I imagine once Teba hears Revali insulting Ilia, even though with her he doesn't do it to be quite as mean as he is with Link, he won't take it well. I've never played AOC but I have seen the cutscenes and Teba was like "Wow, the Great Revali was a complete ass..." but once he hears him insulting someone he sees as his daughter he'll lose all respect he has for him, unless Revali does something to make up for it. Teba: "Ilia's as much of a hero as Link is Master Revali! How dare you insult her!"

He wouldn’t lose respect for him as a Champion, he would just go full dad mode on him. He already knows he insults Link and is kind of an ass in general. Teba just has to do some parenting. 🤣 He’s already adopted Revali as his rebellious teenage son thirty seconds into meeting him, after all.

Teba will pull the, “I’m not mad, just disappointed,” card and Revali will immediately feel the guilt and regret. Que Revali struggling to force out an apology and not actually being able to say it so he just teaches Ilia some new bow tricks instead.

Baby steps, Revali, baby steps. He’ll get there, lol.

i don't really like when people say dungeon meshi is accidentally good autistic representation, because while i understand not wanting to make conclusions without explicit confirmation from the author, there's always the weird assumption that non-western authors somehow don't know about things like neurodivergency/queerness/etc. (on top of the assumptions that east asian authors are somehow more naive or oblivious to "western" social issues).

given that dungeon meshi started being published in 2014, it's not really a "work belonging to its times"—it's as contemporary as any other media we discuss on this site, which means it should be fair to assume it engages with contemporary topics (and at the very least, you shouldn't say that the representation is accidental with so much confidence)

but anyways, the chapter "perfect communication" in ryoko kui's "terrarium in a drawer" is some of the most straightforward autistic representation I've seen, and from now on I'm going to assume that laios's character writing is absolutely intentional in that regard:

It's honestly crazy that discussion around testosterone HRT skews so much towards the beginning stages of it (to the point that you have dozens of guys thinking their transition is "failed" if they don't pass by like a year in lol) and what the initial changes of the first couple of months to years look like, like the classic laundry list of those early basic changes like bottom growth, voice drop, etc, when IMO literally none of that compares remotely to the depth and intensity of the long term total masculinization you start to experience like 3-5+ years in.
