🍭 He left, just up and left you and your infant son without saying a simple goodbye. And it stung, it stung you for the rest of your life. Your son asked about him whenever he found it fitting, in which you just gave him the basic info in which you knew of him at the time, which is rarely, if ever, changed. And until your death, you never saw him again.
🍭 You just enjoyed your afterlife alongside your son and your old close friends until the eldest Valkyrie sister came to speak to you of a battle that was being held against the gods.
🍭 Ragnarok.
🍭 Of course, you refused to fight them, you weren’t fond of getting violent for barely any reason besides keeping humans alive.
🍭 Instead, Brunhilde asked you to oversee the contestants to make sure certain ones didn’t get the wrong ideas. And you agreed, knowing certain ones from the talk around your palace in Valhalla.
🍭 At the time, you were watching the still healing Sasaki and Jack when you heard the announcement coming from Heimdall’s horn down on the battlegrounds. And you would never forget the words that echoed through the land.
“ I’m gonna fight for mankind. Ya dig? “
🍭 They sounded so familiar, yet so distant.
“ If the gods aren’t gonna save mankind, then I will. And if any god gets in my way… I’ll kill ‘em. “
🍭 It was your husband, the one who left you and your son in that palace centuries ago. But you couldn’t think to yourself for long before the obnoxiously loud cries of anger from the gods interrupted said thoughts.
🍭 “What is the matter with you?! Why would you, how could you betray us?!” One yelled.
🍭 Buddha sighed and held the horn up to speak, allowing Heimdall to sigh and stand beside him, giving up from jumping to grab the instrument.
“ I care for my kind, some more than others, even if I never showed it when I should have most. And I’m gonna make up for that here and now, if anyone has a problem with that, well, oh well. ”
🍭 Your heart fluttered, knowing what he had meant.
*Let’s skip for after the fight, as fighting is not my thing to write*
🍭 He was all bruised and bloody, his long hair draped behind his back as the air moved it swiftly away from his face. You stood up and began to run to the healers after he was rushed away, fearing the worst, though you didn;t show it, not wishing to worry your son and fellow humans.
🍭 Seeing his state in the healing room was gut-wrenching, but you knew you needed to do this now, or else you’d regret it like no other time. Knocking on the door, you trudged in after hearing his light ‘come in’.
🍭 It was now or never. And you picked now.
“ Hello there, my dear. ”
🍭 His eyes widened as he turned towards you. Your voice was one he would never forget in millions and millions of years.
🍭 “Y/N? Is that really you?” He asked, eyes straining to stare at your form. You walked carefully to the healing god, a smile spreading farther across your face with each step. You had looked at his face, still youthful as ever.
🍭 He was still your husband.
🍭 “Yes, it is me, love.” You replied.
🍭 He smiled, laughing as he watched you grab the side of his face and hold it towards your’s.
🍭 “You haven’t changed a bit, have you?” He asked.
🍭 “No, and you haven’t either, seeing the stunt you pulled down there, going against the gods and all.” You jokingly answered.
🍭 “Well, we have a lot to catch up on, now don’t we?” Buddha jokes.
“ Yes, my love, we do… ”

The Yagasuri Panel's Meaning + Gojohime and Sprituality
Hello, everybody! I know I've been gone for the past two years but I'm finally back. With the release of the latest chapter I've been incredibly devastated but it still won't stop me from being delusional! Since there has been a lot of talk surrounding Gojo and Buddha, I've been doing some research, and I think I found something that potentially draws us closer to the meaning of the famous Yagasuri panel :)
CHAPTER 236 SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
As a quick refresher, the pattern displayed in the background of Gojo and Utahime is a traditional Japanese pattern called yagasuri. According to the sources I found on the internet, the arrows are related to archery, and thus were a common pattern on male clothing. The design represents the unwavering nature of an arrow because once it is shot, it will never return. Brides in the Edo period wore the pattern as a symbol of good luck, ensuring that they will not have to return to their families. Additionally, in Buddhism, the arrows embody the fight against evil.
There are a few interesting things I'd like to point out about the information above. For one, from all the pictures I've seen, the arrows in the yagasuri pattern are typically pointed downward, whereas in the cover, they are pointed from Gojo toward Utahime. Two, the pattern's relation to Buddhism and Buddha. Since there are many parallels to Gojo and Buddha, I went on a quest to research more about the story of Buddha (Prince Siddhartha) out of my own curiosity. What's fascinating is that supposedly in his early life, he won his wife, Princess Yasodhara, in an archery contest. They were married at an early age and had a newborn son when Prince Siddhartha was 29. Unfortunately, he leaves his family behind to embark on a journey toward enlightenment.
Aren't these details crazy?
Buddha's wife was a princess. Utahime means song princess/diva/songstress.
Both couples share a connection with archery/arrows.
Gojo is currently 29 years old in the manga and is theorized to reach enlightenment soon (assuming he truly is following the path of Buddha).
BUT THERE IS MORE.
Apparently, Yasodhara has been Buddha's wife for many lifetimes. While there are numerous stories of the two's history in their past lives, the one I'd like to bring attention to is from The Collective Sutra of the Buddha's Past Acts. The text recounts the first time Prince Siddhartha comes into contact with Yasodhara in a previous life as a Brahmin (Hindu priest) by the name of Sumedha, while she was a woman named Sumidha. As he waits for Buddha Dipankara to arrive to the city of Paduma, Sumedha decides to buy flowers as an offering. He then discovers that the king bought all the flowers as his own offering to the Buddha, much to his dismay. But in the corner of his eye, he spots a beautiful young girl with 7 lotuses in her hands and offers to buy one from her. The girl, Sumidha, vows to give 5 of her lotuses to him in exchange for being his wife in all of their next lives. In another version, Sumedha and Sumidha went to a city where Buddha Dipankara was expected to visit. He then asks her for one of her flowers to throw as an offering to the Buddha. She then asks him to throw another one in her behalf. Buddha Dipankara summons the two and reveals that they will remain connected for many lifetimes and help each other attain enlightenment.
Tumblr media
In the latest chapter, we see a panel of lotuses. From what is visible, there are 7 flowers. 7 flowers? 7. Flowers. I also think it's a funny coincidence how Sumidha promises to give Sumedha 5 flowers due to the fact that we associate Gojo with the number 5 because of the kanji in his name.
Just like Prince Siddhartha and Princess Yasodhara, I believe Gojo and Utahime are connected by fate. In the manga, whenever Utahime appears, it is almost always in relation to Gojo. They are made to contrast each other in almost everything besides motivations. Their color palettes, the schools they teach at, their values, and positioning in the jujutsu hierarchy. These are not coincidences.
And yet, despite all these differences, there seems to be a mutual level of trust between the two of them that transcends their usual bickering dynamic. Utahime has no obligation to help Gojo, but she does anyway. She CHOOSES to help him because she understands they share a common goal: protecting and nurturing the students. On Gojo's side, he CHOOSES to request a helping hand from Utahime first. Out of all people, he wanted to reveal his suspicions to her first. While Utahime provides assistance when she can, Gojo looks out for her when he can.
He claims that it is a pain to look out for the weak, but he continues to protect her. Gojo and Utahime put their lives at risk helping each other because they TRUST each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If my theory is true and it turns out that they are connected by fate, it would explain the unusual direction of the yagasuri in chapter 34. No matter how many lifetimes have passed, the soul of Gojo will always return to Utahime, just like how Sumedha promised Sumidha that he will marry her in every life. And the soul of Utahime will remain assisting him toward the journey of enlightenment.
I'm not saying they're married or anything but their relationship honestly parallels Prince Siddhartha and Princess Yasodhara so well. Although both of their narratives appear to culminate in the man's quest for enlightenment, they nonetheless serve as compelling illustrations of the power of a relationship founded on mutual trust.
___________
I might add on to this post later on if I feel like I missed something, but let me know what you think! :D These reaches are my specialty so be sure to take it with a grain of salt and don't take it too seriously. It's all in great fun :3

'The Temptations of Buddha' (The Temptations of Buddha), 1921 Eduardo Chicharro Agüera (1873-1949) Gautama Buddha was the prince of Kapilavastu, son of Suddodhona, king of Shakya dynasty. He is believed to have been born in 563 BC. From a premonition that Siddhartha (Buddha’a childhood name) would leave home to become a hermit, the king father prevented his son from experiencing any sufferings in society. But as fate suggests, Siddhartha saw corpse, illness and old age and this changed his life forever. He left home and his wife Yasodhara and son Rahul behind in search of the truth of life. He took to being disciple of several hermits and learned meditation. However after years of trying and suffering he was not able to achieve enlightenment by sheer sacrifice and self mortification. He realized that the path to enlightenment was neither of self indulgence nor self mortification. He decided to try the path on his own and started meditating for final 49 days under the famous Bodhi tree. Buddha is supposed to have attained enlightenment. He attained complete insight into the four Noble Truths to achieve emancipation.
India was predominated by Hinduism, a religion where the people lower in the class were considered to be lesser and not meant for achieving mokshya (enlightenment) or even practice dharma. Buddhism, a religion based on the tenets of Buddha treated all to be equal. This was a direct disruption of the existing faith. Centuries after his death Buddhism spread from India to China and several central and east Asian countries. Today it is one of the powerful religions practiced by 535 million people (roughly 10% of world’s population). It is different from other conventional religions. It does not mention about god being the creator of the universe. Instead it lays out Four Noble truths, the Noble Eightfold path and five precepts that will help a person to achieve spiritual freedom.
Buddha experimented with his own life. He dedicated his life towards the cause of finding ultimate truth, sacrificed his kingship and family life to bring a revolutionary change about the way humans live and think. For a period of 12 years he faced extreme hardship in the harsh wilderness trying to find the meaning of life. He exposed himself to starvation seeking this truth. He learnt from the learned in his path to enlightenment. Ultimately he succeeded in finding his truth in his own way. He is the only man known in modern history who succeeded in achieving enlightenment.
To me Buddha is the earliest evidence of bringing social disruption. At a time when modern science had not yet started taking shape, Buddha sought and found truth by looking inside. He devised a new technic of finding emancipation. He disrupted the society and forever changed the way humans look for truth. He gave a roadmap to millions of people through the last two millennia how to seek happiness, peace and truth from within.
Today meditation and seeking for peace inside is prevalent in every walk of life. It is becoming a corporate culture, an integral part of society and also a pathway to happiness in many household. It was Gautama Buddha who showed us a channel and an innovative way to looking at life. Scientists believe that mediation brings multitude of positive changes to us and our brain. Meditation improves wide range of will power skills. It changes both the structure and function of the brain. Society is starting to explore more the treasure hidden in the findings that Buddha explored two thousand five hundred years ago.

Tangerine clouds dance across a red sunset. The gentle breeze of spring blowing through Valhalla. Yasodharā smiled as she walked through the tall grass near the Bodhi tree. She had never ventured to this area of the afterlife before, the scenery feeling tranquil, reminding her of something she couldn't quite put her finger on.
But as she rounded the tree, she was immediately filled with deep regret. Laying in the grass is the god of enlightenment, carelessly munching on candy, eyes locked on the sunset.
He hasn't seen her yet, she should run before he notices her, but she can't. Her body frozen, eyes filling with tears. Her heart beating in her chest like a scared rabbit.
Thousands of memories flood her senses, making her chest hurt. Yasodhara feels like she is going to be sick. But her eyes were unable to look away from the god.
And after a few more moments, she was unable to stop her lips from moving on their own. Calling to her former love.
“Siddhartha…”
The candy he tossed towards his mouth completely missed and disappeared behind the tree. That voice.. soft like a spring breeze. Pleasant, airy just like how he had always remembered it. But it seemed to carry a dark undertone, like hearing it had thrown him off a cliff and surrounded him with sharp rocks. But he let it ring in his head, carried it from side to side. It did put a gentle smile on his face, her saying his name took him back home. He got up from his lounging spot, having to see for himself if his mind was not playing tricks on him. Was she truly.. there?
Once up straight he turned all his attention to the woman in the field. The sunset warming her face and his own back. It was something he actually never deserved after he ran, the warmth he had given her and so abruptly taken away. He was following the sun’s path, trying to reach what he was searching for. But right now, she was once again merged with his path.
“Yaso.. just as beautiful as the first day i met you. And the last day i left you.”
She was just a couple steps away from him. But he couldn’t move, he could only look at her. Admire her from afar like he always used to do.
“I never thought i’d see you again, what are you doing here?” He says a little hesitant while bringing his words, knowing very well he’d gotten them to where they are now. Torn apart, lost, and the god knew she has every right to resent him.

Hello Buddha! I hope this isn’t a sensitive thing to ask but what’s your relationship like with yasodhara after all these years? Do you still keep in contact with her and rahula?
I have no connection to them, I don't even know where their spirits have went to when they died, I have my speculation but I don't visit them, however I do still care for them.
I don't visit them, simply because I know that they'll never recognize me, plus I'm pretty sure that my wife is pretty mad at me and I don't wanna face that.

The story of Arahant Yashodhara
Lord Gautama Buddha was born as Prince Siddhartha Gautama in a region of the Indian sub-continent which is supposed to be the present day Lumbini in Nepal. He was born on the full moon day of May in the year 563 BC. His father named Suddhodana was an elected chief of the Säkya clan whose kingdom was around India-Nepal border with its capital named Kapilavatthu. His mother was Queen Mahâmâyá who was the chief consort of King Suddhodana. Following the death of Queen Mahamayã, her sister Maha Prajapati, who was also married to King Suddhodana, was made the chief consort and became the foster mother of the prince. Prince Siddhärtha enjoyed the education and the luxuries that were available to a royal prince at that time. The king made arrangements for the prince to receive all aspects of education and skills that were necessary for a king. Prince Siddhärtha, who was very bright was able to master the education as well as the skills such as martial arts and the use of arms and weapons that were needed to become a king in the future.
Within the Buddhist literature, Princess Yasodharä appears to be known by several names. In addition to Yasodharä which in Sanskrit means "Glory bearer" ("yasas" means glory and "dhara" means bearing), she was also known by other names such as Bimba, Bimbä Devi, Bhaddakaccanã, Râhula Matha and Rähula Theri. She may have been called Bimbä Devi as she is supposed to have had a beautiful golden coloured skin and similarly Bhaddakaccanã means the "Auspicious Golden One". In the Anguttara Nikaya (collection of the Buddha's numerical discourses), she is referred to as Bhaddakaccanã in relation to her foremost position in super normal powers. It has also been speculated that within the palace of King Suddhodana, she may have been called "Râhula Matha" as she was the mother of Prince Ráhula. Princess Yasodhara was born in the Koliya city of Devadaha as the daughter of King Suppabuddha and Queen Pamita. While her father was a chief of the Koliya clan, her mother belonged to the Sakya clan. In fact, Queen Pamita happened to be the sister of King Suddhodana and hence Princess Yasodhara and Prince Siddhärtha were cousins. In their region, the two families were considered as the two highest and wealthiest families and as a result there had been frequent marriages between the two families. Princess Yasodharä's brother was Devadatta who ordained as a Buddhist monk along with a few other Sakyan cousins such as Ananda, Anuruddha, Bhagu and Kimbila. Unfortunately, Venerable Devadatta became an enemy of the Buddha and tried to kill the Buddha on a few occasions. Similarly, King Suppabuddha had also developed a hatred towards the Buddha for having abandoned his daughter to become an ascetic. It is said that on one occasion while under the influence of alcohol, he had blocked the path that the Buddha was walking on the alms round and had died seven days later to be reborn in the hell. It is difficult to find any information about the princess during the period of her growing up until the occasion of her marriage to Prince Siddhartha.
When Prince Siddhartha was sixteen years old, his parents decided to look for a bride for him and as per the custom in a royal household, a celebration was arranged to invite prospective brides to be presented to the prince. Many eligible young ladies from all over the country were presented to the prince but the prince showed no interest in them and sent them away with gifts. However, when the Koliya Princess Yasodharã presented herself, she caught the prince's eye straightaway who took off the pearl neckband he wore around his neck and placed it around her neck to indicate that she was her choice to be his bride. Her father King Suppabuddha initially objected to the marriage for two possible reasons. Firstly, he knew that the wise men had predicted that the prince might one day leave the household life and become an ascetic. Secondly, he thought that the gentle prince has not had any training to be equipped with manly skills such as skills in riding, archery and warfare. However, following a tournament participated by the best sportsmen from all over the country in which the prince excelled in all the competitions that he contested, King Suppabuddha agreed to give his daughter in marriage to the prince. It is stated that when their wedding took place in the city of Kapilavatthu, the citizens participated in celebrations lasting for seven days. It is difficult to find any information about the married life of Princess Yasodharã andPrince Siddhartha. She was of course the chief consort of the prince and it is said that there were many other young ladies too who were presented to the prince by the noble Sakyan families. As a royal couple, they must have continued to enjoy the luxuries of a royal household including the three palaces called Ramya, Suramya and Subha with beautiful gardens that were built by the king for the prince to stay during the hot season, cold season and the rainy season respectively. It is evident from the Buddhist literature that the prince was not allowed by the king to have much dealings with the outside world for fear of witnessing evidence of any human suffering.
When both Prince Siddhärtha and Princess Yasodharã were 29 years old, the princess gave birth to a baby boy. At the time of the baby's birth, Prince Siddhartha was away in a garden contemplating about leaving the household life to become an ascetic to find a way out of human suffering. So, when he heard that a baby son has been born to Princess Yasodharã, he has stated that it was a fetter or an obstacle (Rahu) to his spiritual mission. It is said that when King Suddhodana had heard about Prince Siddhartha's statement about the baby being an obstacle, the baby was named "Rahula"
Following the renunciation of Prince Siddhartha, Princess Yasodhara continued to reside in the palace of King Suddhodana and brought up their son Prince Râhula. It appears that she has continued to take an interest in the developments in relation to the ascetic life of her husband. When she heard that her husband has shaved his head, and was wearing simple yellow robes and has given up using perfumes and garlands, she did likewise. When she heard that he was having only one meal a day and was sleeping on a low, hard bed, she too had only one meal a day and slept on a low, hard bed. When her own family and other relatives offered to maintain her, she refused their offers and when several eligible princes offered to marry her, she rejected their proposals.
Around one year later the Buddha's enlightenment, King Suddhodana heard that his son whom he has not seen for seven years, has become the Buddha and was residing in the Bamboo Grove monastery in Rajagaha. He wished to see his son and sent numerous delegations with an invitation to visit the king in Kapilavatthu. However, nine of the delegations had become Buddhist monks after listening to the Buddha's teaching and had not conveyed the invitations from the king. Finally, the king sent a delegation led by a minister called Kaludayi, who was a childhood friend of Gautama Buddha. He also became an Arahant and ordained as a monk after listening to the Buddha's teaching. But unlike the others, he conveyed the message to the Buddha, and persuaded Him to visit His aged royal father.
When the Buddha visited Kapilavatthu, the members of the Royal family and other Sakya relatives visited the Buddha and listened to dhamma. Next day when Yasodharã looked out through the window, she saw the Buddha walking in the streets of Kapilavatthu. She wanted to show and describe the qualities of the Buddha to Prince Rahula who has never seen his father. While showing the Buddha, his father, to Prince Râhula from the balcony of the palace, Princess Yasodharã uttered the verses contained in the Lion of Men verses. In the collection of the verses, she has described mostly the noble physical characteristics of the Buddha along with the serenity and purity of the Buddha's mental qualities. All the ladies of the palace went to see the Buddha but, Princess Yasodharã remained in her chamber. She thought to herself that if she had any virtues at all, the Buddha will visit her. The Buddha asked the king where she was and when the king said she was in her chambers, the Buddha visited the princess in her chambers. As soon as the Buddha arrived, Princess Yasodharà rushed to the Buddha and fell to the floor. She held the Buddha's ankles, placed her head on the feet and kept crying until the Buddha's feet were wet with her tears. The Buddha had asked others to let her cry as much as she needed to and not stop her. Then King Suddhodana informed the Buddha how virtuous his daughter in law has been, staying loyal to her husband and how she emulated the life style of her husband as an ascetic during the six years of the Buddha's struggle to gain enlightenment. The Buddha acknowledged her virtues and devotion to Him not only in this life but in previous lives too. The Buddha informed her about the great merits that she has accumulated from their former lives together, and that her devotion, purity and support was invaluable to him as a Buddha aspirant (Bodhisatva).
