Alright, here are my Top Ten funniest guesses (+1 that I bet nobody ELSE will guess) for who Inquisitor Marrok actually is!

You are most welcome to correct me or let me know who YOU think is most probable.

And just to challenge myself, I’m NOT putting Ezra. Because that would be too obvious.

1. Barriss Offee

I’m serious when I say that this is probably the most likely.

We know that she is a very important character in Ahsoka’s life, the writers could be trying to mislead us into thinking that the Force User is a man when really we have no confirmation that they are. Plus Dave Filoni has said in interviews that he refused to have the character make cameos just because he wanted to save her for later. Also, many people already speculated that Barriss became an Inquisitor after Order 66, explaining the double-sided Inquisitor lightsaber.

2. Darth Maul

Their build is a little too skinny for Darth Maul, and also wow, he must really be getting up there. And also, he died in Rebels. But when has that really ever stopped Disney from resurrecting him? I just think they should keep bringing him back. For the bit. I want the opening scroll for the upcoming Daisy Ridley movie to contain the words “Somehow, Darth Maul returned…”

3. Bo Katan

I highly doubt this because her character arc on the Mandalorian is already concluded, but I can kinda see her doing this as like, a side gig. Homegirl is probably broke from paying off Mandalore’s restoration fees. She’s not a Force User unfortunately, but when has that ever stopped her? I like to believe that Bo Katan simply woke up one day and decided to be Force Sensitive and it all kinda worked out for her somehow.

4. Lux Bonteri

If this is the option David Filoni is going with, BOOO. Yet another character who isn’t Force Sensitive. If you really think about it, Dave Filoni probably wants to include someone with an important history with Ahsoka, someone close to her that she held dear and that betrayed her and that she still has lingering feelings for.

Well actually that person is Barriss, and yknow, she kinda went MIA. Sooo the next best thing we could get is Lux, I guess!

5. Anakin (Force Ghost)

Daaaad, what are you doing here?

Well, the ghosts of Obi-Wan and Yoda told him to fuck off and get a job. So here he is. He’s putting in the work! He’s logging onto his Zoom! Ahsoka is gonna be sooo surprised when he finally takes off the mask and reveals it was him along. Just you wait! It’s gonna be so funny!

6. Korkie Kryze

Now we’re really starting to get big brained here.

In Legends, we have Jacen Solo. In the sequels, we have Kylo Ren.

But in the Brand New Republic era? Hark, a new villain arises. Korkie is embittered about being left behind and forgotten by his biological parents, Satine and Obi-Wan. And now he is out for revenge against all the Force Users and Mandalorians who abandoned him. Mwahahaha. We should’ve known he would turn out like this, he’s a ginger after all.

7. Ventress

This would technically make Dark Disciple non-canon? But I don't think Dave Filoni cares, considering he hilariously made the Ahsoka novel non-canon. Ventress is obviously very powerful and capable of dual-wielding and she would make a great candidate for an Inquisitor. Plus her and Morgan Elsbeth are both former Nightsisters so points for rapport.

8. Anakin’s Evil Clone

Hey, I mean Palpatine HAD to start somewhere, right? He didn’t just create Snoke without practice. I like to think he tried making a second Anakin at first, only to discover that Clonakin was a huge pain in the ass and doesn’t wanna follow orders just sit on the couch all day eating the space equivalent of Hot Cheetos.

9. Cal Kestis but he’s evil now

This one pretty much goes against everything we know about Cal but hey, I’ll take a live action Cal cameo any day now. I’ve been on the frontlines defending my babygirl Anakin since day one, don’t even try to lecture me about the ethics of stanning Darksider Cal.

9. Mara Jade

OK no more messing around!! I'm serious this time!

EVERYONE LISTEN CLOSELY!

I think the reason why Dave hasn't made any references to Eli, or Ar'alani, or Vahnya must be because he grew up on the 80s Legends trilogy (not the canon trilogy). Whenever Thrawn is mentioned, there is a direct reference to Heir to the Empire. The same novel where Mara Jade is introduced as the Hand of the Emperor. Coincidence? I think not! Obviously, this must be part of Dave Filoni's master plan to softlaunch the upcoming top secret Thrawn series adaptation.

10. Starkiller

My only real proof is that his name (Marek, Marrok) kinda sounds similar?

Making Starkiller canon would create a whole bunch of problems for the Star Wars timeline. I think his origin story is too Mary Sue-y for even Dave Filoni to try and integrate into current canon.

However, it would be interesting to see a showdown between Anakin's two former apprentices. Interesting, but unlikely.

And finally, for my last guess, I will tell you exactly who Marrok REALLY is. Kathleen Kennedy told me personally, so don't get mad at me! She said it, not me!

11. Luuke (the clone Palpatine made out of Luke's dismembered hand)

This is the ONLY correct answer.

Us Timothy Zahn enjoyers know that this was really Luuke all along. I told you, Snoke isn't the first clone that Palpatine made! I imagine he had a lot of downtime and got bored and decided to fuck around, and that's how we got Luuke.

And yes, I would cast Sebastian Stan to play him because I'm petty AF.

My toxic trait is that if ur a Barty Crouch Jr stan, I don’t wanna hear from u about how the prank was unforgivable. im a big fan of villain characters, i enjoy antagonists in media, always had. watching the hp movies as a kid my absolute favourites were always bellatrix and lucius malfoy, i thought theyre soo cool (still do).

but like, the whole point is that theyre evil, yknow? and if i was to write a story featuring young bella where shes originally kind and good, her whole character arc would be centered around the things that happened to her that slowly made her lose her mind and become evil. because thats fundamentally the essence of the character, this is what im here for.

like nobody talks about anakin skywalker without the context of him eventually becoming darth vader, right? even tho hes originally a genuinely good kid who went through so much abuse.

i just genuinely dont get why you would take a character like barty crouch jr and write them as if it does not lead us where we know it will. people dont just get up one day and go "ok chapter 2 of my life im evil now" - no, theres a buildup. there are signs.

at this point people are genuinely writing ocs that have no connection to the original role of the character. and what genuinely baffles me is that when you point out "uh you know they killed and tortured people right?" people get defensive? like if you dont like the fact that they killed people and want to cut it out of the story, why pick this character to begin with? theres avery and mulciber for example, who we know absolutely nothing about except that they were slytherins in the same year as snape. take them. theyre a blank slate. do whatever you want. but you picked this character! who killed people. and now youre getting defensive when people point that out?

and the prank, well. i hate how its portrayed in soo many fics. i believe ive already talked about this in one of my posts in detail, but basically i dont believe sirius was in full consciousness when he did that. my personal hc is that snape tried to use legilimency on him bc he was suspecting something close to the truth, and sirius' mind kind of occluded on instinct bc thats what he was used to doing at home. so in an occluded state he locked away most of his feelings/thoughts about his friends and remus specifically to protect them, and thats why he wasnt thinking about the consequences when he told snape.

“I asked for a few things and Kix decided to be more extensive. She said she only trusts you”

“And we want her to be comfortable from now on” Kix adds on his way out with Kenobi to go over the results with him.

“Ah, well done” Odious smirks grabbing the end of the spear and lifting them causing her to cough up more blood. He stick the pierced end to the wall and before she could slide off, he held her in place. “She does the job Maul. So tell me”

So shut it” Hunter snaps right up and personal in Crosshair’s space as he took a step back. “You’ve always wondered why they let us mutations survive because we can be used to be broken. A Jedi keeping that part of them a secret, has a shattered reason connected to it. So understand Crosshair. There’s more like us even if we don’t look the same” then he continued to follow Echo leaving Cross back a bit.

“I’m confused as well to why they’ve kept it a secret and apart of me wants answers”

“So you understand my side”

“I do, but I would never push them to their boiling point” Tech adds before quickly catching up with the other two.

When the four found Wrecker stepping out of the mess hall looking guilty for the amount of ration bars in his possession. Hunter crosses his arms giving him a look sensing the nervous nature coming from him but the tension build in the room.

“Weren’t you asked to take care of something?”

“Oh! Yeah? Why?”

“Then what are you doing in the mess hall, idiot?”

“Taking care of someone. You nosey lizard” Wrecker tells Crosshair, causing a laugh to escape Tech.

As he quickly covers his mouth, Hunter frowns looking at Wrecker pushing him out of the way.

“Where is she?”

“Hunt—“

“That’s the someone you’re talking about. What did they do” Hunter bites as Wrecker frowns before eventually leading the way for the batch.

im sorry to the fetts, to anakin and obi-wan, but ive been thinking about quickswitch and sixshot’s story since before i got into star wars and ever since i saw the prequels i cant help it [copies homework but changes it as much as i can so its not similar] (long post ahoy)

anyway!! i started working on a lil comic script some time ago (which im not gonna finish anytime i bet but it still gave me Ideas). sixshot is taken prisoner by the autobots, and theyre gonna experiment on him to try and make their own six-changer. unfortunately sixshot wakes up, trashes the place and escapes before they could finish the full scope of the project but they did manage to create... a baby clone of sixshot (our boy, quickswitch). they get magnus/minimus to take care of the kid because a) not a lot of ppl have the clearance to know abt the project and he’s one of the few b) of the people who do know, he’s the only beastformer c) since he’s so dedicated to the cause, it would ensure that quickswitch grows up to be a loyal autobot, yes? so here. take care of this child.

things go wrong eventually. but for the time being minimus is an adequate dad to quickswitch, for someone who had zero prep or warning that he was going to care for sixshot’s baby clone. and they do love each other. minimus cares about the pup more than most things in life. maybe even more than properly filled paperwork. he has to be actually minimus way way more often too, and thats probably good for him and his identity issues. quickswitch‘s dad is minimus ambus, not ultra magnus. its a secret thats hard to keep, very hard now that he doesnt hide in the armour as often, but minimus follows the rules; not even his own pup can know.

and, naturally, quickswitch finds out. but not before he finds out the truth about his origins first. he’s a curious kid, yknow. and he’s different. people treat him different. nobody else is like him, he’s special. he’s going to grow up to become the hero of cybertron. (he’s going to grow up to become a weapon.) and it takes a little push from an anonymous message, telling him that he needs to know the truth. to know why he exists, and where he came from. and he sneaks around and finds out about the whole project, confronts his dad, and asks what other secrets have been kept from him and, well, the kid doesnt take well to being lied to his whole life. doesnt take well to the realisation that his whole purpose is to be used. he runs away, scratching the autobot insignia off his chest.

and as all this is happening, sixshot does his job, does his duty: committing acts of violence for the decepticon cause with indifference and existential loneliness. to someone like him, its a simple life. he’s been bored since he was born, really. he’s not had a challenge for a long time now. and unlike others he’s disinterested in fighting his fellow decepticons. whats the point, if they all end up in the same medbay? besides, he’d win anyway. he lets shockwave examine him, mess around and experiment, because what’s the point of saying no?

(shockwave found out about quickswitch very quickly, and decides to shelve the “cloning sixshot” project idea. if someone beat them to the punch, might as well not waste any resources. no, lets just take the already finished product, and make him think it was his idea too.)

quickswitch grows up, roams around the galaxy, unaffiliated. takes in a few bounties for cash, ends up making himself known against his will. well, its kinda hard to be inconspicuous when youre this big and you’ve got six altmodes, just like that very infamous decepticon, sixshot. quickswitch doesnt know if he wants to meet him. he’s afraid, a little bit. but he’s also so curious. think about it. thats his dad, right? well, his template at least. in his dreams, sixshot takes him under his wing and becomes his new mentor, maybe even recognises him as his son. in his nightmares, he is an autobot still, and he is pitted against the very person who he is made from, and he dies a brutal death. quickswitch still holds a grudge. he misses minimus but if he wants to stay, he’d have to rejoin the autobots, and he Does Not Want That. no telling how he’d be treated too.

minimus retreats into the armour. he’s ultra magnus nearly 24/7 now. he thinks about reaching out, of finding quickswitch and reconciling, but he’s afraid of being rejected. the magnus armour doesnt do anything against his son. its minimus who fucked up. he knows it, and he hates it. hates himself.

maybe they cross paths once in a while. but quickswitch just glares at ultra magnus’ face and walks away.

quickswitch gets swayed towards the decepticons. the idea of meeting sixshot is compelling, and as he grows into his own strength, he’s less and less scared, and more just curious, excited maybe. and he will meet him.

..... this is the part where im not quite sure how i want the story to go. the things that are definitely going to be a thing: quickswitch meets sixshot. sixshot is initially like “what the fuck” but slowly comes to like quickswitch. ultra magnus shows up at some point and all three have a confrontation. minimus and quickswitch reconcile, at some point. but idk what actually does happen??

either QS and 6S meet in a string of coincidences, or QS joins the decepticons? maybe?? i feel like either way QS is factionless by the end at least. thats just the vibe im getting. kinda wanna say “and then quickswitch gets two dads and they all live happily ever after” but ahh.... it just doesnt feel right for the tone of the story so far. but anyway thats what i got!!! the ending is!! not really there yet!! but ive been typing for like an hour so sksbjsjak im wrapping this up.

thanks! so i've been on tumblr for awhile but i only recently learned to make gifs, i mostly just reblogged things before. because of that i don't have many followers. like barely 1000. i know gif making isn't just for notes but i do want to share the things i make and get some interaction yknow? i'm not sure how to do that with such a small following. how does someone get started with putting their edits out there?

I completely understand what you mean, don’t worry! The best way to getting your post more seen is by using the right tags. So, the first thing you need to know is that there is basically a “20 tag limit” on edits that you post. What I mean by this is that these first 20 tags are the ones that make your post show up in searches, and if you include more than 20 it doesn’t show up. 

Now, when I tag my edits it’s quite systematic. You start with the fandom or character that you’re editing, and put this in the tags as its general name and also with the word “edit” on the end of it. So, for instance, when I gif star wars or marvel, my first few tags are always “#marvel #marveledit #mcuedit” & “#star wars #swedit #starwarsedit”. For characters it is the exact same e.g “#anakin skywalker #anakinskywalkeredit”. This is also the exact same for ships! If you’re making a film or tv edit, its always good to always add “#tvedit #filmedit”

Next, I tend to tag the relevant source blogs that are linked to what I’m posting about. To see if these sourceblogs track anything, you can check in their bios where they often say something like “we track #blahblah”. So, say you’re making a marvel edit and you follow dailymarvel, you’d tag them using “#dailymarvel” because that’s what they track. A BIG tip for working out which source blogs are relevant to you and are also active, I suggest looking through the general edit tag for what you’re using first (so e.g #marveledit) and seeing what other source blogs people have been tagging. For example, for marvel, good sourceblog tags to use are: #mcufam #dailyavengers #marveladdicts #mcusource (I’ve linked all blogs in the hashtag). 

Now, what I’ve spoken about before are blogs that only reblog specific content ie marvel edits. There are also popular source blogs that reblog a wide range of edits whether that be film, tv, games etc. Ones that I tag often are: #cinemapix  #chewieblog #userstream #useroptional (once again, I have also linked them!) I suggest looking around once again at what other people tag, and seeing what other big source blogs they tend to tag.

Finally I like to add “user tags” at the end. You may have noticed that a lot of personal blogs often have things like “tracking #userblah” or “i track #usermeh” in their bio. What this basically means is that this person also has a personal tag that they track and reblog anything that people tag them in. It’s a good way to have better interaction with blogs that you particularly like, and if these people are also part of sourceblogs they may also add your edit to their sourceblog queue if it fits (although, please don’t expect this. I don’t think everyone does that!). So, for instance, I track #userphe. If you tag me in anything (even if I haven’t watched it lol) I will make sure to reblog because I know getting your edit spread about can be hard. Other blogs may say “only tag me in the fandoms of so and so”, so please be aware of that! The best way to know who to tag is to get a good scope on the blogs you follow: work out what fandoms they’re in and what they generally reblog about, and if you think they fit with your edit, then definitely tag them! Some blogs even have a “thanks for tagging” tag (there are variety of tags that people can use so finding these can be difficult), so if you’re unsure on whether to tag someone or not, maybe have a look through their tag and see if they’ve reblogged anything that’s similar to what you’re posting about.

WARNING: please only tag these source blogs or personal blogs with the tags they track if you follow them! It’s not really nice if you tag someone that you don’t follow.

I finish my tags with “#mygifs*”. This is my tag for all of my edits, so that when I link to the phrase “gifmaker” in my bio, people are able to see all of the edits I’ve made regardless of what fandom they’re for. Once again, there are a variety of these and the name of this tag is completely up to you! So, go wild with it.

If you ever see someone doing an ask game, or an appreciation week for a certain fandom or character, that’s always a good way to meet some new people and make some mutuals that share a lot of interests with you! Sometimes discord servers are also shared about, these are also a good way to meet new people! What I’m basically saying in this final mini section is that once you make yourself your own little “following/mutual bubble” with people that you like interacting with, you’ll find that you enjoy tumblr a lot more and be able to interact with people a lot more regularly.

just read the Chris TROS interviews and BASICALLY here it is:

- Han Solo decided that Rey was his heir within minutes of meeting her. He knew she was the one he and Chewie would spend all their time with flying. (Despite the fact that he was a relatively absent father to Ben Solo growing up, almost always choosing to fly off somewhere rather than spending time with his son, and gave up on him when he turned to the dark side until Leia told him to give Ben another chance.) Basically Han was a shit father.

- Despite being onscreen for 1+ minute, you can tell Rose has really grown both in rank and as a person (you cant) and the reason she was cut out was because of final cuts and time and not because of the CGI (even though Chris said that it was a CGI issue in a prev interview so What Is The Truth?) Most Carrie scenes happened to involve Rose (and there was no other way to fix this so here’s your one minute of screen time hun, we love you, we rly do)

- JJ and Chris felt that Rian’s take on Rey’s parentage was the worst thing she could’ve heard at the time, but then went ‘Ooh but what’s worse than that? Like how can it be bad-bad?’ They literally were looking for an unnecessary twist because they wanted the drama and wanted Rey to suffer more (clearly misunderstand the significance of Rey accepting who she was as a person without big ties).

- They compared the Skywalkers to Rey’s new family. Luke and Leia are Rey’s new family. That’s another reason why Rey being a Palp is so tough on her, because she comes from her old family that hurt her new family (despite the many reasons why the Skywalkers ARENT like Rey’s family. Despite the fact that Rey has never mentioned the Skywalker’s complicated past with Palpatine or Palpatine AT ALL within the last two movies) Rey is meant to be a literal replacement to Ben Solo/Kylo Ren

-  Rey had inclinations to the Dark Side (when????????????? Only time I can remember is when Kylo temped her in TLJ and she almost took his hand, but that’s about it)

- Rey not only took the Skywalker’s family line by name, but also, by blood. Rey can literally claim the legacy and lineage of the Skywalker family. She is as legitimate as Ben Solo/Skywlker/Organa, if not, more so because she is good. 

- All the Jedi are Rey’s ancestors too...because yknow...that’s emotional??

- Despite being able to choose your own family despite where you come from, Leia, Luke, and Finn didnt tell Rey about her family lineage because they were somehow afraid that would turn her (Leia was also too afraid to tell Kylo Ren that he was related to Vader and he had to find out through someone else. sO HM.)

- Leia had hope in Rey Palpatine becoming a good person also pretty quickly upon meeting her (but not enough in her own son, and as a matter of fact, neither did Luke or Han.) Kylo was the mistake they all learned from, an actual ‘redheaded stepchild’ character.

-  Finn being Force sensitive is the equivalent of TLJ ‘broomboys’ (even though he never gets to actually say it in the movie and he never rly shows it)

- Rey’s death wasn’t really a death, but he doesnt clarify what it was (dyING maybe??? idk god help me). 

- TROS is about learning from your ancestors mistakes (even though Kylo Ren commits the very mistakes Anakin did and had the same fate because his fucking ancestors/parents/family didnt bother to tell him what those mistakes were) This is, again, apparently Rey’s lesson to learn from her “family”.

- Kylo is only on a path to redemption in his head. They also reaffirm that Han is only a memory not a force ghost.

- Luke and Leia are buried together because Leia cant show Luke where she grew up so now he gets to show her where he grew up (despite them being alive for years together and that ????? never being a thing ???? and Leia maybe wanting to be buried next to her husband and son????) Separating the twins is a sin. (Also Luke is like Rey’s dad????? And Leia is like her mom???? And Han is???? also a dad???? Idk man)

- The reason Leia gets a Force ghost is because she was a Jedi for like that one time. If they didn’t have that scene then it’d be hard to explain why she can be there.

- Kylo Ren gets literally no credit for helping Rey defeat Palpatine. It was all Luke and Leia, but mostly Rey. 

- They totally didnt retcon TLJ, everything is perfectly aligned

- Luke’s sacrifice had a positive impact on allies joining the Resistance, except Poe in the beginning of the movie says otherwise--but it’s OK because at the end Lando shows up with a bunch of people that came from nowhere (and also they didnt feel like showing that on film, because it’s like over explaining) 

- Apparently JJ told Rey that her parents were nobody’s but then retconned this. Chris cannot answer for JJ on why this mightve occured

- Rey isnt living on Tattooine, she’s just there to bury Luke and Leia. In reality, the ending is more about the OT and them than it is about Rey.

- No explanation is given as to why Luke doesn’t seem perturbed about Rey being a Palpatine and knowing all along

All in all, they really were out here trying to retcon not only TLJ, but the PT, ST, and OT as well.

At the risk of being overly earnest in response to this, it’s because age differences aren’t inherently bad in relationships.  This isn’t to say that you have to like them or not find them squicky (we all find different things squicky) but that they’re not inherently bad, especially in fictional characters.Age gaps are a problem when they create a gulf between two people in what they want out of a relationship (but this can apply to so many different things, like one person wanting to focus on their career while the other wants to live day to day, that difference between the people can be just as/even more destructive to the relationship) or when it keeps one person from being able to handle holding up to the other person because of lack of experience.With Obi-Wan and Anakin, we see them being peers, we see Anakin firing back and being stubborn about his views on the galaxy and his opinions, we see Obi-Wan is careful not to run him over.  Even during Attack of the Clones, when Anakin is massively overstepping the Jedi’s ability to handle this situation (it’s not just that they’re supposed to ~follow the rules~, but that Anakin is promising things that they may not be legally able to deliver, all because he wants to impress this woman in front of him), Obi-Wan’s response is basically, “WE WILL TALK ABOUT THIS IN THE CAR” and Anakin still clearly doesn’t seem terribly cowed by any of this.  He still fires back in their conversation about security for Padme, he flings himself out of the car despite Obi-Wan crabbing at him, this isn’t someone who can’t hold up to the force of Obi-Wan’s personality.This is someone who matches him and they complement each other.By the time most people ship them, the age difference doesn’t really matter that much at all anymore because they’ve grown into a relationship dynamic where they both can hold their own against the other, where their experiences are matched to each other.There’s a reason why the Revenge of the Sith novelization has that great quote, “They are closer than friends. Closer than brothers. Though Obi-Wan is sixteen standard years Anakin’s elder, they have become men together. Neither can imagine life without the other. The war has forged their two lives into one.”There can be loads of interesting complications to play with, especially given that Anakin has a praise kink a mile wide I will die on this hill or that Anakin tries so desperately to make himself be the strong one in his relationships and fails so terribly at it because it’s not who he really is, it’s not what he really wants, which is to go running for help, to be praised and taken care of, that that applies to anyone he falls in love with, regardless of their age or whatever else his relationship with them contains, but ultimately, at the heart of things, a relationship works and is healthy when two people want the same things and when they can make each other content and when they can hold up to the force of the other’s personality.Obi-Wan and Anakin very much do hold up against each other, that’s kind of the whole point of their fight being the climax of Revenge of the Sith, because neither one of them can make the other back down when they’re dead set on the path they’re on.

anyways the crux of the problem a lot of us (and just specifically me) have with r*ylo is:

they tend to take Finn’s existing personality traits and plot arcs and give them to Kylo Ren; sometimes erasing Finn as a character entirely, which is rather racist, even if they claim to have no ill intent (you can be unintentionally racist yknow that’s what most racism is). I suspect it’s because Finn has real tangible chemistry with Rey but I’ll avoid getting into that.

romanticizing abuse & non consensual actions. Saying him invading her mind was romantic, or the bridal carry when he abducted her, for example; did y’all ever think it was romantic when Voldemort got inside Harry Potter’s mind? No, because they weren’t a woman and a man you could project heterosexual fantasies on to.

crying that they’re being harassed by people who were mostly just making jokes about not liking the ship and specifically tagging them with the anti tag and censoring the ship and/or character names so they could be easily filtered or wouldn’t show up in the tags at all. Yea harassing people for ships isn’t good, but maybe in general we should act less like we’re more righteous solely because people are angry at us. That’s not how it works. Especially when some people use it as a defense to creating harmful content (like romanticized rape fiction).

that our first Star Wars female Main Jedi protagonist would end up with a character who is both a murderer and an active player in a fascist government. Important to note that he is also a grown man, who is very capable of making informed decisions, and therefore entirely culpable for all of his actions. That she would choose someone like that, who hurt her friends, herself, killed people she cared for, has used textbook abusive manipulative tactics to get her on his side, is scary and not a good romantic story. One movie does not give enough time for him to legitimately redeem himself enough for a romance between them to be appropriate. (I’d say maybe enough for him to be awkwardly on the good side a la the Malfoys at the end of Harry Potter or like a criminal who names names for a more lenient sentence but that’s it).

“reverse anidala” drives me crazy as someone who really enjoys the anidala tragic love story (it’s a little Romeo & Juliet Shakespearean tragedy where you’re inevitably heading towards a bad ending and there’s nothing you can do to escape it, really). When Anakin and Padmé are together, it’s specifically the parts of the saga where Anakin is a hero; where he is trying his best to be a good person and do the right thing. Padmé falls in love with him because he’s genuine, heroic, and a little bit reckless. Once he goes off the deepend; killing children & his friends, actually actively supporting fascism; she’s 100% not on board, quote “you’re breaking my heart”. She was in love with someone & had to leave when they started to hurt others and herself. Even maybe she shouldn’t have gotten on board with it when he killed an entire village of sand people, (but granted, they abducted his mother & he was obviously remorseful immediately afterwards + he’s basically a teenage soldier at this point; not saying it’s not bad, just that this is markedly different from all the times Kylo Ren has committed murder) but I also think the way the anidala love story concludes drives home that their relationship probably wasn’t the best idea anyways. Another popular comparison is Pride & Prejudice. Mr. Darcy may have been rude to Elizabeth and may have made mistakes that affected her family, but none of the things he did were as serious as Literal Murder or Abduction. Once he realized how he had misjudged the situation he immediately apologized and made big strides to make up for his mistakes. Elizabeth comes to realize she also misjudged him, that he was only trying to look out for those he loved just as she was looking out for the people she cared about. I have no idea how in the world that is anything like the relationship Kylo Ren and Rey have except for that it’s two people who are at odds with each other, at least in the beginning. And Mr. Darcy is kind of broody I guess and usually has long dark hair. The thing with Kylo Ren is that he has already treated Rey and her friends poorly and that’s not something that can be forgiven easily, or someone a person should be in a relationship with. He’s also not a character who has friends or loved ones that he cares for that would make him sympathetic, unlike Mr. Darcy or Anakin. Anakin killed for the people he loved, it was terrible and bad! But we understood what got him there. We understand those intentions and how they can go awry if you choose to believe the end justifies the means. Darcy is a similar reflection of those intentions, except that his mistakes aren’t near as monstrous & easily forgiven. Kylo Ren is motivated by what? Entitlement? A slightly unstable family dynamic? I know Luke ‘almost killed him’ but he had already begun exploring the dark side at that point so what got him there? Not a desire to protect his loved ones that’s for sure. I’m just very personally bothered by these parallels, as they are unequal, and they undermine what I think is good about these other stories.

that they so actively push for it to be canon. You do realize you can have just as much fun with a non canon ship as a canon one. You don’t need to see it realized on screen to have fun with your villain and hero fall in love stories. We all know Rey is just your self insert so you can have romantic trysts with Kylo Ren because you think Adam Driver or sith dudes are hot or w/e; it might be better to just accept and acknowledge that, rather than stand on your soap box telling everyone it’s the best.

Anyways, in conclusion, I don’t like this ship. I’d say it’s fine for you to indulge in it as a guilty pleasure (like I’m a sucker for vaderdala, it’s not like that’s “morally superior”). But I think the entirety of that group of people who ship it really need to consider the ramifications of what they write and what they romanticize and who they’re erasing from the narrative (coughFinncough) and what kind of message it would actually send if it was truly canon.

I also apologize for mentioning Harry Potter so much I have no idea what that was the material I drew parallels to; there are so many other books and shows and movies I’ve interacted with far more recently than Harry Potter. Maybe it’s because it’s a widely known piece of literature so it’s easier for others to see the comparisons I’m making? Hopefully.

And I won’t interact with this ship on any level except to make jokes at its expense because it fills me with an intense rage that stems from all of these many issues that I take from it. Even if it’s just someone innocuously enjoying it as a crack ship who doesn’t romanticize the bad things about it. It’s been ruined for me forever by the vocal fandom surrounding it.

okay i know finn rey and poe are criminally underappreciated by sw fans and i know it has a lot to do with none of them being a white guy but i really wish people would stop shitting on kylo ren to prove a point he did not just up and choose to be evil like people sometimes say, snoke has been manipulating him since he was a goddamn toddler and he fell for it but that is not the same as being like hmm yknow what would be fun, becoming a murderer the jedi have been shown to be really unaccepting of people having emotions especially strong or turbulent ones, and i'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say kylo has always been an emotional person and that made him feel really conflicted about his place with the jedi (creating a really neat weakness for snoke to take advantage of) and as someone who tends to be emotional and deals with mental illness i can really relate to that and it kinda sucks seeing everyone call this character i see myself in an ~~entitled white boy who throws temper tantrums~~ and from a meta perspective, star wars began as a very cookie cutter black and white basic adventure story and they've been making moves to branch out from that over time, and kylo ren is the first character besides anakin/darth vader who is not A Good Guy or Pure Evil and i'm so glad the people behind star wars decided to get into more gray morality and 3d, dynamic characters, and it's a little disheartening to see people like try to shove this nuanced complex character back into the Embodiment Of Evil box cause they can't handle the thought of finn rey and poe being awesome characters AS WELL AS kylo and not instead of him

#also i think a redemption arc is in the cards so suck on my balls my emotional boy is gonna be a good guy
