Captain Colin Kelly was a World War II B-17 Flying Fortress pilot who flew bombing runs against the Japanese navy in the first days after the Pearl Harbor attack. He is remembered as one of the first American heroes of the war after ordering his crew to bail out while he remained at the bomber's controls trying to keep the plane in the air before it exploded, killing him. His was the first American B-17 to be shot down in combat.
* Kelly was with the 14th Bombardment Squadron, 19th Bombardment Group, United States Army Air Corps
Colin Purdie Kelly Jr. died December 10, 1941 at the age of 26.

I’m unsure how to handle this, but I know if I don’t get advice I’ll handle it in a shitty way.
I should preface this by saying that I am a United States Marine 0311, 11 Bravo for any Army folks. Basically I’m a Rifleman. I’ve been in for four years and I have two more to go.  So, I’m taking a welding course at my college and I have one semester left. Classes started again today, so there is a new group of students that came in to take the introductory course with a new instructor. One of them was wearing this
Tumblr media
The nametape with U.S Marines had been cut off. But the one with the last name was still there.  At first all I saw was the blouse. And I think, “Oh shit, that’s weird. Why would he wear his old shit to weld in?” When I asked him how long he’d been in, he was upfront and honest that he wasn’t and had never been in the Marine Corps. He’d bought the blouse at a pawn shop. He mumbled something about having tried to join. But honestly, I didn’t hear what he said. I just said “oh cool” and I went to my booth to start welding my pipe and just mulled over it, grinding my teeth about it for the next four hours.  I honestly don’t think the guy meant any harm, or that its a stolen valor situation. I get that it isn’t the first or the last time I’m going to see this. I’ve come to the conclusion that I can just bite my tongue and ignore it. Or I could POLITELY ask him not to wear it around me and offer him an extra denim shirt like I have that keeps the sparks off my arms while I weld.  He looked pretty uncomfortable when he put 2 and 2 together. I don’t wanna fuckin dress this guy down for no reason. I haven’t done anything yet.

The Raven Rock Mountain Complex (RRMC), also known as Site R, is a U.S. military installation with an underground nuclear bunker near Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, at Raven Rock Mountain that has been called an "underground Pentagon". The bunker has emergency operations centers for the United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. Along with Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center in Virginia and the Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado. 🤔
