Hallo! I was wondering, how did you learn to animate? What interested you in it? What do you use? Even if you don't have the attention span to do it often, I think it's really cool that you can.

I learned from YT animation tutorials. There's tons you can learn from.

I use Clip Studio Paint currently (The version that's better suited for animation I forget which one) and the one I made the Shadow and Dark animation with, but also use Adobe animate (Great for symbols/puppet stuff which I love)

Fire Alpaca used to be the one I used for the videos shown below and that was before they added more features from what I can tell?

Honestly you can animate with anything I just love having a real time audio timeline in Adobe and Clip.

I'm that weirdo who made these, so I've been at it for awhile now. I used to have the patience for longer stuff but my brain is fried now adays.

Learning how to Key Frame efficiently + Drawing good thumbnails/story boards to work off of would be my honest advice for beginners that NO ONE seems to think to mention.

Keyframe advice: ONLY. DRAW. WHAT. IS. IMPORTANT.

You can add in-betweens later don't just GO FOR IT. Keyframe the movement out FIRST THEN add in-betweens. Only major poses to get the movement across you can fill in the gaps later. This seems fucking obvious but uhhhhh. UHHHH. COMMON KNOWLEDGE IS ONLY COMMON IF IT'S MENTIONED TO HELL AND BACK???

Clean readable thumbnails help so much. I have a tendency to just draw scribbles...Don't do that. Lmfao. Moral is low as shit when you can't tell wtf you drew through or are trying to convey with the chicken scratch.

When you're an animator by yourself you are the Storyboarder, the Clean up artist, line artist and effects artist.

DO EM ALL WELL OR THE ANIMATION WILL SUFFER. 😭

Don't let the storyboards be shit it'll fuck the rest up TRUST ME.

Having audio you're willing to listen to on repeat for HOURS helps too.

I was interested in animation because I was a bored 12 year old with too much time on his hands and the need to DRAW. FOR HOURS.

Honestly tho i just love the fact it's smth that impresses people XD

Makes me feel powerful... I can literally draw whatever I want. Such an ability.

The judging seems to be taking a while. Most of the rest of the contestants are waiting patiently, but there's a wild-eyed stallion prancing around the show ring, eyeing up every fence in a way that just screams he's going to jump out sooner or later. Seems like he could have really done with a handler to calm him down.

At last the judge returns to the centre of the ring. The winner is announced. It's...

This is unprecedented. It appears the judge can't choose between Tank and an alpaca with the most luxurious coat they've ever seen.

The crowd murmurs in confusion. What happens now? Someone suggests they'll have to get the judge of the pet show to act as a tie-breaker.

To everyone’s excitement though, pieces of paper and pens are passed around. Looks like the crowd gets to pick the winner between the two!. It’s not a moment later that a volunteer starts walking around with a little box to collect votes in

My Personal Evan Buckley Headcanons

Part 1/?

He’s a public menace to society when showing how much he loves you. He will grab your face and kiss the life out of you when you’re in the middle of a conversation with Hen at the firehouse, he’ll scoop you up and carry you bridal style when you’re just trying to find almond milk at the grocery store, and if the opportunity presents itself, he will 100% be grabbing your ass in plain view of everybody when you’re out on the town together

Buys duplicates of his favorite hoodies but still in the same size so you can still steal them without leaving him without one. Sometimes you’ll both wear the same hoodie accidentally, and the entire Fire Fam pretends to vomit at the domesticity

He loves dancing in the kitchen with you to “Put Your Head On My Shoulder” by Paul Anka at 2 in the morning when he can’t sleep, because holding you as close to him as possible and swaying back and forth helps him calm his crazy trains of thought enough to go to sleep

He buys little cheap trinkets when he’s out because he thinks you’ll like them. You have an entire memento box full of the little doodads he brings you, from mini slinkies to tiny snow globes to tiny stuffed animals that are meant to be hooked on a backpack

You convince him to start journaling to get all of his thoughts out of his head and onto paper, and whenever you see him scribbling away in the little journal you got him, you can’t help but smile to yourself

He tries to take you roller skating for a date exactly once because he almost ends up in the emergency room with a concussion. The poor man is absolutely terrible on skates, and he ate it multiple times until you finally put him out of his misery and made him take you to get milkshakes

He’s just the teensiest bit touch-starved, so if there is an opportunity to put his hands on you (in both everyday and nsfw scenarios), he’s going to take it. Hugs from behind, putting an arm around your shoulder or waist, peppering kisses all over your face, trapping you in a cuddle session on the couch, all the physical affection

He’s allergic to llama wool, but he didn’t know that until the first time he went to a petting zoo in LA that had llamas and he broke out in a rash after petting one. He can do alpacas though, which he thought was weird because he thought they were basically the same animal until he googled the difference between them

He loves doing matching couples costumes on Halloween with you. One year you guys went as Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and it was a big hit (the amount of time you guys spent doing and then taking off your makeup should be a world record)

He’d never admit it, but he loves a good session of “hate-watching”, where you two sit and find the worst show you can think of to just sit and talk shit about the entire time you’re watching. The most recent victim was Dawson’s Creek because he can’t stand how annoying all the characters are. He does love the memes though, and uses the GIF of Dawson's ugly crying face all the time

He desperately wants a dog, but his apartment complex doesn’t allow them. Once you two get married and move to the suburbs (Hen and Karen are your two-doors-down neighbors), he finally gets his dog. You guys adopt a little golden retriever puppy from a nearby shelter and name him Doug, and that dog becomes the goofiest guard dog to your future kids you could ever ask for

He throws things at people when he's bored, but they're usually very harmless things that are more annoying than anything else. TicTacs, chips, pens, socks, balled-up straw wrappers, popcorn, stuff like that. One time he absolutely beaned you with a boba pearl, and it very nearly exploded all over your face. He slept on the couch that night

Everytime he sees you interact with a kid, he gets INTENSE Baby Fever. The younger the kid, the more intense it is. Like, if you guys are watching Christopher for Eddie, and Buck looks over from the kitchen to see you and Chris doing a puzzle or something, his heart swells a little and he gets that fuzzy feeling in the pit of his stomach. When you guys are on a call and he sees you holding a baby while the mom is getting examined by Hen and Chim, it takes every ounce of self-control he has to not whisk you back to your place away from prying eyes, if ya know what I mean *wink wonk*

He is a firm believer in Lazy Sundays, so when the both of you have Sunday off, it takes no convincing from him to stay in bed until noon snuggling (or doing something else *cough cough*). When you eventually drag yourselves out of bed, you don’t bother getting dressed and just veg out on the couch the rest of the day

He knows how to play the guitar, but the only songs he can play are “Wonderwall” by Oasis and “Good Riddance” by Green Day. He’s working on learning other songs, but right now that’s it

Sometimes he accidentally uses your hair products in the shower when he’s still half-asleep and not paying any attention, and then you tease him all day because “I’m the one with the good hair in this relationship, Buckley, quit trying to steal my thunder”. You play with his hair all day though, so he considers it a win

He knows he messed up when you call him by his real first name, because like everybody else you always call him Buck, Buckley, or some goofy variation on “Buck”. But when you call him “Evan”, he knows he’s in for it

anyway i went to a very fun young writers camp last week and i did a fun little doodle diary thing!! and then i digitized it...weirdly. its my first time doing art journaling be nice to me

im ofc gonna keep slowly bleeding my older jrwi doodlepages onto this account but in the MEANTIME i GUEEESSS i could post some personal art ive been doing. i got a new job recently n i get like, 6 hours of freetime before my shifts, so scribbling in PEN only PEN is what ive been doing. i only recently got around to making some of them Edible n then runnin them thru a filter in fire alpaca to make em nicer. so here, im sure ill post more of this likeeee uhhh eveeentually. ill get to it

This piece was made in the beginning of 2018 and was my first piece in Fire Alpaca and using my new drawing tablet.

I was big into Villainous at the time and my favorite was Dr. Flug. I was fascinated with what could be under that mask. I didn't use much for creative juices and just gave him a normal human face.

I remember really wanting dramatic lighting and dark shadows but I couldn't figure out how especially seeing as Fire Alpaca didn't have a straight up bleeding brush. sense the scribbling. I was unhappy with this at the time but it was an important start. it was also just during a drawing slump so there was only so good I could feel about it.

So I drew my boy, Ghostpaw on Ms pain only using the selection tool and started a w.i.p of Berrypaw!! ^^

Idk if any of y'all are familiar (or if I even posted it here) with nightmare Ghosty but i made a short comic mostly in the style of this but it also had some fire alpaca art and ✨ animation ✨

Now that I have a new computer but no way to draw with my stylus on it, I've decided to play around with Ms paint again instead and I think this actually turned out pretty good :3

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this btw because I personally LOVE doing stuff like this ^^

Are you named after anyone? No. Though my mother was extremely tempted to give me her little brother’s name as a second middle name. Sometimes I wish she had for the sheer quirkiness of having a definitely masculine name thrown in with my quite feminine ones. Though I probably would have gotten tired of explaining it whenever it came up....

When was the last time you cried? January. Woke up New Years Day absolutely inconsolable after dreaming about my years-gone grandfather.

Do you have kids? Absolutely not. I’m a pretty fun aunt and reasonably good with kids, but I definitely like being able to hand the small humans back to their parents when I’m tired of them.

Do you use sarcasm? Not as much as I used to.

What's the first thing you notice about people? I feel like there is no one thing that I notice right away about people... Just general vibes? Though thinking more about this, I’d guess that what I first notice is whether someone is behaving “’normal’ for a situation” or if they’re doing something that sticks out as “not as expected” - which I mean as neutrally as I can. For example: I first encountered one of my (now) friends at a comic convention panel, and I noticed him more than the other panelists because while they were introducing themselves (aka “situation normal”), he was frantically scribbling all over his name card (aka ”not expected”).

What's your eye colour? I will forever use my friend’s ninth-grade, art-class description as the answer to this question: Rancid Mustard Normal people would use the word hazel

Scary movies or happy endings? Out of those two options? Happy endings, I guess. I’m generally skittish and don’t care much for scares. Better earn that happy ending though - make the characters work for it.

Any special talents? Special talents like what? I feel like this question is asking for quirky things that I am good at, and I don’t feel like I have much ‘special’ to answer it with. I’m pretty good at getting inside characters’ heads when writing or playing tabletop games? Does that count? That really seems more like something I’ve learned to do over the years than a “special talent”

Where were you born? Canada

What are your hobbies? Fibre art (knitting/crochet/weaving etc), writing, drawing (after many years of not doing that) baking, and very recently I’ve picked up guitar again. I am certain that I am missing about a dozen other things that I do, but I can’t think of them all at the moment. I have too many hobbies.

Have you any pets? Nah, not anymore.Used to have fish. Not sure if I’ll get more or not.

What sports do you play/have played? When I was little I played soccer and basketball for a season or two, used to swim. Now I do medieval sword and shield combat, and archery.

How tall are you? 5'1″

Favourite subject in school? English, for the most part - disliked it quite a bit in Grade 12, but I hated most things back then, so that doesn’t count. Loved taking German in uni until I had the prof in third year who sucked all the joy out of it.

Dream job? Alpaca farmer - I mean probably not really, because that would be So Much Work. But my idealized vision of what it would be like to be an Alpaca Farmer? Sure.

I’m not sure I even have 15 active mutuals, tbh. If anyone’s so inspired to do this, by all means!
