Now Wilbur in the beginning wishes he could've done this without violence.

And then y'know...things escalated and that changed drastically.

You had been an adoring face for ages to the General and imagine his surprise when the one he loved nearly vomited at the sight of a gash along his cheek

"Darling?! Darling are you okay?! Is it the blood? I can go wash it off really quickly!"

No it wasn't the blood you would confess

It was that you couldn't stand the thought of him going out and fighting for his life and passion.

You would explain and things would twist.

Wilbur would turn to more negotiating terms much to Tommy's dismay

An agreement would be reached on shaky terms and bows and swords would be at the ready.

An unsteady treaty with fine lines and disagreeable terms on the L'manberg side but it kept things at ease for a long while. A while enough that Wilbur could figure out a way to finish this cold war quickly.

Needless to say the word ‘war’ is used and war always means violence, which you did not like.

Wilbur was careful in his attacks and being the clever fellow he is was able to manage independence under the guise of many many zombie, creeper, and even skeleton “accidents”

Wilbur would go to any lengths for those and that of which he loves, and if that means hiding a few bombs and traps behind unknowing enemy lines then so be it.

Alivebur (AKA Vil!bur)

He loves you no doubt

And he hates it when you despair and worry and fret and blah blah blah

It makes his gut turn and his head pound

He knows there’s no other way to finish this. No other way to “save” L’manberg

He’s ready to give it all up with whatever it takes

Wilbur wishes you weren’t like this

He wishes you didn’t choke on air when you smelled gunpowder and blood on his clothes

“I know baby, I’m sorry, please forgive me.”

He tells you this so much it might as well be tattooed on his tongue.

Then he finally blows it all up and he does it right to your face.

You don’t grieve for him very long as the reminder of his violence drowned away and built over.

Ghostbur (Follows Vilbur)

Ghostbur doesn’t like violence much either and is constantly agreeing with you

It’s strange and wonderful how different Ghostbur is from the Wilbur you knew

“Let’s look away okay? Here come play with Friend for a bit and I’ll come get you when it’s all over!”

You followed him to Logstedshire (I hope I spelt that right) and endured the days and nights that Dream visited while you and Ghostbur did as well

You helped him forge the compasses and couldn’t help but think:

Maybe Wilbur dying was the best thing that could’ve happened for you.

It isn’t long before you and Ghostbur are in a relationship

One that didn’t fight but talked out their issues

One that communicated and avoided conflict, even if it meant burying it in the past.

“What’s worse, hearing BadBoyHalo say fuck or blowing up an entire nation?”

Now when THIS happens? 

“I did what?”

It isn’t long before Quackity is on your shit list. A dislike of violence isn’t a dislike of hate

It takes about a week to get Ghostbur out of that stupor and even then he’s fingering blue and apologizing for the littlest things.

Simpbur/Yanderebur

Alright, you don’t like violence?

He invites you to play racing games and simulations

Animal Crossing on nights you don’t want to go out and flowers and take-out in the park when you do.

Simpbur knows the world is pretty violent and the fact you dislike it makes his bones tingle every time a stranger cat calls or wolf whistles at you down the street

He’s very discreet with his dealings and tends to sneak away vigilante style when he has a target pinned.

“I’ve just got to run to the bathroom love okay? I’ll be back in a bit.”

Comes back with torn knuckles and a cut across his cheek.

Of course in situations like this sometimes violence is unavoidable.

Hello, Ghostbur. It’s me again. Alivebur, if you will. 

It’s March 10th. A week away from a month since I last spoke to you. I thought I’d give you another little update

Tommy and I started another little business venture. We sell estrogen now. It instantly works instead of a gradual process. There’s not even any side effects

We’ve even got a building set up for it. Tommy built this massive cock in the middle of Las Nevadas for it

Actually, do you even know what Las Nevadas is, Ghostbur? It’s Big Q’s country that he built. It’s a fake desert with scorpions that he imported himself. Isn’t that bloody ridiculous? Imagine wanting your facade of a country to be real so bad that you hand pick scorpions to import into it

Anyway, despite all that, I’m actually in Las Nevadas with Big Q right now. He once told me that he asked you to live with him, and you said no. This time, though, I said yes. It’s been nice here, way better than anywhere else we’ve lived. Well, except L’manberg, but...you don’t need me to tell you that lol

He was right. Sally’s there. He’s talking to Sally! He bristles at the other one’s conviction. He’s very much real, thank you very much. Just as real as him. Just as entitled to life.

There’s a pause in matrix and then.

A longer pause and then,

... Why do you hate him so much?

I don’t … hate him. It’s more … he shouldn’t exist. I look at him and he’s … wrong. He shouldn’t be there … And he’s so soft. And weak. And everything I — I guess I do hate him. A little.

Ghostbur scoffs, but his eyes are glued to the screen. So, this is what he thinks. Well, the feeling’s mutual.

I look at him, and I see me. I see the me I was crying alone in L’Manberg when nothing was going right. The me in … in Pogtopia … fuck you don’t even know about Pogtopia … probably better you don’t … when I couldn’t let Tommy see how bad things were getting. Let’s say that.

Ghostbur remembers Pogtopia. Or he doesn’t. He doesn’t know. It sounds nice.

He’s the worst me. The me I don’t want. The one I left behind and good riddance. And now he’s been in Limbo for … fuck I don’t even know how long, and it’s like … he’s become part of it. Fusing with it somehow. I don’t know. That didn’t happen to me … maybe it would have if I’d stayed longer … My worst enemy tied to the most horrible place I’ve ever been …

Ghostbur looks down at himself sadly … yeah … he can’t remember when the blue began to grow into this … thing surrounding him. Sometime after he just gave up, lying against the wall, not moving, blue leaking from him like a hemorrhagic wound, somewhere between the second and third decade, the spores had begun to grow and sprout around him. He didn’t pull them away. What was the point. If he closed his eyes he could almost imagine it was Friend’s fur. He misses his sheep …

The matrix is lit up again. He looks up at it. Hungry for any new information.

I had to kill myself to get out of the dream this time. I stepped in front of a train.

So that’s how he did it …

... That's scary … But he seemed really sweet when I talked to him. Sweeter than you, anyways.

… He remembers this …

When … when did you speak with him?

It was short. I mean, it was kinda freaky so I didn't really ... You know. But he was really soft. Kinda cute.

He remembers … he remembers her. She was so nice … not like he … she was kind to him …

But when, what — where?

A beat, and then,

Did you like him better?

Ghostbur snorts. I bet she does, he thinks viciously. I bet she hates you.

I dunno -- when he was with Fundy? It was only for a second...

Recently?

No, idiot, when you were dead...

Ha. She called him idiot.

And you liked him?

I mean, he was fine.

He watches desperately for her to elaborate, but in vain. It seems their talk of him was over.

So Alivebur is scared of him.

Interesting.

He starts pulling at the bonds tying with more vigour.

He will be free again.

He will see sunrise.

Dear Reader reading this, if you're still interested in lore, I've come to this stark realization that the song Other Side Of Paradise by Glass Animals, is a song written for our favorite happy ghost Ghostbur, and his alive counterpart.

Or SPECIFICALLY, its a song sung to Ghostbur through the lens of c!tommy.

This post is also a tad long and i spent a lot of time on this. This is also one of my favorite analysis that I've done yet, so i hope you enjoy as well :)

Starting simply, firstly the song has this line like,

An obvious symbolism here right? Baby blue, goodbye to you, i wish you understood what exactly is happening here but unfortunately you're too much of a ghost to do.

These lines talk about alivebur. Between the wars, the betrayal, the burden of presidency and his own mental state, c!wilbur got caught up in it all and it very much started killing him. Also the 'the sun you blow into' is a very vivid Icarus symbolism in my head. Like yes c!wilbur IS Icarus if you think hard enough right? c!tommy tried to hold on to him as much as he can, hold onto the c!wilbur from when they were happy and just them, as if, if he doesn't hold hard enough, he might just run.

Ohhhh you have NO idea how mentally ill this line makes me like ueueueue, c!tommy wanted to live safe and sound and at peace in lmanburg, with his friends and family, with his brother by his side. Instead all he got was a ghost of that said brother. But he did not hate that ghost though. He wanted a paradise, but he was just forced to settle for a ghost instead, Which he did. Also it ties wonderfully into the Burger Van Paradise wilbur had don't it? Because in that one vod, c!tommy is the one who says the phrase "this is like a paradise!!" while looking at las nevadas. which i can imagine was why c!will decided to name it paradise in the end.

Though i dont really agree with calling c!wilbur crazy, i feel like ither than that these lines fit perfectly. c!tommy did miss wilbur. No matter what pain he brought to him and evryone else, wilbur was still missed by this boy. 'camera lust' could be read in two different ways. One, is that it was this faux, artificial, and unreal dream that's build on these half-baked facts. C!wilbur believed everyone were out to get him. While they all DID get betrayed by a fair amount of people, most of his thought process before Nov 16 were built on paranoia and self loathing, his mind playing tricks on him. He went 'crazy' on those thoughts, you could say.

The second way of reading into this is the Chekhov's Gun. C!wilbur had a habit of inserting himself and the people around him into these very story-like ideals, calling them the Good Guys and Bad Guys and describing his ideas as the Chekhov's Gun. He was lusting of the 'camera' that saw these people as characters, while chasing pipe dream of pure faux reality.

This is c!tommy at his core right here. It's basically that conversation he had with Foolish in that one stream. c!wilbur had given up, and had stopped trying on so many things. He's given up on his loved ones, he's given up on his l'manburg, his self worth, and even on himself. But c!tommy hadn't though. He never gave up on wilbur, and he frankly never, ever will. 'That girl is gone' could be both ghostbur and L'manburg. The hamless ghost is long gone now, and yet he's still here, trying on wilbur's behalf. L'manburg was gone a long time ago, yet he's still here, trying on behalf of wilbur. Inspite of alllll that had ever happened between then, c!tommy is still trying.

Finally though, these are lines that i feel really hit the most:

I don't even think i need to explain these lines it's such a beautiful fit to them both no matter how you see it and it perfectly encaptures the mental state of that person right before they die. No doubt these are the lines from this song that are most used in animatics sbout ghostbur or c!tommy. It ties it all together nicely, you know, like a bow on top.

I also really like Glass Animals.

💀 - i think it was a super interesting way to develop dream's character and allow for people to come back and do new stuff (i.e. wilbur and perhaps schlatt someday though ive somewhat given up on that :sob: but maybe connor now lmao)

like i think without it dream's hold over tommy wouldn't have been the same following the disc finale; which, if they wanted to end it there, would've been fine, but since they've continued since it makes it that much worse. exile was awful; but tommy escaped. revival isn't something tommy can escape and it means dream has that much more power over tommy. also i just like revival and necromancy and magical shit! i think it's neat! and i think it had a huge (positive) impact on wilbur's character. his first arc from l'manberg to nov 16 was a fully complete story, but being able to grapple with the aftermath of it has been incredible to watch and he's done such a good job.

and i think it creates a really cool dilemma for everyone. like imo the best way for everything with tommy and dream to end conclusively is for dream to die; preferably tommy or tubbo kill him. but the reason they didnt kill him during the disc finale was bc he had something they needed (and also bc him and punz had a plan with the prison). and that led to really interesting development for quackity and sam's characters and even techno's. so im a big fan!

👻 - i think wilbur is a filthy liar (<3 as he should be) and i think we need to remember that not only is c!wilbur an unreliable narrator but so is cc!wilbur. 1. he likes us to suffer 2. he just likes lying. so i don't fully believe him, but i wouldn't be shocked if ghostbur is in the same limbo wilbur was in BECAUSE i think they are fundamentally the same person, however much wilbur (c and cc) insists they aren't. i've had a pet theory since like. november or something that ghostbur isn't in limbo because either he never existed as a separate entity in the first place or bc he and alivebur combined the moment he was revived. i think ghostbur is everything cwilbur wishes he was, and he thinks hes not capable of the same kindnesses nor of receiving love in the same way. but he is! he is a fully complete person deserving of compassion in and of himself, and i think ghostbur is a reflection of that insecurity. so in my ideal world, theres a reveal that ghostbur was wilbur the whole time, appearing from limbo, or that ghostbur isnt in limbo and never was, that him and wilbur are now the same person. i don't know if that's where wilbur is going with it, but i will say i was very interested in the moments the other day when wilbur kept saying things ghostbur would say. very interesting!!!

ahhhh sorry for the essay i could talk about cwilbur for hours. but yeah i dont think ghostbur's ever coming back bc he shouldnt, in my opinion. also, tbh, i cannot imagine it feels good to have everyone beg you for info about the dead, soft, gentle version of your character rather than the one thats alive and messy and imperfect and hurting. like if i was him id be like yeah ghostburs dead forever bye bye you should like this version of wilbur and you should want that kind of love and kindness for him. but maybe thats just me!

🎥 - i really dont understand what counts as seasons tbh like everyone uses it differently so ill just say my favorite era (although i really love them all). i like the current era a lot, mostly bc ive been here for everything prison-break on (i started watching a little over a year ago) but i would probably have to say pogtopia is my fave (sorry i love angst). the drama of hiding away, of them losing everything just after they'd won it, wilburs character arc there is mwah mwah mwah, tubbos arc is incredible, and SCHLATT gd schlatt is such an incredible actor and character. ive been slowly getting through the backlog of big lore moments and by far ive enjoyed pogtopia above everything else.

okay so my theory is. and this is going to be so poorly explained because of the state i'm in but i promise i will try. usually wilbur loreheads get pissy abt pogbur and alivebur being the same person but what if they're. not. and i don't mean metaphorically, i don't mean the whole person changed, i mean what if there was always more than one person in the equation to begin with?

now i know what that sounds like i PROMISE i'm not about to pull the DID theory card. i mean metaphysically, in the sense of having a second soul that's only released when you die, the other soul going to limbo. that soul being ghostbur. and when wilbur is brought back, something that is NOT supposed to happen, some horrible fucking soul transformation takes place in which the soul that was never supposed to leave limbo switches places with the soul (not literal physical places, but places in their realms).

which is why he's so. you know. somewhat deranged, but also why he's even coherent. because if you do what happened to wilbur to any normal human being, their brain would be literal mush. the only reason i can think how he survived is because he was supposed to be down there, or at least that soul was.

and i'm not saying they're two parts of a soul because... well, i think ghostbur and alivebur are complete people. i don't think they're any

just imagine that after the souls get separated when they die, bringing them back is like the process of fusing with your dreamself in homestuck. there that's it

“im too sober for this,” was all you could manage to say when you were greeted with the sight of a very drunk wilbur soot. he gasped with delight when he saw you however, running from tommy to wrap you in a tight embrace. the intense scent of booze that followed him nearly made you gag.

“y/n!!”

you turned your unamused eyes to the blonde boy, who looked just as wary as you felt. “sorry, y/n,” the teen offered guiltily. “i encouraged it..”

“of course you did,” you replied plainly as wilbur pulled away from you, instead starting to shake your shoulder to gain your attention. you looked up at him as tommy began to collect the empty bottles scattered around the old basement.

“woah,” wilbur responded, eyes widening in the slightest when you turned your boring gaze to him. “wow. don’t stop looking in my eyes.” your eyebrows raised with surprise as a goofy smile adorned his face. his large hands settled on your shoulders. “have you always been this beautiful?”

“how much have you had to drink, wilbur?” you inquired as his hands unconsciously began to wander along your arms. your skin felt like it was aflame under his touch, and his flirty comments were only adding fuel to the embarrassed fire sparking in the pit of your stomach.

“no, don’t call me wilbur,” he whined, fingers digging into your arms in the slightest. “call me wil. wilbur makes it sound like you’re upset with me.” you gave him a look and he whined again, “nooo, don’t be upset with me!” you yelped when he suddenly pulled you against him again. you glared at tommy when he started laughing, which he quickly tried to cover with fake coughing. “im sorry im drunk, please don’t be upset with me, y/n! please, i don’t like when pretty people are upset with mee..”

“you’re not sorry for being drunk,” you huffed, lightly pushing wilbur off of you as he pouted tiredly. “you want to know how i know?” he made a noise of curiosity as you plucked a bottle from the ground and offered it to him. he happily took it, looking around for a bottle opener while muttering. you turned to tommy as the distracted drunk wandered around. “you’re helping me carry him to his room.”

You ever think about just how much the name matters to Alivebur? That calling it anything else, even when it's a crater, is rude to it. It's like tying into what his breakdown was all about, the fact that the place he had built was gone and had become the tyranny he had tried to escape from.

So it's L'Manberg, always L'Manberg, because if it's called anything else, it erases the country, and all that it suffered.

When F.L.o.L-Bur loves and puts his heart on the line he does it with full intent of possibly spending the rest of his life with that person so to be rejected/friendzoned would shatter him

Definitely a drama queen if you knock down one of his flirtatious comments

Angel AU Phantombur💀

Plays it off as a joke while secretly dying inside

No like really he starts to decay slowly inside which he has to get drunk on regen. potions to fix

I picture Phantombur kind of like a swan in this instance. They can actually die from a broken heart so to have his Angel deny him finally removes that smug smile off his face

Although he seems perfectly normal to everyone else and seems to brush off your rejection, the whole S.B.I crew knows he's a wreck over it and Philza has to remind him to eat

Ranboo almost burns down the potion shop from Phantombur's absence as he's terrified that you'll walk into the business and he'll have to face you one-on-one again

So. Many. Cigarettes.

Workplace AU Simpbur🌷

The world has ended. It's done. He took a leap of faith and plummeted to the ground

But really Simpbur accepts your decision but that doesn't stop him from openly expressing his affection and still trying to win you over. Some things he keeps to himself

If you can't be his now then he'll make sure you can in the future. Anyone who flirts with you gets a dark look from the lanky, but fairly muscled, guitarist.

All competition is eliminated and soon enough you'll begin to wonder why everyone who seems interested in you backs off until only one option remains. Him.

Then he'll have you and he won't ever let you go. So to summarize, Simpbur refuses to accept you'd deny him so he makes himself the only one who would want you.

Oh poor Ghostbur...

When you told him you'd only love Alivebur and could never be with him in that way it hurt so much

Honestly I imagine him kind of getting into a realm of self-loathing for a split second. Kind of in a scenario of "why can't I be more like him?"

Actually now that I think about it that would make a great Spooky Season piece-

Ghostbur would kind of be a combination of Phantombur and Simpbur in the situation. He would attempt to make himself as much like Alivebur as possible, even going as far as experimenting with explosives once (spoilers: Philza did NOT like that).

Ghostbur would try his best to keep your friendship, your presence. He wants to be near you all the time even if you reject his affection that doesn't stop him from comforting you and giving you blue or lending you Friend whenever you seem a little down.

As of how he seems like Phantombur? Ghostbur would carry on in his duties down in the sewers when you weren't around and try and distract himself from the horrible pain in his chest.

I was wondering if I could request headcanons (or any other format that’s easier to write) where the reader is c!dream’s adopted daughter and how the reader’s relationship with the others would be like considering they’re the daughter of a bad person. Especially if the reader is genuinely trying to be a good person. Sorry if this is a weird request!!

Okay, this is actually the most fun I've had writing one of these in a while! Since the character limit is 6, though, I'll be choosing 6 characters who I think would have the most interesting reactions

*While I usually do alphabetical order, we’re doing the order in which they found out (for coherency sake)

He's the one who found out first

Among Dream’s various books and stories he’s written, one was a letter to you (Dream knew you’d never read it, but writing it made him feel better)

He told the other guards of the prison, no one else, so he’s not sure how it spread through the SMP, but he only told them so that they could keep an eye on you

He didn’t think you would try to break your father out or anything, but under the odd circumstance that you did, he’d want you on file and eyes to be on you already

It really is just a precautionary measure

As more and more of the server find out about it, he can’t help but to feel guilty

Sticks around you for a bit and offers to help whenever he can

As soon as he finds out, he gets incredibly nervous around you

He heard that you were his birth daughter, but, even though that wasn't the case, he wouldn't treat you any better if he found out the truth

He talks about you with anger and frustration, using you as an outlet for the abuse he faced at the hands of your father

Whenever he sees you, though he backs away, his eyes widening

His brain makes up a bunch if scenarios about you harming him, terrified that you'll do the same thing to him

He, generally, tries to avoid you and anyone you associate with

Refuses to let Tubbo go anywhere near you

Tells Wilbur about it all during a stress induced rant

When Tommy told him, he got excited

Even though he’s never really cared much for you, being indifferent more than anything, he’s almost offended that you never told him

The next time he sees you, he acts like you’re literal royalty

After all, you’re the darling daughter of the man who brought him back to life! The man who gave him purpose

Goes to talk to you immediately

Wants to know absolutely everything about you and Dream

He tries to get you to join him and Ranboo in the hamburger van

Doesn't really realize if he's making you uncomfortable about it

If he does and you tell him you are, he'll be genuinely confused

Dream is so amazing, why is it so bad that you're his daughter?

When Alivebur told them, they actually took it incredibly well compared to some of the other people

While they froze for a second, their mind racing, they soon realized that you weren't your father, and you shouldn't be treated like such

They didn't even know their own parents, so why should they base your character off of who yours are?

Sure, Dream was a bad person and pitted them against their friends, stringing them up like a puppet, but you didn't

They don't try to find you to talk about it or even ask the next time they see you

They just leave you be

Does let it slip to Techno, Phil, and Niki during the latest Syndicate meeting

Considering she doesn’t even know if you’re aware of the rumor being spread around the SMP, she’s seeks you out to tell you

She gives you a quick rundown of who all she knows that knows about it and asks for the facts of the matter

Various different iterations of the story had been passed around, so she want to get the facts from you

And, technically, since she's been Dream’s parental figure for many years, you're her granddaughter

She offers to let you move in with her and call her 'Grandpa Puff'

If you decline, she requests weekly meet ups with you to go get lunch or something similar so that she can bond with you and make sure you're doing alright

You may not have your father around anymore, but she doesn't want you to be completely alone, especially at such a stressful time

Uh... What?

He had known Dream for years, even going back to their childhoods, and yet he’s never heard anything about you

While he was one of the last people to find out, he was actually one of the first people to actually go to you about it

He wanted to know if it was true

He tries to be very delicate when asking you about everything, though he most likely fumbles through it

If you're a minor, he awkwardly asks if you want to move in with him in the Kinoko Kingdom so he could properly act as an uncle figure to you

If you decline, he'll give you a quick "you know where to find me if you need anything"

If you accept, he'll allow you to move in with him and his fiance, acting a bit more on the uncomfortable side for, at least, the first few weeks
