and affable man. Dikottir was certainly more educated than many of the others I'd met and seemed wiser than his thirty odd years.
It begs the question why a man like him hadn't settled down earlier with a nice girl.
But it also makes me wonder if I am aromantic as well as asexual. Or if perhaps my romantic interests lie elsewhere. Dating women, however, is a difficult endeavour and I'm not sure if I'll ever find the right person for me to prove or disprove my suspicions.
I know, of course, that I can obsess over people and feel deep platonic care and worry for my friends...but where does one draw the line between friendship and romance? It's a question I'm still trying to figure out. Which is difficult for me as I always feel like I'm a step behind.
Still, that hasn't stopped me from shipping Maddox and Ashlyn from High School Musical the Musical the Series. I'm not sure why I started watching the show but it tickles a part of my brain. It's almost like a guilty pleasure.
And I've had many over the years.
After all, why DID I watch all the seasons of Pretty Little Liars and even Ravenswood spin-off? I watched all the seasons of Once upon a Time, too! And Glee!
Gah, why am I exposing myself like this? Forget those last few paragraphs! Strike it from your memory!
The point of this post, and my dating adventures, is that finding love is hard. And while I wish I could know deep in my bones if I like-like someone, I'm the type that will somehow convince myself it was all in my head and switch such feelings off.
Or, perhaps, by the time the year is done, I'll have fallen head over heels in love with someone and be singing a different tune.

Hibiki - Gears, PCI, CMOS. (Hopefully not too much at once)
GEARS: tell me any technical details about how your OC is built? materials, programming, hardware, etc?
hibiki is the equivalent of a pentium III running windows 98. he’s not very high-end compared to modern computing, but he was built in 1999, so he’s still pretty standard tech in 2000. he may be a custom-order model, but he’s still cheap, so he’s mostly silicon and plastic over an aluminum skeleton. his programming runs a standard halosoft OS with none of its settings messed with (so he hasn’t been jailbroken to avoid abiding by the three laws) and his personality and “self” is built on an artificial neural network based on learning from lived experiences, like how human psychology works
PCI: is your OC the only of its model, or are their other robots like them?
a little of both, really. hibiki is a custom-order model, because neither halosoft nor meteora produce child androids, but other than a few custom features and the whole Being A Child thing, he’s still basically the same as any other mass-produced domestic-type halosoft android.
CMOS: does your OC need to sleep or recharge? can they dream?
he runs on a rechargeable battery, so yes, but he doesn’t need to be in sleep mode to charge, that just makes the process faster. there’s also ele•K brand recharging consumables available for purchase, which are basically like robot energy drinks and charging candy. they’re usually more efficient than stopping everything to sit down and plug into the wall for hours at a time.
he can dream; i don’t know about meteora, but halosoft androids have a debugging feature that automatically runs in sleep mode called electricSheep.bat, it more or less simulates dreaming by randomly sorting through and replaying memory files to make sure nothing is corrupted or damaged and to ensure the android doesn’t die in its sleep. hibiki doesn’t really like dreaming because he mostly just gets nightmares, so he prefers to avoid sleep mode at all costs.
everyone feel free to send more OK?

Protecting Your Used Phone from Malware and Viruses
Tumblr media
In today's digital age, our smartphones have become an essential part of our lives. They store our personal data, connect us with friends and family, and even serve as our digital wallets. However, this increased reliance on mobile devices makes them attractive targets for cybercriminals seeking to steal information, infect devices with malware, or gain unauthorized access. When you buy a used phone, it's crucial to take steps to protect it from malware and viruses. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore how you can safeguard your used phone and your data.
I. Understand the Risks
Awareness is Key: The first step in protecting your used phone from malware and viruses is understanding the risks. Cyber threats continually evolve, and knowing what you're up against is essential.
Types of Threats: Malware, short for malicious software, includes viruses, trojans, worms, ransomware, and spyware. Each poses a unique threat to your device and data.
II. Secure Your Phone's Operating System
Keep Your OS Up to Date: Regularly updating your phone's operating system (OS) is vital. Manufacturers release updates to patch vulnerabilities and enhance security.
Use a Secure Password/PIN: Secure your phone with a strong password or PIN. Avoid easily guessable options like "1234" or "password."
Enable Biometric Authentication: Whenever possible, enable biometric authentication methods like fingerprint or facial recognition for added security.
Lock Screen Notifications: Configure your lock screen settings to hide sensitive information from prying eyes.
III. Install and Update Apps Securely
Download from Trusted Sources: Stick to official app stores like Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). Avoid sideloading apps from unverified sources.
Check App Permissions: Review app permissions before installation. Be cautious of apps that request excessive access to your device's functions or data. Update Apps Regularly:
Keep your apps updated to ensure you have the latest security patches and bug fixes. Consider App Reputation:
Read reviews and check the reputation of an app before downloading it. Be cautious if an app has a low rating or a history of security issues. IV. Utilize Security Apps and Features
Install Antivirus and Security Software:
Consider installing reputable antivirus and security apps to scan for and remove malware. Many options are available for both Android and iOS. Find My Device or Find My iPhone:
Enable tracking features like "Find My Device" (Android) or "Find My iPhone" (iOS) to locate your phone in case it's lost or stolen. Remote Wipe and Lock:
Ensure your device allows remote wipe and lock capabilities to protect your data if your phone is lost or stolen. V. Secure Your Network
Use Secure Wi-Fi Networks:
Avoid connecting to public Wi-Fi networks without password protection, as they are more susceptible to cyberattacks. Enable VPN (Virtual Private Network):
Consider using a VPN when connecting to public Wi-Fi. A VPN encrypts your internet connection, making it more challenging for hackers to intercept your data. Bluetooth and NFC Security:
Turn off Bluetooth and NFC when not in use, as they can be used for unauthorized data transfer. VI. Be Wary of Phishing
Phishing Awareness:
Be cautious of emails, text messages, or social media messages from unknown sources or containing suspicious links. Phishing attempts often trick users into revealing personal information. Verify Sources:
Verify the legitimacy of requests for personal information or financial transactions by contacting the source directly using official contact information. Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):
Enable 2FA for your email and important accounts to add an extra layer of security. VII. Secure Your Data
Regular Backups:
Regularly back up your data to a secure location, such as a cloud service or an external device. This ensures you can recover your data in case of malware or device loss. Data Encryption:
Enable device encryption to protect your data from unauthorized access. Both Android and iOS offer encryption options. VIII. Educate Yourself
Stay Informed:
Keep up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats and best practices. Awareness is a powerful tool against cyberattacks. Online Resources:
Utilize online resources and articles to learn more about cybersecurity and how to protect your device effectively. IX. Secure Disposal of Old Devices
Factory Reset:
Before selling or disposing of your old phone, perform a factory reset to erase all data. Be sure to remove your Google or Apple account from the device. Consider Recycling or Reselling:
If you're not using your old phone, consider recycling it through a reputable program or selling it to a trusted buyer. X. Ongoing Vigilance
Regular Scanning:
Periodically run security scans to check for malware or vulnerabilities. Stay Skeptical:
Be cautious of unsolicited offers, pop-up ads, and emails claiming to be from reputable sources. Verify their legitimacy before taking any action. Conclusion
Protecting your used phone from malware and viruses is essential in safeguarding your personal data and privacy. By following the comprehensive guide outlined above, you can significantly reduce the risks associated with cyber threats. Remember that cybersecurity is an ongoing process that requires vigilance and regular updates to keep your device and data safe from harm. Taking these proactive steps will help you enjoy the benefits of your used phone with confidence and peace of mind.

Pairing my Bluetooth headphones took just a tap, and the transmission range held up impressively at over 30 feet without dropouts. Audio sound quality was excellent thanks to support for the efficient aptX and AAC codecs.
Watching video on my laptop, the audio and video stayed perfectly in sync thanks to the low latency transmission. No noticeable lag at all.
Customer review
Q: Does this work with ipads?
A: iPad has bluetooth built in, you don’t need this
Q: Does this work with iPad Pro?
A: iPad has bluetooth built in, you don’t need this
Q: By any change can this be used on my keyboard to make it wireless?
A: If you look for a default implementation the answer is no. This will only work as a USB sound device to the pc, Nintendo switch and Android. Bluetooth pairing is on its own board. To pair Bluetooth you need to use the button on the board, and have the earphones in to pairing mode so the 2 pair each other’s. As you cannot choose the pairing device from keyboard, I doubt you can connect it to a keyboard. On the other hand it is also doubtful that the keyboard input can be transmit to the computer through it.
Q: Can you use when the switch is docked?
A: Just tested this real quick, can confirm it works.
Q: Has anyone used with google stadia ?
A: I couldn’t get it working. It works with my phone, a pixel 3 xl. And I can get the pixel wired earbuds to work with the stadia controller. But this headset + stadia controller doesn’t work.
Q: Does this device work as a transmitter with Airpods? Other brands do not provide a means to control volume in the transmitter mode.
A: Airpods work, but volume control is from the device not the transmitter
If you need to stream audio from a TV, stereo or other optical source, the C51 won’t work and you’ll need a transmitter with optical input like the Avantree Priva III. But for a fuss-free USB audio transmitter, the C51 gets the job done.

Fireblocks launched a non-custodial wallet-as-a-service aimed at catering to businesses across various sectors, reflecting a broader industry trend towards user-controlled Digital Assets. Fireblocks introduced a non-custodial wallet-as-a-service (WaaS) tailored for various sectors, including brands, corporates, fintechs, and web3 businesses today, Sept. 11. This development is noteworthy as it reflects a larger industry trend toward user-controlled Assets, particularly in light of challenges faced by centralized platforms like FTX. The non-custodial wallet is designed to work across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, and web browsers, facilitated by a Software development kit. While there is a growing Interest in defi, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and native web3 functionalities among fintechs and brands, these innovations come with their own sets of challenges, specifically around Security and compliance. Issues such as the loss of seed phrases and Vulnerabilities in multi-party computation have created hurdles in ensuring user Security at scale. To mitigate these challenges, Fireblocks’ non-custodial WaaS employs MPC-CMP technology within a hardware-based trusted execution environment. This aims to add multiple layers of Security and Safeguard the private key from internal and external Threats. Moreover, the company holds various compliance certifications like CCSS Level III, SOC2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and ISO 27018, indicative of a commitment to meet regulatory standards. The non-custodial WaaS is modular and white-label, meaning businesses can overlay their own user interfaces and features atop Fireblocks’ underlying technology. This allows for customization according to specific business needs without exposing users to operational Risks inherent in any new technology. Flipkart, an e-commerce giant in India, has integrated Fireblocks’ WaaS infrastructure for its web3-based brand Engagement and loyalty program. This represents one of the real-world Applications of such technology, aiming to onboard a large, mobile-first customer base onto web3 platforms. For web3 developers, the wallet service offers a range of features, such as Web3 Wallet Link and a Policy Engine, designed to control and protect user interactions with Decentralized Applications (dapps). Fireblocks’ non-custodial WaaS is part of a broader suite of services, which includes a treasury management component for Digital Assets. As of now, the platform reports securing over 130 million wallets for a diverse range of entities, from financial institutions to fintech startups.
