He'll be more than happy to hug you if he knows you. After all, (almost) everyone is his friend!

He'll make happy sounds, and will ask you to hold him.

May or may not fall asleep in your arms...

He doesn't need a reason, he's just made of love <3

But if I had to write about any situation... it'd be this:

You had a rough day, Meta Knight's hard training lessons, Dedede's nagging, and various things that just drained your energy. You were in the beach, looking at the sea as your thought started to fill your mind. If only you could mute your consciousness...

What you didn't notice, however, was the small heroe next to you, who let out a concerned "poyo?" At the sight of a sad friend.

You didn't notice him run away either, but you did saw him running back to you with some apples. He sat next to you and gave you one of them happily, as if he were trying to cheer you up. He listened to your problems, and even if he didn't understand some of them, he comforted you as best as he could.

You two saw the sunset begin, and he jumped in your arms. It was int that moment that you realize that you'll always have a friend who's willing to listen to you, no matter what. Although he may fall asleep in your arms after that, like what was happening at the moment.

Meta knight

No. At least, not without asking for permission.

Let's be honest, he's a cold knight and even if he cares for his friends he's not a fan of physical contact.

So it takes a lot, A LOT of hard work to get him to trust you. Many battles and long training sessions, nights of talking and insufferable scolding during hikes.

He does that because he cares for your safety, but you're still a stranger to him. Though, your resilience and kindness have surprised this stoic knight.

Seeing you work hard and smile everyday was suspicious, not many are able to pass his training...

But one day, he saw you crying in your quarters out of exhaustion. He felt... guilty.

So he decided to set his ego to the side and apologize.

Try to imagine the expression under his mask when you told him you just wanted to make him proud because you didn't feel like you belonged to dreamland. :(

He hugged you. It was akward, yes, but it's the thought that matters. He feels bad for you, after all.

Meta had the great Idea of asking you to meet up for lunch the next day, to get to know eachother.

King Dedede

In his defense, he was very cold.

Winter in Dreamland, a strange sight but always welcomed by the most playful ones.

You came to Dreamland not too long ago, and the self-claimed king has hated you ever since. I mean, getting back at him for his insults is so unfair....! (Cue him throwing a fit at poor escargoon because you always manage to see him coming at you with a new scheme to ruin your day)

So when he saw you giving away sweet, hot chocolate to people in the town, he became furious (He wanted you to offer him hot chocolate too). He got closer to throw subtle comments about your chocolate not being tasty, and it ended up in a snowball fight.

What he didn't expect, was you covering him completely in snow.

It seems like Meta knight's training was worth it, after all.

This all leads us to the current situation: him having catched a cold and staying in your guest room at the castle. "It was your fault, you take care of him" (Escargoon's words).

He looked at your figure entering the bedroom with some (burning hot) soup and a cup, not really being in the mood to take medicine. You had to practically force him to finish the soup, but there were no problems when he realized the mysterious cup was filled with your hot chocolate.

After that, when the tiredness started to kick in, you decided it was a good moment to get to know him. Turns out he's not that bad, he's just... lonely. And traumatized (For everything that happens to him in the games).

You were about to go away, but he stopped you. You were about to ask why, when he sat up amd wrapped his arms around you. "Please" was the only thing he said. You really couldn't say no, huh?

You may have gotten a cold last night, but hey, at least you don't have a tyrant making your life impossible everyday! Now, you just have a whiny penguin nagging you with his schemes and plans. If you already understood Escargoon's suffering, now you two bond over it. Waddle Dee's

MY BABIES

It was an average friday. You used to watch movies every friday night before coming to Dreamland, and it didn't change since there were TV's here too.

You put on whatever movie you could find, grabbed some snacks, a blanket, and sat on the couch. Everything was normal, until you heard a soft knock on the door. It was Bandana Waddle Dee, who came to see if you were doing alright. You cpuld tell he was happy when you offered him to sit next to you.

You talked to him through the entire movie, sharing the snacks and the blankets, carrying him to his quarters when he fell asleep. (He's so pure I can't-)

He came back the next friday, and the next, but that time he brought two other Waddle Dee's with him, claiming that they were following him. Fortunately, you had more that enough snacks for everyone.

But as weeks passed, your room started to get more crowded, to the point that you had to improvise a projector in the gardens and organise the snack and blankets/pillows situation.

By the time two months had passed, and you moved to the plaza (people like Dedede, Escargoon or Meta Knight may be in the crowd, but disguised or hidden, trying not to be suspicious they are).

However, you'll always be surrounded by a pile of happy Waddle Dee's, with any lucky one sleeping in your arms. It's safe to say that they absolutely adore you.

Name: Girl blob

Debut: Kirby’s Dream Land 2

This blob is a GIRL! You knew this, because the blob is pink and wears a bow and debuted in 1995. But who is this blob who is a girl? She must be pretty important to get official artwork, right? Not at all! She is not important and I just frankensteined some official art of other characters together to make this because she has none. But to truly talk about Girl blob, we must talk about someone VERY important! A VERY special guest!

Gooey!!! This is Gooey, and you likely already knew that. You love Gooey! Even if you did not already know Gooey, you love him now, because he is so wonderful! If you dislike Gooey, I am honestly a little afraid of you. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, but... it’s Gooey, you know? Anyway, Gooey also debuts in Dream Land 2! He does not do much here, but if the circumstances are right, he will surprise you by emerging from a burlap sack, and give you a bit of health if you collect him. Mostly, it is just lovely to have him here!

Even more rarely, though, Gooey will be replaced by Girl blob instead! You very well may need to actively seek out Girl blob in order to see her, and this is made wackier by the fact that finding her is a necessary 1% of the total game completion. She is so weirdly important! Who is she?!

Nintendo Power may be the source of her name, but it is really just a title.They don’t even refer to Gooey by his name here! Surely, though, someone must have thought of a name when designing her. Maybe her name could be Ooey. Ooey and Gooey!

Is she Gooey’s girlfriend? There is no way Gooey has a concept of romance. So is she his sister? Just a friend? Gooey would go on to have a major role in Dream Land 3, which heavily featured friendly characters to help in every stage, including female counterparts of established friends. Surely Girl blob would make a reappearance there!

Girl blob, won’t you play the piano for us with those magic fingers of yours, to set the mood?

Girl blob would not return. You see, Girl blob is not actually important. In a sense, Girl blob... is nothing.

This is Chao. And Chao is the REAL Girl blob! Chao is from the Japan-only game Yūyūki, and appeared in the Japanese Dream Land 2 as a cameo! She would rarely replace Gooey, and seeing her was necessary to 100% complete the game. But outside of Japan, players would have no idea who this character is! And if you don’t get the reference, it would be really weird to see a sudden human in a Kirby game, relegated to such a tiny role.

You know what’s easily understandable in nearly any context? A blob! Especially if the game already has a blob in it. And how do you differentiate your new blob? Make it a girl blob! And just like that, (celebrity chef catchphrase)! You got yourself an extremely simple design that fits in with no suspicion, ready for your international audience. Honestly, I think Girl blob is a better choice in the end! A blob fits the Kirby series much more naturally, and I just don’t really like the idea of a cameo character from another game being among the very limited number of allies in a game like this.

A cameo character appearing among DOZENS of friendly characters, including various other cameos, though, that is fine with me! And Chao would indeed return in Dream Land 3, with her friend Goku! I can’t help but imagine a world where the localizers were extremely paranoid about people not getting the reference, and brought Girl blob back for this stage, either establishing that she is friends with a monkey, or going the extra mile and ALSO reskinning Goku, creating yet another localization-exclusive character. After a boy blob and a girl blob, it would be time to represent the third genderl A Baby blob!

As far as the Kirby series as a whole goes, Girl blob basically does not exist, and I honestly wonder how common it is for Japanese fans to even know about her! She has never once been referenced, and is absolutely not canon. Unless...

Here is ChuChu, who officially debuted in Dream Land 3! While technically an octopus, she sure is a pink girl blob wearing a big bow. If you want, you could just interpret Girl blob as being her, making a little early appearance! It may be a headcanon, but it doesn’t contradict anything whatsoever, so why not! You could even interpret Girl Blob as someone who does contradict stuff if you want! I will not tell on you! Even if I did, though, the teacher would not care, unless they know about the 100% requirements of Kirby’s Dream Land 2, and if they do, then they are a Cool Teacher who would not get mad about it.

hii!! i just wanna say your comic and starspeak lore are SO cool omg!! the way you incorporate the essence of the starfolk culture into their language is incredibly creative and very fitting auauagahsahdbsnsnn <3

i'm pretty interested in all the grammar of the language!! i think you mentioned that there's a question particle that kind of works like mandarin chinese, do other final particles exist? little tone indicators in the language seems like it would help mutual understanding between a bunch of mystical star-beings :0

also, if it's been developed yet, how do verbs work in this? granted, i don't know a lot about greek/latin languages or if you're basing the grammar off of them too, but does it lean more towards romance language's crazy conjugations, or a simpler "subject verb noun" structure?

alright, this one took me a very long time to get to (because i knew it would be long and i've been working on it on and off for a while) and i'm so sorry! thank you so much for your patience veve! and it's been a little while since we've had a starspeak post so let's go!

(i will preface by saying again that the language is still very much a wip which i could change at any time, and that i'm no trained specialist; i'm just doing this for fun and there's a high chance i fully have no clue what i'm talking about 😅)

❓ i'll start with the easiest one of these and go for the question particle!

i think that Celestials are not often doubtful or questioning things, but when they do the particle is an opener rather than a sentence-final (such as ma (嗎/吗) in mandarin chinese). it otherwise works extremely similarly in that it is tagged on to turn a sentence into a question.

so the most common starspeak question particle is tc, almost a mouth sound than a word. the letters are a combination not often used elsewhere in their speech patterns, which i like to think also wraps back around to them being fairly certain of most things they open their mouths to say.

tc is predominantly used when seeking clarification about someone else's experiences, which is probably one of the more frequent times they wouldn't know something in (self-presumed) absolution.

combining it with some other things we've learned; épios (see) and eu (you) we can ask someone what they're seeing presently, where the target of the speaker (eu) is in active possession of the seeing action and vl is an active tense:

"tc vlépios eu?" // "(what's) seen (by) you?" // "what do you see?"

unfortunately in the conlangs current state, moving things around even a little bit throws out the meaning of sentences a lot, which is something i could probably iron out more with significantly more time 😅 "tc eu vlépios?" for example would be closer to "you're seen?" and "tc vlépios-eu?" would probably be like.. "what sight possesses you?", which is... still kind of the same i suppose but it's just an unnecessarily intense way to say it 😂

🥰 okay! question particle done and it was not actually the easiest but anyway; onto the personaliser! "ki".

i'm not 100% sure if this sort of thing exists in other languages or what it might be called to begin researching, but it's ostensibly a way to turn an external item or concept into something internal or individualised

asté (star/s) for instance is a very overused word in their language, understandably. you can use it to refer to gaseous bodies, other Celestials, other non-Celestial beings, or even a specific individual rank within a relationship system. ei asté applies an amount of ownership over the star/s, but still does not make them an individual in their own right. you would most likely use this if you happened to be carting around an actual giant flaming ball of gas

ei astéki however immediately makes the star something more personal, a little soul-deep. maybe it's a warm light inside you, or maybe it's the beating heart of another living being. dropping the 'ei' you could use this as a nickname, though it'd be kind of like calling someone 'person'.

"ei astéki skotei koris eu" // "my stars dimmed lacking you" // functionally just a really big ham "i missed you"

🤏 alright rolling on, last one: a diminutive. this one's easier i think; maybe i ought have started here. oh well!

like it says on the tin, this is to make things small and/or cute! the particle is ró and it is usually tacked on at or towards the end of a word. much like in english i think this is usually done affectionately. though it could be done a little pettily or rudely, being small in size is significantly less of a negatively-judged-concept by Celestials than being low in brightness.

here's some examples, probably the easiest way to go about this one! all of these are actively affectionate, not unlike a pet name?

moiydísró - (small) cheeky one astéróki - small star (personaliser; makes this a clear nickname) ei Vaýtitaró - my little gravity

💬 and then to wrap up, this last part about verbs and conjugations!

answering this one with complete confidence would require that i were a bit better at this and had it more fixed and figured out, but i'll do my best!! i'm not really basing the grammar off any one language in particular (I only use translations to form a rough sound/word and go from there), just kind of what feels like the right sort of vibe.

because i was just doing this for myself and for fun i didn't start out with any rules, just rolled with what i enjoyed! if you were doing conlang more seriously i think it would help to set those rules up at the outset 😅

in its present state, my starspeak seems to me to be a topic prominent language with less individual conjugations and more modifiers; including significant reliance on sentence order and word placement

so instead of having many different words for see (seen, saw, to see) it's more about the placement, word combinations, and other modifiers;

ei épios - me see (a request, often used in place of 'wake up') vlépios ei - seeing by me (active tense added by vl but it's not strictly necessary) eu épios - you see (the speaker sees the target) épios-koris eu - without seeing by you (sight possesses a term for "lack", so the sight itself is lacking. "you don't see clearly", ostensibly.) épios ei prioto - seeing by me before (i saw it earlier)

this is sort of a necessity because right now the overall variety of words is limited; both by the earliness of its development and also because i think that this is a species that might not have needed a lot of words.

maybe they moved the same few hundred words around and minced them up in new ways rather than making lots of new ones. maybe they might have communicated through body language as much as with words (despite how much galacta knight clearly loves the sound of his own voice) or maybe i'll change my mind and they'll be a talkative bunch and we'll have dozens of new words soon 😂

anyway, i hope this is a ~fun and cool answer~ that you will enjoy despite its incredible lateness and sprawling length!! thank you so so much for asking me about the language; as you can tell i dearly love to talk about it despite its nebulousness, and i'm sorry it took me so long to get this out!

A particular thought I had.

If you've seen some of my tumblr posts, you know that I've well established in my headcanons that Magolor, Susie and Taranza are all friends. "Wave 3 friend group" so to speak. And I'm aware that's a popular headcanon throughout the Kirby fandom. It's because those three characters have ton of similarities outside of just being in the same dream friend wave! And a ton of potential that's easily seeable.

I'm someone that headcanons each of the respective dream friend waves being friend groups with one another. So this means that I headcanon Marx being pretty close buddies with Gooey and the animal friends, establishing Wave 1 friend group. Wave 2 friend group also exists in my headcanons, and that of course means Adeleine, Ribbon, Daroach and Dark Meta Knight are all friends with each other.

I don't 100% headcanon the respective waves all being besties with each other. Marx and Magolor are still besties for me, of course! But they've also got additional separate friend groups. Gooey and the animal friends welcome Marx any time, while Magolor hangs around with Susie and Taranza a lot of the time. Sorry I don't do Wave 3 + Marx.

The mage sisters technically count as Wave 3 for me as well, albeit a tad more loosely. But I do headcanon that Susie, Magolor and Taranza are the dream friends that the mage sisters are closest buds with! Aside from Marx, as they love the clown as well. Francisca especially does.

Now, leaving my headcanon talk, I think the reason why Wave 3 is by far the most obvious wave to make a friend group out of is because they're all ex-villains with similar stories, and their trauma overlaps.

I can thoroughly understand why the other two waves aren't talked about as being friend groups as much... before Star Allies, who imagined Marx being with the animal friends? Gooey was already associated with the animal friends beforehand because of Dreamland 2 and 3, but Marx is definitely the oddball for Wave 1. He was a villain! Gooey and the animal friends were never villains in the first place.

I understand why people do Wave 3 + Marx. I don't, because Magolor is the only one of the Wave 3 trio that likes Marx in my headcanons, but I can understand the basis of why others do it. It's because he's an ex-villain like they are! Although he's from a different era of Kirby.

And then onto Wave 2... before Star Allies, who thought about Adeleine and Ribbon being friends with DMK or Daroach?

It's obvious that Wave 1 and Wave 2 are the way they are because of the timeline of the games. Wave 1 represents earlier games. Dreamland 2, Super Star and Dreamland 3 are all earlier releases than the games that Wave 2 represents of 64, Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad. That's why Marx shares a wave with Gooey and animals, and that's why Adeleine and Ribbon share a wave with two darky dudes.

And, well, I did just say that I headcanon the respective waves being friend groups, despite all of their dissimilarities! So there's also that.

But... that doesn't at all stop the fact that I've had a very particular thought in mind, just like what the post's title says.

Wanna know this particular thought?

Here it is:

What if we were to have Marx swap places with Adeleine/Ribbon?

This means putting the two girls in the same wave as Gooey and the animals. And here's the thing about this: Adeleine and Ribbon are from the Shimomura games like Gooey and the animal friends are! And none of these characters were ever villains to begin with. No, Adeleine doesn't count as one, the only reason you fight her is because Dark Matter possessed her. But yeah... Shimomura characters all a friend group? That sounds absolutely legitimate!

I mean, one could argue that Adeleine has canonically met Gooey and the animal friends anyways, considering the pictures of the end credits for Dreamland 3.

And the other side of this swap means putting Marx in the same group with Daroach and DMK. Well... all three of these characters had antagonistic roles in their respective games! Same thing as Wave 3.

This hypothetical swap would then mean that Wave 1 is all the people that were Kirby's friends from the very start, with Wave 2 and Wave 3 being the ones having all the ex-villains. Sounds more consistent!

Although a Marx/Daroach/DMK friend group wouldn't actually be plausible in my headcanons, because I interpret that Marx and DMK don't get along at all. Daroach likes Marx, though! But he'd have to stop Marx and DMK from constantly trying to tear each other apart.

I think, if nothing else, that I'm also mentioning this to provide as an idea for you other people to think about. Did you ever think about this hypothetical swap like I did, to then make Wave 1 all the innocent guys and Wave 2 and 3 be the ones to have all the ex-villains?

If you did think that before, then bravo to you! And also bravo to you if you actually interpret Marx and DMK being able to get along and form a group with Daroach, unlike me lol. In my headcanon universe, the actual waves as they are work better than my swap proposal, since Gooey and the animal friends enjoy Marx, and DMK doesn't at all mind Adeleine and Ribbon! Well.... that does certainly make it very ironic for me to come up with that swap proposal in the first place, doesn't it?

I dunno. Consider it me looking deeply into how people don't talk about Wave 1 and Wave 2 as they are being friend groups as much as they do Wave 3. Again, Wave 3 is entirely ex-villains, while Wave 1 and Wave 2 are mixing innocent guys with ex-villains, which can admittedly be more off-putting to easily view them as friend groups.

Ms. Cat, Ms. Cat! You've talked about how great the Waid and Hickman runs are before, so I wanted to ask: what are some things about these runs that you didn't like? Is there anything you would've added, dropped, and/or rewritten, if you were magically granted the ability to do so?

Ooh okay NEGATIVITY. my actual favorite. and I can do it off the top of my head! (I found the 2018 copy of my refs folder, but not the hard drive I know has a 2022 copy.)

So I have talked a lot about what those runs do right, and I think Waid especially is a really good beginner run, like, if you want to start reading Fantastic Four comics, his run is as close to a perfect modern starting point as we have. (I was talking to someone recently and the conversation segued at one point into how, for a lot of comics, there's no such thing as The Place Where You Start Reading, you kind of just have to hop in.) Hickman... is not an ideal starting point, but if you want to read an interesting, coherent Fantastic Four story that's plot heavy, the first half of his run is excellent for that. (Note I said first half. I'll come back to that.) As opposed to, say, Claremont's run, which is completely incoherent in terms of plot but has the best character work in probably any Fantastic Four run ever. Just don't pick it up if you want the story to, you know. Make sense.

Waid's run -- I would never say Waid's run is perfect, although I do think it's good, which is sort of all you can ask for a lot of the time. The beginning of it definitely falls victim to what I kind of privately call the Johnny Effect: I think a lot of writers have trouble writing Johnny at the start, whether because they don't entirely understand his character or because they're less interested in him than the other three. I literally have a rule where I'll give a new Fantastic Four run like, seven or so issues for the writer to settle into writing Johnny, because a lot of people will fall back on these very shallow perceptions of him, namely that he's irresponsible. (I also think Hickman fell victim to this a little bit at the start of his run, although like with most Johnny Effect cases I'll let it go because both Waid and Hickman wrote incredible Johnny-focused stories that absolutely nailed everything about the character. Whatever Happened to Johnny Storm? and Storm Rising are two of my top Johnny story picks, so they do both get him. It just takes some time sometimes.) Waid's not that bad about it, and he did attempt to spin what I think are traits Johnny doesn't really possess (the playboy nature, the emotional immaturity) into a character arc that does have some good payoff, but if you compare Johnny at the beginning of his run to Johnny in, say, Claremont's run, there's a big difference in terms of characterization. I also don't think Waid is anywhere near the top ten Doom writers -- he goes too hard into utterly cartoon villainy. (Waid's run is, after all, the origin of the Childhood Love Skin Armor of infamy.) His Doom lacks the nuance of Hickman's take, or even the iron willed commitment of Miller's. (I will say whatever I want about the rest of that run but Doom getting eaten by a prehistoric shark and then pulling himself back together atom by atom out of sheer spite is just so fundamentally Doom.) So his characterization can be shaky. He can also pull out really strong moments! I think his depiction of Johnny and Reed's respective grief over Ben is really powerful stuff, although I don't like, love the "journey to heaven" arc. (God is Jack Kirby is pretty funny, though.) If anything, I think it's the juxtaposition of the really strong moments that make the weaker characterization more obvious. I think the Doom characterization is probably my biggest criticism of Waid's run, overall. (I also didn't like his recent Invisible Woman miniseries like, at all. I thought it was boring! Sorry! I wanted to like it!)

Now Hickman, I'm going to complain about. So Hickman's run comes immediately after Mark Miller's run, which I never recommend for the simple reason that it's not good. It's not a good run. Miller deserves his general reputation as one of those overly bro-y comic writers who mistakes sprinkling in sexism for hard hitting realism. Do I kind of want to reread the run right now? Yeah, sort of. Despite it being Not Good, I think there's genuinely interesting stuff in it. Hickman spends the first few issues of his run utterly trampling on Miller's run, like, Godzilla on a miniature city style. It's a little amazing to watch, honestly, like I admire the spirit of spite -- that's what I want to do to both Spencer and Wells' ASM runs -- but it has some intensely negative side effects, namely when it comes to Alyssa Moy.

Alyssa Moy is a character Claremont created back in his run -- she's Reed's old college friend/sometimes flame depending on what writer you ask (they kiss in greeting in Claremont's run, but it could be viewed as a friend thing -- and she's pretty blatantly romantically interested in Ben in Claremont's run), a super genius adventurer who can intellectually hold her own against Reed. In short, she's SUPER fun. Every other writer since Claremont, save for Peter David in Before the Fantastic Four: Reed Richards, has been really fucking weird about her. Whether it's making Sue jealous of her because she's so Intellectually Compatible with Reed (this is nowhere in Claremont's introductory run, where Sue and Alyssa get along really well -- Alyssa was LIVING with the F4 for a while) or having her comment on how she and Reed would have intellectually superior kids while she's married to The Most Boring Man Ever Created, Ted Castle (Miller's run). Hickman is NOT immune to being weird about Alyssa. Where Miller's run leaves Alyssa with her Boring Fucking Husband on Planet Future or whatever (it's dumb, it's a dumb plot), Hickman's opens by saying Alyssa is now... a brain in a jar. A talking brain in a jar on robot spider legs. And then she gets murdered like five pages later. But don't worry, because her Boring Fucking Husband creates a robot version of her, and everyone is fine with this and it's cool actually and we don't have to look too closely about the problematic elements of replacing an Asian woman with a robot version of her built by her freak tech guy husband. And then they blast off to space and have not been seen again. I would SO BADLY love to retcon everything that happened with Alyssa post-Claremont because she's such a fun character and the way she's been treated since in the main book is disgraceful. That's my top pick for what I would fix if I had unlimited editorial power: Alyssa Moy solo.

(Is Hickman great about the depiction of women within the sole context of his Fantastic Four run? I think his greatest triumph with any one female character is Valeria, where he took Miller's depiction -- of a super smart toddler -- and honed that characterization into what's now very solidly Val, with all of Reed's intelligence and a lack of his emotional comprehension, with her strong emotional bond with Doom, with her pragmatism. Can I say he did equally for any other female character, again, solely with the context of his F4 run? Not really.)

I'm not gonna address the renumbering/retitling issue with Hickman's run because I don't think it's fair to put that on the writer, but I do think it's detrimental to the run overall, considering how you need a GUIDE to figure out how to read it. I will say that I think Hickman's run falls off HARD after he wraps up the Negative Zone plotline. And I LOVE the Negative Zone plotline, I think it's really a crowning moment in Fantastic Four canon, but Hickman doesn't seem to know what to do with his run after that point. And I love the roommate issue, it's given the Spideytorch community so much, but I genuinely do think we would have been better served exploring Johnny's emotional state after his two year long death and resurrection cycle, and that was mostly left for other writers to deal with after the fact. Which is kind of the flipside of Hickman's greatest strength -- Hickman is just, like, utterly great at blowing stuff the fuck up. You cannot hand that man a fictional universe he wouldn't gleefully explode and it's great, I love that, I love watching him blow stuff up. I think he really gets into the destruction of fictional realities in a wonderful way that gives you lots to think about. But in the case of his F4 run, there's this weird period between wrapping up the Negative Zone plotline in his first Fantastic Four run and his other Fantastic Four comics (his New Avengers run and Secret Wars (2015) are Fantastic Four comics) where he doesn't quite seem to know what to do, emotionally, with the fallout of everything he set up. Which is disappointing! His depiction of grief in the wake of Johnny's death is so powerful, and I love the message about LOVE (what saves the Fantastic Four and by proxy the world? LOVE) in his FF runs, but he doesn't seem to know what to do with it in the in between issues. That being said, I think the last issue of his FF run, the one with Franklin, is just a triumph. It's hard to be overly negative about the pacing problems in the wake of that, but they are there and I do think they should be addressed.

The moonlight gleamed through your living-room window, curtains blowing from the wind pushing through the window.

You laid sprawled on your back, leg draped over the back of the couch as you flicked through channels aimlessly on television, the walls changing colors with every change of the channel.

Munching on your snacks, you checked the clock: 11:43pm. You blew out your mouth, returning to flicking through channels, bored out of your mind.

That is, until your cellphone rang, vibrating against your glass coffee table. You sat up and picked it up, looking at the name on the screen.

Smiling at the name, you picked up the phone immediately, listening for his voice.

“Hello? Urban? HELLO?” You spoke, waiting for any answer, but heard nothing but silence.

Suddenly, you heard Jack’s voice coming through the speaker, taking in the conversation they were having.

“Bro, just tell her how you feel.”

“It’s not that simple Jack.”

“How?! I don’t get the issue.”

Putting two and two together, it finally clicked in your head as to what was happening.

You had been butt-dialed.

You debated on hanging up, however, being the nosy person you are, you continued to listen to the conversation, wondering exactly who Jack was referring to.

“The issue is… is that I can’t tell her.”

“You’re not giving me a valid reason here.”

“My statement is valid.”

“No it’s not, it’s a fucking excuse.”

“It’s easier said than done Jack! What if she doesn’t like me back!?”

“Urban, are you serious? Have you seen the way she looks at you? It’s so fucking obvious.”

At this point you were confused. Who in your circle would like Urban? Sure, there were other girls in your circle of friends, but none that would be that close to Urban.

Well, that you knew of.

Urban was your best friend, he told you everything. So why wouldn’t he have told you this?

“You gotta be bullshitting me because I don’t see that shit at all.”

“Of course you don’t! The two of you are so immersed in one another that you’re both fucking oblivious. I mean seriously, come on.”

“That’s easy for you to say, Jack. What are you, Peeping Tom?”

“Peeping Tom?”

“You heard me.”

“No, I’m just confused on who the hell Peeping Tom is.”

“He’s you, since you stay peeping in our business.”

“How is it “our business" when the two of you aren’t even a thing? Tell me Urban, do you like her forreal forreal, or is this a hit-it-and-quit-it type situation? Cause you and I both know damn well that Y/N isn’t into that shit.”

You froze, a ringing sound flooding into your ears. Jack had said your name. You. Y/N. Urban liked you? There was no way. He definitely only saw you as a little sister.

“… well tell me what you like about her Urban? Since I clearly don’t know anything.”

“Well, I mean. I just do.”

“No. Tell me exactly what you like about her.” You ears perked up as you listened carefully.

“Well… I just… ugh. She’s just.. Y/N. She’s herself. I mean, she’s caring, helpful, and understanding. She puts all her heart into the things she does. Like, remember when we worked on that project for you? She looked so concentrated and focused on making sure it got done, and that you liked it. And she’s passionate, like when she talks about that one hobby she likes and gets flustered? It’s adorable. And her smile, her laugh. How she just walks into a room and it just.. lights up. And how she talks to me and cares about me. How she always asks if I’m okay, and what I’ve been doing, specifically. She’s just, so attractive in every way in my eyes, the shit’s crazy Jack.”

“Damn… I didn’t know it was like that. Well, now you really gotta tell her.”

“How?! What if she doesn’t like me, what if it ruins our relationship?”

“I doubt it will, considering that I know she likes you.”

“Well, I’ll have to hear it for myself from her.”

At that you hung up the call, moving quickly from the couch. Dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie, you swiftly slipped on your sneakers and grabbed your cellphone and keys, headed out the door.

Once you got into your car, you quickly drove over to Jack and Urban’s place, making it 10 minutes faster than your usual time.

Placing your visitor’s pass in the window, you moved through the building, the desk man knowing you well enough to let you in.

You swiftly entered the elevator, hands shaking in nervousness and excitement as you pressed the button to their floor, foot tapping with anticipation

Before you knew it, you were outside their door, landing three firm taps to their door.

Jack was the one who welcomed you in, embracing you.

“What are you doing here this late?”

“I came here to see Urban, need to tell him something important.” Pushing by Jack, you moved to where Urban was sitting in the living room, eyeing his silhouette from his place on the couch. He turned his head to look at you, eyeing you with his beautiful blue eyes.

“Y/N, what are you doing here? It’s l-“ Before he could speak, you moved into his lap, kissing him passionately. He was stunning, lips still against yours. Yet, before you could pull away in confusion, his lips moved with yours, his hands moving from your ass to your hips, bringing you closer.

As you pulled away, a trial of saliva followed your lips, the both of you breathless from your transaction.

“Urban, I like you, I’ve always liked you. Fuck, not like, love. I’ve loved you for a long time, and still love you, more than a friend. And I’m sorry it took up til now for me to do something.”

“No Y/N, I’m sorry. I just didn’t have the guts to tell you and I-“

“PUSSY.” You heard Jack from the background, you looking over Urban’s shoulder at the tall man, Urban’s head whipping around to clap back.

“Shut the hell up Jack!”

“Yeah yeah, whatever. I told you so. How’d you even find out Y/N?”

“Urban butt dialed me.” Urban moved to his phone at your statement, eyeing his call log to see that he, indeed, had called you.

“Well fuck.”

“It’s all good though, cause now I know.” You smiled, rubbing your nose against Urban’s. He kissed you once more, moving your hips slightly against him, pulling a moan from your lungs.

“Take that shit to your room man, I don’t wanna hear that.” Jack groaned out, to which you let out a yelp and a laugh as Urban smoothly picked you up and moved the two of you to his bedroom. He shut the door with his foot, tossing you on the bed as he moved to hover you.

He kissed you again, this time with more passion, his lips soft against your own. He began moving his hips into yours, drawing moan after moan from you.

Moving down to kiss your neck, he sucked on the fleshing, marking you as his.

“Mine, you’re all mine. Fuck Y/N, you’re all mine.” He moaned out as he kissed you deeply once more. Your legs instinctively moved to wrap around his hips, your body moving along with his as you ground your hips into one another.

You pulled his head down, this time marking his neck, bruises slowly beginning to appear on the skin. He leaned back on his haunches, tugging at the hem of your shirt as if to ask permission to take it off. You nodded your head, lifting your arms up as he removed the hoodie, revealing that you had no bra on.

“Fuck Y/N… is this all for me?”

“All for you Urb, all for you. Baby, please touch me.”

“What did you say, I didn’t hear you.”

“Fuck, Urban, please touch me.”

“Say less.” And at that he attacked your chest, leaving hickeys on your collarbone and breast. He moved to your nipples, lapping at the pebbled flesh while he massaged the other. You whined at action, hips moving against his thigh to give you some sort of relief.

“Fuck, that’s right Y/N. Ride my thigh baby, make yourself feel good.”

You continued at your movements as Urban pulled away to remove his shirt, his plump lips meeting your breast once again. You clawed at his back, moans getting louder each minute.

Then, you heard Jack call out.

“YALL ARE TOO LOUD! CAN YALL FUCK TOMORROW WHEN I'M NOT HERE? PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU!” You and Urban both burst out in laughter, your antics stopping at Jack’s statement.

“YEAH, WE’LL STOP.”

Kirby always had a strange fascination with the occult, so when he started hearing constant radio noises around, he figured that some kind of entity might be trying to communicate with him

He knew that a lot of the self-proclaimed ghost hunters and ghost busters often used radios to communicate with the creatures from the beyond, so first thing in the morning he decided to order a very old school looking radio from an antique shop

When it arrived, plugging it in Kirby messed with the dials so that it would be on the same wavelength as the signals

“Oh dearie, what might this be?”

Alastor, whom was currently in the world of the living hunting wondered as he felt an unfamiliar radio signal

Paying it no mind, he continued with his pursuit of his latest victim

Soon, he started receiving message from whoever was responsible, though they were very strange to say the least

There were numerous voices cut together forming sentences, a clever way for Kirby to reach out without having to use his voice as he was unable to talk due to severe traumas in his life which ended up restricting his ability to speak quite a bit, but more about that later

Sniffing out the source of the signal, the deer demon decided to observe Kirby for a bit

It was a long, long time since someone reached out to him and talked to him WILLINGLY and without fear, even the Hazbin Hotel residents could not deny they felt uneasy around someone of his caliber

It was more than obvious Kirby’s life was a mess, it reminded Alastor of Angel Dust’s situation with Valentino, and he was more than ready to exploit that

Sending the little human a message offering his services, he expectantly awaited his reaction and soon enough, received a confirmatory response

Appearing in his modest apartment, Kirby stared at his “saviour”

He looked nothing like he would imagine a demon to look like, especially with his cute little antlers and fluffy ears and tail

A deal was formed soon after

In exchange for Kirby’s soul, the deer demon had to get Kirby out of his abusive situation using any means necessary

Looks like human meat was back on the menu for today

Teleporting back to Hell, Alastor strode towards the Hazbin Hotel looking forward to showing everyone his new human pet

If by taking his soul Alastor meant right after Kirby got a taste of his newfound freedom, he might have thought twice about making this deal or, more like made it specifically known that his soul would only be for taking after his death (which would have to not be caused by Alastor)

But a deal was a deal, there was no going back now

At least the people at this strange hotel seemed nice enough, though they first assumed Kirby’s unwillingness to talk to them to be rude at first, but thanks to a good old pen and paper they were able to understand his situation and to communicate just fine

Angel Dust felt instantly protective of Kirby as he could relate to him the most, knowing just how loathsome such a lifestyle is and what it does to a person’s psyche

Charlie welcomed him with a warm smile and open arms while Vaggie was glaring daggers at Alastor, standing between you two and pointing her trusty spear at his throat, cursing at him in Spanish about the repercussions and dangers of bringing a human to Hell

Niffty was quick to introduce herself as the “maid” of the hotel with a polite handshake and evident excitement in her eye

Husk stayed at the bar, observing the situation while downing a bottle of cheap booze

He seemed to be the most laid-back guy around here, so Kirby naturally gravitated towards him for a drink while the cat demon offered to indulge him in some stories of his life as a human in order to avoid awkward silence

The little human was a handful for sure, sulking over his unfair deal with Alastor, sneaking out in order to discover the ins and outs of Hell, partying and drinking way too much (in Alastor’s opinion) with Angel Dust and Husk, arguing with Vaggie over your intentions with the hotel and running around like a pair of goofs with Niffty

Maybe, just maybe it was more than Alastor bargained for

Perhaps he will just get a collar with a leash to get his new human pet to not run around like a fool, getting constantly either lost or in trouble

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months and slowly but surely, Alastor picked up on the fact Kirby was slowly starting to express himself not with a paper and a pen, but with his own voice

It started with small hmm’s and ohhh’s, gradually turning into single words as responses until it fully bloomed into short sentences

His voice was but a gentle whisper, yet it was tremendous progress from his previous muteness

But Alastor soon found out he wanted to be the only one who would be blessed to hear Kirby’s voice and just hearing him address anyone else made his blood boil, smile wavering

Yet he knew kidnapping was not an option as he noted Kirby only graced those he trusted with his words and doing such a thing would break the already delicate trust the two had

So there are only 3 possible options

First one, Alastor gets over his pettiness and accepts the fact he’s not the only important figure in Kirby’s life (VERY unlikely)

Second one, Alastor kidnaps his little pet, breaking his trust and reverting to being mute (he’ll resort to this only as a last option)

Third one, manipulation (the most probable option)

And oh boy is Alastor good at manipulating others

He’ll expertly manipulate him like a puppet without him even realizing it to the point where in his mind, there will only be Alastor

And since Alastor is the only one he needs, there is no necessity for the others now, no?

“Oh dearie, don’t you think I should be the only one deserving of that delectable voice of yours?”

Sir Pleiades: Ultimately Immortal (which is basically a fancy way to say he cannot die ever no matter what and will even survive the Heat Death of the Universe), he's kind, caring, elegant, but really cocky and boastful. He can be scary serious when he wants and is kind of a mad psychopath, but he bottles all his anger up to look 'normal' and so he mostly appears as a very calm individual. He deeply cares about those whom he holds close to his heart and is willing to take any risk for them. Also teasing is his love language (both platonic and romantic) and, being a Demigod, he possesses multipurpose stardust magic (he can use it for object summoning, self-healing and even some brief variant of teleportation) and has a super strong sense of intuition and instinct.

Blossom Dee: Mute tiny little gremlin <3 she's canonically 8cm tall and an eternal toddler, and even though she can't speak herself, she understands others perfectly and can write basic words out using flower petals; she's also able to pick up on social cues quite well. She loves sweets and often has huge sugar rushes (not that she ain't already hyperactive herself, mind you, she's already an energetic little creature as is HELPPP). She loves sitting on people's heads (most of the time you'll see her sitting on her big bro Ades'); she also loves making friends.

Miss Dulciana: Just a regular mortal lady, she's pretty into daisy flowers and has a gorgeous singing voice. She's sweet, loving, but pretty peppy and playful. She has a purse, but doesn't carry it around often, because the top skirt layer of her dress has pockets beneath it. She's an absolute disaster at baking, but she has her fun in trying, at least. She's also tried learning Crochet, but gave up when she accidentally tangled her hands in the yarn and undid her entire work while trying to pry them free. She taught Pleiades French and learnt Japanese with him. :)

Taranza: Unpopular opinion about them

I'm not sure if I have any unpopular opinions on this boy. He's one of my favorite characters, and a lot of popular headcanons I enjoy or agree with. I don't like when he's reduced to just "depressed", but even I have done that in the past before and I'm not sure if it counts as an unpopular opinion.

Taranza: Deepest darkest secret they won’t even admit to themselves

You won't have him admit this ever, but he's terrible at dancing. If he had legs, he would have eight left feet. This is a secret that most people can tell just from hanging out with both him and constantly-dances-after-completing-something Kirby. But a lot of Taranza's friends just don't wish to tell him the truth, as he always seems happy dancing and even talks about how he's learned from the best in Floralia. At least he enjoys it.

Taranza: Favorite holiday

This is 100% me being biased about my own culture. But it's Dia de los muertos. It's celebrating the missed and there's always marigolds around. He loves it.

Taranza: Their happiest memory

You could easily say his happiest memory is one featuring Joronia. And I would agree, they're probably up there. But nowadays? His happiest memory draws back to a time the Star Allies were celebrating their defeat of Void Termina. Taranza was in the corner for most of it, but a lot of the allies constantly praised his skills or just made conversation with him, like Susie and Magolor. The relief of saving the world and joy from everyone else definitely got to him. His new friends aren't so bad.

Susie: Deepest darkest secret they won’t even admit to themselves

A part of Susie still admires her company's old ideologies. Being hammered in that robotics is better than everyone can't be erased thanks to one day, after all. She doesn't mechanize planets anymore (unlike what a mistranslation says), and she does use her company for good. But sometimes a thought enters her mind about lower lifeforms. Ones she pretends not to think about.

Susie: Scars

Love the way you think anon. Susie definitely got some scars from Another Dimension. There is no way she spent her childhood there without a single scratch. She definitely got eye damage from some lasers. Maybe a couple burns on her hands from some faulty inventions of her's after joining the company. I also imagine her hands have been completely replaced with robotic parts, so that could be a scar too.

Susie: Most annoying habit

Annoying not for Susie, but to everyone around her. She talks like a coworker would talk to you. Overly friendly to the point you gotta wonder if she's being paid to be nice to you. That's just how she is, a result of being a secretary for a while. A lot of others find this annoying about her, or question her sincerity.

Susie: Their guilty pleasure

Susie definitely enjoys some trashy romance stories. Those stories with definitely not healthy relationships, made toxic for the drama. She likes to laugh at them (and also idolize the more romantic parts). She also loves true crime documentaries.

Susie: A memory they’ve blocked out

ALL of Another Dimension has been blocked out of her memory. Her choice too. She probably found a way to delete it out of her memory files. It was a lonely, scary time for her. One that Magolor understands a lot. And to her, there's no point of remembering it.

Magolor: A canon or headcanon hill I will die on

I don't care what RTDLDX says, Magolor has halcandran genes. He has too many similarities with other halcandran citizens, and even ancients like Hyness. I like to say that his "didn't come from Halcandra" to mean that he did not grow up there. I spent too long with Magolor being a halcandran, I am not giving that up. For me specifically, I see him as not fully halcandran. But he still is.

Magolor: If the had a tumblr what would it look like?

Magolor would have a troll account. He would purposely say hot takes just to piss people off. He would advertise his shop/theme park in reblogs. All the Star Allies would have him blocked. He has a sideblog just for posting pictures of the Lor Starcutter featuring Marx.

Magolor: Something guaranteed to make them smile/laugh

Anything the Lor or Marx would say, really. He finds the two's sense of humor very amusing. Even a kung pow penis from Marx would make him wheeze out loud.

Magolor: What they really think about themselves

Magolor genuinely thinks he would make a good overlord of the universe. He's smart, he understands what it's like to be weak, he has good ideas! He would be a good king. He has given up taking over the universe, but he still thinks he would have done a good job at being an overlord.

Magolor has a bit of an ego, he sees himself highly. Is it unbearable? No, it's been knocked down after RTDL. But he still thinks he's great. And he's sure everyone knows.

So I was randomly going through some old notes of mine and I found some old Kirby headcanons, specifically about the orbs (by which I mean like, Kirby, Meta Knight, Galacta Knight, etc), and I thought some of them were pretty neat, but I found this one thing that I thought was funny, specifically “Galacta Knight does not speak the same language as the other characters due to him being sealed away for thousands of years, so nobody understands him and he doesn’t understand them”

I mean, as far as I’m aware Galacta Knight has never talked in the series, so I suppose it could check out, but just the thought of it is funny to me. Like he’s speaking an ancient language and nobody has any clue what he’s saying, and likewise Galacta has no idea what’s going on because he can’t understand anyone

Kirby isn’t jealous of their relationship, kind of! It’s a whole complicated mess. To clarify before I begin I am an Aro-Kirby truther and many of my headcanons have been robbed from the Kirby guy(Kaissauce) who u can find easily 99% of the skirfluff posting were my post and his.

TLDR: Kirby is upset at being 'replaced', doesn't understand why Shadow Kirby 'deserves' Prince Fluff, and Shadow Kirby is still being an asshole to him.

I won’t go into all of it but Kirby, before they start dating, sees Skirby as a lot of things. An insociable, rude, blunt, ungrateful, hateful, self-loathing clone of himself. Big emphasis on CLONE OF HIMSELF. He thinks he has it easy since nothing is actively threatening the mirror world, and the only thing he really has (from his view) to be sad about is DMK dying. But he was super evil anyway so yeah. Skirby also hates him in turn, and they kick each other’s shit in every other month or so.

Prince Fluff is, however a dear friend of his. Not his closest but he's definitely important to him, especially since Prince Fluff is also kind of a lonely guy with not a lot of friends like Shadow Kirby.

So when they're friends at first he's kind of happy for them, until they start getting actually close. Seee here's the thing. While Kirby can handle not being someone's top priority, or that someone wouldn't go to him for certain things, he can't handle that happening with Shadow Kirby. It makes him absolutely confused and angry, since what does Skirby have that he doesn't? In his mind he's automatically a better friend than Skirby, especially for Prince Fluff, since they have a lot more in common.

Also having to essentially share Prince Fluff's time when he tries to get them to get along is agony, since when he and Skirby inevitably argue/fight and Prince Fluff often takes Skirby's side. Before they start dating the fact that it's Prince Fluff is barely a factor, it's just Shadow Kirby having a similar role in one of his friend's lives.

HOWEVER once they start dating everything gets wayyyy worse. It comes with a lot of fun confusing questions and new wounds. Here's a list:

Why can Skirby feel romantic feelings when he, the original and REAL Kirby, can't. (Is he faking it for since he doesn't want to hurt Prince Fluff, or (he doesn't really think this, but it crosses his mind) is he just playing Prince Fluff for the benefits? Is something wrong with Kirby for not feeling romantic feelings?)

What does Skirby have that makes him more worthy of Prince Fluff's time than Kirby's? Why does Shadow Kirby get to be a bigger priority in Prince Fluff's life? (He's also taking away Kirby's time with him, since Fluff is naturally going to spend more time with his boyfriend than his friend)

Shadow Kirby and Prince Fluff dating makes them a team, often poised against him as they don't take kindly to people trying to get between them or split them up.

Skirby basically stumbled into dating a very nice Prince who could do a lot better without going through any trials or tribulations. While Prince Fluff has to put up with so much for little return.

Skirby is actively rubbing salt in his eyes by shoving their relationship in Kirby's face.

Also edited to add he, in a way, feels entitled to Prince Fluff since he's more real in a sense than Shadow Kirby. Also they've known each other for longer, and Skirby didn't safe Fluff's life. This isn't something Kirby has fully realized himself, since if he did even he'd realize that's fucked.

Shadow Kirby is replacing him. While he and Prince Fluff weren't romantically involved, he was one of the most important friends in Fluff's life. Kirby isn't used to being replaced by anyone, let alone Shadow Kirby.

SO essentially their relationship causes a lot of problems for him. And every time he sees them happy together it reminds him of those stinging, open sores. Even though he probably is happy that Prince Fluff is happy, it makes him envious.

Also a tiny tiny part of it is, for Prince Fluff's sake, Shadow Kirby starts acting like the bigger person. Which is usually Kirby's thing when they have disputes. He also generally starts developing a healthier view on their relationship as being a clone/not clone, while Kirby is stuck in the past thinking of Shadow Kirby the same way because it's easier to him.

Them being homogay directly challenges his views on the mirror world, his friendship with Prince Fluff, and his own identity. So yeah while he's probably a little supportive sometimes and can look past his issues with Shadow Kirby to be happy for Fluff, those times are the exception and not the rule.

He gets better with time but it takes. YEARS of avoiding the problem and making things worse by arguing with and killing Shadow Kirby (i just ended a 2 year relationship don't worry it wasn't mine).

Bandee realizing that the world is Wrong because no good, just world would let Kirby be so, so miserable... the heartbreak of him being powerless to stop Galacta poisoning Kirby's worldview, because to directly interfere is to doom them all... the way that he does everything in his power to support Kirby and tries to protect his heart (1/4)

rest under the cut just due to length. just general excitement and responses to the content of the asks, some minor mentions of lying/psychological manipulation.

i'm also super thrilled that you see and understand the bandee-centric vision. seeing this written out so transparently by someone else as though it was straight from my own hand was a really fun experience!! he is a loyal and heroic little dude... he loves kirby so much! save an entire timeline for his best friend? he WILL do it, no matter what!!

it does drive bandee nuts and hurts him so bad not to be able to talk about any of this with kirby directly, but galacta knight is paying such extremely close attention to kirby at that point that if bandee tried any harder than he did during that café scene, it would definitely get back to him and the jig would be up.

and indeed, kirby is directly parroting stuff galacta knight has said, word for word. it's hard to tell but some of kirby's dialogue is even in a tweaked colour (vibrant galacta knight hot pink, rather than the warmer kirby pink) to help make that clear. it's like... not what kirby would ever say or even really think, which is what makes it so sinister.

galacta knight is, as you said, poisoning kirby's worldview; and with it, kirby's legacy itself. by the time star allies occurs and they are trying to combat the effects of the jamba hearts, the citizens of dream land are not pleased when the great hero kirby shows up to help them. they're terrified

simultaneously, as you correctly pointed out, he's also damaging kirby's view of bandee. not directly bad mouthing him or anything, because he figured out that didn't work early on, but galacta knight himself certainly thinks that bandee is weak and expendable, so it's easy for him to feed that fear in kirby. especially because kirby has lost so many other friends to 'dark matter' at this point

especially because bandee is indeed all kirby has left

you absolutely hit the nail on the head with regards to the end of that café scene. it was incredibly intentional phrasing on galacta knight's behalf. he didn't even bother telling that to bandee who is- at this point- the last waddle dee in dream land. just "they're invading."

it's not even necessarily untrue; they were coming to take the waddle dees! but galacta knight can absolutely rationalise many things to kirby, at this point, by saying it puts bandee in particular at risk. he can and does weaponise their friendship, especially in the later stages of the au

we cannot afford to delay when faced with threats, kirby, not everybody is strong like you. mercy could get someone killed. make sure you train so, so hard, kirby, to protect the people you care about. make sure you make him train hard, so he isn't viewed as the vulnerable target he is.

make sure you act decisively to keep him safe.

and if something were to 'accidentally' happen to bandee... well that would probably just confirm everything galacta knight had been saying all along.

The Ultimate Story the Beginnings Chapter 21 Cont.

They continued on. Buttercup: “So, Lisa, how exactly do you plan to make these guys your new Gym Leaders? They don’t have any Pokemon.” Blossom: “Buttercup’s right, not to mention that they lack the experience of true Pokemon Gym Leaders.” Lisa: “Yes, but they did learn how to train Pokemon like expert trainers, yes? I just need to help them build their experiences and then they will be able to run their Gyms of my unique set-up. Time is short and the situation desperately calls for it. Everything that we do will play a very important role in this Ultimate Destiny.” Buttercup: “You keep saying this “Ultimate Destiny” thing since you were still training to perfect your powers. What is this already!?!” Lisa: “Patience, Buttercup. Everything you will need to know will be revealed when the time is right.” Buttercup: “Oh! You’ve got to be kidding me!! You keep saying that and we still have no idea what it is!! Just tell us already!!!” Blossom: “Buttercup, calm down. Lisa has already told us that there’s much that even she doesn’t understand, but you have to at least trust that she knows what she’s doing.”

Buttercup folded her arms in frustration. Buttercup: “Hmph! Whatever!” Misty: “So, this Ultimate Destiny, is it really far too complex for you to even talk about at the moment?” Lisa: “Yes, I’m still trying to figure out some of the details, but I do know this; it involves a truly massive battle that will decide the fate of the entire universe; something that the magical beings have been involved with for many, many eons. There will be many tough battles ahead of us and we have to be sure that will win all of them. Whatever comes our way, he have to be ready to take them on and we must do whatever we can to make certain that we will triumph against all of them. Let us proceed forward.”

They went on to where they stood before her students. Lisa: “Attention, everyone. It is so good to see all of you again, but I have called all of you up on a matter of great urgency. We are on about to start an important journey in facing against an evil force that threatens our lovely little home planet Earth. I am needed to collect some magical stones in order to aide us in doing so, but it seems to me as though I have also been tasked with finding another who will take part in this Ultimate Destiny that all of us will be a part of; a Pokemon trainer and one who does not possess any magic within their blood. I was told that I need their help in finding the stones, but I know better than to believe that is the only reason. I need your help in preparing this trainer to partake in this Ultimate Destiny that I have blathered on about. I was told that no trainers in this place called Kanto are travelling because all of the Gym Leaders are closed, so I plan on making each of you Gym Leaders to temporarily take their place. I only need 8 for the task. I will pick out each of you and then select which of the 8 towns or settlements you will be representing."

She looked to each of her students as she announced her decision one by on. Lisa: "Fox, you will represent Pewter City. We hope to find your friend before we are able to reach you. Mario, you will be placed in Cerulean. You can set up a nice cloud fortress to where you will set up your Gym. Kirby, you will take your place in Vermillion City. There is a nice port to which you will have a lovely view from anywhere in the skies above the city. Captain Falcon, you will have the honor of one to represent Saffron City. I hear there is a hi-tech building with warping capabilities. Link, you will be set up in Celadon City. I hear green is quite trendy there. Donkey Kong, you can have Fuchsia City. There is a lovely safari for you to set up your Gym there. Samus, I will have you set up on Cinnabar Island. It is secluded, much like you. And finally, Ness, you will take Viridian City. You are to be the final opponent for our chosen trainer. You shall now each pick out your Pokemon and I will have you build up your Pokemon training skills until you are ready to become my new Gym Leaders.”

And so, they got started on the process.

Each of the 8 students selected their Pokemon and began their long training with them. Misty: “So, how long do you think they will be on this training regiment?” Lisa: “These things do not last very long, so I will only need a few days with them.” Misty: “So how affective are these uh...teachings of yours? Can they really be trained up within a few days?” Lisa: “I know from experience that it is possible. I can channel years of teachings within a few hours. I can have them come close to being close to Pokemon Masters by the time these few days are up.” Misty: “Whoa...that’s incredible...! So, they will be more than ready.” Lisa: “Yes, however, not many fairies are able to do that. Only a few of the most knowledgeable variety are powerful enough to conjure up such an incredible endeavor. Someone my age could probably do it once every 1000 years. I have reason to believe that I was not given this by chance. Something major is going to happen and I have to make sure that everyone will be ready for it, no matter what needs to be done.” Misty: “Lisa…I never…expected…anything…like this…” Lisa: “Yes, neither did I, but such is part of fate and it will decide what we need to do next. Oh, one other thing. There is something that I forgot to give you.”

Lisa reached into her bag, Misty looked over towards her as she rummaged through her bag. She then pulled out what appeared to be a thin book and handed it over to Misty. Lisa: “This is for you.”

Misty took the book from her. Misty: “A book? Lisa, what is...uh...” Lisa: “It’s something that I’ve had for a long time. It seems to contain some sort of...mystic secret within its pages. I have yet to unlock those secrets. Maybe you can.” Misty: “Mystic secrets? What could it be?” Lisa: “I don’t know, but I can sense out an immense magical aura within that book. It seems to be housing something very important. I hope that you will be able to find out what that is.” Misty stared at the book for a while, puzzled.

Within a few days, they return to Professor Oak. Lisa: “Professor. We’ve done it.” Prof. Oak: “Ah, welcome back, everyone. Uh, what exactly have you done?” Lisa: “We have been able to find some replacements for all of the Gym Leaders in this region.” Prof. Oak: “You have? Uh, how...were you able to manage doing that, Lisa?” Lisa: “Let’s just say I know several people who are willing to fill in the missing roles.” Prof. Oak: “Yes, well, I would like for you to fill me in on a lot of the details regarding these...other people that you know.” Lisa: “Certainly, I would love to tell you everything that I know about this.”

And so, Lisa went on to explaining to the professor all that she could about her hand-picked Gym Leaders. He seemed a bit perplexed by this, but overtime, he was able to understand much of the details. However, he seemed to have been much more comprehending of the details than expected. Soon enough, the Pokemon League was reopened and the professor got on to preparing to deliver the starter Pokemon to the new trainer starting out.

Meanwhile elsewhere, Ly and Polokus stood beside each other. They seemed to be looking out at something. Ly: “It seems the wheels of fate are turning.” Polokus: [“Yes...it truly has begun. Lisa has but commenced the first epic journey of this Ultimate Destiny.”] Ly: “I just hope that these chosen participants will succeed where we have failed.” Polokus: [“Do not dwell on this, I mean sure, we may have not have been able to prevent such a terrible catastrophe, but we were blind-sighted by the corruption that has befallen all of these worlds. We will not fail this time. I believe that with all my heart.”] Ly: “I can only hope so. Lisa foresaw much of the anguish that we have endured. Although she has yet to comprehend everything, she was able to fathom much of what would be to come. It’s nice to have such fresh, new faces to take part in this. The losses caused by the Darkness are greatly immense and it has taken a toll on all of us. One such loss takes a great toll on me most of all, especially since he was....”

Ly hesitated as she closed her eyes and dropped her head. Polokus: [“I understand your pain, but it could not be helped. At least you were left with much. The loss should not be too great.”] Ly: “Yes, I can feel that everywhere, but the sadness from the loss has caused my restoration to be very lingering. I need to meditate just to maintain my strength.” Polokus: [“Still, you have yet to recover? I know you have been through a lot but has it really taken that much out of you?”] Ly: “You must understand, the agony from my loss exceeds my own physical wounds. We nearly lost everything. We were fortunate enough that we acted as quickly as we did.” Polokus: [Yes, indeed. This journey will test the friendship and loyalty that of all those involved and those that will be involved. They will need them to face these difficult battles.”] Ly: “I know...I just hope that our new friends will be ready for all of it when the time comes. Lisa has done wonderfully to teach them what they need to know for the moment, so I feel that when the time is right, they will face the many challenges ahead.” Polokus: [“Yes, I believe that my loyal subordinate shall aide in our cause.”] Ly: “Yes, he has indeed proven himself worthy for our cause. I...expected nothing less from your sole kin.” Polokus: [“Of course, my only existing kin...my dear boy...you have done me proud, but you know very well that there is still more to come and much more to face. I need you to continue helping the cause...aide our young heroes.”]

Ly and Polokus continue to look after Lisa and her team as they began their next journey. There were sure to be many challenges ahead and many secrets to uncover. They have yet to scratch the surface of what they will be facing.

This is truly a story that began many stories.

I’m prolly not the first person to think this but. Okay okay so I hc that. Meta Knight helped Kirby with his talking, reading, and writing

When Meta met Kirby he was mildly annoyed that it was hard to understand Kirby since you only understood like half of what he was saying, and the majority of his vocabulary consisted of poyos

It wasn’t until after the events of Meta Knight’s revenge did Meta do something about it. He kind of just learns Kirby can’t read nor does he have proper education about speech and just snaps and goes “Fine. If nobody else will do it then I will.” And basically tries his best to at the very least teach Kirby the basics, like y’know reading books to him and having him spell out words both verbally and on paper. (He also partly did this to kind of make up for the whole trying to take over Dreamland thing.) Meta Knight attempts to teach him both Spanish and English, but oddly??? Kirby is quicker to learn Spanish terms and such than English ones

Even though he’s learned things, Kirby still insists on having “poyo” as a major part in his speech-?? If that makes sense-?? It’s still a big part of his vocabulary. Also when he speaks he tends to be very blunt and to the point. Simple and easy sentences with little elaboration, so to speak. I wouldn’t say he’s a suuuuper quiet kid but I wouldn’t call him a talker either. Either way, Meta helped so good for him

When Kirby is talking(ignoring the poyos) I also like to think he speaks like how Temmie does in Undertale idk why but it just suits well to me

SUSIE:

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

Why WOULDN'T I like Susie? She's my special girl. Honestly, the story of how I really fell for her is kind of funny TBH. When I first got into the fandom, even after playing Robobot, I didn't pay her TOO much mind. I gave her some thought, especially in the context of my Underworld Friends AU and her father's history with her, but it was nowhere near the levels of brainrot I have now.

But then one day something just kind of... clicked for me. I was like "Hey! Taranza (Who I was also not that invested in at the time) and Susie have pretty similar stories. I bet they'd make really good friends. I should write something about that!"

And so I did. (Although I never technically finished it). And I got super invested in those two, both as individuals and as a duo. It's interesting just how intertwined my love for them is. They're characters I got invested in simultaneously. I was a Taranza & Susie fan before I was a Taranza or Susie fan, and I think that's fun.

But of course, with time, I've come to actually love both characters more in an individualized context. That was just the thing that initially instigated the madness for me.

I love the tragedy to Susie's story. I love her complicated backstory and her even more complicated relationship with her father. I love all of the weird body horror cybernetics stuff I can explore with her and just how easy it is to depict her brain as like... exceptionally weird. I love the fact that she retains some whimsy even despite the horrors. I love the fact that she's one of the only Kirby characters with a gun.

I tend to have a soft spot for morally gray female characters who a lot of people have a weird distaste for, so I was always probably going to love her TBH. It's just in my nature.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

I answered this one in another ask, so have this GIF of Susie posing cutely over the word "Fatherless" instead of an actual answer.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

I could give the obvious answer of "people are way too hard on her and while I understand some discomfort considering the themes of Robobot people definitely interpret her as way more evil and irredeemable than the relatively lighthearted, ultimately hopeful children's' game series ever intended," but that feels like too much of a copout, so let me talk about something else people to.

Or... don't do, I guess?

I hate hate hate when people like... make Wave 3 friend group content and leave her out then slot like... Marx or whoever in instead. Like I know there's no technical canonical friendship between pretty much any Kirby characters, and therefore there's not an actual dynamic between her, Magolor and Taranza people are Ignoring, but all the same it feels like there can be a deliberate attempt from people to avoid wanting to include Susie in their content.

And I think I'd feel differently if these people were portraying the Super Popular Male Characters as hanging out with other girls like the Mage Sisters or whoever instead (They're also technically a part of Wave 3, you know!), but they don't. It's not overwhelmingly common, to be clear, but there's definitely still a Thing where people will exclusively focus on male characters and making them interact with each other instead of bothering to incorporate female characters into any of their group dynamics. And I guess that's more of a complaint about wider fandom sexism as a whole than just Susie herself, but... idk, man.

I guess I'm just saying that if the only Kirby characters you're invested in and make content of interacting is the guys because the girls are either all "too evil" like Susie (Is she that evil compared to her peers?) or "too underwritten" like the Mage Sisters and pretty much the rest of the female cast (It's Kirby. Everyone is underwritten), then you probably have some unconscious biases to address and maybe try to rectify. Because I don't like it and it annoys me.

Mark. His obnoxious whimsy drives her mad.

(Obvious answer aside, I think she also doesn't get along with DMK. And I think she has a very contentious relationship with both the Mage Sisters and Elfilin at first, although she eventually gets over both. (I know Elfilin isn't technically a Dream Friend, but to me he is. He's like... a part of the group, y'know? The only reason why he's not a Dream Friend is Forgotten Land didn't exist at the time Star Allies came out. He's a Dream Friend in all but name.))

TARANZA:

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

Taranza has approximately two traits in canon, however, I love them both. This guy is INSUFFERABLY pompous, dramatic and prideful, and this guy LOVES HIS EVIL WIFE. He even has a tragic backstory. What more could one possibly ask for?

Also he's just... like, really cute. He has maybe my favorite design in Kirby. That helps too.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

As much as I bitched about how some people don't do it earlier in this post, there are just as many people who do utilize the Wave 3 group dynamic to its full potential and it's always some of my absolute favorite Taranza content. Buddy's at his best when he's with his pals.

Also, call me a basic bitch, but I still think the divorce/dead wife jokes are funny. Like... not if overdone/made into all that he is, but in a vacuum? Yeah, that shit's hilarious, sorry.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

Sanding him down to make him a palpable softboy. I think Taranza is ultimately a good person, but I think he can have an ego sometimes (Yes, even despite his trauma and any insecurities said trauma may have left him with) and can get caught up in things. He's willing to do anything for the people he loves to a dangerous degree, regardless of the harm it causes anyone else. If I see one more person portray him as an innocent victim in Triple Deluxe as opposed to a nuanced, morally gray character I'm going to go outside with a hammer and start smashing tomatoes with a rock. He DESERVES to have flaws.

Also I hate how many people either make his entire personality Sectonia or neglect her importance to him entirely. The latter annoys me more thought because I am famously a #womanhead. It makes me so fucking angry when I see people like... completely ignore his history with her and one-dimensionally reduce her to either his evil abuser or a perfect angel of a love interest he needs to Get Over so he can mash faces with another character they like more. I'm not saying I hate the idea of Taranza moving on, because I don't, but the sheer disrespect most people show Sectonia with the way they write it is like. Staggering. Do better.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

I don't actually really read fanfic (I'm more of just a writer), but when it comes to Marx depictions in general, I don't like how most people tend to take him too far in one direction or the other. I feel like people either make him some kind of #lolrandom complete sociopath who only lives to like... exist as a plot device to torture other characters in a way that's exceptionally unfunny or as a sweet, just kind of goofy guy who's not actually that bad, both of which are boring. My favorite Marx depictions portray him as someone who presents himself as a deliberately provocative edgelord but cares deep down and really just wants attention.

26. Who would be his favorite prank target?

Dedede, Bandee, Coo, Susie, Elfilin, and, of course, Kirby, all make excellent targets depending on what exactly he's planning to do.
